REVIEWS OF Audubon Aquarium of the Americas IN Louisiana

Margaret Carrizales

There's so much to see and do for all ages! The aquariums have diverse populations. Although we didn't do it, you can snorkel in one of them. The aviary was fun where you get close encounters with parakeets. There was an impressive hawk & an owl. The albino alligator is always cool to see. The penguins and otters were delightful. Throughout the aquarium, you learn a lot about ocean life and how humans affect it - positively and negatively. I love how educational it is. We watched two movies. The one in Cuba was beautiful, not more like a tourist pitch (I definite want to visit now!). The other about the Pacific Ocean was amazing and in 3D. Several years ago, we watched the Katrina movie and it was very well done. You should plan a day here when you're in New Orleans, no matter your age.

W

Love this place. Always feel so at peace here. Can get a bit crowded during peak seasons but that is to be expected. Must visit this place if you haven't been.

Jessica McMillian

Feels kind of empty for the price. A lot under work. Not many people there to explain things. But it was fun!

Luis Ortiz

Fun place. Very educational, very kid friendly

Jon Schreck

This is one super aquarium and more. If you are in the area, you should definitely take the time to get here. So many varieties of different species. You can get up close and admire the animals and see the wonderful habitats that they have created for each animal. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely come again. So many helpful and friendly employees that are very knowledgeable. Thanks for a memorable time!!

Inap Gooblaf

The price compared to what you get is kind of disappointing but if you know why it's so little it's a little more acceptable. A great place but the price really doesnt match what they offer.

Angela Munn-Gallagher

Fun but pricey. Not as much to do inside as it appears from the outside. Good place to visit with kids.

Kristy Rynk

Smaller than I expected. Enjoyed what is there. Wish they made it clear that the zoo and the aquarium are like 7 miles apart. We had planned to do both in one day, but the heat got to us. At least the tickets are good for a year. Not sure if we'll make it back or not, but will go to the zoo if we do!

Nicol Flores

This was a great was to spend a couple of hours during a rain storm. I enjoyed the stingray petting area. Very cool. Also there was an aviary where you can feed the birds. Awesome place to visit!

SD WS

super fun. get tickets online much cheaper. they also have an amazing parakeet room where the birds are so sweet. the stingray touch pool was also very fun.

Furious George

Great aquarium. Ticket cost includes a movie showing on an I-max type screen. We watched the one on Katrina and it was very good. The bird area on the roof is a must visit part of the aquarium, be warned though, you will have birds landing on you ad trying to get in your pockets and such. For $2 you can feed the stingrays which I also recommend. For best value get the pass that does the aquarium, zoo and insectarium for one single price. We weren't sure we needed to go to the insectarium but it turned out to be very enjoyable there too.

Mike Beck

Very nice aquarium. Took about 1-1.5 hours to go through it, but we did not see any of the shows. The bird sanctuary is neat for the kids.

YK Mitchell

Lovely collection, by the ocean. The kids were more intrigued than I thought they would be. We made it an hour before closing and it was our last day but it we were able to see everything by the last minute. Once we left the aquarium, we were able to catch one of their movies showing next door (at no extra cost.) I recommend this place for educational family activity.

Jayleen Sanchez

Very cool aquarium clean restrooms & friendly staff! The rooms where they show you documentaries are very spacious and have comfortable seats also they have a concession stands here with small things to snack on for example popcorn and drinks

AL N

We visited during spring break in March and it was a great destination! There are so many amazing animals to see and it wasn't packed so we could really enjoy the experience! The stingrays, sea turtles, and sharks were particularly impressive. If you are in New Orleans, you should check it out.

Rich Durso

Snorkeled in the main reef exhibit. Was a great experience to be in the tank and waving to guests walking by. Get up close with various tangs, rays, grunts and pretty close a massive spiny lobster. Float at the surface and see what comes to you or go deeper to explore. Spent about 45 minutes in the water.

Patricia Doyle

It was a lot of fun. They were under construction in some areas and parking cost almost as much as the tickets to get in but still enjoyed it a lot

Pat D

A very nice aquarium. The Caribbean ecosystem tunnel is quite pleasant.

Samuel Hebert

I love this place. Only issues: 1. Last time I went, there appeared to be a much construction for added exhibits and various existing exhibits were closed as a result. 2. I last went on a Saturday. There were so many people there that it detracted from the experience. I suppose it is a plus that they have recognized this issue; responding to it by expanding.

Michael Sciberus

Reasonably priced. Laid out well and wonderful displays. Friendly staff.

