Really cool. Staff is really friendly and knowledgeable on the insects. Butterfly room makes the whole trip worth it.! Kinda small.
My son loved it, which is what matters most. The butterfly room was incredibly beautiful. The building itself could use some TLC but everything else was great!
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. There is a great variety of bugs, insects and other critters. The staff happily offered guests the hold the friendlier creatures. The butterfly garden is a separate charge, but absolutely worth experiencing. I hope to go back again soon.
Was expecting more, there was literally no staff on the reptiles area and sadly saw a couple of dead butterflies on the pavilion, needs maintenance but it was nice went with my 10 month old daughter and she seemed to like it.
My daughter adored this museum, she had a chance to hold the reptiles and bugs. Was definitely a great place to visit if you or your children have a love for insects.
Wonderful way for my LO to discover the fun of science and nature first hand. Very affordable. Well-maintained exhibits. Adorable Cafe and on-site parking. Very friendly staff. Fun for ages 3 to preteen.
Great place for adults and children
Fun place to visit and interesting facts shared by the employees
Those butterflies are gorgeous! And so many of them. And lizard petting, too!
It is interesting but in need of much work. Many displays are not open but what is there is interesting. The staff members are great. They actively work to engage the kids and are quick to let them pet certain animals and some bugs. Sadly most of the groups of kids are left to run, scream and wrestle; so others must visit around their antics.
Staff was very knowledgeable on the insect section. They even take some out to see up close. Definitely save the butterfly section for the end. It was fantastic!! That section is was very well done.
Nice little place to take the kids for a bit.
There is NO HANDICAP ACCESS to the 2nd and 3rd floors so I could only see the Butterfly Pavilion. The Butterfly Pavilion was AWESOME. Verry Disapointed that I paid to come here with my family and had to sit on the sidelines while everyone else enjoyed the tour, and I was only able to see the gift shop Butterflys and the enterance. The staff was verry nice. But this place is not Handicap friendly. If you have any mobility issues this is not the place for you.
Great adventure and learning experience for kids and adults. Get there early to park in the lot but be forewarned, the lot is full if pot holes and not paved.
Amazing little museum! Looking forward to my next visit! Got some fantastic photos and loved seeing all of the insects, reptiles, and arachnids.
This was the first time we've been here since they redid it and added the butterflies. My daughter loved it. The people that worked there were so friendly and let my daughter touch and learn about some new creatures.
Cute place but very small and some of the insects were missing from their habitats which was a little disappointing. Aside from that, the butterfly pavilion was magical! So much fun being able to interact with the butterflies up close. Good place to pass the time.
I would highly recommend this incredible experience. We took our grandchildren and it was amazing. The entire staff is marvelous and were always available to help and answer any questions we had.
My husband and I stopped in here back in November, we were greeted as soon as we walked, the staff was very friendly, nice, and informative. The lobby/storefront was very nicely done, we were directed to the stairs and made our way up to second floor which housed the educational area but mostly it was empty (not many exhibits, looked to be under maintenance and repair), what was there was pretty cool though, there was a live bee hive and a small room with "unbelievable, extraordinary animals/insects" (alive and dead). Up on the top floor was where most of the exhibits were and we loved almost everything about it, except there were dead frogs in the frog tank and it smelled so awful, there were 2 staff members up there behind the windows, just chilling not really caring about it. Besides the dead frogs, the other exhibits were really cool, lots of spiders, which my husband loved as well as a few reptiles and very cool insects. We made our way to the butterfly pavilion section and upon entering it was beautiful, a few butterflies fluttering around, but as we kept walking there seemed to be a lot of dead ones on the ground, some with wings missing or broken. I did get a kick out of the live display behind the window with active cocoons, some with butterflies emerging. There was also a really cool little path with some pitcher plants and mirrors on the ceiling. All in all, I would go back once they finish fixing the place up, but for the cost I'm not really upset about it
Very interesting place... my son and my dad loved the place... dont miss it.2 hrs of good learning time
The indoor butterfly pavilion was a really cool experience; I could hang out there all day. We went on a Thursday afternoon, and we had the whole place to ourselves. While I enjoyed having so much privacy, more people definitely need to hear about this place so they can expand and improve the butterfly pavilion! They have other insect exhibits too in some rooms upstairs, but definitely not the main attraction in my opinion. There’s also a cafe inside which smelt amazing, but we didn’t eat there so I can’t rate the food at all.
