REVIEWS OF Fort Worth Zoo IN Texas

Jim Ehlinger

This was the first time I have ever been to this zoo and it was a very enjoyable experience. The zoo is well designed in the middle of Fort Worth and has a lot of trees for shade as it was 95 or so when we were there. The pathways are very wide and the whole place was very clean. They do seem to have lots of new things being developed which would be a reason to come back and see everything again.

This zoo is awesome. Tons of exhibits, plenty of space, never “too crowded”. The new giraffe exhibit is very cool and the kids love trying to feed them. The penguin exhibit is gross and always smells really bad, but, I guess that’s just a penguin thing. Everything else about this zoo is top notch and we have a lot of fun going. We bought a zoo pass and a guest pass so we can go for “free” as many times as we like this summer and it’s definitely worth it. Makes it totally plausible to go to the zoo for an hour and not feel like you need to stay for 5 hours so you get your money’s worth.

Aaron Brown

I love the zoo but they took out the aquarium. I remember from when I was but a child, over 45 years ago. It's like a piece of my childhood is gone. Everything else was great. Just miss my aquarium.

Brianna Williams

This zoo is so much fun, I love the exhibits - I just need to learn to go when it's not a bazillion degrees outside! Definitely worth visiting on half price day (Wednesdays)!!! But make sure to being plenty of water!!!

Tim Crafton

Most of the zoo is in shade so it stays cool even on a warm day. There is plenty to see and do there even with the expansions planned. If you do have younger kids they do have an area called the splash pad. It costs extra and you need to have a swimsuit but the kids will have a blast.

Arthi Gopalakrishnan

Very well-maintained place with lots of species. Good educational experience for children.

Kim Booker

This is a great place for kids of all ages and adults. There are so many animals to see and interactive centers for the kids. Feeding the giraffes is a must! We ate at the Bluebonnet Cafe inside the zoo where there is a Pizza Hut, Grill, and Dickey's BBQ. It's in the Texas section of the zoo. The BBQ was the best tasting but the grill burger was also pretty good. It's okay pricing, not way overpriced but still restaurant prices. The splash pad is also a must at the end of a hot zoo trip!

Samantha Firebaugh

We always have a good time at the zoo. There are so many different activities. It's a great day out with the family.

Debra Johnson

I am giving a 5 Star review because of the staff on our Behind the Scenes Owl Encounter. That was amazing. If you get a chance to do a behind the scenes it is worth it. Everyone told us the Fort Worth Zoo is better than the Dallas Zoo. I disagree. Dallas is better. Fort Worth Zoo is good. The food choices were basically all fast food places. Burger King, Pizza Hut, and Dickeys BBQ. There was a fresh grill but it was closed. There are so many loops to walk through and around it was very easy to get confused here. The walkways also tended to get crowded in a bottle neck type way. The people in the gift shop were not too friendly. That was a disappointment for the fact that they were the first people I talked to and the last as I bought my souvenir. If I came back to Texas I would definitely go to the Dallas Zoo again and the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. I wish I'd had known they were here before we flew down. Fort Worth Zoo is worth a visit. Just make sure you visit the Dallas Zoo too. There is a great kids area at both.

Hannah Roberts

Love coming here with my nieces. You really feel close to the animals and as well as feel that the animals have plenty of space. Love the new African safari area! You can feed the giraffes! ($6.00 for 3 pieces of lettuce. Seems steep for me, personally. But enjoyed watching others).

Ubile Jenkins

I had so much fun. This Zoo is clean. The food is good so much beautiful surroundings. My grandchildren love this place is good place for family or groups outings

Ariel Mays

Awesome day at the zoo. So glad they remodeled a lot of things and added the splash park along with the interactive exhibit with the goats. Awesome for children who loves animals and are not afraid to pet them!

Rivka

Absolutely the best zoo!! The primate exhibit is beautiful. Looking forward to the completion of the new exhibits.

JLP Live

The Fort Worth Zoo is awesome to say the least. I've been to numerous zoos, aquariums and Wildlife ranches over the years but nothing quite compares to be quality and attention to detail that the Fort Worth Zoo presents. The grounds are well-maintained, Lush with Greenery and attention to detail that really makes for an Immersive experience.

marco granados

Under construction. Still had a blast me...personally my kids were okay. Not to into it. It was hot

Patty Garcia

Went to the zoo for the first time with my daughters... It was fun my daughters really enjoyed it ... Would have gave it a 5 stars if we would have seen all animal ... Some animal weren’t there .. Since they are remodeling... But the girls had a good time

Thomas Dean

Got here around 12 and spent the whole day until closing time here. Parking can be a little busy, so plan ahead and try and get there early. Other than that, it was a great experience. It's not overly crowded, as you would expect on a weekend, and there is plenty to do. From the tigers and crocodiles to the stingray petting area, it is a great choice for a child, as well as adults for a day out

Leslie Santiago

I recently took my son here to see all the animals. It was a Saturday and yes it was packed, but we had a lot of fun nonetheless. We got to see pretty much everything and even rode the train. The animals there look very well taken care of, and the staff was helpful and friendly. We will definitely go back to visit soon. We had a great experience.

Maricela Faz

So many exotic animals! I loved it and nothing compared to Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, TX. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It took us 4 hours to see everything, really fun.

Brittany Joyce

What a fantastic zoo experience! We look forward to visiting again. There's every kind of animal you could hope for and the flow of exhibits give you the opportunity to get absorbed into each area. With all the tree cover it really feels like getting back to nature. It's Texas so dress lightly when you go so you can enjoy the sights and the occasional breeze.