Julie Beavers

Great aquarium, took a little less 2 hours to do including 1 show on a weekday. Food court and gift shops on site, plus additional $1.50 to feed parakeets (you can go in the area for free if you choose to not feed). Bring AAA card, it's $2 off admission.

Rebekah Pease

We thoroughly enjoyed this aquarium! The workers were very friendly and informative. The exhibits were well done and the animals appeared well cared for. I loved the parakeet exhibit and the sea otters.

Amanda Diaz

I would recommend the family 4 pack for a fun day with the kids, we love the aquarium, zoo, and insecterium all the same!! You can spend the whole day at either of these locations or between the 3! Lunch is available at all locations, or you can pack your own, strollers are allowed, and there are a/ced areas at each as well.

Eduardo Ramirez

Cons: Pricey for the number of exhibits. Lots of underutilized spaces. Many exhibitions closed/incomplete. Screens not functioning. Crystals very dirty (visited just minutes after opening). You got a feeling that the aquarium is being neglected. 3-D movie ("hidden pacific") very short and poorly directed, just a pretext to display the wildlife images. Pros: Lovely seahorses and jellyfish exhibitions. So many species you'll only see in an aquarium.

Rebekah Jaramillo

This place was a little small for the price, but overall a very good time. Could probably make it through in 2-3hours, but our admission included a ticket to one of the 3D films showing in the aquriums theater which was about another 25mins long. Good for kids and clean for what it was. There's Papa John's inside and I'd highly recommend feeding the Parakeets near the food court. They're sweet and will fly right up and land on you!

Tyr Battleson

Came here for the sashimi and was not disappointed. They were out of soy sauce but luckily i had some extra packets in the glovebox. The ambiance was amazing and the halls were bustling.

Jennifer Schelly

Great aquarium right in the water front of the Mississippi River. Lots of Stevie's and plenty of interpretive signs and stations. Parrot point is an amazing aviary experience, but does require $1.50 for feed sticks. I'm reasonably sure the birds would land in you anyway, but it's fun to feed them. We were fine with five sticks for two adults and one kid. Parents: Be warned there is a large gift shop near the entrance/exit with tons of stuff for your kids to ask to purchase.

Aaron Connell

Lots of interesting things here! It is located on the Mississippi River near the French quarter. They have part of the aquarium dedicated to the life found in and around the Mississippi River. I would recommend this place we had a great time!

Louis Russo

Very nice acquarium but they close for private parties. Don't rely on their website or Google hours to ensure they are open. You had better call.

Tim Egger

Nice place for families, located in the famed French Quarter. Clean place and super friendly staff. A great place to get out if the sweltering French Quarter heat.

Angel Franks

wished it were bigger with more but it's still a cool experience. you can feed the sting Ray's and pet them. gift shop prices are very reasonable. perfect location as you can take the Algiers ferry and the port drops you right next to the aquarium.

Maris Cockrell

A beautiful and diverse aquarium. The 3D underwater movie is very well done and the exhibits are fascinating. It's a nice air-conditioned break from wandering around the French Quarter.

Robert McLean

Great place for the whole family. I thought they had an electric eel on display, but I did not see. Great theater and eating locations. Staff was very helpful on membership deals. Please ask!

Daniel Lord

Very disappointed with this Aquarium. You could tell where it once held twice as many exhibits. Now, it's seems bare with lots of empty space. I've been to other Aquariums who weren't as expensive and the experience far surpassed the New Orleans location. It's not worth the ticket price and you're not missing anything if you decide to forego the aquarium itself and hit your local PetSmart for free. There are too many other attractions in the area that are worth the money.

jarrod street

This was a good aquarium that seemed to have a knowledgeable staff that gave presentations on a few different species of animals. The reason for the 4 stars is the fact of how much it costs to enter and relatively how little there is to do. We saw the all of the exhibits in the entirety and was out in about an hour. This time includes listening to a few different presentations given by the veterinarians or biologists. This would definitely be 5 stars if price was a little lower

Marti Thornton

First the only reason I gave 2 stars is because out of all of the staff we met 3 were nice. We walked in a little after 12pm and the female checking online stubs was the rudest individual in the entire place. They certainly take their job and position for granted. Be sure you request a map because we had no clue where to go or where anything was due to no map. The aquarium was ok.the stingray petting was our favorite part. I appreciate the nice people such as the young lady offering the picture packages be sure to hold your hand out during pics.:)

Julie MacLeod

Super cool aquarium with a lot to see. Very knowledgeable workers. You can feed parakeets and stingrays. Lots to see. Fish seem to be well treated too

Stefan Born

This is a great place for kids and families. Pretty good aquarium all around. I would've liked a few more exhibits, but what they do have is fantastic. Make sure to check out the otter training sessions and the penguin feedings! Both children and adults will have a great time here.

emeliecheramie

We've been to aquariums all over the United States and New Orleans has the best one by far. Their exhibits are 2nd to none. When you walk in, your kids don't even see the gift shop because of the spectacular rain wall. They have every kind of aquatic animal you can think of and even an aviary with birds that you can feed. You can buy birdseed on a stick so the birds come and perch right on your arm to eat. They have a stingray petting area and a toddler section. There is also a cafe halfway through to get a little snack. Our family loves to visit!!

