This Zoo belongs to the category of Zoo.
Amazing place to visit and walk among beautiful animals. Not too crowded even when its busy. Plenty of room for all and they always seem to have new attractions. I love this place!
It was a wonderful weather night so we saw several animals. All the employees were incredible too! Got lots of candy and the kids loved the dance party!
The Louisville Zoo is great! From the new snow leopard to the baby elephant to the tram for those less able to walk to the two different penguin exhibits, it's one of the larger and more diverse zoos we've visited. Also, the tiger keeper talk is well worth your time & the polar/grizzly bear enclosure is well-designed.
Havent been to the Louisville Zoo in a long time. They have a lot of nice exhibits. The animals seem to be well cared for and hav ed large spaces to roam.
Incredibly close up visits w/Animals, especially Gorillas & Orangutans..
Nice zoo, not super big but good variety of animals and exhibits.
This is my 3rd time having zoo membership. It pays for itself in 2 visits. I love this zoo but wish we could see the polar bears. It has been the brown grizzly the past few times we have been and would also like there to be more information where things are happening wanted to see the butterflies release and noone seemed to know where it was happening. Also could we get some type of stools in the bathroom at the sinks for smaller children. They want to wash their hands too and sometimes it can get difficult with a child who wants independence.
Animals were great price's for food or drink outrageous, so that a lunch and have a picnic, lots of cool places to do that
Decent zoo. They are constantly giving certain areas a face lift which is nice. The food is ridiculously priced however you are able to bring in your own food and drinks so no complaints. The real gem is talking the staff- they are really nice and give lots of great information about the individual animals versus the species in general.
It's super family friendly and has enough to keep your kids busy for hours. It's kind of pricey but if you have a friend with a Zoo pass, get then to take you as their guest.
Great place. When my children were young we would go. It has been over 12 years. What a change. Loved it. Keep up the great work.
Amazing place to visit and walk among beautiful animals. Not too crowded even when its busy. Plenty of room for all and they always seem to have new attractions. I love this place!
Totally amazing and the grounds are worthy of praise! I dunno which is more spellbinding: The wildlife or myriads of obese Americans struggling to walk to the exhibits and haul their burdened bodies to and fro to watch caged critters on the verge of extinction by the very obese and ignorant people doing the damage. Quite a commentary on our planetary purposes respectively.
It was a wonderful weather night so we saw several animals. All the employees were incredible too! Got lots of candy and the kids loved the dance party!
My daughter asks to go to the zoo everyday. We always have a good time when were here!
It was amazing. My kids had so much fun. The animals were really active. The park was clean. Can't wait to go back again
Great time with the family. I have visited the Louisvile Zoo numerous times and it never gets old. They are constantly updating and improving the exhibits. Pack a picnic; the food leaves much to be desired. But all theme parks and zoos are similar in this aspect.
This is a very nice place to spend some time. There is a lot of neat animals here and they seem to very well taken care of. I do wish the zoo was free like some others we have visited. It is worth every penny, since the overall experience was amazing. The staff was super nice and the place is very well maintained. If you are in this area, it is well worth the small admission fee.
I am a local, but I love the zoo! We went on a day kids were doing a field trip and the docents were at tables throughout with information, artifacts and materials to talk to the kids with. I wish they were out more regularly. The zoo is working hard to updating exhibits and care for the animals. I would recommend and go back again and again! My kids love going!
We love the Louisville Zoo! The price is fair and the membership options are better. The Zoo is always remodeling in several places to increase your viewing pleasure and experiences. There is an occasional downfall to that as there are times that exhibits are shut down. But all in all it’s easy to overlook that due to the amount of exhibits to see and interact with. The kids always love the splash park in the summer.
It was a great day at the zoo! The improvements done were great additions and seeing the baby elephant was the cherry on top!
This zoo has a lot of great exhibits, from the new snow leopard catwalk to the polar bears. It covers a lot of land, so there's a lot of walking. There is a lot of renovation and upgrading going on, which suggests the zoo is actively striving to improve the lived of the animals.
Boo at the Zoo is getting popular but Zoo needs to fix traffic issues, waited 1 1/2 hours to get in. Had to get my kids out of car on Trevilian in front of entrance and walk in because traffic was at a standstill. Took my husband 30 more minutes to park. Thought having specific times to come in would help traffic more than it has.
Line for tickets were ridiculous. Two ticket takers for 100's of visitors. Attractions shutdown, rope climb as a not open for kids. Last weekwnd, beautiful weather and they are not prepared to take care of visitors or make money.
