The new playground is fantastic. The giraffe enclosure is cool too. Easy to walk around the zoo. We bring snacks and drinks and take our time looking at all the animals. We like going around closing time when it is less busy.

kris knapp

I was excited to see the zoo for the first time, and after reading on the website that it had 90 different species and 300 animals I was surprised to see there really weren't very many at all. I understand you are planning to add more animals but it really was disappointing. When my husband was younger he really loved it and he was also very let down today.

Clint Lester

Love this small local zoo. As a kid I remember enjoying my time here and for the area it is great to bring the kids. The staff is all friendly and very knowledgeable on the animals. My daughter loved seeing the new exhibits on their "African Safari" section which was just recently made. If you are going I recommend to bring some food as it is quite expensive there. Parking is difficult in the afternoon but we arrived right when they opened for the non-members around 10:30am which was easy to find a close spot and get right in line to get a ticket with less than 10min wait. If you go later than that you risk lines and hard to find or distant parking.

Our zoo here in Rochester is great. The new exhibits rock, and the glass they now have around the lion's allow you to almost "touch" them. We are fortunate to have such a great zoo with such a great selection of animals to see!

Stephanie Williams

It"s a very small zoo with a limited number of attractions but it is well laid out and the attractions they had were in good habitats and very enjoyable . I would go again. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Aiki Jujitsuchick

Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Food is overpriced. Nothing GF unless you want to take a chance on a $7 salad. Animals seemed very well taken care of and healthy. I only gave 4 stars as $21 for me and my 8 yr old is a lot of money.

Valeriy Guy

Wonderful place to take the kids. It’s gotten much better with the addition of the giraffe section in the back. Kids love watching the polar bear through the glass.

Eric Lorback

They added a huge playground right as you come in for the kids, we all loved the animal exhibits and got some great pictures even though a lot of the animals were sleeping

Xavier Marshall

Since the new additions this zoo has been wonderful everytime we've gone. Kids seem to find a new animal they love and the zoo is always clean. Food prices are great. The place seems to be run well overall.

Hannah Rowan

Loved all the animals! My 3 year old was amazed! The animals are so close

Samantha Colson

This zoo has really improved over the years. There is more to do and see and the price to get in is pretty reasonable. I would suggest bringing your own food as that can get pricey with kids.

Dee Cruz

Hadn’t been in years . Amazing what they have done ! Handicap accessible also .

gretchen oger

Nice zoo with variety of animals. Foods at concessions was served cold (French fries) but adequately priced for a "park"

Maryam Saleh

The Zoo here has really stepped up to make your experience more comfortable and educational! Thank you, to all the staff for all your support and education to the public. Most importanlty, the care u give to the various animals you house. A very nice and human invoroment. God bless!

Scott Stauber

The Zebras and Giraffes were awesome. New tram was nice. Worth stopping by. Vending machine took my money near the sea lions. May want to avoid those and buy your drinks in the gift shop.

Meressa Darling

I wish there were more animals near the entrance! The animals are very spaced out, but the things in-between are amazing I have to say! The new playground is worth the trip in itself, and the tram driver we had, had us laughing the whole time!

Dave Greer

Great local zoo. Over the past 5-10 years the zoo has been making lots of improvements -- moving from an older "cage" style zoo, to a more natural setting. Definitely worth going to. Also, the park next to the zoo is worth exploring -- great trails and views of the Genesee River.

Laura B

I love our zoo. It's been my favorite place to go to since I was a child. We went a few weeks ago while the kids were on school vacation. The new extension of the zoo is beautiful. The trolley at the end is great after spending a long exciting day there.

Sheena Wiater

So great getting to see so many of the animals out. Would like to see the new baby snow leopards! The fund raising event was wonderful

Barb Cronk

A nice, clean zoo. I love how child friendly this zoo is.

Tracy R. L.

My little boys loved the zoo

Kate Leipold

We needed a place to get a bit of exercise. Perfect place to climb and walk.

Ree Woods

Awesome my little man loved! So much better after they added on to it. Perfect for kids

Cynthia Chasse

Updates to the zoo a pretty nice. Had a great time with the grandkids. Can't wait for the next phase of the expansion.

Megan Thayer

This was my first time to the zoo. I thought (although small) it was very nice. There are plenty of things to keep a kid occupied. Strollers were everywhere, but it's a zoo so its expected. Parking was easy. Staff were friendly. Will definitely go back.

