This Zoo belongs to the category of Zoo.
Central Park Zoo is not the biggest zoo there is, but there are some animal species that are rarely seen elsewhere, such as penguins or snow lions. It's also very well maintained, animals look healthy and it doesn't take you a whole day to get around. Great place.
Convenient location. Quite small but seeing a snow leopard is always worth it.
One can see the animal outside while people watch. Every hour, one can see the clock animal moved which is fun for the children. If you are bore and want to see the zoo animal, it is only $14 to get in. Not bad unless you live in DC
Central Park is the best park in which I have been and I have been in a lot of different cities and parks but this one is absolutely amazing. It is really big and if you want to see the whole park it is a good idea to rent a bike. You can do that on every entry of the park from people who are giving bikes for rent and the price is great.
compact but very good variety, snow leopard and grizzliy etc
Nice zoo. Very busy. Great exhibits. Friendly staff. Nice photo ops. Kids loved it. Great for both old and young.
This is definitely the type of zoo that you won't have to spend the whole day in to see everything. It's definitely a good, "stop on the way" kind of place. The habitats appear to be well-maintained and everything has a nice proximity to one another.
Fun Palce to check out if you have around 4 or 5 hours to walk around and check out some interesting animals
Small but good place. Very few animals. So, if you are looking for so many animals only, check for other zoos as there are more. Aviary is the best and amazing place for sure.
Fell a little short of expectations. Thought there would be more animals... But the zoo is fun to visit if you've got nothing else to do and want more than a boring walk.
Nice little zoo. The animals look well cared for and the zoo is nice treasure to find in NYC
The zoo if definitely on the smaller side, but because it's located in Central Park it gives it so much more creditability. A must see if you have the time. You can see the whole park in less than 2 hours.
As a nanny in the city, this is one of my favorite go-to adventure spots with little ones. With penguins, bears, snow leopards, sea lions and many more fun animals, what more could you want for a zoo in the middle of Manhattan's Central Park? Well done design, and very easy to get around with a stroller. Cooling off in the 10-minute interactive ice age movie was a nice bonus, and so fun for myself and the children. Lastly, don't pass up your chance to see the Tishe children's zoo. It's always the kids' favorite part.
It's small but the design is very nice. The animals look good and well looked after.
I love this place. So much fun in one day. I was with my friends and we were watching the animals all day. You can see that they are doing good jobs and all of the animals are doing great. They are playing eating sleeping and looking for attention which is the most important part.
It was small for a Zoo, but the animals were all out and active, well the Grizzly Bears were out & taking naps in the sun. The Snow Leopards were great, one even caught a snack! We arrived at the feeding of the Harbor Seals & got a show! All around nice time!
Animals are well taken care of, which is I think the most important aspect. The Zoo itself is small but kept clean, not crowded at all. Absolutely recommend.
Fun to see the monkeys and tropic zone with wild birds even bats! Penguins are impressively fast swimmers and in an air conditioned room. The 4d movie is fun and short. Get there at opening hours and preferably on a weekday to avoid crowds. Check sea lion feeding schedule online. Cafe has decent park type food nice indoor and outdoor seating. Or bring a snack to enjoy on the benches around sea lion pool.
great if you want a afternoon with your child and dont want to trek to the bronx.
Very hot! Bring frozen bottles of water stay hydrated seals were the best. Missed the dear was too hot
A great place to spend with family, pretty nice area can go through the whole place in about 2-3 hrs, if you have a zoo membership you still need to pay for the 4d theater, but you do get a discount
My son's and my own first time to the Central Park Zoo and we had a blast. Great fun and awesome animals, this is something special that every family should experience
Greatest place for a first date ever. You will learn so much about a person by how they expeience this gem of a place.
Love a good zoo. This is a small one but is historically interesting and has some fun animals.
A pleasant little patch of nature in the City. Certainly not the greatest zoo ever but worth a visit if you want to do something different while exploring. Try to time it to see them feed the sea lions.
So many things to do. Awesome local entertainers just working for tips right outside in the park. The exhibits are great at the zoo
It’s good location for kids and lots of kids friendly animals. The areas are very clean and well maintained but little expensive I thought. Within the central part of the city, it’s very large area and very well planned for lots of trails, playgrounds and picnic areas. We have almost spent a day here and our kids enjoyed there
I love Central park zoo, because it is great place to enjoy animals world.
