REVIEWS OF Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park IN Massachusetts

Christopher Prevel

Set in a beautiful park woodland, the zoo humanely displays several native and distant animal species. Very reasonable entrance fee. Relaxing 1.5 to 3 hours for an individual, a couple or a family. Very kid friendly. One of Binghamton’s Jewels.

Kit Donovan

Fun, local historic zoo and carousel! Animal exhibits, playground, food and beverage purchase area, and gift shop all on site. Be aware that the flow of the zoo is basically uphill, almost switchback style. Wear good walking shoes and be prepared to deal with going uphill!

Tina Fassler

This was a wonderful place, we had such a great time.

Yvonne White

Nice but small

Bruce Chamberlin

Great little zoo, "the 5th oldest zoo in America". The people are friendly and very knowledgeable and the animals seem to be well cared for. They have several special events throughout the year, ice cream safari, feast with the beasts, boo at the zoo, etc. And the run Zoo Mobiles with smaller animals to other public or private events.

Melissa Cacciagm

It's a nice small zoo

Jon Gardner

Great experience with my son. Thanks.

Caitlyn Dixon

We participated in the African Penguin experience and it was wonderful! We learned about the penguins, one of the penguins allowed us to pet him, we got pictured of us with the penguin and a penguin foot painting! The zoo was beautiful and all animals looked happy and healthy!

Kyra Hoffmann

Nice little zoo with a wide variety of animals. The red pandas were great! We spent 2 hours strolling through the zoo

Deborah Slater

Nice little zoo. Well kept. Great carousel and gift shop

scott mcdaniels

Love it too

Donald Pu

It has animals and stuff.

briddishlove

Small, but still has a great variety of animals. Staff are friendly and approachable - if you catch them during feeding time, they can tell you all sorts of info about the animals in their care! Lots of birds, a few unique reptiles in an indoor exhibit, some penguins and otters, and other small mammals. Big guys include some cougars, huge African vultures, and a couple of wolf packs that were easy to see during the day and really fun to watch in their big, wooded enclosure. Area was clean and had plenty of shady spots. An ice cream spot and restrooms halfway through was a great feature!

Ima Awesome

Nice Zoo. The park is uphill which is great exercise. There are not animal houses all animals are outside. It was a good walk around. Small. Staff was semi friendly. You get to feed the goats that the end which is great. Carousel doesn't work but staff said they are restoring it eventually.

Rosey Smith

My son and I love going. The staff are always friendly aand willing to answer questions.

Steve Pan

Nice zoo. Friendly staff.

LayTana Duncan

Love this zoo, all though it seems as if they have less animals then they had in the past.

Bill Abdallah

Animal enclures are far too small.

Joshua Hall

Very relaxing walk to explore the zoo. They do have carts to get you around if you cant walk well.

Maureen

Appalling. Should be shut down and all the animals sent to proper sanctuaries. The animals are miserable. Painted "ice rocks" for penguins for example. It tears at my gut that I am stuck living upstate NY knowing that this zoo and the roadside zoo Animal Adventure are close by.

Brandi Lee Smith

It was awesome to see all the different animals but we wished there were more big cats. My son was really hoping to see a tiger and all they had was a snow leopard and a cougar because their Amur Leopard passed away. Also, we were also hoping to see a fainting goat. Other than that, the price was good and my son really loved feeding the goats.

Jamie Ziegler

Nice zoo. Shaded path. Friendly staff.

Rob Rob

I have lived across the street from the Zoo for 2 years, I am so glad I finally went over!! Not a huge zoo,but it was very entertaining and informative. The staff there is awesome! The snow leopard is so freaking cute!!

David Galvin

Nice small zoo, good for kids. The wolves and otters were our favorites, but there's a surprising number of animals, all apparently well kept, healthy and appropriately housed, in the pleasant woodsy setting.

Fayge Roman

Just perfect for kids....neat set up.....not too large.... beautiful and well cared for animals.

