Visit the Shark Exhibit during the first Sea Lion Show, you will thank me later.

Optimist Pharmamama

Fun! Went her with my daughter's 3rd grade school trip. Everyone had a blast. Sharks, penguins, coral reefs, colorful fishes and so much more. It was fun for all. Ended the day with some desert. Yum!

Sharon Chavis

The New York Aquarium at Coney Island is educational, inspirational and plain fun for all. Every family member will find something that will have them fascinated with the ocean. Word of warning: the sea lion show is 15 minutes. You wait in line longer. They are over priced on the food and drinks.

Caesar Castillo

They have big and very interesting exhibits. Well worth it.

Navin Brohier

Really really nice aquarium. The shark exhibit is really great and the sea lion show was very fun! I love places like this, they are so much fun. Very worth the $20 adult ticket. A wonderful aquarium, I'd definitely visit again.

Mike Steevens

AWEEESOME place & Stephanie is an awesome Sea Lion trainer & nice person 2 talk 2. I really loved the Shark exhibit & we saw staff in the 1st fish tank scuba diving & cleaning up the tank

Peter Thompson

We hadn't gone to the Aquarium in many years so we decided to visit. We were not disappointed, and in fact,we were pleasantly surprised to see the changes at the New York Aquarium. The exhibition of the fish and various aquatic life with information placards was very good. The shark building was the best by far with a modern edgy architectural aesthetic inside and out and great water tank displays like the overhead tank. The variety of sea life on display was more varied than I remembered too. There is a bistro-like eatery on top of the shark building with a beautiful view of the beach. We ordered fries(which were actually pretty good)but their other menu items looked good too. There are several other attractions that look enticing but we'll visit soon to see those.A visit to New York Aquarium is a great way to spend the afternoon with your children.

Denise Laing

Although they aren't where they were before Sandy hit its still a great place to spend time with the kids. My son loves the new shark exhibit and the educational stations they have set up throughout. I can't wait to see how much better it will be when all of the exhibits are restored and opened.

Maria Zouloufis

I found this aquarium to be extremely disappointing. Very few exhibits and a lackluster sea lion show. No invertebrates. Lots of we are building signs but mundane at best. It is a tragedy how much they charge to get I. Years ago it was a fabulous experience. I doubt I will ever go back there.

cui jingyu

Lovely aquarium. The sharks are amazing! I visit this aquarium and coney island beach at the same time.

Algenis Guerrero

I've been coming to this place since 15 years old and let me tell you that after hurricane Sandy it was very bad however after renovation this place is getting better and better everytime I go. The shark section AMAZING!! Also don't forget the rooftop restaurant.

vineeta rao

Best fun place for kids . My kids are so crazy for sharks and he loved the tunnel in the shark tank and loved ti watch the sharks. The sea lions show is fun and kids enjoyed a lot . Over all a nice weekend trip with kids family and friends and evening enjoy the beach which just few steps away from the aquarium.

Road runnner

Excellent time today with my 5 yr old he loved it and so did I as the parent the renovations are complete the place is beautiful especially the shark attractions . I recommend coming during off peak days to get the full affect of everything. Outstanding

Robert Higbee

Lots of fun. The indoor tanks are meticulously cared for featuring coral they grow themselves. The 4D shark movie was lots of fun too. We missed out on the outdoor exhibits due to rain. The exterior of one of the buildings has a rather unique surface made up of tiny hinged stainless steel plates that move with the wind creating flowing wind sculptures.

Virgin Martinez

They need more staff. Saw big fish but the tanks seemed way too small for ALOT of them. I'm no expert but it looks like they're are only allowing the bare minimum on space. Didn't realize half the place would also be closed. (Was much better 10 years ago) Hate to say we won't be visiting this one again.

Tokendra Magar

Good for educational purposes. So much interesting underwater creatures. Love that

Janelle Olmeda

Small for the price but cute and lots of variety of fishes. Parking should be cheaper with the size/reconstruction, I suggest paying the same amount of money in a outdoor lot and then just walking a block or 2 to the aquarium cause that one set price is for all day parking vs hourly at the aquarium. The new shark building is nice though wish it went up higher instead of just being a restaurant attraction outside. More construction in the building next to it for a playquarium or something. For NY I'm shocked there isn't a big place like Baltimore's.

Craig Wing

The new shark tank is the best in the world. Amazing, you walk through the middle of the tank. Great.

Nese

I brung my kids here and they absolutely loved this place. They loved the sharks that was one of the main attractions they wanted to see. They were amazed how big most of the fishes were. My kids ask me everyday if I could bring them back. The tickets are very reasonable I will definitely be bringing them back soon

Paola Melendez

Great place but please PLEASE put your camera down! Just enjoy the sights and move along especially if crowded.

Mel Yambo

Love the shark tanks and the sea lion show is not only educational but it will also make you laugh. Great time at the aquarium. My favorite the loggerhead turtles!!!

Avi Serber

I was gifted a behind the scenes tour of the new shark exhibit. Totally worth it. Our guides were amazing.

Nadia Naim

It was nice, but does get packed a lot of screaming people. My main issue was, several of the tanks didn't show all the names of the different fish or they the tags with info were out of date cause they switched who was in an exhibit. I was there as part of an event for my company's summer outing & while the food was great, it was taken away an hour before our event was supposed to end, which they made no announcement about which was rather rude!

