REVIEWS OF Audubon Zoo IN Louisiana

The zoo is great. It is big so if you want to see it all plan to be there a while. They have a few play areas but the slide in Africa is closed at this point. They also have a cool zoo(water play area) and a train but both cost extra from the tickets to get in.

VictoriaGrace

Great place to bring the kids. It's got a lot to do as well as a lot of animals to see. We went in July and it was very hot and humid but we still had a great time. Online price is a good deal. Family membership is well worth the money.

Christina Necessary

Beautiful exhibits and a lot of areas that keep the kids engaged

Carol Loya

One of the best zoos we have visited, definitely worth the time . We spent a good 4 hrs and never once heard our kids mention being bored . So many beautiful trees and so many animals to see . Able to bring our water , backpack and tennis shoes definitely 8,000 steps .

Virginia Williams

Great time at Boo at the Zoo. A lot of fun for kids - especially children 10 and under. For any special event at the zoo, allow an extra hour to park. Not a lot of organization for parking and it took us 45 minutes. If you are going during regular zoo hours, don't miss the elephants. And be sure to take a stroll through the reptile house! Great place to cool off during hot summer days.

Tammi Renee

I know they say that some other zoos are bigger and better but I have to say this zoo is beautiful it's set up so nice the exhibits are wonderful there is so much to see and do it was hard for us to get everything in in one day I've been to other zoos and have watched through them in less than a half a day.

Barry Luis

really cool zoo went here for vacation and it was fun especially the Louisiana section

Jessica McMillian

A lot of fun. Make sure you put aside 2-3 hours aside to see the entire zoo its huge. Staff had impromptu shows that were fun. I just wish all the exhibits were running since there were a few being worked on.

Frank Hollibaugh

This is a wonderful zoo. Very easy to get around and see all of the animals.

Robin

My family loves this zoo! It's a must when visiting New Orleans!

Johnny Herring

always have tons of fun we have season passes witch i would recommend getting only a little bit more money and you can go whenever

Leslie M

Though this place is amazingly beautiful, I am disgusted by the horrendously small cages for these animals. Humans have 90% of the space while these poor animals get 10% of the space. I have never seen these animals in such small cages in my life. I'm surprised this place has not been shut down. It's sad and disgusting what they are doing to the animals here.

FirstNatives TooThisLand

Thank NOLA SCHOOLS AND AUDUBON PARK FOR TODAY! OUR CHILD PERFORMED FOR THE #Back2SchoolConcert we had a blast

Mike Honeycutt

There were 6 of us there, ages 12-60 we got the cool zoo tickets. After a great time at the zoo ( everyone has a great time at the zoo) the lazy river was a perfect way to cool down and relax after walking for 3 hours at midday.

Heather Perry

Great place! Lots of animals to see! This visit didn't dissapoint! Lots to see and do here!

Amanda Guimbellot

Jerry Sells

Having a great time walking around the zoo and seeing the animals.

Furious George

Great zoo. We came in the summer and a lot of the animals didn't really move around too much. A few were hiding or camped out under shelter the first time we walked around so you should do a second pass to see everything. We spent about 4 - 5 hours here. There is a good selection of animals to see. Get the pass that does the aquarium and insectarium too.

Viola Johnson

I love this place. Still waiting for Arnold (the male lion) to show. Guess it's too hot in NOLA.

Jayde Clement

I go to this zoo every 3yrs! It gets better every time! Good for all ages, all type of wheels can glide through the zoo. Just bring your own drinks

AL N

We visited during spring break in March and it was a great destination! There are so many amazing animals to see and it wasn't packed so we could really enjoy the experience. It's really pretty property and just nice to walk around. If you are in New Orleans, you should check it out.

Ben Kolt

A very nice zoo with great things for kids and adults to do. The animals appear to be will cared for and to be treated with respect. The grounds are spacious. The layout was bit confusing, and since we bought the butterfly garden/insectarioum, aquarium, zoo pass we didn't get a map when we entered. We saw everything, but may have walked more than if we had a map in hand.

Samuel Hebert

All in all, it was a very fulfilling experience. There is hours of exhibits and activities to do. The animals looked to be in good health and weren't afraid of humans. The property was well kept up and clean. The children were thoroughly pleased as well as the adults. It was hot to say the least. The food prices inside are a little on the high side.

Holly Smith

So pretty and peaceful. The new lion exibit was really cool. They have changed a lot since the last time I was there. It looks beautiful!!

Eleni O'Neill

Lovely zoo. Nice to be able to get a shuttle from the streetcar line so as not to have to walk quite so far just to get to the gate. I really liked how each area of the zoo was decorated and landscaped to reflect that area of the world. Don't miss the baby alligators inside the swamp gift store.

VictoriaGrace

Jeffrey Mitchell

Exceptional zoo! The habitats are so intricately themed.

Felix D. Katz

one of the finest zoo's in the nation And do check thier special events Boo@the Zoo. Zoo lights and mother's day concert.

Cindy Hyndman

Always enjoy trips here. Gor summer it would be nice to see mist stations in various areas to cool off at.

Danielle Britton

Beautiful zoo grounds, gorgeous exhibits, extremely friendly staff and volunteers. One of the best zoos I've been to.

Owen Gates

Staff are great and the facilities are constantly improving.

Lucien Mcbride

Visited whilst in New Orlean, had a great day. We got a pass that included the aquarium and a visit to watch a film. We enjoyed the whole day. Zoo very clean, shuttle bus up to main road for tram or a short walk through the park. Wide variety of animals to see and all looked well taken care of. Map of zoo easy to read and easy access to restrooms and places to eat. Zoo wasn't too busy the day we went, we had a ride on the train around the zoo and the carousel (never too old or young!) .Bought photo's at the end, just very funny. There is an area for children to play with water, looks fun.

