Huge park with a great selection of animals. You can bring your own food or buy snacks from the various vendors. One can enjoy a full day with minimal planning or plan and maximize the hours spent there. There is something for everyone. Note: while not the zoos fault when visiting please keep mind the animals sleeping/grazing hours.

Maddy P

Laid out very well, making navigating the zoo easy. There are lots of washrooms and water bottle fill ups around, which made our lives so much easier. The zoomobile that comes around also makes it easier if you can't do all that walking.

Rob Russo

Amazing place to take your children. An educational experience along with a whole lot of fun. You need two visits to see most of the zoo but there is enough to keep you interested for a month. Definitely a right of passage for every child. I'll be back.

Tanya Circosta

A really lovely place to take the family. Lots of animals to see. It's huge so definitely worth getting an annual pass so you don't have to try and see everything in the one day. The zoo train is a really nice way to see parts of the park and learn information about the animals.

Arunelayaraja Kaliyaperumal

Maintenance is awesome, staffs are very friendly but I dont find many animals. Lot of parking space and frequent bus service to Kennedy station. Lot of snacks stalls. Overall if you would like to stretch your legs with family and friends and with some fun this is one of better places.

Gaby Bédard

Very big place with a lot to see, read and walk through! It took us the whole day even if we were adults only and the zoo was almost empty. Greats animals, beautiful environment, a perfect day for nature's lovers like us!

Davis Keena

Loved the variety of the animals at the zoo. Most zoos are missing a few of the "popular" animals, but this zoo hit every one of them. This zoo is the 2nd largest in the world by area, and boy do you feel it. I both liked and didn't like the zoo layout. It felt like there was a lot of unnecessary walking where you would go all the way around a single exhibit to get to the next one, rather than seeing multiple things at the same time. I did like the habitat themed areas though, that part made a lot of sense.

Ian Fletcher

Excellent zoo, dedicated staff. The animal enclosures are large, sometimes to the point where shy or sleepy animals aren't visible at all. Invest in the Zoo train, worth the trip as it takes you through some back areas you can't walk to. Only quibble is beverage prices on a hot day were $4 to $5.

Milca G. Sheney

Best place ever for a family! We always enjoy visiting the zoo as a family. It is quite large so plan accordingly if you plan on visiting the while party in one visit. We like to visit half of the zoo and relax at the splash pad, then do the other half on another visit.

Karen S

Great place for families, dates, hanging out with friends, or just to walk on your own. Check the web site because some of the restaurants/ take-aways only operate seasonally. Seasonal events can add a little something extra to your visit. Always nice if you can catch one of the zoo-keeper talks. Weekends are pretty busy.

Leorah Honey-Dreamsz

My family loves the zoo lots to see and do. You can bring your own food picnic tables are available.

Jamie Chesson

It’s a really big area, so much to see. I’d recommend spending a full day if you can, use the map because you have to strategically make your way through the zoo.

jim salatka

Good time, wonderful place, the hills will give you a workout, splash pad is large and a great place to beat the heat the outer deck needed a good cleaning at least a sweeping few spots were painful to walk and a little privacy in the changing room would be nice. I would recommend visiting.

Elan Hulme

Had a wonderful time. Attended a ticketed event "Brew at the zoo". It was well organized, communication was clear leading up to the event. Very enjoyable day.

Megan Ryan

The new Wild Encounters are awesome. We did the capybara encounter and you actually get to feed and scratch the capybara. So cool. The zoo is very well maintained and they do a lot for animal conservation. 100% of the proceeds from parking goes to feeding the animals. So cool. Highly recommend

Jose Ferrao

If you come to this zoo do it very early and plan to be here all day. Its huge great work out but kids and adults will live it. Huge the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, did I mention its a work out. Simply amazing

Mikey C

This is an excellent place to visit for the day. Well laid out in different areas, with most areas having an indoor and outdoor section which is good for getting out of the sun for while. We were there for 8 hours and still did not see absolutely everything. Well recommended for anyone especially those visiting Toronto.

Hartley Blumenfeld

Love visiting the zoo. It’s such a nice place to walk around. You really feel like you are escaping the city. Just a warning, If you plan to go to the Canadian exhibit make sure you are in good shape.

Terry Murray

Lots to see here and the parking lot is an easy place to meet up for the adventure. Throughout the Zoo there were plenty of places to buy refreshments. I thought it would have been a good idea for them to install some water bottle filling stations. The operators of the food kiosks were pleased to fill water containers but it would have been nice to be able to fill them ourselves without waiting in concession lines.

Sabrina Mueller

I reccomend taking advantage of the picnic tables to save money on food! The train was a great experience. There is a lot to see, I'll definitely be back again to go check out anything we missed. A lot of walking, so bring water!

Aaron Mora

Always a treat. Even when it's crowded, it's delivers. Animals are always around. Do consider going outside of summer though. It is open every day of the year, except for Christmas, and everything is just as exciting in January as it is in July. A lot of the pavilions are inside, so just make sure your bundled up between buildings.

Philip Berg

If you love to click picture and collect them in your album. Then, I'm pretty sure this place is perfect for you. Decent environment. Different kind of species we're present in this zoo. Although, you have to give your whole day to visit this zoo. One of my favorite zoo of all time.

Janice McGlynn

Always a favourite place to visit. The zookeepers create such a comfortable environment for people to learn more and the volunteers throughout the zoo are amazing with interactive stations. Great food at the park and they sell BEAVERTAILS!!!