Neal Tawater

Exceptional facility! Defiantly enjoyed the new African safari experience. Perfect family outing. You can bring your own cooler and drinks to the zoo! Will take advantage of that option next trip.

Kona Bird

This zoo was fairly decent. I've been to better zoos, and for being so highly rated among zoos in the country, I was a little disappointed. There were a good number of animals on display, but I've been to zoos with more. The animals were all very well taken care of, and the enclosures seemed very large and accomodating in most cases. I did feel like the mountain lion's habitat was a bit small for them. The MOLA (Museum of living art) was amazing and had a large variety of reptiles and fish, as well as some bats. I did feel like the Australian section was kind of lacking. There were only two kangaroos out at the time and they were so far away they were incredibly hard to see. There was a "Birds of Australia" section and they had several birds, but surprisingly no kookaburra, which is arguably THE bird of Australia. One thing that bothered me is that there was a section called Stingray Cove where you could touch stingrays, but it was an extra 5 dollars. I had already paid the admission, so...I don't know. I just kinda wish it was included in admission, I suppose. Maybe up the admission and let people go to it without having to get extra admission. All in all I had an amazing time, and all of the staff was friendly, and even the food available there was decent.

Mark Pelech

This is a really nice zoo. The staff was very friendly and informative. If you get the chance stick around at the posted time at an exhibit when a staff member will answer your questions The staff member we'll walk up and ask if you have any questions- they we're extremely friendly and well-educated and answered all my questions. The stingray exhibit allows you to pet the stingrays and for me that was the most enjoyable experience I've had at a zoo in a long time. The price is very reasonable for admission it's clean and like I've been saying the staff is just wonderful. I would go there again in a heartbeat.

NoNoBadKitty1

We love the Ft Worth zoo. It's a great family outing, there was plenty of helpful staff around eager to talk about the animals and answer questions.

Sharon Harthampton

It is an incredible place to visit with your family. The giraffe feeding area is so much fun. Highly recommend it.

Robert Turner

Interesting displays of most animals (nearly all are easy to view). Our Memorial day visit was extremely busy. But I never felt crowded. Except at gift shop. We had a good time!

scott beatty

Very enjoyable. The zoo is consistently rated as one of the best in the USA for a good reason. We were cooking specifically ri check out the new sting ray cove. I'd recommend going out and spending a day feeding the giraffe, petting sting rays and enjoying fort worth. We probably visit the zoo once a year.

Jorail Jermany

The zoo is one of my family's favorite places to visit. The place is clean and the exhibits are great. However the workers at the concession stands are not customer friendly at all. They were talking about something in the bathroom and about breaks instead of serving the customer. This is not the case throughout the park just the new safari drink area. Speaking of the new safari area, it's a must see.

Brian T

One of my favorite Zoos not only in the US but the world. I can say I've been to my share of zoos, this one is up there with taking the cake. I would rank it in my top 5. Admission is reasonable, you can take food in. The animals seem to be in good care. Place is well maintained and workers are super nice. Even on a crowded day it still feels like you have some room to move around. One of the best Zoos in the nation.

Marseris Kaid Bay

Animal lover here! This Zoo is perfect for having a different day in nature. +1 for trees that are everywhere and it maintains the temperature not that hot in summer.

Joshua Collins

We took a family trip to the zoo over the weekend. We had a good time and the zoo was clean and had a lot of animals/wildlife to see. Our toddler had a blast getting to see all the different animals. They also had an old town set up which was neat with a little petting zoo which we though was great. Highly recommend this zoo for a family outing.

D T

Good zoo. Very poor or non-existent direction to exhibits. Absolutely need more signs with correct direction to exhibits.

Lee Hill

My daughter is almost 21 but wanted us to go here with her and her boyfriend. We had a great time. What a wonderful zoo. Makes sense for it to be so highly ranked in the country. Lots of exotic animals. Plenty of shades areas to avoid the summer sun. Lots of good choices in the food court.

N Dunigan

I love this zoo. Wonderful place for kids. You can feed the giraffes and birds. My kids loved walking around this zoo. Clean, open, animals seem happy and well taken care of.

Rocio Hernandez

My husband and I brought our girls here for their birthday weekend. For it being our first time come to the Fort Worth Zoo, it was definitely worth it! We had such a blast. The girls were amazed by all the different animals, they were ever excited to touch the rays. The staff is very friendly, the facilities were clean. We will definitely be making a second trip here soon.

Robert Talbot

My favorite zoo that I have visited by far. The set up is wonderful for viewing the animals and providing shade while walking around. They do allow you to bring in food and have personal parties. You can also work with the zoo to host your party.

Sandra Smith

My kids and I love it!!! No wonder it's one of the top zoos in the country. I feed the giraffes every time I'm there. Try to go early in the day though when the animals are more active, once it gets too hot you'll be walking around snapping pictures of animals napping lol

Roembke Family

Our family had a blast at this zoo! It took us all day to walk the zoo! Worth the time and not very expensive either.

Sabrina Henson

Absolutely Amazing Zoo!!! Beautiful enclosures, a couple animals I hadn't ever seen before. The stingray reef is totally unbelievablely amazing.