Kenie Briidg

The park is so peaceful. It has beautiful scenery and lots of walking paths.

Lynda Bussy

This zoo is a wonderful place to spend some time with your family and friends. Also, spend time with the animals too.

Joshua Mock

this zoo has always been great, but the recent improvements have considerably added to the fun factor... especially the HUGE new playground. ...also the food is always good and affordable with decent selection.

Kris olson

Great family zoo. Enclosures are easy to see into and the admission is inexpensive. Excited to see the new improvements.

Dave Weston

Love the new expansion. They are still building but you can tell it's going to be amazing when it's done

Dayna Fantigrossi

Love this zoo, nice and open and a good walk to see many different animals. Bathrooms spread out at different locations, two different playground type areas. Gift shop had some really cute items and customer service has always been very good.

Lisa Filkins

The kids had a great time. Unfortunately the lions, tigers and bears were not seen at all. We totally enjoyed the seals, snakes, baboons, wolves, giraffes, zebras, rhino and a myriad of birds. It's very expensive to purchase food, so I suggest you pack. There are plenty of benches to rest and they even have misting stations to cool off on hot days.

Marie Bailey

Love seeing all the animals, alot of walking

Lili M

Getting in was fast and easy. I went on Otter day so there were extra fun things going on. They have animal encounters, feeding times. They're expanding and the habitats are great.

Amanda Wagner

I haven't been to many zoos, but this is definitely a favorite. It's not a huge zoo but it has an assortment of animals and they all have space. The tigers even have an enclosure where they put meat into a fake zebra carcass to help it feel more like it hunted it, and you can watch them from a safari truck

Lisa Clemens

Watching the young sea lion playing with his tennis ball and throwing it against the wall and catching it was so much fun. Great views of the Lions and very good educational material everywhere! Food was reasonable and gift shop even more so.

James M

I was very surprised to see the first building had been razed near the entrance. A new building for the Giraffes has gone up past the elephant area. I didn't see any of the animals that were originally in the razed building.

Tom Mayo

A lot of construction right now. It should be much better once it's done. The red pandas have a comfortable hangout now so they were a lot more visible. All of the animals were very visible with this cool spring weather.

Sue Keating

I had a wonderful time there with my daughter and granddaughters. It's so much more exciting than walking around the mall. The work that is being done looks great. Especially enjoyed the wolves!

Anthony Ulgiati

All the remodeling looks really nice, made the zoo larger and the gariffe exhibit is wonderful. New play ground as you enter is great for the little ones. Rochester is really looking good

Melissa Holman

I am in Rochester, up from Texas, visiting my youngest son and his wife. We took the time this morning to make the short, lovely drive to the zoo. There weren't many people, but the weather was very agreeable and all the animals were out and active. I had my service dog, #wagsmcscruffy, with me which created several up-close encounters. The zoo is small, but beautifully maintained and the volunteers, docents, and employees obviously love what they do. If you're in the area, it's worth the visit.

Emilia Johnson

I'm visiting, and decided to go to the zoo. Loved it especially seeing all the animals. Highly recommended.

Taran Bemis

This zoo has definitely improved a lot in the 15ish years I've been going there. They're one of the leaders in conservation in the US, and everyone there is super knowledgeable. Food is pretty expensive, but that's to be expected. Overall a really fun place!

Brian Callahan

My Family and I love the Seneca Park Zoo! We hold a annual membership which is definitely a great value, especially if you live in the area. They've done some great expansion projects in recent years that have made the zoo an exciting place to visit again and again. We love buying tram tickets upon arrival, walking the length of the zoo, and then riding the tram back up front at the end of the day. The zoo is definitely a gem in Rochester!

Trey Taylor

We had a great time. Admission price is reasonable and the playground area was a blast for the whole family. The staff are friendly and eager to share about the animals they have. There is also minimal walking between the different animals. I would go back.

Ash Ammerman

I went there for my husband's work party from 5:30 to about 7:30, maybe that's why a lot of the animals weren't out. The larger animals seemed to have very little living space especially considering how much space there is for playgrounds and other playing grounds for children. The tiger was completely heart breaking there. Several people mentioned it. If you even look at the pictures posted the tiger is mostly by the fence. Now I know why because he is just pacing back and forth. The noises it made seemed like it was extremely unhappy. This zoo seems more focused on the entertainment value rather than the actual care for the animals. I won't be going back to support this zoo.

