Here you have the reviews of people who bought the products of Conservators Center (Zoo) in South Carolina.
Currently the firm receives a score of 4.8 stars over 5 and this rating has been based on 299 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is almost the top, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the rating is very faithful. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to give scores when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Zoo is included in the category of Non-profit organization.
This place is truly a blessing to me. It's a place where you can see animals up close and learn about their species as well as each animals specific personalities
I truly love this place! I've lost count, but believe this was my 6th visit in about 3.5 years! Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable...I learn something new art every visit!
This place is a must see! The most interesting attraction in the area, and the people there are wonderful. There are animals there I have never seen or heard of before, and to be that close to the big cats - it was amazing!
You know what zoos lack? A tour guide! What's looking at animals of you can't ask questions? This place is great. It's kind of small, but they have good variety and well informed guides. Good for families, groups, kids, anyone. You need to stay calm, so maybe don't bring kids (or spouses
The best place you may never have realized was almost in your backyard... and one you DO NOT want to miss!! OOF with lions up close and personal (you'll have to visit them to understand that terminology!!)... enjoy seeing a tiger splash in her pool or take a treat from a tour guide... meet a Binturong for the first time... fall in love with a bobcat... and get to know the humans who love and care for each of these animals . You'll go on a guided tour where the humans know the facts about, and personal stories of each of the animals.
This was a wonderful experience for me and my daughter. We highly recommend this to anyone who love animals and wants to get close to these beautiful creatures. It's not about captive animals, it's about conservation, education and rescue. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and made the experience that much more entertaining. We plan to return for a different tour at a later date and have told all of our friends!
Place is fantastic if you love animals especially lions, tigers etc check it out. Awesome nonprofit group
Fantastic day. The guide was very good with children and very informed. I will defiantly be back.
The people here are really passionate about their animals and sharing information about them on tours. You can ask a lot of questions and get great answers back. It's a much more personal experience than a zoo, and you have the benefit of helping an organization that rescues animals in need.
Wonderful experience at a great price! I took my wife here for her birthday and we both had a blast. Our tour guide walked us through the area, telling specific stories about each animal we came across. Her knowledge was impressive! We were also lucky enough to hear the lions, dogs, and wolves call out to one another. There is nothing like hearing several lions "oof" (call out) to one another! You feel their power in your chest and can't help but stand in awe. The Conservators Center has both adult and family tours. This is a great place to come for all ages!
Informative and exciting. My 6y.o. daughter and I spent the couple of hours touring the conservation center. There were many exotic animals and we were thrilled to be so close to the big cats especially. We learned a lot from the enthusiastic and passionate, knowledgeable guide (Michelle?). Having been to other theme-park sort of animal places (disliked), it was really great to see animals that seemed happy and respected. We missed out on one of the tigers because she indicated she didn't want visitors and I appreciated that response from the guide. The mission of the Conservators Center is lovely and honorable, not exploitative nor cutesy. It was a chilly, damp day but we dressed appropriately. Use the restroom before the tour starts.
We loved the personal details and relationship the tour guide had with the animals.
This place is better then any zoo! Tour guide Kim was great and knew her stuff. Took the Twilight tour so we even got to see the animals that were nocturnal as well. Would recommend for all ages.
This is one of my favorite places in all of NC. You get THISCLOSE to some of the coolest animals on the planet. The tour guides know what makes them tick, purr, roar, chortle, and howl. Go. Now. Or if you can wait until dusk - go for the twilight tour when the animals start to wake up and talk! Bring the kids and ask questions; the guides know everything it seems. you'll love it!
Amazing! Make reservations and listen to the guides!
Beautiful place to see real animals up close, some extremely rare. Worth the trip!
We had a wonderful time. We did the Family Adventures tour and it was such a memorable experience. We got up close and personal to many different types of exotic animals. They had over a dozen big cats!!! They even roared for us at the coaxing our guide. It took our breath away! My 6 year old daughter wants to be a wildlife conservationist and we thought this special place would be a good place to start learning more about wild animals. The animals seem to be happy and content living ouy their golden years here. We highly recommend if you're an animal lover!
