This place is awesome! I could spend the entire day looking at the animals and also the fish. On top of all of that the scenery is so relaxing. It’s educational and the staff is so friendly and nice. I can’t wait to visit again!

Sheina Gonzalez

I love this museum! We got the family pass and go as often as we can. All staff members are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. My two year old likes to run around in the dinosaur area and end the visit playing in the play-kitchen/ vet area. This museum is clean and safe. Great for family fun.

Sean Russ

The Living Museum has lots of displays of animals and fish native to Virginia. The outdoor walking exhibits are covered with good shade and they have a cool Bobcat. The Otter display is really cool too. As you walk along outside, you get to walk through an aviary. They also have Red Wolves and Coyoties. They also have spot a tree that help you identify trees native to Virginia. They also have an observatory as well as a telescope that you can actually look directly at the sun!

JENNIFER HULIT

My toddler loves this place. The outdoor walk has different rescued animals (bald eagle, vulture, wolves, fox etc.) The dinosaur exhibit on the nature walk is my daughter's favorite. Inside they have aquariums and a small hands on tank with different crabs. The food in their cafeteria is average. I'd recommend eating somewhere else before or after you go. Overall a fun experience for the little ones.

Trista Wilt

Great time for families or couples! The outside animals are most active in the morning. Lots to see and it never gets boring!

Tiffany Mangigian

We really enjoyed this! Although a one thing that were a little upsetting we have a science museum pass and were told we could use it here! Which was a huge disappointment after a 2 hr drive. But it was fun and the kids enjoyed themselves

Sarah Polak

The kids and I love coming here. It is a great wayto escape the summer heat as well as keep the kids engaged and educational activities.

Dolly Tantrum

This place is great for indoor or outdoor exploration! The inside is very clean and there are many exhibits to walk through. When you go outside the trees provide a lot of shade and there are animals outside as well. The dinosaur park is great for younger children. Also, after all of the walking that you'll do the cafeteria has great, fresh made sandwiches and snacks.

Karen Smith

The kids had a blast and so did the adults. They have a cafe we didn't have a chance to check out but we did check out the gift shop which to my amazement was really reasonably priced.

Jennifer Abrecht

Nice semi-small museum. we did the behind the scenes tour which was very cool! Indoor and outdoor exhibits.

Megan Mickle

Prices are a little high for being a small place. I would highly recommend for family with younger children. As for a day date for couples place is a little boring. Some animal exhibits were closed. The outdoor area is ok. If it wasn’t for the shark exhibit right now it wouldn’t be as of a good time.

Catherine McNeal

Could definitely be an all day adventure with young children. Outdoor trails to exhibits. Planetarium show is about 20 minutes which is such a good length of time for relatively young children's attention spans. Demonstrations on feeding the sea/river life too, and a reasonably priced cafe for meals.

Melissa Puccino

Great family fun... Lots to see and do. Military discount is only a dollar which is a bit sad but lots of fun

Winter Whisper

It's hard to rate this place. On the one hand, it's one of the cheaper places to get in (unlike the Richmond Zoo). It's pretty quiet (when people mind their children). The gift shop isn't extravagantly over priced, and there is lots of nature to explore. But the animals are always so bored and depressed. Nothing ever changes in their small enclosures. They're always pacing around the same small tracks over and over again. Sure they're lives were saved by being rescued, but what kind of life is worth living if you're lonely and bored?

Kevin Hunt

The Virginia Living Museum is wonderful! We frequented this place when my son was much younger. He is eighteen now and wanted to revisit today. The exhibits are well done, staff are friendly, facilities are clean, and the cafe food is excellent. Our favorite part is the outdoor gardens and exhibits. Beautiful and fun place for the family (no matter the ages).

Nyeema Quinniey

This was a excellent hands on experience for all ages. Great trip for scouts to complete nature metit badge. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Would go back again for sure.

Jen Brennan

Great for our toddler age kids and parents too. If we lived here we would consider membership for sure!