Pam C

Wish there was more to see. I missed the show but it is ok. The room with the glass dome was cool to have sharks and other fish swimming by.

Karima Bajana

This place is amazing! Support the Aquarium they are doing wonderful things. Check out my behind the scenes photos.

Rebecca Roberts

This experience was definitely not worth the price. There was basically three small exhibits total with few specimens that were pretty much hidden the entire time. The place was extremely packed with tons of parents and children making it even harder to see anything or navigate your way through the aquarium. For small children I think this is an ok place to go. For anyone else I would take a hard pass.

David A

Awesome! Great place to go when your bored and want to look at some fish. Even though part of the park is closed this is still a cool place to go with kids and younger siblings.

Jime G.O

Too expensive for such a small place. Audition facilities and earplugs for people with disabilities should be available and more obvious throughout the whole tour and not in some discrete corners of the building. With so much noise and activity, I can easily see someone having a meltdown.

Zërø The üñdëæd

Really great place to take children so they can learn about the sea

Alba King

Great new exhibits after hurricane Sandy reconstruction. Can't wait to see the new exhibits that are scheduled to open. WCS loves animals and it shows ❤

Jacqui Lang

Great aquarium. Lots of fun and right next to Coney Island.

M T

Great place to relax and you always seem to learn something new about the creatures you've probably seen lots of times. Always exciting to see the colorful selections of fish, amusing to watch the cute penguins, and the seal show is definitely worth seeing. Aside from this, their mission of conservation is quite admirable and the education of the public about these issues is highly necessary in an age where wildlife populations are constantly threatened. The aquarium is a place worth supporting.

Bram Avontuur

The shark tunnel is a really cool addition to the aquarium, and will be a big hit with the kids. They also have 2 large sea turtles of respectable age. They don't alwas show themselves, but they did on our last visit and it was awe-inspiring. Employees were very nice and knowledgeable.

Hipolito Romero

Great place to spend some time if you are not a beach goer. Still under renovations but the crowds are not overwhelming. 4D movie is currently included with entry.

Lulu Azran

It was awesome!!! Long line outside but can be accepted on a Sunday afternoon. The new Shark exhibit is really cool and the sea lion show was wonderful and educational. Kids (and I lol) had a great time.

Esteban Alonso Ramírez

A lovely, lovely experience. The shark tanks are among the most impressive experience I ever had in a zoo or aquarium. Super educational and very cleverly distributed. We also had the chance to watch the Conney Island fireworks, as it was a Friday night in July. Totally recommended.

Anusha Kumar

Awesome experience. For a short trip as family we can have fun.. we can have a long walk at Cooney island. Nice view

David Dalton

Wish it was bigger. Great experience. I've been in Brooklyn 14 yrs and this was my 1st time and it was awesome. Very family friendly. My nephew had an amazing time. Hope the expand but can't wait to go back.

June Daye

I find every aquarium amazing. I am a big ocean life enthusiastic and coming here after renovations was an exciting day for me. Saw beautiful and cool things. Although they can add some more cool things, I will come again next time in Coney Island.

AAron OOman

Totally awesome. Paid a little more than half price(military discount), but would gladly pay regular rate. Beautiful, entertaining, educational, relaxing, etc. Plus, it's at "Coney Island" and a short walk from "Nathan's" world famous frankfurters..."Come on man".

A A

Great place for children. The tunnel is lots of fun.

Fasutino Pichardo

It's been years since I've been to NY Aquarium. Its definitely for kids, I was bored and finished the park within the hour. That part of Brooklyn is falling apart as well. I love sea life and was absolutely disappointed, it was lacking. Sorry

A BENJAMIN

I'm from NY.. Love the Aquarium. Took my baby boy we had a blast.

joyan tharakan

Beautiful view and fun to go with kids.. shows are amazing too.. can get bit too crowded, however it's totally worth it..

Tespat

The aquarium was awesome the only problem I had is that they didn't have any whale sharks and that the 4d show didn't include the goblin shark. But besides that it was amazing and I definitely recommend it

Will See

Disappointing to see spay painted coral, thick brow growth covering everything in the first big tank. The fish were great to see in the bigger tanks, but the turtles we're depressing to see in that tank. When we got to tanks that looked better, as in not that thick brown algae-like coated growth on everything, it was all cheap faked spray painted and not even using appropriate colors and cheap-looking fake soft corals and plants. Education? Very limited fish identifiers on the tanks. The attempt to build a more natural-looking environment got lost between watching cartoons and a visit to a dollar store. I'm a diver, and I've also visited many aquariums, this one needs new directors.

NYC NYC

It's a class trip for my daughter's school. The kids had a great time seeing the difference in animals and the importance of our ecosystem. They loved the great big white sharks. The only disappointment is the cancellation of the sea lion show due to the rainy weather. Overall a wonderful experience.

Jonita Adams

Awesome place for the family to visit!! It has come a long way from what it was before the damage from Hurricane Sandy!! The Shark exhibit was huge!! Definitely worth the visit!!

sakura pink

Good selection of sea animals but I wish there could be more! There were sharks and sea horses and many other fishes including fake skeletons of diffrent types of sharks! They are working on opening more places there!

