Bramble Park Zoo was a lot of fun! We saw animals that our local zoo does not have, and the exhibits were fascinating because you were close to the animals. I was continually surprised and impressed by the exhibits for that reason. The animals looked healthy to my untrained eyes, as well. It was a smaller zoo, which worked well for our family, as it was an extremely hot day and we were able to complete walking through in about 2 hours. Take quarters for the food machines (farm animals and ducks- 50¢ per serving). Feeding the barn animals was really enjoyed by our family. Also, they had several neat exhibits, including aquariums inside the main entrance building, so be sure to not overlook those. We saw one soda/water vending machine which cost $2 for a bottle of water. We did not see a concession stand in the zoo, but there appeared to be a small one at the entrance building. The zoo also had some misting water at a few places on the path. That was greatly appreciated! One thing I noticed were some picnic tables by the kangaroo exhibit. I'm not sure, but I presume the zoo allows picnicking there, which would be a neat experience!
Nice zoo to visit, not overly large, and it's spread out with lots of room for the animals to roam away from the optimal viewing area. Several feeding/treat stations haven't been cleaned in years so the animals done come near them. Nice small area inside to look around and see some fish and history in.
I’m a little confused on how this is considered the second largest zoo in South Dakota. It seems smaller than the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls. There really aren’t that many animals here. This is a nice place for kids with the petting zoo and play area but the animal exhibits were pitiful. The animals just look miserable here. I would drive the extra hour and a half to Sioux Falls to see the Great Plains Zoo again before I came back here.
Nice place for a family outing. I found myself wishing that my adult children were little again, however they liked it regardless. They have a wonderful children's area and this is a great zoo for the size of Watertown. We went in the afternoon so many of the animals were sleeping, so maybe mornings are better. They have a diverse selection of animals and I liked the American Bison the best.
Fun - even for those without children. My wife and I spring for a family membership every year!
A great zoo. Plenty of animals to see and things for the kiddos to do
Really like it it was a spur-of-the-moment thing but most important my seven-year-old grandson thought it was great then it was great
Love being able to see the animals up close. My kids love the play area within the zoo.
It's a smaller zoo that is great for younger children. The new petting zoo in the barn and the otter exhibit is great. There's not large crowds to deal with, either. Go in the morning before noon during the summer before it gets too hot because the animals are much more active. My children (8 and 3) and I really enjoyed this zoo. And we will continue to go back.
For a small community this zoo is well maintained and clean. The animals seem to be well taken care of and happy.
Interesting things to see
Do NOT go during the cold months, you will not be able to see over half of the animal exhibits.
Cute little zoo
Very nice, clean zoo.
Great start to the summer
Awesome place to go an see animals thank you for the free day you give each year it helps the people who can't afford to get in and have treats
Great zoo for such a relatively small South Dakota town

A great little zoo! Just the right size for a 4 year old! We had just enough energy left to go back and look at the animals we liked the best! For the price this little zoo is a great day trip to Watertown
Best Zoo in South Dakota. Close up encounters with the animals. Clean building, friendly staff, and affordable. I recommend getting a yearly pass if you have kids who will want to go more than once in a year.
Good time for the kids. Small but kids will enjoy.
I hate the fact that there are caged animals. I tried to look at the bright side, bit I saw filed teeth and klaws I was not impressed. When bird are clipped to stay down on there knee. I thought of genocide. These were the memories.. you might be able to take the animal out of the instinct, but you will never take the instinct of the animal.
A great little zoo. Plenty of animals to see. Very clean.
Very welcoming employees and the animals seemed to be we cared for!
A fun place to bring your kids to.
Very nice zoo, worth the drive from Aberdeen!
A place to for family to come and see the animals and buy stuffed animals of their choice....
This is an excellent zoo you get to be really close to the animals. It is well kept and easy to navigate.
It was so worth the drive from Sioux Falls. Loved how cute it was. Spent 2 hours there on my birthday.
Good family time
Really cool place. We had a Munzee event in the morning then at two they had their Zoo Boo even and the parking was crazy
Such a great addition to the city and an unexpected find for a town this size!
