Yes! A great little library in historic Oregon City with a decent selection of books and an amazing staff!

Daniel William O'Dair

rod mason

nice community rooms, public spaces.

Luda Sirosh

One of our favorite libraries to visit with my children.

Ireland Covey

It is a fun library, with a little water park in front alongside a playground. The library is huge and they have tons of books. And the summer reading program is fun. They have adults, teens, kids, and toddlers, with fun prizes for everybody. But I have gotten some rude librarians. That is my only downside in the library. I hope you all enjoy your time there.

The staff has always been kind, knowledgeable and very helpful. It is a beautiful old building worth visiting for it alone. If they don't have the book that you want they can probably find it for you, they have the resources. There is parking available around the building and across the street. There is a lovely splash pad next to the building. I've watched a few children enjoy it.

A real nice place.

This is a nice library with great wifi, a good selection of books considering the size of the location, great selection of movies to check out, and friendly staff. My only complaint, and it is a big one, is the constant noise. There are always people having loud conversations regardless of what section you are in. The staff made no efforts at all to even attempt to quiet things down. If this was the kind of experience I was looking for, I would have gone to a book store at the mall. If you are just looking to run in and check out a book or movie, this is a great place. Otherwise, if you are looking to read or study, this is not the best place to be.

I 100% agree with Jake Carlson. I've given it several tries to get some study done, but it is like a noisy mall. There are lovely tables set upstairs that look inviting to a studier, however the surrounding computers attract noisy gamers, who treat the library like their living room. Even the staff are rowdy with their carts rolling back and forth on the tiled, echo-y ground floor. Bummer. I actually find the coffee shop more conducive to getting study done. So yes, check in and check out your books, but don't expect to find a quiet place to study at this library.

Jeryn

Nice place, small assortment of books though. Not what I figured would be in such a decently sized library.

Amazing staff!! So much activities during the week, clean and very well taken!

Having lived in many major areas around the country, this library is amazing. The programs, alone, are top notch for kids and adults. They are a growing program, so not everything is perfect, but they love suggestions (and take them into consideration). The librarians are helpful and super knowledgeable. The book supply has a long way to go before the shelves are full, but the new part of the library is fairly large - everything in good time - or just asking to have a book sent from another local library. The checkout kiosks are really cool and easy to use. The online app (just went live a few weeks ago) is the best library app I’ve ever used (East to west coast). It’s also been fun beta testing the app and getting great feedback from the librarian that the tech team is using my feedback. Oh, and when I found an inappropriate book in the kid section, I politely sent a note of concern. The librarian responsible for placing books contacted me to apologize and thank me for caring about location. Turned out the book was housed upstairs but the playaway was mislabeled for kids section. All fixed now. This library is on the rise for being a true community hub - community programming for all ages, outdoor events, passes for museums and such, and much much more. Truly a gem within the OC community! Don’t stop doing what you are doing! Thank you!

The play area in the children’s section is great! I would give it 5 stars. There are a lot of empty shelves in the children’s section though. I don’t know if 50% of the books are checked out but all of the shelves are at least half empty. I would give the toddler storytime probably 2 stars. Mostly I have taken my son to the Ledding library storytime in Milwaukie. There is so much variety week to week and they do a craft each week afterwards that pertains to the theme of the day. Their space is small and crowded though. I have been to toddler storytime at the Oregon city library 3 times. The space they have for it is great but I’m not thrilled with the actual storytime or the teacher, Sabrina. Each week has been exactly the same just different books. So it’s the exact same songs every time. I guess if you do the same thing every time then you don’t have to prepare anything or be creative. Also I think maybe the teacher would work better with older more behaved children. I think it’s great to encourage children to sit and listen to a story but the reality is that they are toddlers. Toddlers are going to struggle with sitting still. They are going to shout at times, or run through the middle of the circle. After observing each of these three times, I get the impression that the teacher is frustrated with the children. It ends up feeling like a negative thing instead of a positive thing. I want my child to feel excited about storytime and learn to love to read. For these reasons I am going to stick to storytime at the leading library.

Good kid area. I just wish the doors weren't automatic entry. Kiddos can run out.

Joshua Shelton

Beautiful library. So nice.

Jacks Neubauer

Great spot, wonderful staff

Ash Ward

This library is amazing. Recently renovated with plenty of tables and space to chill out. Separate areas for various needs. Self check out machines. Friendly staff. In response to other reviews: lol libraries are not meant to be for quiet whispers and studying. Libraries are meant to be a resource to it's citizens. Even still I didn't find this location that noisy even after a toddler story time let out. Idk why all the complaints are about noise. Perhaps if you need silence to study, you should look into some academic libraries in the area. Maybe CCC let's public patrons study there. Academic libraries do tend to be quiet.

David Gregory

Great remodel on this library. They made really nice additions to this place.

John Ramsey

Very cozy with hardwood floors and a warm fireplace!

Not sure what the purpose of having a city library is when it has limited hours? Just watched six people try to come here between 6-6:15. This is defiantly a disservice to Oregon City, especially for those with jobs!

The remodeled building is nice. The book selection is pretty good. The staff is helpful. However, there doesn't seem to be any attempt at keeping the noise down, in fact, it seems that talking in a street voice and allowing kids to yell is the standard set by staff. I tried to study in the upstairs area by the window which is very nice - looks out on the street and has comfortable chairs and table, but many times the noise coming from the lobby area was so loud I couldn't concentrate. The sound from the lobby is magnified in the upstairs area. Perhaps this is the new etiquette in libraries, but it isn't conducive to reading or studying. Designating a quiet area would be helpful.

Very pleasant place to be at. Wi-fi works fast. Lots of interesting areas for kids to play at.

teddy butcher

My wife and son spend most of their time there. They love it!

Dan Cooley

I'm sure it's a nice library, but I went out of my way to visit and it is shut down for construction/renovation. Seems the entire park is. Would be nice for the library to update the Google info for this. Kind of an information thing.

Jere Burkholder

I love the location here. It is up on the hill and over looks the city, esp from the second story. The second story is great. Not many libraries have that. Nice and clean interior with creative decor.

Spencer Rosenau

The remodel is pretty great.

I positively love the library. I love everything about the place, even the smell of the books. Their selection is beyond excellent, audio books galore. Magazines to cruze through, big comfy chairs and even knitting classes and the one and only elevator book club. oregon city did a fantastic job and now it is so high tech you only have to breathe on a book and it checks itself out or in for you, now that is so cool!! Parking is a bit of a pinch, but that is because of these water fountains that allow the kids to run through and scream in delight at the peak of a hot day. There is a nice place to sit and let the water mist hit you and cool you down. it is such an awsome library, who could beat it, plus the staff are oh so nice and seem to never lose their professionalism. I positively love this place, this is my second home forever and ever lost in a good story.

Betsey Brown

Love this library. I take the kids once a week. The staff is great, programs are fantastic (lego lab is a blast), and the new building is gorgeous. The spray park is a lot of fun, too.

Timothy Diemer

An incredible library. New, great layout, reliable internet, friendly staff, clean, well litv, plenty of space to set up a laptop and work. Oregon City is lucky to have such a nice facility. Worked here for a few days while visiting the area.

Justin Couch

New expansion provides many new features and space for kids.