A.maz ing. Absolutely love it
We had a wonderful experience. I loved the butterfly section. Absolutely Beautiful. Great Music and wonderful staff.
The kids and I had a blast! I've never seen them so excited about bugs!
Very nice place. Staff was very friendly
Cool place to see
Such a cool place to spend time. With all the different insects to discover and learn something new you get to walk in beautifuly painted theme rooms where kids can actually play around. Definitely coming back.
This place is great and needs all the support, great for kids or a cool date.
I drove by this place a dozen times and never thought it was a planetarium. I found it on Groupon and decided to check it out. It looks small but has enough to enjoy with your kids. Other than butterflies they have spiders, fish and frogs. We had lots of fun. We’ll be back
I went for the first time today and it was peaceful and stress free. I loved it.
Really fun place and cheap too! Great for kids and adults!
Butterflies are beautiful & very people friendly. There are a few other exhibits upstairs, but not much. If you have an access card, you pay $2.00 admission (for you & 3 children).
Our tour guide was very informative and the butterfly pavilion was beautiful. Plus I got a chance to hold a snake!!
Pulling up, I was a bit underwhelmed, I was expecting a larger facility but turned out to be a very neat experience! I definitely recommend doing the bugs/upstairs before the butterfly pavilion!! My kiddos enjoyed the iguana slide (though I did feel bad for the iguana- that's alot of noise), the bees and the scorpions. The 3rd floor spiders, cockroaches and shrimp were cool. I was shocked at how inaccessible the area was - stairs only...a bit challenging with a stroller and I can only imagine would be impossible with a wheelchair. The butterfly pavilion was awesome! They had just released butterflies before we got there and more while we were there which was so awesome! The staff was friendly and super informative. I do wish someone would have reviewed the rules with patrons more clearly - a young boy kept touching the butterflies injuring at least one.
The people there were very friendly
Its very neatly maintained. All exhibits are labelled. Takes about an hour or two to go around.
This place was a nice trip with my wife and 3 year old daughter who loves bugs, they have quite a collection of live live and preserved insects, a live bee hive display some reptiles and fish. The butterfly room is very nice and was well populated when we went. It's perhaps in need of some sprucing up, or updating though I'm sure it's a select crowd that comes, and some staff was there but could be more interactive and engaging, thus not the full 5, but we'd go back.
We loves the butterfly pavillon.
Great educational experience and fabulous ficus tree when you walk in.
Got a good deal on a hidden gem. Small location with 3 floors of bug themed exhibits. Good for smaller kids. There's a 7000sf butterfly pavilion that the kids really enjoyed. Free on site parking. It's probably about a 1.5-2 adventure. There's a cafe, small gift shop and you can host kids parties there. Look for significant discounts on Groupon/ Living social.
Staff are amazing. Informed and able to answer all questions. Beautiful and peaceful pavillion.
Cool place.
The insectarium is a wonderful place to learn about insects, various amphibians, and butterflies. They have a great tree fort area with a slide through an iguana exhibit. My kids loved it! It's a small museum with somewhat limited exhibits but it's perfect for young children and people who are interested in leaving more about bugs!
Good place to take the kids if they love insects. The museum has alot of things to see and do. The butterfly pavilion was a big hit with the kids. There is a small cafe and a lunch room with plenty of seating. Lots of off road parking as well. You won't need a stroller. Everything is up stairs in the building.
The insectarium is a fun place to visit with the kids. The store has a large selection of do it yourself pest removal items. Employees are knowledgeable and helpful.
