REVIEWS OF Topeka Zoo IN Kansas

Thomas Kirby

My mom and I had a great time at the zoo. There's a wide variety of animals to see and occasionally touch like the goats and animals at the small petting zoo and even a couple of Stingrays and small Tiger sharks between now and the end of September 2019. They are, however, going to be permanent residents of the Zoo. So visitors may come and learn about them and the rest of the animals and where they are from amongst other things. It's also a great place to have a picnic across the street where the train station is for Gage Park.

Caitie Rucker

Nice little zoo. I can get through with my kids in under 2 hours easily. Many fun areas for kids to play and learn. I really wish they would open the reptile room on a more consistent basis, my little boy loves the snakes but that building is closed 99% of the time.

Debbi Pape

Fun place.. Went early to beat the heat so all the animals were out and active...

Christina Camargo

We enjoy our visit, every time

Connie T

Nice, could of been better marked. But we will be back

Carrie Jackson

This zoo is so hands on and fun!

Jessica Jellybelly

I really enjoy this zoo, especially because there's a great big park with a train across the street from it. Makes for full day of fun memories!

Gavin Steinhoff

Great zoo with new exhibits. Some exhibits seem kinda small though.

Joseph Haley

Lots of fun at the Topeka Zoo. It’s reasonable and very fun. I went with the kids.

David Thompson

This place is a dream. Such a great zoo and the gage park is by far a top notch park! Train rides are sweet!

Tom Prewitt

This is a great zoo. Well worth the drive from KC.

kssunlover

I like to go walk and watch my favorite animals. Today was a good day.

Zachary Jones

Way beyond frustrated. Asked if they had strollers for a small child and then paid the full admission and price of a stroller rental. Then turned out the strollers had no buckles just a railing. Way to big for a small a one year child. Bobby the manager told us of the no refund policy. Ill be contacting the BBB because this is riduclous. Were not carrying a child around in 100 degree heat. What strollers don't have a buckle for a small child? Avoid this place families.

Paul

This zoo was great, much better than my local zoo in Florida. Super cheap too! I went around 9:40am which seems like the perfect time as they start releasing all the animals from their shelters -- which they are very much active, plus the crowds aren't an issue either.

Jacob Vollmer

So many great spaces in a great location.

Luke Johnson

I love this place i always bring my wife an son an he loves looking at all the different animals its so exciting everytime you go its like a new adventure definitely a place to bring you family for a day out.

jene wangerin

This was a great day trip, overall not too spectacular. Would probably be much more enjoyable in warmer summer weather, not everything was open. We really enjoyed the monkeys and wild dogs.

Scott Lakeside

Great little zoo. The focus has become one of quality of habitats over quantity of animals.

cheryl kerr

Small but well kept. No signs so you know where you are.