Muni Boga

Wonderful place to spend a full day with family and kids; the zoo is really huge so make sure you adequately prepared for the long walk; there is also paid zoo mobile with unlimited travel

Brad Gray

Fantastic zoo! Definitely one of the highlights of our vacation so far. We were lucky during our visit and many of the animals were active. Great spot to bring kids of any age. Staff are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! Will definitely return again next year when we're back on vacation. This is a must see for families. Be prepared for weather conditions as the majority of the animals are outside. We chose to walk the exhibits but there is also a mobile train that drives around the main areas (at an extra cost). Very child friendly and set up so they can be independent, the kids with us had a blast and cooled down at the splash pad, so I'd recommend bringing a pair of trunks, or a change of clothes and a towel. A good tip is to take note of the feeding times/meet the haner as the animals are very active during feeding, and the times are spaced out so that you can attend several.

Celeste Ferguson

I love the zoo! I love seeing primates. They are my favourite. The zoo is so gigantic. The price is a little high for entrance, but parking is not bad at $8. Make sure that you pick up a map at the admissions booth. So if you're only planning to be there for a few hours, plan your root. Anyway, no guarantees, but you might not get to see all your favourite animals because they might be packed away for renovations or what not.

Jeff Johnson

Great place for a visit. When school is in there is next to no one in here but that also means not all food stalls and experiences are available. Because it was not the off peak season yet, however, almost all animals were out to be viewed. Great value for the price. We got tickets online in advance but there is zero need to do so.

Angela Lam

It's lovely there is so much open space and greenery between exhibits, but it does mean a LOT more steps than necessary. And I don't know if it was a Wed problem or because it was raining, but almost all of the restaurants and shops were closed, so I couldn't get back to a lunch stop until 3 without adding serious steps to my day. But I passed a bunch of school kids on tours and the docents were AWESOME

Khriss Stone

We had a good time. The Zoo is big with lots of animals and other activities for kids. My two year old loved the "children zoo" which had a slide and other thing to explore and learn. Food was normal concession, fast food-- hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, etc. there are several sitting places with shade. Staff members are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. My only issue is with the gift shop. I purchased a polar bear tshirt for my daughter and the first day she wore it the polar bear started to peel off. it definitely cant go in the washing machine. I'm going to have to hand wash it. more than likely I will peel the rest of the polar bear off and she will just have a plain red shirt that i paid $12.00 for

The enclosures and animals were properly cared for ! There were a variety of animals to ogle at! We even got to see some polar bears , Komodo dragon and an ancient turtle/tortoise! The lions were beautiful to look at and looked well fed and cared for! Since the zoo was massive, the huge number of people who had come over the weekend did not crowd the enclosures. A lot of walking is required if you want to look the animals up close. If you don't want to walk much but want to take in the whole experience of going to the zoo you can take the open train ride. That's also an experience in itself. In forms of entertainment they had a zip line for the adventurous since the whole zoo is within the forest! It's a fun family place to be at and you need a whole day over there to be able to explore half or the whole of the zoo. We enjoyed immensely and had a great time! Worth every cent! The food places are a bit over priced as they always are at such locations but good quality.

Trav Ando

This zoo is one of the largest ones I have ever visited. It has quite large zones and can be difficult to walk around to every section in a day (getting there early can help avoid this), but there is a bus that goes around that is hope on hop off for a cost. Definitely enjoyed my experience here. There are so many different species of animals. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Toronto.

Heather

So much fun to be able to take closer looks at those beautiful animals! The zoo itself is very well designed and clean, beautiful and easy to walk around. Animals, turtles, rainforest section are all well maintained, highly recommended!!

Shaun Wimpory

The best zoo I've ever visited!! The grizzly bears and polar bears are amazing. The Canadian animals were so special to see and the zoo itself was really magnificent. The grounds were so clean and the staff were friendly and approachable. Would highly recommend!!

Aureum

Spectacular place to bring family and friends! Very spacious area for both people and animals. The enclosures are clean and well maintained as well as the animals. Educational facts are posted everywhere about the certain animals within the enclosures. Amazing experience.

kerry fletcher

Toronto zoo has been a part of my life since I was born. I'm very happy to have it around now and want to see it for many decades to come. They have plenty of parking, informative displays and staff, excellent layout and quality access for people who require it. The staff are friendly and smart. They are one of the few zoos that I think do more good than harm. Their conservation efforts are great and they always strive to stay in the know.

D. Kanner

Great spot for a visit. I do find that the parking for $10 is a bit of a cash grab, especially when it takes 10 minutes to walk to your car. This zoo is huge; not in terms of animal population, but definitely in terms of area footage. Will take 5-6 hours to see all of it. We bought a year menu for $200, as it is cheaper than visiting twice with our small family. But after parking fees, will be more like $300.

Maria Elizabeth Beatriz Padua

If you have a tour guide you are set. You can get up close to the animals. You need a mobile cart to get around. Pretty good experience if it is your first time going. Then what???

Ryan Glasgow

The animals the weather the staff all amazing and the facility is also much improved from our youth. Bring a camera and enjoy the highlight of your week. Wear sensible shoes though...