Lauren Valme

Fun,some things were interactive, and just all around a learning experience. But if you want to get in to the parking you must go early especially during the summer

Roger O'Connor

I really like aquariums so checked this one out. The layout was non intuitive and a lot of things under construction (opening soon) and very busy so it was just ok. The 4D theater was fun though. A lot of people did it twice back to back (I almost did too). I bought a membership so will be back.

Gianni Watts

The aquarium is always a fun place to visit. It's great for families or a group of friends. Admission is free after three pm on Wednesdays. The jellyfish exhibit soon to open, and the new shark exhibit is spectacular. My personal favorite is the sea lion show in the Aquatheater.

•Soft Girl Hours•

It’s actually better than I than I thought it would be I love the maze that they have and the little 3D experience they have it’s pretty cool and scary. And if you go to the show that’s outside with the seals it’s actually really cool how smart the seals are, it also tells you about the plastic that’s in the water and other information about how we affect habitats for the fish.

James Walker

The New York Aquarium is definitely the place you must visit!I was there several times, and every visit was incredible and worthy for me.The aquarium size is enormous, the variety of species is big. It takes me 3-4 hours to visit all the aquariums and rooms.

shlomo enden

Was a perfect outing for our family. The kids loved the show and the exhibits. We spent 3 hours there and covered everything including the shark 4D.

Lea Cenname

this was a great place to spend a few hours. They even have half priced after 6:00 I believe. And great time to go with your family.

Eva McElhearn

I like how they renovated the sharks' exhibit, although there are just a few small sharks there. Haven't been to the aquarium for may be 5 years. It looked smaller. The sea lion's show was only 10 min long and they didn't show much tricks (was mostly talking). Many of the animals are no longer there. Too sad. They had quests for kids, which is pretty cool. Makes you go around the whole place and teach the kids things. Everywhere they talked about how important is to decrease plastic consumption but the gift shop was full with plastic toys, not to mention that the stuffed animals had at least 3 plastic tags.

Guy Kuperman

Just a buetiful place for kids and parents alike. Loved the shark experience and the Hudson habitat.

Grace Kelly

Took my class on a field trip and they were done in about an hour. The outdoor lunch facilities were not equipped for 75 students. There weren't enough chairs and the area smelled like urine. For all of the new displays it just isn't set up for large groups. The best thing is the seal show but it was only 15min long.

Kaela Sweeney

I went to the New York Aquarium for the first time a few weeks ago. It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. There’s so much to see including an entire building dedicated to sharks. If you don’t like fish as much as I do you may no like it but I already want to go again.

Natalia Mantini

The shark exhibit just make you say wow at every sight. Bar on the roof nice too. But the rest of the place is run down unfortunately

Sujju Prasad

layout of the park is very clustered.. .. the Sea lion show was fantastic.. Just one food store available on the day we went.. Definitely NOT upto par with the likes of Dubai.. Sydney... aquarium experiences

JV Young

Great location, ample parking with reasonable admission prices, but the exhibits could be better taken care of. The outside habitats are ok but there aren't a lot of animals t see and the viewing glass for the tanks could use good cleaning especially for the sea turtles and otters. The animal presenters and experts put on good and informative programs but there should be more of them. The choice of concessions is very limited, although the boardwalk isn't far from it and the rooftop bar is pretty good. All in all, the experience is great for children of all ages but you can see everything in a couple of hours. The Spineless exhibit should be great when it eventually opens.

Brandon Doyle

This quaint aquarium is almost completely resurrected after hurricane Sandy's devastation, and it's location makes for an easy walk to Coney Island beach and boardwalk afterwards. Penguins, seals, sea loins, sharks and fish, etc. ranging from regional to African, saltwater and freshwater, will keep the kids entertained and impress adults. There are also a couple of sea turtles. The sea lion show is a must see. Snack and meal options are available with ample seating if visitors desire to eat at the zoo instead of the boardwalk. There are enough restrooms and water fountains across the grounds and AC to endure the heat.

Jennifer Valentin

Beautiful displays of sea life. Sea lion show was cute. But it doesn't matter what day you go be prepared to deal with children, lots of them.

Lucais Horsley

New York Aquarium’s extraordinary Ocean Wonder: Sharks! will replace your fear of sharks w/ love & admiration. The 57,500-square-foot building holds 784,000 gallons of water, where 12 species of sharks and six species of skates and rays swim amid 115 other species of marine life. In its detailed, compelling presentations, the Aquarium doesn’t deny that many sharks R apex predators, routinely capable of wiping out a school of fish and swimming on serenely. But that’s part of the point: apex predators are crucial to the balance of nature, helping maintain coral reef habitats and ensuring the species diversity that’s crucial to a healthy ecosystem.