Nice relaxing environment and fun to learn about and watch the animals. The food isnt bad and the sea lion feeding show was fun to watch. Would recommend coming here but only enough content to enjoy for a few hours in my opinion.
A great zoo in the middle of NYC. I love this zoo. I've been coming for years. There are times I walk up at lunchtime at visit. Animals are more active during the colder weather.
Perfect for our 11mo old and 3yo. It's a small zoo with lots of kid interaction. Definitely purchase the complete encounter tickets for ($20 adults, or $15 kids, under 2 free). Our kids could walk the entire zoo. Our 3yo loved the 4D Ice Age movie experience and it was only ten minutes so it kept our 11mo olds attention. Great experience. You could spend the entire day in central park with the kids. There's multiple parks and areas to run.
Very cool for families. It is Better to teack the feeding hour of the sea lions... very cool
I like Central Park zoo because it is smaller than the Bronx zoo and it has a 4d theater.I liked the 4d theater. It was ice age
This review is purely personal preference. The zoo was much smaller than I had imagined and one area was missing the animal with not signing indicating as to why. Other then that it was an okay experience. Definitely prefer the Bronx Zoo.
This zoo is easily doable in about an hour. It’s hidden within Central Park. The zoo itself is a bit small, but I think $14 per adult is a reasonable price. Maybe I’ll come back when they get different animals. No lion, zebra, hippo, or giraffe like the movie Madagascar!
Great zoo! Quick visit and lots to see. The zoo was super clean and all the animals were out and visible. Would recommend checking it out.
Awesome zoo! I wish it was bigger especially for the price. They charge full price for half a zoo. Either way it was a great experience!
Nice for an afternoon visit just enough zoo to get your fix and your surrounded by the city so you can eat where you like.
Central Park Zoo is a great part of Central Park and is worth a visit. We went early to see the feeding of the penguins at 10.30am and the feeding of the sea lions at 11.30am. Seeing the sea lions get fed was the best part of the zoo visit so don't miss it! They've trained some of the seals to do various tricks and it does get busy so get there a few minutes early to get a good spot for taking photos. There are plenty of other animals at the zoo all worth looking at. Our trip was about 60-90 minutes so it doesn't take long to see everything.

Very cute zoo. Kids loved it and most importantly it is the actual zoo from the movie Madagascar. The entrance fee was affordable. The only downside is that it has very few animals since the size does not allow much.
Very cool place to see some animals you don't see very often. Right now, there's a snow leopard exhibit that's really good (as long as he's not sleeping). That animal walked right up to the fence, almost close enough to pet. Take a couple hours out of a Friday and check it out.
The park is amazing. It is really big so you won't be able to see everything in one day, but if you are leaving near the park you can go for a walk or run there so you will see most of it. The zoo is amazing and they are taking good care for the animals. The park is full with people all the time, even early in the morning.
Amazing enclosures that allow viewing the animals while they get to enjoy a nice environment. The zoo is quite small but totally worth a visit. Just the snow leopard exhibit justifies the visit.
The best highlights of the Bronx zoo. Amazing animals for such a small space. Must go
Such a relaxed place to visit its small but well worth the trip at the price
Loved the Red Pandas and The Snow Leopard. The inside tropical forest was cool too. Recommending to visit any time. The walk around the zoo by yourself takes about two hours if you skip the gift shop and restaurant!
Amazing zoo. Nice habitats for the animals and a beautiful spot to spend some time
It's a nice little zoo, but for being in the heart of Manhattan, I expected something bigger. Aside from that, the staff were friendly and helpful and the animals were cute.
Loved the Penguin exhibit. For a small zoo, liked the habitat for the animals we saw. We didn't stay for the seal show, but there were a lot of people lined up to watch it.
This is an ideal place to take young children. It is best visited on weekday mornings because it is a very popular place.
Small zoo. Fun to see the sea lions get fed. Not sure if it is worth the money. 4d show was short. Vending machine only has premium tickets, need to go to the window to buy basic admission.
Beautiful. Small enclosures though. The Tropic area was gorgeous.
Old fashioned zoo, very quaint and "old New York". Animals are well taken care of. Beautiful place.
The zoo is really small compared to the zoos I’m used to. If you have a 1-6 yr old Brooklyn zoo better for them
Great place well worth the money to go see what all they have there.
Small but so well maintained. The animals look well cared for.