Patricia Kirinkov

Beautiful huge zoo. Well Maintained. Great gift shops. Even in the rain it was super fun. The train is an additional cost but definitely worth it. Everyone was a pleasure except the young guy cashier in the Tim Hortons by the entrance. My debit card did not work in that one machine so he kept running it as credit because of my accent although I told him it was Canadian. No problems elsewhere. I’m not that into zoos but this one is not disappointing. No sad animals there! My 8 year was very happy.

Francisca Hormazábal

It is a great zoo, very large, the animals have space at least to walk quietly. You find different types of animals even I found a Lynx, which is in extinction. You need all day to tour it. If you go with children you must take a car, maybe you can rent at the entrance.

Lauren Ead

Absolutely loved the zoo, even as 3 adults! It is so well organized.. places to sit, eat and use the bathroom in every section of it. It is huge and definitely requires around 5 hours, with kids I’m assuming you would need way more time. There were so many different ways to see the animals, if they were in the shade or sleeping, there was still ways to get around the enclosure to see them usually. I was shocked with how large the enclosures were, which is great! Would recommend.

Mike Tomlinson

It's a nice zoo. But alot of the animals hide during day and are hard to see. Lots of protective glass up now, hard to take good pictures. Seems like good portions of the park are constantly closed for something.

Jeffery Simpson

Great zoo with great people doing great work. Worth the price and a visit. Support they're research and conservation efforts!

Jenny Cavnaar

Probably the best zoo I have ever been to. It's huge! So many different types of animals and it was a great learning experience for my kids. We went with a few other couples and had a great time. The kids were amazed and it was wonderful experiencing it through their eyes. The excitement in their faces as we went from one animal to the next was priceless. If you have kids, this is a must do. I have compiled a bunch of pictures from all of us that went that day so you can see some of what we experienced. But photos can't do justice for this place.

Bob Steiss

Awesome day trip destination. My family loved it. If you have young kids I recommend splitting it up over a couple days and take advantage of the picnic areas. Lots of great tasting food on site but we took our own snacks to eat between bigger meal stops. If you plan to visit more than once as it is a lot of ground to cover, you may want to look into the membership option. I definitely would but I am an hour and a half drive away.

I cannot decide if this was my favorite place at Toronto! It's amazing! I went with my friends, we were there since the opened and left about 25 minutes after they closed. And we couldn't finish to see everything even like that! We miss the Canadian Domain, one employee told us it was a bit far to get there, such a shame to missed it. I think my favorite area was the Savanna. I would definitely come back to see the area I missed, I was very happy to be there and my friends enjoyed it so much too. The day we went was rainy and there weren't too much people, it was almost like having the zoo for only us. All the employees were nice too. I would recommend to go the whole day.

Jon Averill

When the weather is good and you are looking for some place to go, this is it. Great exercise, a learning experience and you just never know what you'll see. Currently, there is an art installation made from discarded plastics found along local Waters. It's like a treasure hunt trying to find them all, yet educational at the same time. Definitely recommend the Toronto zoo

Tom Douglas Sicks

I used to think it was a nicer exhibition.... The Canadian wildlife section is far removed from the rest and you have to walk a great distance to get their and even tougher returning because it's all uphill on the return to where you first started. Of course this can all be "solved" by paying an extra charge to be carted around by shuttle bus.

Joshua Satenstein

They closed off the African safari because of a brewery event. Very few signs warning visitors, easy to miss with little ones running around.. they should have told us when we paid. They ripped my family off

Przemysław Bojar

One of the best in the world! I love this place, it is well organized, cages and enclosures are beautiful and animals have a lot of space there. It was great experience to visit this place. Only one problem is that it is quite far from Toronto. We had to take a bus and ride almost one hour (with changing lines) from our hotel.

H E.G.

Loved it. It is the perfect place for the whole family. It is spacious and clean and you get to do lots of fun activities for kids of all ages. You can't do the whole zoo visit in one day. So i recommend the membership it is all year access and it will definitely pay it off.

Majid Qureshi

The best place to take your children. One day is not sufficient especially if you're planning to enjoy water sports in splash land as well. Absolutely worth every penny.

Aamir Ansari

Nice zoo which has African penguins and Polar bears as the main attraction apart from the usual big and small animals. Big and divided into continents/ regions but entry and exit into a region is via the same routes meaning increased walking for no gain. Zip line and Zoo train are expensive but good. Have seen better but worth a visit once.

Justin Rattray

My 7 and 3 year old loved it. Tons of walking but you can rent strollers if you want. Great difference of animals and we saw 95 percent of them even though it was a hot day. They just weren't moving around to much. Fun day overall.

Nedim Barut

Lovely place to spend a leisurely day with family. There are restaurants, cafes and picnic areas. Parking lot is huge. It is closed early during weekdays.

Kyle Gredt

My family and I loved it. We went on a fairly hot day so I was expecting most of the animals to be hiding in the shade but to my surprise they were almost all out and looked very happy and playful. We saw every single major animal with the exception of the cheetah and the hyena. Despite a dopey employee at the Gorilla Climb attraction my kids really enjoyed climbing around high above the zoo right after watching the gorillas doing the same only a few meters away. If you are visiting Toronto and are planning on visiting the major attractions buy the Toronto City Pass and you will save around 30%.

Dave Brown

Food options are extremely limited. Good luck trying to find a healthy or fresh food option. Everything is deep fried. Exhibits don't cater to young kids with short attention spans. Wait till your kids are older and definitely bring your own food.