Davis D. Janowski

Really enjoyed a cool visit on a mostly cloudy day in November—high in the 40s F—meant no crowds. Being a native Floridian with a great deal of diving experience it was wonderful to see so many of the species I know so well from the northern Gulf of Mexico, from Sheepshead, to yellowtail snapper, to hognose snapper and sandbar sharks. The highlight of the live creatures for me was to see the sturgeon. So ugly and ancient that they are beautiful. It also reminded me of the most startling encounter I've had paddling my kayaks on the Hudson. Down between the Battery and the Statue of Liberty 10 years ago a six-foot sturgeon breached, and splashed just a few feet from me. I jumped out of my skin. Also, I actually really enjoyed the outdoor display of the Beebe and Barton bathysphere, something I read about as a kid. Our kids, of course enjoyed all the fish but got most excited by watching the seals, sea lion (and sea lion show), as well as the feeding of the sea otters and penguins. Good to see the aquarium making a comeback after Sandy.

iicrystal_phoenixii

The new shark building is very neat. The facts are very educating. The tanks were organized nicely. I enjoyed how the tanks were decorated and filled with animals that would be found in that area. The sea lion show was very nice, teaching people not to litter and to recycle which was a very good way of spreading awareness. Overall I liked the aquarium and would come back many times.

raygan hamilton

Wonderful experience! Visited on a Saturday afternoon, everyone moved through at a good pace! Shark Encounter was AMAZING! Very interesting and educational! Fun for all ages! When exiting the subway, take a RIGHT to go to the NY Aquarium/Coney Island or you will walk around a long, block.

Nancy Santiago

I love it but won't be coming back for a few years. It's very expensive. It's no longer a place for the poor and that's a shame. Adult are 29.99 kids are 24.99. It's sad that parents that work but has a low income would have to choose between feeding their children or taking them to the beautiful Aquarium.

Daniel Warren

Stopped here on a nice October day and had a good time. The shark exhibit is as nice as any I've seen, and they are in the process of building some other new exhibits. A few of parts of the campus are needing fixed up, but overall it was clean and well maintained. If you like visiting major aquariums I think you'll have a nice time.

momo rico

Great shark exhibit. Looking foward to when they add more exciting things. Kinda getting bored seeing the same old stuff. Still i thank all the aquarium staff for their great work and effort.

Frances Halpern

Pay what you wish Wednesday 3pm-4pm. Park closes at 6 pm. 30 minute sealion show. Shark tank tunnel for people to walk through. Jurassic Park dinosaur outside and in front of the theater. Large turtles and large fishes.

Mitchell Woo

A great afternoon of aquatic exhibits. Much improved from immediately post-Sandy, but still needs more to recover. Staff is knowledgable, upbeat, friendly.

dina n

The aquarium has gone through a lot of construction since the damage of hurricane Sandy. The new Shark building is just amazing. You can walk through a clear tunnel with fish and sharks all around you. There is still a lot of work to be done, however it is well worth a visit. There is a parking lot, but parking is pricey. If possible, use public transportation to get there

USAF Bulldog

Not a bad place just needs a little upkeep on the aquariums (some were over grown with algae). Only good for a 3 hour visit and one of the areas was close for remolding.

Daniel Rodriguez

Too much fun, too much to see by yourself, bring a friend, bring your family. You can see the Whales, the performing seals, the singing and acting aquarium staff. Being at the aquarium will make you young again as you walk around enjoying the undersea view of God’s creation. After you’ve perused the undersea then it’s time to walk to the Coney Island beach take off your shoes and enjoy the sound of the pounding surf and the sand on your feet. Enjoy the day.

Justice Thomson

It's a nice establishment although there aren't as many attractions. The sea lion show is probably the best thing. It is free as long as you posted to enter.

Sal

Really nice place. Staff puts on good shows. Parking lot is great if you get there early.

Linette Stevens

Small for an aquarium, but perfect size if you're spending time at other attractions on the boardwalk too. I have 4 kids and we were done in about an hour, including the sea lion show. Rather pricey for not much to see while there.

Jean Phillipe

Great place to visit and take your kids. Took 1 star off for cleanliness but overall great value.

Linda MYOB

Great place. Opening new exhibitions soon. A lot to offer for a small aquarium. Delicious sit down diner above the beach. Just needs a sign when the restaurant closes before you trek up.

raquel ponce

The Aquarium was amazing. We were greeted with a tote and breakfast before our shark experience. We even got to touch a few sharks!!!!

cynthia benjamin

What a fun day trip spot! My family and I loved the aquarium, especially the penguins, sea lion show, and the exhibit Ocean Wonders: Sharks! We have been to countless aquariums and museums, this one is not very big, but it was well worth the trip. A major plus is that it's right off of the boarwalk, and a 3 minute walk from Coney's Cones which has awesome gelato.

Julie Barreto

Good place for toddlers and kids. The attraction is the Shark tunk. The love it and enjoy to see the different fish and sharks. Highly recommend it.

volkan tuncer

It closes early during the day pleases check their schedule before you arrive.

Junkmail Tram

The new Reef Encounters exhibit that was opened last year after Superstorm Sandy devastated the aquarium is stunning. You feel like you're actually under the ocean scuba diving with the rays, sharks anemones, millions of smaller fish and a big loggerhead turtle swimming all around you from floor to ceiling. The spiral ramp encircling the reef building provides breathtaking views of the shoreline without leaving the aquarium premises. Outdoor open exhibits with sea otters, penguins and sea lions as well as a live aquarium show are fun too. Parking is very limited as are lunch tables.. If you're already a Bronx Zoo Legacy member, admission and 3 hr parking are free. Unfortunately, the exhibits with the touch tanks and jellyfish are still under renovation and the beluga whale and walrus exhibits of the past are gone, consequently, I am reserving my 5 star rating for the fully open aquarium. Its still an amazing place to visit with the family.