Frank Saraya

Very nice zoo! However, did have a few attractions that were closed for repair or upgrades.

Brian Meyers

One thing's for sure you can't beat the weather in New Orleans!!!! And some other zoos that I've been to besides St Louis have been a lot smaller than I thought New Orleans however was not. The playground that they have for kids was way better than anything I've seen anybody else have and the South American area where the Jaguar was was really feeling well and that was the first time I've ever seen a bobcat at the zoo. We enjoyed it. It's really hard to compare other zoos to what we're used to being from St Louis having the top zoo in the country for free but I'm glad we saw it that's for sure

Tiona Milton

I hadn't visited Audubon Zoo in seventeen years. I loved it. The staff was friendly and helpful. The overall experience was a delight.

Andrea Turner

Loved the exhibits and the conservation efforts...however not really sure why there is a Gadsden Flag hanging in the reptile exhibit (besides the snake comparison)...seems a little too political for some place like this.

Chelsie Mills

Great for kids, go in small groups or you will lose some. Haha!

Wyatt Bradley

Very nice and well kept Zoo. You can save money if you get the yearly membership, you will be able to go as many times in a year that you can and also get a 10% discount on more items. Are you also can go to their other attractions for free as many time as you want and also get a 10% discount and go to special events that they have I've been to several they special events in the kids and I had a very good time, you get to go behind the scenes and watch some feed the animals

Al Jones

Terrible experience, because it was closed. Why close on Monday, such is typically known as "fun-day", everywhere but NOLA?

Rachel n Daddy R

A wonderful Zoo laid out very well the staff is very knowledgeable and can tell you more than what you ever wanted to know about the animals. The zoo is very clean it has a lot of shade which is important during the warm months the enclosures were very akin to the animals environment a great place to take the family.

Bridget Mitchell

This is a must see for all. Adults and children will love it.

Gerry Pendry

I've been spoiled having spent most of my life visiting the National Zoo in DC for free. This place has nicer habitats for some of the animals, but the price is steep. Look into the family pass.

Presi Plain Jane

My kids loved the hill you can roll down and the water stream area.

Marc Thibodeaux

Come on down to the Audobon Zoo, the all asked for you. It's a really neat experience. I personally haven't been here since I was a kid, and I am having more fun now than ever. Everything seems to have changed for the better, and all of the exhibits are great! I would definitely recommend to make it a day.

Kyle Lowman

Been to better zoosk this one had several exhibits with nothing them like any bears or gorillas etc. The habitats seemed somewhat poorly maintained and the cost for your "VERY" short time is pathetic. Just several hours.... Our day on Sunday which normally closes at 5 was cut short at 3pm for I guess holiday events as it was close to Halloween but still charged normal prices... Also the park ending announcement broadcast played like 30 times and was obnoxious to make people leave at 3pm... The exhibits that were open were cool and maybe would be better if they had normal operating hours that were listed on their park maps or times on their site... We got to got to pet the goats which seemed insanely boney and underfed also? Overall theres way better zoo's to go too for way cheaper. Not sure what they are doing here as far as animal health or happiness but some enclosures were definitely too small and animals were not taken care of properly compared to other zoo's I've visited. The hours are terrible to say the least compared to the prices.... The aviary exhibit was the best, maybe alone with the gator area that you could order food next to the It habitat and see them. Overall it was expensive with some saddening enclosures for the animals and as always expensive Everything.... Including a terrible hamburger and fried that gave me some angry tummy problems.... for like 11$ Also they dont serve lids or straws ' because if the animal's' as I was told.. doesnt stop the bugs or any accidental spills from your drink as you walk around around though.. Spent like 100$ for 2 people with simply zoo passes and food and no souvenirs... was hoping for a panda or any bears but there wasn't any... Oh and everything costs extra... so be ready for that...

Daryl Moore Jr.

What a park. Keep your kids close. There's a lot of woods/out door jungle type walking next to the swamps. Should be safe but you never know what's under the water. The jaguar escaped a week before we got there and had eaten 9 other animals.

Kia Janine

You can spend the whole day here! There's so much to do and see. The Cool Zoo will entertain the kids. It is a water park located inside the zoo. There are an abundance of wildlife to see and other activities along the zoo trail for kids. The restaurant serves good food as well.

Harvey Franklin

Had a great time there. It's been over 20 years since I came to this zoo and I love the updates and new exhibits. Even during a hot and muggy weather, there was plenty of shade and misty coolers to keep us going.

Ngenarr-Yassin Jeng

Family friendly place with lots of animals to see. The area is beautifully set to reflect the jungle and the enclosures are large enough for the animals. Staff were also very nice.

Chevis Harrison

Wonderful experience seeing all the animals and learning about the animals we seen

pamela elliot

We had our son's first birthday party there and the staff was amazing. The kids really loved the carousel.

Keren Rovelo

So much fun, alot of exhibits and the zoo was clean and easy to navigate. Prices were more than I expected, for two children and three adults we paid $109

Audrey Heyward

Great zoo!! We did both the zoo and the aquarium while in NOLA. Aside from the weather being terribly hot, the zoo was a great experience. Easy to get to via public transport. Animals were very interesting and the layout is easy to follow. Fun fact: the zoo & aquarium offer a combo ticket. Very affordable and it gets you admission into both venues!

Kelly T.