Josue Nieves

My partner and I became members after realizing we go to the VLM enough every year to warrant it. Great natural history museum. Museum houses exhibits on all the local ecosystems found in Virginia with fantastic animal displays and aquariums. Definitely a great place to bring children or visitors who are experiencing Virginia for the first time and want to lear more about our plant and animal neighbors.

mike crea

Awesome place for the kids. Had an amazing time here

Dave Moffatt

I've always loved this museum. Many live exhibits inside and out.

Timothy Wenson

Love this place! Every time we're in town we come (3x so far). Very well maintained exhibits, extensive trails, and they've added amazing dinosaur statues and play area since the last time we've come. Our kids, 4 and 6, loved the Dino area. The staff are very friendly and patient with kids. Great place to bring young kids; the gift shop is reasonably priced too!

Stacy Litchford

Attended a wedding here last night. What a great venue. They even bring the animals around during the reception. I have also been a repeat visitor to the museum. Always a great way to spend the day.

Missmae 2014

Went to the Pirate/Mermaid Pajama party. So much fun!

Katherine Hurley

Wonderful place to bring the family. It's on the smaller side of things so it is great for small childen and the elderly.

georgina nunberg

Amazing exhibits. Super kid friendly. Long boardwalk good for tiring put toddlers and the dinosaurs are awesome

Eryn Tribble

Great place for young to middle aged kids in most weather. Lots of walking and things to see. Comfortable for parents. Full service cafeteria and family friendly bathrooms.

Arla Carper

Great place for kids & adults alike! Very interesting & educational.

Michael leech

What a great asset to our community! Our kids love the VLM and we enjoy taking them here. They rotate exhibits so it's not boring, and the volunteers always are friendly and helpful!

Connie Butler

To me the price is really not worth it. The aquarium in va beach is bigger and better. I wish I would have gotten a year pass over there instead. We wanted to try something different with my grandbabies and with everyone going it was cheaper for a membership almost. I wish I could get a refund and buy the other pass instead. I also agree with the hours needed to ge open later. Can you use this membership anywhere else. If so please contact me by phone or emai . You can get my information off of my membership. I also still have not received my membership cards yet. It's been around 3 weeks or so I think. Connie Butler Like

The perfect place to enjoy local wildlife amongst the beautiful forest that surrounds the museum. It's really amazing to see this Virginian animals in there natural habitat so up close and personal. If you aren't a member yet you have to sign up. It's so worth it.

Anita Webb

Great gift shop. Educational and fun!

Patricia Prunty

Beautiful place! Lots to see and do. Staff friendly and helpful. They let us know what was going on and how it is a sanctuary for animals & birds etc and not a zoo. I would definately recommend this place. Had a great time!!

Austin Munden

The animals are almost as rad as the kids who are running around living their best lives. Everybody working is super informed and helpful and r a d

Marianne Berckmans

Lovely shaded walkway through the outdoor exhibits. Animals had plenty of space in natural environment. Great interactive experiences indoors, and out in the Dinosaur area.

steven mcvicker

For what it's worth it is a very nice place to take the kids and see some pretty cool fish. The dinosaur park is why we went for our toddlers and they loved it. The bald eagles up close was amazing and I enjoyed the endangered sturgeon fish . The outdoor animals are all super old. I think they said the coyote is 17 year old and is blind and deaf with a few others having recently passed on (wolves I think). Not sure if they are replacing the animals but if there is a specific something your looking for then call ahead and make sure it's avalable.

Thitaporn Seriruk

Great place for kids to explore. Very well organized. Impressive!

Shurel Griffin

Great family adventure . A bit pricey for all that is not included in admission

Sonya Harris

It's a wonderful place for preschoolers. The aquarium was really nice too. I would like to have seen more living animals on the outside trails.

Mrs. Toya D.

There is a LOT here to see and the aquarium areas are completely amazing! I thought this was going to be a quick trip in and out but I spent like 3+ hours in here.

kc smith

My group had passes for admission. Cool walking trails and inside cool and clean. Love bathroom at lobby.....good place for children.