Kenny Hayward

The Topeka Zoo is a nice zoo for a city the size of Topeka. They just added the shark attraction which not only has baby sharks that during certain times you can touch but also very pretty rays that will swim right up to your hand to have your fingers rub against their back, they actually seem to like it. I enjoyed the rays more than the sharks, I saw a lot of kids petting them all the way to the tip of the tail which made me nervous, they are stingrays, none of the rays seemed bothered by it but I told my neice and nephew to only touch their bodies, I would recommend telling your kiddos the same thing, just to be on the safe side. I cannot remember the species of shark they have in there but they are only about half grown, about a foot long, the rays are a small breed of a beautiful whitish bluish ray, they too are small, I think its just the species of stingray, I doubt they would sting anyone because they seem to like being touched so much, but still, if a child grabbed the tail...that might fright the stingray into stinging, unless they have had their barbs removed somehow I never asked that. They didnt inform you at all that the rays were even in the pool, I was ecpecting just the shark which I believe to be more of a bottom feeder shark, they are dark brown with lighter brown spots and only get about 2 feet long, Im an aquarium Hobbyist, I keep African Cichlids that originate from lake Mbuna, so this was up my alley. And I bought all the kids a shark tooth at the little store they have as your leaving the shark exhibit, my neice and nephews are still so proud of those, the first thing they showed their Mom (my sister) and their father when they got home from their weekend vacation was their shark teeth, whenever I buy them something even a 1.79 shark tooth they treat it like its one of their most prized possessions. It tickles me to death. But the zoo is clean, all the habitats are suitable, I mean no zoo habitat is close to their real homes in the wild lets be honest, but they are there to educate us about endangered species, loss of habitat, their ar fewer than 300 Sumatran Tigers in the wild, their are more in captivity at zoos than in the wild, the fact is to save some of these beautiful species from completely going extinct is to keep them in Zoo's where they are taken care of, no poachers will hurt them, thats a sad realization, but our Sumatran Tigers have had 2 litters of cubs now, we get enough bred in captivity, get the dang poachers where they belong, which is sentenced to death as far as Im concerned. Conservation efforts are helping, but the zoos contribute by showing us these animals that there are less of in the wild than there are people at the zoo on a weekend. The Shark exhibit, which all are captive bred, teaches ocean conservation, the rainforest exhibit teaches rainforest conservation because they are cutting down our major rainforests for lumbar, those rainforests contribute to weather globally. And house the most species of plants, animals, and insects than anywhere else on earth. And its humans that are destroying our own planet, those people cut down orecious rainforests without a second thought because they dont care that what they are doing is killing habitat, and changing weather patterns on a global scale. Why dont they plant tree farms instead of cutting down the most precious forests on earth? Zoo's are here to teach our younger generations conservation so they dont make the same mistakes the many generations before us and current adult generations are still doing, Africa needs to wake up abd protect those forests with penalty of jail time if you cut down 1 tree, and they need to monitor it by helicopter or plane along with a team on the ground in all terrain sahara vehicles that if a plane sees trees being cut down they can send the ground team in their 4x4's to intercept and arrest the people, and render their equipment inoperable. We need to save our planet, thats what Zoo's are teaching.

Dusty Nichols

Beautiful day, just no animals out today :( should have asked before paying. Either way, a nice place to walk.

Rhiannon Juarez

LOVE it here. Beautiful

Elaine Ward

It was late and we didnt get to see as many animals but it was fun

Jessica Ruiz

We love this zoo. Not as big as the Kansas city zoo. We can finish this one in one day. The kids are not completely worn out which is good. There is a huge park across the street so they can play.

Brad Kirby

For a small zoo we were really surprised, very clean and had a lot of neat animals. Was very happy with the lay out of the park and how the animals were not in little cages but in Nice large places they could walk around and looked like there original homes. A++++

Jean Tibbits

The zoo family pass is now only good for 4 children and cost $70 a year.

Mackenzie Michel

Pretty cool for a small zoo. I wish the bigger animals like the giraffes, hippo, and elephants had more room to roam. Also maybe add another food place or hire more workers for lunch rush.

Tracy Cobin

Alway something new to see. Good old family fun

Tammy Alfaro

We loved TopZoo...such an amazing place to visit and so laid back...loved the G's and T's especially #ChatterFamilyVisit #VacaDestination #OutOfStateTourists

Makaila Martens

I love it even if its a small zoo.

Miguel Manjarres

Not what I'd describe as an exciting evening out with the kids. The Topeka Zoo has been plagued for years with in house issues from losing animals to illness and dropped funding. They seem to be turning it around and have made an enjoyable experience. The entire place can be looked over in a couple hours, and younglings (5-9yr olds) seem especially fond of the exhibits. The exhibits are a bit cramped, and most of the animals look bored out of their minds, but who the heck wouldn't be?

Stormy Lee

Lots to see and do. The orangutans are fun!

Nick

I was genuinely impressed by this zoo. I'm used to the St Louis zoo which is in another level sure to heavy donations so I want sure what to expect. The exhibits were interesting and unique and we happened to go around feeding time (entering the park around 1ish) so we got to see some activity from the animals. Due to the time of year we visited not all animals were out or available to watch though. It took about 2 hours to walk through with kids. The kids had a good time. If we didn't live out of state we'd try to visit again but realistically won't get much opportunity to in the future.

Amanda Burress

One of my favorite places to take my family.

Dallas Fellows

Serengeti nights at the zoo was fun with live bands food & drinks

kelsey lewis

Went to have a close encounter with my favorite animal ever and on the website it said I would get to hold it, and the lady I booked the encounter with said I would get to hold, feed play and get a goodie bag after, I did get to feed them, but I didn’t get to hold one nor did I get a gift bag, I was utterly disappointed, and to be quite honest pretty mad... you need to update your website or not tell people they get to hold animals. It was unfair and i Am probably gonna call for a refund.

