This is an amazing place to see different animals from different parts of the world. And it's cheap too - $10 for an adult and less for kids. I met the director, Cory, and she is a very down to earth kind person. Her and her staff have built something amazing and you should go too. 10/10 will go visit them again.

Jessica LaRose

Beautiful!! Great staff and well taken care of, happy animals!

Vickie Nichols

Great zoo (like) adventure near home.

Megan Schultz

We spent 4, very cold hours here today, and had a blast! Staff was wonderful and knowledgeable. I was afraid the animals wouldn't be active due to the cold weather, but they were just fine. Can't wait for spring to visit again. Parrot house was our favorite.

David Rhodes

Cute animal sanctuary. Smaller than expected, but a good variety of animals. Won't take longer than 90 minutes

Wolf Pack Fan

Had fun on our field trip today! Really fun experience here! If you are a dog person (like me) You will see a dog when you are at the gate! He loves belly rubs and pets! when I pet him he layed on his back and was in dog heaven! I will differently come back soon!

All the fixings for a fun afternoon. Laughing birds, giant tortoises, monkeys, kangaroos, horses, foxes, porcupines, peacocks, and on and on. And two of the sweetest old beagles. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Christopher Huddleston

This is a great place for anyone that is interested in animals. Young or old, it doesn't matter. They have some of the coolest animals and the best part is that you can interact with a good handful of them.

If you've not been here you really should go.. My husband and I took our little nephew and he loved it! Its generally open all year!

Sharon Bliss

Great place, my kids love seeing all of the animals and much less walking than the zoo.

Danielle Dean

We just spent the afternoon on the “In The Scenes” tour. John was our guide and we could not ask for a better experience!! John was so knowledgeable and you could tell how much everyone who works there loves the animals. The experiences we had with the animals were amazing, John made sure both the animals and the people felt comfortable and happy. We did nothing invasive and the animals were kept in their habitats and were free to do as they pleased. I cannot recommend this experience enough!!!

CARLOS ALMARAZ

Exotic animals !

Tashia Brittain

It was awesome! The only reason I gave 4 stars is the bird building smelled strong. I know why, but I can't do strong smells. Again, an amazing place with super nice people!

Henry Drury

Today was our third visit. We love this place! Informal setting compared to a zoo. If you aren't the hands on up close type of animal lover then you might be uncomfortable. If you are like we are, then you will love this place! The staff are great and informative. We plan to return soon! Great for a group party as well! FYI bring your lunch for the picnic area.

Laurimar R

Nice place and wonderful staff. You can feel the love that all the staff put in their animals.

anabelle periche

Free roaming dogs, cats, pigs and kangaroos. All animals looked cared for and happy. I love coming here with my family

Krista Roa

This place is so cute! We live fairly close, so I'm surprised that my son's school field trip was the first time we've been. They have a large variety of rescued animals, some of them are even available to pet. Come and support this place! They have a fantastic mission and are doing great things!

Todd Cleveland

Awesome place to visit and spend a couple hours.

T0xic seas

I loved it i never seen a real life kangaroo i know we are not allowed to touch it. It came up to me i was so scared but then it walked away i was so happy. As i continued i saw wonderful things best place to come with a family. Btw there is alot of bugs.

H. A.E.

As a small child I became acquainted with many animals. I so love every single one I have encountered thus far. This wonderful place blessed me with the recollection of those days of my youth. There is a magic to the presence of these special beasts. I would invite anyone looking for a place to reclaim the joy evoked by this experience. Take your children, they really need the experience in order to equate a value to the eco-system! If you want to disconnect from the WWW for a while, do it here. You will not regret it! I am so going back ASAP!

Awesomeship Gaming

We had a fantastic time seeing all the animals. Some even roam free, like the giant tortoise and a pig that you can go pet. The blonde with the over-bleached teeth at the entrance though is unbelievably rude, both on the phone and in person.

evin hoots

It was so much fun! You can feed animals, pet a kangaroo and so much more

Lisa Mize

It was a nice way to spend a couple hours and do something different. Most of the sanctuary is in shade so even though it's hot, it wasn't unbearable. I thought it was bigger though and that they had more animals than what we saw.

Natasha Womackpk

Great place that doesn't use animals to make money but genuinely cares about them and passionate about what they do. There are lots of animals to see, touch and learn about. Will be coming back over and over again.

Henry Tyndall

Wonderful place to visit. I highly recommend.

Colorado Martinez

It's fun but they let their kangaroos out so It is a little from

Glenda Sanner

A great experience for all! Cory and her staff are great and you won't find a bigger advocate for animals anywhere....Cory is amazing!

johnny latta

Really enjoyed the visit will go again.

