This Zoo is classified in the category of Zoo.
It was a small, cute zoo. My grandkids loved it.
Not a lot to see.
Good animals and play area but there is a spot where it's easy to hit your head if you're taller than 4-5 feet. Be careful!
Pleasant inviroment, friendly staff, (after letting go of a unfriendly waitress) and great food!
Awesome dewd, visiting people in jail is always awesome lol
The zoo is great. It is small but the kids loved it. I love the new playground they added. The animals are cute and the signs about them are informative.
It had a bat
It's very quiet and peaceful. Even though it's small we really had a great time!!!!
It was disappointing not hardly any animals to see
Great place to visit
One of our favorite stops in Hutchinson. Haven't been there in years and was good to see that they had kept up with improvements and it was undergoing another small expansion. It's a free zoo, but always happy to leave some money in the donation box.
Average small town zoo. Operates on donations and local sponsors.
Super fun for the kiddos. Especially since the updates they have done!
Lots of closures. But looks like they have been making improvements.
Most was closed off
Due to flooding most of the animals had been moved off site
Great free zoo for familys.
Free zoo with train ride for a small charge. Call ahead on train hours. Zoo open daily 10 am to 4:45pm. Great family fun.
Free fun for the kiddos. Very small zoo, but has a nice picnic area, and it's great for the price. The train was disappointing, though.
My grandchildren love going they need more animal's in there.
It's free
Not a large zoo but beautiful and well maintained. Enjoyed walking around and admiring the grounds.
Had fun with grandkids
Great place to take ur kids to c the animals of ks
We had some free time while we were in town so we decided to check out this little zoo. I was very impressed at how clean it was. The gift shop wasn't open yet and the train wasn't running but my kids still really enjoyed it. I think they liked the dinosaur dig the best.
Small but fun for a family picnic and watching animals
It was very fun
Just kind of sad
The Hutchinson Zoo is a great local zoo with a lot of energy and a great price point. Come visit with your family and have a great time! Oh yes; while you are here ride the Prairie Thunder Railroad.
Great place to bring kids!
We were there around 02:00 PM, and half of the animals were not displayed.
They seem to be adding things since the last time we were here. It's perfect free place to take our preschool children
Fun place.
Its free &great place for the family to go.
Sad my owls were not there today. But it's a great place for the kids. Fun for Halloween
Cute! Some habitats a bit small. Clean, interesting. Nice place to walk and see some critters
Beautiful little zoo. Free admission. (Please, make at least a small donation!) Looking forward to the reveal of the new exhibit(s) and improvements. Ride the train! Renting a wagon for the little ones to ride in is only $2! Stop by the gift shop for snacks, cool drinks, and souvenirs. Even your small purchase benefits the animals and the zoo. The restrooms are very clean and well-kept. Water fountains can be found in several locations throughout the zoo. Bring change so you can buy food for the fish, turtles, and ducks! Lovely water features, plants, flowers, and walking paths. One of my favorite exhibits--the prairie dog domes, where visitors (children and small adults) can "get right in the middle of" the habitat!
Really cool experience! Great for kids and adults alike!
My family and I love our local zoo! It has become a staple for bonding time with my daughter. The staff are always very friendly, and more than willing to answer my questions. They have progressively brought in more animals (which we are thrilled about). But best of all, I feel super safe there.
My daughter and family enjoyed visiting here, lots of small animals, sad to not see the chimpanzee monkeys anymore, I hope they get more they are so cute. Overall nice outing and fun place to go.
Great place to take small children
Cute little zoo. Plan on going back to check out the river otter exhibit when its complete. We've been a few times. Picture is from our August visit
We always enjoy our visits to this zoo!
Small but very nice relaxing
Very relaxing
What was open was wonderful they still have a lot of work to do after the flood.
Free is great! Unfortunately most of the exhibits were empty. Big drive little payoff.
Great little zoo always working on improvements.
Great small zoo.
Love Fast Food.
So nice
Nothing amazing, but a peaceful place with a surprisingly large collection of animals and it's FREE.
It's a quaint little zoo with a nice walkway. When we visited they were adding on an expansion, so part of it is closed. We visited when they opened so there weren't many people and the animals were cutely sleeping. The park itself is free, while the train costs little to nothing and you can give donations to keep the park going. Our family of 6, all adults, enjoyed our morning walk and train ride. Recommended.
Fun place to take the kids.
