REVIEWS OF Tanganyika Wildlife Park IN Kansas

Chris Bloomfield

We have traveled to 46 states, visited over one hundred and fifty museums, more than eighty National Park sites, countless zoos and attractions. Tanganyika Wildlife Park is the coolest thing we have seen! It is absolutely mind blowing that they let you interact with the animals. All zoos should model themselves after this place! We touched kangaroos, a rhino, a porcupine, a camel, tortoises, goats, and guinea pigs! The staff was friendly and informative. They took the time to answer all of our questions. We spent the entire day here from an hour after opening, till closing and we wished we would have showed up right at opening. The baby animals are super cute and adorable. This is a great facility and we will travel across the country to visit it again sometime in the future!

Boring.

Harmony Hill

The animals seemed so happy there. They had nice big enclosures, and they actually loved the attention that they got from the hands on activities you can do. I absolutely love animals, and to see them so happy, made me happy. Also the staff are super nice. They were kind to the animals and to the people there. I definitely recommend this place as a nice way to spend the day.

Amanda Holt

Love this zoo & the interactions!

Gustavo Coutin

Really clean, well laid out park. Very relaxing and setup well to slow down and watch the animals. Highly recommend.

Marcelo Linares

Very nice place to spend family time!!!! The only reason that I don't give 5 ⭐️is because prices are high.....

Rob Gilkerson

Great place to see and interact with animals that you don't see at larger zoos. The ly do a lot of breeding so they always have some sort of babies or little animals. The only drawback is since it is a private zoo get ready for a higher ticket price. They have a lot of interactions with animals ( more than most zoos), however they all have a cost associated.

Joe with brown hair & beard is at least 5'8 and is not a good worker. He rushed my family out of the lemur feeding with an annoyed and aggressive tone when we were barely in there. During our extremely short time in there, we asked him to take a picture of the children feeding the lemurs & based off his body language, he showed no effort or interest while doing so. He made the lemur feeding unenjoyable for the children as well as for the adults as viewers. Tanganyika wildlife park is a great place and we were having fun until our experience with Joe. I would've rated this place 5 stars but Joe who appears to be lazy and rude messed that up.

Clayton Handy

Personally I have been to better zoo's. This zoo isn't to bad of a zoo. I dislike how small it is, and every thing cost a lot of money to do. You get one token to feed the giraffe and you get one little thing of lettuce. Overall not a bad zoo, just seems a little expensive for it bein a small zoo.

Andy Pinzhoffer

What a wonderful experience. The park is built to be fairly open, which means in most cases the only thing separating you from the animals is a moat or large ditch. This gives the park a very open feel. They have a very wide assortment of animals including some beautiful tigers and a Lemur island where you can pay a few dollars to feed them. Some enclosures did seem a bit small for the animals and they could be seen visibly pacing, but most were very well designed. The employees were knowledgeable and noticeably cared about what they do and how the animals were treated. This place is worth the drive and every cent of the admission.

Christine Hood

Great time every time I go. Yes it costs extra to do most things but i don't mind spending money to support the park and help the animals.

Giddy Up Go

I loved this park. I come from Portlad, oregon and have seen that zoo many times. I loved how this park the animals were accessible.

Justin Smith

Overall it was pretty good. The price was a bit high, and the line was long. It was worth it though. My daughter loved petting the kangaroos and the alpacas. If you really want to enjoy all of the exhibits you have to be willing to pay for it.

Karyn Garcia

They are readonably priced. Getting to interact with animals is the best.

Megan Jensen

I love the animals, like ur feeding them, the sloth is so cute! I want to cuddle him so bad, penguins are kinda stinky but their still cute, when i was feeding a turtoise i got bit when i was trying to pick up the clip, but looks like he was hungry!

sandra rollins

I love this zoo, I've been to quite a few zoos and the animals don't seem nearly as happy as they do here, there's lots of stuff to do for children which is really fun. All the animals including lots of baby animals are great and there is so much hands on. If I lived closer I would have the year pass. It's worth every penny :)

I was disappointed that we bought the child all access pass for 34$; where your website states “ Includes 10 animal encounters with any combination of the following: Giraffe Feeding Lori Feeding Children's Zoo Feeding (bunnies, tortoises, guinea pigs) Lemur Feeding Pygmy Hippo Feeding (subject to availability) Indian Rhino Feeding (subject to availability) Camel Ride (subject to availability) PLUS you receive: Free digital copies of your experiences on Lemur Island and at the Camel Ride Free printed Souvenir Photo of your experience (1 per pass) Free Bonus Gift - Examples include exclusive trading badge, gemstone mining bag, etc.” Upon waiting in line for an hour at the camel encounter once we got to the worker who was very friendly said our bracelet was actually a fast pass bracelet- we were never told this at the gate? We were also never given the QR code for the photo? I asked the person at the camel rides about the photo and he said we didn’t have a chip. I’m disappointed that we paid the 34$ to still wait in line for an hour .... with no knowledge of the fast pass bracelet .... and not Receive the photos. Your website does need updated because at the gift shop we were told they no longer give the “free bonus gift” either ! I would like To say the man in the back of the gift shop gave us a “badge” because the website said that but they changed it now and they give a fast pass instead.

Daleen Ross

Great experience for the whole family, always a clean park, and the animal interaction makes it worth the (short) drive out of the city.

tim sullivan

Wonderful facility, awesome friendly staff, great food, reasonably priced, beautiful exhibits, amazing family friendly fun place to visit. Definitely must visit again

Morgan Jensen

This is an awesome zoo I would highly recommend this zoo!

