This Zoo corresponds to the category of Zoo.
The Zoo is small but has a decent amount of animals. The other factor I love is they have several themes with the displays to add a more fun factor to the exhibits. Great place to go and it isn't too comercial like other zoos. Expect to visit every exhibit with in an hour or two.
Very nice zoo, the baby animals were amazing. We adored the sloths, snow leopards, porcupines and most of all the family of gibbon apes
Anbolibo place very nice
Small and cozy! My kids loved this place!
Had a really good time with the kids here. The snow leopards were in hiding snoozing the day away but there are so many neat attractions that it didn't matter to miss out on 1.
Spent the day with with wife, daughter and grandson. All the enclosures are well kept and animals seemed quite happy. Be aware that the gibbons exhibit might come with rain in the form of gibbon pee, it was hysterical watching a few folks look around like it was raining only to realize the monkey has found a way to urinate around the onlookers. Strong work stone zoo for an amazing day and strong work Mr gibbon sir for your ingenuity
Good for the young 'uns.
I always liked this zoo but I haven't gone for years and just swung by recently and saw that they did a huge face lift! It looks really nice now, it's a great community zoo, not too big but just the right size, especially for families with small kids. Zoo lights which will be coming up is also a fav and a great attraction to check out in the winter months!
Fun to go with the kid, he'll love it as he gets just a little older. Still had fun.
Much improved but could still use a bit of work...great staff informative and friendly
Small zoo but great for kids.
Snow leopards, a birds of prey show, and bears. Improving every year.
Great Christmas lights. The animals looked well - cared for and we were able to enjoy seeing the wide variety of animals and glimpsing the shy ones as well as the showoffs (monkeys). Parking around Christmas was tricky, but we were lucky to find spots in the lot.
The snow leopard family is amazing! The staff are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They have tie ups with the Franklin Park zoo and the animals often rotate between the two so if you're looking for a particular animal, check before you head to the zoo. I went for a hot chocolate with reindeers during the holidays when they have the Christmas lights on. Wasn't worth the $30 but still an interesting experience with a lot of info on reindeers.
I loved this place so much. There were so many animals. I would come to this place a ton almost every weekend if I could. I loved it the last time I went. I would definitely consider taking your kids to this place. Or just coming by yourself or with a friend/loved one.
The Zoo is small but has a decent amount of animals. The other factor I love is they have several themes with the displays to add a more fun factor to the exhibits. Great place to go and it isn't too comercial like other zoos. Expect to visit every exhibit with in an hour or two.
Had a great time at the sloth encounter highly recommended
We went here on a rainy day, just myself and my four year old. It was great and all of the staff members were eager to teach my son everything they could about the animals. It is a smaller zoo so in that way, the animals are somewhat limited but it’s perfect for a short zoo trip.
Nice. Especially good to visit with small children. Some animals could use more space, especially the big cats.
Wonderful zoo, great educational and extra programs. We loved breakfast with the turtles! The best part of the zoo is how they adapt to the seasons!!
Tiny Urban zoo... With very nice staff and some beautiful animals, but very small enclosures for some who are showing cage distress (pacing, repetitive motions). Beautiful holiday decorations, great interpretive signs. Really good for small children.
They have done some upgrades and made it enjoyable for smaller children. Not the Franklin Park, but closer to home.
Very nice place. Achievable with young children - just not sure if when REALLY busy as most have strollers and the walkways, intersections and even exhibits get pretty packed. Can't fault the zoo there - an abundance of people typically sours any experience. Some insects and animals haven't made their Spring debut but sounds like by Summer everything is stocked and they open a snack bar in Summer too. Little playground for the kids - again awesome if the kids aren't on the slide with 1,700 other little ones. We saw virtually all of the animals. Not sure if it was the day and time, or the animals and the creation of the viewing spaces. Sooo nice to see animals at the zoo! Check around for potential discounts. The ticket folks will grill you about using them like you are taking the discount out of their pay check, but I'd like to think they are passionately protecting the revenue that services the animals. Good time. Can easily do it in 3 hours if your kids have that attention span - shorter or longer on your preference. Ate a picnic lunch ...just not downwind from the flamingos
Great for kids.