Great experience! You get to be very close to a ton of big cats and wolves.
Great time with the family. Beautiful animals big and small. Will definitely come again.
We had such a good time here, took the kids on a hot Sunday morning. A lot of the animals were lounging in the shade due to the heat but the animal keepers were very good at their job! They treated us to a group "roar" session and got to enjoy hearing all the lions, the tigers AND the wolves howl and roar as a family! So interesting that they live there but the staff cares so much for these animals, the animals are calm and relaxed around people, they seemed to love their life. It was such a fascinating trip with great education for kids and opportunity to get up close to these beautiful animals.
Such a great tour! The staff was knowledgeable and really focused on the comfort of the animals. They are truly rescuing the animals there, that would otherwise not Survive in the wild.
This is an awesome place to get up & close with big cats. The tour guide was very knowledgeable & has roars that the animals respond back.
This place was absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough about the tour you get ( I went to the Adult Winter in the Wild tour). The tour guides are very knowledgeable, and do a great job interacting with you and the animals. The animals themselves are obviously well taken care of...I highly recommend this place!
This place is a hidden gem! My partner and I made the drive up from Chapel Hill to spend an afternoon here. A tour took 2 hours and the tour guide was very educated and informative. The experience was more of an open conversation between everyone on the tour and the tour guide. I love the tour options so that we could have an afternoon free of kids distracting everyone. Definitely worth the price for a general tour. We will be back when it isn’t so hot outside!
Rip Alex a 22 years old girl who loved animals you will be missed
Awesome and incredible place, beautiful wild animal, the Lion, tigers, love the wild wolves with blue eyes & and white tiger that one was beautiful, it amazing place, close to my house!!!!!! And people they are wonderful!
This place is amazing! Talk about up close with these beautiful animals. I have been twice, and both times I had really knowledgeable guides that were very invested in the mission of education and conservation. The animals are clearly well cared for.
Had a fun time with my son and grand dtrs!
An amazing experience that wouldn't be possible without visitors and donations. I will go here before I go to the zoo!! Nothing like it it
We had such a great time visiting for the special event movie night. We will be back asap!
I am not sure where to begin. My family and I made the trip to the Conservators Center and we of course were excited to see animals. Seeing animals is only a small portion of the experience provided by the center. The knowledge and kindness of all of those who work and or volunteer there can be felt as you visit. The animals care and safety are clearly number one for everyone there. The bond with the animals is a joy to see. Visiting the center made me want to move closer to it to be a part of the family. We are already planning our next visit.
Great place to visit. The volunteers are very friendly and the animal are wonderful
Great place good people
We had such an amazing, interactive experience at the Conservator's Center. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and had a wealth of information to share about each animal we saw. The next time you're thinking about going to the zoo, come here instead. I know I'll definitely be back.
A great place period. A bucket list up close and personal experience.
I'm a little biased as I'm related to the director but The Conservators Center is a very unique experience. You will be closer to these animals than any zoo. Close enough that you can hear them chuffle, see the details in their fur or claws, and truly experience these animals. You'll also see they are active and interactive with you because they are happy, curious, and lively. Every single person who works or volunteers at The Conservators' Center has a deep seated love of what they do. They also care greatly about the welfare and health of every single animal and it shows in everything they do. From their work to how they talk about the animals. You can always tell how passionate someone is about a subject, person or animal by how energetic and knowledgeable they are. What's unique about The Conservators' Center is that they focus not just on rescue, but on education and responsible policy making in local, state and federal government. They work with NCSU Vet School and plethora of other people who recognize what they are doing and contribute back. Your experience here won't be limited to "oh look at the pretty animals". You'll learn about where they came from, who they are (animals have personalities too!), and much more. It's an experience you can't get anywhere else.
The tour guides Diane and Leah took us around to see all these beautiful creatures. The guides were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The center is run almost exclusively on volunteers. It's so impressive and a must see. I am already looking forward to going back again.
So amazing to see and learn about these animals. The tours are filled with a great amount of educational material and the animals are a wonder.