Steven Barnes

I loved this place! Was a really great experience and the staff were super friendly!

Brianna Moss

I would not recommend this place. It’s very expensive to get in and not worth it. You only get one piece of lettuce to feed the giraffe and then you’re done. Only one piece of lettuce to feed the turtles and then you’re done. It’s all super quick and doesn’t seem worth the money at all. My 2 year old who got in free, wasn’t even allowed to feed the animals so he used my pieces of lettuce. So I wasn’t able to do anything. So stupid. We will not be going back!

Jacquelyn Bennett

We had a great experience here. Very fun and unique interactive concept. The park is very clean. Expect to wait in line some, but the exibits are well worth the short waits. I would recommend only purchasing the 5 interaction pass as we purchased the all inclusive pass and only ended up needing 5 stamps to experience everything. We were not disappointed though and didnt mind that we paid extra to help support the park, however, if youre on a budget the mid-priced tickets are sufficient.

Timothy Tribble

Great time for family.

Acrobot FPV

Took the wife and kids today and had a great time! It was our first time to this park and it was not a let down. All of the exhibits are laid out very nice which makes the park very easy to get around and avoid getting lost. The animal encounters were awesome!! Altogether a very beautiful place, with very cool animals. We will come again for sure!

Great

Justin Newell

Been a few years since I've been out and absolutely love how this place has grown.. So many cool exhibits and animals.

adam denton

if i could i would rate it 0 stars. A lot of people don't know what really goes on behind the scenes of this place. if i were to start anywhere it would be their vet med center uses expired medications for the animals. there is rust in many of their exhibits and contact yards (the usda deeply frowns on that). They house some non-human primates alone and away from contact with other non-human primates(that is borderline animal cruelty). They don't treat their animals or the humans working for them well at all). also do not support any zaa acredited facility. zaa accreditation promotes bad practices at dfferent facilities and should not be considered accredidation. STAY AWAY FROM THERE sources: usda inspection reports self inspection general knowlege about zoological facility accredidation work for association of zoo's and aquariums (aza) and worldwide association of zoo's and aquariums waza accreditted facility

This wildlife park beats any zoo hands down & I have seen many across the USA & Europe. Nowhere else will you be able to feed, touch, interact with the animals to the level you do here. Nowhere else have I seen the animals as happy, playful, acting natural as here. Instead of caging every animal the center has come up with other ways to enclose them which allows for observation in their “natural” habitat. This center is also all about preservation.

Shanna Marshall

I found out about Tanganyika Wildlife Park online and I had never heard of it before, despite living in Kansas my entire life. I was surprised to find a wildlife park that offered interactive encounters with animals, including petting and feeding certain species! This is not something you can do at any normal zoo and I was very excited to go. You can tour through it like a zoo, but also get to interact with certain animals, such as Kangaroos, Lorikeets, Giraffes, etc. as you go. You have to pay extra for the amount of animal encounters you want to have. They also have extra "Behind the Scenes Encounters" for even more unique experiences. You can reserve these in advance and get to spend your own time with certain animals without a crowd around. For example, we did the "Meet and Greet" with a Serval, a wild species of cat. Me and my family got to pet her and play with her for 30 minutes time with a zoo trainer facilitating the encounter. It was so cool and I never thought I would be able to have such a close encounter with a wild animal. We got to do something similar with penguins! Anyone who loves animals will love going to Tanganyika and getting to interact with animals you never would otherwise! Better than any zoo I've ever been to by far

Matt Hammer

Great place to take the kids, although its smaller than a big zoo it more than makes up for it with friendly staff, animal encounters where you get to feed certain animals, and being much less overcrowded.

Chris Mihok

Awesome Experience at TWP!! Surprize Giraffe Kisses from Isadora plus Seeing the (3) Babies, Loving on an Okapi that would rather be Caressed than fed, Massaging Charlie as he gives me my First Camel Ride, Rubbing a Rhino's Nose, Feeling Soft Bunnies Bigger than a Cat, Feeding Lemurs by Hand, Petting Kangaroos & Watching Baby Joeys Poke Out of Pouches...this is My Kind of Place!!! :) My Husband & I got the Encounter Passes plus Okapi Experience...& we especially Enjoyed the Behind-the-Scenes insights...& seeing where our Daughter is an Intern!! ALL of the young people seem Happy to be with the Animals, the Waterfalls Fountain & Grounds are Lovely, & the Snack Shop had Great Food for reasonable prices!! We could not find our TWP photo disk; however, called today & Heather located our Pix on their computer & e-mailed them to us--THANK YOU HEATHER!!! Great Staff/ Wonderful Hands-on Zoo!! :) Kimi & Chris

Alex MacKay

Had such an awesome time here with my family. It was way fun to interact with the animals and it also seemed like they were much more comfortable here than at a zoo. I would recommend a visit to anybody, regardless of age.

Samantha DeMont

we've been about once a year -- it's all we can afford. we've thought about getting a membership because we have one for the zoo and the kids really love the animals, but the main attraction here is the feedings and it just gets so expensive after going to each station. they used to give more craisins for the lemurs, but said they changed it because they were being fed too much. i remember the first year they were all fat and just lazing around and have since been much more active, but paying a dollar for one piece of craisin is way too high. this year i went with my son's preschool group. it was spring and mid-week so not crowded at all. after our tour we had snacks and went exploring. we were really disappointed to see a lot of the areas were closed off, and we had seen them open during our tour. there should have been better communication between the preschool staff and the park staff so we could have had more interaction with the animals. i think a lot of park staff didn't realize the kids were going to take a snack break and locked up their areas before we finished. overall: it's a fun place to go about once or twice a year, especially if you can go on a discounted rate [groupon anyone?]. best bet is to go in the morning when it's cooler and the animals are more active, and maybe on a weekend more things would be available. feedings are expensive, so if you plan to do that cut expenses elsewhere by bringing your own lunch and water.