Gabrielle Striker

My family love this zoo very much. We love both the Fort Worth and Dallas zoos, but Ft. Worth has really overtaken Dallas as our favorite. The big cat exhibits are great, and we love the Texas area. Try to check out the eagles and vultures during feeding time, if you've got a strong stomach. The new petting zoo is a FANTASTIC improvement over what they had before. And with so many more improvements coming over the next few years, we've got a lot to look forward to!! The food and concession pricings are reasonable, as are the gift shop items. Definitely take advantage of a membership if you're a frequent visitor. It's worth it! A couple members of our family also had a blast with the rock climbing tower!

Katt Watton

We LOVE the FT Worth Zoo. My girls did Zoo School, the animals are easy to spot. Zoo is clean. We did the Zoo Pass when my girls were little and would go for an hour or so and head home so it wasn't an exhausting day.

Rosalinda Torries

Nice atmosphere Big zoo. There are lions and tigers and bears, oh my. There are plenty of places to sit. Ask for a water cup. The food isn't terribly over priced.

Cate Glanvill

Really good zoo. Animals have nice enclosures and didn't seem too stressed or miserable at being locked up. Lots of shade as you walk round. The reptile exhibit was very good and a good spot to cool off for a while. Shops, cafes and other amusements as you would expect. Thought it was very reasonably priced for several hours of enjoyment.

Brandon Hooley

Fort Worth Zoo was amazing! The staff was friendly and helpful. The zoo was very clean and laid out great. Only wish I would have done my homework on the petting zoo since it was relocated and didn't open until May 30, 2019. My 2 year old would have loved that but just means we will have to go back soon!

Jarrod Milstead

There was plenty of space at the zoo on our visit. The animals were out and enjoying their exhibits. Petting sharks and stingrays was a great experience and will be remembered for years to come. I kept lions and tigers but could never find them but there were bears and the bat cave was a nice place to cool off. Will return to pet the sharks again.

Jennifer C

Great for kids and adults. They also have an indoor barn playground for kids to go into. It has AC. You can feed the giraffes and see them up close. They just recently opened a petting zoo area the kids loved it.

Cole Potter

Surprisingly AMAZING zoo! I was ho-hum about going but was so pleased we did. Their exhibits are among the top five in the USA. I took over 160 photos and was drug away after five hours. More expansions planned for 2020.

Molly Self

They're constantly improving the zoo for consumers and animals alike. Water is a little hard to find/come by as you're walking around and there isn't a clear/easy consumer path to see everything without missing something or having to double back on your tracks. All that aside, the experience is 100% worth it.

Rhys Kucharski

One of the coolest zoo's I've been too. Lots to see and do. Plenty of shady areas as well to beat the heat.

C McG

I had such a blast here. Was a first visit and they have so much to do there for us adults and kids alike. Good food also, got to touch the animals and they have a hand wash station after you touch the animals.

Anthony Russo

One of the nicest zoos in the country. Big trees and bamboo keep you protected from the sun. Very cool exhibits. A bit dated but has a lot of character and Texas charm.

Don Emory

A lot of fun, large enclosures, a huge variety of animals, and pretty well priced as zoos go. Be aware that the zoo is laid out as a giant loop, so there will be a lot of walking and you'll likely want to plan on going when it isn't super hot. Also make sure you bring plenty of water as the bottled water in the zoo is $3 a piece.

gareth carpenter

One of my favorite locations in dfw. There's nothing better than a nice stroll through the zoo on a Saturday.

Zach Perkins

Creepy as hell that Google offered me the chance to show the pics I took off my kids @ the zoo for this review. Looking past that this place is still wonderful. I grew up visiting in the summer and now 30 years later I'm sharing this with my kids. Great layout and the animals are typically in view all times of day.

Ben Lake

The animal collection is typical of any first-rate zoo. Animals appeared to be healthy and given ample space. I like that the sidewalks around the zoo had plenty of shade, and much effort was given to decorate the walkways and outsides of the exhibits. I also like that they let you bring in your own food and provide plenty of shaded seating.

Christina Davis

If you have a teen animal lover than the Ft Worth Zoo is worth it. Feeding the giraffes was a highlight but get there early. We went on a Sunday at 10 am and it was perfect! Check out the primates and hippos, too!

Leanne Parker

Beautiful place to go with the grandbabies! They specially loved being able to feed the giraffes. All of the animals seem to be taking good care of, and the staff there was very nice and explained things to the kids about the animals. The reptile area is especially nice for cooling off on a hot day.

Carrie Turco

Long walk from the parking lot and many food places were closed on a Saturday in the summer... the zoo was pretty busy. Train ride was fun and lots for the kids to so but pack your own lunch!

Kristina Bongiorno

Loved seeing most of the animals happy with what they have got to work with. Expensive food, tickets are $16.00 per adult. Children are $12.00

SoraWisdom

An extravagant place. It's really clean, fun, organized, extremely safe and still growing. They definitely have rules so be aware of them. The campus doesn't sell straws or tops to cups to help fight against littering. There are specific areas for visitors to eat as well as recycle bins scattered all over in convenient places. There should be marked areas on the map that's provided that shows areas where you have the ability to feed the wildlife and this is a pretty safe place, so long as people dont go jumping into enclosures help is always a few feet away. The food here isn't expensive like at Fiesta Texas or a Carnival or something similar so if you forgot to pack up a few snacks, getting a decent lunch won't be a huge problem. There are many places to eat scattered around the place but they do have a candy shop and two ice cream parlors as well as a burger king if you're into that sort of thing. Once you reach the end of the park there is a train that can take you back to the front gates if you're tired from walking over 4 miles in total. I wouldn't want to spoil what animals are there so I won't mention them. Be safe and have fun! Explored this park on May·21·2019

Rosa Cruz

This place is nothing short of amazing! It was a little too hot for us to enjoy the entire zoo but nonetheless we had a wonderful time. Kids LOVED it.