Most enjoyable day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Adult & children friendly.
Great educational tours, guides are wonderful with accommodating different ages groups and levels of interest. Getting interactive wolf howls and lions to "oof" are definitely highlights each trip.
Great place to see and be near exotic cats and dogs. We had a great time. The tour guides made the lions talk tk each other and that was the most amazing thing ever!! So much fun
Was so interesting to see different species of felines and canines living near each other in a positive setting. Nice to know that there are places where exotics animals can find refuge for better lives. The people who work there really care for the animals. We will definitely be going back.
Our group of 5 adults and 2 teens took a tour and loved it! We all learned a lot. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and her love for the animals was obvious.
There's a lot of amazing different feline and cats. Very large opening to be able to see the sky at night if you're into astronomy is the best place to go to see the stars at times just recently there is a meteor shower that was very visible through the conservation center.
We had a great time! Our tour guide was fun and informative. This was a great experience for the whole family! Will definitely be going back!
Sean was an excellent tour guide. The adventure tour was both fun and informative and the animals were obviously well cared for and frequently interacted with.
A must see!!! This is way better than any zoo and you get to see everything quite close with a guided tour.
AWESOME experience being that close to Lion, Tigers, Wolves etc.
Can't go enough.. Lions , tigers lemurs! Ooooooomph
Outstanding experience. This was a blast and I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
Wonderful twilight tour. Incredible to be so close to these animals and our tour guide was GREAT.
Had a great time and learned a lot!!!
Absolutely loved it enjoyed the whole time I was there the Safari tour that I took getting to see them feed the cats and wolves was really very unique everyone should go
Excellent! Our tour guide was knowledgable and friendly without being obnoxious. He got the group involved in the tour, and when someone stumped him with a question, he didn't flounder - he was honest and said we could ask one of the keepers for the answer! Wonderful experience for children and adults.
Great experience.
Gr8
Nice place to take kids. They will learn and enjoy alot
Awesome animal park. Highly recommend.
We loved the twilight tour! Our guides Jake and Michelle were friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
Up close viewing of big cats for a good cause.
Michelle our tour guide was awesome and most of the animals were out and you could get up close to see them. Such beautiful animals.
Lions, tigers, lemurs, wolves, and more. An educational and exciting tour experience to help a non-profit help exotic animals in need. The tour is fun for all ages. Unlike a zoo they even have twilight tours at night so you can see golden eyes and animals that you may not know even existed. The photograph is of a snoozing serval. She seems quite happy to me.
What an awesome place for people to learn about animals. The kids loved it!
Excellent experience! Very unique place, it's nothing like a zoo. Highly recommend!!
Great place to go to to get a real close look of their many cats. The place is practically entirely run by volunteers so it a great opportunity to support this group.
Very clean and well kept
We did the Adult Treat Safari Tour and it was amazing! I have always had a love for animals and an admiration and fascination for large wild animals and to see them up so close is better than what words could explain! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about her work and the care of all the animals. The facts about the specifies in general was interesting as well as hearing about the eye opening threats and dangers the species face. It's a must do for anyone and everyone to see how these wild animals should be cared for and how to respect the differences between a wild animal and a domesticated pet. Way better than any zoo.. you see the animals up close and in the most natural of habitat as possible and learn more with your personal tour guide!
The areas best kept secret for sure! You are so close to all the animals and the tour guides are the BEST! They give you information on the facility and tons of information on the animals. They even make call nioses to get the animals "talking" to one another. There's also an option for those who can't walk it. You can pay $5 more for a ride in the golf cart. This is a great idea so I can take my mom next time. I can't wait to go back for another tour. I'm even looking into volunteering there.
This place is AMAZING!!! My mom, sister, and I went on the adult tour today and we LOVED it!! The people were super friendly and informative! The animals were beautiful and amazing! I cannot wait to go back!! What's even more amazing is that you can volunteer here as well!! I LOVE this place!! AMAZING!!
