Right now the business has a score of 4.5 stars out of 5 and the rating was based on 1060 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is practically the top, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can say that the score is very reliable. If people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Zoo belongs to the category of Zoo.
Awesome zoo. We loved it. Great place for everyone
Awesome
Love the zoo very clean and organized
Nice little zoo. Many of the enclosures are empty.
Very impressive really enjoyed our little family visit to the zoo. Great walking and very personable people we shall be returning for more visits in the future. The animals look well and attended to with great respect a very admirable feature of the zoo and it's staff.
It was a nice walk. The food was a little high but good.
Great zoo for a small town. Beautiful animals, easy to walk and follow paths. Plenty of well placed cool down areas.
Very well laid out. Lots of different exhibits for a smaller city zoo. From small Tamarins to lions they have a gray variety of animals to see.
A wonderful place to hang out with friends and family. My church Calvary Baptist has rented the zoo for two hours and we are having a blast!! Even on regular trips we have fun!! Love our zoo!
Great day at the zoo, many animals were out and active for a change, could have been the weather, rapidly changing weather conditions. The animals awake and noisy. A lot of fun for all who were visiting this Father's Day. The staff were polite and friendly. Parking lot was easy to find a spot.
It was a great day with my Bug's (granddaughters)
It's a great little Zoo! Especially for a small town zoo The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is. Because I've been to the San Diego Zoo... This is no San Diego Zoo but still a great one. We are lucky to have it in our area and proud to be members!
Has all the animals you want to see. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to go through. You can get close to the big cats.
It's really an amazing zoo, especially for a small town the size of Alexandria.
Gavent been here in 4 years and its amazing. Grrat changes has happened. A must stop if in Alexandria
I’ve been coming here since kindergarten. Its not a huge place but its a nice stop to enjoy some animals and nature. My kids enjoy it, despite going to Dallas zoo and Animal Kingdom in Florida.
Love this zoo. It feels so natural and the animals mostly all have companions and are active and seem happy. They get an A+ in my books!!
Had fun with grands...they truly enjoyed it!!!
Really well themed zoo with large enclosures!
Wonderful zoo to bring the whole family to, the train ride is also a A very nice tour of the zoo.. ample parking that is right in front of the entrance...stores are close by and A Baseball field right next door to the zoo and a water park is close by..
The kids loved it
We love this place!!!
Must see! Super clean and well taken care of animals! Great experience for kids or adults! Would definitely go again!
We loved the zoo! Will visit again soon!
Wonderful exhibits and animals. Fun for every age
Wonderful zoo. A little small.
Awesome park. Cleanest and healthiest zoo/park I've seen. Animals are well-cared for in natural habitats. Prices are so reasonable you can't pass it up. Staff was extremely accommodating. They give them lots of treats. Animals looked very happy. They have some nice rare endangered animals that were displaced from their homes. Their signs are educational and also a cafe on premise. Highly recommend!
Love the animals!
We were there for about 6 hours. It was a wonderful experience!
Love it here. Great friendly enviroment. And wonderfully kept up.
Excellent place for children and adults! Dont forget to visit during Christmas, the decorations are beautiful!
We had a great time
Nice place build by people effort ,clean and nice for kids
Great place to take ur family!
Excellent zoo. The animals are well taken care of and are very active. The grounds are kept up nicely. Very friendly staff, and reasonably priced tickets. A great place to take the family.
Animals never seem active. I've been a lot and they mostly just sleep. Train ride is fun. I want to see an elephant.
Event tonight was great! Some animals were visible, most were not. Train rides through park were also available. Great time for all.
Fun time with the kiddos. It’s always a go-to slot when boredom hits and there’s nowhere to go in Alexandria. For a small city this zoo is very nice. They have cool events for Halloween and Christmas and throughout the year. It’s worth the trip and is a good way to occupy children’s imagination for a few hours.
Its okay. 10 years ago it was better though.
Very awesome place. My kids love coming here. They have a lot of different animals. They keep expanding.
Lots to see, well laid out friendly staff.
The Alexandria Zoo was beautiful. We were able to see the animals close up. It was small but the spaces were used thoughtfully. I would go back again.
Great place for the kids. Just wish they wouldn't have so many exhibits with no animals.
Great zoo. Variety of animals is well worth the price. Kids love the train.
Alexandria Zoo all the animals were out and about. A place to visit again.