Jaclyn Padilla

This zoo is quite lovely. But the coyotes look sick and where is the carousel? Also, the cages are way too big for one little animal. New to expand. But otherwise I had a good time.

Ann Marie Loucks

My kids had a blast! Its alot of walking. Good selection of exhibits!

Emani Wallace

I love this place, especially when I was 3, 4, and 5 yes old. Now coming back and taking my younger family feels so nice. Great place for kids to expand their brains and learn.

Thomas Carnesecchi

Good for young children.

Becky Cooper

Did a wild encounter today with Patience, the 2 toed sloth, as well as the porcupines. Was great! Tara, the zookeeper was knowledgeable, firendly, and so nice! Jackie got some great pictures for us, too! Thanks for a great experience!

EGRE BRANCH

Ok. It needs some renovations.

Sydney Yeager

The animals are adorable! Great sized zoo as well.

Maria Teijmul

Love the quiet calm of this small zoo. I enjoyed the petting area where we could feed the sheep and goats. Also the leapods! I so love the gnome garden! And the penguins. Suggestion there should be a recording to guide visitors in the tropical house if they have no one. It is intimadating to go in and continue because of the smell, heat and the feeling of isolation so visitors need to feel safe while we learn, a bit of discomfort with heat and smell is fine but not if we do not feel safe and no guidance as to what to look for

David Channin

Nice neighborhood zoo. Great for kids. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Brenda Karika

Spent the morning with my friend and her 20 month old granddaughter and my 20 month old great granddaughter. The 3 and under room was perfect. The rest of the place had long halls and carpeted steps to run and practice on. They weren't very interested in grocery shopping but liked the bee hive. Place got quite crowded but happy children everywhere. This center is probably the best I've seen including NYC. Very innovative, well staffed, attention to details remarkable.

Mark Dutton

My kids always love it here when they fly up from Albuquerque for the Summer.

Craig Canfield

We're animal lovers to begin with, and try to go to the zoo when we get the chance. Our last visit was to bring our niece and nephew, and they were enraptured with everything they saw. We walked the whole trail before stopping at the gift shop, and then two rides on the carousel. The kids were thrilled, and have already started talking about going again.

Victoria Mallon

I recently had my wedding at the zoo and it turned out so nice! The staff is friendly, very informative and overall professional. They went the extra mile to make sure my big day was special and went smoothly. My daughter loves going to the zoo too.

Melody Guidry

This may be small, but we loved it. We especially loved the goat bridge that goes over the walkway

Tzveta Hadjiyska

We love the zoo! We hadn't been in a few years and I am glad we revisited. Both my toddler and teenager had a great time! We will make sure to visit more than once a year to support our local zoo and have a great time!

David Margretta

This is a nice little zoo and park if you happen to be in the area and are looking for something to do. It sits in a little valley, so on hot days it's actually quite cool walking around. Prices are very reasonable. Not a lot to see, but it was worth the stop with the kids.

Pyro Kat

The price to get in isn't bad. They do have a lot too see and a merry go round. It's quite clean. We didn't buy any food their but I peeked at some of the prices and they seemed reasonable enough. There is a lot of walking and the few things I looked at in the gift shop seemed a bit pricey, but I'd still recommend going anyway. Besides there's goats to pet.

Tami Scone

Went for movie night, nice time for the family

Heather Cummings

Boy scout merit badge day had a good time

Jeremiah Harvey

I've had staff act extremely rude to me in front of my family more than one occasion. Syracuse zoo is a lot better and they have kinder staff.

Nick Pritzakis

Amazing place in to the trees!

Janet Osborne

I have been going here since I was a baby Great experience. Love the snow leopard and otters!!!!!

Ja Fi

The animals are beautiful nice long walk but some of the staff are snobby especially the caretaker of the invertebrates.

Susie Miller

Nice scenery! Very nice walk

Brian Holcomb

Other than having special events, which is quite a lot this place is not so great. There is a lot of hills and all the way up to is just penguins. Most of the animals can be found in your backyard. This place used to be awesome but is now on its last leg.

