This Zoo belongs to the category of Zoo.
Super awesome they have monkeys and bats and a sloth and some of them just run around free. Tons of animals and plants to see just an overall really neat experience. Feels like you're exploring a jungle without the danger. The pyramid itself is super cool to see in real life.
Price to get in was about 25 each. All staff was very friendly. Some animals have free run of the place to I got to get really close to several. There is alot of information posted like the animals that were out. We saw all of them, except for the sloth, unfortunately. Temperature was very comfortable. Both kid and adult friendly. Within walking distance of the aquarium, also lots of fun there. We walked the length of the path in the garden in about half an hour, taking time to see all the plants and animals. Then came back and walked it 2 more times. All animals were active and in different places. Highly recommend.
Great place to visit and the kids always have a good time. Concession help the animals and plant care so it's always good to support. SpongeBob was a little too much water in the face but overall a great time was had by the whole family
This was very interesting. Although there were alot of people it never felt crowded. Plenty to do for the whole family. Quite a verity of animals information and more. Must see.
Amazing! So many great animals and plant life to look at. Something to see where ever you look and the animals are everywhere! So many walked right by us so close we could have touched (but don't lol). Love the variety. But was very disappointed the butterfly part is no longer there. Used to be one of my favorite parts!
This place is awesome. My first time going to Galveston and not going just to the beach. It has so many attractions and great place for children. If you don't like heat and humidity this is not the place for you, this pyramid mimics the climate of a rainforest which most of these animals call home. There are areas where you can go inside and have air condition. There is also a cafeteria style area where you can get snacks nachos all sorts of things once you leave the rainforest. And let's all remember there's no flash photography!
Nice plant life. Nice animals. No strollers allowed though? What about wheelchairs? Very slick walkways too.
Amazing variety of plants and animals really great experience
Good place but don't seem to ever have all of the exhibits up.
It is one of the best place to visit around Houston. It is controlled climate inside the greenhouse. All the tropical birds, trees and animals are in there.
More than I expected. Very nice.
It was AMAZING! I could not stop grinning.
Took lot's of pictures.. There is more to do...... We only did this. Great place to bring kids. Hotel right there too...
Very cool place to see plants, animals and fishes up close. Great spot to bring kids.
Good experience if you like to see and touch tropical plants. Small selection of tropical birds and fish. Minute selection of animals.
Nice place to take the grandkids.
Awesome. Kids loved it. Walk slow and look carefully to get the most out of the visit.
It really was an unusual event
For a Friday there was not very many staff working.. went with my son's 2nd grade and had a group of 96 children as a free for all plus had 7 other schools at the same time.. lucky no disasters happen.. over all just needed more staff.
Exciting place to view tropical animals... Be nice if there were several more exotic creatures running around.
We had a wonderful time. Our visit to the Rainforest in Galveston Tx. was an exciting way to spend the day. It was awesome to experience, right here in Texas, how animals function in their habits abroad. This trip was really educational in a relaxing setting.
You just have to see for yourself.
We loved to walked around this pyramid I wanted to see the ocelote but it wasn't there even though I had so much fun there
While visiting moody gardens it has 3 sections of which this place is the first on my list.
I love this pyramid. The orchids are amazing. Very beautiful. I wish there were benches or hammocks. I would stay forever it's so beautiful.
It was absolutely beautiful, definitely worth it. And they have two SLOTHS!!!
Had been to the pyramid previously and remember that in my previous visit there were more animals.
To hot in the rainforest pyramid. They really need to figure out temperature control.
Loved it! This was the first place I visited in Houston! Super experience and kids loved it!
This was a very unique and very fun experience I would definitely recommend it.
For a " moody" venture it's ok bit over priced for a foundation that is owned by a family that literally has their own bank / insurance company so are use to extorting people .... it caters more to tourists than locals whom are severly underpaid sadly ..the animals seem fairly well cared for if not a bit subdued espicially the few macaws sadly did not see the ocelot at all but meh ...it's been redesigned and is a bit much for persons in wheelchairs / ambulatory difficulties to navigate due to the steep inclines and turns ...only reason its 4 stars is because its informative and a partial sanctuary for these plants and animals
Definitely Rainforest hot and atmosphere. Tons of animals and plants. A/C vents outside to cool off.
A good place to see some really cool animals.