Bri Graham

Awesome experience, the staff was super friendly and the interaction with the animals was great!

Bill Morrison

You get to feed and touch the animals. There is a camel ride you can take and they will email photos that they take of you.

Hall Anthony

I love the Tanganyika Wildlife Park. I take my kids there every Sunday.

trent johnson

Was a great experience for the hole family. Wonderful interactions with the animals and the staff. Worth spending the extra money to feed the animals. Will definitely revisit soon.

Christiana Treat

Beautiful and was amazing to feed a lot of different animals.

Waffles And_eclipsa

Great experience! Especially for the kids! Love how interactive it is. The kids had a blast feeding animals, touching and petting animals and riding camels. We were able to get ice cream novelties for everyone in our party at the concessions right by the playground area, and take a break during our visit which was much needed. If you're going during the hot months-plan on wearing hats, dressing cool, wearing comfortable shoes and bring plenty of bottled water. The park allows you to bring in your own snacks and drinks. We always do this wherever we go as we travel in a party of 6 and it gets quite expensive for snacks and treats. And the experience is always better than food. The park is smaller than what I envisioned or expected and compared to other zoo's and parks, but honestly it doesn't fall short in any area-there is a ton to do and see packed in ever area of the park. We enjoyed our time here and honestly felt that the animals were the best looking we've seen. They seemed happy and taken care of. Will definitely go again.

Terri McAllister

Our family loves Tanganyika. We got the the season pass this year and it was definitely worth it! We purchased the season pass for the whole family plus two feeder passes that are good for 5 interactions each, with the animals that they allow interactions with. The staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable. Just this last trip to the park we noticed that they also have cups you can buy for $15.00. They are good the whole season for unlimited drinks on any drink you like. This includes the slushes, smoothies and ice coffee drinks!

Lindsey Powers

My family purchased a season pass on their sale, which was AWESOME. We have been a few times and have loved each visit so much! There are so many things to see and do, so make sure to have plenty of time to visit! The animal encounters are so much fun. We will definitely be purchasing a 2020 season pass.

Morgan Hook

Always a wonderful place to visit! Highly recommend their origin tour or the sloth encounter, they are a once in a life time experience! Never seen so many baby cats!

J C

Get there early. Great place for the kids.

Eric Seals

Is a bit pricey but the interaction you get with tbe animals is great. Staff is awesome.

Dd Curtis

Use to be really great! My daughter always got so excited getting the wrist band to feed the animals. To learn they are taking away the wrist bands and going all electric is dumb. It takes twice as long to get through any lines. Because scanning everyone's phone takes forever. Throughout the week lines get super long because they do not have enough staff. So everyone in the park is all at one animal. I'm not sure I'll get a season pass again next year.

Candace Walters

A great place for families to go! Very cool place for kids and they love all of the animals!

Melody Everett

Loved the sloth Encounter. So awesome! Very helpful staff and knowledgeable. Pricey, but worth it!

Carla Sanderson

so much better than the county zoo. lot of thought has been put into this place in regards to the collection of animals and the effort made to show the importance of wildlife conservation. best way to describe this place is a boutique zoo - i mean how many places have okapis in their collection?!

Tylercandice Head

Best zoo ever! It was beautiful and clean, lots of hands on.

Annie Brown

It has become way more expensive then when you first opened, I payed 55.00 for 1 adult and 2 kids. Then getting snacks and a drink, I got 2 fries and a hotdog wanted 3 small drinks not big plastic cups I had to carry thru the zoo for 6.00 a piece and spent 34.00 total on that. Then I go back and they will not refill those cups at all you have to buy a 10 or 15 dollar cup for refills. You do not have enough animals in that zoo for it to be that expensive, and you used to let everyone enjoy feeding and touching the animals now you have to pay extra. Some of us are not rich but want are kids to be able to do what the other kids are doing!!! You try to explain to your kids oh you can't do what those kids are because we don't have much money!! I loved this zoo when you first opened it was a rare experience for everyone and it was fun!! Now you've made it just like everywhere else, you have to have so much money and it maybe 1 hour if walking very slow didn't even burn 5000 calories lol walking thru. Btw you don't have lions like some reviews say you do, we went to see hippos being fed at the time it said no one was there, and you get told not to pet the kangaroos if there in a group or by the fence which was both. Very disappointed a lot of money make sure you save up!!!

Sienna Douglas

Very fun. So many things to do . Feeding giraffes, lemurs and rabbits.

Donna Rickard

I really love this place!

Harrison

I am not a huge fan of zoos, but we had a great time at this place. The animals were super active and you could get really close to them. I only wish their was more educational information on each animal at their exhibits, and the map could use some work. Will be back!

Olson Kilmer

This is our family's favorite zoo. We don't even live in Kansas, but have been here probably 5 times. You really can get up close to the animals in a way that is safe and fun for the entire family.

Linda Tompkins Miller

Have 2 season passes and was well worth it. Fantastic zoo n fun.

