Has a cute "Kids corner" with a good selection of kids books, puppets, and an activity cube. Unfortunately both sets of doors to the outside are automatic so there is a flight risk with toddlers.

It has become the new homeless hang out did not feel safe at all. There was a man asking me for my library card. Staff is great but not sure if I feel safe going anymore

The West Salem Library is a wonderful library with a tiny collection. It does boast 8 computers for public use, a selection of popular books and periodicals as well as a separate children’s area. The staff of the library is warm and greeting. They are incredibly knowledgeable and take the time to get to know patrons personally. This helps with recommendations and makes for a better experience. Unfortunately there is also a growing population of individuals who may be categorized as “homeless” who have begun to take over the free seating. This gives the library a stench and makes it a rather loud place to be. Unfortunately the librarians can do nothing about this and there are times when their presence is lessened which returns the library to its normal quiet/welcoming environment. I routinely have books sent to this location. Again...it is a really near-perfect little library.

Quite small location. Very clean and good place to be. Library seems a lil strange at first but after a bit u get used to it...offers computer and internet access. You can use scanner and printer however u cannot just put documents into printer and make multiple copies. You can scan off of Internet enabled machines as well.

We just moved to the area so we thought to scope our new local library, they dont do story time for kids, no legos or toys, one computer in the kid section, and no chairs in the kid section. It was one of the most uninviting atmospheres I've encountered. The staff was very kind, encouraged me to go to the Salem Public Library accross the river... But thats not the point. My new local library is a complete let down.

A great thing to have in West Salem. It is small, so the selection is also on the smaller end. If you have a few days, they will try and find what you need and will order it for you.

I absolutely love that there's a West Salem branch; I can have them transfer a book or books to this location which is much more convenient than having to go all the way to the regular branch.

It's too small...there is not enough seating to meet the demand and the homeless people use it as a rest area making the bathroom a ghetto shower area.
