This Zoo belongs to the category of Zoo.
We're lucky to have one of the best zoos in the Midwest. Everytime I take a relative or friend from out of town, they are very impressed with the zoo. I absolutely love taking my daughter to the Sedgwick County Zoo. Her favorite area is the farm animal exhibits, and she loves feeding the goats. My favorite exhibits are the elephants, tigers, bald eagles, and bison
A great place. One of the better zoos out there. It's a little slow as of right now as they are undergoing massive renovations on most all enclosures but still amazing overall. Plan to spend 5 or 6 hours if you truly want to see everything without a rush.
The public/walking grounds of the zoo were clean and well maintained. The animals seemed well taken care of and the enclosures were all well landscaped and clean. We dropped a child’s small blanket while in the reptile exhibit, and by the time we realized it the blanket had already been brought to the lost and found. So thankful!
I've lived in Wichita-Sedgwick County most of my life, Our Zoo here is totally awesum. My 3rd visit since 1973. It has truly expanded and each time something new is on display or been added.
Wonderful zoo! Exhibits are very well done. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly reccomend visiting the zoo when in Wichita.
Pretty great zoo! Some construction happening when we went, prevented us from seeing the wolves, but the amazing bird enclosure made the whole trip worth while. Hot tip: bring quarters to buy feed at the multiple chances to do so and don't wear delicious looking skirts into the goat enclosure.
Scenery is nice but a lot of the animals don't seem happy and or are in poor condition of health. Many habitats arent realistic and livable in size at all. Lots of depressed looking animals..
It was very fun just super large hard to walk and see everything and it's easy to get lost or go in circles
Still one of the coolest zoos I have ever been to. The elephant enclosure and the gorilla exhibit are really cool. This place is great for a day out with the family
Love the zoo. Clean. Great staff. Great way to spend the day.
This is a place I can make a day out of. The keepers are so kind and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the elephants there. Their space is such a huge improvement and they are always finding ways to make this place better. I love the giraffe feeding station! The bistro has great food for lunch. We love the tropics area where you can get up close and personal with the birds, if you have time go there when they feed them it's a treat. Their is also a boat tour now, which is pretty cool. I have never felt too crowded here, which makes it fun and it is so informational for the kids.
I have been spoiled with the best zoos in the world but this zoo is very good. The elephant and tiger displays are great. Make sure to go on the boat ride.
It was great. Just wish it hadn't been so hot. Where are the misters? Skip the boat ride. It's 5-6 minutes for $4.00 (literally took longer to wait for it than it did for the ride itself).
This zoo has a great layout. The gorilla exhibit is a family favorite....we were able to see the babies the last time we were there (5/19). The new elephant exhibit is amazing! So worth the trip!
Beautiful place. Lots of different things to see. Unfortunately they had half of the exhibits closed off so we didn't get to see much of anything when we went. Makes me not want to spend money to go again with half of the exhibits closed off.
This place is wonderful! I love the way it is laid out, we didn’t have to walk as much as the San Antonio or San Diego zoos. It has large enclosures and you can still see the animals. Plus there are several areas you go through metal doors and the animals are just wandering freely in the area. My kids were pretty excited to see a wallaby a couple feet away! The local internet provider had a coupon for us to get in for $3 a person on Tuesdays and the zoo stayed open late. It was great! I highly recommend this zoo. We spent five hours and didn’t quite see everything.
A little worn around the edges, but the animals seemed content and happy. Great for small children as long as you have a stroller or rent one - a lot of walking. The exhibits have oasis buildings with air conditioning throughout so you can take a break from the heat every so often. Cost of entry is reasonable.
Amazing animals great kept animals and grounds Wide variety of animals well laid out for families with rest stops and play grounds LOVE to visit here every time we are in town
Several exhibits were closed when we went, but overall it was a very nice zoo. The bird exhibit was neat, you walk around inside the cage with all the birds. Would recommend.
We love the zoo! It's always changing in summer little way and they have time of events to entertain people of all ages. We get a membership every year, it's well worth the price!
Absolute must visit. Gorgeous enclosures, great staff, well cared for animals. Plan to spend a good 3 to 4 hours to see it all!
Great place to go with the kids! I love all the things they do to educate people about the endangered species and what to do to help protecting them. It was nice to know they are not a profit organization and that they are associated to many conservationists groups. We loved it!