Becca Greggs

I held my son's first birthday party here and it was awesome! Aiden helped out my party and he was attentive, helped with whatever we needed, had answers or would quickly find them. The employee (I'm sorry I forgot her name) who brought the animals in was great personality, wonderful with the children and very knowledgeable. All.of the employees were impeccable. My son and his guest had an amazing time! Thank you for making his mother extremely happy.

Paul Cisneros

Place is an awesome day out, kids loved it and my girlfriend is plotting to steal the raccoon Jk kidding about the raccoon.

Fatherpat 44 Games

We went as a family and the place is cool could be better thought. My daughter loved it though so overall its a good place and lots of cool things to see and learn about.

Troy Washington

Recommend buying the family pass. $110 for a family of 4 season pass vs $66 for a 1 day pass. It will save you tons and give the kids plenty to do. Very diverse place. And all planetarium shows are free with season pass, they are otherwise $4 per show per person.

Karen Costa

Had a great time but so sad to see so many animals that have been rescued in the zoo. But thankfully they atleast are being taken care of now!

Bianca Kauffman

Our family loves this place. So much to do and see. A membership is a must! Dinosaur discovery park is outdoors and super fun for kids to explore. Archaeological dig tents set up with fossils and historical pieces from the local area. The pet keeper and veterinarian area for the children to pretend and play is well loved by our daughters. We also enjoy the aquariums inside the museum. There are so many great exhibits!

Quinton Groth

Loved the exhibits and was alot of fun! It was a great day for a date

Sarahbeth Hawksley

This is a smaller museum but well worth the trip! Displays are set up different than most museums in that they are very open and have the natural feel they would be in nature. Cool touch tank too!

Rose Martinez

Highly recommended museum for family. My kids enjoys this place a lot they had so much fun with the statues specially that they look real.. the place was also clean pretty good management.

Jonathan Rivera

Price a little steep but I think it's worth. Nice place for a walk. 5 yo and 1 yo Loved it will be coming back.

Nicole Schlau

Wow what a cool place. The staff is all so nice especially the people at the touch pools - also very knowledgeable. A lot of exhibits and information. Outdoor setup was amazing. Even the food in the cafe is good

Nicole Dillon

Took about 2 hours to do the inside and outside exhibits. We skipped the dinosaurs, but I'm sure kids would love it. The outdoor areas were shady and nice. There was a lot to see here.

Jessica Fielder

We love the Living Museum and are members. We go time and time again and enjoy walking the trails, the season exhibits and visiting our favorite animals and letting the kids play. There is SO much interactive play for kids here, from the little Children’s playground garden with the hobbit house, to the Dino world playground and the Vet clinic, the kids have a blast every time. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to teach and explain. Absolutely recommend and will be renewing our membership!

Connie E

Get the pass, it’s great for kids to learn more about nature, this is the best place for it. I’m so happy the added the dinosaur area.

KD Carlton

The Virginia Living Museum, I truly enjoy going to. I think it is a very neat place to go to. I really enjoy seeing how they have the natural outdoor exhibits, then they have the variety of different environmental exhibits inside the building.

Caseylynn Seaver

This place was awesome. It was my first time going with my husband and kids. It was one of the cleanest places like this that I have been to. It was very noticeable. You could spend 1 hour here or 4. The dinosaur trail was a HUGE hit with my kids. We signed up for the membership right after our first visit. They have an awesome play pretend veterinarian center that the kids can dress up and care for pretend stuffed animals. It was great! They had a area to weigh and measure them, and an xray center. We will definitely be going back, many many times.

Shane Mac

Super cool place for all ages, great staff too.

Curnell Westbrook

One if Virginia's best kept secrets. Small but packs a lot of information and offers a great selection of animals. We will definitely be visiting again. Great place if you have kids however it was just my wife and I and were had a great time as well.

Lori Mckenzie

Love it. Small museum, great for smaller children or someone just looking to get some education. Friendly, young staff. Animals well taken care of.