Francesco la rocca

Great Aquarium , not too big . Perfect for nice time with family

Andrey Aleksyeenko

The prices are just ridiculous, OK i understand adults BUT FOR KIDS $30 IS JUST OVERRATED. Its cheaper for us to travel abroad, Italy for example, where the country really cares about kids and dont charge kids under 13 ANYTHING, literally, travel or any attractions. Well this is what we do, last year we visited Aquarium in Turkey BEST Aquarium EVER - They charge 50+- Turkish Lira, approx. 10$. Service and Crowd is better too ")

Kelly Sherman

Not the biggest Coney Island fan so wasn't sure what to expect with the vibe of the Aquarium and I loved it, it definitely overdelivered on my expectations. The shark exhibit is amazing and it's worth a trip just for that. I saw advice in another review to time your tour of the shark exhibit while most everyone else is at the sea lion show and that was some wise advice that I wholeheartedly pass along. There's also an outdoor cafe/bar on the top of the shark exhibit with an amazing view of the ocean that I completely stumbled across by accident and am so thankful I did. The only "sad aquarium" moment was a very clearly ancient outdoor tank with giant sea turtles in it which I have to assume will be updated soon to keep up with the rest of the exhibits.

Willy Spence

Wonderful experience! Visited on a Saturday afternoon, everyone moved through at a good pace! Shark Encounter was AMAZING! Very interesting and educational! Fun for all ages! When exiting the subway, take a RIGHT to go to the NY Aquarium/Coney Island or you will walk around a long, block.

Maxine Coimin

Absolutely lovely. The show with the seals and the shark exhibit were the highlight of the day. Was a great 2 hours

Galyna Shulimova

One year ago I was writing: "Nice place but is too small things to discover here. Good for school groups. Appropriate price $11.95" Today everything is changed - they open shark exhibitions and it's really great. The price is going up. $ 24 for an adult and $20 for a kid but it's worth it. Specially very good to visit this place after 6 pm on Fridays - they have extended hours during the summer on Fridays and Saturdays. And you will get 50% discount for enterence. You can enjoy beautiful view of the ocean and boardwalk, watching a fireworks and have a great time.

Prayfor Beverly

Fun and educational for kids and adults. I truly enjoyed myself. The sea lion show is super cool Browser is a great dancer. He sure has personality. Bridget brings a lot of life to the show. Thank you to all the trainers who put it all together. The shark exhibit is really nice. Next time I will get into the crawl space. Lol. The 3D movie is fun. The grounds are kept very well. Yes a small gem in Brooklyn.

Bwatson3332@yahoo.com B Watson

This was by far the best deal of things to do on the boardwalk. There are lots of different tanks with a ton of interesting fish and other marine life in them. The shark tank is awesome!! Enjoyed the sea lion show but I hear that that is going away soon :( if you are on the boardwalk go here for sure.

Miriam Chevere

Great place to bring kids who are enthusiastic about marine life. The new interactive shark exhibit is an excellent representation of actual live sharks in a simulation oceanic environment. They included a moderately sized rooftop bar with a view of the Coney Island Boardwalk and beach. They sell the basic burger/garden burger; fried chicken tenders, hot dogs and beverages. However, once you exit the exhibit, there's a food truck that sells fish tacos (fried cod fish) and fries

Betsy Herrington

We enjoyed our visit! Best parts for us were the shark exhibit and the sea lion show. Several renovations being done, so I'm sure next time around it will be a 5 star visit!

Mark Brisk

Brooklyn's famous place. Very nice and funny exhibitions for all family.

Ryan Kasper

Trainers are very nice and informative. The shark exhibit is great, the rest lacks polish.

christopher robinson

Saw the show with the seal we love. To see a human and an aquatic animal have such good relationship. It's amazing. They deserve all the credit in the world keep up the good job guys

Ed Loz

Good place to visit and educate kids about sea animals and how to protect our environment. I found that new sea lion show become much shorter compared to few years ago. New shark aquarium is a great place to see ocean live. Food is ok but have not found any healthy choices

BrooklynTony1

Hated it. It was way better before they “renovated it” Half of the exhibit is closed but you still pay a full price. Go to the beach for free... don’t waste your time and money in this place. Wow

Tyler Cook

A wonderful aquarium, and reasonably priced (with a 20% off coupon from their website, we got two tickets for less than $40). The aquarium is small but focused, with exhibits on sharks, the coral reef, etc. The octopus exhibit was closed during our visit, but there was still plenty to see. The focus of the aquarium is on wildlife conservation and education, so you'll learn a lot about God's creatures and how we can help protect them.

Spector281

Great place for kids and it usally takes up to 30 or 40 minutes of your time to visit thier is not much to see besides the show which happens at certain times.

Mandy Marie

Maybe I'm spoiled by growing up going to SeaWorld and the Aquarium in Mall of America but this Aquarium seems to be lacking. It's quite small and the fish in some tanks seem to be crammed in. I enjoyed the sea lion show but the water looked really murky which seems odd for an attraction. September is definitely a good time to go if you want to skip the crowds. You'll get through this place in an hour or two. I did enjoy the penguin feeding. They're really cute.