This place is amazing, some of the inclosures seem small but i didnt see one animal i would call unhappy. I hope Grandmaster Steve Irwin would approve
If you can travel from monroe and skip the zoo there, I would highly recommend it. These animals here look happy and well taken care of. They have space to live in, lots of accessories, appear well fed, and genuinely are really uplifting to hang out around. Some zoo's the animals just appear to be sad animals in a small space... not here. The train ride is short albeit, but very fun and on actual tracks. Great views of the animals here as well.
We all enjoyed this zoo as it surprised me as to the amount of animals they had and how close you were able to get to the animals. Would definitely recommend this zoo.
Really enjoy this zoo. Especially love going through the Louisiana exhibit.
This review is more about Holiday Lights Safari. It is a wonderful time with my kids every December. It was fun tonight, even in the rain. None of the workers complained or seemed bothered about working in the rain, even the train conductor. We enjoyed the hot chocolate, Debbie's Meat Pies were amazing, and Santa actually made my toddler feel comfortable for once. Thanks Alexandria Zoo!
A very lovely zoo. Plenty of shade, a large variety of animals. It felt magical, the enclosures had fans in them, and the animals were very reactive and lively.
Needs some updates, especially the train ride. Couldn't hear any of the vocalizations, and only saw the back side of the zoo. Mostly the fences.
One of the best zoo's in the south. Well put together considering how it was expanded over the years. Has a lot of trees so going through it at 90 degrees was not so bad you had to keep stopping. Great exhibits and animals. Helpful staff and great programs during different parts of the year. If I lived closer I would join FOTAZ (friends of the Alexandria zoo) so I could go almost every day.
Such a great zoo! It is really well laid out so there are lots of animals to see without having to walk too much. Also, the walkways are almost entirely shaded. It is well set up for children, even those still in strollers. There are also good spaces for sitting, eating, and playing.
I had a great time all the animals very pretty my kids had fun. It's a good place to have a family day an lots of fun
Nice little zoo, friendly staff, fun little train ride. The animals and enclosure were good. The enclosures to us seemed a little on the small side, but again not a big zoo. Seeing the white tiger was amazing.
Kids had a blast on their field trip here. Great place to take kids. Good time for both adults and children!!
Awsome place big selection of animals parks clean and the kids loved it will be back
Clean, good selection of animals. Reasonable price.
Takes about 2 hours to walk around and see everything. Small enough for kids to see everything before they get bored. Do it right and at the end they have a park for the kids to burn the last of their energy.
We loved it but of the workers did not seem that helpful when we asked them somethinh
Great time with family at the 2019 Zoo boo.
We loved it. Especially with the it bring pretty cheap to get in. It was nice.
Great experience! When we arrived the wait for the tickets wasnt long. Although when we left the line was really long woth just one person at the admission counter. The ticket prices are very reasonable for what you get to experience. Children 3 and under free. 4 to 12 is 5.50. Adults are 7.50 and I cant remember. We kinda rushed through it and it took an hour and a half. There is a playground that looked fun for the kids. When you walk in you immediately notice how clean it is. Its not overwhelming with the typical zoo smell right when you walk in although as you get deeper in the zoo the smell is noticeable. Most of the animal areas are well taken care of. There are a variety of different animals to see.
We drive 2 hours, past our local zoo, to come here. The amount and variety of beautiful animals is hard to beat. Prices are VERY reasonable. Staff are polite and helpful.
Fun. Concessions. Were closed tho. We Had. A pretty. Ok time. It was inexpensive.
This zoo is fabulous!! They keep it very clean. The animals are very well kept. They have a cafe and vending machines throughout the facility. The prices are very reasonable! We loved it. We will definitely be back!!
Great place to visit. High prices, but fun to go to with kids
The best zoo in the state. The animals are well cared for and the park theming is on par with any amusement park.
Such a great zoo! It is really well laid out so there are lots of animals to see without having to walk too much. Also, the walkways are almost entirely shaded. It is well set up for children, even those still in strollers. There are also good spaces for sitting, eating, and playing.
Fun and almost entirely covered in shade. Will go again
Very nice and the staff were welcoming and friendly.I highly recommend it.
A very nice zoo surprisingly. Took a few hours to get through everything.
For the size of it was a great park
Had a really great time with my daughter and grandson
I was spending time with my family
Great place to walk and kill time. Being a member is such a huge perk. You can easily spend a day just hanging out walking around.
Way too many rodents and birds not enuf other species.. The squirrel monkeys were the best
The zoo is so much fun! They have done a lot if renovations and it has paid off. The zoo has a great selection of animals to look at and the price to enter is not bad at all. The train rides costs $2.00 per person and although it is fun to ride, it is not really made for adults to ride. Adults can ride on it but you will have to squish up your knees, lol. Definitely a great place to bring the family.