Deana Porter

This is a great place to bring the kids. We really enjoyed our time here. Watching the fish get fed was a fun experience.

Frugal Frit

My kids love it. Loads to do each time we go. We have a membership and it has been well worth the money. Planetarium, outdoor zoo, fish aquarium area, observatory and me exhibits added every few months

Cornell Robinson

Wonderful museum. I was there for a wedding but the exhibits were open

Steve Gee

Great place to take children of all ages. Has indoor and outdoor exhibits so an ideal place in all weather.

Lianne H

We love it here! We've been members for years and it's always fun and educational for the kiddos. It's a great place to go in the summer when it's too hot to be at a playground in the sun, and the rotating exhibit is always interesting. My girls love the dinosaurs and special events!

Steve Kargman

Nice place. Interesting exhibits. Great for kids under 13 but my 16 and 20 year olds really enjoyed it too.

Chris Strum

This is a great place to bring the whole family. Always an interactive and educational experience with lots of things to see and learn both indoors and out, no matter what the weather. There is a changing exhibit area (currently SharkZone, as of this review June 2019) but we always discover new things as well as old favorites whenever we visit.

Nathan Laird

We loved this place! Great place to take the kiddos and see the wildlife that is around VA. Also has pretty good food and the grift shop has very good prices! We were very happy to taking our time both inside and out.

Janice K

My husband found this place for our nephews. They are 4 and 2 and LOVE animals. They were able to see many different species of birds, fish, and amphibians. They also had a dino exhibit which they did not stop talking about for most of our vacation. The museum employees are very knowledgable and kind. They answered our nephews questions and shared with them new information about the animals they were observing. If you have small children who have a passion for animals stop here and you will make some awesome memories!

Latoya MzCeo2u

I totally love this place.. great for family's. Very educational. Reasonable price as large as it is...

Kay West

Great place to visit takes a couple hours. It's good in morning not to busy and not to hot. If you have questions you can ask there are lots for kids and adults to enjoy, things change every year so yeha it's pretty great.

Chief R

Nice place. More frequent show times for the planetarium would be nicer.

Robbie Pritchett

Very interesting place! Very organized place. This place is great for all ages.

Jonathan McKenzie

It Was Super Fun And I Enjoyed It All Of My Friends. But I Feel Like There Was A Small Bit Of Need For Exhibits But Overall It Was Really Fun.

Katherine Franklin

Chaperoned a 3rd grade field trip. Kids loved it, plenty of space to explore, especially outside. Museum provided scavenger hunt questions to help kids spend a little time reading information plaques. Dinosaur area was an especially big hit, they could have spent the whole time there if allowed. Variety of birds in the aviary were easy to find. Outdoor animals were fairly active and easy to find in the morning hours. Lots of great information in each area and helpful docents along the way.

David R. VanDinter

This was a great surprise. A great place for adventurous children and adults. Mixing the best of ocean adventure and sea creatures with some of the woods and wildlife Virginia and the East Coast has to offer! The Shark exhibit was OK, but provided a large amount of information that fulfilled our curiosities. Though it didn't calm our fears of sharks, it did answer a lot of questions about their habitats. The cost was a bit much, but knowing the proceeds are going towards their mission of saving wild life makes it well worth every penny!

Sneha H S

This is a zoo with many other exhibits (pictures, structures, plant and tree species, etc. ) and study centers. The indoor exhibits have elaborate details and fun facts. The cave inside was wow. The board walk around the lake on the outside was pleasant. You could see several water animals and fish, land animals, and birds. There is a small children's garden, and aviary. The dinosaur discovery center was impressive- with life- size exhibits, a paleo field camp, a dig pit, and more. It is possible to rush through the exhibits in less than 2 hours, planning for 3 hours would be great. The planetarium on site had shows too. The cafe had few vegetarian options.

Breonah Thayer

The coolest place I’ve been in a while. It was just my husband and I, we had a blast!

Domenick M

Starting to look a bit run down and overgrown since its opening .most animal were sleeping. But my son enjoyed it.