Alberto Zuniga

Limited staff on hand but I believe it is because it must be based on a volunteer protocol. There was plenty of animals yo see and many of them you will not see in a zoo. You may be able to get a personal guided tour and get a one on one personal with some of the animals. My sugestion is to call ahead of time. I did enjoy the visit and my grand child as well.

CJ Wilson

Great place to immerse yourself in nature and all its wonders. Very serene and a reminder of how we're all connected. Awesome, helpful staff working hard to care for these amazing creatures and the environment. A true peace park! ❤️

Ethan Keller

The owner is good at here job

Annette Goodman

Me + my family...and all my friends i've dragged out of the house 2 experience this AMAZING + FANTASTIC animal sanctuary...ALL ❤️ this place. Felt like I got every penny worth out of my entry cost. Best $10 value that I've ever spent. New animals have arrived in past year + WE can't wait 2 come back...again...4th time!

Judy Harrell

Great place to visit everyone was happy and very nice.

michael church

Any amazing experience with a truly friendly and engaging staff. Something for every animal lover out there!

Maranda Nussbaum

Such an amazing place! My husband and I did the Sloth Experience, and it was great! We were able to pet the sloth and feed the sloth a grape. A volunteer stayed with us and gave us excellent information. A great place to go if you love animals!

Jenn Moore

Amazing tour today! John was so knowledgeable about all of the animals and patient with all of our questions. You can tell they really care about all of the animals. I owe him so much for saving my phone from the mischievous monkey who was quick, but not as quick as John thank goodness! It reminds us that even though they may be tame, they are still wild animals. Betsy the sloth is the most majestic creature on the planet and my favorite animal in the world. Jalepeno would have been our new pet if my boyfriend had it his way. This is an experience we will never forget. Thank you so much Animal Edventures, we will be back soon!

lindsay doctor

Had a great time. A little tip is to wear bug spray and you will be all good to go. :)

Christopher Briere

What a great little hideaway that is fun for all ages. Good for family animal adventures while supporting humanely.... fun fun, waich out for Kangaroo suprises. Hehehe

Chris Pergola

Good family fun, lots of roaming animals and dedicated workers. They even have a kangaroo!

Toby Goodlock

Love going here, so many animals to see.

Delinda Morehead

Awesome experience. Everyone needs to go. So much to see and learn. And hands on opportunities.

Molly Lenore

This was our first trip here today and we loved it :) Plenty of room to park, lots of animals! We saw a camel, 2 hogs, a few dogs and cats, lots of turtles, lizards, and snakes, lots of birds as well.. too many to list! All of the employees were really kind and the animals all looked happy and healthy. The gift shop was really cool too, they even had some cool crystal geodes for only $5 in there! We will definitely visit again sometime soon.

Nolan K. Knittle

Wonderful place, wonderful staff and owner!

Marsha Stephenson

My family & I had the BEST time at this little zoo! I was so impressed with the care and concern the owner is taking with all these animals. We were really surprised with the variety of animals there. We'll definitely be visiting again. I highly recommend!

Meghan Billings

So much fun! Loved seeing the kangaroos and feeding the camel. So many animals to see. We easily spent 3 hours there and could have stayed longer. The owner is very friendly and knowledgable. She genuinely cares for the animals.

kashmere steele

Really cool place with lots of different animals, even a few you can touch. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. You definitely get your money's worth!

Elisabeth Handgraaf

We are from out of town and we're visiting relatives in Greensboro. We found out about this place and decided to visit. TOTALLY WORTH IT! We really enjoyed our time here! You can't argue with the price - they could be asking for more to help with their great cause. We paid the extra for the sloth and monkey experience and it was worth it. The staff are very knowledgeable, polite, and truly care for the well being of the animals there. They answer all questions and seem to love being there. I have always LOVED sloths and it was a dream come true to meet Betsy! It was a day I will never forget! I wish they were closer to where we are from! Thank you to all of you at Animal Ed.ventures!

Crystal Pendley

Went with my daughter on her field trip and we had so much fun. We will definitely go again.

Lise Keppler

Amazingly diverse collection of animals that all seem very happy and healthy. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. One taught us how to make the kookaburra laugh! Bring bug repellent during mosquito season. Don't miss the bird house--it's fascinating--but watch out for the cockatoos who like shoelaces. They can sneak up on you! Bring the kids and prepare to have a wonderful time.

Jill Clarkson

Amazing place to take your family!! Staff is very friendly. Make sure you visit Jalepeno in the bird sanctuary!

Bonnie McAtee

Doing a needed work with rescue. Staff very friendly. Clean. It could use more funds.