Donald Thomas

Haven't been there in years but very awesome to see

Charlene Knieper

Could have had more from Louisiana being it's in Louisiana but the kids had a wonderful time!!!

Nichole Girard

Honestly one of our favorite stops of our trip. The rescued raptors hanging out were a great surprise. The otters and penguins are insanely cute. Definitely go watch the sea otter training if you can! I loved the different regions the aquarium is broken up into. Best part? Petting the rays! There were a couple particularly friendly babies who made our day.

Sharon Boyd

One of the best aquariums to check out in the country. So much to see so get in early. Also catch a 3D movie. Great for a rainy day in New Orleans. Recommend for all families and kids to experience this amazing aquarium.

Nikki Bordelon

It was fun! My daughter and I enjoyed ourselves. In My reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because when we got to feed the stingrays, the guy running it didn't even show us what to do or how to do it. He just handed us the the food and that was it. Other than that I loved it!

nykeshia swaw

I love the fact they have an area where you can interact with the sting Ray's. They literally will jump out of the water to let you touch them. Their body feels like sand paper and kind of slick too. I think that is so amazing!!

Ian Hargrove

Cool place to go with kids. Employees are fun and helpful. Atmosphere is cool and changes in different areas. They show creatures from Amazon as well as North America. I think they even have some from the Pacific. Would definitely recommend. Signs are everywhere and help to figure out where to go.

Sydney

Very nice, lots of different animals to see. I loved the theme, like ruins and then a forest, which was so amazing. Huge place that also had penguins, food court, and a stingray petting tank! We were actually pretty impressed with the food, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Heather Zachry

Great place to take the kids! The only downfall is it's really quick to go through... not a whole lot to see.

Bryant Eubanks

This place was very fun and great for the kids. I only have several criticisms. First, parking I know it is New Orleans but parking should not have been $25.00 to take my kids to the Aquarium. We are already paying far too much on the attraction. Second, the Aquarium was far to small for the price. Third, it didn't feel like it had a lot of kid friendly places or places to eat. It would have been much more of a hit with our family if it had like a mini play ground or something more interactive for the kids. I did have a good time but these areas are why the trip was not perfect.

RIPAN BHOWMIK

Wasn’t impressed by the aquarium. It’s okay aquarium. Love the design. Lost of fish . So many penguins .

JoEllen Malveaux

A little crowded due to a free day for local residents. However, staff was friendly and helpful. A few exhibits were closed, but enjoyed the tank with shark, big fish and turtle, as well as penguin area.

Kimberly Carmon

Enjoyed Visit but doesn't compare to Atlanta Georgia's Aquarium. Too pricey to not have as much to see. Glad to know there will be more added soon. Honestly kind of disappointed.

Jessica Bailey

Amazing aquarium! Parakeet Point is a must see, and the whole place is great for adults and children and not too crowded. Staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Ronnie C

A good place to stop a d walk around to read and learn things. Was a fun experience.

Kaya Hard

One of the best aquariums to check out in the country. So much to see so get in early. Also catch a 3D movie. Great for a rainy day in New Orleans. Recommend for all families and kids to experience this amazing aquarium.

Jennifer Jenkins

Fun and lively, with a lot of interactive exhibits that appeal to all ages. Knowledgeable tour guides, engaging and full of a pleasing mix of scientific facts and information about the local ecosystem and how our vital culture here on the Mississippi River ties into the broader watery world around us. For a relatively small aquarium compared to others I have been to, I had an experience that made me feel connected to the mysterious creatures in the waters that we see every day.

brian mcmanus

Nice place to cool off from the heat and check out the beautiful creatures. Would have been 5 stars but upstairs was under construction.

Beeutyful Mess

Beautiful aquatic life. This was the first time I have visited the aquarium since I was 12 yrs old. Wow, 31 yrs is a long time. It has only gotten more beautiful as the years have gone by.

michelle christian

We had a great time...my grandson who is 6 wanted to go back the next week.