Katherine Alvarez

Worth seeing. Beautiful setting, wonderful exhibits. Our enjoyment started at the ticket booth. James explained what we get for the admission price and other exhibitions with an additional minimal fee along with the benefits of becoming a member. Beautiful exhibits with explanations of what each fish, shark, snake, etc., was. You could pet some and touch other aquatic wildlife with the help of the guides. Very informative. We did not have time to go to the Planetarium. From what I understand, they do vary exhibits periodically. There was a family having a birthday party for their little girl on one of the patios. So refreshing.

Amanda Jando

Amazing museum! Has lots to look at and interact with. And the nature trail is awesome.

John Schreiber

Nice place to get out of the heat and has a great walking path.

Alessa Twomey

The Living Museum is a great little place with lots of cool animals to see. The people working there really care about the animals, none of which would be able to survive in the wild. They are also very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about their charges. I greatly enjoy visiting there and it is also good for repeat visists, as the exhibits and activities change.

diana burson

Wonderful facility with indoor and outdoor live Virginia animals. Terrific indoor discovery areas for young children, and detailed information for older children and adults. Planetarium is a bonus. Check out special events on website.

Micah Duggins-Warf

We bought a membership on our very first visit last summer. This is an absolutely wonderful museum. There are so many cool exhibits, and there are so many different kinds of fish and wildlife here that I am surprised every time we visit by something I hadn't seen at the last visit. Our kids will play in the museum and run around in the gardens and on the trails for hours. The VLM's dedication to preservation and restoration is impressive and inspiring.

Cheshire Cat

Went during the winter for whatever reason. Was still fun using imagination. Red pandas were the cutest thing

Kaitlyn Wolverton

You have a single beaver in entirely too small of an enclosure. The poor animal is constantly trying to go swim in the entire lake instead of the little bit of shore it gets to live in. I just... Animals should not be exhibited in a "museum" or in that small of captivity. A tiny tank for two otters? The selfishness of humans is incomprehensible to me. Who decided to mark off this small of an area and profit off the inhumane conditions of WILDLIFE. Truly sickening to me. The animals should be a priority not the cash in your pocket. I can't stop thinking of that poor beaver constantly trying to swim away to enjoy his life without prying eyes.

Matt Keith

This place is spectacular. Much larger than expected too. I went to a child's birthday party here. The setup seemed perfect and all the kids loved it. Free museum passes for the all guests too. Highly recommended!

Lara Brown

A great museum that is really more of a zoo that specializes in native species. A great place to learn about the wildlife surrounding us. The otters are one of my favorites. Don't miss the Reptile Weekend they have every March!

M Z

This is an excellent zoo/museum which is designed to be taken in by children. There are many outdoor and indoor exhibits and animals, and many hands on learning stations. If you go in shoulder season on a weekday, parking and making your way through the place is easy and relaxing.

Daniel Harrell

Awesome place. I think the cherry on top was the fact that they take part in the rescue and rehabilitation of the almost endangered red wolf! My daughter also had what seemed to be, the time of her life! Thank you for the experience!

Janice D Moore

My first time at the Virginia Living Museum and had a great time. Love seeing all the animals. Lot of stuff for the kids to do and interact with. Great family fun with lots to do. Can't wait to be able to go in the summer time.

Stacia Baker

I took 3 of my grandchildren and we had a nice time. There was a lot of walking and the heat outside was a bit overwhelming, but we saw some great animals and had a good time.

L Miller

Great place to visit with your family. The animals were really active today which was a nice change. They are usually all sleeping. The racoons we're washing their faces and wandering around. The wolf was running through the pen. Couldn't see the skunk but could definitely smell him

Raye Harville

I went on their birthday (only $1!) and thought it was cute. The exhibits are informative, a lot of them are hands on, and the aquarium is vast! The outdoor section is clean, and can be as long as you want. Great place to take the kids (even your inner one) to learn more about the fauna we share this beautiful state with.

Pattie Delaney

Just fabulous! Perfect for all ages, beautifully kept. Amazing, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Perfect to bring small children for a relaxing, fun filled afternoon.