This zoo was perfect for our family visit. Only a train ride away from Brooklyn. They served beer
Nice zoo. Smaller than I thought it would be, which is saying something. Still a nice walk, took us about 2 and a half hours to get through the whole zoo, including the little 4-D theater.
Central Park Zoo is conveniently located in the south-east of Central Park and the kids will love it. Especially if they know that this is the inspiration for the movie Madagascar. This zoo is spacious (given it is in NYC), well kept and the animals are well treated. And you can see so many animals there, including penguins, red pandas and snow monkeys. Thumbs up!
Well worth the price of the Total Experience ticket. Great to visit at opening to see the animals at their most active time. We love visiting this zoo in the winter because of the very warm Tropic Zone building and because many of the outside animals are very active in cool weather. 4D theater is a must but can be a scary experience for some small children.
Such a beautiful zoo! It may be small, but it is such a great experience. The animals you can tell are well taken care of. The gift is nice with something for everyone. Def recommend this place, even if you don't have kids, like us!
Time well spent here with the family. The animals are really cool. The penguins were my personal favourite. They give information about each species and it's a very interesting place if you like animals.
I am most definitely a Bronz Zoo girl born and raised there. This zoo is also nice, smaller though. So you can really see a lot on your day there. It's really well kept of course. A nice way to spend a day on your own or with friends. If your a loner you will most def enjoy your time here.
A nice little zoo that you only need to dedicate 2-3 hours to, rather than a whole day. The exhibits are nicely maintained and the animals seem healthy. Good range of animals given the size of the zoo.

Pricey for a family, but had some great exhibits and the 4D movie. It's always nice to have something like this that's accessible to so many people, right in the city, and just around the corner from a subway stop.
Pretty impressive zoo, I always wanted to visit the famous 'Central Park Zoo', and all the species that live there. You get the best experience in this small zoo by just enjoying the visit walking around with your family and friends or even just by yourself. I like to see the penguins and other exhibits like the topical area, the monkeys are very fun too.
Small Zoo but some great animals. Went when it was too hot both The Animals and myself so excited to go back in cooler weather
Nice place, but wet miss the polar bear. The lions marine are beautiful!!!
Small but interesting exhibits. Not enough space for some of the animals, though. Seeing the snow leopards is spectacular, but it engenders even more pity for these poor animals. Should they be there?
They packed all the necessities in one neat little zoo. It was clean and we'll put together. The sea lions are on point too, those guys and gals where putting on a show for everyone!
Red panda, snow leopards and penguins are worth seeing. Only around $20 for tickets.
Nice zoo right in the middle of NYC, has 4D animation show for kids. You can also goto central park from this zoo.
Did not like the zoo at all! Nothing to do in the zoo except look at animals. if you have children 6- they will get pretty bored at the zoo. Only fun thing to do is look at the animals and play games
The Central Park Zoo is something that shouldn’t be missed! It’s a destination you can do while visiting midtown Manhattan, Central Park or various other attractions in the area. Because of its size, you don’t need a lot of time to see all the exhibits. Part of the charm for me is the idea of visiting a small zoo with the immensity of Manhattan all around you. Despite what some say, the animals here are well-cared for—this is not some Bulgarian zoo with mistreated animals in squalid conditions. If you have some moral compunction about zoos, don’t take it out on this wonderful gem!
Very nice zoo. Wish the Grizzlies and snow leopard would have been out but the seals and penguin feedings were cool.
This was perfect for our group of 3-year-olds. It took us about 3 hours to get through everything, at a fairly relaxed pace. It’s a great half-day thing to do, or something to visit if you’re already at the park. Probably not super exciting for older kids, but all the bird enclosures were fun since the animals were right there with you.
A small zoo. Not a whole day's excursion but still a lovely place to stop during an exploration of Central Park. Would definitely recommend to any who enjoy the beauty of animals. In particular it was nice to watch the feeding of the sea lions and to see the snow leopard at the back area of the zoo.
A small but very nice zoo. Loved the penguins and the birds sections. Some sections were under construction, but I enjoyed what they had available. Well maintained and taken care of.
This place is exceptional and implacably. The @Central Park is a wonderful gate away for everything. A sculpture of arts made by gold in the middle of Manhattan
Kids love the Central Park zoo. Easy to walk, great location in Central Park, and just the right number of animals to keep the kids entertained for a couple of hours.
It’s so delightful to see such exotic creatures in the middle of midtown Manhattan, we highly recommend checking out the Central Park zoo.