Haven't been in several years. Had expanded quite a bit since my last visit. Brought my sister and nephew here for their very first trip. Saw all kinds of zoo animals, ate at one of the cafes, and also bought a couple souvenirs. Had a great time! Plan to wear your good walking shoes, sun screen, and bring a little extra for treats along the way.

Jared Benson

I loved the look and layout of the whole zoo honestly. The lion encounter is actually set up really nicely in my opinion and there are so many kid friendly things to do that your family could spend the entire day here. The little bayou cafe is situated in the Louisiana Swamp part of the zoo and its a charming little spot with rocking chairs outside and a gift shop right after it. Its super cool to see the alligators swimming through the algae.

Jjarnd Msdiun

I absolutely love the Audubon Zoo. I always enjoyed visiting it seems to have gotten better and better each time I visited. I like the more relaxed atmosphere and the animals seem to be quite happy. I'm glad that I was able to see each animal that I wanted to quite easily. I was extremely thrilled with the lion cage and then when all the lionesses actually walked up from the back and came directly up to the glass wall enclosure and then proceeded to go ahead and sit down in front of it. That was quite awesome and I did not expect that. Also really enjoyed my meal at the Cypress knee Cafe. I spend more time at the swamp area than anything enjoying basically my normal surroundings. If I happen to live in the immediate area I would get the season passes and just go there every Saturday afternoon and drink on the deck overlooking the alligators.

Jessica Bailey

Fantastic exhibits and decent food. Would love to come back on my next vacation!

Ronnie C

Super hot! Overall, great place to roam and stroll. The animals were all out but in the shade of course. Was a fun experience.

Jeffery Thedy

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Audubon Zoo last Sunday. It is a great trip to bring family and friends on. I personally think it is better for young children 12 and under, yet it is still very enjoyable to go if you are a teen or adult of any age. I personally think that the prices to enter are great but the food and beverages could be better, but it is worth it because the food is great. It is very safe at the zoo and I think it is impossible to get hurt because of the animals if you follow all rules and regulations. Another great part of the zoo is the location. Where it is located is great because if you did not eat in the zoo, there are still plentiful restaurants around it. Also if you don't enjoy the heat there are many indoor places like food and beverage areas and the reptilian section.

Adrian Hackney

I love the zoo but boo at the zoo wasn't worth the 40 I spent. We had Sunday tickets for the first time normally we go on Saturday but the weather was a mess. Never again first group of the scary train ride no one was dressed in costumes or ready to perform. They didn't know we where coming. We couldn't go again and forced off the train that a go cart pulled and not by the actual train they have and was told it's nothing they can do about it. The trick a treat lane only gave lollipops this year like they ran out of chips and other things. Myself and several others got our money back from this one funnel cake booth because the girl didn't want to make the funnel cakes and was burning them and they had to constantly restart the grease for whatever reason. So we where offered our money back for the food we purchased and funnel cakes. A much better setup this year for the games and haunted house. Not worth the price 20 for kids and 20 adults to much. Boo at the Zoo needs to do better next year for 2020.

Courtney Dabon

Loved the lions! So happy to have them back!

Summer Greene

Why isn't there opossums in the Louisiana display portion of the zoo?! Other than that it's great.

Jared Ware

This is a fantastic zoo. Lots of animals. It's not a large zoo. But it still will take you several hours to go through. Stop and get some Roman candy and a frozen lemonade while you're there. And see if you can find the peacocks that roam freely through the property.

Chad Hensley

Most fun I've had in awhile..

Spencia Boudreaux

It is a great place to spend time with family & friends, and nature.

K Kidder

We went to a ball at the Audubon Tea Room. Amazing facility!

Caitlin Tschanz

This was our first visit to the Audubon Zoo! It was the best laid out zoo we have ever been to. We loved it!

Mia Alexander

Nice to walk through and take the train ride.

Nola Queen

FUN BUT DON'T GO WHEN IT'S TOO HOT! THEY DO HAVE A LITTLE SPLASH PARK WITH SPRINKLERS AND OTHER THINGS. DO BRING OUR BUY PLENTY OF WATER. THERE IS A PARK THERE WHERE KIDS CAN SLIDE AND SWING ON MONKEY BARS WITH TREES FOR SHADE.

Amber Turrentine

The zoo is small. Half of the time is spent walking to another exhibit. They don't have many misting fans which is needed in the summer. There is a water "park" with a lazy river to make up for that but you have to pay for it separately. Food prices are decent but you will spend time waiting for the food to be cooked. Pro: feeding the giraffes is free

Leon Cunningham

Great experience. I don't have kids but they have play areas for children. That was way cool. The restaurant food wasn't bad either. The animals were quite entertaining!

MrsJones2u4lyfe Jones

Attended the Boo at the Zoo with my family. We had so much fun.

M Shivers

Such a beautiful and well kept zoo. The animals and atmosphere is quite wonderful. The whole family had a fantastic time. Glad to live just a short drive to enjoy a great day at this zoo!

Christal Joyner

My grandson's third grade class went to the zoo on a field trip today. They had a blast. The grounds are nice and animal enclosures are well done. Some of the attractions we're closed for renovations. We didn't think it was allowed to take in food and drinks, but saw people with them. Might be a good idea to check the website. Overall a good outing.

Natasha Leoni

I have been to many zoos all over the U.S. and the Audobon is one of the best. It's a very large space with so many animals yet it doesnt feel overcrowded. There are so many restaurants and fun activities besides animal watching. The cool zoo was absolutely amazing and everyone had a great time in the lazy river. Their collection of animals are wide ranging and spaced out by continent and types. The animals look healthy and the exhibits are kept as clean as possible. Overall a great experience.