I found this place on Groupon..and i must say it was totally worth it! I road pass here so many time and never knew! Lol Great place to take the kiddos
They charged me 4 times the amount home Depot charges for roach spray
This place is a hidden gem! We got a pass from our local library and there is a free parking lot which is a bonus. My 4 year old twins had so much fun looking at all of the different insects/bugs and we learned a lot. There is a little play area next to the iguana cage which is really cool. The employees are very knowledgeable and will let you look at or hold some of the bugs if you wish. The butterfly room is a cool experience as well. There is a little cafe that makes great smoothies and a gift shop with reasonably priced gifts!
Love the new butterfly pavilion it's very interesting with all different display of insects ...
Went for a school trip. Excellent staff and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. Educational and interesting! Highly recommend.
It was my second field trip to the insectarium today. Although it's not your typical new and shiny museum, this place is pretty cool. They have tour guides that teach the kids all different kinds of insects. They engage with the kids and get them to ask questions. It's a fun experience for both children and parents. It's not crowded and the best part of this place is the butterfly pavilion!!! They also have really cool insect souvenir. It's worth checking it out.
Really great tour and interesting organisms. The cafe has great juices and smoothies.
We took our 12 year old twin boys and a few of their friends. It's a cute little place but maybe more suited towards kids just a bit younger. The collection was a bit sparse but my understanding is that they were recently robbed of a bunch of bugs & reptiles so I guess that explains it. I wish there had been a few employees around to talk to the kids about the displays but we didn't see a single employee except for the guy we purchased our tickets from so that was kinda disappointing, my son was really hoping to be able to hold a spider. Overall I guess it's not a bad place to kill about 2 hours.
The butterfly area was nice but insectarium was pretty much empty with little live insects. A bit overpriced for what it’s worth
I myself am very freaked out by most things in the Insectarium. but they are extremely helpful with identifying things unknown or never seen by the human eye. once I had a situation, insect situation (something I only always thought was a [bed] time saying), the Insectarium were the only ones with the right solution to eliminate the problem. They were able to identify by the size, and color of them, just how long they've been there, and how many it could be. they are the most helpful, and the fact that I have intelligent scientist this close to home. Helping to identify, understand well about their surroundings; certain things are there for a reason. People can become less afraid in understanding what most insects, bugs, snakes, or even butterflies populate certain areas for. You'd know what they do for the economic system. everything is here for a reason so I truly love their knowledge. my children went and they truly love them
Its different, lots of bugs, n things
A fantastic place to take the kids and adults
Found this jawn on Groupon. Good experience for the kids. Went through the butterfly exhibit, not too many flying around but the ones that were was cool. Landed on me a couple times too and hung around as we walked through the exhibit. Good smoothie section too, full of snacks.
Lovely place that hosts some cool events. A lot of the exhibits seem to not be fully set up yet but look promising
This place is absolutely amazing! The staff is very knowledgeable and were exceptionally patient and kind with all six kids we brought with us. They allowed our kids to touch and hold all sorts of creatures! The all loved the experience. A couple of them were helped to overcome their fears after watching the other kids. This is our second visit. They have really updated things. I was allergic to the carpet they had last time, but they replaced it. I didn't have any reaction this time. They also have free parking! That's a huge plus for a large family. You must go and experience it. It's addictive. Holding a tarantula was always on my bucket list. If you hold a gecko, I warn you, you'll want one.... just go.. You won't regret it!
VERY kid friendly! Good cafe too.
For kids it's great, for adults not so much.
Prices are a bit high for a self guided tour place. However the staff is quite helpful if you run into them and will take out certain animals for a "closer look"
It was such a beautiful atmosphere for an Art Exhibit. The volunteers were so friendly and informative. They had a great inventory filled with butterfly wing necklaces, bones, and other odd, but really awesome mementos. My 7 year old loved it!
Loved the place. It's small but the trip was well worth it. Kids can touch the butterflies and insects.. and my kid just loved that. The staff is so friendly .. u can see the joy they get when they are showing the insects to the kids.. amazing. Was well worth the price we paid, my kid is still talking about how she touched all the insects and is no longer scared of spiders!