Cimarron El

Wonderful experience!!! I loved the combination of aquariums, indoor animal exhibits, hands-on exhibits and the nature trail. Everything about Virginia terrestrial landscape, celestial view with observatory and planetarium, animals, plants & herbs. All from a pre colonial point of view. Native Indigenious people only represented by 2 tribes. The cafe food was good. I liked the chicken salad sandwich. Crab cake sandwich tasted fishy. Onion rings were great. The souvenir shop had cool items that were unique for the home and great conversation pieces. Example floating planets that rotate off of solar power magnetic engineering. A great all day adventure!!!!

Becca Lynn

This is my favorite place to bring my daughter she loves sea animals and it is educational!

Kelly Murphy

Lots of interesting exhibits. Beautiful walking trails. Clean and well kept. Love the baby sharks

Nancy Fidler

Great learning experience!! Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Museum very clean. Will definitely be visiting again!!

Theresa Coleman

It has so cute animals staff are sweet and,all animals are saved not captured

Donnell Lyons

The Virginia Living Museum is a great place for people of all ages to enjoy the nature habitat of all Virginia wildlife. The best exhibit was the dinosaur exhibit my children really in enjoyed. They also have the shark exhibit, which gave an in depth information on all shark species. Overall great place to visit on con is the $20 per person, but worth it.

Dave Gilmore

very enjoyable went there today at Granddaughter's request ages 4 & 7

Jillian Holladay

Lots to see and do here. Well trained and friendly staff and volunteers. An annual membership is a great edutainment value.

Maria Alessandra Galli

Very nice exhibits for kids. The Virginia environment part is very interesting as well, both oudoors and indoors.

Scotty Adams

Virginia Living Museum has been one of my favorite places to go study up on the solar system and on what the astronauts did up on the moon and so much more for when I was there with my cousin Tonya and aunt Juanita a long time ago. The workers there are really nice and friendly.

Paula Nurse

Wonderful Museum! Could have spent the whole day there!

Adam Smith

This is a great place for kids, outdoor paths with animal enclosures as well as touch tanks and exhibits inside

Scott ferrell

Great little living museum in town. We had the annual pass for the entire time I lived there. The indoor portions were always fun to explore and my kids liked it too. There is a good sized boardwalk out back, however a few of the enclosures need to be updated. Place is always clean and welcoming.

Crystal AustinWong

This place was fantastic to bring our 3 year old to! She enjoyed the Shark and dinosaur exhibit the most but we enjoyed the animals as well. Fun activities for all ages and enjoyable for us adults as well. If you're in the area, especially with kids, this is a must do activity!

Michael Gurule

Best place for children to learn and have some fun. Always a new event going on. Daughter age 2 loves it.

Branden Randall

Very lackluster if you're going to see animals unfortunately. Clean facilities and it looked like kids were enjoying themselves. $20 for an adult is steep for the lack of animals. (Not a Zoo though)

rhinda piggee

I wanted something for my granddaughter and myself to do..so I chose VLM. There was so much to for both of us.She really enjoyed the dinosaur area and the kids keeper area downstairs. It's a fun time for the family.

Fifa Mia

Fun for adults too! Upon looking at the reviews of this museum, I was under the impression that it was oriented towards younger kids, but I decided to visit with my Girlfriend and we were both pleasantly surprised. Lots of exhibits and information presented clearly in immaculately maintained displays. Their aquarium displays (especially the freshwater exhibits) were some of the most cleanest and pristine I had ever seen, and I have visited tons of museums. Definitely worth the price of admission, I'll be coming back in the future :)

Cheyenne Harris

The museum is a little small, but there are lots of interactive exhibits for children. Of all the animals, my daughter's favorite was the black vulture.

Mic Platt

A great place for locals and out-of-towners to visit. Kids will love all the tanks, aquariums, displays, and interactive presentations! The touch tank is amazing! The outdoor walk is relaxing and educational! Please "like" my review if it helped you.