Ben Evans

It's a nice and small zoo. Awsome for a day trip

POOKIE fuka

This is my favorite. People are wonderful. Just an all around great place to be

Ben Tschanz

This is one of the best zoos I have been to. The scenery is beautiful and very well themed. The staff is very knowledgeable and all of the animals are well cared for.

Jenn Bentley

Great zoo! Pleanty of exotic animals plus a Louisiana cypress swamp. Lots of places to stop and sit, lots of playgrounds and climbing activities. This is a sensory-friendly zoo with sensorimotor, quiet, and headphone indicators for the neurodivergent.

Ginger Huge

What a fun and beautiful zoo. The exhibits are so nice. We had a great time!

Ebony L. W. Hayes

Great Fam Fun! Awesome People. Very Hot but Very Accommodating!! We had a Very Good Time. Looking to become Members!!

Tommy Winkle

Love the animals. Went during summer so was hot. Trash left in a lot of places. A lot of animals were not out

Luis Alberto Velazquez Borjas

I would recommend going in the morning, when it's not too hot and the animals are out and about. The elephant section is new and other spots are being renovated. Weekends are especially busy since they also have shows with the animals. Kids will have a fun time at the cool zoo part where they can bathe and have fun in the water.

angie watson

Absolutely beautiful! I really really don't like zoo's, the whole concept of animals in enclosures alot of the time alone disgusts me, but my 2year old loves animals and wanted to go. The zoo itself is very well kept and clean. Lots of places to stop and get out of the heat. The cafe near the alligator exhibit was really good (get the Crawfish pie). Gift shop was pretty reasonably priced. The park area inside the zoo is GORGEOUS. I felt like I was in an old new orleans colonial park. Trees are huge with the hanging moss. Mesmerizing.

Melanie Spence

Best zoo I've seen so far

Trevor Thompson

Such a great experience and environment. The only thing I would change is more misters. It's hot most of the year and I only saw two areas for people to sit and cool off. Most of the seating was taken.

Angela Anderson

Very clean, overly nice staff, big shout out to Madison K., lots of fun, entertaining things to do and see. Cool Zoo is the bomb on a hot, humid summer day! ❤

Tracmae Treasure Chest

I have had an awesome experience here for the 2nd time! It is clean, orderly, and has pleasant staff. My school enjoys and doesn't mind driving 2 1/2 hours to visit this zoo!

S G

We had so much fun I loved it. Only thing I didn't really like is how they where a lid and straw free zoo at the gates and wanted to take my straw and lid away from my cup but it's understandable

Andrew

Absolutely amazing zoo. They seem to take great care of the animals. The animals look happy and were out and about. Would defenietely recommend this place to anyone

Victoria Archer

First time visit for my family and I and we enjoyed it so much!!

Red G.

I love to come here, it's a relaxing visit, as long as it isn't too crowded.

Amanda Moore

Nice zoo, well maintained. Kind and knowledgeable staff. If you go more than once, it's worth buying an annual membership. You also get 10% off food and things at the gift shop. The lion exhibit is now open. The male lion was quite active today. (June 15th, 2019)

Willie Iruegas

The zoo is wonderful! First class all the way!

Amy Clark

After a long hot walk went into the swamp cafe hoping for a nice ice cold drink. Instead my child found a baby cockroach swimming in her fountain drink. Terez's apology leads me to believe this is not the first time! The high chairs were even gross! Worse experience on top of evacuating from Dorian!

Josephine Fleming

Our family stayed in the French Quarter and it was really easy to catch the street car and then shuttle to the Zoo. Though the weather was pretty hot and humid, the zoo had plenty of shade and misting stations. There’s so much to see and do that you could definitely make it a whole day affair, but we walked pretty quick and skipped the water park so we were only there about 4 hours. My son was so excited the entire time and we were very impressed with the cleanliness and numerous exhibits. For I believe only $15 more you have access to the Cool Zoo and lazy river, had we had more time it would have 100% worth it.

Alex

Amazing!! Reptile house, sea otters, african painted dogs, lions, gorillas, bears, giraffes, elephants, zebras, and so much more! There's lots of things to see, lots of animals to awe at. Plenty of seating and refreshments throughout the park. There's even a train. Everything was tidy clean and staff were very kind. Would visit again!

Patrick Lofton

I love Audubon Zoo A1 best time to get there as early in the morning and call first to see if all the animals are out

Tammy Simon

Awesome. Lovely surroundings. Lots of shades. Yes, some areas of lots sun , especially the swamp exhibit. Enjoyed the tiger swimming in water. Most of the animals were lying in shady areas, just chilling. Best time to visit is morning. Not too crowded. Bought 2- 20 ounces bottled tea and 1 kid's juice and spent $9.00, including zoo membership discount. Lots of walking. Thought, the sea lions feeding show were very well done. My 1 year old grandson was very entertained. It was educational as well as funny. I think you can give in an ice chest? But please check before carrying it with you. Yes there's stroller rental. Or you can bring your own.

Joseph Sclafani

I went with my 2 grandsons & we had a great time . We went to the Reptile area then explored the Louisiana Swamp . The weather was overcast so the animals were out and moving a round . When visiting NOLA do not skip a visit to the zoo !

Kayla Reeder

A bunch of family fun. We had a blast and cant wait to go back. Great services. Friendly employees. Beautiful animals

Jared Benson

Nice zoo. Many if the attraction were closed.

rich & tamara king

Me man my wife are out of town an want to have a lovely evening at a zoo but we are looking for a petting zoo can any one help us today

Joseph Behrens

Our first time visiting in 18 years, we have not been due to the last time we seen no animals, and the crowdedness. This time we were very pleased, seen every animal, the animals were active, the renovations made more room for visitors, the prices were still up there. Monkey Hill is now covered in fake grass though :/.