2ed time going... Zoo is small bale to do the whole zoon in one cost. We did miss out on the feed of the barn animal cause they stop at 2 pm. But was able to see them.
Overpriced food. Rats everywhere. And the zoo was too small we managed to see everything in 20minutes. If you looking for a nice zoo make sure to check the Bronx one instead.
Cute little zoo. The animal exhibitions are fairly limited and the whole place can be covered in about an hour but still worth a visit to the iconic zoo.
I only went to the children's zoo this time but I enjoyed it. I also had chicken fingers and fries at their cafe and both were very good
It's very conveniently located in central park, easy access via subway. The zoo is well maintained and clean. However, is a very small zoo, very few animals, and the view us not ideal, snow leopards and bears are hard to see if they don't feel like showing themselves... Good thing it's located in central park, so you can always spend time there as well. The price seems high for the limited value.
Small zoo but very well kept and happy animals! Recommend a visit when in New York.
The Central Park Zoo was great! I was on a class trip with my son and his classmates in the first grade. We saw bears, birds, bats, and a menagerie of other critters that made for a fun day for a class outing and I consider myself fortunate to have tagged along. I would recommend it to anyone with a kid.
Great zoo that’s manageable for toddlers. The size is perfect for little ones to walk around. The sea lion feeding is great and kids really enjoyed watching that. The 4D movie which is included with admission is so pretty cool. Kids love the extra dimension and wished the movie was longer.
Beautiful. Fairly priced! Which was a pleasant surprise considering the inflated cost if everything else! Great day!
Small but charming and manageable with little kids. Lots of bathrooms. The penguins were a huge hit with my five year old!
Great little zoo. So clean and green. Lots of natural landscaping!! Not too big and not too small. And the price is just right!!
booked before going to new as several attractions to visit and glad we did. we had booked to do the rock tour later in the day which is not far from the park and this broke up the day. Received a warm welcome and their is a variety of animals to see even if some was sleeping as it was a nice warm September day. For the price paid I would highly recommend pay it a visit.
I love this zoo!! I love going through the rainforest area where the animals roam free! The 4D movie is worth the watch and it's always nice to see a zoo take such excellent care of their animals! :)
What a gem. We will definitely be back. The 4D movie is HIGHLY recommended! A lot of fun!

Super great for a little zoo! I loved walking around and seeing all the animals! It wasn't something I was expecting when walking through central park!
My toddler loved his time at the zoo. It’s a small city zoo but big enough to entertain toddlers for hours. You can also enjoy the mini close very close by where children can pet and feed the animals. It’s better to buy the tickets online as the line get long very quickly in the morning.
Great place to catch some animals. Small enough for a quick visit. Check out the sea lions being fed, and penguins.
This place was absolutely fantastic. I haven't been to a zoo since I was a child. I'm originally from Rochester New York and was out here on vacation with my girlfriend for about 5 days. So we decided to check out this is Zoo. It's a small Zoo but I'd like that because everything is close together and you don't have to walk really far. We were literally one of the first people in as we were in line before it opened. As soon as we got into the central Courtyard we were greeted by splashing seals they were extremely active all the animals were so that was nice we got to see the feeding of the penguins which was really fun. I definitely recommend this to anybody in the Central Park area the food is definitely decent for what it is a little expensive but it is what it is.
We really enjoyed the Central Park Zoo. Weren't expecting much, but it really delivered. It's a smallish zoo, but the animals were all visible, active, and healthy. The kids really loved the penguins and we all enjoyed the spectacle of the tropical rain forest birds.
Great view but i thought for 20$ i was gonna see more animals. But it was very clean and lots of plants.
Pretty, cozy and beautiful species in a very neat and clean facility. Loved it.
Good for one time visit. Take the tickets from Groupon to save a few bucks.
Small Zoo. Grizzly & Snow Leopard attractions are good.... Tropical forest too is good.... Hardly 1.5 to 2 hours to cover everything... Sea Lion attraction can be viewed without entering the Zoo :D
Lots of animals to see here. The sea lions are the best. A great place for children to visit
One of the Best Zoo's I have seen my lifetime.
One of NY best attractions - great experience for little ones :) and if you lucky you ll see beautiful animals
I go here as a painter to draw and paint the animals and the wildlife here is so beautiful. A must see for children and families and anyone with an eye for beauty
Great place to take pictures of the animals and their habitats. Some animals like the snow leopard or grizzly bears might not appear as frequently or at all but there are still plenty of other animals to check out. General admission is $20 but on the Central Park Zoo website you can get a 10% off coupon.