Having actually been to many rainforest areas this place has absolutely nailed it! Everything but the bugs and muddy boots. Might seem expensive but we'll worth every penny.
They actually look like they take care of their animals unlike other places I've been to.
Fast and great service friendly people
Always a great place to go. However, the main pyramid was full of smoke and when I asked a worker why, she acted silly and immature and didn't want to answer me. I found her millinial reaction disgusting. As a business owner, I do not find it cute or beneficial to Moody's standards.
Love coming here. Great place to bring kids.
Excellent place por enjoy wirh family and friends!
First time to rainforest, was great!! Loved it!!! Heart family fun
Lots of fun things to view. If you have kids or act like a kid this is a great way to beat the heat and explore.
Wonderful viewing of the birds and flowers and animals.
The rain forest and aquarium spots were amazing. It was a blast although its kinda pricy. But well worth it.
Loved it! Wish I could get some seeds or clippings from plants... I know I can't do that but still.
Love moody Gardens. Such a neat place.
Great place to see the rainforest
Take an extra shirt to change into after exiting the exhibit, it's hot and steamy year round just like the real thing. Loved it tho!
I love this place its a fun spot to spend time with family
Best pyramid out of them all.
This was my second time to visit the Rainforest Pyramid at Moody Gardens. It is still fantastic. Get ready to sweat as the humidity and temperature in there is quite high.
Most of their employees acted as if they didn't even want to be at work that day. My daughter and I went to the Aquarium and we were disappointed because several of the exhibits were empty and others they were doing some construction work. There was not much to see at the Rainforest either. Overpriced for what you see or in our case don't get to see.
Had fun with the fam
Beautiful animals all around you!
So much to do and see. Liked especially the ray talk. Could have spent more than the 7 hours we.
Just go walk slow and enjoy the forest take time to find even the tiny wildlife
Soooooo Beautiful. Well be going back.
Really humid but super neat to see animals and birds up close.
The animals are up closer and very pretty
Fun place to go. Priced a little too high
Took my gkids .It was a lot of walking .The kids loved it.I loved all the birds and animals.I was so thankful after all the walking they provided us a ride back to the parking lot.
The first full day of our family vacation was a dreary, rainy, monsoon-ish downpour, so we took the family to Moody Gardens and visited the aquarium and rainforest pyramids. They were great. I highly recommend coming here when you're just too burned out on the beach or when weather is keeping you indoors. We had a great time, and if we're ever back in Galveston we'll definitely come back.
This place was amazing! I did not expect you to be able to walk up to so many animals. They also have a number of Keepers that are happy to educate you on what the plants and animals are.
Expected more bit was very nice .
We just love moody gardens.
OMG what a exotic place. Must visit.
Very cool place. Wild bird and monkeys that had free range of the pyramid and all around fun
Really enjoyed walking through the rainforest. Lots of free roaming birds to look for. Pretty hot on the top level but it gets cooler as you make your way down. Couldn't find the sloth
Had a blast! So much to see!
Best pyramid at Moody gardens.
It was very nice but Alot of empty wasted space. Staff was very informative
So fun! The animals are in the pyramid with you, making this an intimate experience. Some are enclosed in their own environments but many of them are just hanging out by the visitors. My only caution is to avoid the Cafe for the pyramids. The food is so overpriced and not good!
Good place to go with kids...
Great place to visit! Proposed to my wife under the light waterfall over 6 years ago. We love revisiting the place!
This place is amazing
It's really fun and informs about our ecosystems in a neat and fun way
Most definitely woth the money
Some gorgeous animals in much closer quarters than I was expecting.
Fun and educational place to explore
The sloths are definitely the best part of the rainforest but my girls love it so much, we visit the rain forest twice every time we visit Moody Gardens. It only takes about 45 minutes to leisurely walk through but tons of interesting things to see. My husband's favorite part is watching the African fish get fed... They are huge!
Beautiful place! It it a multi story pyramid with different exhibits and free roaming animals (birds, sloths, monkeys, etc.) It starts off as a botanical garden and goes through different exhibits including reptiles, mammals, fish, and even little fun facts mixed with a bit of history.
This place is in doors and it is amazing place for tours or even the locals. Love it and would like to attend it again one day. It's a bigger area than you think.
Great for kids.