Heather Luther

I found it quite odd that they had an exhibit on how it's cruel to wear animal fur and things of that nature... But yet they sell real rabbits feet in their gift shop. I even made a comment to the women at the gift shop and she said I don't know maybe they're not real? When in fact they definitely were.

Brian Oliveira

Great place to spend a few hours. Kids loved it

John O'Neill

It's fun to take kids to see a different zoo Love it

Cinder Block

Really nice zoo. Animals seemed content & well-cared for. Many interesting exhibits. The red wolves are very cool & were most active animals. We visited mid afternoon & it was hot & humid. The zoo was cleverly built into the terrain & the scenery was amazing. It's a little over a mile to walk through when the nice asphalt walking paths. Built into the woods, there were lots of places to get in out of the sun. I just had a knee injury so I found walking up the hill to see all the displays personally a bit challenging. By the time I walked down the hill coming from the exhibits I was uncomfortable - but that is on me! I should have wrapped my knee first. Just mentioning because it would be considerably harder for elderly or infirmed folks to visit. I saw little golf carts there, so maybe they rent or use those to help people get around. Anyway, it was an enjoyable afternoon adventure. We ate ice cream at the concession stand and even bought a couple items in the gift shop.

Gina Reinhardt

Very good zoo. Lots of pretty animals. Boo at the Zoo was amazing as well.

Viki Worden

Nice, love the animals!

dominick lapola

Very nice zoo, with a friendly staff. about a mile walk all around it with some really cool animals and you're able to feed some of them right by the entrance. There's also a playground where kids can burn off some energy about half way around. My kids and I had a blast

Mat Gee

Great place to bring the little ones. Get ready to walk up and down some hills.

Alberto K Smith

Our family had a great experience with our Wild Encounter. All the staff were courteous and helpful. Rachael and Courtney were very knowledgeable and friendly. We would recommend the experience to any family.

Rachel Bradley

We enjoyed walking through the zoo and feeding the farm animals.

BiggieSmoke420 Gaming

Great Zoo, lots of animals and the entrance fee is only about 25 cents, they even have playgrounds there

Lynn Barnett

Good place to take a class trip

Robert Greene

Good local zoo

Jeanette E. R.

It was a great time. Definitely will be going back

Steve Jones

The Ross Park Zoo is a great place to take young children and introduce them to different animals it is small and fun having one of the carousels from the original set as adults we still like to go there

Michael Ruppert

Quick 1 mile walk around, not a large selection of Animals but its okay for young Children. They have a children section; goats, pigs, and sheep to feed.

Dalton Noll

The zoo its self is to small the animals are all cramped up in there cages. The riverbanks and garden in south Carolina is a lot bigger that's what I'm used to where it will take you all day to get through it, instead of less than 30 mins.

Karinna Kruger

The worst zoo I have been to. The wolf enclosure is nice but most of it is hard to see the animals and impossible to get pictures. Its a nice mile walk with exotic scenery but not for the zoo enthusiasts.

Mariena Silvestry Ramos

Great place to walk and visit with the family

Heather Merrill

Cute little zoo. Nice size and walkable for any age. Nice variety of animals and very well taken care of.

Suzy D'Angelo

Great place to bring your kids! One side (to the left) is the zoo area. My grandson & I went (R) to the Discovery Center & Story Garden. Fun & learning.

Renee Duroseau

The animals didn't look well my nephew thought they were sick because the big animals looked lethargic , the fun park was better he enjoyed the play grocery store very much

Amber Webster

This was a sweet little place. Small but I could sense the history. My boys loved the carousel.

Richard Macik

Nice little zoo. Takes about an hour to look at the animal exhibits. Reasonable prices too. Discovery center is located next to the zoo. Another great option for the kids.

Candy Jump

A great family day place. You can see the animals and have a picnic

Lilly Cheng

It's a small community zoo. Some of the animals looked a little sad but there is only so much space and funding. The staff were all very friendly. In all a pretty good place to visit for a quick family outing

Janet Van Buren

Very clean zoo. Friendly staff. Great walk in the woods. Wonderful place to bring family. Cute souvenir shop inside. Prices are reasonable. Loved the carousel. Children are encouraged to find litter (trash) on the ground, in turn for a free ride on carousel. Great way to teach children to appreciate the earth and be rewarded with 7 minutes of fun.

deletedTestimony .