Timmy Sutherland

This is the best zoo for all ages. There were 8 of us ages 2 to 77 on Sunday for a visit to the zoo. It has improved over the 66 years of seeing the zoo go to number one in my book. The animals are well taken care of and have good closeup view of them. Their homes are comfortable for then. The elephants, giraffes, zebras etc have five star homes. Lots of shade for the animals and visitors. It is well worth the price of $12 for adults. There are two or more places to get some food to eat and drink while there. Wonderful place to enjoy the day.

Debora Moreira

Great structure! A really nice place to spend the day with kids!

matt s

Great place to take your kids tons to do and see. The tram at the end of the park is nice especially if the little one is having a meltdown.

Kaneki xx

A lot of great exhibits here, fair price admission and lots of refreshments. Great place to being your family or just look around yourself!

Doozy Doo

We went to the zoo, July 13, 2019. Most of the animals are not there. Remember the beautiful bird room? Gone. No monkeys, lemurs, orangutan, lizards....My complaint is that the zoo always charges full price when they know there are very few animals there. There is no sign apologizing, or even explaining why most of the animals are gone. The zoo now has playground after playground instead of animals. They charge a lot to offer playgrounds, but not animals. The more money 'they' spend on the zoo, the less animals they have.

Bill Wasp

Awesome play areas for the kids. Awesome additions to the African Savannah area

Christina Maley Higley

Have not been to the zoo in almost 2 years. Got an offer for a discounted membership. As a family of 5, this membership would pay for itself in 1.5 visits. Decided to give it a whirl. Visited the zoo on Easter for something to do to burn off our kids energy and was pleasantly surprised. Was surprised when we walked in and saw the monkey/reptile building was gone. Being that was a huge area of the zoo I was nervous I completely wasted my money on a membership. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. The new exhibits are beautiful! Really enjoyed the giraffes and zebras as well as red pandas. Overall the zoo seemed much cleaner and well kept. Although the monkeys are on a hiatus, we are very pleased with our decision to purchase the membership. The lion experience was also really cool and we enjoyed learning about the lions...I am definitely going to take advantage of these experience times this summer as my kids are now old enough to really enjoy them and understand them.

Priyanka Giri

I enjoyed at this zoo a lot. You will get witness animals very close. My most favourite was lion roars it was just scary but at same time very exciting and fun.

Susan Stevens

Always a surprise. Beautifully maintained and continually updated. Animals habitats clean, natural and cheery, well fed, staff friendly, patient, love their jobs.

oksana gritsyuta

Such a beautiful place... they just remodel it so it's got new attractions, like a playground all out of wood. Great place for any age kids. They have AC rooms to cool of in and look at animals and play.

Justin Wilks

What an awesome smaller zoo! Loved our time there, had to become members! Can't wait to walk the little one here throughout the year!

Brian Bub

Been a member for years. Myvkids still love to go to the zoo. Really loving all the new renovations. Wish i could enjoy the zoobrew. I have gone before and like it just to many people for my taste.

April Bowser

The weather was perfect for a relaxing day at the zoo. Just seeing the wonderful God made animals was serene.

Jay Goggin

I hadn't been to the Seneca Park Zoo in years. The zoo has improved a great deal and is a better experience for visitors and the animals seem happier. It's worth a visit.

Nathan Pickett

Nice quaint zoo, Great place to take kids. Recent addition of a large natural wood/log playground right after the main entrance!!

Jaime Fouquet

I love this zoo! The red panda's are so cute and they have done an amazing job expanding the zoo. My kids love going and playing on the tour bus in front of the Lions, especially when the Lions are on tip of the buses hood!

Jill Fragoso

Perfect for visiting for just a few hours. See a variety of animals up close. We've been to the Bronx zoo many times and it's amazing but you just don't get as up close and personal with the animals. Clean zoo and animals are well respected.

Jonathan Ytreberg

Great zoo. Glad to see then continually adding on and enhancing the experience.

Erik Kowalski

Great zoo!! The tickets were a fair price. The zoo has a good variety of animals to see from all over the world, and the facilities were all very nice. It was also very easy to get to. Great way to spend an afternoon outdoors!!

Timothy Haggerty

Went to a company picnic, had the place to ourselves. The new exhibit looks great...giraffes with zebras and the older stuff looked great too. The food was good- I didn't know they had a kitchen; As the sun set (we reserved from 6:00 till 10:00 pm) I heard what I concluded as a hyena...pretty cool; that is after the sandhill crane was squawking. I'm posting the best pics I got but it has to be seen firsthand.