A L

So much fun. My two year old enjoyed herself the whole time. The bathrooms were considerably clean to say there were so many people in attendance. This was very helpful while potty training. No one was rude or pushy. The birds were the highlight! They were so much entertainment.

Living4 JesusthesonofGOD

Its a beautiful place. The fish tunnel tanks are pretty awesome to walk through. Amazing exhibits. Highly recommended for the whole family. They've got food drinks. Highly recommended for everyone with or without interest in see life.

Amber Turrentine

This is a small aquarium. It took about 1.5 hours to get through the entire building with 6 kids. Don't expect to see any big sharks here. The flow of exhibits was nice. The alligator had a birthday party. They made sure to include the crowd in every way possible.

Damein Quinland

This is a nice attractive to visit once in New Orleans, its interactive with kids in mind. However there were areas where we had to lift stroller down steps and up the escalator... not sure if elevators were available or access for strollers or wheel chairs. Plus the only major detractor was they were going through construction/renovations while we were there.

Audrey Heyward

Fun little aquarium! We did both the zoo and the aquarium while in NOLA. Was surprised that the aquarium is a bit small. Easy to get to via public transport. Fun fact: the zoo/aquarium offer a combo ticket. Very affordable and it gets you admission into both venues!

Tessa Arnold

Small but awesome aquarium. The small size is a bit of a benefit, as you're sure to see all the is in an afternoon trip. Keep an eye out for the hawk and owl in the Louisiana section.

Tawneisha Salinas

Nice looking place. Was expecting more, but it was nice for what it was. Might come back in October when the shark exhibit comes

Jan Stepanovsky

Very informative about sea life. Up close and personal experience.

Jake Morrison

I have not been back to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas since I was much younger. While there were not as many exhibits as I would have liked, the ones that were there were wonderful. It's currently undergoing some updates and renovations, so I'm happily planning to come back in a year or two. My wife and I showed up at 3, and the staff was very nice and helpful. We watched the penguin feeding, and spent the afternoon leisurely walking through the aquaria. I'd say plan for 45 minutes to an hour and a half to easily see everything, including some time to soak in the majesty of the animals. And definitely pet a stingray!

Kristian Standefer

So much fun! Great to escape the heat on summer days.

Larry Atchley

Very nice place. Lots of fish that we don't see very often.

Diamante Ma

My sixteen month old had a lot of fun. We didn't think she would enjoy it as much. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't too crowded. Plus the Fried Chicken festival was going on. Definitely recommend and we'll be back.

Jason Williams

Visited in August and it was an enjoyable time. As expected, it can get very busy with children and families, but it's a nice stop off in New Orleans

Mallory Steward

Love it! This is a wonderful place for a day of family fun. My kids enjoy every moment of adventure here.

Josephine Fleming

Had a great time with the kiddos and in-laws on a Friday afternoon. Spent several hours here, including lunch (which was overpriced at best), and the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We liked the play area and touch pool; who knew stingrays were so soft! We bought the combo tickets to all three Audubon areas (Zoo, Insectarium, & Aquarium) so it was a little pricey, but this was our vacation so it was budgeted for. Two adults, two seniors, two kids was $250 or so for all three and the theater. There were a few places for people to sit and that was important to us as well.

Rita Barnes

If you get to New Orleans and don’t visit the Aquarium you have really missed out! I had a fantastic day there and I highly recommend it!

Ashley Williams

It's nice. My only complaints are the crowd and for the price, it's a pretty small place. It seems like its over quicker than it starts.

Adrian Walker

For the size and duration of time we had. It was a perfect day. Majority of exhibits were open and the atmosphere for families was perfect. Hopefully, they will expand. It seems that they are avoiding putting any large marine/ land mammals on exhibit in this post Sea World age we are living in. So do not expect to see dolphins, whales or polar bears. All in all you get a great bang for your buck and it is centrally located for convenience to hotels, shopping, dining and sightseeing.

Scott Heard

Great place to explore with the family while staying out the heat of summer! Best to try and go during the week as the weekends are packed and make it hard to navigate. The eating area has a really nice view of the river to watch boats/ships go by when you take a break from the animals.

Paul Sherrod

Was a nice place to bring the family, but was a little disappointed to have gone through the whole place so quickly. Looking forward to more exhibits coming in the future and cant wait to check out the zoo, insectarium, and planetarium. Gift shop had all kinds of neat knick knacks and wasnt too expensive. Membership passes are definitely worth it and would recommend for anyone going more than once a year!