Valerie Greathouse

Loved Tanganyika the staff were very friendly and helpful the interaction with the animals was very educational

Day Stover

My kids love being able to feed the animals and pet the kangaroos. It can be pricey but the season passes are definitely worth the money if you want to go a couple times

Shane Hendricks

We planned our trip to Wichita around this park. We had high hopes going in. We were not disappointed. This wildlife park was absolutely amazing. The staff and keepers were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. We spent extra to get the all access wristband, which allowed each person ten upclose interactions, two fast passes and a souvenir photo. It was worth it to get that type of experience. We hand fed lemurs, giraffes, tortoises, guinea pigs, rabbits, pygmy hippos, rhinoceros, and lorikeets. If your counting, that's eight, meaning you can do some experiences multiple times. With the exception of the hippo and the rhino, there were no set feeding times. They pride themselves on their breeding program, which has been very successful. We visited the first week of August and there were plenty of babies everywhere. The nursery is just beyond the gift shop and has large windows to observe all the cuteness. Many of the juvenile animals had been moved back to their enclosures. In the large giraffe exhibit there were at least six of varying age free to roam and two mothers with their young calves in the security of an enclosure and shelter in the rear, but still visible. I could go on and on about how amazing it was to get upclose and personal with the animals. In the kangaroo enclosure you can pet the kangaroos and that is just part of the regular admission. Not a gigantic zoo with a million animals. It is a small intimate wildlife park, where the animals seemed extremely happy and interactive.

Brenda Williams

I went with our assisted living residents they all enjoyed it one of them talked more than we have heard him do.

terry fortner

It was a wonderful adventure highly recommended

Lindsey W

Very fun and a great place

MR KNOW it SOME

Love this place. Very affordable and family oriented.

Danny Lawson

I have lived a few blocks away from TWP for the past 12 years and just this past weekend visited for the first time. Have I been missing out! I went with a friend and his kids/grandkids and everybody had a great time. The animals were interesting and appeared to be well cared for. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ability to touch and feed the animals (it does costs extra to feed, but the cost is fair price) was a terrific experience for everybody. Hard to pick a favorite. I bought a season pass for myself and I will be back! If you live out of town it is well worth the trip! Beware, it can be a little crowded on peak days and times! That said the park is big enough that it can easily handle a lot of people.

Natalie Wiens

Tanganyika is the best place in the Wichita area to have some fun! if you like interactive experiences than this is the place to go! You can tell that Tanganyika cares for their animals to a great extent and the knowledge of their staff is off the charts. Please go if you haven't!

Audrey Bates

Can't wait to go back with the entire family!! Best wildlife park experience ever!

R F

Took over an hour to get in. Parks really needs to work in the logistics at the front gate and not staff it with a teenager that was EXTREMELY slow processing ticket sales.

StarLord

Overpriced family of4 is almost $100. $10 for feed the lemurs. Scream at my 5 yrs old for being on the grass next to kangaroos. $2.50 for a can of pepsi. The animals all looks depress. Not too many exhibits. Sedgwick county zoo 200% wayyyy better and bigger. The staff at sedwick way more friendly. They dont act like police.

Jimmy TwoToes

Spent $100 + for season pass. I get it's a private zoo and all but when the staff began screaming at people for taking pictures of the lemurs from outside the enclosure you lost my support. I hope this place realizes it gets its money from us not the bloody animals....after reading the reply and not really remembering the day in question as well as getting multiple requests from my kids who love your park I'm grudgingly giving you guys 4 stars. Mostly for my kid's sake but you could explain the whole guidelines thing.

Thomas Wilson

They have white tigers, red kangaroos, and ring-tailed lemurs here!!! You can give the lemurs Craisins but it's kinda expensive to feed them. One of my favorite things about the park though is that there is an aviary where you carry a cup of sugar water and the birds rest on your arm and drink it up! One bad thing about the park is that there is hardly any shade on a hot day, so come early or on a cloudy day. Even so, this is an awesome park!!!

Charles Sheils

This is the most wonderful wild life sanctuary you will ever visit. have been there several times, can't wait to go back!

Gretchen Butts

Always fun! You can pet certain animals and sometimes they have some out of cages for you to interact with. You can also feed some of the animals and get into cages with guinea pigs and tortoise and rabbits. Great family place.

Chris Rawlings

I absolutely love this place!!!

Aaron Dashiell

Neat place. Clean and well kept. Horribly overpriced and literally can't get to snack bar on a busy day.

Randall Landzettel

My wife, boys (5 and 2), and I visited Tanganyika for the first time on Saturday afternoon 08/04. We have been to the zoo's in Kansas City, Wichita, and my wife has been to the San Diego zoo, and this facility surpasses all of those zoos by far! We purchased the wrist band to feed 5 animals of our choosing for all four of us. The giraffe feeding, lemur feeding, and camel rides were a lot of fun! The price was a bit high though, as were the prices in the gift shop and for drinks at the concession stand areas. All of the employees here though at each place were very personable! With some of the feedings though I wish they'd change the way kids are able to feed the animals, like with the Pygmy Hippos. My just turned 2 year old can't throw a carrot stick that far, and still they checked off his box for this, the carrot landed maybe a few inches in front of my son. Just a waste in my opinion. The camel rides were a lot of fun, but I think it'd be even more fun if there were 2 camels that way kids and parents alike aren't waiting for 20+ minutes to ride a camel for 2-3 minutes. I would definitely recommend to friends and family for sure, but I'd also like to see some changes and then I'd definitely be willing to pay the admission prices again.