Very cool. Butterflies were so beautiful. The insects and arthropods we're so interesting. Facility looks like renovations or new exhibits are being planned... definitely will visit again! - a Mom, Dad, and 8 and 11 year old sons.
I think it's nice what they're trying to do with this museum. However, for me it was just ok. My son however, thought it was great. Not a waste, but definitely could use more... Just more. I did like the butterfly area though.
This was our first time visiting and our family (2 parents and a six year old) had a great time. We spent a solid few hours there, the exhibits were varied and well thought out, and as we went on a local flavor certificate it was extremely reasonable cost wise. Will go again!
Cute place and great stuff. The butterfly Pavilion was amazing! My kids had a blast. Price isn't bad. I imagine they are still trying to build up their collection since the robbery so be patient if some displays are still being worked on. I hope they get enough support to build back their collection again. Still worth the trip, come out and support them.
We love this place! Everyone is wonderful and so are the exhibits. Kevin walked my daughter through all the insects and reptiles and shared fun facts and information on each.
A nice sized space for it to be located in the city. There were a lot of different types of butterflies. It looks and feels like a greenhouse so take that into account. There were information about the butterflies and the plants that were present. A good leaning experience for children and adults
This was an unexpectedly fantastic experience. I was coerced into going with my nephew, and I was prepared for a boring time. However, thanks to Kelvin, the experience was above and beyond what I would've ever expected. Kelvin pays particular attention to detail, especially when entertaining both children and adults. His knowledge on all the living things inside (and outside) was indeed the star of the show. I've been to plenty of zoo's but I've never seen someone so inherently in touch with nature, and all that inhabits it. In addition to beautiful Butterflies on the first-floor pavilion, there is also a crazy cool collection of live reptiles, fish, and even some bugs! I highly recommend this for anyone of all ages. I especially recommend seeking out Kelvin as he'll be sure to make the experience even that much better.
Great place for children to learn and explore. Very friendly staff and the butterfly garden is amazing. Birthday parties too. Be sure to check it out
The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable
I love this place. That's kind of biased since I was an intern here, but it's seriously amazing and I didn't know that it existed for a long time. They have so many different animal from reptiles, to insects and arachnids and a ton of butterflies! It's great for young kids and adults. Everyone will find something here that they like. I am away at college, but I still visit every time that I go home.
Truly horrible. Don't waste your money!
Fun and interesting. When they opened some cages to feed the insects and frogs, it was real cool.
I have a thing for butterflies so that is the reason for my visit. When you come in you are greated by the cashier inside of the Insectarium store. There are lots of souvenirs to remember your visit. To the right there is a set of stairs that leads you to the other levels. There are 3 floors in total. You'll find lots of spiders and snakes, some stick insects, iguanas, a black light room for viewing insects that glow in the dark, and more. The first floor was my favorite as it showcased the butterfly pavilion. The butterfly pavilion houses many varieties of butterflies. There were lots of plants and trees and even a pool of sorts and a waterball fountain which I fought myself not to touch. The butterflies fly all around you and some may even land on you. There is a small sitting area in the pavilion which is great for parents and grandparents whom would prefer to sit while their child explored...you can keep an eye on the little ones very easily from this seating area. It was a great trip for me and I'm sure you will also enjoy it. I almost forgot...there is also a party room. I think this would be a great place for a small childs party. I included a pic of the room. There is also a cafe which is small but cute. I did not eat there so I'm not sure what they serve but its worth a looksy if you happen to go
We had a great time here at a birthday party. Our guide, Allison, was wonderful with the kids - very patient and spoke to the kids at their level without being condescending. We loved the butterflies, but also had a great time seeing the test of the museum. It's much cleaner and better kept than it was when I was here 4 years ago. Plus, the parking lot makes things much easier as well! We'll definitely be back.
Had a fun time as a family outing. Three different levels of insects, reptiles and a few fish. Wish they did have some more interactive exhibits or staff with reptiles out but we were there early. The butterfly garden was truly amazing tho.