If you're in the area , this is an excellent place to stop for an afternoon. They have many indoor and outdoor exhibits. The petting zoo they added a few years ago is a great addition! We love visiting the zoo!
Bramble Park Zoo is always a great place for the whole family. They have something for all ages. Very well operated.
Very nice
Little but nice Zoo, especially considering Watertown is not that large of a city. The zoo has a nice section of local animals as well some information on how the Native Americans lived. We also thought it was very nice that they had the Lakota name for each animal.
We went again today and it was amazing , had so much fun
Fantastic staff. Some of the exhibits could surely stand to be a little bigger, but I guess that comes with being funded by the city. Dear Watertown, please direct more money toward the zoo.

Not what it used to be and I feel it is over priced
Good zoo for a small town
Amazing time @ the behind the scene. Well worth the time and money, thank you to Angie the zoo keeper for the awesome tour.

Great zoo.
My son loved the petting zoo and the feeding of the bears.
Great day at the zoo had a blast with family
A cozy little zoo with activities for kids and a variety of animals.
A NICE place to spend an.afternoon
I love working as a volenteer at the zoo I always have a blast as one of the few people that got picked to be on bramble park zoo crew.
For its size it really is a great zoo. Here in Omaha, NE we have a huge zoo, but this one was really good and only $10 a person. We were also lucky enough to show up on Linus the sloths birthday. The staff let us inside his enclosure and we got to pet him! Definitely a very cool experience!
They were really nice and the anmials were amazing
Comfortable and casual place to spend time with your family and friends. Wide variety of birds and animals. Has snack bar for refreshments and light snack. Clean and they're green.
We drove from Sioux Falls and do not regret this at all! Great zoo!
It's a small zoo, but very clean and cute.
Great zoo for a small community. Would definitely go again.
The animals
Nice clean zoo. Had fun with the family.
Very nice little zoo!
it brings back lota of memories, so when we were back in watertown for my grandmas funeral had to stop and ahow the kids.
Not bad needs more animals
Perfect size zoo to spend an afternoon with the kids. If you go early, (11) you can see them feed the bears! Kids love the petting zoo area.
It was a VERY cool zoo in South Dakota. It's better than the Whapeton zoo.
Reason for only one star: It's in South Dakota
Beautiful zoo! We all loved it!
Great place to go in the summertime have a lot of animals friendly atmosphere
This is a great zoo...compared to other larger zoos that I have visited, I really enjoyed this one. No, they don't have everything big and small...for example, there are no elephants, giraffes, lions or zebras, but the price definitely reflects that. I prefer this smaller zoo with no large crowds that you can easily enough walk through with kids in one morning. They have bears, kangaroos, monkeys, fish, cheetah, tiger, bald eagle, sloth, birds, buffalo, camels etc. There's plenty to see!
Been to this zoo many times over the past few years. Our kid's love it. For the size of town Watertown is, this zoo has a very generous amount of exhibits. Plus the indoor party rooms available are great for birthday parties and such.
Great Small Town Zoo...
Great place for kids to learn about animals and dinosaurs and friendly staff
So much to do and see! My kids had so much fun!
One of the best smalls zoos you will ever go to. Always enjoyable for adults and children.
Really nice for it's size. Kids love it and the goats like people to pet them.
Needs more to see and do
Many different types of animals things for kids to do
Love this zoo! So good for a town this size!

Would you expect one of the best zoos in the region to be in a town of 20,000 people? Me either! But Bramble Park is fantastic. And if you have a (very reasonable) membership it makes for a very nice place to have a bit of a walk with some nice scenery.
Top notch for the area. Clean, affordable, very friendly staff, lots of shade, lots of space for navigating the zoo, a very nice variety of animals with playgrounds available. The kids will enjoy.
Great park. Grandkids loved it.
Although small, for those that enjoy family and friendly zoo, this is a must go...
Very good the children enjoyed it and was very excited to see all the animals they never seen before
Not a huge zoo, but still some unique animals and a decent place to go
We had a lot of fun at the chili cook-off today, and we came early and looked at the animals, too.