Emily K

It's pretty expensive for what it is. You really don't need more than 2.5-3 hours or less to get through the whole park (depending on lines). Everything is extra - general admission only allows you to feed one animal and I felt that was misleading from what I knew about the park before attendance. You can't even photograph the lemurs without paying extra. All the extras were misleading. I think the zoo is better for the money, and we went when admission was 40% off. Feeding a giraffe was neat.

John Nicholas

This is a great place for kids, family and great fun. My wife and I attended the Twilight Tour last year and are going back this year. We had a great day with some great pictures of my dad on Father's Day 2010, going through the Park. He really enjoyed it. Glad I have those pictures now!

Mary Sendall

We did the origin experience with Rachel as our guide. She talked and walked us through the park from the beginning with Jim and Sherry Fouts until present. We were able to go back through the old barns and parts of the park that are normally restricted. We saw their warthogs who aren't normally on display. We were also able to see their black Male jaguar Oz and his mate Wicked. And we were introduced to their new lions Nemean, Valkyrie and Elliott-they call her Ellie. It was a great afternoon and well worth it. Rachel was a great guide and had so much information about the park and its background.

Dan Pierret

It's a great little wildlife collection. Great animal interaction. As it is not state funded, be prepared to pay a little more.

daniela Andrade

Awesome experience being able to interact with some animals. Nice staff

Dawn Long

We have been here a couple of times. My daughter loves it. The last time we went we got the pass that you can use to feed the animals. She loved that she could choose what animals she wanted to feed and could ride the camel more than once if she wanted to. There is a nice playground for the kids to play on while the adults take a breather under the covered patio. They do have a place to get coffee, other drinks and food. They allow you to bring in your own food and drinks too. The park isn't too large so you don't get too worn out walking around. While we were there we fed the rabbits, giraffe, guinea pigs, the hippo, the pretty birds and the lemurs. It is a very cool experience. The workers are very knowledgeable about the animals and their habitats. We will definitely be back here again.

Robin King

Good family fun!

Erik Dally

One of a kind experience!

Raven Buchanan

Wayy better than the big zoo !! Not as big but that's fine cause it be to hot out side to walk the big zoo this one is big but not as big. And some animals are not in cages. It's pretty cool and then you get to pet the kangaroos !! That was real fun and my babies enjoyed it besides the heat and another thing i liked they served beer but wish they served wine coolers or something like margaritas lol. And we even bought a cup and refills were 75 cents i thought was okay. I'd go back !

Ryan Austin

Beautiful park with great staff.

Dana Hendrickson

Wonderful place for all ages. My nephew and grandson loved the encounters, where you can feed the animals.

Sean Ettien

Got to feed a lemur a cranberry & pet a rhino. This place is awesome.

Game Wizard

The Wichita Metro area has 2 great zoos and this is one of them. The Sedgwick County Zoo, is the other one, of course. Lovely place. Get up close and personal with all the animals here. A great family experience.

Carla Ann Aldana

I am not sure I can say anything that has not already been stated. This is a family friendly very hands on Wildlife park that features multiple animals you can interact with and feed. We typically get an annual pass and go as often as we can when it is not too hot outside. Before we moved here and would visit once a year we would always make sure we came when Tanganyika would be open so we could visit!

Ron Tompkins

My wife and I have visited the zoo twice now and enjoy it more every time

Sandy Arnold

The occasion was our grand-daughter Kennedy's birthday party. It was our first visit and we were so impressed, especially with the small animal interactions, taught by one of the young employees there. Awesome !!

Stacy Bond

Overpriced to begin with and then it is extra to feed the animals one little piece of food! Wouldn't mind paying the entry price if it included the feeding of animals also. Not that big of selection of animals to see compared to the zoo. Only 2 places to get drinks and very long lines that take forever to get through!!

William Biles

Amazing experience!

Chris Bradshaw

Delightful little place that is quick, clean, and has a unique number of rare and endangered animals.

Amber Hock

Such a fun place for the whole family! The up close and personal experience with the animals sets Tanganyika apart from most other zoos. The staff is very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions about the animals. The park is small enough you can feasibly see it all in half a day, which makes it perfect for an outing with young children.

Joshua Fischer

It's been over 2 years since I've been for a visit. I couldn't wait to go. I talked it up so much to my girlfriend who has never been. Upon arrival it appears to be less maintained. The price was quite unreasonable. 66.00 for 2 people. This included 5 "experiences..feedings" a piece. The feedings were a joke.. 2 craisins a piece for lemurs, 2 1" pieces a lettuce for giraffes, etc. We left not even using all of our "experiences". Very disappointed to say the least. Save your $, go to the wichita zoo or OKC zoo.

Themoi Themoi

I thought it was WAY overpriced for what little you get to see. You would be better off spending your time and money at the Sedgwick County zoo as you will see a lot more for a lot less. I will not be returning ever again.

Hilary Louvar

Tanganyika is an incredible place to take the family or go on a date. The interactive attractions put it at the top of our annual list of things to do around Wichita. I even got to swim with the penguins for my birthday!! Worth every penny.

William Rust

Wonderful place. Had an up close and personal experience with an okapi. Price was quite reasonable. People were knowledgeable and very friendly.

Edgar Jaime

Awesome place to take the kiddos !!!

kris wayman

Had a wonderful time at this facility. It is apparent these animals are well fed, healthy and clean and are well taken care of. Everyone very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our visit as we are all animal lovers. Will be planing another visit in the future. This is a beautiful, well maintained park and worth the visit!

Brittinie Alvarez

Nice facilities, friendly staff, cute very exotic animals with interactive stations! Small but very enjoyable! <3

a casual

Fun little wildlife park. Kinda small but very fun, rare animals like white tigers I would rather go here then Sedgick County Zoo. I hope I can come back some time.