Becka Drum

I don't recommend going in early spring (like I just did) if you want to see a lot of living things. But the weather was great and most of the good stuff is outside, so we did well - even if the plant life looked dead and the animals were hiding. Kids LOVED the dinosaur area and the hobbit hole, none of them were overly impressed with anything inside. I definitely suggest a day with nice weather. This was my second time, and both trips were big group/school trips, both times 5th graders (10-11 year olds). The kids had fun for a few hours but there was only enough to entertain them for a few hours.

lisa barber

Had an awesome visit to see all the animals, took many pics, seen some interesting looking lizards,

Danny Bouldin

We went to the laser show. It was a great nostalgic walk back to the late 80's early 90's show. We enjoyed it very much. And you cant beat $6 for the show.

Shawn T. Dash PhD

Hot dignity dog. Great place for kids, family, or just to explore without all of that. Great information and many species to observe and learn about

matthew arbor

Wide variety. Something for everyone. Highly interactive. Great for learning. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Rotating exhibits so it never gets old. And... AMAZING CAFETERIA. The last one was a complete surprise and this is where most attractions fail to deliver. I'm considering eating there on regular work lunches regardless of the museum.

Brendan Pope

We absolutely love the living museum. If you live in the Hampton Roads area and you have kids, you simply must invest in a membership. It's so simple and wonderful to stop by and run around with the little ones. There's so much to see and do and learn. I love the aquarium, and every kid who's ever seen it loves the dinosaur exhibit. There's a revolving exhibit space that's always something new (currently sharks).

Amanda Gill

So many things for our three year old to do and explore. We had to force him to move on to each new area because he was having so much fun. We loved preparing meals in the Animal Care area, building on the dinosaur dig, and cleaning the Hobbit house. If we lived closer, we'd get a membership.

Matthew Wilson

Great place to take the kids and to check out wildlife. The admission was pricey, $34 for each adult which I thought was a lot considering all we did was walk around. Great location and well maintained.

Elizabeth Alves

Great value for your money. Way bigger than advertised. Awesome outdoor exhibits.

Amber Carpenter

Very fun museum,my kids and I go regularly. We've attended fun and interactive Birthday parties here as well.

Fran Cintron

It was a fun time but it was a little pricey for not too Much too see. We got rained on as Doon ad we went on the outside trail but at least my daughter loved the dinosaur park. Attached are many pictures of the kids stuff. Cool play vet area, though.

lilo is not so cool

Its super fun my 6 yo sister loved it to

Emily Steele

Indoor and outdoor exhibits. A lot of educational and interactive exhibits regarding all aspects of nature. Helpful staff. Don't forget to stop by the gift shop, a lot of fun finds in there.

Sami Sankey

Great place to bring kids of all ages. Definitely reccomend the membership. Take the kids for a couple hours whenever.

Jessica Buffett

I love this place and how interactive it is. Definitely good for the whole family!

Bill Pollitz

Lots of fun things to see and learn fir kids of all ages. Sign up for membership as the displays change often.

Kylie Jerkins

This was such a neat attraction and one of my favorite things about visiting this area. They give military personal $1 off, which is still expensive, but worth every penny. My husband and I were able to spend at least 4 hours just waking around looking at the animals.

michael burns

It's amazing for kids. You can see animals and there are kids play stations along the way. It was my daughter's favorite part of our whole vacation. Also the dinosaur trail was a big hit.

M. Marzulla

This place is awesome! You can easily spend a couple hours here. The exhibits are all pretty cool, and I really enjoyed seeing the Otters and the areas in the greenhouse. The dinosaur area is clearly for children, but since that was only one small aspect of the entire park, it was not a big deal at all. We saw a show in the observatory, which was cool, though a little dated (it was the "astronaut" one) so I recommend the "Virginia Sky" show if you have an option. The museum has a large outside trail that takes you to many different exhibits which was really cool, including an aviary and a wooded area with some mountain cats and foxes. The staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area and looking for something to do!

Kelli-Ann David

Great place! I could probably spend most of the day there if I could.