This was an amazing zoo! There were a few exhibits that were closed but way many more that were open. It was a nice warm day and a bunch of the larger animals were napping or hiding in the shade. They have fair prices on their food and drinks. I wish there was a change machine near the feeding machines. I'd have liked to fed the fish and the goats but all I had was paper money and cards. I'll be coming back next time I'm in town!
First class. So much to see. Restaurant has improved with good food and decent prices for a zoo
We were visiting Kansas for bowling and decided to visit the zoo. What s great surprise! The elephant and orangutan exhibits were entertaining. We also met Steve with guest services and he spoke to us a couple times and gave us good advice on how to view the zoo. Before we left, we ran into Steve again and he gave us restaurant recommendations that have been spot on. We really appreciated his advice on how to view Witchta outside of the tourist guides. Thank you Steve! Our best, the Oregon Girls.
Really enjoyed it, just wish the leppard and lions had more roaming space. The rest of the items were really enjoyable to see the animals. And great stop places to get the kiddos some refreshments. LOVE the indoor jungle / tropical area and the Safari look and attractions and different theme for different areas where animals that were from.
A great place to visit with family and friends. You are able to bring your own food and drinks in but the concessions are good as well. They host many events. My boyfriend and I love the Flocktail events. Also a great place to volunteer your free time with helping out!
We had fun but we didnt see quite a few animals due to exhibits being closed. For the price you pay you kind of want to see them all. But the animals were active and the kids had fun.
This is a nice zoo for the entire family. Lots of great exhibits, the elephants were my personal favorite. I did find this ugly looking spider who I am sure feels right home at the zoo
Fabulous zoo! There is so much to do and look at. Refreshment areas are appropriately placed for timely breaks. I love the interactive and informational stations throughout. We always have a fun time!
I've been coming here for as long as I can remember and it never ceases to amaze! The place is always well kept, the animals look happy, their enclosures are clean and the staff is nice. There's plenty of places to sit in the shade on those hot days; plus the concessions are a refreshing site with much to offer for a modest price. The Zoo has plenty of indoor exhibits as well, such as the rainforest exhibit, reptile house, orangutan/chimpanzees and Gorillas. I will never stop coming here and will forever recommend this Zoo to anyone who asks.
Seriously one of the best zoo's in the nation. The animal exhibits are beautiful. You can easily spend an entire day exploring all there is too see. Kid's Strollers are welcome and adult mobility scooters are available to rent if needed.
Absolutely love this zoo. So many animals to see, different places labeled as different continents so you experience animals from all over the world. Easy to navigate around and very fun for families.
One of the best zoo's i've been to. They treat the animals very well as their habitats are far bigger than most zoos, we really love that. Beautiful foliage, great staff.
It would have been better if it wasn't so hot and muggy that half of the animals were hiding in the shade. Always love going to the zoo. Plenty of shade and places to sit and rest. Even the fish said it was hot by hiding under the bridges.
SCZ is one of the best in the nation. And I am a little biased as a member. But they have the cutest American Bison calf a week old! Great way to spend time with family
I've been too many zoos all over the country and have to say this is one of the better zoos I've been to. They have such great animal exhibits and interactive time with the keepers. My favorite exhibit has to be the tiger exhibit and how beautifully it is laid out. My husband particularly enjoys the prairie dog exhibit. The new elephant exhibit with waterfall is definitely a sight to see. My only spot for improvement would be for them to upgrade their food court. Definitely be prepared to spend most of the day here if you want to see all the exhibits. Great for small children as well.
the zoo was great!!! well marked. nice clean place to eat. really cool exhibits. will go back when i have more time, had a flight out today, was on a time limit.
One of the best zoo's in the country. We have friends from Kansas City area who make the three plus hour trek - just to visit for a day! My two year old cannot get enough of the lions and tigers! The new elephant exhibit is hand over hand better than the previous. Worth it. And more, to get your membership if your an hour drive!
Really enjoyed the Sedgwick county zoo ..for the first time ever they had a "first responders day" it was free for cops..firemen..Ems ..it was so thoughtful & appreciated..the zoo itself is very nice & has animals from all over the world..going back again this weekend
A little cool weather today wise a real nice zoo the animals were in great shape they looked well fed and the habitats were quite large . The people who work there are friendly and attentive, the grounds are very clean and well maintained. This was our third visit here and there are always new improvements. Bring lots of quarters to feed the food feeders because you can walk around a open area with the deer and they will eat out of your hand.
