Great small zoo. Perfect for young families. We have enjoyed several season passes here. Our family always has a great time. The only thing we wish they had was more healthy food options in their food area. No gluten free options. That is just a preference though.

I went to this zoo with tempered expectations and was pleasantly surprised. While operating on a limited budget, the zoo has made significant enhancements and improvements over the years, with routine construction occurring. While some areas still have a dated appearance, the zoo is remarkably clean and nothing felt rundown. The exhibits all seemed well taken care of as well. Options for food and drink were very reasonably priced. My largest complaint would be parking. The zoo lot fills up very quickly, and overflow happens on the surrounding streets. I was almost deterred from visiting by this, as from the outside, the day appeared unbearably crowded. I parked on a side street and walked maybe 8 minutes to the entrance. Once inside, my fears disappeared. Plenty of room on the paths to walk at my own pace. Many exhibits I was the sole viewer at times. Definitely a good destination for an inexpensive, couple hour day trip.

Love taking my kids here in the summer! They love the playground and the splash pad that is located right in front of the entrance of the zoo!Yes. Potawatomi Zoo. It is a great dining a few hours kinda zoo. Affordable family fun, friendly staff, and a nice mix of animals to see. Parking can fill up fast, but if you aren't a lazy butt, there is plenty of Parking on adjacent streets.

Cute little zoo. Bought a pass... Lots of 'pokestops' and great exercise for the fam. Train ride is a wash. Conductors commentary made the lack of any actual sights not a total waste of time. Lions tigers but no bears.

Great place to come spend a few hours. Not too big, but not too small. You can feed the animals (as long as you don't get caught), and there are even stations to purchase treats to give the alpacas, goats, ducks, and fish. They don't taste too great, though, so don't try them. While we were there, there was a bird that straight up murdered and devoured a fish. It was cray. Y'all, take your cameras. The lions don't like neon colored shirts, so be prepared for that.

This is our hometown zoo and one of our favorites. It isn't large, but it's perfect for a quick afternoon or if you really enjoy the animals, you can spend a quality amount of time at each exhibit watching them play. All the enclosure have a great view where it is easy to see the inhabitants. Currently they are expanding and significantly improving again. Even with the construction it is a great place to visit. With the parts that are completed already, you can see how nice it's going to be.

We recently went before Christmas for the zoo lights and had a great time. Most of the animals were not on exhibit, but the experience was fun nonetheless. My kids had a great time so that’s what matters. All my other visits here have been wonderful. It’s nice to avoid the traffic going to one of Chicago’s zoos and come here.

Littler zoo but for the price of a yearly ticket you gotta love it! Kids will really enjoy the petting zoo and they have been making some changes to make the park not only look nicer but easier to access the exibits. Check their website for events and classes. Recommend bringing water, unfortunately the site says no food allowed.

We have carried a family membership the last three years, and it has been great. Potawatomi Zoo is a great place to spend a few hours with the family. They are always improving their facilities and trying to provide a top notch day trip, with courteous staff and exciting exhibits.

Great affordable little zoo! Friendly staff. Well kept grounds. The goats are definitely a highlight! Don't forget to bring plenty of quarters for the feed! Save a few back for the ducks and fish that are on around past the turkeys....they're hungry to. The fish stick their mouth out of the water just begging to be fed it's so funny. Definitely would like to visit again, but the next time on a little warmer day.

We threw a birthday party at the zoo and was told a certain pricing. After the party was over we were informed that too many people came and they charged us an extra $130.00!! I find this very infuriating considering they didnt even collect the passes they gave us to turn in when we arrived. We also would have asked parents to drop off their kids and not stay if this was going to be an issue but instead of informing us right away they waited until after the party. I would not recommend having a birthday party for your child here considering we paid $250.00 just for a room and to see two animals for maybe 15 minutes. Very displeased with the whole experience.

It's a fun place for the kids and family but the zoo boo event was to much when they charge 8 dollars for kids and 10 dollars for the adult why charge the adult they Re not getting candy at least for the high price they should give out more candy?

Typical zoo in the spring, things were closed oh, there was construction. We couldn't find a bathroom and when we did it was closed. But what was open was nice. Had several lions and tigers. Not crowded and not too big for smaller kids. ride on the carousel and train were reasonable. Only $2 extra per Rider and you could buy multiple tickets at a discount.

I realize they're currently under construction. And they even mentioned that in the radio ads. Even so, the exhibits were quite dull, maybe because it was chilly and only a few days after they opened. Perhaps in summer when all is in full bloom it will be a more pleasant walk. The squirrel monkeys were extremely entertaining and made our trip almost worth the cost.