This is a wonderful zoo, and well worth visiting while going to museums nearby. My favorite spot in all of Manhattan as a child.
A day in the park with our classroom is always a treat. I love being a teacher. Over the years, I have come to Central Park Zoo and fall in love every time.
Nice for a quick outing. Nice for younger children. It is a nice zoo just very small so not many attractions.
It's a good place for sure. The seal tank is beautiful.
Beautiful, small zoo. Very cozy feeling. Plenty of exhibits and variety of animals to enjoy and look at. Good place to spend a couple hours. Excellent location right in Central Park. Cheap price and definitely worth a visit
I spent much of my youth in this park in the 1960's. It was wonderful and peaceful. We brought picnic lunches and lounged on the rocks. If I remember correctly, we climbed the bronze statues (Alice in Wonderland, if I am not mistaken). I had very good experiences at the Central Park Zoo. I hope it is just as joyful for today's children. Please keep it clean, and respect each others' space. The city has become quite crowded, and it is important we are careful to be kind to everyone with whom we share the park. Thank you fellow New Yorkers. You are unique, strong, resilient, intelligent, driven, and productive. Take time to be gentle. Your calm spirit will resonate throughout the town.
Was amazing to meet one of my great friends in the elephant cage!
Time well spent here with the family. The animals are really cool. The penguins were my personal favourite. They give information about each species and it's a very interesting place if you like animals.
Very boring and small. They have five animals to see. They do have a kid zoo also but Ofcourse you have to pay a separate admission to get into that one. I thought sense it was in New York it would be amazing but Pittsburgh zoo and aquarium is waaaaaaay better.
Small but amazing! Love for all creatures is tangible. Very competent, friendly and nice personnel.
Central Park zoo is great! The animals there are so cute! I also got a coin as a souvenir. Definitely worth a visit!
Love this zoo. It's small, but very nice, you can see monkeys, bears, panda.
Cute place for family. Quick stop, about 20 minutes for the zoo. There is an additional children's zoo
My first time and I wish there was more animals to see but my child liked it.
A lovely place to spend an afternoon. It's all happening at the zoo.
Great plave to bring young children. O ly con is that. Tou have to leave stroller outside amd have to carry young babies lot of walkimg so have comfortable shoes
Seals are fun to watch. Birds were cool. Bummer its a tiny ZOO, we have managed to see it under 60 minutes so at least we had more time for Central Park. I give this ZOO 4 tourists saying "this doesn't look like in Madagascar at all" out of 5.
Small zoo with a few animals. The sea lions put on a show on their own. The indoor rainforest is amazing. We enjoyed the ice age mini movie.
We had such a Great day at the zoo. Although we are local, we had never been to the zoo before. It is smaller than Bronx zoo but we really enjoyed it. It was Great to go for the day, and thought it was priced reasonably. We will definitely return!
Nice zoo, great place to take young kids who will love it. The tropical sanctuary is the highlight for me.
Amazing small zoo. Listen to the old clock near entry at 1/2 and hour musically embracing time. Feeding time for the seals always wonderful. A great time will be had by all.
Very fun, got to see so many animals(I loved the Snow Leopards!!) and the little 4D movie at the end is the perfect way to cool off if you go in the summer!
For my 2.5 year old, this is the perfect zoo. She can see the animals (I don't have to pick her up because the display window is low) and it's not so big that it's overwhelming for one day.
One of the most beautiful zoos I've visited. Very well maintained, good shows, relatively stroller friendly, lots of information. I was however expecting a larger zoo with more animals. My kids still had a great time and enjoyed the 4D movie most of all.
I like the place and the animals everything is amazing just that it's like a little abandoned
We loved it so much that we got its membership. Small and nicely maintained zoo. My son absolutely love this place. A must visit if you are in NYC.
Central Park Zoo is easy to get to in Central Park. You can buy tickets at a kiosk instead of waiting in line. Although a smaller zoo, they had a great variety of animals. The sea lions seemed to know when people were taking pictures because they would pose. There is also a separate children's zoo a little further down the path after you exit Central Park Zoo that seemed to have more farm animals or like a petting zoo. We didn't go in that one, just walked past.