One of the best zoos I have had the pleasure to visit. Baby Oranatangs and Gorillas are adorable and the Elephant exhibit is huge.
Had a great time. A lot of construction right now, but still able to see most of the animals. Can't wait to see the finish results of the new looks.
Very nice zoo! We got thru it all in about 4 hours....with out stopping and eating.
This time was for the $3 Tuesdays in July promotion, absolutely LOVE when the Zoo offers these deals as well as stays open later so I can come after work and see more animals active.
Always something for the kids to see, that lights up their eyes. Great family place.
All in all good fun, there is a little construction going on right now but don't let that stop you
Love going to our zoo. Like to seey favorite, the elephants. This is a great zoo and one of the top ones. I wish they had a day for adults only or senior citizens only. Without kids. And also a camping night for adults only, too.
The Sedgwick County Zoo is a great place to spend a day, with or without kids. I recommend getting a membership because after you've gone a couple of times it's paid for. The zoo staff is informative and polite and the zoo is always very well maintained and clean. The Elephant exhibit is one of the best I've seen. Every exhibit is spaced apart well but never too far where you think you're just walking to nothing. I love the North American Barn and all the baby goats and cows. The Tropics and Australian bird exhibits are among my favorites as well. I come back often and regularly all year with my family. They just keep improving the zoo year after year! Highly recommended.
Out of all the zoos I have been to I love our Sedgwick County Zoo!! The staff is very friendly, very informative, and I feel the animals at least have an appropriate amount of space for them to actually enjoy. Not like other zoos where it’s a cramped up and the animals don’t get much movement. It’s a fairly large zoo, and worth going to. You won’t regret going to it.
Electric scooters available for rent. Makes getting around much easier for disabled/elderly.
Lots of shaded walking paths. We went at 230 on a Tuesday and had the place to ourselves!
We have one of the best zoos I've ever been to. Great exhibits, clean bathrooms, and paths to animals are clearly marked. The only thing I marked them down on was for size of groups at demonstrations for schools. Ex. There little pigs at owls nest only had 4 benches and 7 kids on a bench that had to share 1 bucket which made it hard for all to participate. Other than that I always enjoy visiting!
Weather was great and it seems they are always adding exhibits or upgrading old ones
Great place! So many animals and they are usually always out! Friendly staff, prices are to expect when buying concessions. Ticket prices are a little pricey.
Great exhibits, conservation and breeding programs to put some animals back in the wild. Tram to ride, designated smoking areas, lots of food station, refill your bottle or cups with filtered water. Great for young and old.
We had a super fun time at Fire Prevention Day!! The fireman were fantastic!
Went for the Credit union of America member appreciation night. Family had a blast!
food was over priced and not very good zoo was great just bring snacks
Great amount of animals from other continents! Beautiful exhibits but so much Kansas greens weeds or greenery is too much. On the other hand watching the elephants and trainers work together up close was very awesome!
I love my Zoo! Expanding exhibits, good price for a family excursion. Variety of animals, and friendly staff make this a "must see". Food and drink readily available. Accommodations for wheelchairs.
Such a fantastic and beautiful zoo. They have over 400 species and they all seem well cared for. It's a huge zoo! Takes over 3 hours to see everything!
This is one of my favorite zoos! It is always very clean! The love all the new exhibits. It's been great watching the zoo grow over the years. Can't wait to come back!
I had a great time with my husband daughter and grandkids. All of the animals were asleep though. It was quite humid though. I suggest going around 1:00 around lunchtime when they're ready to eat. More activity around that time.
My daughters first visit to the zoo. She loved it.
I would have liked to see more animals. The greenery was so high we couldn't see the animals.
Ape awareness weekend, a GREAT DAY at the zoo. Plenty of indoor exhibits to cool off, even some outdoor water showers to help cool off. GREAT family fun! Good memories to be made!
Very clean nice zoo. Small enough to see everything, but big enough that there is a lot to see. I especially appreciated that the gift shop had things for a variety of price points. I was able to get my child something without spending more then $5.00.
Sedgwick County Zoo is awesome! The exhibits of the Zoo are very well done! They transform you into the animal's habitat. The buildings are done up that way also . Just to give you that sense of being in the middle of the jungle atmosphere! Loved it all! Thank you!
