REVIEWS OF Mesker Park Zoo IN Indiana

What a clean, well thought out, local zoo. The indoor botanic garden is the exhibit that really shines here. Walking through the garden during colder months is so enjoyable. Animals look content, food selection is nice, and staff are friendly. All around, this is a nice smaller zoo at a nice price.

Laura Batey

Gorgeous, very clean. Great for all ages. I was able to get closer pictures of the animals at this zoo than others I have visited. Hot day when I was there, animals not active, but easier to see and photograph. Gift shop lacks, no drink/food stands around the park. Does have drinking fountains available through the park.

T. Sinclair

We absolutely LOVE the Zoo, having 4 kids/family of 6, we went ahead and bought a Family Membership... It was worth every cent, within the first 2 weeks of purchasing it, we'd saved money by going so much LoL

Daphney McCristal

Great exhibits and lots of different animals

Ashleigh Bibbler

I love this zoo! It's one of my favorite places to go in Evansville. The staff is knowledgeable and works hard to provide an enriching and engaging environment for both the animals and the zoo patrons. This is a wonderful place to bring children or to spend the morning strolling about and watching the animals. Also they are open to the public all year!

Free2Roam

Nice small zoo. Employees all friendly. Tram available to help you get up and down the hills

Jackson Davis

Wonderful walk, Beautiful animals, and a very friendly working staff! Good Times! And hand feed the budgies!!

Marian Martin

so we decided to road trip up to Evansville, Indiana while we lived in the Nashville area. This was not a very large, nor expensive zoo.over the animals, love the exercise walking around the complex where you don't even realize you are even exercising because of the enjoyment.until Fit bit texts you CONGRATS you just walked 5 miles. Best way to exercise, oblivious to It!!! I love the flowers too, there is always GORGEOUS flowers and fauna everywhere..

Alexandra Dixon

Overall, the zoo was nice. It was easy to navigate the park. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes because you do have to go up and down hills. The park was clean and kept up. Upset the paddle boats were not open. I also had concerns about some of the animals. Many of them looked sickly. The giraffes are pretty much kept in an unshaded, gravel parking lot. The Siberian tiger looked very distraught probably because lack of shade and limited space. There’s plenty of unused space to make better living conditions for these animals.

david powell

Awesome experience!! Haven't been to the zoo since I was really young so I was blown away by the exhibits, the staff, and just the overall quality of the zoo. 10/10 in my book.

Taylor Carter

Very clean park and admission price isn't bad at all

Debbie Kurtz

It is nice .. You have to pay for everything tho except parking .. To feed the animals ..pay ... Boats pay ... Rides ..pay .. At least make it free for members ???

Robbie Reeder

Have a great time with your family here!

Tara Reid

Mesker Zoo has been a part of the community since I can remember. It is certainly not the largest zoo, but it is well maintained and a very neat place to walk and take our grand kids. The displays and animals are always fun to visit and they are increasing the zoo 'population' all the time. The Botanic Gardens was a great addition. It is full of interesting exhibits as well. Mesker Zoo is a GREAT family attraction for both visitors and residents alike.

Mark Powell

It's a small zoo but reasonably priced. The staff was super friendly especially in the dining area. Shirley did great and was good with the kids. Exhibits for the most part were well maintained. Only complaint is the wait time trying to get tickets. The one line extended out into the parking lot where people had to move due to incoming vehicles.

Brittany Bedingfield

Old time charm with new age wonder. Super friendly staff. Animals seemed well taken care of and comfortable. The tiger enclosure was lacking in space and shelter, but otherwise the exhibits were all great! I love the rooftop overlooks and the pond. The amazonian house was spectacular!

Anna

It's okay jus wish they would take care of the animals like they should or get somebody that's strict and know what the heck they're doing zookeepers there suck

Alan Simmons

The best value is the Zookeeper level membership program. Enjoyed a cool afternoon seeing the various exhibits. A hidden jewel in Evansville... Daughter loves the carousel.

tinylesbians

Smaller zoo that's good for part of a day trip to Evansville. Small enough that you can walk the paths and see everything but it not take up your full day. Very clean and kid friendly. There are several kids areas separate from the main zoo attractions for getting extra energy out or just helping them learn about conservation. They have a giraffe encounter most days at 11am and 2pm that are very easy to make part of your trip and only cost 2 of the zoo's currency that can be bought anywhere in the park before hand. It's a really cool thing to do for kids or adults. Part of the year they even have paddle boats and a carousel.