Aron Griffith

Took my little boy thats four to the Virginia living museum It was a blast very nice facility I’ve been going here since 1990

Tammy Perkins

It was nice and different, good place for family and things for kids too do

Patricia Burke

My two 7 year old grandsons really enjoyed all the hands-on experiences and I appreciated all the signs with information. Great visit.

Haylee's World

Love this place! This was our first time (justed moved down here

Trevor Denny

Fun and easygoing atmosphere for people of all ages. They have a wide variety of plant life, shrubbery and trees which shelter local and exotic animals. The sea and freshwater exhibits were very similar to the Virginia beach aquarium and quite delightful. They have a small petting station for both young and old to touch and experience the textures of many aquatic species. A must go for lovers of learning and animals. And an interesting perspective for the botanical community.

Make sure you leave yourself enough time to explore, I would suggest at least two hours. So much to look at and a really great staff.

This is Newport News treasure. Kind of hidden but well worth the visit. The planetarium is closed till the end of September for renovations. There are lots of special events scheduled and even they change with the seasons. Well worth multiple visits!

A great place for everyone to enjoy outdoor natural views, lake, tree, bridge,.. and seeing all of other live animals, fish, etc.. inside the museum.

Very fun place for the kids to visit and learn. Lot of interactive stations all around the building. Throw in the very knowledgeable staff and you have a wonderful family outing area.

Donald Milam

We took the teens here and they enjoyed the indoor aquarium animals and outdoor animals. They were not excited about the dinosaurs but enjoyed the rest. You get get a discount as a AAA member. Its small but bigger than we anticipated. Boardwalk leads you around the outdoor animals and it's about 3/4 of a mile. Around $20 per person without a discount. It has a cafe and gift shop. good show Kelly Howard impressed me and my friends.I would highly suggest a visit to VLM when you are in town.

This place is amazing. The boardwalk overlooks so many beautiful habitats, the water life is wonderful to see, and the assortment of native plants is top-notch. I highly recommend you visit

Had children 2-13 with me during our visit , everyone thoroughly enjoyed the entire day! We spent about 4 hours seeing everything ( with the exception of the planetarium)

This is a nice museum for the family. We came in late February and it was not crowded. My kids are 8 and 11 and they had a great time. We bought the membership and came for two half days. We also have other museums in the list that we want to visit, so the membership was worth it. The American Adventure is here now. The kids really liked it, they died about 4 or 5 times each.

We have had a family membership now for the last 5 years or so. Definitely get our money's worth out of it! Great fun activities for the kids, lots of interesting displays, and just a beautiful outdoor space.

Daphne Ratliff

It was so cool to look at all of the cool things. To see all of the animals you wouldn't normally get to see, it was not a zoo though. This was a cool and interesting experience. I didn't get to go everywhere, but I would highly recommend this place.

I visited the Virginia Living Museum this past Saturday with my son, sister, and nephew. We all had an amazing time. Not only was the staff amazing, but they were also able to answer all of our questions with ease. The kids really enjoyed the wide variety of animals as well as the dinosaur play area. My sister and I were blown away by the aquarium exhibits and the variety of fish. While there we also enjoyed food from the cafe. It was delicious and the prices were good. Last but not least we went to the gift shop before leaving. They had a wide variety of gifts for all ages. We all had a blast and will certainly be back. I highly recommend the Virginia Living Museum to anyone who is looking for a great place to take the family. You won't regret it!!

Every time we go i get to see something new, today was their new beaver, she was swimming around eating fruit being very playful. And they have a new crocodile, just sunning himself.

We went for adult night. Craft beers, snacks, and exploring the museum. It has some nice trails but they were closed when we went. It's smaller than other living museums/science museums/aquariums I've been to. It's nice to visit if you're in the area and would like to walk it's trail and enjoy nature on a nice day.

Daniel Zisu

Excellent all around science museum. Lots of hands on exhibits, beautiful walking trails with animals, nice outdoor and indoor play area, and a friendly staff.