One Day At a TIme Mental Freedom

Loved it!!!!' I took my daughters there today, and the staff was amazing. It is a large amount of animals you can interact with. It is worth every moment!

Elizabeth Stanciu

We had a good time. Some of the animals are loose, like the kangaroos, dogs, peacocks, some of the birds, so you can right up close to them. The animals seemed well cared for and friendly. Some of the areas seemed a little run down, but all was in good working order.

angela anthony

All the animals looked well care for and fed. It's only a dollar to feed the goat's and the camel. The price is very affordable for a family of 4 on offer up. The only issue i had was mosquitos. Its very bad out there. So put some insect repellant on before heading out there. I hope that one day they can make this place bigger so the( monkeys, foxs and etc) animal can be in a larger environment.

MT Doll

My SO LOVES sloths. We brought the kids and got her the sloth experience. The kids had a blast! She got to feed the sloth and give it butt scratches. We will be back for the fox and monkey experience.

Lisa Kelley

The staff were very knowledgeable and caring We enjoyed our visit

chris hodgson

So much fun! Great for kids too!

Aseel Aboosi

This is very amused place for kids and families Everything is nice and the staff very friendly Thank you

Janelle Fenlason

Went on a field trip and had fun. The kids loved it.

Paula Coffman

Nice little animal sanctuary. Offers hands on experiences with animals. Educational and fun. Made for a nice day out

Lindsey Hodge

My husband brought me here to feed the sloth because I've never seen one before. While I thought I would feel excited all day long, I left this sanctuary feeling awful. These rescue animals are kept in tiny cages or fenced areas that aren't maintained. Most of the animals seem to respond to human contact in a negative way, which is probably their response to their quality of life. The cage specifically for the Cuckaborough (a bird) also had ELEVEN TORTOISES on the ground. The cage was maybe 10 ft tall, 6 ft wide, and 3 ft deep. I don't understand how this place is open.

First of all, this ain't the Asheboro Zoo - that's not a good or bad thing. It's the rural home site of a successful small business, where said business owners allow you to roam within feet of their personal dwelling to gawk at their vast array of pets inside of their creatively designed home made sanctuaries. We traveled about 90 miles one way and it was totally worth it. You might also be accosted by tame, free roaming turtles and pigs, and of course a few cats and dogs. We took our time and spent about 2 hours there. Be sure and walk through the bamboo forest!

Sara Ronan

Haley and Animal Edventures are amazing!

mon cheri kirby

People were very friendly You can tell animals were well taken care of . Teddy was my favorite he is a monkey.Oh and the Camel and horses and goats and birds and The beautiful white peacocks and pot belly pig and so much more and the hound dogs So much to seeAnd THe Kangaroos

Gregory Wood

It was really great! My family had so much fun. The two kangaroos greeted us. Many different types of animals and the staff were all really friendly. I would recommend this for anyone especially with little ones.

RathanDev S

Even though it's a small place with limited birds and animal we really enjoyed it a lot especially kids will love to visit and play with birds

Sherrell Davis

This is my 2nd time here. I've been both times on a field trip. The owner is very friendly and you can tell she has a passion for each animal. They have sooo many animals from many places. The staff/volunteers are very knowledgeable. My students are thrilled each time about seeing unique animals. O actually got to feed a baby kangaroo! We will be back!

Charlene Clarkson

My grandson is a reptile lover so we decided to check out Animal Edventures. He's been to so many exhibits and lives very close to and visits the Denver zoo often so we didn't really expect too much from this little place in Coats, boy were we surprised! What a wonderful place. Many interesting animals, very informative and patient staff. They took the animals that were safe to handle out so the the kids could get close up and touch them, he loved that. We planned on staying an hour and ended up being there for 3, and he still didn't want to leave! Thanks for a great edventure!

Jay Hall

3 year old daughter loved it, she has asked to return nearly everyday since our visit. Will be going back with friends and family soon

Adam Provenzano

Very interesting place and friendly staff. Worth the 10 dollar admission.

Marcus Green

Had fun watching the two free roaming adolescence.

Deanna Rolfing

Definitely not something you'd expect in that rural area

Mindy DeLuca

John did the BEST job with our “sloth experience” and “capuchin experience”. He is one of the reasons we would go back, and one of the biggest reasons we recommend this excursion/expense. As for the other representatives milling around, I won’t comment because it wouldn’t be positive. John, please continue to be as helpful, engaging, articulate and professional as you are! It’s appreciated and recognized by those who spend their hard-earned money at Animal Edventures. I miss the “old days” when we were made to feel like welcome guests there; you’re the only one who did so on the day we visited. Thank you!!!!