Greg Schuble

It was great. My kids learn something new each time we go.

Rolling With The Jones'

Great zoo! Wish this one was closer to our home because we would visit all the time!

TONY TRIP

This place is the most awesome spot in Evansville. We have quite an attraction, lots of animals and super friendly staff. For a Zoo in a small City this is 5 stars all day long!!

Kyndra Parton

We had a great time. However, it seemed like several exhibits were under construction. We didnt get to see "north America" because we went the wrong directions. Spent 3 hours walking the zoo

Jray ѕραякѕ

Love this zoo. They have a painting rhino. Small, up close personal zoo. Only downside is lots of large hills. Very good for small kids.

Marcia Gray

Needs elephants. Nice zoo. Lots of hills. Needs a little updating. Some viewing areas hard for children to view and not safe.

Betty Shaver

The kids had a good place to run, however, for what they had to offer the price wasn’t all that great. The food was way overpriced. $3.50 for a glass or can of coke is overpriced. They had no elephants and if you missed feeding time within minutes you didn’t get to feed the animals which children love to do. The staff was friendly but it is more of a place to see birds than animals. I live almost as close to Louisville and Nashville as I do to Evansville and would choose to drive a little farther for the bigger zoo and more animals. They didn’t have a lot to offer as far as a zoo is concerned

Hammer Time

It was our first time there . I was impressed with the staff and the setup. it was well worth our hour trip there and back.

J R

All the animals were sick or hiding. It was almost like a ghost town amusement park from a scary story like Goosebumps!

Greg Gordon

Great zoo. The family and I loved. For a smaller zoo it is awesome. Drink machines are expensive at 3.00 a drink. A little crazy.

Sean Smith

While small, the animals are well kept and there's plenty of extra experiences to keep the kids interested. If you only have a short time, hop on and off the tram for two bucks a rider. The carousel has a good variety of animals to ride on for two bucks per rider. The gift shop had plenty of variety for all ages. The cafe was reasonably priced with good variety and friendly staff.

Chris

An excellent afternoon with the kids away from their mobile devices. I personally love the hilly terrain but it may be a bit of a hindrance to those with limited mobility.

crow goddess

Feeding the Giraffes is the best.

Gabriela Maynard

Enjoyed going to this little but very nice place. Nice location. Not all the exhibits had the animals that were supposed to be in them.

stewart gangwer

For a small zoo, it was ok. For older people it is a tough walk. Locations of exhibits was very confusing which was not helped by conflicting arrows.

Brenda Tanner

Sad, sad, sad...2 adults & 1 child $27.50...extra for paddle boats, but only took us 50 minutes to see everything. Mesker used to be a wonderful zoo, but no more. Save your money.

Chris A

Great zoo for it's size! The Amazon exhibit is as good of quality as anywhere. Admission is half priced if you're a member of any zoo and there's also a discount for local residents. This zoo and botanical gardens is truly a gem for this region. I'd highly recommend checking it out if you're near Evansville.

Eric Rickard

I love it because I love the animals but hate the hills thank goodness for the shuttle 4 people my bad leg age

Plutonium Dragon

Great place for a casual family outing!

Erin Johnson

Love the zoo! Always have a great time when the family goes!

Robyn New

I've been here twice and have loved both times.

Elizabeth Harrison

Loved it. It's small, but we had a blast. We drove from TN because,of the good ratings and weren't disappointed! I feel like Mesker beat the Nashville Zoo by a mile! It's clean, the employees are friendly, the exhibits are nice, and there are tons of cute picture places. We will be back!

Stephanie Larkins

My family and I LOVE the zoo. We try to go several times a year. We all have a favorite animal of course that we must see and we enjoy how inviting and clean Mesker stays even when they are building new habitats and structures. I would recommend this zoo all day everyday.

Johnathan Karch

We had a great half day trip to the zoo. We were in town visiting family and had half a day to kill. We are zoo members where we live and that got us 50% off to come here. My kids loved the zoo. Really cool animals we don't see at home. Rhino is my favorite, you get really close too! Plenty of shade to keep the sun off you was super nice. Some big hills though, but it's good exercise. It is a half day to see it all, but we loved what we saw in that time.

Andrew Scraper

Good exhibits, good tram. Kids had a blast on the splash pad. Food is WAY over priced, so pack a lunch.