We got there at 9 am and left at 3:30. So we had a long day at the zoo! Had a great time with my family. Only thing we did not like was.... There was a lot of attractions closed. Animals nowhere to be seen or around for that matter. We would walk to a area that was closed or the animals were put away due to maintenance. If that's the case, put a sign up at the entrance of that attraction. That would have been less whining I had to hear from my kids!! Did not understand the fact all the water areas were closed. It was hot, kids would have loved to get sprinkled on to cool off some. All the main things we wanted to see was a let down. So for me to pay the amount I paid for 5 kids and 2 adults, I'm not happy with it. Was not worth my money.
The best Zoo in Kansas!! So many levels of beauty! Quality of life for the animals are so important and it shows at this Zoo. Family memories made each time we visit!
Great zoo. Well maintained, very informative, clean facility. The zoo is set up for the best possible experience to see the animals.
For Kansas this Zoo has it all. Lots of space to wonder in and there are certain areas where you are in contact with the animals. And I will definitely be returning!
Very well kept zoo. Enjoyed our visit. So awesome they do the $3 Tuesdays in July.
Overall good place to take a stroll and see all the animals they have on display. My kids enjoy going and it's a great option for when schools go on fieldtrips. I've really only have ever been in summertime and it is pretty hot. They do have several spots to cool off at as well as several bathrooms throughout the place. They have built several new showcases and even a playground for kids. Id give it 5 stars if there was more variety of animals but overall a pretty nice Zoo for a small city.
A very nice zoo, clean not to crowded. Lots of Animals. Reasonable price, lots of walking, there is a tram that goes around the park and it is free. Good petting zoo for kids. Hot dogs and pizza is about all there is to eat, water and soda with some fruit punch are your drink choices
This zoo is awesome. My kids love going here and I've enjoyed going here since I was a kid.
Love the variety and amount of exhibits the zoo has! They offer alot of opportunities for education with different videos and audio. They also offer a good selection of food and drinks! A great place to go for a full day of family fun!
Some of the animals were cool to see, but some were sad. It was 84 degrees out, and the sun felt pretty hot, luckily you can chase shady spots here. But watch out for wild snakes, I almost ran over a big one in the monkey area :( There's not a whole lot to do in Wichita though, so this could be something fun to do.
We love this zoo! We have been getting family memberships the last couple of years and it is completely worth it. The animal exhibits are awesome! The gorillas, elephants, and rainforests areas are definitely worth checking out. A family membership is 139 and that's one of the best investments we make each year.
Lots to do and see. Very informational staff. I forgot my sunscreen but they had some to purchase. I would recommend our zoo to anyone who have a family and visiting Wichita. You will not be disappointed.
Always a Family Favorite. One of the best Zoo's in the Country!
Nice weather, not too busy and most of the animals were close to the viewing area.
I had the best time I have had in a long time with family. We went on the boat tour and saw as much of the zoo as we could. It was an amazing experience. If you get the chance take one whole day and enjoy every second of it, I did.
Really appreciated that the path in the bird exhibit are all paved. Would recommend going on a weekday to avoid crowds. Our little ones had a great time and was able to see all the exhibit without the crowd. We didn't feel guilty about staying at an exhibit longer than normal since there wasn't the weekend crowd.
We love this zoo! So many animals to see and you can see most in a morning which is perfect with little ones. Zookeepers are always friendly and willing to answer questions and seem to enjoy their jobs. It is so obvious that they really love the animals they care for (we love talking with the keepers of the orangutans). The Tropics has always been my favorite but their Australia and South America sections are definitely underrated stops during your trip. Worth the trip even if we didn't live so close!
Always love visiting this zoo. Petting zoo is great. It is laid out well and the staff was friendly. Reasonably priced.
This is a fantastic zoo! Reasonably priced, great staff and a great selection of animals to see!
Great animal attractions but could improve on speed of food courts (not the main bistro) they were loooong lines not moving fast and some spray misters would be great for summer days. Wish the boats were during the week as it's such a great addition that's under performed.
Participated in Zoobalie and it was a wonderful experience! Definitely worth the price to join the event, or paying to go visit the exhibits!
Great zoo. Many exhibits. well kept and clean. The tropical exhibit was very nice to walk through. The gorilla exhibit. Zookeepers throughout the zoo were very helpful and involve.