Extremely clean and well kept. The animals seemed relaxed and happy, and the staff was friendly and smart. The snack stand was also very clean and reasonably priced, not what I'd expect from a zoo at all. Well done to everyone there. Also, it may go without saying, but the animals are amazing to witness. Highly recommend.

Emily Bomboy

Very disappointed with this "zoo", When i was a kid it was beautiful, and over the years it's turned to nothing, the poor animals that are left in the enclosures looked very sick they had little to no water, and no food. I feel so bad for them. They would honestly be better off closing that zoo and putting those animals in a zoo where they would have more attention and water, and there enclosures are well kept. Don't think I would go back, did not like seeing animals like that. Something needs to be done.

Heather Ekross

Way better then animal adventure. The animals have better enclosures. Not given enough credit.

Shellie Easton

Such a great little zoo for a day trip!!!

Denise Jose

Small Zoo with lots of very interesting animals including a red panda and a sloth

Matthew Guiles

Pretty cool for such an old zoo

Kristen Lander

Binghamton zoo is amazing. I saw sloth, wolves, coyotes, penguins, sea otters and many more! All the animals are very cool. The entry fee is affordable and the area is well-maintained.

Megan M. H.

As one of the oldest zoos in the area, maybe even country if I’m not mistaken, it’s a shame that it seems to be going downhill. It’s a cute place and I know the staff try their best with what they have. Though there are very few animals any more and the exhibits need some repair. I did notice a few upgrades upon our last visit. I’d love to see this place restored to its former glory!

Brenda Cicio

I was a little dusappointed that there was not a little more to see.

Jerry Garcia

Had a real good time.. friendly staff.. reasonable price fun for our whole family.. thank you for everything

Connie Paul

Everyone was so helpful and accommodating. Great place and well worth the visit.

Shane O'Malley

It's a tiny zoo, but not crowded and perfect for smaller kids. The zoo is well kept and the animals seem to enjoy it there. If you are expecting a large zoo with all exotic animald, this is not the zoo for you. If you want a smaller, quieter and cozier experience to bond with family, you'll enjoy it!

Fred W

Great place to take the Kids! Loved it The zoo is small and very friendly. Very knowledgeable staff. Kids loved feeding the goats!

phoebe

Great Zoo, It's just really confusing because there are 2 zoos in Binghamton. I actually ended up accidentaly going to this one instead of the other one. It was still great.

Mark Zabel

A great little zoo that can be experienced without quickly without being overwhelming. Yet they have some very nice exhibits you might not always see in a typical zoo. My family and I have enjoyed visiting many times over the years.

randy mill

A decent verify. There is quite a bit of walking involved though.

avatar icculoapb

Lovely place as always

Joe Dundon

Great place to take the kids! I enjoy the fresh air and the exercise. Kids love the Red Panda

Oscar Dwyer

Great place to take the family. It could use a little more animals and attractions though

Austina Edwards

Small park but nice and shady. Not a lot of animals, we saw everything in about 2 or 2 1/2 hours with a 3 year old along. The carousel was shut down for repairs. There is a very small train ride for $3 a person. Most of the zoo is uphill but they will take you on the tram at no charge if you request it. Food prices were not bad for this type of venue and gift shop was not really high priced as far as gift shops go either.

Keith Kline

Had a birthday party for one of the grandkids there was a fun time a volunteer brought four animals to the building for the kids to see. Nice little Zoo that you can see in a couple hours about a mile or so walk. Has a decent Hill on it so it's a little challenge for those out of shape. The kids all enjoyed it

Ginny Mclaughlin

It's a very nice zoo. It's not too big also. Perfect for a small day trip.