Haven't been there for over a year.
Nice place for a kids birthday party a good time was had by all
Very relaxing
Fun
Great fun to take my grandkids
Small city park zoo. Focus is on North American species. Cool place to take small children for a quick visit.
I loved it, it is small but very well done
Great small town zoo. Can't wait for the Otter exhibit to be done!
very small, but cool animals
Need more animals
If you want a simple outing with your kids, or even by yourself, the Hutchinson Zoo makes for a great time. I have always enjoyed going here and am so happy that it is still around for my children to enjoy when I come back to the area to visit.
Fantastic! Greatest little zoo ever.
IT WAS AWESOME
Relaxing but recently flooded
Very nice place to visit. Especially on vacation
I had to give it three stars because when we were there, they were in the middle of some heavy duty construction and not very many of the animals were out. I'll mark it up after I go again...when the construction is over.
Fun for all ages
The Hutchinson Zoo is a beautiful facility. It is well maintained and has a full-time staff. The fact that the Zoo has free admission is astounding given the amount of attention the city and its employees give the location. Admittedly, the zoo is fairly small but the animal enclosures and interactive exhibits it does have are awesome. This is a great place to spend an afternoon with the kids. Although the Zoo is free, there is a suggested donation of $2. Don't worry, no one will hassle you for a donation, there is a simple donation box just after the entrance. When I visited, there was a good amount of construction going on in the back part of the Zoo, it was not distracting but it did make me curious what addition is coming to the Zoo. After you have finished at the Zoo, there is a small train that can be ridden for a short tour around the nearby park. The train ride last about 8 minutes and cost $3 a head. You can get a ticket in the Zoo gift shop.
It was alright
It was ok, it fits for the size of town it's in.
We used it for the company picnic . For the workers and family. They let us use their basment area for the food we cooked and gave train rides for the first hour. Lots of tables and shade
Such a nice small zoo and has really friendly staff. It is well kept & worth making the trip to. Certain days they have a train you can ride.
For a free zoo it's great! There's a lot of room to expand and add more exhibits.
There's just nothing too it anymore.
This zoo is free yes free!!! So thats awesome in itself and you can ride on a little train kids always love that get to feed ducks and fish always fun for kids also just very nice staff and fun for kids
I love this zoo. The staff in the gift shop are super friendly. Oh and it's free
Nice smaller zoo very kid freindly fun.train ride was neat.
Really neat place! The staff knew the animals and their habits and quirks well. Enclosures looked clean and well maintained. Our group was there for a birthday party and we enjoyed the Discovery Center, animal exhibits, train ride, and gift shop. Great, affordable experience!
Free admission! Just a donation, really neat. Not alot of options but totally worth taking the kids! They loved it, plus there's water parks and parks near by.
Great little zoo
It was nice clean but had destruction going on and I it would be nice if we could have seen the whole zoo and had a bigger selection and the gift shot but other than that it was very very pleasant
Nice little free zoo.
Do not go boring
Ran the Otter 5K it was a blast!!!
Great place to take the little ones.
Needs train ride employess
Nice little zoo, constantly making improvements. Nice place to stroll around over my lunch break
Small zoo but fun trip!
Great for families
I love it and it doesn't cost more than a donation
Admission by donation and small fee for train rides. Smaller but well designed and cared for with a good variety of animals. We like interacting with the animals and watching them interact with each other. A dino-dig sand pit and slide are available for young children. They also have a an info center with gift shop.
Great for the kids!
Great place
Fun and educational and pleasing! Go!!
Great variety of Kansas animals. Now has South American animals and a shark. Train and play areas for kiddos. Accessible paths for walkers and strollers. Free but suggested donation. Parking is free and close. Inside a park with other fun options. Love to visit the badger and Pronghorn!
Such a great place to visit for a quick afternoon out.
Small but perfect for kids. The guy that runs the train is a hoot!
They have a great selection of animals for younger kids to experience . Without all the rush of the bigger zoo's . It may not be a huge place but the time you can spend with them is priceless anyway . The have a avariy for bird's
Not to clean
The only issue was that some of the area was flooded so there wasn't that much to see really.
Has grown alot and is a very beautiful and fun little zoo!
Nice little zoo. Definitely can't complain since the admission was free.
Great for a family outing
We love the zoo in Hutch. The train ride is always fun. The exhibits are always well taken care of. They are always adding new exhibits. Check out the gift shop, they have some really cool stuff.