Chulo Flow

The new Shark thank is awesome.. this is a Must do if you visiting NYC . Family love it

mat wise

What a truly magical place, my son and I had the time of our lives. We saw a fantastic sea lion show, walked beneath a tank packed with sharks and other fish, and sat on a ledge by an enormous tank while sting rays swam right up to us. We also got to see adorable penguins and Otters swimming on their backs tumbling and taking a bath. It was a little pricey to go but worth it at least once!

Christopher Todd

It was alot of fun. Even in the light rain. It's not as big as I expected. We covered the whole thing in about 4 hours. Seal show was good, but a little short. Especially compared to sea world. Staff was pretty friendly. Overall a good experience.

Freda Velzen

We enjoyed seeing all the colorful species of sea life and reading about them too! The 4-D movie about sharks was fun and educational. The sea lion show was lots of fun for us!

Feng Liu

The place is pretty good, but not a lot of things to see. Some places are still under construction. Parking is quite expensive, and pretty hard to find street parking there. Nonetheless, it is pretty cool place to bring kids to see.

Kitty Yu

Very nicely designed, with both indoor and outdoor sections. The shark exhibit is amazing. I hope the enclosure can be enlarged for the animals though.

Petra Bydžovská

Nice place for visit. The shark exhibition is the best. Sea otters are cute but the sea lions are better in the Central Park zoo. Ideal for a visit with children. The shark tank is ok

Myles C

If you get to visit this place, you definitely should! Though it's relatively to the smaller scale, the experience you have is great! Definitely good for the summer

Rosie Perez

This place is really starting to come along. They still have work to do, but it's becoming a nice place to visit again, and once it's completely finished, will be a great place to spend the entire day with family.

Djery Jean

It was great but not amazing. It has to do mainly with the small number of exhibits available. But its a four because it is very beautiful with some amazing tanks for sharks and other creatures. Its nice but nit supernice. However it is appropriate for a crowded place such as NYC

Maryjane Rodriguez

Very disappointed A large group of us went to the Aquarium On July 4, 2019 and almost a lot of the animal exhibits were closed due to staff cleaning the areas up , scuba diver I. The tanks cleaning the large rocks and glass in the tanks , penguin area animals were not out due to the area being cleaned . Seal area being cleaned , we were a ground of 15 and a lot of us traveled from Virginia to see the animals and the show to see some areas were closed down and cleaning was being done . We Went to sea lion show and the spray mist cooking station was broken so the metal benches were very hot and the workers didn’t tell anyone that it was broken so we all sat down once we complained he said u can always stand if seats are hot . This was unacceptable while the place was full so we has no choice to stand and watch the show in the heat with no spray mist fans blowing while other areas where working . Parking was so expensive but we paid it to park the car due to outside parking was meter Area and we were not allowed to leave the aquarium unless we paid again . We were there for about an hour or so my cost to go for one hr 200.00 for admission and parking . We left and walked the board walk and got on some rides. Which after awhile it started to rain so we left With a bad taste in our mouths wrote a letter to the Aquarium to complain 2 weeks ago never heard back from anyone .

Alex Аlex

Nice but very small half of the aquarium under construction. Show also short and only lions but they good . So we need to wait.

Elena Ellis

I took my students there today. They loved it! It can be quite crowded when the weather is warm, but in Autumn, it is alot easier to move through the space.

I come to an aquarium every year, and coming here I was NOT disappointed! With so many beautiful fish and sea life I had an amazing time! Definitely recommend to all ages, kids and adults alike will be amazed by these spectacular creatures! (the penguins were my favorite!

Regina Jamison

Great stuff! Beautiful fish, rays, and sharks! The sea lion show is good too. Nice way to spend the afternoon. When you're done, stroll the boardwalk or hit Coney Island to enjoy some rides!

Daniel Alvarez

I used to visit a lot when I was younger...it's been about 15 years since my last visit and it doesn't seem to have changed too much! There's a new building/exhibit called "Sharks!" which was really nice, but it seemed that everything else had remained the same. That's not the worst thing as there are some really beautiful tanks and animals to gawk at though! There were also three exhibits that were closed...we weren't happy about that as we paid full price to get in just to have three out of six (?) exhibits closed.

Stephen Gilheeney

Went for a children's birthday party. the staff were very helpful with both setup and cleanup. The activities that they provided for the kids were amazing, and the room in which you were located was a perfect size and location.the attractions and shows were fun. It really does appear that the animals are well taken care of. All in all, an A+ afternoon.

Patricia Six

Sadly not all the exhibits were open so we only had a few areas to see. The new shark building was amazing! I was a little surprised with the music being played at the roof top cafe (not exactly family friendly).

jordan frye

The aquarium is great but pretty small as far as exhibits go. The sea lion show is still absolutely great and wonderfully entertaining. A must for kids

Beth Horboychuk

If you are a New Yorker or visiting New York City, this is definitely worth a visit. I have been here countless times as an educator and a parent. I do wish I could give it five stars but every time I go part of it is closed. With that said there is still so much to see. The new edition of the Shark Tank is pretty sweet. Seeing sharks swimming above your head is awesome. The facility is very clean which is not common in New York City. The sea lion show is adorable- the perfect amount of time for children to sit and be engaged. And if you get hungry check out the Ocean Side Grill, the food is pretty good and the view is amazing! I recommend the New York Aquarium for all ages.