I loved it and the Alexandria Zoo will forever be a important part of my child hood memories
I loved the zoo. a variety of animals to see but alot of empty cages
It's a great small town zoo experience
It's one of my fave spots since I was a child. I have just passed the torch to my children. It's the one place I can go here to see something beautiful and would to see them eventually set free.
Great place for children and adult. I took my summer children group from my church
This was an awesome trip. The weather was great and the staff friendly. I certainly recommend you stop by here.
I had a great time all the animals very pretty my kids had fun. It's a good place to have a family day an lots of fun
The Zoo gets better every year. Dec going to continue to be a tradition for my family going into the Future
Nice little zoo, friendly staff, fun little train ride. The animals and enclosure were good. The enclosures to us seemed a little on the small side, but again not a big zoo. Seeing the white tiger was amazing.
I enjoyed the walk through the zoo. Some areas are under construction but still a really nice zoo.
The kids enjoyed themselves and there was plenty of shade.
Best Zoo I've been to so far. Long walk but worth it. Went on a field trip. Lots of animals to see and I love that we were able to feed the fish. The train ride was pleasant.
My husband and I visited. Just the two of us. We enjoyed our train ride, but it started to storm. We were sad not to finish our visit because we have been before with our grandchildren and loved it!!
Great famliy fun. My baby couldn't stop talking the ducks throughout the zoo.
Absolutely love it! Beautiful zoo! There are a lot of different amazing animals. There is a lot of shade to help keep you cooler in the hot Louisiana sunshine. They also have fans and misters to keep you cool. It's a great place for the whole family! Plus you won't blow the budget!
Great variety of exhibits. Always trying to find new ways to get people interested in wildlife conservation.
There was a lot of animals not there, signs that said fixing the exhibit.
Every time coming to the Alexandria Zoo is like a brand new experience. There's always something to encounter. The playground is a plus for my grandson , and the Palm Cafe has the best French Fries in town.
Went early in morning. Animals were out. Great to see them. Several paths were closed and we had to reroute with some back tracking. Still it was fun. And will be even better once the remodeling is done. Train ride now has an informational recording play during trip. Interesting.
It’s was awesome. I loved it as much as the kids. There’s so much to see there and it’s close to home for me. Can’t wait to go back!
Most animals were not in their cages when we went so we only saw about 10-15 and most were monkeys also the palm cafe is way over priced they charged me $2 for a tummie yummie and at Walmart I can get one for $0.75 and at super one I can get 3 for $1 also the train was not running so that's a bummer. but overall it is a good place to take children I've been multiple times before and usually I have a way better experience
Every time coming to the Alexandria Zoo is like a brand new experience. There's always something to encounter. The playground is a plus for my grandson , and the Palm Cafe has the best French Fries in town.
We happend to be there on a wrong day as it was too hot and most of the animals we wanted to see were hiding in the shelter. Still we could see white tigers, asian tiger, lions and a small leopard. These 4 stars are maiy for the maintenance and cleaning of the zoo. It is a relatively small zoo and has a good number of animals and i would say that the zoo is planned in a way that it is difficult to miss any area. Signs for direction are placed very well. Best experience here was the train ride. It was the best so far we have taken in any zoo. Kids enjoyed the ride and zoo... forgot to mention they have a small garden with a couple of rides for the kids.
Needs some updating but its still a awesome place to bring the kiddos
Don't expect the San Diego Zoo, but this is a great medium size zoo. It is very accessible and good for kids. It has tigers, lions, all kinds of monkeys, and an alligator that looks like it ate an ice cream truck. The year round pass is worth it and can be used for discounts at other zoos. The zoo will keep your kids interested and moving for at least 2-3 hours.
We are here at the zoo now and we LOVE it!!!!!!!
This zoo is amazing! I’ve come multiple times with my kids for field trips and on our own and we love it! It has come a long way and they keep adding more beautiful animals that are very well cared for. The staff is great! My son is autistic and he loves it there. Thinking about having their birthday day there this year, we had it at chucky cheeses last year and it was too much for my son he cried the whole time. So I think the zoo will be a great place since he did so well at the field trip!
My daughter broke her arm here and this park denied her medical bills...and didnt refund our money for that park that day...all she could say is momma i didnt get to ride the train...this park didnt ask how she was..or follow up...they didnt care for sure...but we enjoyed the animals...dont go in that park there its a dungeon for small kids...that elephant shakes..