Miranda Sellite

We just became members. Small zoo but cute, fun for kids, and open year round. Cheap family membership price too!

Robbie McCray

While we were on vacation in upstate NY, we visited several zoos and Seneca Parks was the best one we found up there.

Matthew Roy

The new improvements to the zoo are awesome!! Playground up front is so great for the kids and the nee animals are awesome. Only drawback is that you have to pay for the tram to get back up to the top of the zoo. Would be nice if this was included with the price of admission.

Tom Doran

New exhibits for hippo, elephants and giraffes. Nice walk in an olmstead park.

Jacob Wixom

Enjoyed visiting the park! Lots of great exhibits and all of the animals were outside. Definitely recommend the membership pass to get in 30 minutes early and avoid the crowds and buses of school kids.

Maryann Oddo

Great place, they take great care of the animals, very beautifu trails to walk with well kept trees and plants, an enjoyable place to visit all day.

Linda McQueen

The zoo is undergoing a lot of changes so I understand why there are fewer animals and exhibits right now. I wasn't fond of the huge playground by the entrance. I didn't need to pay $48 for me and my 4 grandchildren to play on a playground, when there is a free one like it in Highland Park near my home. I have been to the zoo 3 times since the Red Panda exhibit was completed. I still haven't seen it. It should be more visible. There were 4-5 animals that weren't being shown today because their exhibits were being maintained. Maybe they should only maintain one at a time so we can see more animals at the zoo. After all, isn't that why we go to the zoo? Overall, there was a lot of walking to see too few animals. On a positive note: the giraffes and zebras were nice to see. The tram at the end of the zoo that takes you to the front of the zoo was a very welcome sight after all the walking.

Andy Lykins

The zoo is one of the best places in Rochester to let small children explore the animal kingdom in Rochester. We have a season pass and the perks you get there create some of the best value. A nice and moderate walk that can be completed in a couple of hours. The new Giraffe/rhino house and area are really nice and they just opened a play area filled with log obstacles.

Reba Robinson

The zoo is making new improvements and additions. The staff is nice and is more than willing to answer your questions. We have had the best luck seeing the animals when it is raining out or even in the winter. We went last month and were able to see almost everything. I am looking forward to the additions of the new main building. The Red Panda/Snow Leopard and the new additions to the Africa section are great.

Todd Shoemaker

Layout leaves a lot to be desired and a lot of the animals were either away in a pen, sleeping or exhibit was under construction. Lions den was by far the most intriguing! Male lion just did laps and the female lion paced right next to the fence so you got a great look at her. Missed the elephants, rhino, polar bear, seals and otters.

Bill Fekete

Great family place. They have improved the zoo immensely over the years. If you haven't been there in a while, check it out.

Gilbert Crew

We loved the animals and all the experiences you’ll get to have. I have been a fan of giraffes for a very long time and it’s a joy to see them in the park. I definitely look forward to all the other updates to come to our local zoo. I can’t wait to enjoy the zoo with my children in the future.

Thomas DeLucia

It was an amazing time! Polar bear was awesome! Lion was so cool and the wolves were super crazy to look at!

Tim Duffy

The zoo is really great for kids, and only getting better! There is a gift shop at either end, two places to get food (they have slightly different menus), play grounds, and both indoor and outdoor animals. A wonderful place to burn 1 to 4 hours. The park is long and skinny. There is a tram that will bring you to either end.

Steven Dorner

This is a great zoo! We live right between buffalo and Rochester and this is so much nicer and cleaner. And most of the animals are always out. A couple really cool features to get closer to animals. Like at the lynx, there's a tunnel leading to an area you can pop up in to basically be inside the exhibit. And the Lion area has a bus that you can walk on that the lions climb on outside of. Very fun. Only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 was the food pavilion. I stood in line for 45 mins and only had 4 people in front of me. At about 30 mins a guy walked up to the open window the rest of us thought was to pick your food up, asked if he could order there and the girl said yes like she was surprised he asked, so he and 4 other families skipped us. Frustration was expressed by a few of us with nothing being done by workers. There should be a roped of line and whoever is next should go to open window. We would prob never order food here again unless something like that is done.