Drew Rowan

Huge zoo with well kept exhibits. Great place to explore and spend a day. Wear good walking shoes, the zoo is HUGE and it will take a lot of walking to see it. Love the pavilions. Many animals and plants are housed in these giant greenhouses. It's like stepping in to the jungle because everything is designed to mimic the real environment closely. Many of them even have full forests growing inside them, complete with waterfalls, rivers, and caves. This also means the zoo is great to visit any time of year. Even in the dead of winter there are indoor spaces where you can experience the zoo and all of their creatures.

julius boquiren

Got the season pass for our family and the kids always enjoy visiting. The Zoo mobile was really helpful for moving around. Looking forward to Fall Events

Angela Alburei

The Toronto zoo was so much fun! I went to the late night day, and there were plenty of animals to see. You could easily spend the whole day here, and everything is clean and easy to find using the map. There are food places available as well if you get hungry. The parking isn’t very expensive and we found a spot easily. All of the attractions have signs explaining facts about the animals which I found very nice.

chris Skipper

This is an excellent place to spend the day. You can bring your own lunch and wander the different pavilions and see a massive number of different animals, plants and ideas on how to change the world. Right now there is a series of sculptures on display built from garbage as an example of what's out there. Worth a look a bit pricey but worth a visit.

Michel Sturgeon

Tons of places to go, lots of animals to see. Great transportation all over the zoo grounds. Excellent for kids. Bring a stroller or transportation for the smaller ones (this was our mistake - it's a lot of walking for toddlers). But we will definitely return!

Cindy R

Toronto Zoo is a very nice zoo. I enjoyed myself and seeing the beautiful animals. The only thing that bothered me was when we were viewing the Tiger behind the glass and the little kids were up in that poor Tiger's face with their phones and with the flash on taking pictures. People need to teach their kids to respect animals and their space. Besides that it was a fun experience.

Dina Sleiman

Must visit! Wide range of animals ! Great for both kids and adults - lots of rest areas. Also worth buying a season pass if you can go often

Scott Bradshaw

Enjoyed the zoo run yesterday. Very organized and well done. Also liked the animals

Jeremiah Frick

9 hours. It seriously took nine hours for us to cover this place (with three kids), and there were a few exhibits we probably would have spent some serious time on that were closed (kangaroos and red pandas weren't out, unfortunately). The place is very well laid out, with sections devoted to certain regional wildlife (Africa, the Americas, Eurasia, etc.). Most of these naturally lead you to the next pretty seamlessly, which makes for a relatively simple flow. We arrived 20 minutes before the gates opened and there were about two dozen people waiting, but I'd definitely recommend arriving early to get a good parking spot. Do not miss the orangutan and gorilla exhibits, which are really tremendous.

Mohammad Akon

Fun. A great place to spend the whole day with kids. The splash pad was amazing, specially after a long day of walking around. Loved it.

Vic Sehdev

A great place to take the kids. Adults were 29$ each and kids were 19$ each. The carousel was about 3$ per person and if you child is less than 5 they are free and you only need a ticket for yourself. The chicken fingers and fried were tasty. The splash pad was great for kids but my child found the water too cold lol. The animals were animals; doing whatever they wanted as it was hot. Overall our family and friends had a great time.

Tony Pollard

Great place to bring the family for a day of learning about animal and WALKING. Lots of walking! Be sure to wear the most comfortable shoes. Also, going to the North American part requires a lot of uphill walking. Might not be good for small kids or out of shape adults. Be sure to bring snacks and plenty of water. Food was way overpriced for the quality. Also, skip the merry go ride. It's a big waste of money.

Tina Colbourne

Most of the animals looked happy and well taken care of. One thing I have to say, they need more washrooms, they need new glass on most of the enclosures you could barely see through them with the scratches and dirt. Also more signs telling you where to go. The map was confusing at times. The food was way overpriced. $5 for a tiny slice of pizza only and $9 for pizza and a drink. I noticed that very few people were buying food and brought their own lunches. I think if the food and drinks were more affordable more people would buy it and you would make more money. All in all, we had a great day. If it was more affordable we would come more often and buy more food and even icecream.

Kevin

My wife and I have been members of the Toronto Zoo for 4-5 years at this point. If you’re a local you don’t have to visit all that often to have it pay off. I wasn’t a huge fan of the pandas, but the Amur tiger is really interesting to visit. If you stand by the glass by one of the viewing stations while the tiger walks past it’s pretty breathtaking to see how huge (and beautiful) it is. Another nearby hidden gem is the red pandas which (albeit when they’re out) are pretty cute to watch run around. In the winter, it’s pretty quiet – but it’s actually a good place to go for a walk where you don’t have to worry too much about it being too slippery. Having now been to the National Zoo in Washington, DC – I would say that the signage at the Toronto Zoo could be better. The National Zoo was really good at separating out relevant facts into consistent section which was really helpful as a visitor.

Rachel Labbe

Had a wonderful time! Enjoyed that there was multiple indoor and outdoor exhibits. Saw so many different animals. The price of the day is reasonably priced compared to other zoo's that I have been to. It's very spacious so you're not being pushed out of the way for others to see the animals.