Tabitha Morris

My family and I had a great time when we visited. It was overly crowded and it is a very easy park to navigate. Not a huge zoo but it is nice, clean and kid friendly.

Alexandra LaForrest

Your poor tiger is miserable. He has no space to run around or be adventurous, so he paces back and forth from extreme boredom. How much money would it cost to send him back to the wild? From his behaviour it seems like hes been held in captivity long enough.

Elliott 1

Nice smaller zoo. Some good exhibits. Kids enjoyed it.

Don Helmerich

We love going here with our grandkids. There is so much new to see. We really enjoy all the new exhibits. The grandkids LOVE the new carousel. Great place for families!

Stormy Kara

A decent small zoo, perfect for a day trip. However, be prepared to scale multiple steep hills to get around the zoo and to see some of the animals. Some of the animals were quite out-of-the-way, tucked away in a corner in a building, and the bumper boats attraction looked run down and dirty. Overall, this zoo could do with a little touching up, but not a bad way to spend a couple hours.

Teresa Ruddell

Beautiful day at the Mesker Zoo. Took my elderly mother and daughter; they loved it! Food at the grill tasted old but still a great visit.

Andrew Bagwell

Great zoo! We got the yearly Membership... We'll be back again!

Justin Webb

Nice Zoo, friendly staff. It's laid out in a large circle so you can't miss anything. Though if you don't bring your own drinks be prepared to pay up at the vending machines and definitely at the cafe. Other than that, it's a great way to spend the day.

Scott Kasper

Great variety of animals and exhibits, including feeding a giraffe. Prices are good too.

david baize

Nice place but definitely could use some renovations

Jessica Purdy

It's ok, but Nashville is much better. Starting to look run down. Most impressive animals are the giraffes and leapord. If you can stand the hot smell of poop, the rhino is neat, prehistoric looking.

Sean Grant

The best zoo in Evansville. Lol. It's much better than it used to be, I just fell bad about the animals being in such small enclosures.

Adam Paris

I've been here twice. Just recently visited with a toddler. It was a cool quiet morning and some exhibits were closed or being repaired, but otherwise, the park was in good shape and still had quite a selection of animals. The botanical garden is a cool area.

Olga Cepec

Great zoo! Very friendly staff, good exhibits and reasonable pricing.

Terry Ramsey

Nice place to take the family without breaking the bank.

Jason Beadles

I so want to be able to give you 5 stats but there is a lot of work that needs done. We need an elephant or multiple back and a gorilla enclosure that has eye to eye viewing of these magnificent creatures. I Know It has to be funded but the revenue you would gain Because of increased attendance it would be recouped rather quickly. The only reason I give 2 stars is for The future penguin project and Amazonia.

Kristina McDowell

The staff is extremely knowledgeable. Not overly packed, which is nice while observing the exhibits. The Amazonia Exhibit is impressive, yet there are multiple exhibits that are in desperate need of TLC.

janie utley

This zoo is way over priced and the park is run down. Not many animals. AMD the animals where very hot and locked outside. The poor jaguar was panting so hard and drawling.

daniel ritchie

Great deal for the money. Staff are very helpful. Could use some new animals

Miranda Moyer

It's a good zoo for a local adventure. Could be better. Not as many animals as bigger zoo's and I feel as if Evansville is big enough to handle expanding it. But the 3 year old loves it!

Tonya Taunton

Decent park, but was disturbed by how unhappy all their cats are. Pacing, frothing, visually unhappy.

tamara pressley

Staff was great Amazon was great the rest was not good not enough animals had to see big cats dark room was a wast of time couldn't see at all

Rhonda Rose

great place to take the family.

Jonathan Gutierrez

A really great value for the cost. There's a lot more to see then you would expect considering the size of the zoo. I really enjoyed my visit to the zoo and may come back in the future but the only thing I would say people may want to consider is the amount of walking you'll do up and down hills at Mesker Park Zoo. I enjoyed it and felt good about the number of steps I put in at the zoo but I know many people don't like exhausting themselves like that.

Ryan Sweeney

Small zoo, not anything special, but nice. I'm not pro zoo, but at the rate we are destroying this planet, nice see conservation efforts by Mesker. I hope to partake in some of your fund raising events in the future.

