This Zoo is included in the category of Zoo.
Like the zoo, great for little people ages 2 to 9. Looks great, but the petting zoo was only sheep feed inside there pen. Didn't like that. I also think that the leopard needs a bigger space to run around. But all in all clean and nice people.
My husband and I have been a member for more than 5 years. My daughter can’t get enough of this zoo. This year she was accepted in the STEM program at the zoo. The staff is just wonderful and easy to talk to. They care about the animals and the kids. As a educator I recommend this place and it’s many programs they offer for the kids especially if your child wants to be near the animals.
Mostly a zoo for kids to enjoy. Love the interactive feeding the animals etc. We enjoyed our time here.
We went on a Tuesday, so there wasn't much people around. So we actually like that we don't have to be in a super crowded place. The zoo itself is not that big. It took us about 2 hours to tour the whole zoo. We fed some animals and just relaxed a bit in the play areas. Overall, enjoyable.
great experience. loved the animals. have been going here for years and will always return on a lazy day.
Great place to spend the day with the kids. Or just to go by yourself and relax have some alone time highly recommend it.
Always love taken my son here all the time he loves it not to big great for little kid and adults for a fun day out the animal selections are beautiful
Went to Cafe, nice place great staff, zoo great for kids and adults
Fantastic main indoor exhibit. Great Rattle Snake collection.
This is probably the best smallest zoo I have been to. I was surprised to see animals I would typically not see in most zoos, including cassowary birds, the adults of which can be deadly to anyone who gets in their way. Also, if you are visiting Staten Island, one of the best reasons to do so is because you are going to visit this zoo. They have parking. They have a carousel too.
Small but we'll maintained with friendly staff

Such a great atmosphere for lil children as well as adults too
My almost 19 yr old son.Took me yesterday as a surprise. We have been going here.Since he was a baby.We absolutely love the zoo.Love the changes. We are planning on becoming members. Its always so clean.Never too crowded. The employees are always smiling. They have taught my children.A lot over the years. Thanks a million! We had a perfect day.
Overwhelmed on free Wednesday but great for kids
The SI zoo has wonderful sights to see. It has great new animals and I loved the aquarium. Take your family there and no matter how old you are take a ride on the carousel.
Nice zoo. Was very hot so some animals were not out
Not a big one, pretty compact, and there are plenty of animals, and you can actually come very close to them and observe them being fed. Not that many visitors, which is probably not good for the zoo, but perfect for anyone whose goal is to see the animals, not to fight your way through. This zoo is not for children only, not at all! We, two adults, had a wonderful time over there. There is a parking lot, also, it's very easy to find a parking spot around the zoo.
It's pretty good but a small one and few animals
Great place for all ages. It is good that the only zoo on Staten Island is a good one. They have great for all too see. I always love going there.
Great little zoo. Perfect for kids. Many animals to see including an aquarium, and reptiles. Kids can pet and feed some animals.
Great place to bring your kids.
So many animals to see. Every time we go there's new animals. My kids and I love going to the zoo. It's $10 for adults and $6 for kids 4 to 14. So I paid just under $30. I feel like it was worth it.
Great place for the kids, the zoo has really upgraded since the last time I was there (20 years). Very inexpensive too !

Great place and great prices!
I really love the zoo with all the different types of snake
Great place to bring young kids and show them another part of the world they don't see too often. Nice combination of wildlife animals reptiles and an aquarium of a lot of fish. They also have a petting zoo where you can feed sheep and other animals. We had a great time there.
It was first time I went there and my son had so much fun. But I wish the zoo was a little bigger though
Many cool animals that I have heard of but never seen before.
A small zoo with a sizeable reptile and fish exhibit. Packed with a lot of fun things to see. Has a small cafe with good burgers and fries. A great place to take a family.
It is rarely crowded, fairly priced and has an adorable carousel with a seat even for infants.
What a great day we had. Super affordable with FREE parking! The kids loved it and so did we. Just big enough to not be overwhelming. Great exhibits and very clean. They also have a petting zoo which is a few dollars extra but the kids enjoyed it. You can feed the other animals for 25cents. We always have a nice time when we go.
Leopard was beautiful but was pacing. The snake exhibit is world class.
Best small zoo in NYC. The new aquarium is nice. A great place to visit with kids.