It was smaller than I thought it would be. It was hot when my friend and I went. Maybe some fans around the park would be a good investment but there is plenty of shade too. I liked seeing all of the animals, just hoped for a few more. Rhinos are coming soon but maybe lionesses or hyenas would be great. It was fun. It is more geared for the younger audience.

This was our first time at this zoo! It is a perfect size smaller than what we are use to but it has animals we dont usually get to see. A sloth and ant eater were on top of our list! Our boys liked the two rides specially the train. We stopped at the cafe for a quick snack. It was a great 4 hour trip to the zoo!

If you’re in the South Bend area and don’t want to drive 2 hours to Fort Wayne, this is the zoo to go to. It’s definitely not as good as San Diego Zoo or Fort Wayne. It’s much smaller but also much cheaper. It’s a zoo. You can feed some goats and llamas, see your typical animals, and see a few big cats. They’re doing what they can with what they have. For under $10/person, I’d say it’s still well worth it to occasionally visit if you have kids (or just like animals).

Indiana's oldest zoo seems to get nicer with each visit. Recent renovations are starting to take shape and are truly making the zoo more beautiful. There is a new 21+ drinking booth for the parents and seems to add new animals on a regular basis. Throughout the year the zoo offers many after-hour events. It's clear to see that there is an effort made to enhance the overall customer experience.

Even in the rainy weather there was plenty to do. The playgrounds are great for kids, they even have a water park. And the animals were fantastic, monkeys, gazelles, warthogs, lions, an ostrich, and more. I'll be attending again very soon.

Currently under construction which is why I gave 4/5 stars, it's a nice small zoo with a park and splash pad in the same parking lot. They have a small petting zoo and playground within the park next to their gift shop. It is worth getting the membership if you are a family of 3 and go more than 3x a year.

My 17 month old son and I went to the zoo today, as we have together roughly 5-7 times this summer. It’s 3:30 now so only a little bit of time left before it closes. Today is the first day that I’ve actually had our family pass with me to present to the lady at the front desk. Since it’s my girlfriend’s name on the pass and not my own, this lady wouldn’t let us in today. The previous times, I’ve only had to give them the name on the pass and they looked it up on the sheet and allowed us in. Obviously because they realized we aren’t trying to cheat the zoo out of their $7 or whatever it is and believed that we already spent money for the season pass. Pretty pathetic that this lady takes her job that serious as to where she won’t let a little boy see the animals, because she thinks we aren’t telling the truth. Policy or not, that lady obviously needs a hug.

Saturdays may not be the best time to visit since it's crowded with families with kids. Parking could be tricky at peak time. There was a long line for tickets but it moved fast. To make the wait more pleasant, zoo workers came out with animals for kids of all ages to pet. It was a nice experience. It's a nice zoo. I hear that they will add a pavilion with bears and wolves. Overall it is a nice place to visit, better before noon I the early afternoon the animals are having their siestas.

This year I would have to say I am disappointed with the zoo and staff. Me and my fiancee have been member holders here for a few years now. They are doing alot of improvements to the zoo which will be great when completed. Issue I have is memberships and daily entry fees remained the same during construction while numerous times we have went this year, certain exhibits have been closed. I understand at times exhibits will have to be upgraded which will close for a while but they are trying to get it done as fast as possible so multiple exhibits closed at one time. Issue with the staff is just over a week ago we were there spending the afternoon and went to outside concession back by otters to grab our little girl a bag of popcorn. The lady made an honest mistake and hit the wrong button and charged me 21.47 for a bag of popcorn then said she was sorry and then charged me the correct amount of 2.14 for it. I asked her if she was going to refund me and she said she didn't know how but promised me she would call someone back to get it done and wouldn't forget. With a 4 year oI'd and 6 month old with us. Sitting in one spot is not an option so I made sure I got her name before I left. 2 days past and still no refund. So then over the next few days I left multiple messages to 3 different managers. No calls back. My messages started getting more frustrated and then finally someone returned my call. Not only did it not seem like keeping their members happy was a priority to them when It was their mistake but the lady who was supposed to take care of it forgot. When I spoke to them over the phone a lady said she would give all my information to her assistant to get my refund back and so far it has been a couple days and still no sign of it. Let's see if they forgot again.

Baught a membership in April and didnt get our cards until July. Used code Rhino still no Rhino exhibit. Try to take our kids today to the zoo but get denied because it's an 21 or older day on a Saturday at 3:30? Why not do it after 5pm? Declined at 4pm a month ago, because they close at 5pm. The staff is a joke. The zoo is rundown. Save your money. Wish I could leave a zero star review.