Richard Davies

Great place it has salt water, fresh water, and swamp water habits. It's in Louisiana so that's the local habits (New Orleans). Nice time the kids loved it.

Jacque Martin

Kids had a lot of fun. A little crowded but still able to enjoy ourselves.

Mir Furqan

The best aquarium I have seen so far. Has got species I have never heard about .

Chad Yeamans

Fantastic Aquarium! I'm an Audubon Member so we visit on a regular basis. We usually park right behind the Aquarium in the lot between the Aquarium and the Westin, and remember to get your parking validated when you walk in to save you a few $$$. The tunnel when you first walk in is a good picture spot and my 3 year old loves to watch the divers/snorkelers. We love the 1030 feeding of the Penguins as well, great information and who doesn't love penguins! There's a pair of wonderful and playful Sea Otters, a play area for small kids, a white alligator, a really cool Owl my daughter has coined "Muffin" and the most beautiful large exhibit at the end where its a mock-up of the bottom of an oil platform with Tarpon, Sharks, Grouper etc etc etc. Oh and a huge Sea Turtle. Enjoy!

Megan Becerra

We came to NOLA for our honeymoon and only intended on stopping here for an hour or 2 to pass time while we waited for nightlife to open again... And we ended up spending our ENTIRE day here. This place is AMAZING and there is so much to do with regular entry ticket like seeing the penguins get fed and watch the otters get trained! Additional fun things like feeding the parakeets and sting Ray's are a couple of bucks at most and goes to feed the animals. We had a BLAST here for 2 30 year olds with no kids!!! Will come again with family next time for sure. This is the biggest part of our honeymoon memories and we tell everyone about our great time here at the aquarium!

Sheiva Morgenstern

Had a great time! Good environment for all ages. Well designed and great exhibits. The escaped room they put in is awesome!!!! My husband and I had a good time.

midget minion

My grandkids enjoyed it. Lots of things to see. Only complaint is that the air was not working in the eating areas! It was so hot that people were not buying food and choosing to leave early. Service was great but we only bought drinks and left. Hopefully it's fixed now. Well worth the money and plan to return yearly.

Shawn Williams

I haven't been to an aquarium in year, I had a wonderful time. Loved the jellyfish.

Jodie T

The aquarium is good. A lot of different species to look at and different sections of the place. In some of the biomes, there are owl/birds/parrots chained up. They’re sitting there, unable to move. It’s cruel. There are no need for birds like that in an aquarium. Seeing them chained up was really heartbreaking

Emerson-Jane Jones

Great aquarium! They focus on promoting environmental consciousness!

Courtney Hall

It's super great. I loved all the exhibits especially the jellyfish, seahorses, and penguins. It is a little chilly in there so if you run cold bring a light jacket.

Manuel Colón

Consider getting tickets to their daily movies as well. There are lots of options.

jessica melder

It was better than the aquarium in TX. For the price I expected a little more to see. But overall the kids enjoyed it. Took us about 30 mins to walk through.

Clay Lambert

A little pricey in my opinion but the aquarium was nice. Difficult moving around all the people pushing a wheelchair but it was manageable. I recommend purchasing the tickets online because you will save money, and not have to wait in the long line outside. Plan to spend a couple hours if you move through it at a leisurely pace but don't get there to late because they do close at 5.

rebecca Johnson

My daughter and I enjoyed the aquarium yet the price does not match the size. Nothing there different other than you can feed some birds with some bird food they glued to a stick. The sticks cost $3 a stick.

Jay Kim

Fantastic aquarium with a large variety of sea creatures and interactive exhibits for children, such as the stingray petting area. My son had a great time wandering through and was incredibly excited to see the sharks as you near the end of the aquarium. Staff are friendly and the gift shop offers a large variety of items. Would definitely return again.

Amanda Sharp

I took my son here for the first time and we loved it! So many different things to see and learn about all the marine life. My son's favorite part was when he was able to pet the stingrays. In the food court we treated ourselves to some ice cream. It was a great experience and we will come back again.

rag e63

There is so much to see. I'm not a huge fan but I was impressed and enjoyed it.

Emily Clarrey

This aquarium was very small and cramped. Also the way it was set up didn't make much sense. The staff were very nice though. If you purchase the Audubon experience package it is a good deal.

Angela Hamilton

A variety to see. Really enjoyed watching the penguins feeding (penguins are one of my favorites). Liked feeding the sting rays-they feel so smooth. At the otter feeding we could feel the dry coat they have.