D Chaps

Lots of fun. if you are looking for a fun day at a zoo, this is where to go! Lots of walking . Visited in early October and it was very quiet and calm which was nice

J. Allen Hammer

Great zoo! The penguins were very entertaining! Nicely laid out zoo except for the Canadian animals section, which was a bit of a hike. Worth the extra steps to see grizzly bears though. Mega bonus was the Tim Horton's at the entrance for pre-zoo coffee and breakfast.

jane Li

The place is quite spacious. There are lots to see. The zoo also has a kid's zoo area too, however, currently it is under construction. Moreover, the animals shown in the kid's section are too common, animals like turtles, groundhogs, spiders, etc. It would be nice to have more innovative ideas. In the rest of the zoo, there are many kinds of animals. The penguins are very nice and cute. The water park inside is very fun. But there are limited seats at the water area. It could be very crowded during weekends. It would be nice to have priority parking for parents with young babies and tot.

Guyaume Ritcher

Nice zoo, lots of species of animals! However, some of sections of the zoo feel like a maze... no indications or any signs indicating where to go not to miss a thing (other zoos often have painted paws on the ground to indicate where to go or things like that, this one does not). Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in the Toronto area! I’d give it a 4.5 stars!

SvenOttawa

Such a beautiful place to visit. All the animals seemed very happy and well taken care of. The customer service is out of this world. Lots and lots of cool and interesting things and animals to see and learn about. The prices for food and drinks is reasonable taking in consideration that it is a conservation zoo. I highly recommend Toronto Zoo for your next family outing.

Mani Manii

Very good place! Must see if you have kids even couples or family can have a best time here. . Enjoy friends! Cheers!

Mark Roberts

A hot day for the zoo, the animals were not overly energetic, but there is a fair amount of trees so you can find some shade on your walks between the pavilions. Food is pricey, but not crazy. Best deal for a group is probably still getting an XL pizza and sharing it.

Karen Flynn

Fantasic experience to see so many different kinds of animals up close! It feels like you can almost touch them. Huge park! We are 3 hours into it and not even halfway through! So much more to come!

Joy Bonany

We went as a family 4 adults 2 children. It was wonderful. To see our grandsons excitement and wonder was a memory we will never forget. The park was clean and we'll cared for as the animal appeared to be. It was a fun experience we are looking forward to doing again.

Melinda Brunato

Such a good place to visit I love the zoo. I wish some of the animals had better enclosures but they seem decently happy.

Sylvia zwaan

A family favorite. Some of the exhibits require refreshing. Anything edible is quite overpriced. If you want to get your monies worth come early, plan to stay till closing , bring food and snacks!

Rachel Mendez

Amazing!! Impossible to do in one day, though

Pavithran Sridharan Iyer

There are a vast variety of animals in this zoo! Truly impressive for an establishment this close to city and yet so wild! Hats-off to the staff working here! The zoo is readily accessible by public transport and also quite close to the highway for those driving... the area of the zoo itself is vast. It can take a good 4 hours to covert the perimeter by foot and more if you want to stop by some of the attractions. There’s a faster way to tour the zoo — use the zoo mobile service which can be purchased for about 10$ per person or at a lower price for a family. The zoo is arranged into different zones containing animals from different natural habitats of the world! For kids, there’s some play stuff along with a water park to cool off :-) remember that the zoo can be quite hot and crowded at times, so plan accordingly! Don’t be disappointed if most of the animals are resting while you see them — give them a break!

Meredith Skinner

Despite a lot of the animals not coming out because it was ridiculously hot the day I went, I absolutely loved this. The zoo is big, so wear your walking shoes. The animals have fairly large enclosures. The best exhibit is the the African Penguin exhibit! They're so energetic and adorable. The zoo also has some interesting sculpture work. You can bring your own water and food in; there are designated picnic areas as well as water fountains. But there didn't seem to be many throughout the park. Otherwise, it's a tad pricey.

Luma Salon & Spa

Great place for all members of your family. Just be prepared to walk a lot. Or get the rail pass, especially if you have little ones. Super fun water park on a hot day.

Oleg Chuprys

Everything about this place in my opinion is at standard or above. The only thing hoping that would improve is the food. If you come here definitely consider that you might be spending 2-4 hrs so definitely bring a small pack for water and snacks. In Toronto it is rare to find an attraction that is worth the price and the Toronto Zoo is definitely one of them.

Ry Har

It's so easy to get lost in here for a few hours without noticing. The Zoo has always had a phenomenal selection, and the kids programming never disappoints. I'm more than happy to show my support whenever I can!

Large domain with a huge diversity of animals. Promoting conservation, respect and love for nature and animals. Worth getting a yearly membership if you plan attending more than twice a year. They should get the elephants back though

Chris Holland

The Toronto Zoo makes for a great day trip. The park is very large and spread out so be prepared to walk a lot, especially in the Canadian zone where you will walk up and down steep hills. It never feels to crowded so it is easy to see the animals at each exhibit. There is also plenty of activities for children, and plenty of food and bathrooms spread out in each area.

Navnidh Dhani

Come early. Huge place to see all the animals conveniently divided by their origins of continents. We walked everywhere and there were plenty of restrooms and places to eat everywhere. Although food really wasn't the best. Had a great time. Well worth the $30 entrance.

Jim Phill

The zoo is pretty tidy, very big and has a wide selection of animals. We went on a wednesday and there are a lot of shops closed with limited shaded areas in the heat. Overall it's a really good zoo but there could be improvements as it can get very hot

Houman Fathi

It's very amazing. The only problem is it needs to much walking which may be difficult for kids and seniors. I wish there were more personal devices there, such as bicycle.