My grandma told me on her birthday a couple months ago that she really wanted to go to Central Park Zoo. So, I bought tickets online (4 kids, 3 adults, 1 senior), and we took the whole family on a trip. It's helpful that that there are plenty of benches in shady spaces since it was 80 degrees today! Also helpful that I brought a dozen waters. After hanging with the sea lions for a short while, visiting an overly crowded penguin room, and walking up a hill, it became clear grandma was dizzy from the heat and tired already, so I ran to get her the last wheelchair available (free as long as you leave ID.) And we took a break to grab some expensive grub at the Dancing Crane Cafe. I didn't like the pizza so my husband ate it. Everyone liked the Nathan's hot dogs and chicken tenders. My husband and I fell in love with the hazelnut iced coffee. After that, we were good to go. Grandma and the kids especially loved the snow leopards, baboons, and red pandas. There were many beautiful birds around, as it's Central Park! Our tickets included a 4D movie, but we decided to skip it because the line for it was really long. Instead, we spent extra time in the children's zoo, which requires you to scan your tickets again. There are some lovely views from here and plenty of photo opportunities. Nice pond areas with ducks. The kids liked the feeding area for goats and alpacas and didn't want to stop jumping on the spiderweb at closing time. It's a pretty small zoo, so four hours is enough time. The place could use some additional, perhaps all-gender, bathrooms, as the women's restroom lines were ridiculously long. Overall, we had a great time. Next time we go, we'll be sure to bring some sandwiches first.
It's not a very big park but it's laid out well. They have a snow leopard, a few grizzly bears, sea lions, penguins, etc. There is also a tropical environment with exotic birds and animals, although it was super hot so it was difficult to stay in there for very long. The facilities and enclosures were very nice. They have a 4D theatre but we didn't go see the movie. Overall it was a nice way to spend an hour and a half on a beautiful day.
The petting zoo section of the park was absolutely incredible!! I loved feeding the goats they were so entertaining as they jumped about and pooped out little balls ^_^ highly highly highly recommended for children and animal lovers definitely will get a kick out of it
Just amazing. I went here with my friends and family many times....it's a refreshing experience all the time. I was never tired to see all the nature and beauty of this place. So small but so elegant. I was always a fond of animals....loved animals. I recommend this place to family and nerdy friends. Just to talk and take a scroll.....spent some time away from our busy lives. ......it's refreshing...
Very small enclosures. Went once because I feel like every true New Yorker should, although I'll never pay to go again. I'd rather go to the Bronx zoo
Very nice, small, zoo. The experience here is not about visiting and seeing animals as this is not the biggest zoo around. It's about the walking around in Central Park and watching people around. There is couple of closed-room, temperature-controlled exhibits like the Tropical room, or the Penguin show. The best (fun) one is the sea lions. Nice show! Try to get there at 3:30 for the feeding session, which has a very nice show with staff feeding and playing with sea lions.
This zoo is small but amazing! The people who work there are very helpful and it's clean and reasonably priced.
Small and cozy little zoo to take a stroll through for an hour or two. Too bad our experience got derailed when our stroller was stolen and the zoo manager did barely anything to help. Might get a call back one day but the way everything was handled was very poor.
Nice place Central Park Zoo, visit with kids ,grand kids, senior, any one, come early from 10:00 am-4:30 pm,
I am most definitely a Bronz Zoo girl born and raised there. This zoo is also nice, smaller though. So you can really see a lot on your day there. It's really well kept of course. A nice way to spend a day on your own or with friends. If your a loner you will most def enjoy your time here.
We had a great time visiting the zoo. Small but so precious. Love the animals and the beautiful sculptures! See if you can spot the tiny animal sculptures!
Very small, but a great time and value for a 1/2 day. Highly recommended for kids in the 6-10 age group because of the hands on exhibits.
Since I was 5 years old, CPZ never ceases to be lovely, with a very diverse family of animals, frequent improvements and additions to exhibits. Just went again recently, at age 36, and it keeps getting better.
A small zoo located inside of Central Park. They have different animals and the park itself is really beautiful. They could definitely add more seating areas. There aren’t many food options.
Despite the fact this is a small zoo, it's an awesome place to visit. I loved the park setting. It was peaceful and restful even though you're in New York. A must visit if you go to New York. The 4D movie was really fun.
A really nice and beautiful zoo. There is so much to see and some of the animals are very impressive.
The Central Park Zoo is a great zoo in the center of New York City with many animals to visit. It is very well located in the south of Central Park, so it is in the middle of all the amenitiies of the city. The place is very clean and well maintained. They have a varied range of animals and the kids will love this place. We had a great time.