Brad Gray

Only one person actually acknowledged my son and that was the man at the area with the goats and mini horse the rest where just there for a paycheck. The "token" system is a joke why cant I just pay for what i want at the gate and not be charged every time I turn around? The bird feeding area is nuts $2 per person for 2 cents worth of feed on a stick 90% of the birds didnt want anything to do with it anyway. $2 a pop for a piece of lettuce to feed the giraffes and you are very rushed through that. I seen the trolly twice in three hours. Was planning on eating at the cafe until we walked inside looked like a bunch of overpriced gas station food we passed on that. Some of the enclosures are to small and the simulated habitat crowds the area to where you cant see the animal half the time. Several birds in the enclosures just paced the fences I dont know what that was about maybe a territorial thing. The kids enjoyed it for the most part mainly because they didn't have to scale Everest three times over as flat as Indiana is they really couldn't have picked a worse spot to put a zoo.

Ali Zack

The zoo was super nice and clean and had many interactive aspects to it. Plenty of shade was provided by the beautiful trees above. I fed a freaking giraffe and I do not care how old you are... It's freaking awesome to feed a freaking giraffe. We also fed some birds, but they weren't just any birds. They were beautiful and colorful little creatures and there were like HUNDREDS of them. (Picture shown) definitely a great place to go with kids, adults, or just whoever. There were also peacocks roaming around which was cool to. Not expensive to get in either. OH! And you can take these awesome boat rides. #Magical #NatureIsAwesome

Jamie Wambugu

I always have a lot of fun there

Jamie ochs

We had a great time. Enjoyed it.

Kyle Hinton

This is the most family friendly zoo I've ever visited. The staff members are courteous and knowledgeable. The animal are generally very active if you arrive in the morning hours. The layout is circular and fenced. A family pass is only $65 annually and gets you free admission to many other zoo's around the country or HUGE (generally 50%) discounts.

Michael Ellis

Awesome zoo. Definitely will get a great workout.

T B

The amazonia is the only cool place. The rest of the animals need a huge over haul on the places that they stay. Very basic.

Alisa Vogt

Amazing facility. My grandson and I loved the peddle boats and carousel!

Sarah Spelbring

Great walking workoutand see some critters, too!

Julie Riddell

My kids and I really enjoyed the zoo. I thought, for its size, that the zoo had a really good variety of animals. Admission is very reasonable..all three of us in for well under $30. If you’re in the Evansville area, I recommend you give it a try. If I were local, I would get the membership just to go walk the hills.

Nicholas G Wagner

This is a nice zoo. If you live in the area or plan to visit frequently I would recommend a membership. Good size, without being too big. Paddle boats are fun and a nice touch. Not the cheapest place to eat but the restaurant makes decent pizza and burgers. Cost is about $100 dollars for a family of 4 to enjoy the day, seems a little high, but again membership had its privaledges and would have made this much more economical.

christa van wye

This place was great! It is spread out so expect to walk a lot, and there are some pretty steep areas. We didn't have any problems navigating through and I had a heavy toddler in a large jogging stroller to push. There are a lot of areas that just have plants and such, so there probably could stand to be some more animal habitats, but overall it's a really nice zoo. The staff are very friendly and took the time to explain the animals. It's clear they really care about them. I would definitely visit again. I've been to a lot of different animal habitats and zoos and I would recommend this one.

Joy &!

Awesome place to take people of all ages! Watch out for the hills though, and bring comfy shoes!!

Faith Adams

Loved this zoo. First time I was able to take my son to a zoo n he had a great time

L Merritt

Just returned to the zoo after it completed an expansion. Incredible job and great new exhibits. More on the way.

Michele Hoffmann

Love this zoo though it is quite hilly

Zack Robinson

We love this zoo. It's not huge, but that works out great for our small children. We can just pop in for a few hours, walk around and have fun, and then leave and everyone is happy. The kids love the otter and prairie dog exhibits!

shell j

Small which is great if you have small kid, can't walk as far as a bigger, ect I like that it doesn't take all day....get in get out.... unless your the type that wants to spend a full day at the zoo. Not me I got other things to do.

Robin Bailey

Great place to visit on a day trip, well worth the trip down. Very kid friendly.

Amanda Jo

Probably would've enjoyed more if the weather was better. We think most of the animals were inside do to the rain coming.

Scott Hedrick

Really looking forward to taking my kiddos back. They really enjoy the rolling hills.