Tanganyika is one of the most enjoyable boutique zoos you can visit. The owners of this zoo have put a lot of time and effort into showcasing a world class collection of animals. The snow leopards are gorgeous and the okapis are exquisite. It is nice to see a privately run zoo with no state or federal dollars put on an educational experience like Tanganyika. If there is one thing I know, it is quality zoos and this is one of my favorites in the U.S.

Michael O'Crowley

Really fun place to take the kids. But the honey badger don't care.

Kelsey Crider

Very nice zoo! The layout it awesome! Much better than SCZ. The staff is friendly. Sure it may be a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it! Clean restrooms, nicely kept picnic areas, knowledgeable keepers. The playground is awesome too! Great place to take the family!

Kellie Staples

This an awesome park! I loved all the animal encounters! Only down side was the in the lemur exhibit, they don’t allow you to take pictures and their photographer wasn’t very good.. so go a few times ;) Still really awesome to be able to feed them! I enjoyed it all!

Elizabeth Van Alstine

This was such an unforgettable experience! the feeding and the interaction that you get with all the animals is well worth the trip. Price is a little bit more than your average zoo but that is to be expected. The Lemur's were hands down my favorite part, they climb right into your lap!

Nicholas Jasmine

Wonderful place, you get to pet many animals. This place is big enough for you to spend all day there. Recommend this zoo to anybody.

Ashley Davis

We went on a pretty cold day. There were not a lot of people there, but most of the animals were still out. You definitely get to see the animals up close and personal which was nice. The park in general is small, but it's well maintained. We paid for the general admission which includes only one encounter. I would recommend asking what animals are available for encounters before deciding which option to purchase. The people before us in line purchased the 10 encounter pass and there was no way there was 10 encounters available for them. The only options we had were to feed the giraffe or the bunnies. The lemur's were not out to take the pictures while we were there either. The tiger demonstration was awesome to see, but the keeper was about 15 minutes late to it. They just in general seemed to not really have it together that day. We did have a lot of fun but it was more of a walk around and see the animals, not so much encounter them as seems to be advertised.

What a unique experience. It's a zoo of sorts, but much better if you want to get up close with animals. All the staff we encountered were super friendly, explaining everything about the animals and the park in general. It's small and compact and great for younger kids especially. You can feed and pet a number of animals which is pretty cool. Pricing may seem high, but without "public" support it's going to be (in this way it's not like a typical zoo).

Chris B

I have been here several times now, and every visit has been fantastic. My last trip was on Mother's day. The keepers had numerous animals out that you could interact with. The most memorable was getting the chance to pet a Serval and a Honey Badger, in addition to the usual "petting" areas.

First: my family goes to a lot of zoos. Second: Tanganyika is about twice as expensive as most other zoos we go to. Third: it isn't a big zoo by any means, but I wouldn't say it was tiny, either. What it does offer is excellent animals. They had a number of animals we hadn't seen at other zoos (ones like the honey badgers that my sons love watching nature documentaries about). The animals all seemed healthy, clean and active. The zoo itself was also clean and well maintained. The baby animals were an unexpected surprise. There was only a few herps, and no insect exhibits, which is a shame but to be expected. The staff was courteous and we didn't encounter any of the rudeness others reported. A staff member even stopped to take a picture for us! The encounters are a big differentiation between Tanganyika and other zoos. These were a mixed bag of excellent to uninspired. Feeding the pygmy hippo, giraffes, Lemurs and lorikeets was a ton of fun and worth doing. My son really liked the camel ride. Feeding the tortoises, rabbits and guinea pigs was pretty standard petting zoo stuff, but you get two feedings per encounter credit. They also have quarter machines for feeding Alpacas, goats and Koi, which are very common, but fun for kids. There were also free encounters, such as petting kangaroo and a keeper brought along a hedgehog for us to pet. Almost all animals were on display, but some were so far off you couldn't really see them (gazelles, okapi) while most others you could get much closer than other zoos. We'll have to go again later, as their rhino was new and not ready to be fed yet, but was on display. If you want to save some money, they were fine with us getting a 5 encounter bracelet for our oldest son and just single encounters for the rest of us. It was still about twice what a normal zoo would cost us, but we spent 4 hours and had a great time with some unique experiences, and we plan to go again.

Great place, friendly animals, and well trained staff. THEY EVEN HAD AN ALBINO ALLIGATOR!! Exciting place overall

Jennifer orvis

Pretty sad they discriminated against an individual with disabilities. My friend had a service dog.. registered and all. It was a dog used for seizures. They tried to tell my friend they didn’t have to allow access to her service animal. This is against the ADA Laws. I get it, it’s a zoo, but the dog met all requirements , and had proper registration information. I’m very disappointed!!!

ME !

Its pricey, some of the enclosures seemed on the small side (to me, who has no expertise), the park itself isn't huge, the interactive bits all cost money. Having said that, everyone should go at least once. Everyone should should feed the lemurs and the lorikeets. Everyone should pet a kangaroo (that's actually included in the price of admission). Going on a weekday, when there were few people there, was WONDERFUL. We went in the afternoon, so a lot of the animals were hot and tired (as were we), and I would go earlier in the morning if I did it again. However, all the animals for the paid encounters were alert and ready for treats. And while I'm sure we would have used all ten encounters had we bought them, five was definitively enough for us

Tanganyika wildlife park is a great place love the animals there I know the on that does the landscape there his name is Brandon Norman

Lucinda Gates

I bought a season pass and a guest pass when they were on an amazing sale at the beginning of the season - it's a great place to take a nephew, an adult friend, or best friend to go see the animals. I like it that my friend's wheelchair can go everywhere! I encourage spending your quarters, to get the pellets of food to feed the goats, and animals and fish - cause its privately owned, and uses the money you spend into runnig the wildlife park. Just know that I suggest going on a beautiful day instead of a boiling hot day, because everything is outdoors! (And the penguins cove building is stuffy and humid, so don't think you are getting any cool air-conditioning anywhere!)