Mrs. Clark

Nice as far as zoos go however, it would've been great to have at least one tram ride included with the price of admission. There were quite a few exhibits where the animals were "no shows" and that was a little disappointing. A positive point is my husband and daughter really liked the recreations of sea life made from plastic debris pulled from the ocean and I enjoyed the giraffe enclosure.

Chetan Khare

This place is pretty good... It's huge and requires lots n lots of walking....if going with kids ensure that you have strollers or buggy's.... And you cannot see everything in a day. Consider season pass...it's at great price and the train ride is included with season pass.

Chantel Therese Ehler

Lots to see and learn as a family, with plenty of activities for all interests. The splash pad is popular with young children, and there are climbing/zipline for older children and adults. There is a popular zoo Camp during the summer for your kids as well, where they get to interact with the staff and animals.

heng lee

Amazing experience for all ages. I get a seasons pass every year for the family. It's less than the price of 3 visits. The zoo is so big you'd be hard pressed to cover the whole park in 1 visit. They always have different exhibits coming and going so it's a nice change every time. Especially great for the kids during the summer when the splash pad is open where they can kill a couple hours easy. Try to arrive at 9 am when the gates open as most of the animals are out at that time. The park gets pretty packed once 10 am rolls around so earlier the better. Added bonus is that unlike other attractions you can feel free to bring your own food and drinks, they even have picnic tables set up throughout. Combine that with a seasons pass and you can spend the whole day there and not have to spend a penny, except for ice cream of course!

Gaby Hdz.

Excellent facilities, the animals look very healthy and happy and there's a great variety of things to see. It is also a big zoo so bring comfortable shoes and take your time, luckily there's a lot of benches and places where you can sit. Definitely one of the best zoos I've ever been to.

Brandy McDaniels

Great day hanging out with the animals today. Keep in mind that you will be doing alot of walking. Make sure to drink lots of water and wear comfort shoes. If your going during hot months, wear breathable clothing or you will melt. So many great animals to see and meet st this zoo.

Baljinder Sidhu

It have lots of green area. But not to much variety of animals. I can understand Canada being a cold country it's hard to keep all different kind of animals specially indoor during winter. But otherwise it was fun place. You can take your own food.

jonathan pimentel

I try to come at least once a year because it is a great way to spend the entire day. Weather was perfect and it was busy but people were I great moods. We had a family group with 2 strollers and everything was accessible. Indoor pavilions are sometimes tricky with the stroller and got to busy but again a great day so everyone wanted to go. We had alot of animal put on a show for us and it was very clean for a big place with so much traffic. You will certainly see us again!

Garland5

You need days to see everything, as this zoo is huge. Stunning enclosures for the animals and beautiful grounds. Bring your own snacks outside summer season. Lots for kids too.

Michael LastName

Awesome place. Great for the kids. Try not to go on a really hot day all the animals are just chilling in the shade and not really active. Also, make sure to have water with you.

Syed F. Hosain

The Toronto Zoo is easily one of the best compared to many around various countries I have visited. The organization by the various regions (African Savanna, Tundra, Eurasia, Americas, etc) is excellent and provides visitors with a lot of background information and in-depth details.

Nathan Maharaj

As others have noted, it's a sprawling facility so come prepared to walk and get some sun. The geographically-oriented pavilions are climate-controlled for the animals' comfort so summer visitors shouldn't expect AC relief and winter visitors should be prepared to disrobe somewhat. Animal habitats tend to be fairly large, especially for mammals, and you aren't guaranteed to see every animal on every visit--and that makes sightings that much more special. Don't worry: there are so many animals to see. You're welcome to bring your own food, and there are plenty of places for refilling water bottles. Very easy to spend a whole day here.

Moosa Rahman

Superb experience, worth every penny, keep the whole day as it’s a huge place. Have to walk a lot but there is option of shuttle or around 9/10 usd per head which has around 3 stops around major attractions of the zoo. The shuttle is worth it as it saves a bit of walk.

Amber Lawrence

I must have dropped 5lbs pushing kids up and down the hills at the zoo and I would not have it any other way .This place is large but there is always something to see, either animals or a nice big shady tree to sit under. My kids loved it and saw all kinds of cool animals and not to mention the splash park to. If you want to treat your kids and get a little exercise to stay in shape to chase them......this might be a good fit for you.At the end we had tired kids and tired parents but it’s all worth it.

Chris Lee

Amazing. So amazing! The staff and volunteers are so friendly and welcoming. We keep getting a membership year after year! Ain't gonna lie, it can be pricey: admission, food, and parking. But there are lots of spots for picnics! So if you're buying just for a one time visit, here is what you should know: the place is HUGE! You will be hard pressed to see all the animals and pavilions and animal shows and keeper talks (hence the membership). Zoomobile and animal hospital are great places to relax! And the kid water park and kid zone are awesome for the little ones. We will keep coming back over and over again!

Denise May

We had an AwEsOmE day and walked over 10k in 6 hours. Been years since I've been and can't wait to go back. My favourites were the Lemur and the Lynx. Keep up the good work!

Haintso Rakouth

Recommend looking online if any event is happening so you'll able to see all of the zoo and you're not rushing to see a certain area before they close it for an event. Also, if there is a certain animal you want to see, they have different times where a staff gives a background story about the animal. Overall, beautiful zoo.