Lizz Iee

They have great workers. I recently just came here for my child’s school field trip & the poor animals didn’t have the proper materials or environment that they needed. They had Penguins In the burning sun. Poor cheetah pacing in circles freaking out. It’s one thing to have a zoo to help hurt animals to get better but to keep them there forever, or to take them out of there own hole to put them in the zoo is wrong. So many sad animals with not enough proper supplies. None of them had what they needed to survive. It was horrible. The inside was amazing though. The price for the field trip wasn’t bad but they made us pay twice for the inside and outside which I don’t think is fair. But I guess it’s life.

Timothy Stephen Ciurczak Myers

Godlike zoo! There is a good amount of animals and the location is good. Not too hot,not too cold.

Dez Martin

a fun and inexpensive way to spend the day

David Lewis

There are great moments for young families to enjoy here.

Agnesa Samarsky

Perfect size zoo for kids, good amount of animals where you dont get super tired. Good place for a walk and a small bite to eat. What I really enjoyed this year was the amur leopard, very active, had fun watching him.

HydesGoSeek _

Aging zoo but well kept. Otters were the days favorite animal.

Stephanie Crain

Great zoo! Several unique species! Super friendly staff! Wonderful gift shop! Fun day!

Kris

Amazing little zoo. There was a zookeeper walking around answering all of our questions. Can get closet to the animals than most zoo's. Overall amazing experience will be coming back in the future!

Jennifer Powless

Small zoo with small animals. Largest one is a cougar. Clean and handicap accessible. Free carousel ride! Plenty of shade/lots of trees. Paved walkways. Decent zoo

SpongeBob SquarePants

Great Place To Visit !

Erich Krause

Great old zoo. I wish they had more, but they do a great job with what they have.

andy clarke

The zoo needs some work and would be tough for non-motorized wheel chair.

April Krajnyk

Zoo is fun but needs some major upgrades!

Devon Markarian

Always a favorite. Only $28.00 for a family of four. You can feed and pet the goats and sheep. Then wander through the large zoo to see all kinds of animals. My favorite is watching the penguins and otters from under water through the aquarium windows. Please note to actually keep your fingers out of the bird cages where signs direct you to. They will bite you. Just ask my husband.

James Robertson

We had a good time. The path for the exhibits is 3/4 of a mile long & the entire loop a little over a mile. Not a huge selection of animals but this isn't the San Diego Zoo & isn't trying to be. Parking was simple, and admission cheap. We're definitely coming again. Park is well maintained. Only gripe is a that the multi-level viewing areas are NOT wheelchair or stroller friendly. No elevators, only stairs for them.

Danielle Wilson

Shaded, wooded area with a variety of animals, paved walkways, children's playground , petting zoo and wooden carasal.

Bill Janes

Exclent. Not like a big zoo but they get the most out of what they have

Debbie Burke

Grandkids love going, fun family experience

Tara Prochazka

Love Zoo Brew, you walk through the zoo and stop at the vineyards and breweries along the way. Great idea.

Aaron Schappell

Staff was friendly and animals were beautiful. Park was fairly well-maintained. I wish there had been more variety of animals; I would almost prefer to call it a "preserve" than a Zoo, but then again I don't know the technical difference. Overall, we enjoyed our time with the family. A quick visit.

Ilze Kumpiņa

Nice, clean and animals are easy to spot, because closures are very small.

April Anthony- Scaturro

I wish they had more room. The enclosures seem too small for a lot of the animals . The people were very nice and the carousel was great

merriette zirpoli

They have a sloth! My son almost moved in lol. Great zoo.

Angel Morace

We had a great time! Just wish the Carousel was open.

David Reese

Great day to visit the zoo...great zoo to visit.

punit shetty

Small place. Few animals but they are in good shape. Can spend good couple of hours.

Eve Francis

Love zoos and aquariums. I like the outdoors feel that this zoo has. Red wolf are Beautiful.