Considering that the zoo is only eight acres, I was quite pleasantly surprised. The animals seemed well taken care of, and seemed to have lots of toys for enrichment. The zoo had lots of information regarding conservation, including facts on their status and what you as an individual can do to help. When you visit, please keep in mind that this zoo is very small so don’t be disappointed that they don’t have any elephants or giraffes. That being said, there are many interesting animals to see and learn about :)
My Grandson Mark LOVE S.I.ZOO.
U will have alot of fun and get to know other animals from Africa
Excellent place for a small adventure for small children. My 2 daughters ages 5 and 8, absolutely enjoyed them selves. Their favorite was the carousel and the snake exhibit. What I enjoyed most as a parent was the reasonable cost and size of the park. Small enough so it's not exhausting day, but large enough to keep the kids busy. Was disappointed that the petting zoo part was closed. But was for understandable reason, it was too hot for the animals to be in the sun. Don't make the same mistake I made, call in advance to see if this part will be open the day you plan to go.
Just a quiet and clean place with friendly staff
Beautiful even has a carousel
Me and my daughter had a great time. It's kind of small but it is like a hidden gem on staten island. They have a great leopard exhibit and the reptile house has been vastly improved since I was a kid. Me and my daughter always have fun when we go there.
We travelled over to Staten Island on a very grey day and once we arrived at the zoo it was raining. We didn't care. It ment we pretty much had the zoo to ourselves. Wasn't crazy busy so we could take our time seeing every single animal. Loved it!
Very cool zoo. Great prices! Very nice landscaping and grounds. Employees knowledgeable and caring about animals, and very pleasant! Hand washing stations after petting zoo. Overall well thought out place with nice atmosphere.
SI Zoo doesn't disappoint. It's the beginning of the new 2019 th season . Yeah!!! We are planning a birthday party "with" a SI Zoo. It's should be remarkable.
This is a surpriseingly great zoo what a ton of different animals to view. They have an amazing leapord, a newly renovated aquarium room, a carousel, and a petting zoo where you can feed some animals. It's also great to see random free roaming peacocks walking around. We typically spend about an hour and a half here. It's $10 for adults, $6 for 4-14 and free 3 and under. Parking it also free.
Smallest, though the best zoo in NYC, great variety of animals, great layout of exibits makes it fun to walk for the family's and many children's interactive things to do, and it really is all free on wensday
We had to go to Staten Island and decided to visit the zoo and I was so pleasantly surprised. All of the animals look so well taken care of. It's easy to walk around here. The Staten Island Zoo is laid out very well with easy to follow directions, and it seems every corner you are seeing a new animal. They have animals that I haven't seen at other larger zoos. They also had my favorite bird, the cassowary....so I immediately fell in love with it here. I'm looking forward to go again.
Small zoo packed with plenty of animals to see. Largest snake collection around! Well maintained grounds.

Lovely little zoo with lots to see. Might be a better option than the other NYC zoos, and a good price.
Haven't been there in years. The changes are amazing. Beautiful and great to walk around in. Great job.
Thought it was a little bigger, but I haven't been there sense I was 10. Brought my son he had a good time... That's all that matters.
Small but nice. Could use some cleaning though
Great local. Zoo here on staten island This zoo is a great place to take the kids
Nice little zoo. Has a petting zoo (extra charge) for the little ones. Good for half a day's visit. Wednesdays free after 2pm. Nice sized free parking lot.
There are more exotic animals here than I expected for a small zoo such as leopards and monkeys. They need to stop calling their collection of fish an aquarium cause it's just not. It is relaxing
Has a good amount of animals. Not to large of a zoo so its pretty easy to see every animal in like 30 mins.
Great place to take your kids to meet animals up close and personal.
Very cool zoo. Great prices! Very nice landscaping and grounds. Employees knowledgeable and caring about animals, and very pleasant! Hand washing stations after petting zoo. Overall well thought out place with nice atmosphere.
The carousel and dinosaurs are nice additions.
Had a great day with my children just wish there were a bit more animals to see during the winter months
Small zoo with a lot to see, ample parking
I had a great time at this zoo. I was happy that i got to see a lot of animals, unlike some zoo that are big and the animals are spread out.
For Staten island it isn't bad, should be open alittle later but however nice little outing with the kids for the day!
Love taking my grandchildren there. We just love going there!!!!
Neat experience and walk. After we took the kids to the amazing park. Wonderful afternoon.
Great local zoo, part of a larger set of zoo's throughout NYC including those in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the The Aquarium in Coney Island, as well as the large Bronx Zoo. Excellent hall of reptiles, aquarium, petting zoo, horseback rides available. Great place for kid's birthday celebrations. Has a small cafeteria/snack stand with limited food options and a selection of souvenirs, such as shirts, cuddly toys and such. Pleasant place to spend a few hours.