Such a grand experience with all kinds of tropical animals. The section near the temple with the waterfall reminds me of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The variety of rain forest animals is incredible. While walking through the rain forest you can see different kind of birds flying freely over the place. I loved experiencing the co-existence of animals and humans under one pyramid.
I really enjoyed touring the Moody Gardens rainforest. Seeing all the different animals and birds was a pleasant surprise while walking through the tall vegetation. It's a must see if you're ever in Galveston.
Nice part of Moody Gardens. Couldn't find the tree mammals (sloth, monkeys, etc.) Good information. Nice atmosphere. Fish and birds are unique. Great staff!
It was very beautiful and educational. Going back next summer. Awesomeness
Beautiful place! Prices are great, not too expensive. Make sure to dress a little cooler, even in winter months because it is HOT! A variety of animals roaming about!
Very neat place! Well worth the admission price.
It is expensive which is why it is 4 stars, but It has an amazing quality to it and its animals, though the aquarium is where its at
It's a fun experience I really enjoyed myself.
Very interesting and maintained. I really enjoyed it even though the temperature and humidity reminded me of August in Texas.
Very beautiful. Very humid like a rainforest.
$25 adult admission is probably $10 more than it should be. That aside, the rainforest is an interesting way to kill an hour. The animal exhibits are nice and the residents seem well taken care of.
Great indoor rainforest with lost to see. Tons of plants, fish and birds. A few elusive monkeys can be seen if you watch carefully.
So cool, and a lot of the animals are out 8n the open so best and very educational!
We liked it (though a little warm) incredible variety.
went on a rainy day was a nice break kids were a little to young still to look for the animals in the trees but enjoyed the ones in the contained areas
The closest thing in Texas to the real rain forest
Very neat experience. Animals have free roam of the rainforest exhibit, much like the Butterfly Pavilion in Colorado. Very wide collection of exotic animals.
Moody Gardens was a very neat place to visit. I was a bit disappointed with the rain forest pyramid because there were several exhibits that had been taken out or that we couldn't see because the glass was covered with condensation or fog.
Dump, wont ever go back nor do I recommend it.
Highly recommend for kids or adults. We spent several hours here watching all the birds and trying to find the hidden monkeys. The are huge fish to see . It was thoroughly enjoyable and well worth the money. Definitely would go back. The earlier you arrive the better. While going down there is only one path to go and it can get crowded if many families are going at once. Fun for all though.
Overall, not worth it. The tickets were, on average, about $25. The self-guided course took about an hour to complete. A couple of important things to note: there is no food or drinks allowed within the exhibit, it was ridiculously humid and warm within the pyramid (so don’t have many layers), and there aren’t many free roaming animals. We came in with the expectation that there wouldn’t be many closed structures for animals; unfortunately we were wrong. The whole place was a glorified, depressing zoo. Many in our group left simply feeling bad for the animals. The reason that I am not rating it one star is because the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. To summarize: spending a ridiculous amount of money on an hour of subpar attractions, including some depressed animals, and walking in unbearable humidity is not worth it. Do not spend money here.
It is beautiful here. Wish I had more time
Hot. Not worth the money.
Great place for family and friends
It was pretty great to see the birds and animals up close.
Beautiful displays of wildlife. Fun for kids.
It was good FAMILY Fun
This place was ok. They really didn’t have a lot of animals. Or if they did they were all hiding. The concept is cool. But I didn’t really enjoy it. All the fish exhibits had super cloudy water. You could only see them from the top. Didn’t get to see the sloth. This place is probably hit or miss depending on when you go. But the heat was almost unbearable. That was the biggest turn off for me. I get it’s supposed to be the jungle but it was super hot.
It's a place to walk through slowly to take in all it has to offer. Worth the time! Staff members are helpful.
I spent a year in triple canopy jungles of Vietnam and this was amazing.
Loved this place, so much to see in one pyramid, wow it was awesome !! You get to see so many birds and lots more animals up close. Well worth a visit
Good setup for kids, colorful and maintained well.
It's fun to be a child once in a while.
The Rainforest is amazing. All the different plants are so beautiful. The birds that fly around are a treat to watch and the animal exhibits are always clean and maintained. The monkeys are adorable.