Beautiful, unforgettable. ..the roaring lions snd howling wolves are hauntingly beautiful
Wonderful tour guide, beautiful exotic animals, and educational. Had a great time with my son.
Absolutely fantastic place. The staff and volunteers are clearly devoted to the safety and care of these majestic rescued exotic animals. Special events are a blast to attend. It's a wonderful place to get a close (but still be very safe) peek at animals you might never get to be this close to.
Such informative guides. Loved seeing (AND HEARING) the animals
Up close with lions, get understanding of their lives and some rare Animals there
This place is wonderful. They offer education and a unique experience with animals.
Our son gave us this visit as a gift. I can say it was a great experience, and our guide Shawn was very informative. I highly recommend a outting here.
Most amazing place ever!
This place is an amazing experience. It is a chance to get up close to some great animals. They are focused on conservation and education and provide humane habitats for their animals. I would recommend this place to any animal lover.
This was our second visit and it was just as fabulous as the first. We were on the treats tour with Michelle. Informative and fun. She had a great rapport with the group.
Thank you Conservators Center for being open when most people close! You made a little girl's birthday very happy! Seeing the Conservator's center and all it's residents in the #snow was beautiful! Lucky for us everybody else cancelled and we had a private tour! Everyone there was knowledgeable, kind and the animals well cared for and happy! Please take the time to visit them in Burlington North Carolina and support them and their special inhabitants! They are doing great things out there! This is home for a lot of endangered, hurt and healing animals that wouldn't otherwise survive in the wild!
Good morning Friends. I learned here today in LISBON / PORTUGAL of your sadness for the accident with the young woman and the lion. I send a hug and lots of strength to your team and parents.
Great place and AWESOME people, it’s well worth the visit. If you want to see Tigers, Lions, Wolves and singing dogs up close this is quite an experience. And when the staff gets the lions to ooof, it’s really amazing to hear. I’ve been several times and each visit was different. The seasonal events they hold are well worth attending because the animals are excited about what’s happening. The facility is safe, well kept up so if you have small children there’s no need to worry, they’ll be ok and will have a great learning experience themselves. I support what they’re doing and my wife and I are life time adopters of a small animal at the Conservative Center.
Great place for a 1/2 day trip. The staff is knowledgeable. It was fun to her the Lions oofing.
Always a pleasure!
I had a amazing time the animals were cool very nice variety it's a great family outting I went on the adventure tour my guide kevin was awesome I enjoyed it my frist time going was today I'll definitely be doing the twilight tour next
I brought my kids on the Whiskers and Tails tour and it was a blast! Leah was an amazing tour guide, filled with insightful and interesting knowledge that really made the tour stand apart from any other animal sanctuary/zoo type place we have visited. So many amazing animals to see and you get a much closer view!! We cannot wait to come back!
Nice place but not all tours are available. Need to make a reservation before to go!
Fun place to visit. Tour guides are very knowledgeable
Awesome experience
Best wildlife around. Great people doing a great job.
Very interesting and educational. I enjoyed my tour.
It was a good experience. The animals were beautiful.
The Lions Roar
In full disclosure I volunteer there and have been for the last eight years. It is a great place to visit and volunteer.
We had a great time here, and the tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. I especially liked listening to the lions calling to one another. Nice gift shop too.
Love visiting the animals! Tours are fun and informative, great field trip options, picnic tables for a snack after a tour, especially love the stories behind each animal.
Very cool hidden gem in North Carolina. If you’re lucky, they can get the lions to roar and it’s an irreplaceable experience. It was educational and the animals are well taken care of: no pacing, they’re stimulated and socialized, fed dailey, etc. Check it out!
Great visit
I took a guided group tour that lasted about two hours. The two guides mostly talked about the personal stories of all the animals and answered any questions from the group. It was exciting to see all of the big cats including lions, tigers and leopards. However, most of the animals weren't too active as they just laid around and relaxed just as they would in nature. I guess only tasty treats and some interactive toys would get their attention. It was somewhat sad to see such large and even small wild cats confined to cages, but remember that this is a private organization and not a large zoo. However, the staff members seem to take good care of all the animals. Overall, I think the conservators center is a hidden gem that would attract more visitors with better widespread marketing.