Can use some major upgrades
The Zoo has changed a great deal since the days we used to bring our daughter there on warm, sunny spring days. Today's visit was our one year old granddaughter's first. We strolled through the park, passing packs of kids from different schools as they spent their day running, laughing and gawking at the lizards. We can't wait to return.
Interesting, but more for the kids
A fun and interesting place to visit with your children.
Great value for the experience, perfect afternoon / day trip with the kids.
very impressed with maintenance of this Zoo! animals i haven't seen before. retuning very soon. only star missing was because thers no parking area for the zoo. (wasn't' too bad finding parking)
Aquarium smaller after rebuild. Less animals than they used to have.
A good zoo that's a manageable size. Friendly chickens running around. Not overwhelming for kids
Very calm atmosphere. Very cheap. Plenty of attractions
I thought it would be a small zoo but it turn out to be a nice sized zoo for our little kids. They enjoy all of the exhibits. Their new aquarium it's gorgeous. And I personally love all the reptile specially black forest anaconda, what a beauty!
Kids and I had a great time as a family coming here for the end of the summer field trip. Any day is good to go. But on Wednesday it's free and it's .50 cents to get food for the animals to feed.
Great place to take toddlers and love always to see the snow leopard out and socializing and love the kangaroos and the little Aquamarium!!
For the price you cant go wrong. It's a cute little zoo. A place to spend a few hours instead of staying home. I took my 10 month old and he really enjoyed it. I would go again.
Although this Zoo is small. The kids and I enjoyed it.
For the price it's great. You get some good family time in and it's not a huge zoo that takes forever to get through.
Great little zoo for a morning or afternoon trip and inexpensive enough where you don't feel the need to stay all day. Lots of exhibits and a nice area for kids to feed gentle animals. I'd recommend it.
Great new addition s made to the zoo over the last year. Worth a new visit if you haven't been there. My kids love it!!!
Great zoo, perfect size to do in a couple of hours. Has a variety of animals and a petting park. For being a zoo or park type place, the food was good.
Great for kids small zoo but is fun
Wonderful family fun!
Best place to spend time with little kids. Not so crowded as other parks. Very clean
Really good and cozy zoo. I was supposed how nice exebitions are. Very kids friendly place and children love to be there. I will be definitely recommend this place, specially for family with kids all ages.
Super awesome even for the adults. Highly recommend!
Its the zoo, its smaller but very much a great experience. It gets kids to have a hands on experience learning about animals
Very well kept! Wish there were more animals though
Suitable for kids to go to the zoo, there are many cute animals inside, you can also feed
The Halloween event was nice. Great option for little kids.
Amazing zoo lots of reptiles and and animals to see I was impressed definitely would recommend .
This zoo is pretty small compared to some of the zoos I've been to in other cities however if you are going with young kids this might be the perfect size to keep them interested and not tired.
I love this zoo, I'm born and raised on Staten Island.
Spooktackular was great. Fun, sweet and when it got dark, scary! The only downside was the rain ☔
Family friendly place to enjoy the animals. Great staff
Clean and we'll maintained. Lots to see, do, touch, and feed (bring a Ziploc bag and quarters the get animal food)
Things were nice, the african animals were too loud scared the kids. Overall nice place and thank Elvis Duran for the kangaroos and emus. Giant tototise is nice too.
Fantastic small zoo. Wednesday’s from 2 till close it’s free. That’s only 2.75 hours but honestly that’s plenty of time. The lemurs were our favorite, and their selection of reptiles and amphibians was widely varied and surprising for such a small zoo. Parking not great, will likely need to find a nearby neighborhood street.
Great zoo for such a price ($10 for adults and $7 for seniors) and size. Excellent choice if you don't want to take long commute to the Bronx zoo or don't want to walk too much. Easy to find free street parking nearby.
Nice small zoo, there is a carousel
Great place for kids and family to see animals
Love how the zoo has been remodeled. The aquarium is beautiful ! Great place to take the family
I thought it would be a small zoo but it turn out to be a nice sized zoo for our little kids. They enjoy all of the exhibits. Their new aquarium it's gorgeous. And I personally love all the reptile specially black forest anaconda, what a beauty!
I love this place. Although they dont have all animals but you gonna enjoy your day
Kids and I had a great time as a family coming here for the end of the summer field trip. Any day is good to go. But on Wednesday it's free and it's .50 cents to get food for the animals to feed.