Kyle McCluskey

The zoo was clean and easy to navigate. Good Variety of exibits and habitats, I personally liked the rainforest. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

David Berens

Fun good place for good times fun with the animals

shelby morton

My little one loved it. Lots of animals and place was really clean. Loved they're trying to stop using plastic (yes that means no straws or lids on sodas). Only downfall, the machines where you get fish food, only one worked.

Heather Porter

So many new updates and it is Amazing!!! If you have not visited in awhile it is highly recommended!! Only disappointment was the Lion wishing well was gone. I remember that was always a favorite picture spot!

Starfire 144

This zoo is condemned by a petition with 300,000 supporters. Please do not support this zoo. Elephants are dying there because of their in ability to care for the animals. Do NOT support them.

Rosa Andrews

Sad, there isn't many animals. Not like it used to be.

Tina Meyers

Better than it used to be but still not all that great.

StableTwist

It was a good zoo. The popcorn was flavored with pepper. And most things weren't there.

Carla Pasley

HAD A BLASTT WIT MY FRIENDS BUT TGE ANIMALS LOOK LIKE THEY R SO UNHAPPY N NOT ENOUGH ROOM TA EVEN MOVE !!!

Bryana Packham

The whole thing was kind of "meh". The layout is weird and the hot weather in the summer keeps a lot of the animals inside their holes/caves/burrows/homes etc. (which I suppose isn't different from any other zoo, but it's still disappointing). But when compared with the general atmosphere of Topeka and lack of things to do in the capital city, it's not too bad. It's just sad that it can't beat Wichita! We'll be going back at some point, but probably because it's the only option.

Steven Prevete

Took my toddler here for a lovely experience. It's not a very large zoo but it was perfect size for my little one! Especially with it being right down the street it was a very nice day seeing all the animals.

Jeri McIlvain

My granddaughter had a blast from feeding the ducks to seeing lions tigers her favorite the elephants. Seeing the hippocampus. We had an amazing day.

Jeffrey P. Harrington

Pricey, issues caring for the animals, rarely visit except when there are travelling exhibits. In the last 10 years my family has been maybe 6 times. Not worth the price.

Brigette Brundage

It's great. The tiger cubs have gotten so big. Lena the Orangutan gave me 3 kisses. Makes my day.

Nolan Trapp

Better than in years past. Added many new exhibits. Child friendly, time it right and you can even feed certain animals.

Jamie S

Kids loved it. Several of the animals are used to human contact. They were very active when people can to the glass.

C. T.

Nice paths to exhibits could use better signage. I had a hard time finding signs saying what animal it was and about said animal. Beautiful grounds though.

Mark Hunt ii

ever since the retrofitting of the Topeka Zoo and the renovations that they have done is been an even more wonderful and friendly environment. They always have great details for all the people involved wonderful and closures for all the animals. And events that are very enlightening for those who have not experienced nature.

Jesika Croom

We love this zoo! Since moving to the area we have been getting the yearly membership for a few years. Even without it, prices are very reasonable. Including in the gift shop and cafe. The new camp cowabunga is amazing! Great to get up close to the lions and other animals, while also learning about the history behind it. Overall, the zoo hosts many great animal habitats with opportunity to get up close to them. Check out their event calendar as you will find many awesome experiences for the young and adult alike! Restroom near the cafe has a comfy area for breastfeeding mamas, as well as changing station. Playground inside the zoo is simple yet fun, and the bigger gage park is on the other side of the zoo parking lot, which has a train ride and more! You will not be disappointed with a trip to the Topeka zoo! Just plan accordingly to the weather

Clinton Kegel

Great place to take the grandkids.

Kelsey D

Very beautiful zoo. Cute baby monkey and tiger Cubs. The water bubbles didn't work very well, no tp in bathroom but otherwise very nice.

Jake G

I only went to the kid play structure on the side of the Zoo, with my wife and 3 kids. Although the equipment was a bit dated it was fun. There are at least 4 play areas across 400 meters or so. Plenty of slides, stone animals to climb on and some train structures. If you are up for a game of tag or hide and seek its pretty great. If you are looking for the newest, nicest and best out door play area, this is not it.

monica moreno

I love our zoo. It's great for our small town

Wanda Cameron

I love going to the zoo, small enough to be able to walk and see everything.