Nice smaller size zoo with a decent selection of animal exhibits. The bird show is really nice. Some mist machines around for hot days. Decent price and not to crowded with free parking.
Was enjoying it until someone walking around was blowing pot smoke in my kids face. All for it but not around kids. The staff inside the store was nasty about it too.
Clean and amazing staff! The staff was engaging and very knowledgeable!
Small but perfect for kids Stone Zoo is a great place to take the kids. No big game but lots of interesting animals to see. Snow Leopard are amazing and you get close.
first and maybe last zoo i ve entered in my life. i just cant enjoy seeing animals kept in these places
This is one of the smallest zoos I've ever seen, and the enclosures are cruelly small. Seeing birds with functional wings confined to small rooms is especially painful to witness. It's time to do the right thing and at the very least make much larger enclosures and better care for the animals. And enough with the bright Christmas lights and loud sounds right next to a bunch of animals attempting to sleep. This zoo appears to care less about the animals than most zoos.
This zoo is small, but it was clean and had a good variety of unique animals. Great place for kids.
Lots of fun for little kids.
Great zoo with some cute and beautiful animals. Many new personnel that don't know too much about the animals, but hopefully that will improve with time. New layout and construction looks great.
This zoo just made me really sad. Lots of herd and pack animals without herds or packs. Lots of animals in inappropriately small enclosures, poorly kept and dirty. Had some kinda goat lookin thing with a giant tumor(?) on its back that so lonely it came up for scratches. It was filthy, shedding, and turned my hand black. There was no engagement opportunities for anything that I saw - - no toys, scratching posts, salt licks. The reindeer had dead trees to rub his velvet off which was nice, but it also was otherwise In a completely dry dirt lot. The best part was a wild bunny roaming around that seemed to be the only animal there happy, with proper shelter, and good sized enclosure. It was not on display. If you love animals, do not go here. Do not support this sad, sad zoo. It gets most of its money from families trying to spend a Saturday who don't know any better.
We go here as a quick day outing but it's a odd place. No food at all in off season, not even a sandwich at the gift shop even though they have fridges. Animals are in decent enclosures so that's good. Weird pathways though too. There is no way to get from one side to the other without doubling back.
It's a small zoo, but there are some interesting animals there like snow leopards, jaguars, and gibbons. They've made some improvements recently. The revamped flamingo exhibit is very nice and also hosts (weather permitting) two macaws that you can see close up.
Awesome place for a afternoon with the family
Great little zoo. The main problems are it is little and the weather was cold. The otter is super cute. The about leopards are great. I would suggest visiting. My wife, our kids her friend, her friends kid and I all went for most of the day.
Just set up the membership for here and Franklin park zoo which is a GREAT deal for any family, allows you to go to both parks many times with friends and whatnot to have fun and see the animals, got to see a baby monkey, adorable, and can't wait to come back again later this year. Happy to help the conservation efforts!!!
Pretty good decent size zoo too
Visit a few times a year, although it is small it is perfect for afternoon getaways with loved ones. The animals are usualy pretty active. Friendly staff and well kept grounds.
Animals were super active which was nice but the sign on the highway said the snow leopards were cubs and they all looked full grown which was disappointing. Still a cool zoo with lots of animals though!
Perfect for a young kid (and me). It's a bit small but it's pretty manageable for a toddler to walk around in, and honestly I loved it
Nice visiting the yak, flamingos, bears, bald eagle, snow leopards, wolf, goats, etc.
I really like this zoo. The kids camp is also really amazing for my son.