Great little field trip
Everything was very interested there. Had a good time and comes highly recommend.
Awesome place and lovely, helpful people! a little tropical oasis in the front range desert!
Not there. Another store on same block.
Fun place, I found this really cool tan spider and brought it back home with me! Loves cuddles and watching me move throughout the house now. Thanks for the memories!
Awesome place for children to learn and see and touch. The place is small so prepare for that and public parking while some are metered. They book birthdays!
A little outdated. No elevators. But clean and cheap fun for the kids
I always have a good time there. It is not expensive. Every time I go, I notice something else they updated. The staff is always respectful and nice. With two boys we go once a year. And then today's 'Take Flight' event, great people ran this event. The Bee Guy got stung on purpose to show the kids the stinger. That's dedication.
What a lovely gem. We took our 3 and 9 year old here today. We had such a nice visit. I didn't know what to expect but was very surprised. The butterfly garden was spacious and there were many different types of butterflies flying all over the area. I just can't say enough about how wonderful the staff was. There were so many people working and willing to help, educate us or take out an exhibit and let us touch it. If you haven't been here you should go. The price is very reasonable and even better with a groupon.
I loved the butterflys, they were beautiful . However being that I really dont like bugs, I have to endure it for the children!
Was a wonderful surprise! My 4 year old boy was fascinated with the insects and reptiles. Was completely caught off guard by the butterfly pavilion, it's amazing!
Took our 4th graders for a fantastic field trip. Great guide and facility.
It should be a great educational trip for children during the school year. Kids just want to have fun after learning throughout the school year. Kids were losing interest sitting down learning about bugs. They enjoyed roaming around and a few even touched but it was okay.
The butterfly room is filled with so many beautiful butterflies, very relaxing
Fun place. My 2 year old loved it. Wife took lots of pictures.
I dont like bugs, but the kids do. Cool little museum, but the butterfly garden was magical and worth the admittance fee!
What a organization .....incredible amount of work and ingenuity....purely creative approach way better than the lackluster gig that preceded it
Not a lot of butterflies this time.
Beautiful butterfly garden, fantastic staff, amazing experience for my four year old nephew.
No elevator, so I had to carry my baby the whole time. Not great display of bugs - up high in small aquariums hard for toddler to see.
Really nice Great butterfly room Plant needs updating
Great for kids.
Three floors of living insects and reptiles with a few deceased creatures under glass. Brave visitors can hold a live tarantula, scorpion and/or hissing cockroach; the tentative can just touch them while a working volunteer holds them; or the fearfully curious can simply stand nearby. The butterfly pavilion is full of friendly beauties who enjoy hitching rides on passing strangers. Both areas can be toured at your own pace.
Great option for children's birthday celebrations!
Three floors of bugs reptiles and butterflies and a snack bar
I took my 1 year old here. For her age group she enjoyed it. Its a very small exhibit but it was very clean and a cool day trip for the summer months. Nice staff!
Cool insects a lot smaller than I remember. Parking was kind of nuts, the lot fills quickly.
Very cool place, especially for kids. They have a good amount of reptiles too, although some could use a bit more space (like their snapping turtle). The butterfly Pavillion is nice but the number of butterflies varies considerably. Some days you might only see seven, while other days you can see dozens. The 2nd floor as armadillos scampering about.
This was a neat place to spend an hour or so! There are a lot more interesting creatures on display than I expected, and my son plus us adults really enjoyed looking around and examining them all. We visit the butterfly atrium at Hershey Gardens all the time, so seeing the butterflies was nothing new, but they are more lenient here/less supervised, even allowing visitors to hold their hands out for butterflies to land on. Overall, the place looks like it could use a deep cleanse, and it doesn't have a very slick, commercialized appeal, but there's a nice variety and the exhibits themselves seem well cared for.
Absolutely like a hidden gem! Locals I went with lived in Philadelphia for more the 15 years and didn’t know about this place! They host birthday parties or just daily visitors. Fantastic cafe that have fresh smoothies made to order or children’s snacks. If you gave never held butterflies your dream will come true. My children had so much fun that we spent 3 hours inside.