Aleya Perreira

Zoo was well maintained. Staff were kind. Animals looked very healthy.

Seshia Murray

The zoo itself was wonderful, huge array of animals that look happy and healthy with lots of space. Very friendly and knowledgeable zoo staff, who love answering questions. Clean bathrooms, and plenty of benches located throughout the park to stop and rest. Only negative was that concessions were severely understaffed. All of the smaller food places scattered throughout the park were closed, and the bigger areas that were open had limited staff. Great food, though.

Brandi Taylor

It was absolutely breathtaking. We had an amazing day!

saintsfan42

Love the zoo. One of the best zoos around. Its well kept. And they have a water area for the kids as well.

Rob Prescott

Great flow to the zoo, easy to pick any direction and still see everything. Animal exhibits were well sized and put together

Corey Moore

Great place. If your going more than twice buy the family year pass, it's cheaper. Really enjoy the swamp area, good food and awesome atmosphere. The new lion exhibit is very well done as well. Great place to take a young families.

Lotta R Cleary

It was nice to see the exhibits that were available. I just couldn't enjoy like I wanted. I will be back.

Stacey Steiner

I met my nephew, his wife 7 year old (yesterday) daughter and 3 year old son there. That is what birthday girl wanted to do for her birthday. It was raining when I met them there. They live in Brandon, MS & I live in Mobile, AL. Birthday girl and I headed in first. I had a great time telling her about taking her dad and her aunt to the very same zoo. I wish we had taken more pictures but we all had a great time. Only down side was rain and we left umbrella. When we got back, when it wasn't raining, umbrella was gone. We left it. Wasn't zoo's fault. Parents took turns carrying children when they needed. All 3 adults took turns carrying umbrella. We ate at the swamp area. All 3 adults were happy with the food. Only complaint was not working water fountains.

mahtab shalbafian

Amazing zoo very detailed, love how they set up the exhibit it makes you feel like you are close enough to the animals. Very relaxing and peaceful. The animals seemed happy in their habitat. There is a water park, Cafe, cute gift shops and photo station. The employees were very kind and helpful. The zoo was kept well maintenance, it was clean as well as the bathrooms. Overall an amazing experience. Highly recommend going here especially if you're a tourist. Loved it.

Annie B

We love Audubon! We are members and we visit often. Was great to see the lions finally on display. We have been waiting for them for about a year. So beautiful and the habitat and exhibit was done BEAUTIFULLY

The zoo the zoo has come a long way I'm 59 years old my husband work they're my children will raise practically at the zoo and the aquarium and now my grandchildren are being raised there I love what they've done to it I just hope that they keep building on what's already done and make it even better for the next generation

Yessica Estrada-Hernandez

Very fun for all ages. They even have a water park. The train tour was the best!

Emerson-Jane Jones

Best zoo I've ever been to. Love the gators.

tammy simms

Audubon Zoo is just beautiful! you can't see it all in one day it's a place for the whole family to visit gotta love it

Slurmmp

We had a great time despite the fact that it rained our whole visit but we bought umbrellas from the gift shop and proceeded. It was a nice little walk but our children enjoyed it. I would come again definitely.

Fun for families, lots to do and not overly expensive. It's a full day to see it all, and I havent made it yet lol. But you can get in and go left or right, just switch direction on your 2nd visit and see what you missed the first time. Giraffe are beautiful and soooo tall, they are our favorite. There is a play ground and a cool water park (additional cost) which looks pretty nice.mwe took the train around the zoo last time, it's pretty fast so you can't really get pics, but there are 3nstops u can hop off and walk around. Buy a family membership if you plan on going at least 2x in a year, it pays for itself after visit 1.

Amanda Messer

Amazing place and beautiful grounds. The enclosures are superb!!!

Sade Wilmore

Glad to see its improving but it always seems like it's never complete. Overall great place to take the kids. I love that's it free on the 3rd Wed of the month for Orleans parish residents!

Rebekah D

Awesome zoo! Took our 2yo while we vacationed here and he loved it. Only downside was a lot of the animals were sleeping or hiding inside due to the heat. Gorgeous grounds, big variety of animals, and even a playground. Several A/C spots marked on the map which was great. Would definitely go again. Accessible by bus from our hotel which was a huge help.

rebecca

I think if they had workers that actuay cared about the animals and tried to treat them better the overall zoo experience would be much better! The zoo could be so.much more enjoyable with the animals happier instead of them just hiding and half of them looked like they were dyin and 2 i had to.actually sit there and double check on the animal to.make sure they werent dead! We went to.pet the sheep.and goats and the sheep looked so skinny you could sew their bones stickong out everywhere. It was kinda sad to think about how they must feel! There was a bird that had a tv dinner just thrown in his cage and it had been there a while! Idk if someone possibly did that when they visited there but who carries a tc dinner around with them to a school anyway

Andres Barcelo

Very family friendly zoo with elephants, lions coming, big animals and it takes some time to go through. Impressive for the size of the cory it's in.

Bee C

Fun place for the kids. Love that they have places for kids to play.

Mike Henderson

Very beautiful day and zoo was very good.

Logan Myer

One of the best zoos in the world. Beautiful grounds.

Robert Allen

Pretty cool place to take your kids. Just don't go on a really hot day. Most of the animals where in the shade cooling off.

tawana stanley

Awesome so many animals and place to eat. The train rides ate nice and you can see 80% of the that way. Buy train tickets gives you a discount at the food places. You can ride the train as much as you want.