I'm really fond of Stone Zoo. It's small and manageable for little kids with plenty of interesting animals to check out. Monkeys are a big hit and so are the otter if they are awake. A little pricey for a family of four - unless you go more than three times a year and then a membership really pays off. But their mailing list, though. You'll never never get off it as long as you live.
Been going to the stone zoo with the family for a few years. It used to look really run down and sad, but with all the new updates they have made it looks a lot better.
The zoo is great to visit with a variety of animals in display. There could be more species added but overall the visit was lots of fun, especially for children. The 'cafe' could be better. There is a really small cafe with exorbitant prices (but I guess that should be expected)
I had a really nice time wandering around the zoo. There was a lot to see, and the viewing areas were not to crowded. Most of the animals were active. We even got to see the jaguars wrestling!
We really enjoyed the time with animals. This zoo is a small place but compact and interesting. Especially my son really liked the show for birds feeding. I have a membership card for this and Franklin zoo. And it worth it. I will visit again definitely.
It was a very warm day, and we were there just after noon. So most of the animals were resting. But the zoo was clean and worth a visit!
I work at a school for students with disabilities and we recently went to the Stone Zoo for a field trip. Every single staff person we encountered was phenomenal. But the most memorable thing for me was lunch time. Many of my students have purchasing routines in which they work on money skills. Sometimes, it's a long process. But everyone working at the Safari Grill was so incredibly patient. A couple of the employees even helped my kids count out the right amounts. It was amazing. It's not uncommon for people to be rude to my kids. So any time people are nice, it's a welcome event. But the guys working the grill and lunch area were fantastic. We will definitely return!
Beautiful. Most say small for for toddlers it's quite enough. Very well done.
Amazing place to bring the little ones!! Brought my 3yr old daughter and had an amazing time exploring and the wildlife and capturing priceless moments together!
Love the animals, wish there was more food options!
Took our first grade class on a field trip and they loved it
Love Stone Zoo! A must stop when we go to boston! Well maintained, clean. Animals seem happy and well cared for. Absolutely love the snow leopards.
Nice place to spend an afternoon! Be sure to check out the chats and shows
Always a great experience! Even when the parking lot is full we never feel that there are tons of people and we enjoy all the animals!!
Nice local zoo. Great for a quick visit. Wonderful local resource. My kiddos love it. They have put a lot of money and time to upgrade the space. Understand that this is not the Brooklyn Zoo or San Diego zoo. If you are looking for a bigger zoo/full day , head to the Franklin Park zoo in Boston. It is more varied. Staff is well informed and helpful. Several fun animal shows throughout the day.
Promising Start, very poor maintenance!!! I haven't visited this Zoo in a few years, so i was almost gitty to return. First we didn't know if it was going to be open for the 4th of July. We looked at another Zoo the night before that had the holiday hours. We found a post the morning of that said it will be open, so very poor planning and marketing for that day imo. We arrived and the Entrance was breath taking. Very beautiful compared to what use to be the ticket booth. We weren't given a map after purchasing our tickets, and really didn't notice the map dispenser as you walk in. I don't think we noticed it because our eyes were drawn up to the beautiful new flamingo enclosure as you walk in. Definitely wish there was a rate this enclosure app for each one at every Zoo. Some where 5 others not so much. I understand being a small community Zoo money isn't pouring from the clouds, but BASIC upkeep in the encloses can go along way. With that being said, temperatures topped out around 87*-90* that day. We noticed in a lot of the enclosures there wasn't your basic water source. I'm sure they had water in their sleeping enclosure but those are closed. After noticing it for the first few enclosures, it was almost like someone had shaved your eyebrow off, very hard to not notice it from that point on. We did however notice that employees had a bottle of water in their hand, in fact like 95% of them did. I'm sure the Zoo has many big plans for great enclosures for their animals and for the future of the Zoo. That time is not now, and should upkeep with what you do have in front of you. I hope my return visit to this Zoo will be a different one.