Amazing place cheap admission. All the staff are very nice and has a lot of knowledge of everything there
It was awesome! I love how patient the staff was explaining the name and type of insects.
Different, loved the different types of butterfly's. Be warned only the butterfly garden is wheelchair accessible.
We live close by so it's cool to have a place like this in the neighborhood. My 6yo is a huge insect and reptile lover so this just give him a chance to explore them even more. Especially when they let him hold and pet the differant creatures, and the staff are very knowledgable. My toddler thinks he's in a magical place everytime he steps into the butterfly pavilion
I give them a B+ for effort. The idea is a good one, but it needs better execution. This is a three story building, and I didn't notice an elevator for the disabled. The carpets are old and dirty, and several of the exhibit cages were empty. On the positive side, the staff was quite friendly and informative. The have many things to see and are grouped according to the floor. The highlight for me was the enclosed butterfly exhibit. Found it on Groupon and for what we paid, it was acceptable. Clean up your act and get your best review!! P.S.- My daughter in law enjoyed the cafe.
Very informative and friendly staff.
It's a very exciting experience!
Great collection and definitely entertaining for children. Adults looking for more details should definitely seek a tour. Only downside is not wheelchair accessible.
Butterfly room's great & they have some other cool insects, lizards, snakes, frogs, etc. The snack shop makes great smoothies! It's a nice small museum which we go to frequently.
Really cool place to take your kids. Get a groupon and stop by the rainforest cafe for some great smoothies.
I love it a great learning experience
As a big nature enthusiast without children, I found the insectarium to be a dissappointment. It's really geared towards kids. Just a warning for other adults without kids who have a biological interest and want to learn about insects and the other species there. There are some cool things, like the bee hive and butterfly pupa hatching area, but little explanation as to what you are seeing. Many educational opportunities missed there. Lots of interesting species but many without labels so you don't know what they are, while other displays have fallen into disrepair, missing information that was once there. Very few employees to ask questions to. With a larger budget, this place could shine. I was hoping for a gift shop full of interesting educational items but it was mostly kitschy plastic butterflies.
Great place to take kids. The butterfly room is like stepping into a forest/jungle the butterflies will actually land on you
Awesome I have brought all of my grandchildren here.
Took my little guy here last week. Waaaaay over priced! The butterfly pavilion was nice, but there's not much to see outside of that. The second floor is virtually empty, and the 3rd floor has the same things you could go to an aquarium store and see for free. Not worth the money.
A unique experience and love the touch floor
This place is a good experience for younger children. The workers are outgoing, informative, and helpful. The butterfly pavilion was pretty neat, though the music was a tad loud and not relaxing at all. The insect exhibits were varied and exotic. However, my primary complaint is that the building is old and in need of updating. The painted tires in the parking lot aren’t exactly a nice touch for today’s day and age.
My kids loved it. Definitely recommend it
Such a great time. The kids loved the butterfly pavilion as did the adults. The employees we all super nice and helpful. We got to have one on one experiences with butterflies and a gecko. Will definitely reccomend and re visit!
This place is so cool. Great place to take the little ones in the weekend
Wonderful insectarium with plenty of reptiles as well. The curator was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and let us interact with lots of creatures. Highly recommend!
It was just the right size. Staff was very friendly and informative, Would go again.
Fun for preschool kids
Love the place. The kids had alot of fun
The nocturne display was really cool and the BUTTERFLY garden was so pretty and peaceful
It's was interesting. Not gonna lie, I did see a few DEAD BUTTERFLIES but I guess it was alright.
Great for both kids and adults! The butterfly pavilion showing live cacoons growing in stages to a butterfly was super cool. It was actually like a science lesson with all the information provided right there with each live creature.