Worth the ticket price. However, the enclosures seem small. Most of the animals were sleeping or pacing. The aviary section was exciting though.
Simply spectacular! It's not as big as the bronx zoo, but it has everything you need to entertain yourself and your family. My baby enjoyed every second we spent there.
Small yet was not very crowded and we could always find a place in the shade to sit. Great staff there.
Not very big but it is well worth a visit. Very reasonably priced The animals that are there looked loved and well cared for.
Small and beautiful zoo. Take the combo ticket and within 2 hours, you would be able to see all 3 exhibits - 4d show, zoo and petting zoo..
Automatic ticket machine a con - only sells the complete package. have to queue if you want an ordinary entrance at cheaper price. Not very big inside. Not worth the money
Central Park Zoo is not a big one, but I like its size. It's big enough to walk and enjoy all the creatures without having to spend the whole day in it. The sea lions are my favorite, you can watch them get fed a couple of times per day. Definitely recommend
I love the zoo even though it’s a animal prison.
To be honest. When I came here I was expecting a giant zoo like in the movie Madagascar. But reality is much different. The Centralpark zoo is nice and small and totally worth a visit but you shouldn't expect to much... It has most of the essentials and an nice big Apple flair.
Awesome! Really enjoyed the game they had for kids to mark down information from each exhibit. This really helped keep the little ones interested.
Very nice place to go to! It looks like the wall you'd see in the penguins of Madagascar...
Stunning dichotomy of some of the rarest animals in the world surrounded by the densest of urban landscape
Great place to go with kids. Not so great if you rather have these beautiful babies freed, but a great place to teach the little ones the importance of caring about Animals.
As a zoo. It is small, and not that much of a collection. However the areas that have are well done and it's a great time for young kiddos
Nice zoo and well kept. Priced well considering it's a little small.
Nice small zoo; children's petting zoo is amazing with NYC's friendliest goats and sheep. Kids can feed them with absolutely no parental fear of their little fingers being chewed on! No need to pay for the "full experience" ticket, as the additional cost only gets you a cheesy "4D" show which kids only aged 7-13 may appreciate.
Great for the little ones, have taken many many kids there through the years
Please go on cool weather! I went on a hot day we barely got to enjoy we was focusing how hot it was!. And don’t go on the weekends too much people!
Nice little zoo in the central park! My 5 year old loved it while visiting NYC
Great experience. It is a small zoo but very nice visit. But someone might have thrown a plastic bottle inside the space of the birds
We decided last minute to go through the Central Park Zoo and got there just in time for the penguin feeding. This was great - all the kids visiting were so excited - as were the adults. The grizzly bears were napping - but visible. We got to see one of the snow leopards and also the red pandas (must see.) We spent about 1.5 hours here and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I had a wonderful time walking around this zoo. It’s not the biggest, but it’s nice for what it is. They had some great animals and the sea lions were very entertaining.
Went on a Saturday around noon in October. It wasn’t overly busy and most of the animals look happy and treated well.
Nice little Zoo. Decent range of animals. $13 ish for a couple of hrs isn't too bad I suppose. The red panda was cute.
It wasn't that I thought!!!! I don't like the conditions of some animals... Anyway you can enjoy it with your children..
Thumbs up!
It a great way to spend time with the family! Make sure you check out the children's zoo thats included with your general admission which the kids will love.
Nice zoo very close to the Indian consulate general. Had wanted to visit this place ever since I watched Madagascar. There are no lions or zebras or even hippos but they have a nice tropical section with a variety of birds and reptiles, a grizzly, couple of seals and the sea lion show is quite good.
Nice place to hangout with kids but I would rate at no. 2 right after Bronx Zoo.
Cool place inside of Central Park to spend some time on a nice day out. The sea lions in the center of the zoo and the penguins are the animals that are most active moving around. Not a very big place so you can see the entire zoo within a few hours.

Small but fun zoo experience while in Central Park on a Saturday. The tropical exhibit is neat, since it's all open and there's birds everywhere. We enjoyed watching the penguins. The feeding is just someone giving them fish. The sea lion feeding was really awesome. Close to feeding time they start hamming it up for the people gathering. At showtime they put on an awesome show and are very well trained. The trainers incorporate their checkups within the tricks which is a great idea.

Very cool but not very big, you can see every thing in 1 hour
Great little zoo located in central park. My son enjoyed it!