Kelley Tindel

A very good place to visit it's an awesome Zoo

Katherine Halfmann

Awesome place to go!! Not to expensive for a zoo. Amazing park and fun stuff to do around the zoo!

Saylor Winfrey

The Topeka Zoo is so much fun! It’s just small enough that kids can walk it easily and it’s across the street from a wonderful, huge park. Their conservation standpoint and their emphasis on protection of the environment and animals is great. Check it out!

Jennifer Toenjes -

The visiting shark exhibit was well designed. I feel the zoo management needs to consider the needs of large families. Two years ago they allowed us to add extra kids to a membership, but now they have reduced the family membership from 5 to 4 children and the head management told me to by two memberships to cover my 8 children at over $120 compared to $70 the previous year They would not honor my reciprocal family pass today for the first time which lists all my children. I had to pay for each additional child over their limit of 4. I will be posting this info on facebook and encourage other large families (with over 4 kids) to let the zoo management know you are dissatisfied.

Kay E

Great for younger kids get in and out in about an hour

Mallory Baker

We love this zoo! They've done a lot of renovations and it's shaping up really nicely.

J G

The butterfly exhibit was closed but this place is cool!

Heather Duke

You aren't allowed to bring in drinks, but the vending machines are not working. People were washing their kids feet in the drinking fountain. So to get clean 'water' at the back of the park we had to pay $3 for a plain shaved ice. When we tried to ask a zoo employee where we could get drinking water she just sat on the golf cart with her feet up, on her cell phone while the other girl bagged trash.

E tyszko

Fun for little kids

Stick Ojala

Mostly all new exhibits ..Great place for a 2 hour zoo visit...Short distance between exhibits

Sean Talkington

Its small but very fun!! My favorite part was the aviary!

TheBookDecoder

It's nice that this zoo has lots of places for kids to play and learn. It's a bit lean on animals, but it more than makes up with places for kids to play and interact to learn.

Jasmine Murphree

Great place to take your children on a sunny day. The train director is awesome cheap 2$ per person for the train ride cheap entertainment for your kiddos definitely worth the trip. This zoo is a lot cheaper on entry fee than most. Been to this zoo at least 30 times everytime has been good. The park across from the zoo has tons of equipment for the children to enjoy themselves for free!

katie isaacson

So many new upgrades. Great way to spend the day

jo3nhen

Pretty run down. Wonder where all the tax money they get went.

Jan Hinterweger

Nice zoo, has new exhibits and does traveling visits too.

Jeremy Rathbun

I love taking my daughter to the zoo

Victoria Mitchell

Loved it! A nice little zoo with great animals and informative exhibits. The new Camp Cowabuga area was great and I wish the whole zoo could be updated to look like that. Despite being early in the spring and not all the animals were out, it was definitely worth the couple of bucks for a fun afternoon.

David Mootz

Great little zoo. Easy walk. Not the best if you want to photograph the animals but will do.

Destyne Poynter

There was construction so we couldn't get to the parking lot, there's also construction in the Zoo so some of it is blocked off. A lot of exhibits are closed, they didn't have a lot of animals and we didn't feel that we got our moneys worth. We also got food for my daughter husband and I and it took around 10 minutes for them to get our food done and they only gave us my husbands and my daughters food and forgot mine... it took them 10 more minutes to get mine done after I told them we ordered and paid for 3 meals not two and the lady rudely said "I'll make it then I guess" and when we received it it was half of what my husband had but was the same exact "meal" it was just slapped together and she rudely gave it to me and started asking the other customers what they were waiting on because she didn't know. We wouldn't recommend and will not be back.

Shannon Engler

My kids love going to the zoo. Lots of play areas and things to do.

Asa Miller

We couldn't find any food here so be prepared to not eat while you're here, though we did have shaved ice. Lots of employees making sure the visitors and the residents stayed safe and comfortable :) good experience, learned a lot. And!!! They have bees, which are very cute

Jessica Bouzianis

Small but nice zoo set up. Easy to see the animals, plenty of restrooms throughout, and parks across the street. Great place to spend an afternoon.