Nice place. Tour not good for impatient people
Excellent place to go to to see Bobcats leopards lions tigers a Twilight tour is excellent cuz the Lions actually Roar that was amazing the staff was excellent thank you very much I had an excellent outstanding amazing time
Absolutely Awesome ! We took the Twilight Tour, and it was an amazing, amazing experience. You can get very close to the animals, and it is unbelievable how loud 20 roaring Lions really are. The habitats were very clean, and the animals were obviously well fed and happy. I would highly recommend this park to anyone, old or young. I will definitely come back.
Great location for all ages. Multiple tour options are available with special opportunities for teachers and their classes.
I would recommend this place to everyone . It's highly enjoyable for kids or adults. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and clearly have a passion for the animals. The animals are all healthy and have nice enclosures. They have an awesome gift store also. We heard the wolves howl and lions talk. It was an awesome experience and I would totally love to go back.
This place is incredible. I loved every minute of my tour. Seeing these majestic creatures up close and personal was amazing. I cannot say enough good things about this place. The guides, and other workers and volunteers truly care about the animals' well being and put their happiness above all else. It was inspiring to see how bonded the animals were to their keepers.
Professional, knowledgeable staff. nice explanations and tour. Highly recommended.
The Center and staff are top notch. From just one visit, I learned not only a lot about the animals and the work the Center does, but also see how dedicated their staff are to the betterment of these beautiful animals, the education of the community, and their honest responsibility to making sure these animals are well cared for and that their species continue to thrive in their natural environment. Our guide, Kim, was not only passionate about her work, but great with kids and adults alike, teaching us and guiding us to a deeper respect for their number one residents. Go visit. Take your children. Get involved. You'll love it! I can't wait to go back.
Great way to spend the afternoon. The people were knowledgeable and invested in the work they devote themselves towards.
We were happy to discover this hidden gem. A non-profit organization that accepts injured or displaced animals to live out their days in comfort. Lions, tigers, lynx and singing dogs are just a few of the beautiful creatures there. We were in a small group led by a guide who was informative and friendly. He told us how the animals would behave in the wild, how they came to be at the center and of their individual personalities. At about two hours, it was a pleasurable morning walk. I recommend carrying water and wearing comfortable shoes.
Really fun and interesting experience. The tour guide was very nice and you could see how they really care about the animals.
Where else can you see bug cats this close!?
This is truly an amazing place. This is a great cause and a tremendous Center. From conservatory efforts to breeding programs for endangered species, these folks are truly top notch. An experience you'll never forget. Take a tour, bring the family, you will not be disappointed. I bought a membership after my visit, have already been back for an even, plan on making many more visits. Finally an effort worth giving to!!!
A wonderful place to learn about animals, especially large wild cats! I was quite impressed with the care and love the volunteers and keepers and administrators have for these animals who are in their care because they need a safe home. In particular I appreciated that each animal can have a companion animal if they so choose, and the caretakers are very careful to introduce the new friends that allows them to get to know each other in a safe way.
Awesome place. Friendly staff, great tour
This place is a hidden gem! The tour guides obviously look e and respect the animals so much. It is a truly unique experience for any age group!
This is an awesome place!! Took a tour this past weekend and I left speechless. They are doing such an amazing job educating humans, and protecting these animals!
This place was awesome; my boyfriend set up for us to go on a Twilight Tour and we got to walk around and see the animals; they have big animals like lions, tigers, and wolves, and smaller ones like Geoffroy's cats and binturongs. The volunteers were very knowledgeable about each animal's habits and history, and it's just great knowing these animals are well cared for and loved.
Very informative, had a great guide showing us around.
This was the first time I have visited the center. It was amazing and just wonderful to see all the different animals that are there. our guide was very informative and very very pleasant. I look forward to going again
We really enjoyed our visit! It's not fancy because it's a conservation center and not a "zoo," but they have done a great job making it people-friendly and making the experience fun and educational. Everyone should go oofing with lions!