Isaac Ellison

I really enjoyed my time at the zoo. The price is definitely easy to digest. Came with a couple of friends and we easily spent about 2 1/2 hours. They do a good job with having a few interactions with animals and the staff is knowledgeable/friendly.

Kate Hu

Nice place to go. Me and family had a good time yesterday. Next time we gonna try the splash fun there.

Wendy Johnson

I had a wonderful experience visiting the Fort Worth Zoo. It was truly worth i! The price can't be beat. The price on Wednesday's $8 entrance fee. You can purchase your tickets on-line. Make sure you print the tickets. There are a lot of exotic animals the habitats are very nicely created and you get a feeling of being up close and which is great for picture taking.

Christopher Mullaney

This zoo is one of our favorite zoos...I would love to see more exhibits built like a full on aquarium and more in the Asian and Australian areas...the Texas exhibit is so awesome...I hope over time the newer exhibits after the Elephant exhibits will see more of the aquatic life and perhaps some pandas and other animals as well...still a great place for all ages...

Michael Nolte

This is definitely one of the best zoos in the country. The animals all seem to be well taken care of by the staff. I took 4 kids here aged 11-6 and they all had an amazing time seeing and learning about the animals from all around the world.

Carlray Martin

The place was great. My son had a blast on his birthday. Although all of the animals were sleeping. I don't know if it was due the the fact that we went early

Courtney Rogers

Crocodile exhibit closed, elephant exhibit closed, all big cats not out (tigers, white tigers, lions ect), monkey exhibits being cleaned (also not out) except gorillas. Also got directly spoken down to and embarrassed at the giraffe feeding for touching the giraffe (saw others doing so), paid $6 for 4 pieces of lettuce. After paying close to $70 to just enter the zoo.. I spoke with management no refunds offered, I visited from out of town and I highly regret not going to the Dallas zoo instead.....last time I went to zoo I went to Dallas and it was much more enjoyable.

Markie Burke

I hadn't been to the zoo in a few years. I was very pleased with the continued updates to the establishment to create an atmosphere conducive to the animals natural habitat. The giraffe experience was A+! And and experience I will never forget. I will say I was sad more of the big cats weren't out, but I understand. It was hot!

Timmy S

It's great, take the whole family. Tons of cool animals and exhibits, like feeding the giraffes

Bree Nieto

The staff is friendly..there is so much to see..so many beautiful animals great food its just a win win for the whole family

Kelly Burgess

Love this zoo! It's laid out nicely, there's so much to see, there's plenty of shade and water misters to cool you off in the hot summer, and it's a pleasant place just to walk. In addition, they add a nee exhibit every year. Love it! There's a reason it's one of the top 5 zoos in the country.

Jalal Fathi

Some of the animals that I wanted to see had been sent to other zoos. No Kuala, shark, Buffalo and some types of elephant. But in total the variety was good. Parking was not a problem at all. They should have had more birds and a bigger area for them. In total it was a good experience. It's a great place for kids.

faiva fotuaika

My son loves it here. Best zoo I ever been to

Nancy Stiles

A lot to see. African Savannah is great. We enjoyed feeding the giraffes. It cost $6 for about 3-4 leaves of romaine lettuce. Elephant area is under construction, can't wait for that to be finished.

Brittany Kuzina

We come to this zoo often. Have the membership so we can go as often as we like and get discounts on food and gifts. Their new splash pad water park is super cute and the kids love it

Libra W

I had a great time at the fort worth zoo...everythimg looked cleaned..AND THE #1THING IS THAT THE ANIMALS I GOT TO SEE SEEM TO BE WELL TAKEN CARE OF..THANK YOU ALL WHO WORK SO HARD TO MAKE SURE IT'S DONE

Cortni LoGalbo

We had lots of fun and they have some excellent special days available like home school day that we just attended, and the kids really enjoyed.

Joshua Garrett

Love this zoo! There is always something going on there and they are always updating the design and layout and adding new things. The staff there is very knowledgeable of the animals and the animals appear to be well taken care of. The kids had a great time there this week.

Melissa Riggs

Best zoo I’ve ever been to! The new addition of the giraffe feeding station is amazing. We spent 4 hours our first time there and have gone back every six months since then!

Jill i

Nice zoo. Layout is a little odd so there will be backtracking. My main critique is the late opening time in Texas heat and they have never responded to any questions or concerns when you contact them. It has the makings of a great zoo. Worth a visit.

Tyrone Jackson

Great visit with family. The animals looked extremely healthy and well taken care of! Kudos to the staff for doing such a great job taking care of these animals!

Nubia Orozco

Beautiful and fun. The gorillas are hilarious, I was calling one of them and they purposely ignored me and gave me their back. Would have been a great recording but I definitely suggest to go visit the gorillas habitat. They also have a bird feeding area, my nephew loved it.

D. Repentski

This is one of the best zoo's I've been to. My family and I go at least once a year and it's always fun. The staff is courteous and helpful. The bathrooms are clean and the layout is good.

nina mcgowan

Both ft worth and Dallas zoo's are great! Ft worth has better parking. It's honestly a personal choice between the two. You should try both and see which you prefer!