Karl

The new shark exhibit was amazing for my toddlers. They couldn’t believe the sharks and fish were swimming above them. Slightly disappointed that the new aqua play zone is still under construction. Just wish the aquarium was bigger and had more to see. There’s a direct path to the boardwalk so it’s an easy walk to Luna Park and Nathans.

Allison S

Every aquarium I've ever been to, people complain that they're not big enough. I think it's really hard to have large aquariums. This is a pretty good one. I think when they build their newest addition it'll be amazing. Make sure to time it so that you go during a show. We saw the sea lion show and it was amazing. Not only did my kids learn something from the exhibits, I'm pretty sure I learned a bunch of stuff too. I was tempted to walk the boardwalk afterwards but the family was tired. Only aquarium that's better is maybe the one in Camden, NJ. But really this is a great one. And easy to get to for being in Brooklyn. Another tip: go to the shark building in the morning before the rest of the crowds catch up.

ALIA FAHME

Beautiful place to see the sea animals and a 15 minutes show. Its near the boardwalk good food and a pay parking lot.

A Pontrelli

Very Pricey, nice exhibits. Good with kids, a nice way to spend a couple hours especially if it is hot out. There is so much more to do at Coney Island for the day!

Joel Yip

A wonderful place to spend the afternoon, but be prepared for huge crowds (mostly kids and parents with pathway-blocking prams, so come with a little patience and navigational side-stepping skills, or if you are said parents, please be more considerate and don’t hog the narrow pathways. Now, the exhibits are wonderfully presented and maintained, the outdoors sea otters, shark tunnel and panoramic display of various sea creatures being my favourites to marvel at. Do make time for the entertaining sealion show at certain times during each day, and come prepared with sunscreen and water to stay hydrated.

Sara Smyth

The employees are misinformed about their own timings and policies. When going to the 4D shark movie, we were told that we could go to back to the aquarium no problem. We had 4 different employees tell us that. Then when we went to go back they said that we couldn’t. Not worth the money if they are going to play games like that. We missed out on an hour of staying longer because of this stupidity.

Vilma Mejias

I'm Brooklyn Born, so the aquarium home. It's great to see the changes, more educational and informative. It's coming along,...God willing the missing exhibits will be opened soon.

Megan Fix Rothbloom

The new shark tunnel is amazing! Also love that all of the attractions are included in the admission price.

Karla Alvarez

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I don’t want to give away to much!

Elisa Lewis

Wonderful ! Made me a kid all over again! Employees very knowledgeable and friendly. My girls 17 and 13 eyes were sparkling with excitement with the aquarium. I will return next summer !

Dominik Šváb

I was expecting more. The two expositions is closed. I think that the best exposition is Sharks.

W Jae

As crowded as this place was, I still love it!Been taking my child since she was a baby. This time I took my nieces there and they loved the tunnel and the Sharks! I love the eating area where you can look out onto the ocean. Go! Enjoy!

Rajwantie Sahai

I always love visiting the NY Aquarium! I recently went with my family including my 2 year old niece, and even with a heat wave, we had an amazing experience. Thoughtful staff, lots of opportunities to learn about our living environment, and my niece had so much fun.

Jennifer McDonnell

New shark exhibit is very well done. Overall a small attraction. Plan to spend a couple hours. Some areas under construction.

Jay Sean

Nice place to spend one or two hours to watch the fish, but admission is a bit expensive and the aquarium is small. The shark exhibit was the highlight of my visit with sharks and beautiful stingrays This is a great place to bring the kids. And with the new shark exhibit, they'll really enjoy their time. However it is pricey like $30 for adimission fee when the half of the park is closed or under renovation!

Darlene Lewis

IT WAS A WONDERFUL DISPLAY OF GOD'S CREATIVITY WORK. ONLY GOD'S POWER COULD HAVE ALLOWED SUCH CREATURES OF THE SEA TO HAVE LIFE. THE EXHIBIT WAS SPECTACULAR, AMAZING & BEAUTIFUL. EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS PRESENTATION AT CONEY ISLAND. GOD WILLING, WE PLAN TO GO AGAIN BEFORE SUMMER ENDS.

Noucelyne Charles

It was very crowded when I visited due maybe to the spring break but if you're a member, you won't need to worry about waiting in line. The ocean wonders sharks is AMAZING!!! Maybe that's what attracting the huge crowd. Prepare yourself for an underwater experience with fish and sharks swimming above your head. They did a good job fixing the place in the Sandy hurricane aftermath. The 4D theater is informative with facts about different species of sharks. An extra credit for a science class anyone? I would have given 5 stars but I found it unbelievable for a place so big that the ONLY available restroom was closed with everyone coming with little children. When I inquired about a restroom, nonchalantly the NYA employee told me to use the boardwalk. I ended up at Luna park with 2 squirming kids to use the restroom. Besides, the Bronx Zoo food truck was the only actual "food" choice there with their highly priced items. I mean $2.75 for a can of soda??!! Actually they deserve 2 stars but as a member, I truly care for the animals, so here's to my beloved animals: 4-stars.