Emily Clarrey

Wonderful Zoo! You could really spend the whole day here!

David Fore

Beautiful enclosures for the animals, and the landscaping is amazing! Very friendly staff!

Tara McNamara

Very friendly to young children! Our 18-month old toddler loved it.

Keva Robertson

The staff was friendly and the zoo is amazing. They also have a little water park as well. Great place to take the kids!

Melody East

Beautiful and historic zoo. Clean and large. My only complaint was the kids yelling at the animals. Most of the animals were very close so you can see them better. It was crowded and there were a ton of school kids who could not stop yelling at the animals. If you can go there when it’s quiet it would be a paradise.

Alysia Roane

I've grew up in new Orleans I love there zoo and the aquarium I love the farie that takes you to both if you like

i like memes

We absolutely loved it! Especially the new Lion Exhibit!! Just wished the Cool Pad Park was open with this hot weather.

Terrie Terrell

Very nice zoo. Great habitats for the animals in their care. Friendly staff and volunteers.

Megan Richard

Me, my mom, and my kids loved it!!! Definitely want to start going once a year!!! It's huge and you definitely need a few hours to walk the whole thing but it's so worth it!!!

Chris Victoriano

Had a company annual family day there. Awesome day with open access and a buffet, and a big screen TV for the game.

Jeana Gallet

Things are changing up. Animals getting new locations. Looking good. We have a blast every time we go.

Victoria Martinez

Spent the entire day there celebrating my daughters birthday. We had so much fun, took the little train a few times and did the tour and ate at the main cafe across from haagen daas. Sad we didn't get to see the orangutans since Feliz had her baby but enjoyed seeing everything else the zoo had to offer.

Heather Glomb

Lots of great exhibits and the train tour was a fun ride for the kids!

Irene Feeley

Would be a great place for young children. Everytime we turned the corner there was a play area.

LaQueena Compere

Beautiful Zoo!!! Super Hot so dress cool and bring an umbrella for shade. They also have playgrounds around the zoo for kids.

Audrey Warren

The Audubon Zoo is a great place e to visit either early morning or later in the day. The animal exhibits are designed to imitate nature, and the animals look healthy. Informative placards are placed in front of every exhibit to educate the viewer. The growth of more trees is helpful with NOLA's unwavering heat, but be sure to have water to stay hydrated. The place is very educational and interesting as well as quite picturesque. Bring your camera. The photogenic scenes are all that and more. Your kids will love it. By all means, don't skip Monkey Hill!

Alexis Price

Beautiful zoo. They had a lot of exhibits closed for renovation while I was there and there were no shows happening. They did have the train up and running and some youth staff stationed in various place to talk to the kids about skulls and snakes, etc. I think they could use more animals given the large size of the zoo but my family still enjoyed it a great deal. The salt water taffy guy wasn't there, which really disappointed the kids. That's a must when you go here.

Destiny Benedict

One of my most favorite experiences! Tons of different animals, the exibits and trails were very decorative. The zoo was very well taken care of! If I lived closer, I would go at least once per month.

Jessica Jordan

Animals definitely need some stimulation. They were hot and lethargic at 10 am in the morning. Where are the ice treats to help keep them cool? Poor little warthog just walked in tight circles ... very disappointed.

Rachel Souvinette

I have been to many zoos, and this is an exceptional zoo. Very nice, with wonderful, knowledgeable employees. Chris is awesome!

Yvonne Nadler

Beautiful park like setting, animals well cared for.

Antoinette Breckenridge

I've gone to the Audubon Zoo since I was a kid. And now being able to bring my kids too was an amazing experience. They've changed so much. It's still the best place to take a family vacation and see all the animals, feeding the animals, the activities. It's the best place to take the kids.

J Hechinger

Can't help but think this place wasn't designed with the summer in mind. They do have the Cool Zoo, a water park, but you'll pay extra for this. Otherwise there's not much to cool you off besides $8 lemonades. About 1/3 of the animals were off exhibit, probably due to the heat. I totally understand this is for the animals' welfare, but be warned if you're visiting on a 100 degree day, there will not be as many animals out and about. The food was over priced, over fried and the staff at the swamp eatery were rude. We only tried the one eatery, so maybe the menu is better elsewhere. Might be worth a future visit, but not in the summer and pack your own lunch.

Sarah Khalil

I really love this zoo. The animals always look very well taken care of and the grounds are kept up nicely. I haven't been to the splash park but it looks fun. I know there's a lazy river also. The train ride is good and stops and picks up every 30 minutes. There's also food on site like hamburgers. Ice cream and other foods. They do not allow plastic straws or tops on fountain drinks for the safety of the animals so either bring your own tumbler or buy a souvenir cup. Also, keep your receipt and u get a free refill. Enjoy!

Ellen Burford

Wonderful zoo. Lots of shaded walkways. The new lion exhibit is definitely worth seeing!

Neeto M

It was really nice. It wasn't crowded, people were respectful of the animals, and there was a lot to see. Must visit while in NOLA.

Alicia Martenia

Zoo that actually feels like a zoo. The animals were natural and beautiful. Saw plenty of birds walk around the ground all willy nilly. Some of the primates and other animals were featured with their families. It is a great destination for all.

beidler Wynn

Awesome, top notch. Must visit while in NOLA. Don't forget to stop by the gift shop in front. Cool stuff...

John Deroche

Great place to bring the family during fall and spring.