Great time.. tour guides were full of information on the animals , you can tell they really care for the animals which were amazing by the way.
Just experienced the treat tour. It was pretty amazing. You get a personal up close experience. Hear lions chuff and see lions and tigers together. Great friendly staff. Much better than any zoo visit.
A wonderful family experience! Tours are given by well educated staff and volunteers who love the Center's mission. The tours are very reasonably priced and extremely enjoyable. If you love big cats give this place a visit and support a great cause.
If you're looking for something to do in the Alamance County area and also want to contribute to a good cause, I highly recommend a visit to the Conservators Center! Knowledgeable staff/volunteers and a wonderful experience!
Love love this place. Great place to visit for all ages. Was able to do a private "safari photo" tour and had a blast. Got some fabulous pics
Best, close up animal tour in NC. Twilight tour is an awesome experience. Sean(our guide) was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the animals. Definately a must see for animal lovers.
The lions are huge! I've seen a few lions in my time, but these take the cake. They even have a group of lions and tigers living together, which I had never seen before. They seem to have everything but bears living there.
Fabulous place. Wonderful people who do a wonderful thing. So much fun to get up close and personal with the animals and nice to be able to interact with the tour guide and ask questions! Educational and entertaining. Very fun for young and old.
Make sure to do reservation before to visit the zoo or otherwise will have the same bad experience as me and my family .
I absolutely love this place. I wish I could go here every day but its just too far for me. I wish I could give all my money here too. They really do help these animals a lot and the experience you get is amazing. You are so close to the animals. I had a tiger walk super close to me and chuffle which means he was saying hi and I had to chuffle back to not be rude. My favourite animal is the binturong. He was just the cutest doing backflips. It's not that expensive to go either. Any time someone visits me, I always bring them here and they absolutely love this place. Its always the favourite part of their visit to NC. There is also a special part at the end of the trip but I won't ruin it although you may see it if you read more into the comments. It's best if you make it a surprise when you bring your kids or visitors.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff, very well maintained enclosures and grounds, and the animals are all calm, healthy, and happy.
Great place to get close to big cats.
Nice place. They need help with volunteers and better cages for the big cats.
Such a beautiful experience
Fantastic place!! We came her for a treats and toys tour for Mother's Day and it was a lot of fun. Our tour guide, Kim, was amazing and has a true love for the animals here. I came home and immediately looked at other tours to go to!!
I had no idea how much fun this was going to be. If I had I would have done it sooner. Excellent information. Great guide. The animals of course are the stars of the show, and they shine. Never thought I would be so close to lions and tigers. Wonderful experience.
Amazing zoo, educational tours, friendly staff and just an all around amazing, fun place to be in. Also it all goes for a good cause!
This is my favorite animal sanctuary that I've ever visited. It is not a depressing place where you feel pity for the animals. The staff at the Conservators Center are incredibly dedicated to the well-being and comfort of the cats and other mammals living there. The enclosures are substantial and provide perches and activities for the animals. Some of the cats have their own personal oscillating fans, haha. On your tour, you are able to get within a few feet of these huge carnivores. It is a humbling experience to be so close to such large predators. The twilight tour is especially entertaining, as the guides are able to get the lions to "oof" to each other. Standing in the dusk, surrounded by roaring lions, is very chilling. The wolves like to chime in with the lions as well, such a cool experience. Try this place out. I gave it one shot and have been returning every year ever since.
I had an absolutely wonderful time at the conservators center! We went for the "Meet a Big Cat" event as well as an "Adult Adventure". The website made it seem that we'd only get to feed one tiger or lion, but we ended up feeding several! Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and it was really obvious that they love the animals dearly. I would advise asking lots of questions, since that makes the whole experience that much better! I asked tons of questions and our guide wasn't stumped once! It was also super cold and he kept on going/didn't rush us at all even though he was visibly shivering (bless his heart!). They weren't pushy about donations at all, and I learned so much about the animals. I couldn't recommend the conservators center more. I will note that there aren't many places to eat near by (and of those they're all closed on Sundays) so plan accordingly.