Jay Dovner

$60 for a senior and adult. If you want to get out of the sun and heat, this is a nice place to kill time. Aquariums are a hit or miss, depending on the area that water life is living in. I've been to a few other Aquariums in the US, and the Monterey CA is one of the best. This Aquarium is somewhat limited, also, doing construction on the top floor. It has its moments, when you first walk in, pretty impressive, but then goes a bit bland from there.

Brittany Courier

Aquarium is meh at best. We were not impressed especially for the price. My 6 year old enjoyed the touch tank with the little sting rays and that was it. We are from out of town and do not recommend it.

Randy Nichols

Very nice Aquarium to visit. It wasn't as large as I would have liked it to be, so the time spent was too short. It was clean and had some interesting exhibits that were worth seeing.

Sandi Sankey

There is something for all ages, from 1to 100. It is educational, interactive, entertaining and a true visual feast for the eyes. Each time we go there is a new and fascinating display to learn from and delight in seeing. I highly recommend everyone go to visit as often as possible...if that isn't possible, at least go once!

Dale Nutter

It's amazing, love it. We'll probably go back soon when the new exhibits open.

Renea Bailey

It was so amazing! Petting the stingrays & holding the parakeets, it was so much fun! We had a church youth group on a mission trip to LA & this was our day out.

sandra joseph

Very nice spot, enjoyed the aquarium very much. Will definitely return with the kiddos.

KingSCAN yt

I had an amzing time her, so much to look at, it left me in awe. Great gift shop too though it is a little pricey

Hannah Blank

I usually go to the this aquarium every 2- 3 years, this past visit I could not believe how much the quality has gone down. I bought my niece, she had fun but her favorite part was the gift shop, when I asked her it took her a good minute to give me an answer. Sad. The tank quality is horrible. I mean, when was the last time they've been cleaned? The glass had green scum on multiple tanks, the salt water tanks were murky and not clear at all. What happened to all the jelly fish exhibits? What happened to the shark exhibits? Just one jelly fish tank with only 4 jelly fish. Ticket prices increased and then of course you have to pay for every single thing inside, to touch a mantaray, pay to feed the bird... The most exciting part (as an adult) was the seahorses, the two sea otters and paying online to skip the line. After seeing other aquariums across the states, I will never waste my hard earned money here again. Tourist might enjoy it, but this local did not.

Juan Lima

Smaller than expected. Some of the exhibits were closed so there wasn't as much to see. The price for the aquarium included a ticket to the IMAX theater which was a good viewing experience.

Danna Williams

We had so much fun here..Friendly staff, clean establishment, and affordable food n gift shop. They also had a few things the kids can play on.. Everyone can come and enjoy this family outgoing

Juliette Kesterson

Awesome aquarium!! Doesn't take long to get all the way through with stops (1-2 hours). We got to pet the manta Ray's and there are a bunch of other interactive experiences including feedings. Very nice gift shop too!

Amber Buchanan

There really wasnt much to look at. Exhibits were closed and it was super pricey for what they have. The only time there was a person talking about a exhibit was feeding time and some schedule things was not on the itinerary. Animals looked happy and healthy tho. And just fyi there is very small play area in the middle of the top floor and you can not dodge it so parents of small children beware.

Mary Hozlock

Visited here on a business trip. One of the nicer aquariums I've been in. Conveniently located in heart of NOLA on river walk. Fantastic for kids. Worth a visit if you are in to aquatics.

Liz Rose

Beautiful and amazing experience. This is a nice family friendly place to visit with hands on interactive experience with some of the local aquatic animals. This place is a must to visit when in New Orleans and is also in a great location to other attractions.

Steve Lipp

The Aquarium is a very nice place to go to, but not an Aquarium to go out of your way for. There are certainly more impressive aquariums I have visited before, but since this one has such a positive rating, I figured I'd check it out. It definitely serves the local educational experience and in that way families and school classes should definitely spend a visit. Yet, the price is way too steep for what is on show. The visitor is well guided on a path through the exhibition. The food court unfortunately is run by fast-food chains and the quality of the food does not live up to the notion of saving the ocean and its inhabitants which one is reminded of throughout the museum. Also, it does not educate kids to a healthy and sustainable choice... It's sad that to keep up the aquarium, the price has to be high, but also food chains have to be installed.

Tiara

Awesome place! They have a birds exhibit and have such beautiful animals. there's also a exhibit where you can feed it to stingrays. Apparently they are planning an additional shark exhibit which will be so cool. I enjoyed the penguin demonstration. I wanted to do the penguin interaction experience but wasn't excited about having to share the experience with strangers at the cost it was.

Meadow Gobert

Lots of things "under construction". Probably needs an update. Smaller than I remember. Staff is very friendly and helpful tho!