Caitlynn Gangarossa

It's still in transition to fully updating all of the spaces. It's disappointing to see that one of the interactive areas they are updating is just going to be a room full of computers. I don't bring my child to the zoo and pay for entry to have them sit in front of a computer.

Fletcher Burdett

A good zoo with lots to see here. We went with our daughter's young family to see some of the worlds best animals on display. We liked the lion, girraf and elephant enclosures. We also enjoyed the ride back to the parking lot.

Tyler Godat

Really great medium sized zoo! Keepers are friendly and knowledgeable and the activities are great! Really fun for families. They tons of new exhibits and are still expanding!

Sue E

The habitats for the animals were great! They really take the animals into consideration and everything is green and wild! The zoo is small, but well laid out. The food from the food court area was okay, not great. Restrooms were clean. Luckily it was not crowded when we went, and we had easy access to all the exhibits. The reptiles, snakes, giraffes and zebras, and lions, were housed in a way that provided great views to the public! Other animals were hiding but if course, that is their nature and you can't do much about it. Walkways were wide and stroller or wheelchair friendly. The animals all looked very healthy and well taken care of.

Michael T Balonek

As always, we had a great time at the Seneca Park Zoo. New-to-us, they have a new playground area where the various monkeys used to live.

Laney r

Seneca Park Zoo is a wonderful place to visit! Especially for anyone seeking a fun, educational place to bring their little ones. Or for anyone with a passion for animals that want a taste of something other than the local norm!

Melissa Michaels

Great zoo! Love all the new exhibits and cannot wait for the new exhibits to come in 2020! Congratulations on the baby snow leopard!! We will be back a lot more!

Pam Nichols

Loved it! Saw almost every animal. Nice set. Teens were there to help and answer questions. Great time!

Taylor Mustard

This was a very nicely laid out zoo. Kids really enjoyed it. Bought tickets and meal vouchers ahead of time-very helpful. Spent about 4 hours here

Carrie Ward

Absolutely beautiful zoo. Easy to walk. Animals are well kept. Plenty of rest areas

Brendan O'Shaughnessy

It has been many years since I've been to the Zoo. The biggest disappointment is something small, parking. Be advised going on summer hot days, on the weekend, it's going to take awhile to find parking. There is a parking lot at the bottom of the hill near the new Giraffe exhibit but you cannot take the tram to the front because you must purchase tickets inside the zoo for $2 (adult). Other than that, the new area for the Giraffes is very nice building and area, and you can purchase tickets to be able to feed them. Kudos to the staff of Seneca Park Zoo for keeping the park and zoo clean and enjoyable to visit.

Lalee Wall219

Took my children while on vacation in the area. They had so much fun. A nice, enjoyable, a place made for the family to spend the day. Have been recommending it to everyone I talk to since!!!

Haannnk Gang

Wish it was a little bigger but it’s a great place to hangout for the day with family and friends. Food wise it needs help. One of the burgers I ate tasted like dog food wouldn’t recommend that or the chicken fingers, the chicken fingers tasted like rubber.

Sean C

It's a much smaller zoo than what I was expecting. The zoo opens at 10am but the parking lot was practically full when we arrived at 10:15. You can't beat the price though and because we're members of a other zoo, our admission was half price :) There are not a lot of animals here and they all seemed well-acted for. There is a large playground located near the zoo's entrance that seemed to be the most popular area for the kids!

Jason Knight

It's a bit small, but they're doing a lot to renovate and keep the place interesting. There's a ton of things going on the staff is very friendly. We will visit again next year

Marcus Davis

Small zoo. Slightly overpriced. But a nice place to take children. Safe. Beautiful. Lots of parking always making upgrades to the lot and the zoo itself:That’s a plus. Aquarium and nice photo opportunity

Kevin Carpenter

The Rochester zoo is perfect for our city. Once the new main building is replaced it will be awesome. The docents are superb. I always recommend people interact with them, it greatly increases your zoo experience. I also recommend becoming zoo members, even if you don't go that often, it's good to support the local zoo.

Alicia Messenger

I think we have a fantastic zoo and appreciate all of the work that is being put into the zoo making it better and better. It was nice riding the tram with our kids back up to the top, and we really enjoyed the sea lions and the newer building especially with the giraffes and zebras. My friend and I both were surprised that the accessibility for people in wheelchairs and with strollers wasn't better. The Rovky Mountain coast has very heavy wooden double doors with no accessibility buttons (and the bathroom there really needs some attention) and the exit gate is also very difficult to go through with a stroller or wheelchair. It's disappointing that these details were missed, and I hope that it's rectified soon!