Tynesha Mull

Very enjoyable... catered more for families with younger kids in terms of the attractions but there is a lot of walking. They have a really large and very fun and well designed splash park for kids to cool off and play on a hot day because as much as they want to see the animals it is a lot of work for the kiddos to walk around all day.

Ashit Ahluwalia

Amazing place! Wonderful collection of animals and exhibits. Great place for family fun! Lots of walking involved, so gear up and carry lots of water and snacks.

Vanessa Garner

Was at Brew at the Zoo event. Excellent event. We got admission to the zoo. There were about 10 different beer, cider and wine booths. Interactive areas with animals and keepers. A really great late summer evening.

Gabby Daleman

Loved it. It is the perfect place for the whole family. It is spacious and clean and you get to do lots of fun activities for kids of all ages. You can't do the whole zoo visit in one day. So i recommend the membership it is all year access and it will definitely pay it off.

karthik thirukonda

You can easily spend the whole day here and still not see the whole place. There are so many animals and the diversity is the best part. The walk through the Canadian domain feels like you are in a national park.

Roxana Calderon

I like to go see animals. They are beautiful. They seem very well taken care of but I can't help but to feel sad that they are like prisoners in cages or in small enclosed compartments :(

Jennifer Noseworthy

Some amazing animals. Loved the wide ranging exhibits. Lots of walking but more shade than expected. Great for the entire family!

World Traveler

SPECTACULAR! I've visited the Toronto Zoo twice and enjoyed both times. The zoo is kept clean and you def need the whole entire day to check everything out. Good food options too and beautiful animals that you'll probably never get a chance to see out in the open.

Laura Patterson

We love the zoo all year round! Winter and fall are the best because animals are more active. And the indoor pavilions can warm you up!

Hunter Hartley

Great date spot, needs more signage as you can walk in circles. id say 15-20% of the animals were missing on my particular visit, lots of time with only a single example of each. But overall a great experience

Zachary Burlap

Fantastic displays and pavilions from every continent. Food and facilities on site, but bringing your own (especially refillable water bottles) is encouraged. Bring good walking shoes, the whole site is about 12km of walking.

Simran G

Wow. Amazing and helpful staff; very positive feeling in zoo mobile(which I definitely recommend if you are going with family, kids or elders). It drops at 4 points you can go from there, you can travel in zoo mobile whole day long if you want! Animals are kept in such good environments and they actually look happy!

Nicole Brown

I loved seeing all the animals. The walk is great as well if you're looking for a good solid walk. The food variety has changed for the better.

Leeanne Osborne

I love coming to the zoo. Lovely trails to walk to see the animals. Lots of pavilions to go into as well.

Ragi Mano

Had a great time here with family. Be prepared to do plenty of walking, uphill and downhill! It is really not possible to explore the entire zoo in one day.. exhausting! Pick your favorite places or animals to see and go there. Don't miss the gorillas... very fun and amazing to watch them for hours! Bring food and drinks as there are many picnic areas to relax and enjoy.

Siavash Golzar

I had a free ticket to this establishment so I wanted to go check it out and see if it's everything I remembered from when I was a kid. And it was exactly that. It's depressing, the animals, are just laying around in their confined little space, and I couldn't help but feel sorry. I'm not even a next level animal rights advocate or anything, but this was just a terrible experience. I would recommend the safari over the zoo any day. At least at the safari, the animals don't look as sad and have more room to hangout, so you will have a much more enjoyable time.

Ricardough

Great trip for the whole family, wear comfortable shoes as there is lots to see. They allow you to bring your own food, so pack a cooler with drinks and food. Throughout the park there are several picnic areas with ample seating. They do also have restaurants on site but the price point is higher than it would be outside. Bring a change of clothes for the kids as there is a huge splash pad for them to enjoy, after walking around all day.

Elena Bolton

A bit out of the way but well connected with buses that are very frequent. Get there early as the park is very spread out. Unfortunately we weren’t able to see the whole part because the hill by the Canada domain bit wore us out. Some of the enclosures were excellent but some left things to be desired. I’ve never seen a zoo that allows people to go so close to gorillas - both thrilling and absolutely terrifying. Take some food because we could not find any of the stalls open!

Paul Gauthief

We got there at 9 and had the zoo basically to ourselves for the first few hours. Really nice family activity. We were able to get through the whole Zoo in a day. Not sure why people say its a 2 day activity.

Daniel Stanciu

Great zoo. Fun for the whole family. Bring a good pair of shoes. You will be walking all day if you want to see as much as possible. Would reccomend going early.

shelby cameron

My daughter had a lot of fun, bring a stroller for any children under the age of 7, wear a hat, comfortable shoes and pack your own food as the kiosks are insanely expensive. Try not to look at the sad eagle in its cage. Its s good thing it was one if our last stops because it was really sad. Check out the splash pad!

Alina Murji

This is the best zoo I have been too. They seem to really care for the animals. I really recommend the zoo mobile for everyone since it’s an amazing experience.

Will Kistler

One of the Largest Zoo's I have ever been too! So much to see and do. 18,000 steps total I really like the Canadian part of the zoo very interesting. If you like going to Zoo's this is one you should definitely check out!

Sandra Lumsden

The zoo is what a zoo should be. A family of 3 with parking $89. Bus tour $6, Merry go round $3. Over priced snacks and gift shop. Lots of walking. Typical The 3 star review deals with the horrible food we bought. 3 burgers that we couldn't even eat! Never frozen motto doesn't apply, these babies were in the freezer from last summer. $40 down the drain.