Stephen Dundas

Hot. Good selection of critters! Wear comfortable shoes, hat, and fully charged camera/phone. There are a few extras things inside that cost more money but are with it like petting the Manta Ray's etc. Basically plan to duck into air conditioned spaces every so often to keep from overheating -- apparently the locals don't go in the summertime and it's clear why.

Chrissy Hall

Definitely an awesome zoo. Wish I had a little more time but still got to see alot. Visited from out of town

foxxychevy .

Spent a few hours walking around and all animals that we saw were healthy and well cared for. Wishing we had the time to walk the entire zoo but maybe another time. We took the train back to the entrance and it was pretty nice. They have little 'scenes' set up along the way and son really enjoyed that. Was a nice way to finish our visit seeing different animals.

Praneeth K

We visited Fort Worth Zoo on a pleasant day after driving 40 miles and it was well worth the drive and fee. It is a Texas themed zoo with all kinds of animals, birds and reptiles. There were flamingos in different colors. We will definitely visit again when elephant center is completely renovated. It was full of greenery and has many restaurants on the track. I'd recommend to be there by the opening hour to avoid crowd and get a closer parking spot.

Adrian Colon

The Forth Worth Zoo is by far the best place we have visited in the Dallas area! We went on a Wednesday afternoon and it was not crowded. We were able to walk to all the exhibits even in the heat and see All the animals. They have different Entertainment and question/answers throughout the day. The Zoo employees are knowledgeable, polite and very nice. We enjoyed the Giraffe experience the most since we were able to feed the giraffe and have it close to us.

Sadie Noyes

Loved taking my nephew here last week!! Don’t go on Wednesday’s if you have a pass, because it’s half price and everyone is there!!! The other week days aren’t bad! So much to do and see and you can bring in your own water/snacks which is a plus! Easy to navigate a stroller as well.

User 758

Honestly really liked this zoo, I've been to two in the past few months and I prefer fort worth to Dallas. It has alot to see but without all the crazy hidden paths and without going in circles a few times. The map and signs were very easy to read. My favorite part though was the collectable pennies. They're only 51 cents when everyone else charges 1.01.

Amit Sharma

This was our third zoo which we visited with our 4 yrs old. Initially it was not much impressive for us, yes we saw Lions but still we were not impressed. But when we reached the section for alligators and water / sea creatures things changed upside down. Our 4 yrs old enjoyed that like any thing and we also enjoyed that section. They have couple of big alligators, lots of sea turtles and quite a few different species of fishes. Few Raptors as well. We had a ride of train and it was first ride of tou train for us as well. The train ride is a good experience for kids for sure and elders can also enjoy. I must say the zoo was cleaner than other zoos and had water , soda and snacks available at multiple locations. The thing which we did not like much was the placement. It is very easy to miss sections of the zoo and then start from a starting point, which is little waste of time. Conclusion: a must visit, if your kids love animals.

Ben Pearson

Great place to visit the animals. The zoo has added a splash pad for the kids as well as adults to enjoy.

Dan Betsill

The Fort Worth Zoo is fantastic. We recently spent the day there with our toddler and everyone had a great time. This was my first visit since the opening of the new African Savanna area and I was very impressed. The giraffe feeding area was especially fun and well done. Fort Worth is lucky to have such an incredible zoo.

Brian Tucker

This zoo is amazing. Also, many areas are shaded - great for hot summer days. Get there early for close parking spot. Feeding the giraffes is a highlight. Food is even reasonably priced.

Gina Miller

Other than the entry price we really enjoyed our visit. My grandchildren really enjoyed feeding the birds and the birds sitting in the sticks of seeds and on their finger as well, we spent more time there than any other part of the zoo. Then there was the most beautiful bird I have ever seen, it was in a different area.

Christopher LeMeilleur

Absolutely one of the best zoos in America. This place is a joy and keeps getting better every year. We can't even see it all without taking a break, so if you have older kids, you can entertain them for a whole day here. The animals are beautiful and the zoo is clean. The food is reasonably priced and there's always enough room for anyone.

Tim Gutierrez

This is a really nice zoo. All enclosures are open and free for the animals. It's really good to see for visitors and for the animals. We went during the week and it wasn't very crowded at all. Our young children were able to see each exhibit without a line. My only complaint was that there were a lot of empty enclosures and we paid full price.

Upstate Publications

Exceptional zoo! Much of the property is in the shade, believe it or not. A lot of thought and care went into making it a comfortable stroll, even in the Texas heat. The animals all seem happy and active. Exhibits are well designed and the animals seem so close! Great variety, good amount of bathrooms throughout, not enough drinks though - all the vending machines were empty. Great family atmosphere, great way to spend a day.

Christopher Crafte

The Fort Worth Zoo is an absolute staple for anyone planning on visiting for more than a day! I live nearby, and I remember taking pictures with the animals as a child, and now my son gets to see some of those same animals! They've recently added more interactive exhibits, including the new giraffe enclosure, where you can feed them, and the sting ray exhibit, where you can feed AND pet them! I'll always have a soft spot for the otters, bears, tigers, and the texas section with the petting zoo and food hall. I'm now a member, and I plan on contributing more to the zoo in the future, in an effort to make the animals even happier than they've made me and my family.

Frances Fuller

Our family loves the Fort Worth Zoo! We have a 2.5-year-old and a 7-month-old. Our older son is starting to get excited about the animals and we are able to practice his animal vocabulary. Our little one sleeps through a lot of our visits still but there are lots of benches and shaded areas that are breastfeeding-friendly for when it's time for him to eat. We love the new Savannah exhibit; it's so neat to feed the giraffes!