Mist Passiert

Imagine an interactive zoo experience and you have a very basic idea of what it's like to visit Tanganyika. It's a great place to visit with family, especially children, as many of the interactive experiences are tailored to children ages 3+. They can feed rabbits, turtles, Guinea pigs, and other friendly animals. My kids especially love the lorikeet feeding. They have many animals that you won't see at the Sedgwick County Zoo. If you're considering going more than a couple of times in the season, I highly recommend a family pass.

Cherish Local

Created a great day of memories for my family. Really great time.

Melissa Ferguson

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The sloth encounter and behind the scenes is very educational and worth every dollar. There is so much to see and had a day full of fun!

Megan Rose

Was very excited to come here! Drove 12 hours just to visit this zoo and I loved all of it. $40 all access is not bad at all for us spending close to 4 hours here. We also did a backstage penguin tour, which I highly recommend as long as you can handle the smell of animals! Loved how interactive it is and how many different species there are. Also: Humane Certified !!! Yay!!!!

BB

Its not a zoo, it is indeed more of a park where you get a chance to feed and pet animals like Rabbit, Tortoise, Giraffe, goat, lemur, llama, rhino and many more. Camel ride is another highlight. Kids are definitely gonna love this place. Staffs are very nice and caring. Our kids had a wonderful time. You can bring your food and have it there. Food and snacks are available to buy as well.

Joshua Girdner

We had a blast. It was very pricey. In the future we will come and get two general admission, and give those tokens for our daughter to use so she gets four instead of the 5. But it's a great time, the animals are neat. We really enjoyed the giraffe feeding as well as the lemurs. The lorikeets were a blast. We had a good time!

Shelsea Terrones

Always a fun day trip, family friendly fun all around!!

Justin Tidwell

My family and I had a great time at the park, will definitely go back. Was a little pricey, but the extra cost was well worth the extra money. Not like a regular zoo where you are separated by big fences, you are up close with the animals there. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeably. Great place to spend the day with the family!!!

julie moore

We went there yesterday and it was a really good time! I loved how you can have animal encounters; such as feeding quite a few animals and a camel ride. The park was also laid out very well. We saw all the animals and we never got lost or went in circles like most zoos have you do. We spent 3-4 hours there. We will definitely return and recommend people going there.

Gloria Timberlake

Best place to take your kids in the Wichita area. They get to feed animals and they also have a nice playground area.

Kelvin JS

Season passes make it much more affordable, I got mine for 20$ each. The feedings do cost money but not too bad and it is more for children, but every one should do it once. I like the times when the keepers are feeding or moving some of the animals and you can ask questions and learn about the animals. It is a little small and the events are limited. Private funding is why it cost a little more. The passes I got are at the early part of the year.

Josh Brabb

Great place. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Very clean park with healthy and active animals. Lots of hands on activities for kids to do. You can even swim with the penguins if you want to pay for it. Entire family loves to visit here.

Sarah Graber

Coming from San Diego (world top zoo) we were SOOO IMPRESSED! Absolutely loved it and fun. Upgrade to all access, well worth it. For those stating "it's pricey" are out of your mind!!! Compare to other zoos this was cheap. For all that we got to do (feeding the lemurs was a top) it would have cost up to $500 back home, and that's just feeding one animal. Here you got multiple. Extremely reasonable prices for what you're getting here and looking forward to our next visit with more family to share with. Most of the staff were young and very friendly, helpful. So many amazing shots captured with camera. Can't wait to print a photo book with this adventure. The ambience was beautiful, green and easy to walk. The closeness of the animals was crazy cool! The feedings was the best. Missed out on the hippo and rhino, keeping fingers cross we get to do it next year. Not funding by government, spend your money here for a very great cause!

Josh Pearce

Overpriced and waited in line for 90% of our time. Good concept, very poor execution.

Renee Wray

Love this place!

Joe

Such a great place. Small, but EVERYTHING can be seen close up. Can feed several animals (lemur, rhino, hippo, tortoise). So cool. You can pet kangaroos! My kids LOVED this place. Maybe even as much as me :)

Bonita Coronado

This park is never a disappointment. It is a little more pricey than the county zoo, but a season pass pays for itself after just a few visits. The park is clean and well manicured, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. But best of all, the animals are lively and interactive. I have never been to a zoo with so much activity! It is a gorgeous, unique experience and I recommend it for everyone!

Daniel Asher

Great interactive zoo!!

Brittany Jones-Jeffries

Always a great time! We went 7/20/18 for my sons first birthday and it was wonderful! The staff was so friendly and welcoming! It was a wonderful morning spent with the animals and the staff at Tanganika and I will recommend them to everyone! They made a really special day even more special and I will be forever grateful!

Chelia Basquez

We spent a lovely day here. We enjoyed feeding the animals and seeing our nephew interact with the animals. He loved feeding the lemurs and the birds. We also loved that it was not packed on opening day this year. The season passes are the way to go. We will be back time and time again. Even those the alpaca spit in my face... lol... you can't control what animals do when you are up close and personal with them. It was amazing! Thank you Tanganyika for memories that will last a life time.

