Wonderful environment, friendly staff. I brought my Gizmo in for his first ever cut and trim. He went in looking like a shaggy mutt and came out like the pampered prince he is. He was nervous and shakey and they made him comfortable and beautiful! Will definitely be going back!!!

NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE. THINK TWICE before taking your pet here!!! In June 2014, I took my dog in for grooming. They cut my dog around his anus & didn't phone me. They let me take him home without mentioning it (sneakily put something on the spot that stopped the bleeding like Nu Skin). I thought it was a spot of feces at first. To make a long story short, 8-9 days later a bad infection ensued. I took him to the vet & luckily it wasn't as serious as it appeared. It was quite upsetting however. The bill was $138 - much less than expected. I phoned this so-called business & spoke to Ms. Janine Ebersole who is listed as one of the owners. I spoke directly yet firmly without raising MY voice or swearing at her. I want you to know she was belligerent, rude, was screaming at me & then she proceeded to hang up one me. She even called the police on me!!! Based on this alone, they should NOT be in business, because I can bet this happens regularly. I contacted the BBB & a case was going to be opened but their system went down as I was doing so. That would have ultimately only got my $45 back (they also didn't trim his nails & cut on his tail - which likely led to the cut on his anus & I had asked them not to do so.) There is no customer focus here when they've made a mistake & don't want to take responsibility. Janine Ebersole took things way too personally & she was out of line. I then contacted the ILLINOIS DEPT. of AGRICULTURE who basically went into that business to have a look unexpectedly, without letting Doggy Day Spa know in advance. IL Dept. doesn't get back to you except to initially ask you if you want them to approach the business. I felt a lot better that Doggy Day Spa does answer to someone somewhere. What I did needed to happen. Don't be afraid of these 2 women. COMPLAIN, complain, complain. They don't need to be in business & my case probably isn't the worse. Thank you for reading:)

I took my dog to this place a couple days ago and he was a new dog here so naturally being in a new environment scared him. I warned them he can be a biter when scared and I can put a muzzle on them if they have them but was told it wasnt needed and I said "are you sure?" And they took him back and said it's because we were there. Fast forward a bit and we get a call that he has bitten two groomers and we have to him up. So we did and got him some meds to calm him down as they said he needed to be sedated. We brought him back 30-40 minutes after he has taken meds and he was loopy. And got attitude from the lady who made it seem like it was our fault when they didnt listen the first time. So they take him in and we get him back he has a hug patch of fur missing from his face, a cut on the back bottom part of his tail, nails cut so short they look like they bled a bit, and his sides where i guess you considered his elbows are red and dry from being cut short, and his fur is uneven and paws were covered in dry vomit or poop from anxiety. I've never recieved my dog like this ever and concerned how they treated him because hes now scared when anyone comes home, doesnt really move anywhere unless it to drink water or eat food. When hes normally lively and happy to see people come home or when friends come over. Really displeased and upset with results and I'm happy some people have good experiences here but if your dog has really bad anxiety or something, I dont recommend this place. If you're a groomer you should know how to handle a anxious dog or a biter. You're not always going to get dogs who are happy all time the time and outgoing and listen to the owner when they say something about the dogs behavior dont assume its cause were there. I wont bring my dog here again.

The place is disgusting. It's filthy. And not just regular hair from grooming dirty. I'm talking about dirt from years of accumulation. It looks like they haven't properly cleaned the place ever. They let the dogs roam free, which is potentially dangerous. I brought my dogs in for a nail trim and the guy just did them right on the mat out in the lobby. On the dirty mat out in the lobby. He cut the quick on a couple of nails, so there they are with an open wound on a dirty surface. Not hygienic AT ALL. I will never bring my dogs back there ever again, and I would never recommend this place to any one ever!

I called and talked to a gentlemen and he asked me what kind of dog I had and quoted me $42.00. I made the appointment and dropped my dog off. When I came to pick him up, the young girl said it was $49.00. I said I was told $42.00. A lady (I believe the owner, with blond hair) said "Nothing is $42.00, everything if $49.00" very rudely, I said I was told $42.00, she said again that nothing is $42.00, only certain short haired dogs are $43.00. That was it, she didn't apologize or ask who I talked to or anything. My dog's haircut was just okay, nothing great and he had some knots still in his hair. I won't go back because of the rudeness.

Shocked reading the two negative reviews , because I had a perfect experience with my Bichon / shitzu mix! This owner was soooo nice! Don’t let those reviews scare you away ! I was super happy to find this place after a few issues with my last groomer!

I took a super fluffy little dog so they could cut HALF of his fur and i got him back BALD from his body while his tail and face looked like they weren’t even touched. Although we did take him back to get the tail evened out and they were okay with it, I will NOT be taking him back to where they don’t cut my dogs hair like I said so AND the pay was too high for a hair cut that was not what I ordered. ALSO, since we picked him up he had been crying and he can’t stop scratching himself.