Leanna Meyers

Took my daughter for her first trip to the zoo Saturday 9/7. We arrived at 12:15pm and were informed at the entrance that the zoo would be closing at 1pm that day for some fundraiser later that evening. This was obviously not something that was properly posted in a way that visitors would know prior to arriving at the entrance, because at 1:30 I was still seeing many parents/groups getting out of vehicles only to be turned away by the time they got to the front gate. Then to top it off, they refused to offer any kind of discount on the admission price. We paid $8 and some change each to walk around for a whopping 45 minutes. The shark exhibit was a sad excuse and the sloths they've been advertising so heavily were nowhere to be found. Two things we were very excited to see in the short time we were allowed there that also ended up being a huge disappointment. Then I'm thinking, oh, well you have to exit through the gift shop so I can at least get my daughter her first little zoo souvenir. NOPE! Shut that down promptly at 1pm as well and had us exit through a different gate. I was thoroughly displeased with this zoo, not that it's been that great over the years to begin with. Thanks a heap, Topeka Zoo, for making my memory of my first child's first zoo trip absolutely dreadful. Thankfully she won't have to remember being as disgusted with this outing as I will.

Tayna Kincaid

It's a good place to go

Tracey Henderson

What can I say....I LOVE the Topeka Zoo! It's just AWESOME!!!

Jacqueline Bailon

It was our first time in Topeka, Kansas, and the first time going to this zoo. Our family enjoyed visiting, it's a great place to bring the whole family and the staff is very friendly and educated giving facts on the animals.

Latasha Harris

This zoo always has something going on. There are baby animals, a rain forest, a petting zoo. There are special events like Brew at the Zoo, an adults only event. They open the zoo up at night so kids can see the habits of nocturnal animals. The list goes on and on. A membership is also reciprocal with other zoos. This was an impulse activity for us. The zoo was very affordable and will not disappoint. Not too large, so you only need an hour or two.

Amanda Gatten

I was visiting a friend in Topeka and they suggested we take a trip to the zoo. I was very impressed! Great exhibits! I especially loved the rainforest area with the bats and the sloth. Very cool! It was a super hot day so not all the animals were out (which I was happy to see). If in the area, I would definitely recommend it!

Jasoni7 Matthews

Great little zoo. Animals are up close and visible

Christy Tucker

Very clean and the animals were great

Suzette Robinson

Just a place to relax and enjoy the nice day out. Just sat and chilled.

Mike Brown

Small town zoo not big but great for short trips with little oned

Jane Holden

World Famous Topeka Zoo has great animals with descriptions of them at each area, great photo ops, and its small and easy to get through in 2-3 hours. It's located in Gage Park with small train rides, pool, play and picnic area, carousel, beautiful rose garden, a small theater for stage plays, Discovery Center for young kids and a huge shelter to rent.

Megan Hollister

Has several neat little extras, but where are all the animals??

Michele Mitchell

Went to the Zoo and the kids had a great time. Lots to look at and do at the zoo. Even though it rained on this trip we got to see them feeding the giraffes and the other small animals. We loved the history learning displays throughout the facility. They are in the works of expanding and the new addition of a water garden looks fantastic. Looking forward to going back for the next trip.

Greg Hiszczynskyj

This is a great zoo with lots of great exhibits & friendly staff!

festure modle

I dont know why but I past the zoo and icdidint go tovthe zoo

Laffin Dragonfly

The zoo had many activities for kids, but having been a repeat patron for 20 years today I saw some improvements and some disappointing changes. The amount of actual "exotic" animals has dimished greatly. No gorillas, zebras, antelope, artic fox, or snakes like they once housed. Some exhibits have grown and improved and others seemed to have shrunk to questionable smallness. The Gift Shop ... Wow! Prices to rival a sale-less Macy's. Bought a small beaded frog ... Price tag said $23.99 and the cashier literally changed it to $28.99 in front of me at the register before telling me the total was over $34. Enjoyed seeing some of the animals, but not sure I'll be visiting again any time soon.

Tricia Dalaba

The shark exhibit was neat but tiny and we weren't able to pet the sharks at all.