Ta Ho

What a pleasant surprise. This was a spur of the moment, "something to do" for a few hours when a family member showed up for a day as he was passing through Clayton, NC. I'm so glad we went. Even though the weather was on the dreary side all of us really, really, enjoyed ourselves. We had no young children with us which gave us time to slowly wander around and engage with the staff who answered all of our questions with detail.

Rhonda BZ

Such a lovely little homegrown rescue and education sanctuary! The volunteers really care for the animals and do a good job of imparting their knowledge.

Debbie M

We loved the experience. Feeding the animals was special and my daughter loved having the birds perch on her arm.

Daniel Peterson

Beautiful place and they are doing a wonderful thing to help the animals.

Vida Horsfield

We enjoyed seeing the animals at this place, some roaming around. Who would expect a kangaroo to be host bopping around? We saw two doing just that. We'll shaded and cared for array of wild and domestic animals. Well go back when in the area again.

D&B Productions

Place was amazing and animals and staff were very friendly and allows you to roam around.

Elizabeth Cielo

AMAZING EXPERIENCE. The sweetest staff and owners take care of a large variety of animals. I was amazed by all of the animals, they all look healthy, clean, and happy. Took my 3 year old and he had a blast and so did I! There were free range pigs, cats, dogs, kangaroos. They were used to humans and very friendly. Their horses are beautiful and the exotic birds are stunning. Highly recommend visiting!! And to the owners/staff, thank you for taking such great care of your animals. I can really tell that you love them. The world needs more people like you all!

Nanette Jimenez

I really love this place! It's not a zoo, NOTHING commercial, it's someone's huge home/land providing a sanctuary/natural habitat for special animals. Very relaxed atmosphere and everyone there hangs out with you, tells stories and educate you about the animals and how they got there! No frills, just natural environment. Will definitely return next time I visit with my granddaughter again, she fell in love with it too!

Juan Yepes

Such a magical place! You can tell they really care for their animals. All looked happy and healthy and well fed! Staff was very friendly and informative. Can't wait to come back with friends.

Camilla Antoine

This is a lovely place to take your kids to see and interact with animals. Especially animals you don't see everywhere! The staff is very welcoming and super nice. We were there for 3 hours and my kids loved it! !!

This sanctuary is absolutely wonderful! We were greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic woman as soon as we were inside the gate, soon followed by two kangaroos! It's very large and has a very diverse population of all walks of life. We enjoyed every minute of our visit and will definitely be back in the fall!

Brandon Kimbrough

Great place to go to learn about some exotic animals. My little guy had a blast exploring this place!

matthew pedone

This was a great time with my family! We got to feed a sloth!!

Tara Giles

Wonderful staff, great animals. Highly recommend

Elizabeth Barnett

Go if you are nearby. We had a delightful afternoon. Not much else to do in area and I found this on trip advisor

J B

This place is fantastic!!! We splurged for the sloth encounter and it was well worth it. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and there are SO many cool animals to see! Cannot recommend this sanctuary highly enough!

David C. Miller

We've been to many wildlife venues... but this place is very special - for a number of reasons..... 1.) You can go on Groupon and get $20.00 for $15.00. Very affordable for families or others on a budget. 2.) This sanctuary takes in ALL sorts of distressed animals. From a very cool sloth, to rare foxes, birds etc. It has a LOT to offer in a manageable area, especially easy for kids to roam, without having a expansive zoo to negotiate around. 3.) There is staff throughout the sanctuary, which are working, but will answer any questions you may have. If you go to the herpetology exhibit (enclosure) you can see some amazing snakes, turtles, gila monsters etc. There is young man who specializes in these creatures. Ask for Kanyon! He is only 15, but we think he more like 35. He knows a LOT !! 4.) There is an amazing amount diversity. Enough to keep you occupied for 3 hours or so. Kids will love it (and older folks too!) 5.) Many animals roam about free; Kangaroos (2) peacocks, dogs, etc. for a cheap $1.00, you can feed a pretty chummy camel, goats, pigs. If you want a fun inexpensive day trip, we highly recommend visiting here. The owner, Corey is about the property and will share how she purchased the property .. and runs it on a shoe-string budget. One issue we had, is a lot of signage is missing. We wanted to know the names of animals in the enclosures, what country they are from etc.. but there was a noticeable lack of these. We asked Corey about this and was told hurricane Florence did a lot of damage. She had someone to do administrative tasks, such a making signs but she left suddenly. All in all, a good way to spend a few hours .....

Wanda Norris

Love it.