Excellent zoo for such a small town. I loved the Amur tiger!
Amazing place to bring my daughter
Great day trip!
We had a very enjoyable time at the Bramble Park Zoo this afternoon. The grandkids loved it.
Went here a week ago & it was not a fun place, everything looked old, dated & unclean & there weren't a lot of animals to see... If you wanted to feed the animals you couldn't because every coin machine was out of order. The animal sanctuaries/aquariums were small, dirty & unkept, Its the first time I really felt sad for the animals because they looked sad
Zoo poor conditions alot exhibits are closed
Such a nice place to go. I've been going here since I was a little kid!
What a surprise for a small town. Wonderful zoo. We got there as it opened so they were feeding many of the animals and we got to see them. Nice exhibits, friendly staff and not too big. We spent about two hours.
For a city that I wouldn't expect to have a zoo I was really surprised at how nice it is. Very shady throughout with a lot of animals to see and a nice play area for kids. My boys had a blast and I will totally be coming back.
Great animals and a friendly staff

Great staff and zoo for its size. A great part if the community.
Amazing little zoo. Kids loved it.
Love this zoo!! My kids always have a blast and the staff here is so friendly and helpful
Great little zoo
Great zoo for the price!
the chili cookoff was a slightly unorganized:(
Great little zoo. Wish there were more exhibits though. Definitely a frequent spot for my kids
Nice little zoo, quick walk
Lots of the animals were sleeping.
Beautiful park setting with lovely landscaped grounds. Lots of different animals and birds living in large, clean, shaded areas. A great sandbox play area for young children. And don't miss the barn where a very friendly chicken roams free. A wonderful place for people of all ages where we can see & learn about the creatures that share the planet with us.
This is a very nice zoo I recommend the trip
Good place to take a grandchildren.
Nice and clean animals were healthy
Small zoo but very nice with a descent verity of animals. A bit off the beaten path if traveling the interstate but worth stopping in.
Small zoo! Our family loved it!
These people take great care about animals. Something I would loooove to do as a job. For a smaller town, I recommend this zoo to the animal, and rock lovers. The mining addition is fun and well worth the money. I still can't get over the perfect landscaping, and squeaky clean floors. Thank you for our many experiences (and more to come) every time we've been here!
Spendy, for a whole family to go. I think child prices are to high.
Bramble Park zoo is really nice.. Great attraction for a town our size!!
Great zoo! Wonderful conservation efforts and creativity in the gift shop.
Friendly and fun
It is fun and clean zoo.
Bramble Park Zoo is a great zoo to visit anytime. They do a great job keeping everything clean and the animals are well cared for always.
Nice zoo
This place is great, especially for South Dakota. I particularly enjoy their monkeys, they were better than the Minnesota Zoo in my opinion.
Love the new barn and otter exhibit
Looking at the animals was great. But be ready to open ur pocket book to get in. Way too expensive.
Pretty neat zoo for the location!
Always love going to the zoo!
Always a fantastic time at the zoo!
For a city that I wouldn't expect to have a zoo I was really surprised at how nice it is. Very shady throughout with a lot of animals to see and a nice play area for kids. My boys had a blast and I will totally be coming back.
Nice little zoo for the family.
Grandkids enjoyed. And Pete and I did get the Grandparents membership
My experience with Google Map excellent
Always improving! A must stop every trip back. Much more than, most would expect for a small SD town.
Nice, clean and peaceful zoo.
Small zoo, lots of different animals for the zoo.
Wonderful animals but so sad the beautiful magnificent leopards & tiger have such a small cage/prison to spend their lives in. Needs an overhaul to give them a space worthy of them so can have a better life then pacing back & forth in such a prison. The whole zoo needs better spaces for their wonderful animals. Visit Fargo Red River Zoo.. we don't have big cats as have cold weather species but well run & accredited breeding program as have more offspring from endangered species then most zoos.
Wonderful
My girls ages 3 and 5 absolutely loved it. The Tiger was really close! It was so cool to see such an amazing animal that close...Also the black panther and jaguar were AWESOME to see.