Crystal Kennedy

I do hope they build the aquarium up more and add additional exhibits for its patrons. Overall, great experience for my family. The moon jellyfish were my favorite and the stingrays for my children. You get to feed the stingrays which is pretty cool.

Nuclear

Really amazing place for your family I enjoy going with my family and i think you will to

Ryan Hunter

Pretty disappointed in the small size of the whole place. There are nice fish and exhibits but we were in and out within an hour or so. Other aquariums we've been to seem much larger.

Jessica Lawson

Active improvements going on. You get a free movie with your admission if you buy a general ticket. Offers student, AAA, and military discounts. One particular spot near the seahorses smelled particularly fishy and i had to move on. The gulf of Mexico area was phenomenal with a huge tank set up similar to an underwater oil rig. Otters were adorable.

I love aquariums and visited her alone while my partner was in business meetings. Favorites were the seahorses they had so many and easy to observe. Also the otters were a lot of fun. Easy to do the whole aquarium in a couple of hours. Food at the cafeteria was a little pricey, as can be expected, but the chicken fingers were surprisingly good. Enjoy!

Eunju Namkung

Really creative exhibitions. Can tell there is good vision behind them. Parakeet area also super fun. Wish aquarium featured more animals. It's a relatively quick aquarium to get through.

Regular Guy

This place is fantastic! My Family and I had a fantastic time! I strongly recommend that you take the time to go.

They are doing some renovations and additions it seems, but it's still an enjoyable outing. I've been numerous times and I enjoy it each trip!

Manny Liu

The staff from Audubon Aquarium was top notch. The ticket entrance included a 3D movie of your choice and Sherman upon determining that my wife was suffering from an acute plantar fasciitis guided us to the top of the theatre via an elevator and provided my wife a wheel chair for the aquarium part of this great experience. Btw the aquarium was very enjoyable. Loved the experience.

Apryl Gavin

There is a great variety of jelly fish and they have a great set up for each type of environment.

Lindsey N.

Went with high expectations and was disappointed. Pros: nice parakeet section and the sea lion training is worth watching and listening to. Cons: way overpriced. $30 for an adult. Lots of construction and exhibits in progress without sea life. Super small-expected much more for a price that rivals top notch aquariums like the Shed. You can be in and out in an hour. Wish we would have passed on visiting.

I loved it! There we're so many seahorses. Just a whole room of adorable seahorses. Plus great gift shops. Loved the nurse sharks all chilling together. Otters were adorable. Got some great pics too. Highly recommended. Aquariums are always a great idea for any group.

Sean Craft

Very cool aquarium that does a nice job with the small details.

Maieee WR

This place is so cool. Lots of space to move through the exhibits. All the creatures look healthy and the tanks are well lit. Great information plaques about whatever you stand in front of. The cafeteria needs to be updated. Small selection of food choices, seating quite cramped but has a awesome view. Its well maintained by the staff and very clean, just small.

Vira Cellee

Had a great day at the aquarium! All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We encountered Greg, several times and thoroughly enjoyed our conversation with him. Lots to see and do, you won't be disappointed. Don't miss feeding the parrots!

Tommy Rebik

The aquarium is a great place to bring children and adults of all ages. While the weekends can be a bit busier there is plenty of room for everyone. Right on the banks of the Mississippi the surrounding area offers plenty to do after your time in the aquarium. There aremany different exhibits and they take you through all the different creatures of the sea. Our favorite are the otters.

Ellie Hall

I really enjoyed this place. The displays were clean and interesting and full of healthy specimens (so far as I could tell). Staff are friendly and willing to share information if they know it. I enjoyed the stingray exhibition where you could pet the stingrays. I really thought the seahorses were great!

Drake Jenkins

Great exhibits and knowledgeable staff. The parakeets were cool trying to climb in our pockets!

Justin Finley

is a great place to go and visit. Only reason I give it 4 stars is due to the fact that it was a bit more price here then I feel it should have been. Going to have a lot more exhibits and other Aquarius animals

Steve Hall

Wonderful exhibits. Our kids loved petting the stingrays, feeding the birds and the penguin exhibit. The jellyfish, and big aquarium were really cool.

Batrek Yassa

It’s a decent aquarium but I don’t think it’s really worth the steep admission, I guess it’s okay since it’s supporting conservation and animal maintenance though. When I went (mid August) lots of exhibits seemed closed or under maintenance which was a bummer. I’d advise skipping this and heading to the insectarium down the street, it’s smaller but so beautiful and fascinating!