Great day. Stoneham had come a far way. Has more animals and super cute babies. Fun bird show
The zoo is great to visit with a variety of animals in display. There could be more species added but overall the visit was lots of fun, especially for children. The 'cafe' could be better. There is a really small cafe with exorbitant prices (but I guess that should be expected)
Great. Kids had a wonderful time with trick or treat at the zoo.
Great place for children of all ages, ample parking, and food and drink can be brought or purchased in site.
Small zoo, but they have a nice variety of animals, especially from Central and South America.
I love that they preserved the Stone Zoo!! It was a little heard to find but so worth it when we found it! The cages were so sad to see but luckily no animals in there anymore. It was nice to be able to envision what the zoo was like. The area was clean and nice to walk around. Love it!!
We took our daughter and family last weekend. Perfect day, perfect place to go! The kids really enjoyed it, and there was plenty to stimulate them and keep their attention.
It was great! Some over priced items in the gift shop but I guess that’s expected. Seeing some of the animals waiting by the doors is a sad sight! Also where was the wolf, we were fairly disappointed he was not in his habitat!
Smaller than Franklin park, but very convenient for North Shore people.
I had a really nice time wandering around the zoo. There was a lot to see, and the viewing areas were not to crowded. Most of the animals were active. We even got to see the jaguars wrestling!
Good family experience
Best time for someone who loves animals
Went for zoo lights which was great until I saw some of the sizes and conditions of the enclosures thetanimals were in. Some of them had the animals just running around on concrete. Others were just way too small. It felt as if they didn't care about the animals quite Franky. Really need to improve upon them.
Cute Zoo. Good for a day with the family You get to pack your own lunch which is great plus free parking
Nice collection of rare animals.
Though many of the animals were sheltering for the winter we did get to enjoy seeing a number of them. The volunteers present were friendly and helpful as well. Definitely a recommend.
Very nice place for the family. They have different animals that I haven't seen in other zoos. Great for kids and adults. The animals are nice and clean.
Quality animal habitats, great location, good diverse species profile, and good attendance prices. I would recommend it for small groups, schools, and family outings.
Beautiful animals. Interesting stories. Love learning more at the classes in the "center". Easy walk-through. Activities and events. Holiday events are amazing. Particularly Zoo Lights in winter. Zoo members get free admissions to both Stone and Franklin Park Zoo. Good for dates and family time.
Love this place, just would like the animals not look so sad
Fun experience...we went on a pretty hot day, so the animals were mostly hiding from the heat. But staff was very friendly and some even were standing by exhibits and explaining things about the animals!
Very clean- really enjoyed seeing all of the animals. I would recommend this zoo. Kid friendly too
We visited in the cold season so there were not a lot of visitors but it had a decent collection of animals and the map was not as confusing as other places. There were plenty of locations to sit and have a meal. it was fascinating to see the flamingos!
We really enjoyed the time with animals. This zoo is a small place but compact and interesting. Especially my son really liked the show for birds feeding. I have a membership card for this and Franklin zoo. And it worth it. I will visit again definitely.
Had a great Sunday here with a large group and 3 active kids. We have season passes and were able to get in easily with no line. The Lego animals were incredible!
Awesome. Have a great time. a Manageable zoo
Love this place even still my kids are older and I still love this place beautiful for Christmas too
Great place to enjoy your day with your family and friends
Very small zoo. My daughter always asks where the big animals are. We do like New exhibits. And we like the zoo lights.
First visit! Can't wait to see it again for Christmas Lights!
I had a great time and I Loved the bird show, why not a 5.. I felt like the bald eagle exhibit was so small and he looked sad as hell. It looked like he cant even move. Hope he get to spread his wings sometimes!?!?
We really enjoyed the lights and if you want to see the baby snow leopards go by their cage around 430pm. They are getting ready to eat so they are awake.
We had a great time at the zoo. It's not so large that your tired of walk. Nice variety of animals.