This place is fabulous. We have been taking our dog, Lexi, there for over 6 years and they have always done a great job. The staff is extremely friendly and takes very good care of her. No complaints.

I have been a client of Doggy Day Spa for 9 years because of the excellent care and quality trims they give my shih tsu. I've tried a couple of other places when they were full and I was desperate, but the quality was not the same. On Saturday I received an unexpected free groom for being a loyal customer for so long. I’ve been taking my dog to these groomers since she was a puppy. I am pleased with the cut and services they provide. We have never gone to another groomer for the past 5 years. My shihtzu is quite nervous and they do a great job of working with her. They always ask if I want any changes with her haircut when I drop her off. The highlight is during the holiday season when they take the time to make her look festive with a bandana and cute hair bows! I would recommend these groomers!

Its a shame that I have to give Doggy Day Spa only two stars, especially being a customer who has been going there for over a year. Usually I take my Lab-German Shepard mix to the wash-yourself baths and get her nails trimmed. Before today I have always enjoyed this spa, and the employees seem to be very pleasant. Yesterday I took my dog to get washed and her nails clipped, and I pulled up at 3 p.m. and the shop was closed, although the door said that it was open until 5 p.m. My mother and I called the place and the woman told us she had to leave without notice to tend to a sick child and she would be back tomorrow. Today I went in to do what I was going to do before and I had a very unpleasant experience with whom I believe is the owner. As I mentioned I was glad they were open today due to them being closed yesterday, the owner barked back at me saying "well I told you where I was... and I was open most of the day." She then decided not to speak to me after that when I asked for a bath for my dog and when I paid at the end; instead, she ordered other employees to help my mother and I. Although I understand her child was sick, she did not have to deal with us this way. We were very pleasant customers who were happy to be back to wash our dog but unfortunately her service has turned us away for the future. Although this is a great spa in the sense of a great self-washing station and other employees are nice, I can not fathom returning with such a rude boss; I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

I gave this location a couple of chances. Today was my last. The first few visits were simple nail trims. Which, I had to go back because they forgot my dogs’ dewclaws, more than once. I tried their self-wash services today. When I walked in, the woman working behind the desk didn’t acknowledge me bc she was on the phone. I could understand this however, after her and I made eye contact she proceeded to place her hand over her bent down forehead and continued to place her pick up order for food. To the point where she was going over what sauces they had to put on her meal. I believe she chose the white sauce. After this I asked for a nail grinding and to use their self wash bath tubs. Since it was only 12:45pm I figured this was an ok time to ask. After a few heavy sighs from her and being told she had to leave to pick her kids up, I promised I would only be 15 minutes or so and even offered to come back a different day if this wouldn’t work. I wondered- why am I begging a facility to pay for their services during operating hours? But my dog and I were already there, let’s get this bath going. I start madly scrubbing my dog in hopes to knock this out in 15 minutes. The water was freezing cold. I mean- FREEZING. maybe it warms up after 10 minutes? Not sure. I was proud at how quickly I had washed my 90lb dog so I figured I had 5 minutes or so to blast her dry. I begin frantically drying my dog and was quickly interrupted by the owner with her coat and purse on, telling me we had to leave bc she had to go. Completely taken, I quickly packed up and paid for my services. She so thoughtfully told me she wouldn’t charge me for the self wash but did charge me For the nail trim. How great, right? Since my dog was still dripping and it was a scortching 38 degrees out, how nice of her! I asked if the self serve baths were booked by apt. She told me they weren’t but on Wednesday’s she prefers you call to book them. There is no notification of this on their website. After getting home and using my Own blow dryer on my shivering dog I noticed her nails, again. I paid for a grinding and none of her nails were ground close to her quick. Glad I paid for that. Being a business owner myself, I love support mom and pop shops. But I will never be back to this facility and continue to tell my clients about my experience. On a lighter note- I hope she enjoyed her take out.

I’ve been bringing my 3 dogs there for several years. Lately, one of my poodles has come home and acquired a severe case of kennel cough - twice - both of the last 2 visits. i thought it was just a coincidence the first time. But same thing this time except it’s worse. I will never return to this place. And on top of it all, the owner (blonde woman) acts as if she’s doing me a favor by me bringing my dogs there for $50 each.

Doggy Day Spa has been wonderful to our two dogs! We have been bringing our Golden Retriever, Jack and our Labradoodle. Jill here for their spa time for over four years. They always come out looking great (and smelling much better!). The staff is so kind to us and the dogs - it's very nice to go to a place that always remembers you and knows you by name.