Loved it! Food is good minus veggie burger. Awesome animals and regionally categorized.
Great place to come and have a fun day
It's a small zoo, even smaller than the one in Prospect Park, but my kids and I enjoyed our visit. It was very chilly out but most of the exhibits were indoors, so it is a good spot to go to in the winter with kids, qspecially if they love a animals. The employees were nice and very kind to the animals they take care of. It's a small zoo, even smaller than the one in Prospect Park, but my kids and I enjoyed our visit.
Great for kids. Not too big that you'll get lost by everything and just small enough that you won't feel bad shopping something.
One of the zoos of New York City and I suspect one of the lesser known. Most people take the ferry to Staten Island and take it right back, but this small zoo is definitely worth staying on the island for an extra two hours. Especially the house with its Reptile, Africa and Tropical wing as well as the center Aquarium (all in the same building) are an almost hidden gem you rarely find mentioned in the numerous New York booklets.
Small zoo but many neat animals.
I dont like it at all they dont have much animals at all i like the Bronx zoo better they have all the animals in the bronx zoo i only saw birds snakes fishes and Tiger and monkeys and llamas and sheep i suggest yall dont go there
Zoo is perfect for the family. My 2 year old daughter loved it! The indoor aquarium and reptiles were our favorite part.
We are members here. It is a very small zoo. I think more for ages 12 and younger. We often go there since my kids love animals. Also, they have wonderful programs. Last year my older daughter went there for summer camp and she had a blast. This year she wants to go again. Since when you are a member the programs are cheaper it just makes sense to become a member. The photo I added is the one she took. I think it is a similiar activity as taking them to park. There is also a part where they can feed some animals and even pet them.
The zoo is clean and well maintained, they make use of the small area that they have. The aquarium was recently re done and looks nice.
Took my 2 year old grandson. He loved it! It's kinda small but not crowded so you can take your time at each exhibit. Petting area with goats and sheep is really nice.
Nice to visit but sometimes they put animals in too small an enclosure just to put them on exhibit
Really nice place to take kids for fun and learn. Not too big like Bronx zoo that you will get tried by walk from one place to another. Best of all the places are awesome and affordable.
This zoo improved so much! I've been going since I was a little girl. My husband and I now take our three kids. It is always a very nice good family time, I LOVE it<3
Loved it! My kids had a wonderful time, what I liked the most were that you could see the animals very close, also you can interact with sheep and goats, feed them and ped them, for $3 per person. Definitely would go back again.
Perfect place to take the kids on a nice day..clean..mostly all of the animals are out..it was a hot day so the tiger we really couldn't see..he or she was in the bushes.. The parking lot seemed to be full but in the zoo it self it was enough room for everyone to see the display of the animals..wide open walkways and handicap friendly
Had a trip with my daughters 5th grade class. Don't know why but this is more for smaller kids. Not a lot to see. For younger kids it's fine.
Excellent for a family afternoon trip. Clean and we'll maintained.

Is great first is free in wednesday is no faraway to us is excellent...
Great place love the zoo
Was such a nice relaxing place perfect for little children
Great family zoo for a low price.
We love this little zoo. Fun at every corner. It is small so dont count on spending a while day here. It is great for a morning or afternoon of fun.
So cute and simple enough to navigate.
1st time it was nice ..i think they should have more little kiddy stuff or rides but for the price is perfect
It is awesome except it’s peacoks because I took a picture of it and it just snatched my bag that I was holding and ripped it to shreds 2017
Closed for some private event without letting us know even they have official website and I read it carefully but there are no specific notification as far as with my understanding is normal. Other places generously let us know these cases and it was very helpful.
A small zoo with a decent showing of small animals and reptiles.
Clean love it plus the peacocks walk around
It's small but it's good for young children. Beautiful scenery and well kept animals.
The zoo is a nice outing. Free on Wednesday if you give a donation (not really free), any amount donation will do though so it’s really a pay what you want deal. Good for kids. It is a small zoo.
My son loves to visit the dinosaur staues, the bats, the snakes, the alligators, the sheep the goats, and the little mice from the African desserts.
Very cool place! Really enjoyed my visit here with my family.