Absolutely LOVE this place! The knowledgeable staff helped us locate some of the more shy animals. We saw so many incredible animals and creatures that my daughter keeps asking to go back every week! They take great care of their creatures and the place is very clean. With plenty of parking (free for that matter) it was very easy to get in and out which is important with 2 younger kids. We loved the flamingos and the bats! So fun. Can't wait to go again soon!
Military discount is great. Couple animals hiding or asleep but it's hot so can't blame them. I liked it. Husband liked it..1 year old half interested. Overall it was a very nice day. I'd recommend.
We have been members for 2 years now, and we love this place!! My 1.5 year old son is obsessed and loves seeing all the different animals and taking part in all the activities. They have a great playground and animals that he can pet, as well as plenty of large or wild animals that are fun to see. Its a smaller zoo so perfect for a few hours in the morning of afternoon. Its never too crowded either which adds to the appeal. Highly recommend it
We had a fantastic time!! Enjoyed the atmosphere an would go again. Great for all ages. My 4 children ages 5 mos, 2, 8, and 12 years old were all happy. My sister, boyfriend, niece and I also enjoyed ourselves. Definetley a day well spent. Thank you Stone Zoo!
Not much to see, expensive for what they have. Good for a visit if you’ve never been free parking
This zoo is amazing!! It has enough attractions for all ages, and the paths are wide for the young ones to run to the next without getting in the way. Their petting zoo is not that big but they also have a playground for the kids to release energy. Definetly will take my 2 year old granddaughter back to this zoo.
It was very disappointing, it was very small and there was hardly anything to see. The price was high for the experience.
Very nice smaller zoo
It is a wonderful place
This is a very good small to medium sized zoo. The recent renovations make a big difference. The flamingoes are now in an open air enclosure. There is far less odor than the old space. There are also "air locks" so you can walk in paths inside the enclosure.
A great space for the kids to walk around. They made some great improvements in the past few years, but still a lot to be improved.
New Flamingo exhibit is impressive. All animals seem to be very healthy. Bird show was fun for the kids.
The zoo has been updated since the last time I came many years ago! As of this review, there was one small areaof the zoo that was under construction, but it looked like they were building something fun! The staff are very helpful and there are plenty of opportunities to learn more about the animals! The maps and signs were easy to follow and the walkways were wide enough to easily accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Many exhibits allowed for close interaction with the animals! I had such a great time here!
Great local zoo with really easy free parking and cute animals to get really close to.
Small but clean and very pretty.
A good little zoo. A little pricy for the size of it. Though we got in at a discounted rate since we are members of the philly zoo. Several of the exhibits it was very hard to see in as the glass they used caused real bad reflection making it more of a mirror then a window. We did not see the wolf either. He has a very big habitat but was hiding well. There is also a small petting area with two goats and a playground. They also have a few mechanical rides that range in price of 50 cents to 3$. Def worth a visit but don’t plan to spend hours there due to size.
Cute, quick, and always great exhibits
Great zoo. Love the rustic scenery and animals. Daughter had a great time thank you stone zoo
The bird show was great.
Please clean your enclosures and provide your animals with their NEEDS. Goats are pack animals they need friends, things to play with and structures to jump on. If you want to visit a “zoo” where animals are taken very good care of and their needs are met visit the Gray animal farm in Maine.
I wish there were more animals but it's a fun place to go
This is a lovely zoo. We walked most of it in about 2 hours, with 2 kiddos (8 and 12) and 2 seniors. Even on a warm day (mid-80s), there were lots of places to rest in the shade which was refreshing. It's a relatively small zoo, but the exhibits are well done. There is great information on each animal, its habitat, and its status as common vs. endangered. There were several large, open air exhibits where the animals looked healthy and room to move, which is important for me when going to a zoo.
Lots of different species of animals to view. Great photo opportunities. Wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking involved. Carry sunscreen and a cap if you are heading out in warmer weather.