Loved it! Better then Oklahoma City's. Was worth the drive! I'll go again!
Beautifully laid out, beautifully landscaped, active animals. This zoo is amazing and it is no wonder it is nationally accredited! 6 stars!
Excellent zoo. I used to live in St Louis so a zoo that makes you pay to enter seems wrong, but the enclosures are bigger. Nicer for the anamals.
The zoo is well priced and the staff is friendly. It is well taken care of and clean. the animal exhibits are nice sizes and most of the animals are very interactive with the visitors.
My kids and I had a great time. I loved how they had everything set up and the decor was really cool! Awesome place, definitely like to go again but on a much cooler day.
Good place for kids and everyone who loves to spend time with beautiful animals. Good food options. Could easily spend 4 -5 hrs.
Really enjoyed this zoo. This was my first time going and had a great time with the family. The only complaint I have...very disappointed about this being that I have a 3 year old who has has to use the potty a lot, the bathrooms were very dirty and non had any soap! Went to 4 different restrooms and not one had any soap. Toilet paper everywhere covering the floors. Absolutely disgusting.
Great family place! Only complaint was that their wheelchair prices were ridiculous. We took my mother in law too the zoo to give her an inexpensive memorable experience on her visit. Her wheelchair rental was $25, when we returned it they tried to charge more due to exceeding an hour, which was never told to us prior to renting it.
They're in the middle of making improvements, so it's kind of noisy. Some of the animals are off exhibit because of it. But, regardless it's still a fun place to go with family/friends.
I really enjoyed the zoo part. I was disappointed that there were very few eateries and stands open (after labor day?) And the vending machines were poorly stocked. I got a little dehydrated, but I enjoyed the actual animals.
Not crowded as school started on Wednesday. Enjoyed the animals. They had plenty of room to move around.
I LOVE our zoo! I've lived it since I was a child. The petting zoo, the penguins, the otters...lions and tigers and bears :*D The animals seem to be well taken care of. Their enclosures are clean.
I love it, it's a good way to have a family day and see all the animals
The Sedgwick Country Zoo is: FANTASTIC for family fun. The staff is kind and attentive to the whole facility and all aspects of the Zoo. GREAT Family and Grandparents memberships. [Pictures below (dated 6/16/19) from the wolf enclosure. One adult and one of the two wolf pups.] The Elephants, Giraffe, Gorillas and Wolves are just a few of the animals who have litte ones to see. A totally wonderful family event. No Sedgwick Country Zoo trip is complete with a trip to the petting zoo. My family and I go several times a year. Hope you enjoy as much as we do....
My adult son decided to take me to the Sedgwick County Zoo for a late Mother's Day. We were fortunate to have a beautiful day for our visit. We had lunch in the restaurant and we were surprised, the food was quite good. We were excited to see the new elephant habitat, as elephants are my son's favorite animal. The elephants were so happy... We watched them wrestle around in the mud and play and then they strolled over to a dusty area and had a dust bath. It was great fun to watch. We really enjoyed the gorillas and their BABIES. Such cuteness...and the mom gorillas brought their babies up to the windows right next to us, to proudly show-off to the people and kids, who all squealed with delight. The tiger was pacing right in front of our faces. Unfortunately, the otters were not out...and I love them. The rain forest is now light and bright...and we were followed almost the entire time, by a large blue bird of some sort. The reptile house is always fun. We loved feeding the giraffes. We ended our day, chilling-out with the penguins. Try and see the penguins when the zookeeper is there. They are great with answering questions and the penguins are super-active. We enjoyed watching a penguin chase a little girl back and forth, the length of the swimming tank glass. I've been to many zoos in the U.S. and I gotta say..., the Sedgwick County Zoo is truly great.
I love this zoo, just sad they locked the goats away. I remember, as a child, being able to feed, pet, and play with them in the petting zoo. i wish my daughter could do the same... I still go to the zoo with her every chance I get. we have memberships to the Sedgwick Co Zoo. Totally work looking into if you go here often!
People that work there keep it clean. Good for exercise and it's neat to see the different animals. Food and drinks are high priced so I recommend eatting before you go. My wife carries a cooler back pack with bottle water for us.
They have such great exhibits and it really seems its about the animals Andy not about how ment animals van they fit in a small space.
