Very crowded but awesome views of the apes/gorillas. I saw at least three baby gorillas too!

Some amazing beasts in here but i couldn't help feeling a little sad as the apes didn't have a huge amount of space to play and move about.

I agree with the other 1 star review pointing out the inadequacy of this facility. Given the precedent set by other zoological parks (thinking San Diego and North Carolina), this facility is inadequate. The pins are too small, with too little artifacts for mental stimulation and social exploration. The accompanying outside facility is also too small. Have these animals every run more than 15ft? And the worst part is that their demeanor seems to reflect this state of existence. In the end, this place left me a little heavy hearted.

Very small and it can become congested quickly. It has a few big areas for the animals to roam, and there's a small area outside.

As soon as I walked in I left. The first thing I saw was a gorilla inside a cage who seemed bored out of his mind, and trying to avoid people. Not good

The apes hide in the corners and if you're not up on them all you'll see is a glare of the people. The orangataungs were up on their crossing line with a small child sized one as well.

I'm giving it a "1 star" ONLY because this area is way too small for these animals. A zoo under the Smithsonian name needs to do better. I know it can't be done overnight but the animals looks so bored and cramped.