My Youngest daughter had a field trip here an I suggest any 1 with children let there child experience that
Nice museum. Small and better for young kids or groups. We had a nice time and enjoyed the butterfly pavillion but we finished everything in just over an hour. A definite must see on the list of NE Philly things to do. The cafe was a little pricey but the vietnamese coffee was worth waiting for and the chocolate smoothie was decadent. Nice that you can go to the cafe without visiting the museum.
Amazing place! The butterfly pavilion is magical. The exhibits are very interesting. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Kids got to see and hold many exotic animals. I don't enjoy insects but the butterfly room was tolerable for me. My boys loved it and are asking to go back. Parking lot is a bonus.
Great place to take your kids and if you like this kind of thing it's a pretty neat place to go out on a date at
Need to add handheld feeders and more butterflys
Nice "neighborhood" museum with some interesting exhibits, but it's showing it's age. Still fun for kids and the butterflies are beautiful.
Wonderful place for children and adults. Very engaging!
All the staff was really friendly besides this one worker. I asked her if we could touch any of the spiders and she was very rude and said she was busy. I really like all the variety of bugs and reptiles. I had a great time in the butterfly pavalion. I loved all the plants and the butterflies were beautiful.
Very interesting place to spend time with the family. Bugs for the youngest son, reptiles for the oldest son. Butterflies and plants for the love of my life.......It was her idea........stop by the Sweet Rainforest for the best natural smoothies and tea I have ever had!
Very fun place. People who work there are knowledgeable and kind. Packed during the oddities event.
The new owners have added the great butterfly exhibit. Beautiful plants & butterflies flying everywhere. Nice. They cleaned up the old place & added many nice exhibits. However, I for one, definitely missed the fantastic. Impactful cockroach exhibit on the 2nd floor. They said its gone forever but they should bring it back. Of all exhibits I've seen in museums, I never forgot the roaches.
Very helpful staff! One staff member got out a a gecko and an albino corn snake for us to pet. Another staff member showed us beetles in various stages of the life cycle. Butterfly pavilion is wondrous, but super humid! Wear layers, so you can peel one off when you go into the butterfly room.
I was quite disappointed on my recent visit. This is our 2nd time. First time we went was same time last year and we had a good time. Spent 2 hrs- kids loved the play area, and we all loved the butterfly pavilion. There were so many butterflies. Yesterday 11/16/18, we only spent about 30 minutes. I realize they lost some critters during the robbery, but I expected to at least enjoy the butterfly pavilion and I was lucky if we saw 7 of them, And I honestly do not know what was done during this supposed 2 month renovation. I see no improvements aside from some fresh paint. My kids have been looking forward to going back for a while, my hsuband even took off from work. If it were not for the fact that I bought a Groupon, I would have been livid for paying money for that. I will not be going back. Its like they are not even trying at this point.
Was at work with my our clients and they were so excited, so was i. It was beautiful with the pretty butterflies flying around you as you walk through.
It was ok wasnt worrh the ride but overall the kids enjoyed
Really cool. The upstairs is more family geared but if you like bugs it's cool. The rear area is the butterfly exhibit. Open space with smooth jazz and free flying butterflies. Super chill vibe out there.
I visited this place with a group of my friends. The staff seem very amiable and they have an extensive collection, of different, amphibians, reptiles, insects, invertebrates, plants ,and arachnids. It is also very educational and has information on each display in regard to the animals. There butterfly room was nice however ,I expected more of them to be in the room . Also a certain degree of their animals were missing from a number of the exhibits. However ,I would still 100 %highly recommend coming here with both friends as well as family. This place even very kid oriented and will help to expand their horizons. I would definitely come back here again when they get more animals.
It was a nice museum, but many specimens were unmarked and not many butterflies in the pavilion.
Great for kids of all ages. Visited during the butterfly festival. There were a few butterflies flying around in a very warm and humid garden complete with a waterfall and live drum music playing in the background. There is a cafe with very good smoothies and gift shop. On the other floors, you can explore rooms exhibiting different spiders, snakes, and others bugs and insects. The kids seemed to enjoy the various activities and looking at the bugs. Was expecting a little more, especially for the price of admission, but a nice outing.