Its fun to go to the. Hutchinson zoo. The staff are friendly. Its taking a long time for them to finish the Otter exhibit. They did make good Improvements to the reptile exhibits.
Need more community activies for the children also more animal's or real life upfront interaction with the animal's there
Very fun
A great place to have fun and spend time, try it at least once
Under a lot of construction
Loved it.
Always adding new exhibits! Fun for kids and adults!
This zoo was so much fun!! I love that it's free!! The animals look well cared for and the staff we talked with were both friendly and knowledgeable. Great time!!! We will be back!!
Our last visit was 2013. It has really been neglected. I see they are creating new exhibits so that may be why things are the way they are. The grounds are nice and the play areas are fun. Looking forward to seeing the new areas soon. Overall it was a nice way to spend an hour with the family.
Great zoo
So much fun at their Christmas tree lighting event!
Great zoo, free entrance
Went to Boo at the Zoo. It was very crowded but well organized. Grandkids had a lot of fun
The Hutchinson Zoo is a great place to go to spend some time. The Zoo is always in great shape! They take great care of this place and it seems like they are always doing something to improve it! The facilities are super clean indoors and out! I'm from SW KS and I've been to the Garden City Zoo which is one of the largest free zoos in the US and I've seen animals here at Hutchinson that they didn't have there! Enough can't be said about the rehab center here. They do AMAZING work in there and we are very fortunate to have them in our community! I think most would be shocked to find out just how much good is being done here! They have the best staff around who is always helpful and knowledgeable. They also put together some really fun events here for the community and especially the kids! All around great place I'd give more stars if I could!
Great little Zoo. Perfect for little ones.
This zoo is small.... But when your kids enjoy the animals and sights it's still worth going to...
For a small, free zoo, this is a great place to spend some time. My favorite is the new hepatology building!
Perfect place for a date! Grounds look beautiful. Bring a handful of quarters to feed the fish!
Fun and Free!!! Doesn't get better then that!!!
Wonderful outing with grandbabies
Great for a small zoo
Awesome who doesn't love the zoo
We had a lot of fun. It's a nice little zoo and had some interactive features I have never seen before. It's nice to see they are adding to it.
Fun place for the kids.
We went for the night before Christmas train ride light show. It was cute and a nice little ride.
Small but fun for the kids! Donation entry makes it much more affordable than other zoos for our large family of 7!
I mean, it's free entry so that's a huge plus. The animals are not very exotic, but it's a free zoo. My toddler liked it, but was bummed there's no lions or fish. It appeared that about 1/3 of the zoo was closed for renovations, so that may be why it felt a bit lackluster to me. If I lived in Hutchinson I would definitely go here often. If you have to drive more than 15-20 mins, it might not be worth the trip.
Was alot of fun for a small zoo
Had a nice quiet visit with the kids...
It was hot and the animals looked miserable. There was trash in several of the exhibits. The animals were hardly moving around. It was very sad.
Great place for kids
This zoo is truly a treat for the city of Hutchinson. Although small, it's well maintained and is great place to take the kids on a Saturday afternoon. They also host multiple events throughout the year, so this gives everyone an opportunity to participate regardless of your interests. I'm proud to have this venue in our community.
It was cute, small and very clean!!! The family and I loved it!!!
Had fun when are they going to finish the new project
Amazing little zoo! Took our grandbaby and she loved it! There is no admission charge, donations accepted. A small gift shop has a lot of cute novelties!
Nice little zoo
Great place to take the kids. Little pricey on some stuff.
This is the saddest zoo I have ever been too. The animal cages dont look like anyone ever cleans them or actually takes care of any of them
the zoo is great, it is a great experience for the children. They Also have events on many of the holidays. If you bring your family here, it is free, but please use the donation box found at the front, it helps keep the zoo free, it keeps fun events in the town for our citizens.
Great free zoo.
It's small, but it's nice especially since it's free admission.
I love to eat lunch there and watch the ducks. Watching them Chase each other is hilarious.
What a great day we had walking around and looking at every thing!
A great zoo to visit. Our family loves going here every time we are in Hutchinson.
So small and cute
Lot's of animals native to our state, and not too crowded. It's always free to the public and they have friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Loved this zoo. You can get closer to the animals more than the majority of the other zoos that i have been to. Enjoyed the train ride and staff was very nice.