Awesome had a great time with my lovely wife
The Legos exhibition and the Halloween decoration was just perfect for the zoo for these days. A very good zoo!
We went to see the Christmas lights so, most of the animals weren't out. It was a really fun experience and I would recommend going especially for young kids. We still saw lots of animals and enjoyed seeing the owls awake. My daughter really wanted to ride the rides but was too scared to ride by herself and they wouldn't let an adult ride with her except for the carousel.
This review is after my first time going to the stone zoo as an adult. I brought my kid here and was actually pretty disappointed. There were a decent variety of animals but a lot of them were very difficult to observe due to the vast space each animal requires and the concealment vegetation provides. That's understandable as the animals comfort is more important to our desire to observe them. What I found to be truly disappointing however was the lack of clean glass. A lot of the animals are small and don't require a lot of space and are in enclosed glass, but it was almost impossible to see through most of the glass because they were covered in gross, sticky smudges from grubby children's hands. It was quite gross. It wouldn't be too much to hire a kid to walk around and clean the glass a few times a day. The price of admission is a little steep for some rare, no show animals, foggy glass and a bacterial breeding ground.
Military discount is great. Couple animals hiding or asleep but it's hot so can't blame them. I liked it. Husband liked it..1 year old half interested. Overall it was a very nice day. I'd recommend.
Great zoo for the family, the staff is very helpful and informative and the food is very good.
Great family place, easy to get around, not too big and lots of different animals
Wonderful Zoo! Great, unique animals from around the world! Well supported staff everywhere to answer questions and provide interesting facts surrounding various species.
Highly recommend it
Great Zoo! Great habitats for the animals, interesting animals, great learning opportunity. Nice local activity.
Easy parking, nice facility, playground and store. Pretty much everything you would ask for in a zoo.
Great local zoo. Kids loved it
Run down. Very few impressive animals. Looks like it's ready to close down. Petting zoo area only had one goat in it. Monkey enclosure was over run by mice. The place is in desperate need of attention.
We enjoyed it , the staff is unbelievable so knowledgable.
Fun little zoo especially for the kids. Surprising amount of animals on site including lots of big cats. Parking is free and there are plenty of spaces most days. Zoo membership allows entry into both Stone Zoo and Franklin which is a nice perk.
Went on a semi rainy day mid afternoon and all the animals were out and playing, kids loved it.
My kids loved the zoo. They have done a ton of remodeling in the past few years. It looks great.
A nice small zoo to visit with the grandkids.
Great price for a family and it was a beautiful day and caught the bird show which we loved
This is a darn cool zoo. It's worth even a half hour stop if you get the chance. The layout is so unique compared to other zoos, winding paths with a compact design allow you to see so many different animals in such a short time. The reptile and insect house doesn't boast the most diverse selection, but they have a surprisingly large collection of birds! And a porcupine, who has a porcupine? The otters were so playful and fun, right up against the glass on land, putting on this goofy show. The animals are upbeat and active, which to me means they are treated well. They put a lot of effort into their Christmas lights event, that's worth the visit too!
This is a great small zoo. We have a family membership so even if we stop by for a half hour or so it is a nice place to go. It can get busy on summer weekends, nothing super exciting, just nice and chill.
What a wonderful experience. Super friendly staff and clean restrooms. The zoo was nice and clean and had loads to see. They offer admission discounts if you receive MA food stamps & if I'm not mistaken WIC as well. I would gladly return.
Trash in animal enclosures? Yes, hard to believe! So many cages were empty, but then perhaps that's not a bad thing. Many of the birds and animals were in the tiniest of cages and made me think that it must have felt like been in solitary confinement. There's a reason today's modern zoos are open to the sky or, in the case of birds, are big enough for true flight. And to see the black bears surrounded by trash, was quite a surprise and disappointment. We won't be back.