The zoo is being remodeled; some exhibits are closed due to this. The online map indicated more animals then are currently being housed at the zoo. For example, a giraffe exhibit is shown and when we inquired about it we were told the giraffe is in the six-year plan but not this year. Be certain to visit this zoo in warmer weather when more of their animals are in their exhibits. Many were not out of protective winter housing.

We loved the small zoo. It doesn't take 6 hours like some big zoos and its fun for the whole family. BRING QUARTERS (or it's a hassle to go get it from the booths) this is for farm animal pellets and the penny print machine in the Learning Center by the entrance. In support of the zoo and (non DD) parents ;) there are huts that sell alcoholic beverages, its about $8 a cup. Across the parking lot is a huge playground and picnic area. Just in case the kids (and you) have some energy left. The only reasons as to why I gave it 4 stars was because some of the animals were not out due to weather, changing enclosures, sick etc. Also, during our visit (not sure if this is their norm) we couldnt go IN the farm animal enclosures and interact with them, but you can feed and pet them from the fence. Once you leave the farm animals, there is a nice hand washing station (not just a sanitizer stand). I am excited for the construction to finish and for the Rhinos to arrive! This summer will be a great time to visit.

There's not a lot for toddlers to play on at the parks. The water pad/area is fairly large. The water pad gets a bit slippery for barefoot children.

This is a very clean smaller zoo with a variety of different animals. There's also a train ride and a beautiful carousel here. There is an extra fee for the rides. I believe it's two dollars per ride or you can buy an attraction pass of 15 rides for 20 dollars, a savings of 10 dollars. I took my kids here and now my kids take their kids here. We always have a great time! There's a hands on animal farm where you can feed and pet goats. There are donkeys, cows, and llamas at the farm too. Then when you're finished touching/feeding the animals, there's a nearby hand washing station. The zoo is under construction in a few areas right now with a couple of detours, but the staff are doing a great job of helping zoo attendees have a great time visiting the zoo. I can't wait to see how nice the zoo looks once the improvements are finished! I just love this zoo! Its nearby and has plenty to offer. I highly recommend Potawatomie Zoo!

The Zoo is a nice place to visit with kids, it is a one time must. The areas where respected animals are kept are designed by keeping them in mind. The Flamingos are beautiful I just loved their beauty. If you like a certain specie of animal, you should visit. The staff is really good, they take good care of the animals.

I went in the winter. It was a "special" event, but even though they were expecting a crowd they didn't clear the parking lot or the sidewalks. There were people desperately searching for parking and once they did they then had to try and protect their children from the other desperate drivers. The indoor areas weren't open, so people couldn't warm up at all. The chicken tenders were breaded and cooked as if they were fish, but the curly fries were pretty good.

We love this zoo. My family bought a membership package back in May and it has already paid for itself. We have two small children who love riding in their wagon and seeing the animals. Membership comes with discounts at the Congo cafe as well as the gift shop.

The staff was quite friendly and the zoo was well maintained. (Considering the size this isn't a difficult task.) Also, many of the animals were nowhere to be found. (Which actually made me happy because the enclosures that these animals spend a lifetime in are completely inadequate in terms of size.)

This is a great zoo. They have all sorts of animals. A great variety of monkeys, deer, birds, bison, alligators, fish, and so much more. They have a great little place for lunch. They also have a couple different places for snacks. They serve hershey's ice cream that is refreshing on a hot day. Also have a great reptile building that also serves as an education center

This was a decent sized zoo with many exhibits and descriptions. Was easy to navigate even with my daughter who has trouble walking. The 10 dollar admission made it an easy decision to go.

It's a small zoo, and it knows that, but they still do good work. The enclosures are clean. The animals seem happy. They're getting a dang rhino soon! Great place for toddlers. Solid Pokémon GO presence.

The best zoo in my area. The goliath bird eating tarantula is subject to poor husbandry and is probably unable to grow. It is visibly under a lot of stress as a lot of the hair on its abdomen has been flicked off. A shame really, if no one wants to take care of an arachnid then don't keep them in the zoo like that. There used to be scorpions, but chances are they died due to lack of proper care.