Brandon Z James

Great zoo, it was clean and the habitats were well maintained. The orangutan recently had a baby and it was quite cute to see the little family. The father was very interactive with our daughter; gave high fives, played dead, and smiled the entire time.

Ayeshah saleem

This zoo is clean and very good place to take the family. The animals are amazing. This zoo has soo much to look at and do. Also, great picture place. Kids loved it.

Jessica Mitchell

Amazing zoo. Animals looked very well taken care of

Nathaniel Peacock

Great Zoo! Not terribly crowded and wonderful habitats!

Jazzie Holt

I love the zoo and the work that they do towards conservation and repopulating the animals that we love so much. I'm just going to let my photos speak for themselves. Even in the rain, we had a great time!

Courtney Clark

The zoo upgrades are nice, the people are friendly. The tea room is a great placw for events.

Christopher Stewart

Awesome Zoo! Everything was clean and the animals seemed well taken care of. The staff did not mind us asking questions about the animals behavior and seemed excited to answer.

S J

great zoo. loved the train, waterfall perfect for toddlers, and the cool zoo is great for ages 5 and up

Janelle Middleton

Most amazing zoo I've ever been to! I grew up going to Audubon & no other zoo I've been to since has ever measured up. This is the best there is!

Jamarcus Carroll

I must say all the upgrades I saw were great look like the animals are pretty health as well

Rocci K. O.

A beautiful atmosphere. The walk was long and exciting.

Alexandria Vitito

Beautiful zoo with lots of awesome guest interactions. You can truly spend an entire day there. We got there right at open and didn’t leave until almost 4pm. If we had a kid, it would have definitely been a full day. One of my favorite zoos, probably only second to Jacksonville, FL.

Shelley Provost

Large zoo with plenty of family friendly areas. Easy layout and engaging exhibits.

Loura Canisara

I interned here and had a wonderful time! Everyone was very welcoming and kind, and the animals were excellent as well.

Towonda Towonda

Awesome! My family and I had a great time at the the cool zoo!

honey Rayford

Omg everything was so nice for boo at the zoo for the kids definitely will be back next year

Amar Dave

Awesome place for family trip. One of the top 10 family attractions in NOLA.

Jeff Hensley

It would be nice to see actual shows at the zoo. I know that this is a zoo that the main focus is education, but there is more entertainment education at the Ren faire. This is a very nice zoo that looks beautiful, but it is pretty boring. Worth only visiting once every 4-5 years.

Betty Jo

This zoo is in a terrible shape. It was nothing like it was many years ago when we visited. At that time the animals looked so happy in their environments. This time the ones we could find all looked so very sad It made me want to cry. The zoo was so disorganized that we never located the elephants, zebras, lions, tigers or any other large animals. We did have the best lemonade that neither of us had ever tasted.

Vira Cellee

We made the poor choice of going on a very hot day so we did not walk the whole zoo. We did see the primates and reptiles to name a few. The reptile house was very clean and pleasant to walk through. The Zoofari cafe was expensive but, the food was decent. The only complaint is we asked for a food item that there was only one of and the woman we asked stared at me for a second, sighed, then walked to another girl who was sitting on her phone. The girl got up, still typing on her phone and then we were told 3 minutes. After 5 minutes and seeing the staff just staring off, my family gave up and just took something else. As we were eating in the dining room, we could see the girl hiding in a corner still on her phone. Not great service in the Zoofari Cafe. The train ride was another story! We loved Gus! He was fun and interactive and made the train ride enjoyable. He showed us various animals, where they grow the plants for the exhibits and the fruit trees. Since we decided it was too hot to walk the whole zoo, the train ride was a great alternative. Other than the 2 women at the cafe, we found everyone else to be friendly and helpful. If you get the bundle ticket, you won't be disappointed. A hint that we didn't know, when you get off the streetcar, find the shuttle stop for the zoo shuttle! If not, you have to walk the 45 minutes through the park to get to the zoo.

Tommy Rebik

While not the largest zoo I've been to the range of exhibiting animals here are very diverse and show the local and exotic animals in very nice , clean, and well maintained exhibits. If you are visiting New Orleans buy the 3 pack and see all three the aquarium , incestarium, and zoo for the best time in New Orleans.

Amanda Nunez

I love this place this takes up the whole day and it is fun they even have a cool zoo for the summer

Jaigh Riley

This place has great potential but serious there should be major discounts for going on Mondays. 40% of exhibits were closed. Severe lack of interaction from staff and overall a very boring visit. Please offer discounts when you know that half the experience isn't available.

Hila Fogel-Yaari

This is a nice zoo. Contrary to local perception, it's not very big. However the exhibits are well done. Make sure to visit the elephants. In the summer, bring bathing suits and pay extra for the Cool Zoo. It's great for all ages.

Jason Davis

Beautiful zoo! The bathrooms need a little updating and cleaning. Other than that awesome!

Sunny Katseanes

Great experience! Wonderful conservation messages.

Margie Russell

The Train Conductor was very informative about the places we visited. The food service at the Zoo was very pleasant. Last but not least the scenario was a joy to see the animals in their habitat

Amanda Musick

We love the zoo it’s a great experience for the whole family

Harold Arnold

Love this place. One of the best zoos that I have ever been to.

Will Dwyer

Big, lots of shade. Food sucks, but it always does at places like this and you can bring your own food in. Expect to pay for the water park, train, pretty anything that isn't an animal.did I mention the huge lawn? Definitely picinic spot.