COURTNEY BELL

Though a visit here can be pricey it is well worth it. The M.O.L.A. exhibit alone is worth the entrance price. We usually got through the whole zoo in about 4 hours. There are a ton of food options and concession stands, and the zoo is always hosting some event such at Boo at the zoo for halloween. Oh and they have a splash pad as well from May til August for an extra 4 dollars. Our boys absolutely love going there and there is always about 4 workers on the slides and 2 walking around and though there isn't any standing water I always feel super safe letting the boys run around.

It's always good at the zoo. Especially on Wednesday's, as that's 1/2 price day. Make sure you take the kids to the little splash water park to cool the little ones off. It is $5 extra and you pay when you go into that part of the zoo. Bring plenty of waters and snacks as well. Relax and have fun

Sanjay kumar S

Its absolute fantastic spot for a whole day. We entered at 11 and it has two routes the best fun place starts from right side road which goes to African Savannah and Asian falls where you see lion and other wild animals. They geographically distributed the park which is the best part. Australian, American, African asian.. much more.. I feel there should be more feed and feel .. otherwise its absolutely fantastic. Love it

Tanya McCann

Great zoo and it gets better every time we go. Petting and feeding stingrays and feeding the giraffes. Wonderful and educational experience for my daughter.

Melissa Avila

Love coming here with my family! Will become members soon! Can't wait for the new exhibit opening in the spring of 2020!

Patricia Chandler

Loved the shaded walkways. The old town was cool. The kids loved walking around. Much different than our Dallas Zoo. But individual membership is too much. A family membership would be a much cheaper option for families. I would visit again but go early so we can take our time and finish with the kids waterpark area.

Brooke Dempsey

My favorite zoo. Never feels too crowded. Able to see the animals from many angles. Love the giraffe exhibit.

Brenda Deleon

It was a perfect day for the zoo. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. That being said the animals were out and entertaining. It is easy to navigate and find the sections you are looking for. It is well laid out and enjoyable.

B. Killough

An AMAZING ZOO! It beautiful, and very shaded which is nice. Make sure to get there early if you want to try to see it all, it's big! Good eats and gifts at the Texas exhibits. Great family fun, and good exercise with all the walking. Fun Fun Fun!

Jimmy Walta

One of the top national zoo's for a reason, this place rocks. Also easy to do with kids because the walking paths are not scattered all over the place. It's a well organized zoo.

Visiting frm Houston and i have to say the Zoo was a great experience for my whole family, even My teenaged boys enjoyed it.. I loved that most exhibits were open and you could see animals up close. Lots of shade and benches to rest on. Pricing on food and drinks was decent. Going to have to go back for the elephant exhibit, they were remodeling it.

joshua miller

Had a blast with my kids. The especially loved feeding the giraffes. Coming from San Diego zoo I wasnt expecting much but was surprised at all the fort Worth zoo had to offer. It was clean well managed and not nearly as crowded as I was expecting. Will be coming back for sure.

Rick Debus

The fort worth zoo is always great especially when compared to the Dallas zoo. The tiger exhibit is breath taking if you have never seen it and this year it looks like they really expanded the area near the giraffes, i dont remember seeing that before. It's awesome and you can really get a close up look. If you have the option I would wait until it's a little cooler. If it's near 100 the animals look like they are feeling it. Getting in early in the morning would also allow you to see the animals a bit better and some of the exhibits you can feed the animals so of your last they aren't too hungry.

Matthew Saenz

This is probably the best zoo in the whole wide world. The attractions are entertaining and a bunch of fun too. Every animal is well fed and has a clean place to live and is given toys and others to play with. Overall a great place to take a family for spring break or in the fall, if you go in the summer be sure to drink lots of water and have the sunscreen ready.

Julio Morello Jr.

It took y hours but we did the whole zoo. All the attractions and animal show why it's one of the top 5 zoos in the nation. All looked clean and we'll maintained. Food was a bit pricey but still delicious. I must remember to bring more water since bottles were going for $4-$5 from vending machine. It would be nice if the water fountains dispensed cold water but you can't have it all. I would return just to see it all again.

Karla Miller

The Fort Worth zoo is great. I see why it's rated one of the best zoos in the nation. They are updating the Elephant area. Can't wait to see it when it's finished! I really enjoyed the Giraffes!

Andrea Bryant

Love the zoo itself, would give 5 stars if they'd figure out the parking situation. Busy days it takes an hour to get to the entrance only to find out there is no parking available anywhere. The zoo though, is nice and shady and beautiful.

Catherine Solari

Wonderful Zoo! One of the best. So much to see & lots of acrivities. The zoo is laid out so you feel like you are close to the animals, not forever away behind fences. Plus they do a great job of keeping it shaded, lots of trees, fans, mini escapes & not too much hot pavement which helps SO much in the Texas heat.

Emily Craig

Beautiful Zoo! The option of taking the wheelchair accessible path and still being able to see all of the exhibits is awesome! Most every area and pathway is shaded so even in mid day heat you stay cool. The train to take you back to the front is a nice touch !

RODNEY LEWIS

We had a great time at this zoo! All of the animals seemed healthy. There weren't too many overpowering smells, and there was plenty of shade for a hot day. Only complaint was my wife bought a bunch of lettuce to feed the Giraffes, but the giraffes never came over to eat. It's hard to complain about well fed giraffes though.

wayne beninson

Nice zoo, hot day and a lot of the Animals stayed hidden in the shade. The elephants and giraffes were out in the open and beautiful.

