The first time I went to this salon was back in August and I remember being so excited to go to this salon because I saw such amazing reviews. This was the first time ever that I was going to dye my hair so many hair was really healthy and I wanted to keep the damage to a minimum. The first time I got my hair bleached/dyed, I loved it. It wasn’t the exact blonde color I was going for but it didn’t look bad so I didn’t really mind because I was told it would take a couple sessions to get to the color I wanted. I came back to the salon for a second time a month later to get my roots touched up and continue the process of getting my hair lightened and at first it looked fine. It wasn’t until about a week later after the touch up that I started noticing patchiness in the color of my hair. Keep in mind I’ve been using the appropriate products for my hair to protect the color and against damage and I had only washed it once during that first week. By the time I went back to the salon for the third time, my hair was this awful orange color with so much patchiness but my hair stylist said she could fix it so I just thought, okay I trust you. About the third week after she “fixed” my hair, you could see that my hair went from dark brown roots, then cut straight off into this blonde-orange color, then again into this awful brass color, and then the very bottom layer of hair was this pale yellow color. My hair was getting more and more damaged everytime I went back so at this point I was horrified to even go back and try to get her to fix it. The lady who colored my hair just didn’t seem to get the idea of the color and style I was going for even though I showed her the exact same picture everytime I came in and that she was supposed to be using as reference. My hair looked nothing like what I showed her even though she said that it would. I ended up switch salons because I was so disappointed by the results and it wasn’t worth all the money that I was paying for her to just keep damaging my hair everytime and not getting the results I wanted. Even though my new salon is further from home, my new stylist was able to do an incredible color correction even after seeing all the damage that was done to my hair. She knows exactly what my goal is for my hair, I don’t have to keep reminding her of what I want or what my name is during my appointments and she’s just as excited as I am about getting my hair to the final results. I’m not one to hate or leave bad reviews but I was greatly disappointed.

I went to the salon today on a whim, to get my nails done, after trying several other salons that were closing at 8pm. It was 8:15, I parked in the back where I could see most, if not, all the chairs were empty as I proceeded to the front entrance. There were only a few people in the front of the store looking around and I made my way to the front desk. I asked politely if there were any openings so that I could get my nails done. She said, "Unfortunately there are only appointments made at 8, and they are all full. " I paused, looked at my phone and saw it was more than a quarter past 8, and replied, "any cancellations? " and she replied, "unfortunately not." I wouldn't have been too upset if I saw proof that there were in fact people there, and to make matters worse, I was never asked to set up an appointment, not even a nod towards that direction other than the one for the door. Overall, my experience there made me feel uncomfortable, and unwelcome, even though I am a Homewood resident. So, if you are a person of color, better be lighter than me, not have ethnic clothes or hair, and speak like you just had Botox. Now to see if they're even rated BBB. Unfortunately, I haven't checked that out yet.

Helped me get tips and advice on current style but also where I want to go with my hair. Helped decide to color for first time in 12+ years! Can’t wait for next visit! The receptionist is so rude and unprofessional. I called today to reschedule an appointment thats a week and a half away to the first week of June. Her tone was condescending and unhelpful. Not to mention, the last time i was there they charged me almost $200 for a trim and a partial highlight. I had a bad experience with one of the stylists so I moved to another because they did good work and its close to me. But I refuse to be talked down to especially when Im paying a decent amount for services. I guess they dont mind losing clients, back to the drawing board with finding a new hair stylist.

They do great hair but unfortunately they cannot be depended on to honor appointments. After my last appointment, I had booked my next one to occur in the morning before my flight out of town. When I arrived - my appointment was either removed or never put in the system- even though the girl gave me an appointment card. They could no even accommodate me due to their error. She told me I could get either squeeze me in for a cut or color, but not both. After being a loyal client, I expected better. Unacceptable. I had to fly out that evening without my hair being done. I never went back. There are too many salons in existence that do great hair. I shouldn't patronize a place with apathetic staff who don't care to fix their mistakes.

I have been a client at Jonathan Kane for several years now and have enjoyed my experiences. It is an upscale salon in Flossmoor and the staff is friendly as well as professional. I chose it because it is an Aveda Salon and I really like their color as well as their hair products. You can travel anywhere and visit a salon and get the same color. Alysha is my hair stylist and she is a great colorist, stylist and gives a great cut! She is very nice and attentive to your requests! I highly recommend it!