I visited the Alexandria Zoo recently and I enjoyed every moment. It is a nice, beautiful clean zoo. There are Beautiful white tigers, eagles, lions among many other animals. Very nice. I love how the staff walks around and comment on the animals, they are also very friendly. I had a good time. Thank you
Lots of animals to see and fun for the whole family
Great family fun. Happy animals and a happy family!
The kids had so much fun!
Thanks for a great time, from the 4yo and myself!
The most fun I've had in a long time.
One of my favorite places to go for enjoyment
Kids have so much fun going to the zoo.
Went early in morning. Animals were out. Great to see them. Several paths were closed and we had to reroute with some back tracking. Still it was fun. And will be even better once the remodeling is done. Train ride now has an informational recording play during trip. Interesting.
Always one of our favorite stops! Courteous staff, clean, nice animal enclosures. Beautiful animals! Thank you!
The animals looked so well cared for. We enjoyed our afternoon exploring.
Always love the zoo. Only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 us because the train conductor never takes a lunch the same time each visit it seems like. Half the time he/she is at lunch when we want to ride the train. Other than that we love the zoo
Perfect size zoo. Always clean and we truly enjoy ourselves every time.
My grandchildren love going to the zoo in fact our whole family loves going to the zoo. And we love going to the many different activities they have at the zoo
Wish I would of came here earlier maybe the animals would of been more alive and moving
Compared to my local zoo, this place was the Taj Mahal of wildlife parks. The staff were friendly and helpful, the exhibits were interesting and informational, and the train ride was neat. The cost of admission was a bargain considering the breadth of the zoo. For anyone visiting Alexandria, I would definitely recommend seeing this local attraction.
It’s not a bad place for a small town
This is a great zoo for the size of the city it's in. They have a huge selection of animals for you too see and they seemed pretty well cared for. Some of the enclosures might be a little small, but you can tell the zoo is doing the best they can for their animals. I would definitely go again.
Fun & clean! Employees are always nice & the path/walkway is large enough to push a stroller without being in the way of other visitors walking by. Definitely worth the hour drive a few times a year.
Had a blast hanging out with my niece and her mom! We missed seeing the black panther but there were plenty of other big cats to marvel at.
Our daughter turned one and wanted to take her to the zoo. We got in paid for it and train rides didnt make it half way through before my husband's ex wife needed her son back. And we understood so he went to take my step son to meet her at academy which isnt far. I asked the woman that was at the front if my husband is going to be let back in explained the situation and how it was unexpected and our hands are tied but we already paid 20+ dollars and wanted to come back and join us for the rest of the zoo. She said no so once we leave we couldn't come back in she said normally you can leave 5 minutes and come back but not after 5 minutes. So my daughters birthday is ruined I wasn't going to just enjoy the zoo with her with him waiting in the car. It really sucks because she was enjoying herself. We could have taken that money and just did something else. So no longer will I go back just because they could have been understanding. 10 minutes wouldn't have killed them to let us back in. Shame on alexandria zoo.
The zoo is a great place to bring the family. The animals are really active during the spring time. There enclosures are kept clean and the animals all seem healthy. The staff will answer any questions you might have. The prices are good for the size of the zoo. Definately a good way to spend the day
Really enjoyed the field trip to the zoo with my great grandson
So very much family friendly and a variety of animals
This place has come a long way since my child hood. Absolutely one of the better zoological parks in Louisiana. If you enjoy zoos, the one in Alexandria will be worth your time.
This zoo is a hidden gem. Took our young kids and it was a very interesting experience for the whole family. Very reasonable admission charge.
We love our zoo! It's a fun, educational experience & a great walk! The adults in our party enjoy the learning centers & the kids love the train. The largest exhibits seem to be the multitude of bird species. We look forward to more large exotic animal exhibits.
It is a great place. Lots of animals and a train that goes all around the zoo. Very clean and beautiful. Lots to see and do.
If you turn your back to the tigers when they are in front of the glass, they will give you quite the scare, and a good picture.
I love it... First time I went there three yrs ago and now we go there every year!!! It's nice family funday together
Clean zoo. Beautiful animals
I always love the zoo. The lights and music were amazing this year. Will be renewing our FOTAZ membership and giving it as gifts.
The animals are nice and clean
Our zoo is Awesome, it really is worth seeing and fun for the whole family!
Nicely displayed animals. Visitors get close enough to study the creatures. Not huge but just right.
Very nice, we had lots to see even though they had parts under construction.