Adam Klygo

Worth the entrance price. Lots of walking like all zoo's. There are better ones but still worth to check out. Kids seems to love it.

Aman Kainth

I went to see the panda cubs 3 years ago. It took us 2 hours to wait in the line but was so worth it as I love pandas. The lineup didn't feel very long as there were information desks along the way. The rest of the zoo is really well maintained and a must see location. Perfect with family and friends.

Fortuna Sloncha

We went in June 2019. A lot of the places to buy meals were closed. We had to eat in the main food court which was all fast food. I highly rec. you bring your own picnic food. .

mousumi mahanta

I was there at the serengeti night camp. 1st time camping in Toronto, awesome experience. I was there with my family 2kids, very friendly ambience. The full moon night camping with the rhino snoring at night was an experience to remember whole life. There was treasure hunt game at 9 PM with kids and parents hunting for kids in protected jungle environment. Would recommend it for parents and kids alike.

Joseph Edwards

Although zoos are not everyone's thing, without getting political, this zoo I feel is an honest attempt to preserve and educate. I appreciate the Toronto Zoos efforts at addressing the world's environmental issues and extinction rates while preserving the animals we have and caring for them. Food is expensive but that's no surprise, it's a zoo not a restaurant. Bring a bagged lunch and enjoy the animals.

Nick Kidd

Always enjoy my time at Toronto Zoo. Word of warning: it’s really huge so if you’re not up for a lot of walking, this is not for you. Great choice of animals, all areas are clean and tidy. Animals seem well looked after and enclosures well maintained and generally large. Plenty of parking (not included in price). Pricing is very high for everything but I guess that’s normal for a place like this. Overall, however, a good day out if you’re in the Toronto area.

Anna Kraft

I loved it. Great zoo. Wonderfully accessible. Great staff and the animals are well cared for. Lots of interaction.

Tiago Faria

Spend the whole day there, My kids loved it. Animals look sad. And there was not a lot of them. Maybe because I’ve seen other zoo’s around the world but this one is nothing exciting. Leaving 3 star hoping that they do something to improve.

Branch Manager

So many great animals and exhibits! It's a wonderful place for kids and adults alike. It's so big you probably need 2 or 3 days you really see everything, especially if you've got kids with you. World class zoo with amazing zookeepers.

Big Feet

If you have kids, annual membership is highly recommended. There are many animals in the zoo and occasionally animals walk side by side with people. In the summer time the slash land is kids favourite place.

Jacky Wong

Every my family I visit the zoo, we have an amazing time seeing and learning about all the animals from around the world especially the more rare endangered species. A definite must visit for young families looking for a fun filled and educational day. Awesome for couples to just get out in the sunshine have some fun as well.

Simon Fraser

Wow wow wow wow and wonderful Zoo. Must visit. If you have kids, plan to walk around with stroller. I shall recommend to rent the stroller at the zoo. Sunscreen, cap, sunglasses are all recommended. There is a train service too. Kids loved it. Don't forget to start early and spend all day there. One full day is much needed.

Simple Bird

An awesome place where the animals always seem to be active whenever I go there. It's got some places to eat though some are seasonal. It's got a good layout as well so you can make a good loop around the place!

Vipan randhawa

This is a great zoo, but huge...get ready to walk. The way the zoo is broken up, into geographicxal areas, each anchored by a building, allows for routine escape from the elements, but there will be long walks. Good food choices throughout the park. The train is a way to get around to the different areas quickly. The only issue was at entry....there were long lines, and even after waiting for 20 minutes, people would still have to to look back and count their party size. It should have been easy, but every person reaching the front looked like they were buying a dozen donuts and having issue of which to select.

Gary Benjamin

This is an amazing place. I love it so much my husband and I got the family pass so we could go anytime we want. If you love animals and nature then you absolutely must visit the zoo and feed your soul with the beauty of God's wonderful creations.

Gertz

I loved this zoo. We spent 3 hours going to each section and looking at every single animal except the Canadian section. Being from Saskatchewan, I didn't feel the need to review that section.

Jey Narayanan

Wow wow wow wow and wonderful Zoo. Must visit. If you have kids, plan to walk around with stroller. I shall recommend to rent the stroller at the zoo. Sunscreen, cap, sunglasses are all recommended. There is a train service too. Kids loved it. Don't forget to start early and spend all day there. One full day is much needed.

Nadia Drozhzhina

Very nice place to go with friends and family. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Huge territory. A lot of walking) we found some wild animals there ) it was fun!

Joury Younes

Well worth the membership especially if you have kids and even more so if they're under 3. So much to see. Members get 10% on food and merchandise. They host a lot of events. Looking forward to Boo at zoo for my LO.

Michele Paroli

I never loved the idea of wildlife kept in captivity. Toronto Zoo, with his 287 hectares, is an excellent exception. They provide high standards of care to the animals, and their communication is focused on inspiring passion to protect wildlife and habitats. They realize this vision with education, research and breeding programs. Highly recommended!

Madan K Suwal

Very large area. A train "zoo mobile" is a good idea to visit the zoo. The train has 4 stops. You can get on and off as many times as you want throughout the day. Frequency is once in every 12 min, not bad. This way you can spend more time looking at interesting point and keep on passing other area. Definitely walking can be a fun.
