This Zoo corresponds to the category of Zoo.
Decent zoo, considering the remote location. We will go back. They had giraffes, zebras, and many other animals that the kids enjoyed seeing.
Christmas lights are very pretty!
Totally unexpected and amazing!!
Loved it! The animals came right up to us!
The local zoo with very friendly caretakers, amazing animals and engaging scenery.
Smaller zoo. Really great experience for the price of admission.
Love the trees
It's very nice n good
Granted it was a free day, but the exhibits for some of the creatures were awfully small and some seemed miserable. The tiger especially was not pleased with visitor's. There was no apparent staff amongst the park we could speak with or stop arrogant punk's from tossing things and teasing the tiger
Didn't go, was already closed.
I'm on the other side of the fence with this place. Good bang for your buck, on the one hand. Has a lot to see for a small zoo in a small town. ON THE OTHER HAND, a good amount of the caged animals were walking or surrounded by their own filth.
Nice zoo
Love the zoo and love the people that ate there to help all the amazing animals ive been to the zoo and would love to help them put and help all the animals oit to. I will yet everyone no about Clovis zoo. make sure if you go to Clovis NM STOP BY THE HILLCRESY ZOO its beautiful place to go with yall family and friends. Have a good day out at the zoo ☺
Loved the zoo, wish it had better funding to just clean it up a bit.
Amazing for such a small town. Wide variety of animals on exhibit. Guest friendly, most of the enclosures are fairly humane, great for an older zoo. It's been 15 months since I've been there, but if they still have the same raven, hang around for a few minutes, he has an interesting comment to share!
I love this Hometown zoo it's so relaxing to visit the many animals.
Cool place to take your family
For a small town the zoo is great. It continues to improve and so much has been done to make the experience better. The small shop is nice too. Lots of cute little things throughout the zoo.
Wonderful zoo, with happy, well-maintained animals.
Great open space
Was a great experience for my four year old..
It’s a nice zoo for the area. They have a nice selection of animals and they take great pride in their landscaping, which is also quite difficult to conquer in this region.
Great small Zoo. Very friendly and super cheap. Been there about 3 times now. Lots of Pokestops too. Just sayin
Zoo is great. So glad to have one locally. Fun place to visit
Great zoo. Only $4 to get in.
Quaint little zoo. Was too hot for us and animals, but we enjoyed ourselves.
Small zoo with a good variety of different animals. Prices are cheap. It is very out of place for a town this size but still very interesting. Worth checking out at least once.
Awesome
The hillcrest park zoo was a fun little place for the whole family with monkeys, giraffes, reptile house and a decent variety of animals and creatures. In short it was fun for the family and took up some free time and made great memories for the kids. With the amount of animals they have, there is room for expansion and it seems to me they are planning on adding animals in the future. If you do visit don't forget to donate, every contribution helps support this great community attraction.
It was ko. Took the grandbabies to see the Christmas lights. Some animals were out others were inside their homes. A little cold for some.
What a wonderful zoo! My husband and I visited the zoo with my son's family just before Christmas. I love Joe the raven. Make sure to talk to him. He will talk back. The staff was very friendly and genuinely care about the animals. I recommend anyone who stops in Clovis to visit this zoo. I will again!
Hadn't seen the zoo in 50 years. They've upgraded it welll.
Great place for family
Small town zoo with a nice selection of animals. Walking paths and layout are a little strange but you can tell it was a lot "bigger"/nicer at one point in it's life. Great place for families and people wanting something different.
Hillcrest wasn't the largest or most unique zoo I had ever seen, but it was well worth the hour or so I spent there. As with most small zoos some of the habitats - particularly those where the bears and tiger reside - could use to be larger. However, the enclosures appeared to be well-kept, and the animals mostly seemed to be acclimated to their homes. I will make it a point to stop there again, should I end up in Clovis again.
Great zoo
Bigger than expected. Some of the exhibits looked dirty.
It was a nice lil zoo. Kids enjoyed it. Not bad at all.
Needs places to drink water.. with more shady areas for kids to rest . Paint touch ups are necessary also.
I was amazed at how many animals were there. It was a very pleasant stroll and quite large. My granddaughter enjoyed it a lot.