Nicole Vosburgh

I love seeing the growth and development of the zoo! The animals all seem to be well cared for and the volunteers are all friendly and knowledgeable.

Flak Da Realist

I brought my family and we loved spending every minute there. The staff is super friendly and the animals are so cute and more entertaining, sightseeing adventures included. They have this train that takes you all around Seneca Park Zoo which is pretty cool.

Karen Quackenbush

A lot of good improvements since I was a kid. Habitats are larger and more natural. Staff on hand through out to provide facts and interesting details about the animals. A pleasant environment over all.

Patrick Johnson

Very nice and clean. Plenty of staff taking care of animals. Going to be much better when improvements are done

Joshua Horn

Cute zoo with beautiful exhibits. Makes for a fun day with younger children. The play space in the front is expansive and really engaging!

Jeremy Bard

The zoo itself is fairly small, but they have it played out very nicely. The admission costs are reasonable, as well as the tram cost. Cheap outing for about 2 hours.

Nicoĺi F

Had fun with my Daughter and Nevaeh at the Zoo today! Those 2 little girls are such caring, respectful and supportive of others and animals!

Abhishek Singh

Very good place for a weekend and to gather freshness in your life. Please remember to check their website before visit as every day they have like showcase of different animal wherein they feed the animal and play with them.

Donna Fancher

Horrible. Saw 4 animals. The elephants look so miserable. They had a dog companion, who came right up to me. I liked him. One elephant was leaning on the wall of the building. The Lions were out sitting on a rock. The giraffe was alert, and walking aimlessly among the zebras. Saw a set of twin girls walking around unattended. They followed us, and I had the feeling I was in the movie, The Shining. They asked questions about the dog, at the elephant building...and lurked close by. My Daughter left the area, so I was there looking for who their attendants could be. I didnt like being put in that position. In these troubled times, I even have to worry at the zoo...about others welfare. They finally blended into the crowd, and I knew I had seen the last of that zoo. They were the spirit twins of Seneca Park. You can buy my book in 2020. The visions of the elderly. Only kidding. Or am I?

Veta James

It was really wonderful i really enjoyed seeing all the animals at seneca park zoo my favorite was the lions and the tigers and the polar bear.

chad boula

Just want to say thank you guys for the best service. I was there at the zoo about a week ago I lost my keys to my car in the zoo area Just want to THANK all the staff for droping everything that was going on throughout the zoo. again thank you guys Each and every employee deserves a medal. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND. this for a Great Employee Service

Becki Share

I've always been a fan of this zoo and I'm happy to see the additions and changes that have been made. Fun feeding the giraffes! Wondering what happened to all of the animals in that green building that used to be in the front though?

Joyce Kennedy Wooding

I didn't go to the Zoo. Rather I went to the pond/picnic area for a relaxing picnic and tried to fish in the pond. I instead just took in the tranquillity of the area and watched the geese and swans.

m a

Great place to visit with kids. We had an amazing time.

Travis Schmieg

This was a small zoo but with cool animals like rhinos giraffes and elephants. I didn't see the polar bear but they had awesome exhibits for polar bear and sea lion. They also had a cool lion exhibit but I saw no lion. Was a fun walk through.

Dave Dawson

When we planned a family trip to the zoo this summer, my daughter, sister and niece, we were all excited to see the giraffes. We saw them and it was great, but what you fail to mention anywhere, in any advertising is there are 2 days of the week we can't feed the giraffes. HUGE let down. But all else was good.

Joan De Marco

The park and zoo are beautiful and the numerous playgrounds and activities for kids are very nice, but the animals seemed lethargic and were in many instances not even visible. The staff were not friendly at all! My daughter and I wanted to ask a question but the staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves than interacting with the zoo guests. The only staff member that was friendly and willing to have a conversation with us was in the gift shop.

Ben LaSpagnoletta

This zoo has been. Totally updated. It is now a must see Rochester attraction. Fun for children and adults. The animal enclosures are great for viewing and taking pictures. Come explore a wonderfully place for a greater experience. than you ever imagined.

Tabitha Milevich

The exhibits are great, staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The kids and parents both enjoy the day here

Dustin Beuerlein

Great place to take the kids to relax and show them what the wild has. Would be nicer if the zoo could expand to be a bit larger though.