Connie Dean

Wasn't much to see most of the animals were NO WHERE insight

Nick Will

Great local zoo.. have been going most my life. Its a wonderful asset to the community with a variety of animals.

Sonia Roling

My first time at the Topeka zoo. Very enjoyable. Will definitely go back again.

Jessica Morgan

Small but good conservation work going on here!

Kayla Jett

The Topeka Zoo was a wonderful zoo to visit! They had excellent exhibits and an amazing variety of animals. It was a great experience and was educational too. Thank you Topeka Zoo for a great time!

Ryan Rafferty

Great place! Wish there was more room for the larger animals to roam.

Jessica Burris

Always so clean. Inexpensive. Best park and train across the street/parking lot. And so much history there. A definite favorite childhood memory!

Dawn Long

My family and I spent the day here and had a wonderful time. Many animals to see, all of which looked well cared for. They currently fly have some animal babies as well’ While watching the turtles, one accidentally flipped on his back. I notified a staff member who came right over to help the little fellow. She then helped educate us about the turtles & how if they stay on their back to long they can suffocate. She was very knowledgeable & personable & is a retired Marine with many stories to share about spiders. She was a pleasure to talk with & def a great asset to this zoo. I noticed a note on the coyotes enclosure of how she is older & loud noises scare her. I found it very respectful that they notify the public so as not to hurt or frighten the animal :) We really enjoyed our visit and def recommend :)

S H

Super fun lots of actives to do around the zoo too.

Lin, Yu-chieh [Jay]

FREE!!! The zoo is not huge but has great selections. It’s well maintained and lots of detailed and educational design ma for kids.

Susana Valdovinos

Visiting the Zoo in the winter is beautiful! No crowds, no lines, excited residents who pay attention to the few visitors they have. A great time to really observe behaviors and characteristics of the animals. Try it, you will love it! Needless to say, there are closed exhibits and fewer animals to see.

Donna Garwood

Had a good night at Topeka Zoo Boos and Brews thanks to my son&in-law. Bryan Daugharthy.

Mary Drake

Great place to bring my grand children when they come to visit me from New Jersey. They recently did some remodeling and and it looks amazing.

Sarah Sanchez

Fun to walk through this zoo but I wish the animals had more room and space, especially the poor hippos.

Jacob Grigsby

Topeka zoo is a wonderful place to go and the recent updates are a fresh change...they need to do more updating to some of the exhibits that have been there and not changed for years.

Lenora Smith

We got there was closed they closed at 1 for some special VIP party or something I will go back again so I could go see the animals and enjoy myself

Dale Stegman

Roar! The lions like to roar in the evenings after zoo is closed. You can hear them in surrounding neighborhoods. Always gets me when the King is neighborly.

Michael Lee

Live animals with little stench. I want more diversity but they are informative. It appears to be a whole hearted effort at what they say they do.

Laurie Tyner

Fantastic small zoo! I have already been twice this year. The zookeepers are more than willing to chat, answer questions and point things out. I took my kindergarten class here for a field trip and also my daughter for her first birthday. What a great small zoo with amazing exhibits!

Darren Brubaker

We love all of the updates they have done to the Topeka Zoo! It is a great place to go with the kids if you gave a couple of hours to spend. The only negative was the bees. They have bee boxes setup by the elephants but the bees have ventured out into all of the surrounding trash cans and recycle bins. There is a few hundred bees moving around the area.

Woodie Parker

Keeps getting better every year @

Blair Hall

Great zoo. Lots of animals. Loved it!

Leah Henderson

Few of the exhibits were closed. Tried also feeding ducks but the feeders were not working. Coyote exhibit is horrible. Might as well let the poor animal go and not have one. I think the facility lacks upkeep. Was disappointed that it looks run down.

Tyler Korgol

It's a decent zoo. Just about the right size. Kids were happy.

Garion Holgate

A wonderful experience with interactive exhibits fun for the whole family.

Jon Bays-Broils

We just went to an after hours event at the zoo. We saw new exhibits, fed birds, petted small sharks, and the new monkees were great.

Wanda Mayfield

Thank you Gary for the honor of going to Topeka Zoo .It was Great !!!

LeontheArtistMusic

I think it's small and I'm a person so I bet the animals think it's small, however there are many programs in place to help expand the zoo, so maybe one day it won't be so small.

