Nice place to learn

It's a wonderful place accept for one clerk. It had been a minute since I been down there. Back when they didn't have express checkout. My experience with express checkout with movies at northeast branch is where they only scanned two out of five movies so I had to go check out with the clerk anyway which is fine. So instead of even wasting my time with express checkout, I went to the clerk and asked her to check it out. One they weren't even busy. Two she rudely told me I NEEDED to use to the express checkout and if I needed help she could show me how to do it. I told her I knew how to use it but I had a bad experience with them more than once. She goes well ours work you NEED to use it and I can help you learn (basically repeating herself when we could have been done by now) So I said nevermind and went to go checkout using express checkout because I didn't have time for her attitude. If I had caught her name I would give it to you and tell you to avoid her when asking for help. But other then that, beautiful library with big selection!

Terrible customer service!!!!.... I've purchased plenty of beverages at this coffee shop and never been treated as rudely as today.....it was completely obvious it was the color of my skin, African American woman, because she was extremely friendly to at least 3 customers after me, who were Caucasian......she acted as if I was annoying her asking about different drinks and flavors, when that was her job.....Being that your location is Centrally located, I'm certain it is a very diverse crowd.....and I certainly know color rudeness when I experience it......if your customer service is that offended by people of color, maybe their at the wrong location..

The plaza library has a lot of rude employees they do not smile or speak to you if you asked them a question they act like they are being put out. Some of them do not have name badges. What a unfriendly place this is and some of them need to find a job in a warehouse because they lack social skills. I hope that others that been treated this way would also express their experiences too.

This is actually the nicest branch of them all. But I digress. It is large, modern, and airy, with lots of glass and a great view. Very nice design, with a nice selection of books. I go through the history section often. Unfortunately, like many libraries, has become a haven for the odd. Fine. It takes a village - however librarians/staff do nothing about the unfortunates yelling and arguing with themselves. As if it is something normal. And act put out when you ask them to stand up from their desk perch and do something about it. Security gaurd will tell you you cant have a container/beverage, but won't tell the person across not to have a conversation on their CELL PHONE? It is such a nice location to study and get books from....but a zoo. Meh.

by far, the nicest homeless shelter in the area.

I don’t necessarily love this place but it’s a okay library. There are lots of computers with internet you can use. And of course you have to be member of public libraries, one membership will suffice for all the libraries in same city. To use the computer you have to enter the library card number with your pin. Now, you can enjoy your free browsing. You can search book from the catalog which are located in the middle, and lots of books are there. You can also lend CD or DVD but it’s borrowing time is limited to one week and fine is $1 per day, which seemed to be unpleasant for me. All books are allowed to keep 21 days except the new one which are one week also. There is no upstairs in this library, lifts are just for parking. I wish it has upstairs and, more places for exploring. By the way kids zone is really amazing. If you have kiddos don’t forget to bring them to this area.

Good location, in and out fast!

This is more of a taxpayer-funded public hangout space than a library. Nice building with a nice book collection, and they have good spaces for kids and teens. If you're coming here looking for peace and quiet to study or read, forget it. They allow loud noise and phone conversations but offer no quiet spaces other than study rooms that require booking in advance.

Its difficult to get into and there's no obvious signage to tell you where to go. The only place that says "Enter" is a side entrance youre not supposed to go through.

Isaac Pasley

My go-to place whenever I need to print anything. Love the windows with the panoramic views!

It’s a nice public library with very good collection of books for adults and kids. Many kids activities are going on. Friendly staff. They took me to the shelf and suggested books for my need . Bit noisy . Good parking space very close to it. Had enough chairs to accommodate 100 +people. Have some meeting rooms as well

Ed Tyler

Excellent location and great service. Very modern and in an excellent location. Regarding the guy who complained (Don Payne) about bad customer service because they don't greet you or smile, don't listen to him. The staff are attendants and librarians that only help or greet in the event you need service when you come to them. People can't smile 24/7 and the expectation for others to do so is ludicrous. Plaza library, keep doing what you are doing. The only con is that they are prone to getting some disruptive homeless people there; but if you alert security, they will usually take care of the problem.

People who plan on staying there all day and do your homework or work, NOTICE!!! They DONT allow "hot food" — which means real food other than candies and snacks — and YES, I'm quoting the security guard who came told me to put it away. And at this place you have morons laughing out loud at the computers but never got a warning from the authority. So UNLESS you have nowhere else to go work, DON'T COME HERE

Have been not only for open spacious library but downstairs events - great place for those community informative events !

Good location, quite decent selection of books, and plenty of computers. The staff are kinda standoffish, which is awkward, but I usually don't need to interact with them so it's fine.

Matthew Chrisman

This branch of KC public libraries is fantastic. They have their own parking garage, plenty of activities for young kids (coloring and puppets and art!) and a huge book selection for them, plus lots of new and current nonfiction books, novels, movies and cds! You can check books out in self-serve kiosks. There is a coffee shop in the front lobby, and chipotle and The Mixx and Yogurtini next door which all have patios where you can grab a book and hang out! It’s very cozy inside too (see pic). If you need to use the family restroom for your kids, ask for the key at the desk in the kids section. They do have free internet!

Small moves

Don't go to this library to read or study! It is extremely loud and the customer service of the receptionist was awful. I had reserved a book and it was not on the reserved shelf and was told to check the sheves and, it wasn't there either after talking with the receptionist a second time she reluctantly checked her cart and it was magically there. To top it off I got attitude from her every time.

It is the cleanest most professional library in the city and it also comes with the child Center I love that

Super lovely staff but some un addressed issues by management in regards noise. this branch being in downtown, it attracts many beggars who picked plaza as a bussiness location. they take all the prime seats and rudely speak loud. I wish someone in management do something as this is a great library and not fair to people who want to use it for its true purpose.they can ask their security or maybe dedicate one of the rooms as a quiet area or at least having a "no cell phone" "keep quiet" or "quite area" sign hanging but none has been done which reflects poor management.