Scott Ewing

The zoo is always a great place to bring the family. Wednesday is half off admission so expect the crowds to be somewhat heavier. Plenty of parking is available. I highly recommend riding the train back to the entrance after you have seen all of the exhibits otherwise your just seeing the same exhibits twice. They do allow coolers and backpacks so you can have a picnic in the picnic areas in the middle of the park. No glass bottles just plastic. If you have little ones I recommend the bird feeding exhibit. Children can hold pop cycle sticks with bird feed stuck to them and the birds will get up close and eat the seed (supercool). My 4 year old was so excited. Overall great experience....the park is always super clean and well maintained. Great job Fort Worth Zoo staff. Keep up the good work.

We’ve been to the Fort Worth Zoo so many times and every time it’s fantastic. The last time we went, we went for my daughter’s birthday. There is literally something for everyone. You could spend two days here and not do or see everything. She was really unimpressed by this tiny, adorable goat, but this might have been my favorite zoo trip yet, all because of this little guy and the aviary. The splash pad is a literal water park—wear a bathing suit under your clothes and pay the five dollars because it’s so worth it when the weather is hot.

brett miller

Great for small kids..hay ride thru the property...refreshments available..charitable outing for a good cause. Young children can jump in multiple jump houses with jump slides, small pony ride in a circle with three others...supervised. Pumpkin patch..kids get free small pumpkin..hand stamp to come and go from open to close. Face painting for a fee. Little bigger kids can ride a regular horse led by a walker... easy trip to.be outside. Parking on gravel or grass pending busy day. We had fun!

Mike McKee

I haven’t been to the Fort Worth Zoo in a long time. But, my wife and went this past weekend and what an amazing place. They have added a new Savanna area and it is awesome. In the new Savanna area you can hand feed giraffes. There is also a touch tank for sting rays and it was also amazing. We had so much fun. I highly recommend this zoo.

Linda Carrigan-Deerfield

Was not really impressed with the various habitats for the animals. I have been to a number of zoos throughout the US and when compared to San Diego and the National Zoos, Fort Worth does not appear to provide prime habitat for many of their animals, particularly the wild cats, elephants and birds. In general, the entire zoo is kept clean, guest services are good.

Sue Farmer

We took our grandson here and he loved it! I loved that we were allowed to take a cooler in as well. They do seem to charge a separate fee for other activites like going in to pet the stingrays. We did get to feed the giraffes, stingrays and birds after buying the food for them there.

Kevin Ackerman

This zoo had amazing encounters. In one day my kids fed a zebra, pretty a snake and climbed in a log with a brown bear.... All on a Tuesday!! There exhibits were immaculate. The employees were stellar. The only run is that they don't do reciprocation with other zoo annual passes.

my kiddos

Other than being a bit confusing and hard for a handicap personnel to get around it was really neat. The kids really enjoyed it and had a really good time. Our favorite by far was the giraffe, hippo and the elephants! I wish we could have seen the baby elephant better. We will definitely come better prepared for moms mobility issues and for the long day of walking next time we come

Steven Meadows

Very enjoyable. Fun place to take the adults. We had a blast. Walked 5 miles there. Animal spaces were very well maintained.

Amy R.

The mark of a good zoo is the care of the animals and the staff's ability to answer questions about them and about said care. This zoo hits the mark. Yes, it's a zoo. The animals are in cages. That's sad. The animals at this zoo are well cared for and are there to help educate people. I highly recommend this particular zoo.

Shana Willeford

Absolutely love going to the Fort Worth Zoo! The staff is always friendly and everything is laid out well. The train is fun to ride no matter what age you are and there are plenty of options for snacks and drinks! You can feed the giraffes from a feeding platform and the animals tend to be very visible.

D King

The kids and I had a great time. The exhibits were fun and interesting. I love that the kids are able to feed some of the animals. Really cool seeing a giraffe up in person.

James Ussery

I love the Fort Worth zoo. The animals are always fun to see and they are well taken care of. The zoo is beautifully kept and it's a good place to visit on a warm day. Parking will run you $5.00 and entrance will be about $16. They do have half price days. There are plenty of opportunities for photos so bring your camera!

Christi Billman

My grandchildren and I really enjoyed our first visit to the Fort Worth Zoo. It was a very warm day but were able to stay cool with the various misters. Our favorite place was Stingray Cove. It was so fun to be able to interact with the animals.

Kim Spearman

This is an experience for zoo lovers. The habitats were well thought out and my children enjoyed seeing the blend of animals in certain sections of the zoo. The animals seemed very happy even though it was hot. They are completing some construction, but it did not deter from our experience.

Ashley Breckenridge

Super fun, was there from open to close. Many different animals and the walk was easy. Had plenty of places to rest or get something to refresh yourself. The animals looked like they were treated well, as great a caged animal could be. The Rhino did seem pretty lonely. I would love too be able to have an opportunity to see more nocturnal animals. That would be so cool. My 2 year old enjoyed every minute of it. Especially the petting zoo, carousel, and mining area. Which I understand is the children's area, just saying it was successful! We will be going again.

Viviana Bazan Huerta

The Forth Worth Zoo is by far the best place we have visited in the Dallas area! We went on a Wednesday afternoon and it was not crowded. We were able to walk to all the exhibits even in the heat and see All the animals. They have different Entertainment and question/answers throughout the day. The Zoo employees are knowledgeable, polite and very nice. We enjoyed the Giraffe experience the most since we were able to feed the giraffe and have it close to us.