My son loves going here but I wish they had more animals and maybe more kid friendly!
Clovis is a smaller town but this little zoo is a great part of the city. Lots of animals you wouldn’t expect which is a nice surprise. The zoo is pretty clean, great family outdoor activity. My little one loves it. Try it out.
Really nice for a small zoo; we'll certainly return
Great place to walk around and get fresh air as a group! Those who like pokemon go will definitely enjoy the stops and gyms. They keep adding animals which is a plus!
I LOVED IT!!!! Especially the zebras!
I'm from Denver!! Where are all the animals? I counted maybe five of them LOL!
It's always fun to go to the park and let the kids run around.
Best zoo in this area
Cool place to get away and do something different in a small town such as this. Reasonable price. Lots of shade to stay cool. Large park near by to picnic at and make a day out of the park. I will revisit again when in the area! Recommended to visit.
Amazing zoo for a great price. Many different types of animals from tigers to eagles to snakes. Definitely don't miss out on this Zoo!
Very Nice Zoo. First visit.
Very nice zoo for a small town. Kid friendly. Easy walks and LOTS of benches to sit and watch animals.
Nice
I think its a nice little zoo for clovis. My kids enjoyed it very much!!!
Enjoying some family time
Needs work and funds!
Great little zoo. Good exhibits and a great place to stop in the middle of a road trip.
Very nice experience, I went with the family on a trip over spring break, it was very clean, and easily surpassed our expectations. There are no huge animals like you would find in a zoo like Albuquerque, but it hosts plenty of interesting and plain cool animals like zebras, and a very friendly hyena. Would definitely recommend if your looking for an off the beaten path but totally worth it stop.
Nice place to take the children. Wish they would advertise it more so more people would go.
This is a must in Clovis!
It was a great zoo but I wanted to see more animals. They didn’t have any animals to pet but it was still nice.
Pretty good for the size
The place could use a little update. Park benches need painted. But overall a nice visit. The gift shop was great. Everything was affordable and even had a dollar section!
Great to get away for the day with my family to walk and enjoy our get away to look at the animals
Good place to go if you are looking for fun though needs to be cleaned a bit. Staff helps with any questions you may have and staff is very nice!
Was surprised to find the Zoo empty Clean place and healthy animals, worth a visit You (and children) can watch reptiles there, feed ducks and walk next to peacocks.
I frequently visit the Hillcrest Park and Zoo. Like any other zoo they have exotic animals in a very attractive clean and beautiful inviroment Where in the park area you can have a great time picnicking and enjoy fun and games. Softball Volleyball Soccer and even a three holes golf course.
This is an amazing zoo for such a small town. It is constantly being updated and animals are well cared for. It's a fun way to spend a day!
My first time going and i had fun even tho its hot it was a good experience for a small town like so!
My goodness it has been a few years since I walked the Zoo and saw the animals. I applaud the Zoo personnel for all the hard work and the attention to the animals is evident. For a small town Zoo, Clovis should be proud. Limited funds are always a problem, but I noticed all the nice benches and other contributions from individuals and some organizations. Again I say Hats off to Clovis for caring about this little part of their town. Way to go.
HPZ
We always have a good time here! Staff is always friendly and the prices are great, even in the gift shop.
A good zoo to test the waters on how kids will handle being around crowds and animals. It is a good family place to get out of the house and get active in Clovis it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to see the entire zoo and the price is always fair. Being from a big city this zoo was a bit disappointing but it is wonderful for toddlers and young children to explore and learn about animals they don't usually see.
Beautiful park. Large trees, a duck pond, and a nice long track. The only negative here is that the park is dirty. There is always dog poo everywhere. You can't lay in the grass without laying in dog poo. Decent zoo.
I was surprised with how nice this place was. For a small town zoo this place is great. It's actually large. Never gets too crowded. Cheap prices. Way better than the zoo in Amarillo.
Needs TLC...
Haven't been here in 16 years. Returned in May 2019. The attention to detail is lacking. Whole place could use a power washing. Bird poop covers the bridge over the pond. Fenced area where two large turtles are in needs repaired. Weeds everywhere. Animals need better habitats. No grass or adequate shade in some of the animal habitats. The bird exhibits are difficult to see in. Aside from the Raven and the monkeys, this place is a dump and in dire need of a manager who will not only take care of, but improve this place.