Abigail Narine

I think it's a bit pricey but it certainly was an educational trip for my 6 year old, however I thought the sea lion show was a waste of time, our show was supposed to begin at 1 but started one or two minutes late and was over by 1:10, so we actually spent more time waiting in line to get in than the actual show itself. It's nice that you can just walk over to Coney Island and the boardwalk though.

Fadi Batarseh

Beautiful day, and the perfect time to visit. Not crowded at all, free street parking on Sundays, and a great experience. My children really enjoyed it, as did my wife and I.

D

Located adjacent to the beach and it's broad walk. A less than 5 minute walk to Luna Park. Clean, easy to walk through design with multiple buildings with indoor and outdoor exhibits. Animals appears to be healthy. They trainer lead show with the seals was pleasant and educational. Parking is not cheap, but train stop is 1 block away as an alternative.

Jackeline Godinez

$19 is way over priced so this ridiculously small Aquarium. I ordered two tickets and it was $39, which was way too much if you don't have a lot to offer. The sea Lion show was a slap to the face as it was only 15 minutes long! There needs to be a capacity limit because it's too small for over 100 people. The ONLY thing I liked about this place were the sharks and the sea otters. I only recommend this place for school/camp field trips. And I highly recommend the Bronx Zoo, they have more to offer and way more exhibits. They also need to offer refunds because I seriously want my money back, or at least for one ticket for the refund.

David Alishayev

Much bigger exposition than 2 years back. Great 4D movie included in package price. Lot of interesting information and show for kids. Parking - just $18.

Denise Scarbeck

Absolutely LOVE the new sharks exhibits!! Gorgeous and HUGE! Early in the morning is the best time to go & beat the crowds. Don't forget to see the 4D shark movie before you leave, it was really great and only 15 minutes. My 4.5 year old loved it, too. This was definitely a great way to spend a day.

Evelyn Cuahutle

Overall, it was great. Especially being able to see the new shark exhibit but what was shocking and upsetting was to see that inside a tank where a sea turtle was there was plastic and it was consuming it. Knowing that you guys are advising not to use nor throw plastic in the waters this was certainly unacceptable. There should be more precautions!

Victorya Kaon

The New York Aquarium is one of the biggest aquariums in Brooklyn that houses a large variety of sea life, including the Californian seal, Bruser. It was a wonderful sunny day at the Aquarium and it was comparable to waiting in line at Disney Land. The remarkable part was how well kept and conserved each of the parts of the park were. I highly reccomend taking a visit in the summer and leaning about the different types of aquatic life there are in the aquarium.

Ariel Weigel

The renovations are coming along great. The rooftop bar is awesome, you can see the boardwalk and beach while sipping your drink.

Berla Severe

It was very nice. I learned a lot. It was my first time going there. Don't go when it's raining because the shows get cancelled. Wednesday and Friday at 3pm, you can make a donation only instead of paying.

Jennifer O

Visited the old Aquarium, long while ago...but The New place is a blessing

Hannah C

Great aquarium and amazing tanks post renovation. The sharks exhibit area was absolutely stunning and tranquil and I could overhear kids asking their parents about recycling plastics which made me feel like the aquarium is accomplishing something big :)

Random Youtuber1122

This place is pretty awesome if you have those science vouchers. They are still rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy but so far it is very nice. They have sharks, exotic fish, puffins and so much more. The gift shop is pretty cheap and I got some souvenirs.

iliana p

Cool place. No point of going there after one visit. Very beautiful fish and sharks

Vikesh Kapadia

Worth the trip out to Coney Island! Great place to visit for the whole family and right next to the broad walk. The staff is very friendly and helpful with young kids. Also, the sea lion show is totally worth it!

Stephanie Pinnock

We had a lovely time at this aquarium. They had a nice variety of fish to look at. The children had a really good time. We enjoyed the show and even caught t-shirts. We decided to eat lunch there, the line was ridiculous as they only had one staff member taking the order and making drinks. She was a delight even though it was clearly a stressful situation. She smiled with a the customers. I was shocked to be told they only had alcoholic ice slushies as I would consider the aquarium a child oriented place. The only non soda option for children was water

Barbara A Genco

Terrific. Excellent exhibits. Super staff. Strong scientific and environmental exhibits support the amazing collection. Highly Recommend

Sidra Ali

It was Amazing place and it could be even nicer if there are more activities to do inside the aquarium field. The sealoin show was the best. The 4D shark show was okay as well. One advice: there is lots of walking so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Overall had a very tiring but nice day. Thank you!

Maria Hernandez

Pretty small aquarium and the place can get overly crowded when kids go for a school trip. It's quite difficult to even look at some of the fish because the water is too cloudy. Not worth the price and there are definitely better aquariums out there.

Lisa Gelman

The 4D Theater was Great! I enjoyed the show. Lines were short. The climate control system was fabulous. It was definitely worth it!

Latonya Ross

Its beautiful specially the shark exhibit, their fixing alot of things so there isnt alot but it's still nice

Pradeep Nair

Nice facility and very well maintained. Comparatively smaller than other aquariums i have visited in the US. That being said they are expanding their collection in a grand scale and i can see the big difference from when I was here about 3 years ago. Also, on the pricier side for tickets as well as parking. The latter is a rip off if you ask me but i guess its nyc.

karolain arias

It's expensive for a small place, Instructions are not given clear when you entry, the staff couldn't manage to help me as it should be. Worthless...
