REVIEWS OF International Crane Foundation IN Wisconsin

jlbl1950 .

Such a wonderful place. They have cranes from all over the world. They're kept in a more natural habitat. Like the sandhill cranes, through places like the International Crane Foundation, they'vebeen brought back from being an endangered species.

Les Pennington

Much better reason for a trip through the dells. They do a lot of good work there and you get to see all kinds of cool cranes. They also have a large looking nature trail, have not used it myself Went here for my sister's birthday

Richard Bobholz

Great place to see cranes (the birds). The layout and exhibits are really nice and the staff is incredibly friendly. Be sure to check out the nature trails while you're there.

cher reynolds

They have the 15 species of cranes available for viewing. Some of them are on the endangered species list, which is really sad. The cranes seemed to be well cared for and in clean environments. There are free electric scooters available for the disabled, which really helps. It was a great place to visit.

Jim Horst

Interesting place. Non-profit that does great work. Friendly, well informed staff, must visit if you are into birds or the environment.

David Skeen

The tour was interesting and the different cranes were wonderful to watch. However, some of the pens are long and narrow, and the cranes sometimes stay at the back preventing a good view. Also, some of the cranes stay in their enclosure and cannot be viewed. The Whooping Crane exhibit had one crane visible but the angle for the viewing area was awkward. The foundation does good work but my sense was they tolerate visitors rather than encourage them. Nice gift shop.

reid strand

Beautiful birds and natural prairie trails.

H8theRake

Outstanding facility.

A Google User

Totally disappointed. We were told we had to watch a 15 minute video and then go on a GUIDED tour that lasted 1 1/2 - 2 hours. The website says "You may also explore the site on your own". There were not many cranes, maybe 1-2 in every other cage. Not meant for kids, especially when it's 90° out and the tour moves at a snails pace.

Deb Leeb

Very interesting and educational all 15 species of cranes in 1 place

Tammi Besl

They really make it like the cranes natural environment

Suzanne Smith

Great place to stop and see a variety of cranes from around the world.

Sally Knoll

Beautiful and peaceful area. It was raining and we came with a disabled guest-they had a motorized scooter for her and umbrellas for all of us! It was an awesome experience seeing 13 of the 15 crane species they have. We went with two teenagers and they both enjoyed it.

Christina Ackerman

The ICF does what it does really well. Birders and natural history lovers will enjoy the excellent facilities, interpretation and information on cranes' plight and the international community's fight to protect these unique, graceful birds. Families may not find a lot of bang for their buck here, as cranes aren't too entertaining and there's not much kid-oriented activity. There are beautiful trails and grounds, however, so kids have lots of room to run around and get some exercise. Pretty amazing that one person started this world-class facility on some family farm land!

Henry Johannes

Great cause. Membership is a great deal.

The first time I was yelled at and enjoyed it (two of the cranes were quite vocal with us!) Thoroughly enjoyable experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, so much so that we decided to become members of the flock! We will be back(for free!) and plan on bringing others!

Conservation at it's best. Educating the public, working with local governments around the world, preserving natural habitats, and protecting endangered species. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the gift shop has cool things, but NOTHING compares to seeing the cranes, listening to them call, and watching them dance.

Eric Veatch

Wonderful display!

Paula Blackford

Not much to see. Rather disappointing experience. Especially that their sidewalks are made out of GLASS yes glass. Me and my girls were constantly picking out little glass chips out of our sandals.

What a fantastic destination! Not only will you have the opportunity to see all 15 species of cranes of the world, but they have some of the best examples of preserved and restored prairies you’ll find anywhere.

The cranes the cranes! Great way to get up close and personal with these lovely creatures as well as get educated. Must see.

Facinating place. When we were there the cranes seemed as curious about us as we were them so they came right up to the fence allowing for great pics and close ups. Its worth the time.

Wonderful place to see all the crane species in the world, the only place actually. Nice grounds and walking trails. Go and support them.

ann klask

I support anyone helping wildlife abd they try hard. The place is very clean . Although not good for children , no shade and only restrooms at the entrance . I was unaware they dont rescue birds they just have cranes. Most of which you cant see and the birds get mad and squak when you watch them. Better for if you want a safe place to hike and support a good cause. If you arent really into cranes only or hiking a lot than dont. Personally got annoyed by constantly being told by workers no way ive seen a " crane " when I grew up in florida and saw them all the time. Pretty boring exhausting hike if you arent very obsessed with cranes. Thought with such a big area theyd at least have a rescued chipmunk .nope And no interaction with birds is allowed you only see them at very far distance.definantly for enthusiasts or members of foundation not a attraction.

Jeff Bennett

Great place and folks

Awesome and peaceful place. If there's a place in the world you can call magical would look like this one. The staff is always happy to help and very kind. The smell on summer is marvelous.

Amanda Koslowski

I was so excited- a local artist just happened to mention this place to me while I was viewing her gallery, and when I arrived I was anything but disappointed. It was an amazing and educational experience, and I was so thrilled to get to see so many beautiful birds- every type of crane there is! Looking forward to revisiting in 2020 when all the exhibit reconstruction is done :)

Ryan Prechel

This is one of my "must visit once with your children" places for residents of Central Wisconsin.

Fabulous destination. Ability to see most of the world's crane species is a real treat. The Whooping Crane exhibit is the best available. The work being accomplished by the ICF is nothing shy of amazing. Kudos!

Charli Mills

This incredible crane sanctuary began with the intent to save the whooping cranes. Now the sanctuary remains the only place in the world to home all 15 cranes. Each species has a survival plan and the sanctuary works with other centers to help these birds continue and thrive. Some of the whooping cranes are even released into the wild. Membership is highly recommended. Not only do you get access to other facilities across the nation, you get to support the preservation of the cranes. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The facility is accessible and even provides a few handicap chairs, cold drinking water, and places to sit and observe. They are also walking loops for the avid birder to enjoy reclaimed prairie and woodlands.