Christa Sweeney

It seems like a lot of the exhibits had weeds. I'm not an expert but it doesn't seem like a natural habitat just lazy. Other than that great zoo! The plant sale was what drove us in

john Pace

The animals and exhibits were amazing. I really liked the jaguar & the Rain Forest birds.

Ryan Wilson

While it is a nice enough zoo in general, it is clearly struggling. A lot of their pathways, facilities, etc. were very worn out. Many exhibits were empty or clearly intended for more animals than were present, with at least one empty exhibit expressing that the animals within were one of the zoo's most important animals (i.e. rare), though they had been gone so long that they had been removed from the map. The zoo couldn't even be bothered to take down the signs for animals that were gone. They are building a new penguin exhibit, which was not even a construction site at the time of my visit, but the money would be better spent on repairs. They don't have much choice, however, as people won't donate to massive repair projects. The included photo does not necessarily reflect this review, but it did come from this zoo.

Kim Boyer

They need to be shut down. Their animals are always hungry and look horrible!

Jackie Gibbons

We have been to many zoos and thought this one was great! It had lots of natural plants around making it an authentic experience. The habitats were well kept. Great educational experience too.

Catherine M Railey

It's okay Zoo but I know they could do better for the price they charge

Milana Miller

I feel as if I was taking a small hiking trip with my two little boys and they got to experience all the different animals and learn the names and have a fun experience

Joshua Maddalena

Took the family here while I was in the area for work and was not disappointed in the slightest. Tickets came to about $36 for the four of us. We also spent $20.00 in zoo tokens, which are used for feeding the giraffes, and riding the tram and carousel. Each costs 2 tokens per person, but the tram is all day use. The food on site is pricey, but honestly that is expected. However, quality of food was much better than expected. The exhibits himself were well maintained and there was a wide variety of animals to see. Was definitely well worth the money for a day out with the family and an experience for our kids.

Jade Knox

Just a fun zoo there’s a lot of hills and unlevel places but it can not ruin the fun. Went there for the first time last week and it was the best time I’ve ever had

Jacquelyn Hughes

Beautful zoo and exhibits! The enchanted forest was so fun for the littles!

Sarah Hartman

Friendly zoo staff, reasonable admittance price, and a fair amount of animals to see even in the winter. Peacocks roam around which is fun especially if they’re ruffling their feathers. The amazon enclosure has free flying birds and lots of plants, so that was my favorite part. The other enclosures were mostly fair sized for the animals. The tiger has a very small space to roam though, which was a bit sad to see.

Mary Frazer

We love coming out to the zoo. We have gotten memberships for the last few years and use them all the time. My kids love it and want to go every chance we get.

Mikka Riley

It sucks. I dont recommend it at all

Delaney Myers

My experience at this zoo was very unpleasant. The giraffes and zebras were placed in a small enclosure with gravel. Not even a single patch of grass. Most enclosures for the larger animals were way too small. There were workers that were not friendly, acted like they didn’t want to be there, and were annoyed to answer questions. The enclosures for the smaller animals were nice and well thought out, but that wasn’t the case for almost all of the larger animals. Overall, I would not recommend this zoo and I will not be returning.

scott littrell

It's always nice but they had alot of construction going on and not many animals where out, this time. And the signs need to be a little better at where you're going and where you're at. I had 7 people ask me for direction and they where all holding a map of the place.

Lizzie Stroup

It was somewhat nice. Couples with kids were smoking and the giraffes were eating the rocks and the tiger kept pacing because of the small space.

David Rickard

Loved this place so did my family

Terry McCrarey

Excellent! Great place for family. Electric scooters, restaurant, gift shop, party area.

Doretha Bradley

More than we expected for the price. Definitely would return!!!!

little lion

Love the zoo! Always a good time.

Johnathon Parker

Great place, bring your walking shoes cause you are going to need them!

Marina Bungenstock

Overall a good zoo for what it is...but it needs more exhibits and animals. I pay for the animals not to see plants and open fields. I wouldnt pay to come back unless they improved a lot. I was concerned the zebras had no grass at all, and some of the exhibits seemed small for what land they have. $30 for 2 people to eat and get a drink for my son was steep and I wont be eating there again. Seeing as we cant bring outside food in, guess I have to eat before if I ever come back. Just could be way better. Needs more food options throughout the park Needs more animals and exhibits. If you have a hard time with walking hills I wouldnt come unless you can rent a electric chair...