All 15 family members visited as a Christmas gift. Private tour was great. We had fun and got to see some unique animals up close and personal. People who see this place as a zoo, have it all wrong. According to the guide most of these animals were transferred in or rescued. Its a wonderful facility where we the audience can be a small part of the rescue process. It's obvious the staff and volunteers work very hard to take care of these animals. They live in a nurturing environment where they are still free to excersize their wild instincts. Nay sayers should visit this facility and listen to the personal story of each animal. Truly amazing. We appreciate what you guys are doing right here in our backyard in Burlington.
This is a high-quality place to visit. Lots of really cool animals and they look to be very well taken care of. They have the option for adoption and as I understand it, they also have an option for camping there in warmer weather. I am definitely going to check that out this year. I will be returning.
Great way to see big cats!
These folks are the best! If you haven't taken a tour yet, do it! Reservations required! For some unique fun and perspective, attend one of the special events offered, such as animal painting, tree toss, and more! And if you visit Iron Gate winery, be sure to pick up some of the animal-labeled wines to help support the wild ones!
On Dec. 30, 2018, Alexandra Black, an intern, was fatally mauled by a lion here. It took approximately 4 hours to recover her body. The staff were unable to subdue the lion; tranquilizer guns were not quickly available. Caswell County deputies shot the lion. Since that time, the Conservators Center has answered no questions about this tragic event, surrounding itself with lawyers. The lion was not rabid, but its rabies shot was not up to date. What else hasn't been checked and kept current? Fencing? Safety procedures? Given the Conservators Center' cover-up, unaccredited status, appalling silence, and lack of transparency, I strongly recommend that you avoid this place, for your safety and the safety of those you love. Until they disclose what happened that day and take steps to prevent it from ever happening again, the Conservators Center should remain closed and no one should visit.
It was an awesome place to go with kids, and it kept them interested. I loved to hear the animals howl and roar. It made me want to learn more about animals.
It's a bit of a hike, but they have beautiful big cats and exotic species. A private tour is required to see the facility, and you must book in advance. We loved getting the lions to "oomph" and getting the wolves to howl. Such beautiful creatures there, and you can tell the staff really cares!
Great reserve for wild cats, foxes and some unusual breeds. Requires reservation yet you will get a tour guide. Pretty easy walk, golf carts for disabled.
Loved the tour! My wife and I enjoyed a 2 hour personal tour of the facility. The animals were mostly interactive with the tour guides and we loved seeing them so close. Would definitely recommend!
What a fantastic facility! You will never go to another zoo again once you have experienced these fine animals and excellent tour guides! Wait until you hear the "oofing" for yourself. The ground will shake and so will you. Absolutely fantastic. Only an hour drive from Raleigh and well worth every second of the road trip.
Great experience. Animals seemed well cared for. Guide very knowledgeable. Tour was a good length...not to long, not too short.
Had a very informative day will have to bring my granddaughter over to see
My Husband took me here for my birthday in May, we did a twilight tour and it was AWESOME! Everyone who works here is amazingly friendly and they were very informative. The tour was wonderful, we saw a lot of different animals, learned about that specific animal and the situation that led them to the Conservators center, learned about the species and how they adapt and survive in the wild and in captivity. My favorite part, of course, was being able to hear all the lions roaring and wolves howling at the end of the tour. This place is great for children and adults, and I can not wait to go back!
We visited the Conservators Center for the first time in January 2016, shortly after Christmas. They had a unique event where kids could decorate trees and boxes, which were then given to the big cats to play with. The kids thought it was great to see the lion playing with their gifts. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional and you can tell they truly care for all the animals at the facility.
This place is awesome for all ages. The animals are well loved, and well taken care of. Even working on a budget funded mostly by donations, the first priority is care for the animals (mentally and physically). The caretakers and volunteers are very knowledgeable and there is lots to learn. It is tricky to find, so be sure your GPS matches what the website shows. There isn't much shade for 1/2 the tour, so plan accordingly.
A great organization doing great things
Had a nice time with my child for the twilight tour.. definitely going back