Kids always have a great time here
Staten Island Zoo is the very BEST Zoo! Not big not small just perfect!!! My favorite Zoo since we discovered it 6 years ago. My 9 year old daughter has been going each year since she was 3 years old. Her favorite is the petting Zoo where she has the chance to get close to the Sheep and the Goats by hand feeding them. If you ask me about my favorite thing there, I would have a hard time telling you as I really like EVERYTHING there!!! The very best Zoo. We always leave with a smile on our faces!!! Thank you Staten Island Zoo for keeping it so enjoyable and pleasant for all!!
It's a charming zoo,
Nice little zoo. Clove lakes park is across the street as well.
Lovely, well maintained, well staffed zoo with a good collection of reptiles, including what I think they said was the largest collection of rattlesnakes on the east coast. Some of them are real beauties, like one that is native only to Catalina Island. Small and easily consumable without feeling like a gimmick, as the Central Park Zoo sometimes can. On a nice day makes for a great trip.
Inexpensive entrance fee. Not crowded. Excellent petting area for young kids. Plan for about 3 hours to see everything. Free parking.
What a nice small zoo, we went with our 3 year old son and he loved it.
Nice little zoo, not too over whelming, great for toddlers & their little feet, no complaints about walking too much either. They have a parking lot at the clove road entrance, but there is always plenty of street parking right in front of the zoo.
Great cheap stop to do something different while in New York. pop over to Staten island. It takes about an hour hour-and-a-half to walk to the whole thing and not miss anything
My kids love coming for a quick something to do. Best time to go is about 4pm to close...all the animals are being fed and sometimes you get to talk to the zookeepers about the animals. Very educational and fun.
One of NYC's and Staten Island's hidden treasures. Full of surprises!
Its a nice zoo my kids loved it there is a lot of Animals. We also wen on Turtle Day and there was even more actives for kids.
Sweet and small zoo. Easily done in four hours or less.
It's been years I haven't been here & will be returning again. This zoo is so much better than prospect park zoo.
It was perfect for my two kids 3/5 years old, we loved this place!! We drove from Jersey!
Grandkids enjoyed it! That's what really counts. Place is a little beat. Let's of things for the kids to look at.
Spend the day or even a handful of hours enjoying the beautiful picturesque environment. Feed the animals with children is always fun. Learn about all that's available.
Who says small zoos can''t be good? I really enjoyed my time at this zoo and it has some really cool animals you wouldn't be able to find in other zoos on the East Coast. I got to see a cassowary for the first time, along with some klipspringers. The main building is definitely my favorite part with a mini aquarium, and three other wings for reptiles, Africa, and the rainforest. The children's zoo is also nice and the Amur leopard exhibit is beautiful. It may live in the shadow of the Bronx Zoo, but this is a really nice zoo.
Great zoo wide variety of animals. The gift shop is super small nd doesn't have a lot of variety.
Nice spot in the middle of the city!
Decent little zoo. Really expected more from the new aquarium section. It took so long to build and I think it's smaller than the old set up.
Nice grounds but it always seems there's construction going on. Petting zoo is Very Nice for young children and adults.
It was a very nice to take my daughter they had more animals then I thought
Always a great place to learn about our earths animals. They all look well taken care of and lots of fun! We were able to touch a gentle snake. Loved it!!!
Good for 2 hours no more.
Great place for kids.
Used to visit this zoo when i was a kid now i take my own kids. It has new areas and new habitants. My kids love it and i enjoy it my self! Free parking!
Great place for young and old alike
My son really enjoyed himself and you get to be real close to the animals
I feel slightly bad about rating it this low, they had wonderful creatures here and even though it was small it was fun to see the animals. My problems begin with the employees, for example, my friend and I wanted a discount because we were CUNY students, however the cashier denied us our discount and made us pay full price for the tickets. In addition there was construction being done and some of we're a nightmare to walk through. Finally the workers just looked miserable, possibly due to mismanagement.
Good place for kids lots of anamals
I use to visit all the time when I was a kid. It's a fun place to spend the day and even more fun on a school trip. Keeps kids entertained very well.
pretty cool zoo, the kids loved it. we had a great time. saw some interesting looking animals. it was a great atmosphere
Perfect place for relaxing, introducing animals world to kids!
This zoo has come a long way from when I first visited many years ago. Such a nice day and experience. The staff are nice and very knowledgeable.
My son hated the zoo. It's so small and smells strongly of urine in many locations within the zoo. The aquarium was terribly disappointing. Small and less exciting than what was already there. He didn't even want to stay. Waste of money.
Small but entertaining enough for little children
My kids love this zoo and aquarium and food aria
Nice place to go with the family. Also a good spot to do some photography.