Benjamin Gratto

Cool little zoo, they had animals we don't normally see like the white rhino and giraffes. Kids liked it and we are members now. We will going back multiple times this year.

ReviewPrincess GoodOrBad

I just love this place. It’s clean, the staff is extremely helpful and they all embrace learning An absolute MUST VISIT

Vicki Rigsby

It's a treasure. Beautiful habitats, well cared for and loved animals, clean as a whistle and friendly staff. Watched the giraffes, baboons, elephants (1 getting a pedicure) up close while a zoo staff provided interesting information. Wolves, tigers, otters, eagles, zebra and more were all seen clearly. Several shows about specific animals with plenty of time for questions. Nice gift shops. Prices are amazing especially the Grandparents pass. Can't wait to go again!

Steven Wiest

Miss the monkey house. Just ant the same. But still nice. Long Walk to see alot of the animals.

Patrice Dent

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They enjoyed sharing their knowledge about the animals and the zoo, including upcoming additions.

Joshua Tam

You can't beat the price. It is a very clean park. Very friendly staff. Plenty of animal events throughout the day. My kids enjoyed this zoo very much!

Omar Pachas

Decent zoo. They are still expanding and adding new exhibits. Great place for a family outing.

Sarah Mallory

We love going to the zoo! The new playground at the entrance is so beautiful. There are always volunteers nearby to give us fun information about our favorite animals!

marty

A zoo with no animals.....it’s almost funny Head to the Buffalo Zoo..... OK. Went back out of curiosity There were 5 more animals on display Seriously- did they sell the animals? And I really like the children’s playground with BIG SOLID ROCk BOULDERS. How safe is that?

Lynn Gill

Nice zoo, continuing to make improvements and add animals. Good for a few hr outing depending on the age of your kids.

Awesome zoo for kids. Pretty spread out though. A loop would've been nice so I don't walk 5 miles out then have to walk back and not see anything new on the way back.

Melinda Neal

The best rime in the work looking at all the beautiful animals with my family loved it and will go back soon

My family and I go here for family get togethers. If you drive past the zoo there is also a park with a playground and space for activities. Grills and tables on a first come first serve basis. Lodges you can rent and pavilions. If the pavilions aren't taken, you can use them for the day! Holidays and weekends get a little rowdy later in the night.

What a great small-ish zoo! It was the perfect size - we spent half a day here and it was a great day for a 4 year old and a 7 year old. Parking was a bit tough but we got spot eventually.

Wendy Burgess

I love to come down by the park, where there is a pond. It has all kinds of birds, in including swans, they have a baby right now that is so beautiful. The wildlife here is awesome. Me and my dog come here quite often. We enjoy the park.

Really nice improvements. Nice place for a day out with the kids

Lots of indoor spaces along the way make this perfect for any weather. A little creek for kids to play in the water. Food and drinks available. A digging pit to uncover fossils. ...and now you can feed the giraffes! Kids 2 and under get in free.

LaShay Carey

Always kid friendly! My son went there on a field trip. The staff were nice and organized. The kids had a great time!

Bridget Harrigan

Thought I would miss the old building in the front but I like they play area they have there now. I would like to see better shaded areas there for parents to wait out of the sun.

Haven't been to the Zoo in a while, so it's refreshing to see all the changes that have occured there since I've been there last. For families, there is A LOT going on, and lots of places to walk. I think there may be more than enough to occupy kids of all ages, and you may not get through all of it in one day. Admission prices are reasonable, but if you get a membership, I believe you can get in 1 hour earlier. They also had lots of small interactive tables where you could feel things, learn about animals, etc.

I have always gone to this zoo as a child and it has been one of my favorite childhood memories.I loved it so much that I continued to visit annually as I grew up. I was aware they were doing renovations to create more habitats and a better environment, however, it is not what I was expecting. Several of my favorite habitats had been torn down to create a playground (keep in mind, they already have a decent size playground). This playground is replacing a large amount of the zoo which is shocking when you’re paying a decent amount of money for an attraction you can get free at a local park. When I approached a staff member about this concern, they stated that they relocated almost all the animals to build this playground so that the zoo can work on making more money for other areas. The staff also communicated that we have not been the only people that approached them with this concern. Although they did add giraffes and zebras, it did not make up for what has been lost. I’m highly disappointed when I left the zoo today. I’m sad to see that majority of my favorite habitats have been torn down & I could not share my favorite childhood memories with my little cousins. I will not be returning to this zoo for a long time & I recommend that you do not contribute your money toward this.