Had not seen it since the opening alot of exotic animals n o w and could use some fans due to heat for the elderly to enjoy it more
Great place, the staff was very friendly and answered any questions we had we will for sure be going back
Unique experience; impressive exhibit. The glass pyramid housing the rainforest is 10 stories tall and some of the trees reach almost to the top. Floral specimens are lovely. Beautiful birds roam freely. There is a water feature replicating the Amazon river and some if it's natural inhabitants like the unusual red and black arapaima. Other creatures like the komodo dragon giant python and blue Amazon snake are behind glass. Highly recommend.
If you're on vacation and the weather isnt so great then this is the perfect place to being the family to walk off some energy (recommended walking age, may be too humid for babies in some areas) they have everything from birds to fish to snakes and Insects. You get to see what life is like in the rainforest. Also dont forget the aquarium and discovery zone while you're here.
It was really hot in the canopy but overall I enjoyed myself
Pretty place inside, but absolutely not worth the money to see birds, fish, and reptiles. Very very hot inside. The thermometer was at 103 and the humidity was at 43%.
It feels like your in a real Rainforest and alot of the animals are loose so you get to feel more closer to the rainforest
Excellent. Had a great time.
A bit hot but full of exotic animals
Beautiful greenery and exotic animals. Fun with the family.
There's a good selection of birds, lizards and mammals. We have visited 5 times, but we still haven't seen the sloth.
This place was okay. It was SO HOT in the rainforest pyramid. & I went in April, so I cant imagine going in the peak of summer. I love zoos and have a love for all animals, but honestly it wasnt that good. The parrot talk was cool seeing all the birds flying to eat but it was only cool for about 5 minutes. The birds never rotated out, it was just the same fee getting fed. I paid to much money for not much fun, unfortunately.
It's was and amazing experience.
We loved the Rain Forrest. We spent about an hour inside. Be aware that it's hot an humid and to dress accordingly. There are ducting vents that blow cold air throughout some areas but it does get hot on the upper levels. There are feedings but you have to go at the right time or stick around long enough to catch them. Unfortunately once you leave, you can't re-enter. There is quite a bit to see and do although we never did find the Sloth and the Monkey loved playing hide and seek. He stayed up high and away from people so it was hard to get pictures. Overall it was a much better experience than the aquarium which I would that you avoid.
So much fun for all ages!
I love this place, interacting with all the animals is always so amazing.
Beautiful adventure full of tropical birds, fish and monkeys.
It was so awesome We really enjoyed this experience.
Worth the price of admission.
It was very exotic and resembled the rainforest very well. I loved it:)
Due to rainy weather a lot of animals weren't out. But there was lots to see.
You can feel the warm, beauty and freedom from nature
Very cool.. I wish they hadn't removed the butterflies. We're loved that last time we went.
It was pretty cool we went through different exhibits and seen really cool animals this place was awesome but its a little pricey its still cool i recommend going if you can afford it.
We love this place... Little expensive but worth it!
I loved this experience! I enjoyed the open enclosure and how close you could get to the animals. I love how both the aquarium and rainforest pyramids make it a point to hire special needs workers. Everyone was very helpful and kind.
Was fun small place but fun
I love it here... it's like u in the forest
Beautiful plants from all over the world
Nice place.my grandchildren enjoy
Always a fun place to go. We had a bunch of school groups today and my daughter (who works here and I use to work for the hotel) helped one of the groups, telling them some things about the fish.
The architecture here is pretty impressive and the Rainforest exhibit is nice but I was really expecting a lot more for the money! I could see $10-12 for entry to walk through the exhibit for an hour...but $26 was ridiculous! Not worth it!
Great place to visit, especially with kids!
Love seeing the animals out and about in the rainforest pyramid.
Awesome place. We arrived as they were feeding the birds and animals - a great time to visit.
You get to experience a lot of different animals and learn about how they are fed and their environments. Great place to walk and see nature indoors.
Good representation of a true rain forest... Humid and hot!
This place was so much fun. My family and I enjoyed walking through and seeing all the various species if birds and animals. It was interesting to walk trough the different forests from each continent. I was expecting the place to feel more warm and humid, but it was a comfortable temperature. We hope to visit Galveston again and explore the other two pyramids.
Really nice. Great for a short trip. But hot and humid.
Such an amazing area to go to the pricing is amazing the scenery is beautiful in the animals are quite likely
There's always something good here