Joanna Downing

This place never disappoints. They have rentable scooters if needed and the fine water misting system is a plus on those really hot days. Elephant habitat is currently undergoing renovations. Highly recommend visiting with family and friends.

jordyn dahlgren

My son loves the zoo. We go once a month. We are going today. I just wish they opened up at 630 or 7am. To beat the heat.

Tricia Peters

Small but very inviting! Price is reasonable. Animal enclosures are planned very well and some of the best. Their was lots of security and phones to call if you needed assistance. Employees were pleasant and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Food was reasonable and good. Grandkids enjoyed feeding the giraffes for $6. The carousel was $3 a person. The train was $3 a person for one way. Stingrays cost $5 plus extra for food. It was a very nice Zoo trip.

Jaime Benitez

Love coming here with my family. My boys had a great time observing the animals. Glad to see it expanding and adding more exhibits. Will go back soon.

Zach Melder

Really fun! A lot of natural exhibits and shade for the visitors. Definitely would return.

Benjamin Estes

Great place for family. There is plenty of shade while walking the paths too keep you cool. Ive gone several times throughout my life and continue to go back. I look forward to the reservations they are going to finish in 2020!

Tambra Miliman

It was a nice zoo. My grandchildren loved it. We saw a lot of animals. My grandchildren loved petting the animals, especially the stingrays. The white tiger was not out and there were a couple of exhibits closed but all in all a great experience.

Hayley Martin

I went with a 2 year old and a 1 year old. They both had a lot of fun. It was hot out, but we made sure to do the indoor stuff whenever possible. It was pricey for everything, but the kids had so much fun. I find it hard to entertain such little children for that length of time, so I'd say overall, it was a win. A Wednesday morning would have been the best time to go, as it would have been both cooler and half priced admission. We're going to go back again soon. Well worth the heat and the money.

Anu V Pai

It was our 2 yr old son’s first visit to the zoo.. we went on memorial weekend and although it was crowded, we enjoyed it..ample parking($5 per vehicle)space, restroom facilities, dining options..the bird feeding, giraffe experience and the train ride was too much fun for our son..there are many things for kids to engage with..and even adults can enjoy them too..they also conserve few endangered species..I was a bit disappointed that the lions were resting both the times that we went there..but overall, the trip was very good..be sure to carry enough drinking water with you as you will need it..there is half price admission on Wednesdays every week.. They are bringing new features like petting ranch and elephant springs soon..will go back for sure..

Shane Young

Love it zoo, it was hot (Texas in August) but there is lots of shade in most of the zoo. My one complaint was the train way too short and took us to a place where we didn’t know where we were. We had to back track to see the stuff we missed. I thought it would show us some stuff and take us back to where we started, it doesn’t, at least not without paying again.

jalea lynn

It was great. Just hot- they should have more misters for cooling. It would be nice if the water fountains were chilled. There was a woman sweeping up pink flamingo feathers into a trash bag. I asked her if we could have one. Her response was an angry "No, they are a protected endangered species". LOL I found a feather anyway. This woman didn't ruin the visit. They have put a lot into making it a nice environment for the guests. And for the animals. At least, in most of the habitats. The hawks & some other birds need an upgrade in their home though.

Melissa Stinson

A must see for every child, and adult! Amazing facility with beautiful animals in a perfect safari backdrop! Done miss this when visiting Ft. Worth!

Madison Whitlock

Best zoo in Texas. We are regulars with the little ones. The zoo is a must for any age. The new exhibits are so cool. Definitely recommend

Gina Boyd

They have an amazing place in the middle of the city. It was a great day to see all the animals out and relaxing in the nature of their homes. Great place to meet with family.

Tania Elizondo

Good for a family day!! I don't like the fact that you have to pay the zoo entrance and then another fee for the safari splash!! But over all its very good place.

Sam PixelMoon

Our zoo is the best. They are always improving and adding, not just animals but learning experiences and interactions. I grew up in kansas city and that zoo was huge, BUT all the animals are so far from you and it's hard to see it all in a day. Fort Worth zoo has all the animals in easy viewing distance. There are touch areas and feeding areas. Lots of shade and a few indoor exhibits. I recommend taking your own drinks and wearing comfortable shoes. Also at least $20 extra to spend on feeding animals or on activities.

Sarah Emory

The Fort Worth Zoo is one of my favorite zoos! Laid out in a large and winding loop, it can be be a little difficult to navigate so I recommend knowing where you want to go and plotting a rough route. This year we also visited Stingray Cove, which was awesome! But! Keep in mind, that it is NOT free, which I feel like they should tell you upfront before you wind your way there with excited kids. That said, it is $5/person. They have a very large pool full of friendly rays ranging in size from quite small to the very large surface dusters. You can also feed them a small fish for $1, which was worth it in my opinion, but only if you (or your kid) isn't afraid to touch the fish and the ray. Some of the things that make the zoo great: they have many rarer animals to offer- favorites are gorillas, hippos, hyenas, and huge crocodiles; the exhibits are very well laid out so that you can almost always get a good view of the animals, and the large variety of animals is impressive. Parking for the zoo is $5, prices are what I would consider typical for a larger city zoo, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it!

Taylor Hardy

It was missing quite a few animals, for a reason I don't know. The lettuce to feed the giraffes, is OUTRAGEOUS. You would think they could cut a decent deal consider lettuce is dirt cheap. Not to mention you pay enough to park and get tickets.