I loved the zoo as a kid. I was super excited to bring my son and my fiancé to a local treasure. We frequent Seneca Park, so I was aware of the current renovation, however I wasn't expecting a third of the zoo I remember to be gone though. The Sunday we came was cooler and it rained on and off which made for less foot traffic than I was anticipating. It was mildly disappointing to find exhibit after exhibit "empty". My kiddo enjoyed the wolves and all of the new interactive stuff in the learning center. He really loved being able to climb on the savanna bus as well! I do love the fact that we now have snow leopards and red pandas. The expansions for the elephants and white rhino were amazing. A much better set up than the old elephant enclosure. I'm interested to see what else this summer will bring. We will put our membership to good use between Rochester and Buffalo.

Love the zoo, new things every time we go!! The new play area is great, but wish it only had one entrance/exit. Its a big space to keep.track of little.kids!

Carla Small-Covington

The Park was was nice the animals were great and well cared for I liked that it was out doors.

Rob Halbrook

I prefer the old design better with more animals. The giant playground in the entrance detracts from the beauty of the park and is just in the way to the real attractions, the animals. The parts with the animals are really nice and worth the admission.

Samantha Bosnyak

Always loved going to the zoo, I'm disappointed about the monkies and some other zoo animals. They have made some updates which are nice but then other areas don't work such as the African safari the little huts "buttons" don't work. The staff in the food areas need to be retrained as there was slight confusion about orders and just the overall speed was slow. The prices seem to be high overall but I still continue to go because that's the only zoo we have near by. It would be nice if they made an area for smaller children 6months to a year to enjoy such as a small play area or water area.

Sylvia Shoemaker

The zoo has grown so much since I was last here. The exhibits are great. I would recommend a visit with or without kids. Walk from entrance to zebras then take tram back to entrance. Allow a few hours to see it all.

Mike Frederick

This is a nice sized zoo, easy to do in a day but still has quite a diversified number of animals. I was surprised how close I could get to the elephants and the lions have a “tour” bus as part of the exhibit and one of the lioness likes to sleep on the hood it was fun being that close to her. We also got to see a penguin paint which my two grandchildren loved.

Carter Morris

The zoo was great. A vast array of wildlife and animals under human care. Plenty of things to do and a lot of places to sit and rest, or eat. Cant wait to see the new tropics center coming soon. Only disappointment was that the red pandas were off exhibit, but that is to be expected from time to time as they are still wild animals who come first. So overall a great experience for families, groups, schools, or solo.

aNoidProduction

Very nice for a small zoo. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Carolynne Bussom

We love visiting the animals and supporting conservation efforts. Every time we go it is a slightly different experience!!

Was very disappointed walking in to see all of the construction going on. The main building near the entrance was torn down along with a lot of childhood memories. After wandering a little way into the zoo, I was extremely impressed with the new exhibits, and happy to see that they are investing in local attractions. Although disappointed at first, I am glad to see money being invested for future generations to enjoy the zoo. Great job, and I look forward to visiting again once the exhibits near the main entrance are complete!

John Baumgartner

New Asia exibit is beautful! Park looks a lot different than when i was here last year. Main big building near entrance was torn down and temporarily replaced with a giant tree playground. The kids could have spent days in that thing.

Elizabeth Barber

I went to a "zoo brew" and I saw many animals and the different exhibits. Had so much fun.

Setsu Sharp

This was a beautiful place to spend a beautiful day. There were many animals to see, and many zoo employees stationed around the park to explain whatever you might want to know about the animals you were looking at. I would definitely go again. A very good place for young children.

Karen Taylor

Love this place. I used to work there and it has come along way. Always doing things to make it better. Keep up the good work.

Our kids loved it. Haven't been in a few years and have to say I was impressed. Love the new play area where the kids have a chance to actually run around and not be over crowded!

G. Kasper

Not large but the grounds are nice and they had a spectacular lion show that was up close and personal. I didn't catch the other shows. The zoo is arranged in a straight line, so when you get to the end you'll probably want to take the tram rather than backtrack through everything.

Sabrina Renner

Love the new addition and some upgrades! The natural playground at the entrance is so awesome! I believe it is temporary, though.