Victoria Rimmey

We came from out of town for the okapi behind the scenes tour and it was such a once in a lifetime opportunity. All of the staff were incredibly nice and knowledgable. We had a single small issue (photos had not uploaded from the behind the scenes tour), and they went the extra mile to handle it immediately. Our 3 year old had a blast with all of the animal encounters, and it seemed like they were really structured to be both fun and safe for the animals. It is a little pricey but definitely worth it for a very fun splurge!

Kristina Myers

Bring your own water!! 3.00 a bottle is pretty outrageous!! But otherwise fun! Its just the right size for families with small kids!

ice9000 bae

Fun! Way better than Sedgwick county zoo! Would go again if i could!

Kelly Peters

This place is amazing! The Fouts family actually built their zoo! It has a wonderful personal feeling about it and you can see their love for the preservation of animals.

Jeremy anthis

The park itself is amazing, very open and kid friendly. The only bad things are; it took 20min to get tickets and into the park they only have one cashier on a Saturday. Also they only have two concession stands. The need to innovate and steam line the process to pay for tickets. Other than that it's a great experience.

Isaac Nelson

Great zoo for the family, we love how hands-on it is. We'd love to go more often, but its so expensive.

Jessica Pruitt

Awesome place to visit for young and old alike. Staff very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Worth every penny.

Shruthi A

Kinda like a zoo, only a little different. Staff are knowledgeable. But entry is way too expensive at $14 (plus tax) for anyone over 3. And $2 for one chance at feeding! They give just one teeny piece of cranberry for the lemurs which eat it up and scurry away before we have a chance to click a picture. No second chance! We felt utterly cheated. And the camel ride is $5 per person! Few animals (compared to any zoo that is). Lots of sections were closed. Its open 9 to 5 and there is nothing to see beyond a couple of hours. There are a few shelters where you can eat your lunch. They've added a few decorative ponds, flower patches and small waterfalls. The children's play area is just one giant slide structure, which was quite enjoyable for my 3-yr old. In summary the only unique feature this place boasts of is interacting with and feeding the animals. And boy do they cash in on that! Overall an ok place to spend a quiet sunday. I don't think I'll visit again.

Erica Florez

My 6 year old loved this place! He said he would give it 6,000 stars! He had the encounter pass and was able to interact with 5 animals.

Yaya Romero

Excellent!! Had a great time :)

Melanie Ann

My kids have visited multiple times and always come back with new stories. Volunteers are friendly and helpful. Worth a visit!

Nugget Wolf

GOOD for its price. Maybe not even good, It was amazing. The white tiger was so nice. Recommended zoo if you can go.

April Cohagen

What a wonderful place.

marcus Matias

A lot of different animals , food is disgusting and high price but overall it's a nice place to visit to see the animals

Ginny Baysden

Not a huge zoo, but one of the best we have visited. It is outstanding if you want to see animals up close and actually interact with them. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the park is extremely clean. A great experience, especially for families. I hope we can return sometime.

Blake Beard

Great place to visit and very enjoyable experience for the whole family!

Natasha McNutt

A beautiful zoo with wonderful interaction opportunities.

Sandy Marvel

We went yesterday. The park is very clean, well laid out and the staff is friendly. We did the full experience pass plus our kids did the behind the scenes sloth experience. It is way overpriced. The full package experience is promoted as ten encounters plus unlimited digital pics and one free print. There are only 9 possible encounters to begin with (but it was explained you can just repeat one if you want) and was only one animal stop that had someone taking pics with an I Pad and we were told we had to ask them to do it. There was no one else at any of the encounters that we found taking pictures and if we were suppose to ask no one told us. Most of the encounters were like feeding a rabbit lettuce etc. I feel like the advertising is misleading. If we go again I think the 5 encounter pass would be sufficient as the giraffe feeding was really the only one that was much of anything. The “camel ride” was a very very small loop around once. The Sloth Encounter just wasn’t worth $50 per kid. In fairness it says its only for 10-15 minutes on the website but just know for the animals sake (from what my kids understood) they can’t hold the sloth. They each got to bet it for a brief moment and feed it a couple of slices of food. I am very frustrated that we paid that amount and parents can’t go in to watch or to take pics. We were told they would take pics (and we could watch thru a window). The “photos” were just snapshots from one of the volunteers cell phones. The were super grainy and not one was a nice pic. They were snapshots. I expected at least one souvenir quality. I was also disappointed in the behavior of some of the younger volunteers who seemed to be running some sort of day camp there. We were taking a break at the concessions and they were being extremely obnoxious and chasing each other and the camp kids around inside the concession area and around the sidewalks. We had my 14 month old nephews with us and I was with him on the sidewalk when several of then cut in front of him and clearly did not see him yelling running after one of the camp kids horsing around. Other than that - it is peaceful there. The animals seem very well taken care of and any gift shop or concession items were very fairly priced.

I am so disappointed that I have not visited Tanganyika Wildlife Park until now. What have I been waiting for? This place is tremendous! It must be a labor of love running a private zoo and Tanganyika management does a winning job. I pushed my friend, and elderly lady in a wheelchair, all over the handicapped friendly park. Kangaroos, Rhinos, Giraffes, Lemurs are just a few of the critters you can get hands on with and feed. The zoo keepers are college educated and are experts in their fields. If you go, you will never forget getting close to these beautiful animals.

Melanie Kerr

So fun! Up close with animals! Small and cozy. Expensive!