MinecraftDestiny 77

It seemed like a lot of the animals were just not in their habitats. The tigers and camels were not there, there were no ostriches or hornbills, and those were just the animals I remember that had signs up, but were not anywhere to be found. It's also odd that a zoo wouldn't have lions, elephants, or bears. What was there seemed well maintained, and the animals certainly seemed happy, just the selection seemed lacking for what was advertised. I did see that they were adding penguins in soon, which might also mean they would get polar bears, so I will be interested to see what they will do with that.

Renee Masterson

Bring your strollers and wagons. Huge hills. The kids will get tuckered out. It needs more updates. I now drive out of my way for the Louisville zoo

Rodney Brewer

This is a great zoo. Such a good variety of animals to see and the zoo is well taken care of.

LeRoy Cassidey

Enjoyed it. Nice plants and happy camels. Tiger jaguar enclosures too small.

Barbie Naivar

Great place to spend an afternoon with the family. Small but so worth it. The giraffes were so friendly.

Wyatt Arvin

Great little zoo. When I visited in the spring, there were multiple construction projects going on, so they are improving and investing. Great programs for little kids like Zoo School. Staff interaction was limited, but was friendly. I would say that it takes about an hour and a half to get through the entire zoo. Nice gift shop and place to get food and snacks.

Ruthanne Egner

my Daughter, granddaughter and her three young children and I recently visited this zoo for a weekend family time. The employee who sold us our tickets was very Nonprofessional. Obviously she had rather be somewhere besides at her station on this holiday. If you are not local an explanation of the fact That tickets are priced differently would be very helpful. The zoo itself was a nice setting but we all did not appreciate the very rude behavior of this lady. We did not even get a thank you. She has very limited people skills.

DinoSauros Rex

I have a malayan sun bear there and we are best friends

kathy radwan

It was a fun time seeing the different animals me my 5 and 18 year old sons had fun! Got to go on the paddle boat for the first time my son paddled. A very nice lady and little girl gave us tokens that was so nice and appreciative :) my son liked the rhinos. There was a peacock my son thought had got out lol and followed us for a bit so funny. Very beautiful. Loved it all will go again

Joshua Burton

This is an AMAZING Zoo!! It is also a great place to take a walk and get some exercise!!

Melissa Savino

Such a great little zoo ! They have so many animals to see and alot of events. Good for kids and adults. Price was 9.50 for an adult which is perfect. A great place to walk around and see all the animals at!

Maggie Dore

This is a cool zoo. It feels like you're in nature in most areas as opposed to how many larger zoos look. Signage isn't great in terms of directions/entrances but in most cases it doesn't matter which way you enter a building. The Amazon exhibit was my favorite. It's more of an immersion than any other I've experienced. They encourage you to have refillable water bottles so no worries about being able to bring them in. They also provide SPF 30 sunscreen.

Brian Van Alstine

It was awesome! My son and I had a blast. The new bird exhibit is awesome and we will definitely be coming back!

Kaitlyn Milan

I've been going here since I was a kid! I haven't been yet this year, but I'm SUPER excited about the new Budgie Walkabout!! Plus, this Zoo is AZA certified, so it's guilt free to go see the animals that are well taken care of because it's such a rigorous check on the well-being of the animals. Perfect place for a summer activity on a nice day.

Jessica Georgi

I am so in love with this zoo. It's clean, the animals seem well cared for, and I felt that we were closer to the animals than some places. I was very pleased with the price! I've been to other zoos that charge over $20 .

Josh Newman

Everyone likes the zoo, the paddle boats are fun and zoo is big enough for plenty of exercise

Blue Tyrant

Great place to bring your family or students though keep in mind it's a large walk to get anywhere and some animals will simply hide from humans.

Glenn Benner

Wonderful zoo particularly for the price. We have been members here for years and still come 5 to 10 times a year.

Matthew Menke

Good place to take a stroll and see some animals. I wish there were more animals to see but they are doing a good job updating the walkways and hosting fun events.

Jaylynn Ann

I love this Zoo. I always loved visiting the Zoo! It's not the largest zoo but it's a good zoo. I live very close to the zoo and there are always a bunch of cars there. When the kids walk out they are smiling and happy.

John Davis

Fun lots of exercise grandchildren had an awesome time and not bad on wallet either.

