This is the place to go for kids, it's like a wonderland for them! There is so much to do here with all the live animals you get to see and even feed! When you pay for admission you can buy the food there as well and get to feed all sorts of animals. When we went in December there was a live peacock roaming around! It's definitely an adventure. You can even get local honey there too! If you are new to the area or have bad allergies it's said that if you eat local honey it can help you get use to the pollen and reduce your allergies, so why not give it a try!? There is plenty of parking and an area to buy lunch for the family! The commute is a little long if you're not close to the area but it's totally worth it!

Wonderful place to go. It is located in the country so prepare for a ride. Truly a hidden gem. All times i have been on a field trip but i would highly recommend to go on a weekend when it's open to public. It's always so hectic on the weekdays with the school because of the time limit. It's definetly fun and educational.

The lemurs are the best part. They are so cute and they love those Cheerios. I don't like that are locked up in tiny cages, with several others, where they barely have any room to move. They're so sweet and gentle and need more space. There are plenty of other animals to see as well, so plan on spending about 2 hours to walk around and interact with them. If you're counting on the "cafe" there to have a selection of food, you're going to be disappointed. Your options are pizza or chicken nuggets. Yes, those are the adult options as well as the kid options. That being said, the pizza was decent and my kids ate her nuggets without complaint. So if you don't want to bring food, you do have an option. Try to go when it's cooler and less crowded so the animals interact more since they won't have been overfed, and bring insect repellent! O and unless you want a workout, leave the stroller. There is gravel that lines the path and in some sections and it's a real struggle to get through it. All in all, it's worth going.

I sent a woman here that I met on the Ft Sumter tour and when I took my friend from out of state 5 hours later, we saw the lady and she agreed this was the BEST place in her Charleston tour. An absolute awesome little hidden zoo out in the country. I was quite surprised with the size of the zoo and variety of animals. The kids loved it! Mom and Dad enjoyed it too. They have a cafe there, so you can easily spend a half of a day without needing to leave. It was great, I'm sure we'll return.

I really like coming here and everyone is very nice. They keep improving and expanding and it’s really nice to see the transformation. We came here a little late in the day and it’s was much more pleasant because it had lots of shade and less crowded. I like that they have a new picnic table area and water/garden play area. It would be nice to see them expand this as well especially for the summer hot days to cool down the kids with a splash of water. The new and growing animal exhibits are great. I would like to see a washing station other then the restrooms.

This is one of my favorite places to spend a few hours and get out of the area for a bit. The animals are beautiful and so clearly well-loved and taken care of. The staff refers to them by their names and talks about them as though they were their children (I can't stop thinking about the sweetheart, Jill - the caretaker just loved her). They have expanded it since I was there last and there are quite a few more animals. The aviary is so fun and the birds are so friendly. I love this place!

Enjoyed all of the animals. The naturalist was awesome. He educated us on spiders especially. Even helped me overcome my spider fear by holding a tarantula. Totally worth the $12 fee. My only complaint was the food in the cafe. And one rude employee in said cafe. Other than that we had an awesome day. Thank you Bee City!!

This is a great place to take the kids. I went with my daughter and grandson. It wasn't their first trip so he had a great time explaining the place and animals to me. Bee City is more like a small zoo than just a bee farm. They've got plenty of animals and the kids are able to feed them as you walk through. There's a building with snakes and a small gator and a tortoise. The kids can hold a snake and gator as well interact with the tortoise. It's educational as well as fun. We had a wonderful day!

I have visited Bee City several times. Such a perfect place to teach and show kids the love and respect t for animals! Grounds are clean, homes for the animals are appropriate. You can tell the animals are loved and cared for . The employees are Top notch! They are very friendly, knowledgeable about the animals, and take time to answer questions The restaurant is great!! Food fresh and worth the price! All in all it’s a great place to take your kids or grands and make memories!! Before leaving today my 8 year old grandson was already asking when we could return!!! Bee city is a great local animal park. They have a wide assortment of animals, many of which you can pet and feed. This is a great place to bring your kids to. Keep in mind that some of the areas have gravel walkways and may be difficult for strollers. My daughter loved the birds.

This is by far the cutest petting zoo I have been to! They give you the option for animal food to feed with and the lemurs are the cutest at grabbing the Cheerios! It’s a bit of a drive but well worth it! There’s also an air conditioned building where you can eat lunch after seeing all the cute animals!

We have been going here for close to a decade and it has grown leaps and bounds during that time. This is a true diamond in the rough and I highly recommend it to anyone that lives in or visiting Charleston. It is a true diamond in the rough and a really great place to take the kids. Great place to visit with the kids. Very well taken care of animals and always expanding. Impressed with the changes over the last few years. Not really that far from Charleston area. Fair prices. We don't usually do the aviary because the time isn't always enforced for that area and the little kids cant wait that long. That would be my only problem with this otherwise fantastic place to visit and spend about 3-4 hours.

This is such a fun place for kids and adults alike. Everyone put your phones down come out here and enjoy nature and some really cute/interesting animals. They also have a small air conditioned cafe area that serves chicken tenders, fries, BBQ sandwiches and pizza. And bee sure to purchase some honey, you won't be disappointed. If you have dry, cracked hands or feet pick up a jar of their bee balm, it's a little miricle in a jar!