Fantastic small zoo. The zoo isn’t too big and yet they have enough number of exhibits to cover in 2-3 hours. They have a decent number of critically endangered creatures which served as a great example for why we need to work for their conservation. I thought it was immensely cool to see animals from the Caribbean/Central America living bright next to animals native to the arctic climate. The restrooms were clean and easy to locate. All trails and exhibits were marked very clearly. Ample parking also available. Great place to take your kids to. Go there even if you have already seen the Franklin and Southwick zoos, it’s a very different experience.
At some point, I convinced myself to check out the Stone Zoo. They had a special for those wearing Patriots Attire. I didn't have any but wrote "Go Pats" on my collarbone with an eyeliner and crossed my fingers. The attendant was not impressed with my artistic expression of loyalty to our New England team. She had to go ask if this was allowed. As it was 2:30 and the zoo is closing in 90 minutes, maybe they decided to give me a break. Giddy, I trampled in with my bad eyeliner tattoo. 90 minutes was actually enough time to get around the space though 2 hours would have been better. I take my time at the zoo looking at all the animals. Favorites were the bats, an orange monkey swinging around with her baby, the brown bears, and the snow leopard babies. They were playful and active. Some of the animals looked sad and desolate, but that's just how most zoos are. For a small zoo this was a nice place to visit.
Great staff very helpful, the kids had a fun time
Very well kept and the animals look healthy and alert. Never realized it was an actual zoo until recently. Always thought it was a park full of statues. Silly me.
I excepted so much more from this zoo. I did like the fact that they had little sprinkler systems set up thru out the zoo just in case people are overheating. But the prices for food are outrageous. All the animals where hiding which is understandable its hot out. But they did have some great animals there. It is not a big zoo at all so if your excepting to spend the day with the family do not go there you will be disappointed.
I haven't been since I was a young kid and I'm 29 now and I had just as much fun as I did back then! With an EBT card the tickets are $4.00 which is such a good deal
Enjoyed this zoo alot. Lots to see.
It was a good place to bring the little kids, see Santa and watch them wow at the Birds & Animals. The Flamingos are a sight to see and hear, the smell not so much. The lights are very well done. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic small zoo. The zoo isn’t too big and yet they have enough number of exhibits to cover in 2-3 hours. This is a great little Zoo. It's always clean, the people who work there are helpful and informative, and it's a great Zoo for little people because of its manageable size. If you think you will go more than once I strongly recommend the Zoo membership. It also has fun special events like trick or treating at Halloween or the Easter Bunny in the spring.
I brought my 7 year old granddaughter to the Stone Zoo for the first time. It took us about 3 hours to go through. We both loved it! There were great signs to read and learn about each animal. She was hoping for a larger area of animals to pet, but there was only one goat. We would go back!
Did not hate this place. As a matter of fact it was one of the best experiences I've had in a while. The zoo was closed for personal people as myself and others who had paid for a ticket to contribute to the wellness of the animals. And then there was also a food tasting thing going on in the zoo so as you walked around and you saw the animals you got to taste different things from different restaurants from different areas. It was awesome. Well worth the contribution.
Great zoo for small children. Alot of educational programs and information
I take my toddler here almost every weekend. It's small enough that we can actually make it through most parts of the zoo in an afternoon. In the summer time, they open their petting zoo more often.
It is an ok Zoo. Small and have just enough vary species.
I love the zoo and Stone Zoo was a great, especially with a baby! It was so lovely and the staff was quite courteous
Great, local zoo. It's not as fancy or well known as Franklin Park, but I've been coming here since I was a child and it's always improving, getting better. They have great events for adults too, when you become annual members.
A great time spent learning and watching the animals with the family! Will be returning and recommending Stone Zoo. The only disappointment was the rides they advertise. They are geared more for the younger ages. Would love to see a camel or elephant ride here in the future. A great presentation about 'the birds of flight!' Definitely educational and entertaining, with the ability to take pictures at the end and ask addition questions!