Absolutely fantastic. A must visit location in Central Park especially during winters. The tropical forest is superb with a good variety of birds.
Great little zoo, lots of different animals there. Especially good was the tropical room which really did give the impression of being within a rainforest letting you get up close with the birds living in there making for some fantastic photos. The sea lions and penguins were also very playful putting on a good show for the cameras.
Great small zoo, very doable as part of a nyc day. My boys loved it!
Traveled from Maryland to visit. Small but very well maintained. Family loved it. Went to nearby park playground. I'd highly recommend a day in the area. Huge apple store..Nike...trump tower....high end stores.
This zoo is mostly for kids.. it has many animals that students are familiar with.. snakes and birds to be precise.. and a few animals that they are curious about.. the setting of the zoo is lovely.. different angles to view one animals..
A beautiful nice little zoo in the middle of NYC Central Park. A great little escape for a day with the family!
Try to avoid going on particularly hot days. The animals seek shade and cannot be seen. Especially the red pandas.
Fun place to take the little ones. Not expensive and gives them the ability to see animals they wouldn't normally see.
This zoo should not exist. It does not have some of the best animals in the world. Great place otherwise. You can enjoy with curious people and do not have to get any guide. Instructions are clearly mentioned and animals are also not dangerous, so taking kids there is fine
came here on a date, really amazing atmosphere with all the wildlife. had a great time. love the spur of the moment type stuff.
One of the highlights of Central Park is visiting the zoo. When in New York, you have to come see this iconic location with many photographic opportunities. The animals were very active this day and the educational plaques regarding each animal and their habitats was explained in great detail. Highly recommend!
Beautiful Park, too many vendors asking for horse carriage ride at the entrance.
Terrific getaway without leaving Manhattan. Animals reign supreme. Family friendly beautifully landscaped park with varied indoor and outdoor exhibits. A decent cafeteria. Bathroom lines can get long at times.
It's pretty and clean, but I thought there would be more animals to look at. It's smaller than I thought, but still pretty!
We get here was already noon and there weren't that many visitors. We spent about 2 hours to watch the animals in each space. We saw the red pandas, its tail is quite nice. The sea lions are like watching an interesting show at Sea world! A small but wonderful zoo.
I have always came here as a young kid and i am now taking my kids it's all still the same not much of a change . The kids greatly enjoy coming here everything is so clean and staff is friendly.
Convenient small zoo. I liked the presentation with sea lions feeding. Even a red panda here! Friendly stuff. I put 4 for the food ( awful) in cafe.
We were able to take great pictures of all the animals.
Love this zoo. It's small, but perfect for a couple hours of something to do, and the animals were really cool. Can't pick a favorite!
As a parent who gets tired of zoos very quickly, I found this zoo to be the perfect size. Still took us about 2 hours (maybe more) to get through. The kids could have used more Zoo, but it was perfect in my opinion. 5 stars!!!
Small, beautiful, well-maintained urban zoo. I was surprised that you can't purchase basic tickets at the kiosks or online, forcing you to wait on line, which was slow moving on a summer Friday afternoon. Not everyone can afford the higher priced "total experience" ticket. I assume the zoo has its reasons but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
Not many animals to look at, but the ones that are displayed are well taken care of. The gift shop was a bit disappointing but then again I didn’t go there just to buy souvenirs. The 4-D movie theatre was also adorable!
This place is one of my favorite places not because of its unique beauty but because whenever I go to this place I feel like calm and quiet! Moreover the Central Park Zoo offers a quest program for the child to make them aware of wildlife and nature. Everyone should visit this place at least once.
Great affordable zoo. One ticket gets you into everything. Unfortunately we didn't see the grizzles. No explanation to why. And we had to leave the penguin exhibit as well. No explanation really. The sea lion feeding was the best part. They stole the show. Go early if you want to feed the animals in the children's zoo.
It was beautiful. Its just amazing the sight of a park in the middle of Manhattan
Loved this place. Saw all the animals. Lots of shade on a hot and sunny day. Loved the tropical bird house.
This is an amazing place all year round. People give performances, you can rent a boat to go on the lake, and so many places to explore. Go on nice walks, visit the zoo, or bring a picnic/blanket and just relax. There are also two amazing museums to visit. The Met and The American museum of Natural History. (More than those 2 to see in that area)
Clean, very walkable for small kids, right inside Central park. Great exhibits.