Matt Scanlon

No tigers / no bears - need some revitalization

Andrew Ford

A small, quiet zoo in a park setting. The zoo is situated on a rather large incline, so the walk from front to back may be a challenge for some. There is not a particularly large number of animals, but you will find a farm-like children's zoo with goats, sheep, and the like up front and enclosures with exotic animals throughout the park. Highlights included the red pandas, leopards (most unfortunately the old amur leopard died earlier this year, though the zoo is attempting to acquire another), red wolves, Magnus the coyote, penguins, otters, a variety of owls, tortoise racing, and a small South American rain forest exhibit. Parking was plentiful even on a weekend, and the $8 adult admission ($7 for college students, seniors, and military, and $6 for children) is more than fair.

Shelly Dunican

Nice zoo, loved the animals

Brian Cummings

Nice zoo

Joshua O'Brien

I know the zoo and its employees do their best with the limited resources they have, but it needs more animals. At least half of the mile long walk has no exhibits, and often times the special events they run are half baked. The zoo is very kind to the animals they do have though, as they focus on rehabilitation into the wild rather than domestication of the creatures under their care. I'd love to see them get a massive grant or donation so they could do more than just survive.

Amber Adams

Nice zoo.

Josh Marshall

Great place kids love it, animals are usually up and around

Tim Huntley

Different then what I remember from the last time I was there. But its was nice

Wendy Unsain

They continue to improve this was my first visit in over 30 years had a good time

Lori Lord

Parts of the place looked liked an abandon park. Merry go round shut down boarded up tall grass growing all around it no bears no giraffes no elephants strictly zoo and no kids rides Landscaping not very well maintained

Danny Hernandez

Its great for kids

David Gosselin

Not enough animals but they try to make it nice

Nicholas Price

Had a fun time

Robin Beck

We went for Easter. The kids had a very nice time. The zoo had an Easter egg hunt. At the end of the hunt , the kids traded in the eggs for treats. They had there piture taken with the bunny. The animals were awesome. The zoo seems to be taking good care of them It was a very nice day.

Dorie Grant

Cool animals to look at great experience

Robert Horton

Perfect zoo for young children to walk. Plenty of shade and areas to rest around the 1 1/4 mile looping exhibit trail. Plenty of exhibits in which most of the animals were out. Just dont expect to find elephants, rhinos, or other large zoo exhibits here.

Dave Noe

Nice small zoo. Clean, well organized zoo Brew and wine tasting

Becky Kent

Had a lot of fun visiting all the animals. A smaller zoo but you get in your exercise :)

Daniel Parisot

Very fun, family friendly place. The staff is very friendly.

Brian Mellem

Always love our local zoo. It may not be huge or have a ton of animals. But you can always see the animals without issue. It's just big enough for little kids. It's good exercise too!

Kai Farrell

Small zoo, but close to home, and a nice place to take the children for a little fresh air and exercise. Ross Park Zoo also has a zoomobile, which gives kids the opportunity to pet various animals.

Fabienne

Still the best zoo. Loved the sloth and baby porcupine.

W. A. Marcotte

Cute zoo if you don’t mind walking hills. Get on the Local Flavor app and get four tickets for $16.

Chantel Braxton

Always enjoy the zoo

Edward Everitt

Wonderful place to take the entire family.

Dale Battaglia

Nice little zoo. Great for kids.

Fred Rogers

Small zoo with friendly and helpful staff. My wife and I enjoyed a visit there with our grandson yesterday.

bryan horton

Real nice for a small zoo. Be perpared to walk up hill the entire time

Miranda B

I always love going to the zoo! Go when it is colder out or raining to see the animals being more active and outside. Lots of fun!

The space Cowboy

Always love going here

Cheryl Strick

Our zoo is a wonderful resource. It has many educational opportunities and has education on conservation. It is in a beautiful wooded glen. The exhibits feature many endangered species. There are red pandas, snow leopards, snow owls, eagles, and so much more. The new director is focusing on accessibility. They plan to run a vehicle to help folks get to the top area that gas south American porcupines, a sloth, penguins and otters! Truly a hidden treasure.

rebecca walter

Shouldn't be called a zoo. They have hardly any animals. Its not the same anymore