Hed a great time
Very cool experience. I have been there before but during the week the animals were alot more active. So many up close personal photos. One of the photos I had was of a bug carcus pretty cool. It's a good place for the kids and small enough for them to walk around. They also have strollers to rent as well if needed. Recommend going for sure.
It was nice. The zoo isn't so big that the kids get too tired while walking through it, but it's big enough that it has plenty of animals and exhibits to keep them and the adults entertained. The train ride was short but fun. The kids really enjoyed that as well.
My grandbaby loved it, will be going back.
Beautiful zoo. Great exhibits. Shaded pathways. Way less expensive than what they could be charging. Definitely a great deal.
Nice zoo long walking tough but fun
We went to see the Lights and to see Santa, but Santa left before time for the last train ride, so our babies missed seeing Santa. The line was so long when we first arrived, so we went to walk and see some of the animals and lights. When we went back by to see Santa, he had already left. We were sad. We rode the train sad. I guess Santa knows what the girls wanted for Christmas. I sure hope so, anyway!
Fantastic zoo! Well shaded so it's not too hot. Great habitat designs so it's easy to see the animals from multiple angles.
Had a great time with the family. The kids loved the train ride and all the animals.
Great knowledgeable staff, family atmosphere, fun projects for the kids, all in all I wonderful experience from kids to adults!
I HAVE NEVER BEEN HERE ...LIVED HERE FOR 4 YRS ..AND HAVE NOT BEEN INSIDE THE PLACE...HUM...
Nice small zoo. Needs more food options though .
It was well run. The animals looked happy and healthy.
It was a great feeling to see all those animals there
The white tiger's are so gorgeous if they aren't hiding
Always a fun day for the kids. The staff is helpful and the animal are photogenic
Great but hot kids ENJOYED
Loved it. Looks small n the outside but it's big on the inside. Very educational.
Stopped here on a whim as we were passing through Alex and what a pleasant surprise!! Great zoo enjoyed ourselves immensely!
It was decent. Bring water. They overcharge on vending. Lotz of walking involved.
Very nice medium size zoo. We visited on a Friday just before noon and it was not crowded at all. Nice exhibits.
Great zoo. They are remodeling several exhibits.
Animals like bears and tigers are usually hidding..
Wonderful family day!
Very cool experience. I have been there before but during the week the animals were alot more active. So many up close personal photos. One of the photos I had was of a bug carcus pretty cool. It's a good place for the kids and small enough for them to walk around. They also have strollers to rent as well if needed. Recommend going for sure.
Every time I go to visit my family I seem to always end up going there! It’s an awesome zoo I’m from Houston and prefer this zoo over Houston! It’s not expensive and kids have fun as I do too!!!
My husband took our grandson & he thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the Christmas event, they said the lights were spectacular. They enjoyed the displays & the train ride. The zoo was clean & staff was pleasant. They enjoyed themselves.
Very family friendly location with several interactive areas for kids to pet/touch animals. Very reasonably priced.
Beautiful animals .
It was nice had water sprinklers and most fans around the park 2 20 ounce sodas was over $5
Great place for the kiddos!
It was nice. The zoo isn't so big that the kids get too tired while walking through it, but it's big enough that it has plenty of animals and exhibits to keep them and the adults entertained. The train ride was short but fun. The kids really enjoyed that as well.
Great place to see animal's fun place
The zoo is amazing! It is good sized and peaceful! The animals are well cared for and it is a new favorite place!
The Alexandria Zoo is a favorite pass time in central Louisiana for animal lovers of all ages. Animals are often active. Regular activities are available.
We took a group for a birthday Zoo trip. We loved seeing all the animals. They look well cared for. Its peaceful. Its very clean. Many zoos seem very chaotic but this one was very nice. We were even able to get great pictures of the animals. My kids stopped zoo employees to ask questions and they were cheerful and provided knowledge to the kids. Very nice family fun! Very affordable for all.
Animals are well taken care of, beautiful scenery, clean habitats, workers are friendly
THE CROWN JEWEL OF ALEXANDRIA!!! Our zoo is the PERFECT place for a FIRST DATE (or 500th). It is equally perfect for children and adults to learn about conservation, animals of the world and the beauty of Louisiana's flora and fauna. I could visit here twice a month, from November until April as i am very hot natured, and I have no children! The zoo is peaceful yet exciting while being calming yet energetic. It is a place of happiness in an area that otherwise seems to be fighting against progression in every way. Especially those of old and new money charging much more to those who are earning much less.