Will Dwyer

Really nice place. Walk through tunnel was shorter then I wanted but that's just cause it was really cool. Got a giant sea turtle, the rain Forrest exibit was amazing. Definitely worth the money.

William Shafer

It was amazing, until it started flooding outside, and they opened the doors and let people in for free. 63 dollars down the drain. You couldn't walk, see, or hear the people giving the shows. Started great, got bad really fast.

Kasey Varnado

I've grown up going here! It's never a disappointing trip. I've taken my children now and they always have so much fun. We make it a yearly trip to come and have a day at the aquarium and the city. The zoo and aquarium package is a great deal and will be doing that one next time.

Chris Mitchell

Would definitely recommend the penguin pass to anyone considering going here.

Jewel Gradney

It was awesome! I really enjoyed the Amazon Rain Forest Mississippi River, Parakeet Pointe, and the classes and movies.

Ayush J

Nice exhibits, easily accessible. Got to pet stingrays and see a variety of marine life - diverse population! A couple of exhibits were closed. This is very close to the outlet collection at RiverWalk as well which makes it convenient to go here.

Moats ian

Enjoyed the exhibits. Caught the shark movie in the theatre in 3d.

Zach Anderson

Decent fish, went on a day where there were field trips of kids so we can't really blame anyone for that. Tanks/glass could have been a little bit cleaner. Definitely nothing like the shed aquarium in Chicago.

Gene Outlaw

Love this place.Great aquarium right in the water front of the Mississippi River. I really thought the seahorses were great!

Jermani Wright

I was not impressed with the aquarium. It was too many kids and annoying people having no regard for other people to see from the back. For 56 dollars me and my bf might as well went to a restaurant. The fish that I was able to see were beautiful and it is a wonderful setup.

Trisha Cook

They have beautiful exhibits and they are working on a new shark section. I love visiting the otters and penguins too. And a lot of their seahorses are very pregnant right now so there's going to be a bunch of babies soon

Brandon Z James

This was an amazing way to cool down and see some great animals. The penguins came up to the glass and bobbed into it as if asking to be pet. The next absolute highlight was the parakeet exhibit, I would urge anyone to pay the $1.50 for a small feeding twig so that you can feed these friendly little guys. But even if you don't and stand still they still seem to want to check out your pockets and shirts to make sure you didnt bring treats in. At one point my father-in-law had three little birds clinging to him while the rest of the party each had one or two.

Catrina Stevenson

We absolutely loved this place. It took us around 2 hours to go through everything. Our kids range from 3-17 and they all loved it.

George Tassin

We have a membership with Audubon zoo and love visiting the Aquarium. My kids just love seeing all the fish and animals here. Everytime we go they love seeing the penguins and petting the stingrays. Seeing the white alligator it's awesome as well. Last visit they was doing some remodeling so the visit was shorter but I know great things are too come and look forward to seeing new exhibit. See yall soon.

Gail Blaine

Had a great time with the kiddos and in-laws on a Friday afternoon. Spent several hours here, including lunch (which was overpriced at best), and the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We liked the play area and touch pool; who knew stingrays were so soft! We bought the combo tickets to all three Audubon areas (Zoo, Insectarium, & Aquarium) so it was a little pricey, but this was our vacation so it was budgeted for. Two adults, two seniors, two kids was $250 or so for all three and the theater. There were a few places for people to sit and that was important to us as well.

Pamela Townsend

Toured the aquarium while in New Orleans on a class reunion. There were too many empty exhibits for the price we paid. ($29.95+tax) almost half the exhibits were empty or under remodeling. Half the exhibits should been half the price., but no one asked me. ☺ A movie of some kind was also included. But would have just loved to just see the animals.

Shenice Rutherford-Maxton

It was really fun. Not too crowded. I got to pet a stingray which was fun. The otters were so cute.

Justin Fox

This is a great place to come visit! It's a fun time for all ages.

Dalton Powell

Would be 5 star if not for the horrible staff. The ticket window staff were incredibly rude and demeaning. I understand customer service is a stressful and tasking job but they did berate my 20-year-old friend to tears when she asked a simple and honest question.

Michele Kainz

It's under construction otherwise I would give it a 5 star. Plenty of encounters for the young and young at heart. On top of feedings and close encounters, the animals are in their own habitat with the biggest being the coral reef built for this ecosystem survives. After seeing unusual sea creatures, we watched exciting 3D IMAX feature on the ocean and specially the loss of the wetlands and its effects on flooding during Katrina. This is one of three we saw. I am guessing that they wanted someone on a scooter was well taken care of.