It was a very amazing first experience lots of stuff to see but little time hope o e day to go back and visit
Always love the nostalgia of the zoo. I recently went with my fiance and spent five hours there just walking around. I appreciate how they keep expanding it free exhibit. Though this time one of the penguins ended up splashing me with your fish water, which is kind of gross. also it was feeding time so most of the animals like gorillas, and tigers, even lions were up close to the window.
Had a great time here. From the gorillas to the elephants. They have a free tram that goes around the zoo with several stops. They got a boat ride that's reasonable priced that offers a unique perspective. They have several places to grab a drink or food throughout the zoo.
Animals are so sad looking. Chimps didn't have water in their little water play area. Pretty landscape but I think animals need treated better.
Love the interaction that was there today. Snake exhibit had several animals out for interacting. Great way to spend time with your family.
I've been to many zoos and in my opinion this is one of the best I've visited! It's well laid out and the habitats are creatively put together. I loved that there were some areas, like the rainforest and Australia area, that you were able to observe some of the birds and other animals in a more natural setting because they were free range and you walked through their habitat as they roamed. The park was clean and well maintained and everyone I met that worked there was so nice! I look forward to coming here again!
We love SCZ! My only "negative" feedback is I thought they had more water misters out for people to get some reprieve and the water refill stations were hard to find. We got to see a few animals closer than we have before! And all the babies!
One of my favorite zoos I've ever been to. The rainforest exhibit is straight up amazing. The animals all have nice enclosures, and the employees seem happy to work there. Looking forward to going back.
Loved it except the other people were rude and disrespectful as my daughter in law are in wheelchairs and people wouldn't move for us. But the staff was so great and helpful. I highly recommend it.
My son's class went to a Fire and rescue event there. It was amazing. So many great things to see and so many things to learn. Thank you to the departments that are taking time out of their day to come teach our kids to be safer!!!
Best zoo around. I'm excited about the 25 year plan! Looking forward to the big changes coming. Only took one pic last time I guess. So here's my wife and I at the snack bar.
The animals were AMAZING. The staff was awesome! Cages well kept and the animals seemed very happy!the gorilla painting was the top thing that day!.
Perfect day for visiting the zoo! Haven't been here in about 10 years. Lots of people had the same idea today too. Even with lots of people it's still a smooth trip through the exhibits. Lots of animals to see and some you can even touch! The whole family had a great time today!
Attended zoobilee. I personally found it a waste of time. And in the beginning of the experience. I felt like cattle being loaded onto a semi trailer. Finding water was difficult. Non of the food vendors had, or were providing water. 95 degree day. You would think that the event coordinator would have planned the event a bit later in the year when it is cooler. And very few of the exhibits were open to the attendees. It just was a poor experience. And I will not attend again unless changes are made.
Was really impressed with the zoo, and how well the animals enclosures so adapted to them. The animals so healthy and happy. My 5 grandchildren really enjoyed their visit. We live in Olathe and our Zoo doesn't look as nice as ours. Granted ours is older and they are slowly changing it.
Wonderful time with the elephants today! Pouring down rain. They all entered the water and played. Beautiful sight.
Was at the Zoobilee event. Great time for a great cause. It was hot and humid, but your choice of plenty of cold beverages (alcoholic or not)..only complaint, they need better organization. A map of what vendors are where and what bands are performing and in what part of the zoo. The bands that were there weren't very good. I know plenty of local bands that would have been amazing at that event. We would have stayed longer had the bands been better.
It's always nice going to SCZ! Staff is always nice and do their best to answer questions when the have a minute!
My family and I love this zoo. We make an annual trip every year. My 1yr old son loved the interaction with the animals. The children's section is great. The walk through bird exhibit is his favorite part. I highly recommend this zoo!
Great Place for the kids. Exhibits are well kept and easy to access.
Always love our trips here! Exhibits appeal to kids of all ages (babies through adults!) and it seems like they've always added some fun new thing each time we go. I've been very impressed with exhibits and upkeep of this zoo, especially compared to some of the less impressive zoos in bigger cities. Helpful tip- I was able to get a free cup of ice water (we purchased other things along with it) and get it refilled at other snack stations. A lifesaver on a hot day!
The visit to the Zoo was exceptionally great. Took 3 of my grandkids and we all had a super great time. The only problem was the humidity and heat but it was nothing the Zoo could control.