Horrible experience, there were at least 10 school districts with multiple bus loads crammed into a zoo still under construction. I was there 5 years ago - IT WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION! Nothing is better. One of the lions had a giant wound on its hip. No staff around to hand out maps or help until we were near the front of the bathroom line after waiting for at least 20 minutes. I was chaperoning a group of four, 7 year olds. A staff member walks up to the line and says hey there are other restrooms way over there in some building on the other side of the chopped up zoo. She’s looking at me with the 4 girls doing the pee dance. I’m like gee thanks but wouldn’t we be better off staying here since we are nearly to the TWO stall bathroom?! She chuckles and somewhat agrees, it’s no big deal to her. Anyhow, I also spent $10 for us to ride the carousel one time. We waited in line for at least 20 minutes for those tickets that weren’t available at the carousel, I had to drag all 4 girls to the gift shop to stand in line and look at toys no one could buy! I only had $20 dollars and felt horrible having to tell the girls no to the face painting and train ride. No money for goat or fish feeding. No souvenirs! By the way, while standing in the bathroom line I notice a lady with a field trip pass for several of the attractions. We were on a field trip! I would only recommend shutting this place down.

We love this zoo and we think the ticket price is fair. I could not even begin to imagine the extensive operational budget which they endure. Just doing the quick math --- payroll, animal care and their food, upkeep of buildings and grounds --- it must be astronomical. Still, they keep the pricing reasonable and affordable. The reason why I did not give it a five star is because of two things: First, despite the fact that the zoo does not close until 5:00, the little walk up restaurant closed at 3:30 and the gift shop closed at 4:30. This greatly dissappointed our granddaughter. I would think that if the zoo is open until 5:00, all areas should remain open until then. We do pay an admittence fee so parts of it shouldn't shut down early. We got lucky with the merry-go-round. It was also shutting down early at 4:40 but the lady running it was nice enough to still allow our granddaughter to have the last ride of the day. All in all, it's a great little zoo but it just needs to serve it's customers a little better ----everything should remain open until closing time.

One of the best zoo I have ever been to! The day i went I was so lucky that I was one of the few people that visited that day (as there was rain forecast, there weren't much crowd). I was so lucky to enjoy the park at peace. It was so peaceful and calm. I loved the Tiger enclosure and there were 4 Tigers which I didnt expect. The Kangaroo enclosure was so cool! This park did give me a memorable experience and hope it does for everyone else too!

Such an amazing place! Lots of diversity in the types of animals and the staff loves to teach! They want to show you all about the animals they love so much! Josh Sisk, Liz, and Maggie are astounding with the knowledge they have on all of their animals and the eagerness to share! I would highly recommend this place for a family outting or just for you to take a day for yourself.

Q One of our fave places to go on a nice day to waste a few hours. We have been going since our son was a month or 2bold and he is 4 now. Some of the goats must recognize him, cause they come running over as soon as they see him, even without the food, lol. It's a comfortable walk, and we never get tired of going. The food is actually reasonable for the quality. We always get the refillable cups at the begining of the season and just toss them in our bag.

Came for the winter days. There was some exciting new construction going on (it was the of season) and this small little zoo just wowed me. Great collection of animals. And the lion even came out and have us a great roar. Definitely coming back.

This is a wonderful small zoo set in a nice South Bend neighborhood. They have a great variety of unusual species, red panda, opaki, African wild dogs, snow leopard. Definitely worth a visit but go with the expectation that it's not a big city zoo.

Undergoing major construction. It is still open. Some exhibits are closed. We enjoyed a beautiful day & had lunch at the cafe, & I thought lunch prices were very good. My grand daughter rode train once & carousel 2 times. Adults ride free if you stand beside child. She rode free as well, under age 2 rides free. Plenty of bathrooms, walking paths are nice. I can do w/o the buffalo. Overall, enjoyable zoo.

For a smaller zoo, this zoo has something for everyone, from a good selection of animals to the rides and feeding stations for the kids. There is a great selection of food at the concession building. If the kids still have energy to burn after the zoo, there is a very nice park adjacent with a fun play area and lots of room to run.

Love coming here, the selection of animals is as vast as ever. Clean park and beautiful area. The tiger exhibit is always worth going to see. Plenty of shade for hot days and plenty of spots for refreshments as well as a nice place to sit and eat right next to the flamingos.

They seem to be doing so much to make the zoo a better experience. Not sure I love the liquor idea. Just waiting for someone to slam thier drink on a 90 degree day and hurl. Hopefully people are to smart for that, but there are always those that don't practice common sense. All in all I absolutely love it here. The River Otters are my fav!!!

Awesome zoo, good zoo for all ages, we were there on fathers day, found someone had thrown a big rock on the back of the alligator, went again on the next fri, had to stop a little boy from throwing rocks at the flamingos, mom and dad were off somewhere else not watching him, please watch your kids!!