I am not to happy with the way the animals are being treated. The bears look sick. The camel has something wrong with its coat. The reptiles water is all nasty and they are getting way to much light you can tell buy the skin. The ask for donations to help and I understand we all need to do our part but I also know they get help for the government with grants and stuff. There was over growing grass everywhere and the duck pond is green this and should be fix we take our kids to the zoo to see happy animals not dying ones
Always fun to go to, and very cheap to get in as well.
It's very nice for a small town zoo
For a small town, this Zoo was impressive. Dirt paths but the place feels clean. Plenty of animals and you almost forget your in the city. A trip typically takes 1-2 hours to walk all the exhibits.
Love it. Great small town zoo.
Just left the Clovis zoo great place our son as well as us had a great time the animals looked great and happy the staff was great would definitely recommend this zoo thanks guys for a great experience
Zoo is beautiful and well maintained.
The zoo is great for Clovis gives the little kids something to do the entire park is cool from the splash pad to the playground and the dog parks love the setup of Hillcrest park and Zoo
Kids had a blast. Great pricing for families
Lots of different animals! Low cost. Beautiful greenery.
Actually an incredible little zoo, very "personal." All the animals are rescues of one sorry or another too and can't be released back into the wild - which somewhat changes the narrative of the zoo. And all this for a very reasonable price. Consider getting an annual family pass and use the zoo as a regular park
Small zoo, small prices, our kids don't know the difference and they love coming here, especially to watch the spider monkeys. Some parts aren't as well maintained as others but recently it looks like they have been working on improvements.
Dog park it's clean and fun
It's good for the area. Family place.
Animals look happy and healthy. Moderately sized. Great experince
I enjoy going to the zoo with my children. It's changed so much since I was a child.
Love the Zoo!!
Great experience as compared to the same zoo of yesteryear.
Very nice zoo. The staff was also knowledgeable and friendly. Many of the animals are rescues.
My other review was just biased, I moved in military and I didn't know much about the town when coming here... But now I'm going to make a decent review. The lake water is green but I learned that they recycle wastewater for it. The animals look alright but it does need some more keeping up. The zoo has a decent selection of animals and it isn't that bad for a town like this!
Needs improvements..some attractions ..more animals
Clean, well kept. Animals in good shape.
Awesome free kids and family outings
4 generations have been to this zoo. It's a sweet zoo
Great little zoo. Friendly staff and great prices on admission.
Good zoo. Very educational and with the small budget they still keep it reasonably well. Worth a visit if you're in town.
The animals looked so real, that I almost thought they were real. Good 3D technology.
Beautifully kept. Nice shade. Great place.
If you're looking for animals you'll find them here but not many and don't expect much from the maze of pathways. Price is pretty reasonable but I felt like the main attraction were the amount of peacocks, ducks and geese throughout the park. Didn't see any information about shows or places where people could pet animals. Many of the encounters are double fenced which puts you far away from the animals or doesn't allow you to see into many of the cages. No map or ticket provided and signage is pretty poor except for a few arrows. Never found any map displaying where certain animals were located. Left a lot to be desired and I've been to a lot of zoos big and small.
Lots of upgrading done lately keep it up
Love it ! Make sure and stop and talk to Joe Black when you come to the birds
Very out of place in a town like Clovis. But it's a great place. Very relaxing.
Beautiful place for the kiddos never gets old
Great little park
First zoo in New Mexico and it was amazing it had many animals I was NOT expecting! Reptile room was probably my favorite oh no I lied the lemurs had to be my favorite! Great staff extremely friendly and most importantly did NOT cost an arm or a leg :)
Some of the animals didn't look very healthy. The grounds were unkept. I normally love zoos. Been to several all over the place and this one wasn't good. Lots of little statues around. Money could of been better used for animal Care/better habitats.
Animals treated super poorly here, no budget it seems. Don't go if you are a true animal lover. By that i mean that you say you love animals but gorge youself with them everyday, hypocrite.
There was a wedding there. I was a giraffe.