Beautiful, peaceful and fun for entire family. Also, the zookeepers here are top notch!
Good exhibits indoors and out. The variety of primates is a highlight. They also have a domestic animal section.
My family loved this zoo! Small, but their motto, “get closer” is no joke! They have spacious exhibits, but we’ve never been so close to bears, eagles, condors, tigers, bison, and camels. Such a great place, very pleased we took the time to stop.
Tiny zoo. Can literally walk the whole thing in 10-15 minutes. They do have a active tiger though that can keep your attention if you come on the right day.

Please do something with the first impression/ ticket entrance !! Such a high quality establishment should not have its concessions, entrance tickets, and gift store all packed into a confusing horrendously understaffed little corner. Throw in a few strollers, a wheel chair, a shopper from the store, someone needing change, someone wanting concessions and its a quagmire of inefficiency! Please bring the greeting /first impression for new and returning patrons up to the standards of the rest of the zoo!!! — feeling sad.
Bramble Park Zoo is a treasure in Watertown. Yes, there are many better zoo's. Yes, they do not have many amazing exotic animals in this zoo. However, the zoo is in a town of twenty thousand, and with that in mind, it is a wonderful zoo. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable, and the zoo participates in the community in many ways.
Fun little zoo. Not a huge place but they have a good variety of animals and the price is pretty cheap.
Watertown is so blessed to have this Zoo. It is always immaculately clean and the environment for the animals is so nice
AMAZING!THABK YOU FOR THE DEDICATION TO GRAMPA & GRANMA CEROLL:)
Nice size zoo that takes about an hour to go through. Has various monkeys and cats, buffalo, otters, and petting zoo. Small store offers snack and zoo novelties.
Great zoo, made a nice stop on our road trip. Clean and animals looked well cared for. Lots of stuff for kids to do. The enclosures for the large animals, especially the big cats, were small though :(
Great zoo, great exhibits and very clean. Friendly staff.
Great fun! Very well maintained and updated. Full of educational material on every exhibit. Plenty of play areas for children.
Awesome zoo and staff are friendly and helpful.
Nice clean zoo with ample attractions to keep us entertained for a few hours.
Loved it! What a great experience & very informative. The Terry Redlin paintings we're a fantastic bonus!
A nice little zoo. Nice park and nice exhibits.
Great zoo for a small town. Great events that take place as well.
Love the animals and it was just peaceful and an enjoyable experience
This is a neat zoo with a lot to do for all ages. They have a good variety of animals and the entry fee isn't bad at all.
Nothing wrong with a nice afternoon at the zoo. Nice size lots of stuff to see.
the wolves where awsome
Kids loved the zoo, very friendly!
Wonderful family place.
The zoo always looks clean when I visit. The staff seems friendly. They have a decent amount of animals for a fairly small town. In rating this a 4-star based on the size and the expectations although you could almost give it a 5-star for that. The reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it's not a zoo you go out of your way for. It is a great place to burn a few hours while in town.
Awesome small zoo. Cool animals, didnt expect to see a snow leopard, or tiger in Watertown, SD.
Best zoo ever
My son loved it. Great employees and tons of stuff to see.
For SD zoo's it's good. Not a lot of animals i wasn't impressed having been to much larger zoo's but my 5 year old son loved it especially the petting zoo portion
I really enjoyed this zoo. It was very well kept and the animals appeared to be in great health. I would most definitely visit again. Recommend stopping in if you are passing through or live near the area.
This zoo was awesome! Great variety of animals and nice setting. We had 5 boys 7 and under and they all had a wonderful experience. I recommend this zoo highly.
Super friendly knowledgeable staff. Wide variety of Healthy happy animials
Great zoo! Helpful staff. Plans for several hours!
For watertown ad it was better than I could have imagined.
Wonderful time visiting! My husband, two children and myself all had a great time! The setup was very beautiful I would love to go back many times!!
Loved the otters, and the tiger was in a talkative mood when we went by.
Very nice for a small town zoo.
Love this place. Thank you so much for the free day.