Diane Arnold

Very disappointing. Can't believe Evansville can't do better than this. The tram should be free after paid admission. The only friendly staff person I saw was in the air conditioned gift shop.

Brittnie Cartwright

A great place to visit in Evansville for family fun, though I would highly recommend becoming a member if you plan to go more than once a year as single session admission is a bit pricey.

T Fisher

Clean and staff friendly and approachable. An asset to the community.

shawn mason

Always a joy to see the kids enjoying wildlife and learning about our world.

Matthew Kindred

Always an evansville classics. Bring your walking shoes the hills can wreak havoc on your ankles.

Belinda Lindsey

Not a huge zoo. We loved it because of its size. For a young child is great since they get bored so quickly.

Jordon Sidebottom

Everything was great except for the giraffe feeding.. 2 tokens for 4 half leaves of Romain... While the keepers are continuously feeding the giraffes.. the guy was kind of rude that took our money also.

Chris Pyle

As usual, many exhibits empty. Many run down. It's better than nothing but better off at Louisville or St Louis.

Julie Morris

Mesker Zoo has been a part of the community since I can remember. It is certainly not the largest zoo, but it is well maintained and a very neat place to walk and take our grand kids. The displays and animals are always fun to visit and they are increasing the zoo 'population' all the time. The Botanic Gardens was a great addition. It is full of interesting exhibits as well. Mesker Zoo is a GREAT family attraction for both visitors and residents alike.

javan mckinney

Always luv visiting the zoo! The new birds r sooo cute!

Shelley Wilson

Little bland compared to other Zoos, but it's still a nice place to get outdoors and visit the animals. Definitely good exercise with all the hills!

Tyler Mielke

It's decent! Better than it used to be Staff is very nice, but it's not like a big city zoo like at Louis or Cincinnati.

Erin Bacher

We really enjoyed this zoo, especially for it's small size. The only thing I didnt like was that some of the enclosures were extremely small. Get ready for walking as it's very hilly, though I did not take off for that. We'll be back!

Kelly Smothers

Our visit to this zoo was very disappointing. We saw very few animals. The exhibits were poorly cared for. We didn't really see any staff. Even with the map, we couldn't find anything. It felt like we just kept walking in circles passing closed exhibits. We wanted to feed the giraffes. After finally finding the exhibit it says feedings are only at 11 & 2. It didn't say this anywhere before you got to the exhibit. I had heard great things about this zoo... I will not be recommending this to anyone, nor will I be back.

No too many animals out at 4pm but it was fun walking around the park see the ones that were out. I even heard the tiger making noises, and came up close. Very cool

Everyone always has bad stuff to say about our zoo, but I absolutely love it. For the size of Evansville, this zoo is perfect. In recent years, interest in the zoo has risen, and they've brought in more animals. The new Budgie exhibit is amazing, and I see great things happening in this zoo's future.

It may be a small zoo but it offers a lot of sights... The zoo staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about all their animals... Will be returning!

Nice little zoo! We were there in late winter/early spring so the crowds were extremely light. We did miss out on a few things due to our timing - no bumper boats and no paddle boats - but everything else seemed to be running. You get extremely close to the animals - between the leopard, giraffes, the petting zoo, and the chubby unicorns (rhinos)- see pics, closer than any other zoo I've been to. The Amazon Rainforest building is awesome - make it your finale! Loved it!

We're from Illinois so we visit the FREE St. Louis Zoo often. Once you have been to the St. Louis zoo, no other zoo you go to can compare. The price to get in was not bad. But I would not pay to go back there. It is an okay place to take young kids to let them run around and play. The animals all look miserable. They have super tiny habitats/enclosures for a lot of the animals. The animals are not in very good shape... This place broke our hearts seeing the condition of the animals. We definitely will not be back. One employee was carrying around the tail of the giraffe that had been bitten off by a zebra(they keep giraffes and zebras enclosed together, even though they obviously do not get along). She informed us this poor giraffe will not grow its tail back. Overall, our one year old and two year old had fun running around, but they would only enjoy it a couple more years. The place is just depressing. One other thing, the parrots were definitely stressed out. Pictured below are of them. You can see bones and inside one's rib cage. The other one was eating one of its feathers. This place is just sad.

We had a blast on the Toyota Earth Day Camp 3rd grade field trip! I've been going to the Zoo since I was a kid and I've always loved it but I did miss seeing the elephants...

Small zoo. Enough to keep kids excited.