Kory Hopkins

It was one of the smaller animal parks where you are allowed to get up and close to the animals. The staff we talked with was very nice and friendly. The sloth encounter was very awesome, we we're able to get great pictures.

Peter nemmers

Got the "behind the scenes" experience and had an amazing time with my girlfriend.

Grace Velez

Great place and great staff. It looks like all the animals all well taken care of. The parrots were my favorites one of them says hello and another one says cracker! They are hilarious!

Adri A

Is kinda small but very nice place. Although the animals need a bigger enclosure they look healthy and well taken care of.

Trisha O'Brien-Briere

Fun place to look at rescue animals and some are roaming free! thanks

Scottlee Peterson

Animal Ed-Ventures takes great care of their animals. We had an awesome time! Good for families and animal enthusiasts alike. Reasonable pricing and a wide range of exotic animals like Servals, Hairless Guinea Pigs, a Kokuboro, Foxes, an Aviary House, Kangaroos, a Camel, a Capuchin Monkey, a Coatimundi, and a Reptile house. They even have an anteater!

kit kat

It's so mean the animals look so sad don't go there

Bugs Subu

Beautiful little small business with hardworking folks who have taken it as their life mission to rescue exotic animals- great entertainment for children and adults alike. The camel was very entertaining! Well-maintained grounds and friendly staff!

Amy Smith

This place is very neat! I go visit every few months. All animals are rescues and all cohabitat well together!

Jennifer Haggerty

Had a Great time today. Packed a lunch and enjoyed all the animals. Great rescue zoo. Staff and owners are on site and answer all questions you have about any animal...loved my visit and will return with my grandchildren...Really just a really great rescue zoo...

Cory Freeman

I am guessing that Lindsey Hodge did not have a good time because she didn't really try to glean an understanding rather than react to a primary assumption - Sadly, not uncommon in our world today. I am very familiar with this sanctuary and it is a kind loving and diligent group of women that run it! IF the true reason for her visit as well as her concern for the welfare of the animals was true and just why wouldn't she alert a staff member or ASK a question?? there are a number of animals indoors in smaller TEMPORARY housing because it has been WINTER for the last 4 months and at any time if there were to be a power outage, (or a splash of rain on a hot bulb), and they were outside and lost their heat they could DIE. The staff there works tirelessly and endlessly for the betterment of animals that, through no fault of their own but the fault of humans, are relegated to LIFE in a cage. Perhaps Lindsey, you would like to step up and donate to this NON-PROFIT SANCTUARY and help expedite all the upgrades waiting in the wings?? As is so common in today's society it is easy, rather than look someone in the eye and be genuine (and maybe compassionate), to hide behind a screen and feel powerful - but its a facade... true power - value - comes in action propelled by actual knowledge, understanding, and a truly loving heart. Its sad that Lindsey did not enjoy herself there when one real conversation eye to eye, heart to heart may have shown her the magic in the soul. there are animals there that were rescued from deplorable conditions as well as animals with loving owners that, in a time of need, came, saw, poured their hearts out, and CHOSE this loving place... People at the sanctuary are always willing to share details of the challenges, the truths, the struggles, the prayers, and most importantly the LOVE - JUST ASK

Shannon Nonnahs

Love this place! The animals are well taken care of. The staff are amazing and knowledgeable. I bring my toddlers here they love it.

K Hall

I wasn't sure what to expect when we pulled up, but this ended up being a really pleasant afternoon! This appears to be a residence turned sanctuary. There was a playground that my daughter really enjoyed and several very friendly animals that are walking around to interact with!

Adaptive Nourishment

We had a great time! They have a lot of different exotic animals. Some you can touch and some you can't. My favorite part was where they explained how they choose the diets for each animal species and how much research they put into it. As a person with this area of expertise in diets of animals in captivity, I was more than pleased to see how much knowledge and care they put into each of their animals diets. Awesome experience!

Angela Peters

Such an amazing place I love what they do for the animals. Return visitors

Ray Parker

Lots of interesting animals. The people here are doing great work.

Jim Gurney

More people should find out about this hidden Jewel

Tina Durden

Love this place. Have ALOT more animal. If your trying to have a great time with your kids, family members, friend..etc. This is a great way to make memories. Wanted to enjoy the moments with my daughter. Could have taken alot more photos but It was about the time spent and enjoying the animals.

Jessica Orwiler

Uh.may.zing. Amazing. So cool! They were so nice, and there is a fantastic selection of animals.

Lydia Tart

The staff are friendly. You can feed a sloth, hold hands with a little monkey named Teddy and feed two bat eared foxes by hand. Oh and the camel was my husband's favorite. We had a blast!! Will be going back.

Becky Gurney