Fun zoo and easy to walk through in about three to four hours
Great zoo. Lots to do in a really local environment.
Park is clean friendly staff and the Birds of Prey exhibition was really good.
Good compliment to the Franklin Park Zoo. They have what the other one doesn't.
The animals don't have a lot of room. It's sad.
Even though it's cold the animals were all over the place. The baby snow leopards we're awesome and super playful. They were pouncing all over each other and climbing one of the trees. The other animals were awesome as well, those that are tropical are away for the winter which is nice to see because it's way too cold for parrots and alligators. The Christmas lights were on too, which were very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Expensive & tiny. Overpriced considering the small number of exhibits & animals. Very family friendly, though, and great for smaller children.
As far as small zoo's go the Stone Zoo was wonderful. I went at the end of January and I was surprised at how nice it was and how much room a lot of the animals. Even though it was winter there were many animals to interact with. I'll definitely be going back.
I loved the zoo. I was really disappointed that I couldn't see the snow leopards they were too far away! The same with the wolves but I think they probably come out when the people are gone. I guess I wouldn't want to be stared at all day!! A lot of fun,I am thinking of going again before it starts to get too cold.
Biggest waste of $50+ ever. 2 adults 1 child going on a zoo trip. Get there and most small glass enclosures your couldn't see thru because of glare and dirt. The flamingo enclosure had thick green slimy water full of algae and poop that stunk. The large enclosures had maybe 1 or no animal at all. There was alot of trash around. It was the worst part of our trip. There is so much more wrong but it's too much to list. I never ever complained about any place or ever have given 1 star to anyone I think..if I could give less I would in this case. Very bad experience.
Great little zoo! Cant beat it for the price!
It is a nice little zoo. It was a Saturday when I went and it is filled with families. It was very nice to see all the animals. I especially happy to see the otter it woke up and yawned made a couple of noises at me then curled back up lol I love otters!
Small, but a nice trip for the kids. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
It needs updating for sure. The staff was friendly and the food was good. Some of the outside animals didn't have shelters, we didn't like that. This is a place you only want to visit when it's not raining. Otherwise, it's not too big or too small. It's just right when you have small children and is very stroller friendly.
Has gotten better over the years. Decent selection of animals, large place for humans to walk around (but enclosures seem small for the animals). The bird show we saw was great and informative. Plenty of entertainment and education for kids.
Nice animals. A bit pricey but sweet animals.
A great evening at Stone Zoo giving scholarship awards to dedicated Zoo staff!
Great family outing, not expensive, nice exhibits and the big cats are easy to see!
A small zoo with a wide variety of animals and birds to see. It's manageable size-wise and perfect for small kids and families.
We've been going to this zoo for a few years now. I love the recent enhancements they've made. The new Caribbean area with the parrots, iguanas, and flamingos was awesome. My son loved that he could be so close to the animals.
Nice little zoo. A variety of animals and birds. The new flamingo exhibit is very nice - so colorful. If you look closely, you'll even see a Scarlett Ibis mixed in amongst the flamingos. There are picnic tables in shaded areas so you can bring a lunch. The zoo is clean and you can tell they are making improvements. Can't wait to meet the 2 new baby snow leopards in August. They have a live camera in with them now so we can watch them on a big TV screen.
Have been multiple times (including for their Zoo Lights display). Love, love, love this place. Parking fills up fast if you come right at opening for the Zoo lights but wait an hour or so after opening to grab a closer spot. You can do the whole zoo in 1.5- 2hrs or less.
All exhibits open. Animals looked healthy and well taken care of. 0
Small zoo with limited animals but still fun
Nice zoo. Not super big, but they have plenty of interesting animals for the kids to see. Most exhibit spaces are nice, though some looked a bit sad for the animal. Especially like the cheetah and gibbons.
Cool animals and beautiful snow leopards! Good cafe and gift shop. New renovation is amazing and animals look happy and healthy. Would highly recommend!