Excellent Zoo with great exhibits. Plenty of shade on summer days. My family loved it
I can see why this review has so many great ratings and reviews. It was nicely laid out with plenty of covered areas even in there outdoor exhibits. There are quite a number of critically endangered or threatened species which made the takeaway lessons for the kids all that more poignant. Highly recommended.
What a cool zoo! And it's very large! There's everything you could want in a zoo here from food to animals and activities. They have the best petting zoo
animals be like: yes very kewl place to visit
Online it said they opened at 830am. Drove down to the zoo and they told us they were closed until noon. If you’re going to open late that’s fine, but UPDATE IT ONLINE!!!
This you had the best layout of any zoo I think I’ve ever been to. The elephants have an entire herd and side of the park. It was very well-kept, with thoughtful and interesting exhibit for the animals. The hippopotamus exhibit in the prairie dog exhibit in particular were really great to see. I also loved the interior exhibits, which normally I would pass over. But you can really get up close and personal with these birds! I can’t wait to go back.
Lots of nice exhibits. Not many animals out this time. And kind of messy. Just a busy weekend I guess. Usually its a great zoo
Such a nice zoo. Great variety of animals without being too big. Me kids really enjoyed the rainforest exhibit.
Our happy place. Tons of educational events, volunteer opportunities, and lots to see. Always clean, friendly staff, and SO MANY ANIMALS. The membership is well worth it!
I love visiting this zoo. The animals are so cute and the zoo has so many of them. The animals also seem to be extremely happy and that makes me very happy. The staff is also really nice and likes to help the visitors find what they are looking for. I also love taking pictures with each and every single o e of the animal statues. The only problem I had was that there wasn't a whole lot of hands-on experiments for the kids. I would also like to see more animal feeds and zoo-keeper talks.
Great zoo. Different ways to see almost every exhibit. Lots of room, even busy its not too crowded. Can bring in your own drinks and lunches.
The zoo landscape wz as impressive as the healthy and well cared for animals. The animal enclosures looked realistic and well planned to allow maximum viewing. The orangutans n babies performed acrobats continuously, and even some gorillas sat right next to the glass seeming to enjoy the attention for photos. A great zoo to visit!
Children friendly, accessible for wheel chairs, strollers, and handicap. Offers boat and tram rides. Picnic areas available for small and large groups.
Clean, modern exhibits, very educational regarding both the animsls AND the conservation status and efforts. Interactions with the keepers and some animals are frequently available, informative and appropriate for children.
Loved it was so much fun my family loves going
I remember going to the zoo here all the time when I was little. I hadn't gone in 5 years, and I was so impressed with the changes! I love how much room the elephants have and all of the nostalgic memories that came back. I will definitely be back soon!
Was great to be able to take advantage of the Cox Twilight Tues! Wonderful time with my grandbabies❤
Lots of new exhibits in the last decade. And even more to come. Fair priced. Nice concessions and a restaurant. You're allowed to bring outside food and drinks, so dont be afraid to pack a lunch if you're not into spending money at the concessions/restaurant. They have events all the time. All around a great place to visit and keep the kids occupied for a few hours.
Always a great place! I highly recommend paying for the boat ride. Bring lots of quarters to feed the animals
We drove from Kansas City to visit the Sedgwick County Zoo. The zoo was excellent, easy to walk through and the exhibits were very interactive and allowed for great views of the animals. The herpaterium was definitely a highlight. There are many areas to stop and have a picnic or purchase food.
This was absolutely my favorite zoo to visit. Very well organized, properly maintained, and lots of animals! I thought this going to be a fairly small zoo, but I was wrong!
Great place, lots of good exhibits. My son's first trip to a zoo, he was very happy.
You won't find a better zoo in the region. It's amazing the number of different species they have. Large exhibits with healthy animals. A true gem of Wichita KS
The bear enclosure was sad. The gorilla exhibit smelled, it brought tears to your eyes because of all the animals, the gorillas and monkeys....get what is essentially going on. It seems at this point humanity should be better.
Great place to take the family on a nice day. We've never had any issues there.
Probably one of the BEST zoos I have ever been too. My family spent more time here than at any other zoo we've been too (6 hours) and still could have looked at more. The walk is wonderful and very flat which is nice. The exhibits are maintained nicely and are close in proximity (but not too close). We will be back.
The zoo is always clean and well put together. Lots of events and cool things to see. I just wish they had a way to help the animals feel and seem a bit happier.