The grass is always cut nicely!
Good small town enjoyment!
We enjoyed the zoo it's alot bigger then we expected , definitely will be back
I love all the events they have here. Especially the lights at Christmas.
Needed cleaning bad shape since last visit some animals dirty cages
We love going to the zoo! So fun and affordable! A great place to wear out the kids before nap time!
Love the zoo has always been great since I was a child.
Nice small zoo, clean, well cared for critters
I used to live in CLOVIS and I miss it very much. I always loved going to the park and the zoo.
Kids had a great time at the splash pad.
Nice little zoo.
Fun little zoo! Currently being renovated and the animals seem to have plenty of space. Very well priced!
They need to get more animals like kangaroos and koala bears
Cool little zoo...fun for the kids. Lots of parking,, very economical.
This is NOT a full or medium sized zoo. So I can't compare it to zoos I've been to like the Philadelphia, San Diego or LA zoo! That said, it's a cute, small, quaint zoo to see, when you are in Clovis, NM. It's only $4 dollars admission, so bring the children and have a nice time. Sorry, many of my photos are substandard because I couldn't get close enough or the fencing/wire was in the way. Considering that a world class zoo, like San Diego charges $45-59 for admission, this is a bargain for sure!
Great little zoo pretty good assortment of critters
It was ok. I have been to multiple places like this and this had to be the worst. The snack shop was closed, all the vending machines sold out. Make sure to take your own food and water. Almost half the exhibits were under construction or closed. Go to Almagordo NM it's much better
It's really fun and shady and the animals are nice the only complaint is the pond it can pass as shrek's swamp.
Love to see all different animals and snakes
I Love this zoo! We go every weekend, with our yearly pass. Great way to get outside with the kids.
I wish they had a small snack bar of sorts or could have a petting zoo but otherwise my 2 year old has a blast when we go.
It was nice. Some of the animals look sick. No water. They really need some volunteers and donations.
Love the staff and the animals are so cool to look at. You can even feed the ducks.
Had a good time the only thing I didn't like was no snack bar was open and it was a hot day.
The zoo is beautiful and the animals are well taken care of
I love this place! The price is right & the people actually care about their animals! I think the size of this zoo blows away other zoos! It's all about the animals here. They're not out to sell you a million useless souvenirs throughout your walk through, like most other big city zoos. Great variety of well taken care of animals! You will enjoy it! Go here!!!
Decent Zoo, use your phone to look up the critters and teach the kids a little, very intimate with the animals.
Problem is drink machines not being maintained
Beautiful place with plenty of shade. Kids loved it!
Most of the animals are here due to being rehabilitated or they've been injured else where and there's no where else for them to go. I'd love for the zoo to post signs on the backgrounds of the animals, for people to understand their stories. I think it's wonderful how well the staff takes care of and loves these animals. The volunteers that work there do an amazing job. It's unfortunate to see so many parents let their children scream and run around rather than educate them on the animals. It's not an amusement park, it's a zoo in a small town doing a great job of taking care their animals.
Warm and friendly people, the park looks awesome they have definitely upgraded
The Hillcrest/Clovis Zoo has amazing and hardworking staff and is wonderfully shaded. And a talking Raven (Joe), plus a dancing Macaw. Does it really get better without an hour commute? Honestly my favorite part of Clovis. My Work center will be sponsoring an exhibit again this year!
Kids loved it.. I'm sure there's better bigger budget zoos but this one is nice for the size
Very pleasantly surprised would recommend this little zoo to anyone price was extremely reasonable Gatesville TX.
I love the Hillcrest zoo it's small but very nice come in late spring or thru the summer
Great place to visit, plenty to see, kids and adults will love it.
Great for family and friends
Killing time at the truckstop, and decided to ride my bike down to the zoo. Very nice setup, and very nice people working there too.
The kids had a blast!!
Incredible zoo for the price and location. Not a huge zoo, but it is well kept up with a good variety of animals to see.
Nice smaller zoo!
Nice place.
We like it, my kids love the animals but the lady at front is so rude.
Lots of different varieties of animals. Great staff, friendly people. Great place to take the family, also surrounded by park and splash pad.
Fun