M TH

Loved all the improvements since our last visit! Only gave 4 stars due to continuing construction and the rainforest seeming run down

Brayden Moore

It's a good looking, smaller zoo. Great for small children that don't want to do a whole lot of walking.

Ethan Tidwell

Really, really fun local zoo. You can tell the staff truly do care about the animals.

Jared Oliver

Very nice visit today. Lot of animals were out today. Sonwe could see them. Loved it for the family.

Brian Hughes

This is a great zoo. Small, but that's okay... I really don't like zoos where you have to walk 20 miles (or pay for a bus/trolley). You can see it all in a day, and they have most species you want to see. Reasonable prices throughout, from admission to food to the very nice gift shop. There's even a nice playground in the public park across the street. Never seems to be too crowded, easy to navigate.

Amber Sanderson

It was nice the zoo is smaller which can be really nice I have toddlers its the perfect amount of walking before they are just done only thing is I kinda felt bad that the animals enclosures where so small other than that great time

Patricia Banks

even though it's a smaller zoo you get more interaction with the animals up front you don't have to walk a country mile to see them it was nice.

E. Wendy Wolf

Such a wonderful park in the middle of Topeka!

jon judd

Great experience in spite of the wet cool conditions. Good to be able to see most of the exhibits through the indoor areas. A must return.

Mike Siegrist

Great small zoo to enjoy an afternoon walking through

Angie Marie

I swear this zoo gets better each year. We have a membership, totally worth it. Can't wait for warm weather so we can go more often!

Shannon Brady

Probably best to go in the early spring or fall; maybe able to see more of the animals.

Nicole Cook

I feel bad for the animals. It's expensive small and there's not much to see. They live in tiny environments. Even food and drinks are overpriced. Ten dollar drinks and food.

Bridget McKinsey

This zoo is awesome. There are even babies and they are neat! Good place to take kids!

Jeanette Weiser

This was an interesting place to visit in the winter. Displays are aged, but informative. Enjoyed conversing with the zoo keepers. Some exhibits were closed (in December), and no privacy fencing between the road traffic. and animals

Adrian Hall

This is probably one of the worst zoo experiences I have ever had. It's not a one off type of occurrence. I have a horrible experience several times. The staff has been rude. The animals are hardly ever out. Just all around not a very good place.

Jen Swinehart

Beautiful animals. Well kept facility.

sean rutter

I love our zoo. It isn't the biggest zoo around but they are always making improvements and giving more relevant information on the state of animals of our planet.

Rick T. Moore

Nice place for our 5 and 4 year old boys to check out.

Sally Koelling

Loved the animals and how the animals were treated. Wonderful family.times spent here for years and it keeps getting better and better

Heather Schmidt

Loving our pass. So happy this is offered

Shannon Seniceros

Would Love to have seen more animals but all in all its an amazing zoo. Very convenient and nice. It doesn't take forever to get from one exhibit to another. Pretty flat and easy access. Beautiful park had a great time.

We came when they had cubs out day and it was a rainy day but still had a great time. Love how we can be so up close to see the animals. Kids loved the hippo. I loved the sloth. Everything was awesome

We Live Our Lives Stupid

Came here for my one year anniversary with my wife and son. Pretty cool variety of animals. I don't normally support the idea of zoos but this was pretty enjoyable.

Dan Strom

Nice visit, fee people and good amount of animals.

Too cold for some exhibits, but other than that it was a lot of fun. Had a great time.

Keith Bostwick

A childhood favorite. Still a great place to visit

Angela Watt

Beautiful! Not overly crowded so got to see everything! Especially loved the giraffes!

I would not recommend this zoo to the mobility challenged. There was a ramp with a handicap sign leading up to the bear enclosure. However, the grade was steep and a sign halfway up suggested that wheelchairs might want to turn around. I walked the rented electric cart to the top, only to encounter another sign warning that the grade down might be too steep as well. The zoo is not large and has few animals, but bears, orangutans, lions, and tigers are present. Large groups of children were enjoying the animals and displays, which were educational. Probably a zoo better for family outings with kids. There's a great park across from the entrance with lots for kids as well.

Always loved this zoo and still do! Well kept, lots of animals and the new additions are wonderful! Keeps getting better!