A place mostly for kids. One finds LOTS of them running around and making lots and lots of noise. There are a lot of schools field trips at the time we were visiting. The staff is friendly. We went mainly because I love bees but the bees were way in the back and not predominant in the place. What was cool was the kangaroos, snow leopard, monkeys. The wild looking chickens walking about is also cool specially mom chickens and the little chicks running around. I would say that if you have a free 1 to 2 hours tops this is a fun place to visit. The entrance fee is 8.00 which is about right since these animals take a lot of care and its not cheap. The animals looked happy and well cared for as well as healthy. I would recomend this place.

I've been going here since I was in elementary school, I am now older and married and still love this place as much as I did when I was a kid. Bee city keeps getting better and better. It's an amazing petting zoo. I love that you can feed the animals yourself. The prices here are very good as well. You can buy jars of honey, honey sticks, etc from here. It's the best honey ever. Thank you bee city for being such a fun place to go with my family!

We had a great time. It is a unique experience. My two-year-old daughter got to feed a lemur and other small primates. You must get the food to feed the animals when you go. We ate lunch and the food was good. It was very busy and there was a little wait but the staff was working hard. They have a neat little gift shop filled with all kinds of souvenirs and lots of different uses for honey. They had honey butter and bee pollen you can buy which supposedly has health benefits. There Is a reptile house where you can hold a small alligator with help from staff. You can go into a bird aviary and if you're sweating the birds will get on you and lick your sweat. That is a one of a kind experience. I highly recommend you make the trip.

While this place is a drive outside of Charleston, it is really a whole family fun activity. My 2 year old was free so I only had to pay for my husband and I. We went with family and almost spent the whole day here. I loved the bird area since they flocked to me for some odd reason. They landed on my and started pecking at my hair and clothes. I had to be careful not to step on any since they were also on my shoes. There are so many animals to feed and see, we ran out of food to feed them all. I didn't even realize there was a whole other section to the right when you enter. We were also able to bring a cooler in after wandering around for a few hours to eat a nice lunch. I wouldn't mind coming back here again but maybe when it isn't so hot.

Bee City Zoo is a great local zoo with lots of interactive exhibits for kids. You can buy some food to feed the animals, and have a blast touching or feeding most of the animals. My kids keep asking every weekend to go back. It's also a relatively cheap option for single visits. It would be nice if they had a yearly pass option for repeat visitors.

This was our first time here. It was so much fun. Not too crowded. Being able to feed the animals it so much fun. You get to see the bees in their hive. You can actually feel the vibration of them. My daughter absolutely loves snow leopards and we've never been able to see one in the big zoos. It's just big enough to enjoy for the day but not leave you drained from so much walking. The monkey exhibits have a container connected to a pulley system so when you put food in them, the monkeys will pull on the rope to bring the container close. Food is available at the front desk and is worth the price.

I love this place! The experiences you get here are amazing. They are definitely in it for the animals. The people who work there care very much for them, even if it's not a huge state of the art zoo. The animals are well cared for, and healthy. We got to see baby goats born there as well as a baby lemur. They are constantly improving. Definitely worth a visit.

On the surface this establishment seems like a fun place, yet when you actually spend more than 10 minutes walking from enclosure to enclosure, you see things for what they really are. Animals were displaying clear signs of anxiety and stress, the mental anguish of being in a small cage or enclosure , which was nothing in comparison as to what their life should be in the wild. Why on earth a small little “zoo” like this would have a snow leopard is beyond me. I felt so sad for this beautiful creature, as he/she lay in the corner of his empty, small, mulch covered enclosure. It’s unfortunate that people think as long as you are feeding and giving water to an animal that it is happy being in a cage. This is far from the truth and needs more education and awareness to wildlife. I hope PETA steps in and does something for these exotic animals. It was also very discouraging to see that some of these animals were even for sale, which proves this is a for-profit establishment and cares nothing for educating its visitors. Also alarming to see that there was no supervision of employees while visitors were feeding animals. Anyone could come and give anything, perhaps harmful, to any of these animals, causing serious or even lethal consequences.

Love visiting this zoo! This is a mom n pop establishment and they have been making improvements and expanding their animal collection. Still lots of room for improvement! Looking forward to seeing their future growth. Great morning to spend with little kids or animal lovers of all ages. They also have a small canteen with mostly fried food and pizza, but the BBQ sandwich is one of the best in Summerville.

Love Bee City. We've been there maybe 4 times over the past couple years. They seem to be in the process of making major improvements to their zoo and general areas. The staff is amazing all except for the 1 gentleman I have run into twice that guards the bird "cage" area. That guy needs to learn better customer service.

Super cute place for small children. FYI don't go in the bird area if you've been sweating. They attack! We we're not warned about this.

Great place for everyone. Bring kids,grandkids and even the adult kids bring them all with an appetite for the good food. Also take some of the excellent honey home with you. Saturday is the best day but it is also the busiest day to stop in...... Don't forget to bring your camera with you

I love Bee City! But it is NOT handicapped or stroller friendly. Be advised there are handicapped parking spaces, but the entire place (parking lot, walkways, trails, etc.) except for the welcome center and the cafe at the other side of the property are covered in gravel! You won't get stronger wheels through there easily, and a wheelchair is damn near impossible. Please don't attempt to visit with a cane, walker, brace, crutches, etc.

I did not know that Bee city existed until my daughter came home with a permission slip for a field trip. I joined my daughter's class as a chaperone and I brought my one year old son along. My daughter and her class had an amazing time!!! I could not believe some of the animals that we're present at Bee city. It was a great trip. When it was time for lunch I visited the cafe where the staff was very friendly and chicken tenders and fries were made to order....My only complaint would be the loose rocks are not very stroller friendly..