J. Turner

Six to eight exhibits were temporarily closed. The zoo has a nice park.setting but it is dated. It is definitely time to upgrade the facilities and the exhibits. Some exhibits have tall grass suggesting poor upkeep. Also, there were no educational shows or events of any kind. In addition, the price seems high for the quality of the zoo.

Connor Singletary

Very fun experience! The Zoo was huge and very entertaining with great animals and decorations to go with them. I would highly recommend to everyone and would definitely go back in a heartbeat!

JoAnna Davis

Great zoo, lots of fun for our 2 yo and 8 yo. Only complaint, I wish where they had play places that there were more things suitable for small toddlers. My crawling 1 yo wanted to participate, but was much too little for any play equipment.

Samantha J.

If u have the day to spend there enjoy the zoo/aquarium (at this time of year its really hot so bring water)and then let the family cook off dip off at the new addition Cool Zoo bring your bathing suits and towels and lounge in a cabana or float down the lazy river. There also cafe's gift shops and places where new mothers can nurse there babies. They have thought of everything stop by before school starts and let the kids and the kid at heart enjoy a blissful time at the Audubon!!

Emanuel McDonald

A beautiful place well kept nice staff all around amazing animals coming back soon again

Bo Markovic

Get the membership and enjoy the whole year full of fun at the Audubon Zoo, Aquarium, and Insectarium. My kids love it and never get tired of going.

Cory Antoine

I might saying the same thing as everyone else but this is really big so be prepared to walk and most places in there doesnt talk cards or paying with your phones so bring cash. The cool zone and the zoo are not on the same ticket I went in the beginning of September so it was hot but there are places that spray most on you And I also feel it's better to buy season passes but that's my opinion it's a great place for the family but Be PerPared for being outside because the is only a few places to be indoors my favorite place is the reptile building But I don't know much but I will answer any questions you might have.

Dora Rosales

It was amazing, it's a safe and fun place to take the kids. It's even enjoyable for adults

Liz Baez

The children enjoyed themselves. Th staff was friendly and courteous.

Dana Coburn

Wonderful zoo and a great place to visit. I came here as a kid and have many great memories of this zoo. Highly recommend stopping here if you are in New Orleans!

Trisha Cook

Definitely loved going even though it was rainy. Most of the animals were out

Brandon Z James

Great zoo, it was clean and the habitats were well maintained. The orangutan recently had a baby and it was quite cute to see the little family. The father was very interactive with our daughter; gave high fives, played dead, and smiled the entire time.

Mrs G Warren

I really enjoyed the zoo. Lots of animals to see, as well as lots to do, including the splash area. The workers were friendly and knowledgeable to.

Rockelle Daniels

Love the Zoo and everything about it!!! Good place to spend time with family! Been a favorite in my family for years!! Very spacious, playground for toddlers, carousel, outdoor water park, and outside food and drinks are aloud for families on a budget or those who can’t afford the food at the Cafe. Plus, did I mention 2000 animals?!! ❤️

Jonathan Bleiziffer

Such a beautiful zoo. Relatively cheap too.

George Tassin

Our family loves going to the Audubon Zoo. The weather this weekend was amazing and all the animals was out and about and active. All the staff we interacted with was very knowledgeable and friendly. All the new Animal habitats Added was really nice for my kids to get a closer look at the different animals. Thank you Audubon Zoo for the amazing Education and memories.

Gail Blaine

I've been visiting this zoo since before I could walk, and I still love it. I got the opportunity to share the experience with my own kids this time, and even though it's changed a lot through the years (Monkey Island used to actually have monkeys on it!), we still had a great time.Granted, June in New Orleans is not the best time to visit. It gets hot quick, and a lot of the animals are napping or hiding in the shade, so we didn't get to see everything. The layout of the zoo is nice, but it's big, so expect to spend most of the day here to see all the exhibits.

Trisan Brown

Another reason to question how all these species were able to fit into Noah's Ark, considering there were so many unique animals here. Absolutely loved it.

Kayla Pellerin

Tickets went smoothly. Once we were in we walked around and my husband couldn't wait to get to the candy station which was closed. My son has heart problems and thought we brought stuff he still got over heated and going unresponsive, thankfully there was a hydration station right around the corner we ran to and see helps us and asked to call a medical person, but after paying $4 per popsicle for my 4 kids my son was gaining color in his face and lips again so we kept saying going trying to hurry and finish so we could get to the splash pad. I know it was hot so all the poor animals were hiding but due to the only tree spots were out of out sights we hardly saw any of the animals and what we did see looked so old you could see bones. The poor elephants water hole was so nasty we felt bad for them, the used to have more space and they took away from their in closure for the water pad. Then there's that -_- so after 4 hours of walking the park with many cooling breaks WE FINALLY MAKE the splash pad where we had 1 hour an 30 minuets remaining to play before closing time. We find an empty spot to park our things near the lazy river to jump on in to that first, get out after 2 rounds to head to the splash pad where they shut the water off, AGGRAVATED we go back to the lazy river and keep asking the workers when will it open as time gets shorter. By the time the splash pad opened my kids had 4 YES FOUR minuets left to play. We stayed for 3, dried then headed to the gift shop where the workers were complaining on how no one was leaving. We saved for a long time for my family of 6 to go on this trip on top of hit and miss with my oil field husband who's never home only for that whole trip to be a bust. We were not to happy :( Was hoping for better

Bill Sweeney

Excellent zoo! Habitat for the animals was superior to other zoos that I have visited. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Animals seemed content and they were quite active.

Karha Ringenberg

Wish there were more spots to cool off during the walks. Huge place. Lots of fun animals to look at!

Derrick Bowman

Very, very nice. The grounds was we're very well kept and The animals are look healthy.