This is a great zoo. It was nice to be able to see all the animals. My family and I went here for my little brothers birthday. One really nice thing is that I never felt like I was forced to do anything I could just walk around at my own speed. A large array of animals made for a good 3/4 hour adventure. They allow carry in so we didn't have to pay the high prices for food and refreshments that most places have.
An amazing zoo! Lots of stuff to do and see. Feeding the giraffes was a blast! Very friendly towards a 3 year old. Highly recommended stopping in and seeing the animals and riding some camel's!
Beautiful zoo with lots of greenery, good sized exhibits, and happy animals. They have a great variety of animals, and they're all pretty active and visible. The zoo is also really active in conservation efforts and I love to see all the signs about their participation in various animals' Species Survival Plans.
Took my grandchildren today. Great weather. We all enjoyed the Gorilla area. Children had a great time at the splash park.
The animals were so close to the viewing area. Lots of big trees provide shade and breezes. Baby elephant, rhino and Grizzlies were some of the highlights.
All the animals were sleeping But the help was great..
We love our zoo! We always see the animals doing something new at each visit. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The membership is well worth it.
First, if you're a local, I'd recommend getting a membership. If you go twice, its paid for itself. If you have kiddos, you'll find that the Zoo is one of the best places to entertain and wear them down! The Louisville Zoo has a waterpark which is great! It's clean, staffed, and pretty large. They're currently in the process of updating some of the exhibits, which I really appreciate because the zoo has looked the same for 20+ years. I look forward to the changes to come. The ones I've seen so far are more interactive and allow you to submerge yourself in the experience (walking paths under bridges and tunnels for the animals). The prices for concessions and the gift shop are high, but that's to be expected. You can bring your own food and drinks, so just avoid the concessions entirely unless you like spending $8 for a Coke. Lastly, the continued draw of the Zoo is the constant flow of events going on. Whether it be Brew at the Zoo or Boo at the Zoo, or movie nights, there is something for everyone.Getting to trick-or-treat in costume while still popping in to see the animals is a cool two-for.
Awesome splash pad included with admission. Unlimited carousel band is definitely worth the 4.50 per child. Per attraction price seems a little excessive / pricey for things like camel rides, giraffe feeding, etc. Sea lion show is actually just a quick sea lion feeding. There seem to be more gift shops than animal exhibits... Beyond being a bit more expensive than comparable city zoos, it's a nice experience for families. Walkways were all well maintained and the layout was simple to get around.
The kids get so much enjoyment and it's great watching their excitement as the gain knowledge.
It's such a good zoo for the money. I'm from San Diego, and although it doesn't compare in size, the price is really great for the animals you see. The animals were all active and the exhibits were really nice.
Lovely zoo! Really enjoyed! My favs was the baby elephant and snow leopard!
Love this place!!! Have had a family membership since having kids and worth every penny! Amazing attractions and great fun!!!
Took the grandkids. Lots to do and great exhibits. Everyone had a great time.
Indoor prices for food and stuff is pretty high but the animals have clean areas and it's a well kept up zoo. The water park is perfect for little ones during the summer and the Halloween festival is also great for the little ones.
Love this zoo! Great displays and unique animals. The were carts that came around do that you didn't have to walk the entire day. Lots of snack and drink locations throughout the park.
Had good time but need more water stops in the heat. Make sure you have enough money in you because expensive drinks and food as well as admission to get in $45 just 2 waters and 3 tickets.
Amazing place to visit with the family, friends, as a couple, or just yourself. Lots to see and learn about.
One of the highlights of our trip, this is a really nice zoo, with really nice exhibits. We were able to feed the giraffes, ride a camel, and spend a good amount of time here. Make sure you get there early enough to walk around and catch all the presentations; some of them stop at around 3pm or so I believe it was.
We love our Louisville Zoo! We can stop in, spend some time, see animals, leave and always come back if it's too busy. Always clean, staff is great!
The louisville zoo is a great area zoo. They have added new exhibits over the past couple of years that have helped to modernize it. Parking is $6 if you are not a member. They have a small water park that is really nice for smaller children. We go to the zoo 5 or 6 times a year. Their special events are always fun too.
Love this zoo...the orangutans and gorillas were my favorites. The bears were great. This zoo really offers wonderful exhibits. Up close to the animals, the male orangutan was so close and the gorilla moved to the class and was face to face with us.
Awesome zoo to take the kids year round, if the day turns our rainy you can always just hit the indoor exhibits. On nice days you can enjoy your food you bring at one of the tables, or grab a quick meal at the restaurant. My kids enjoy getting a slushy at one of the concetion stands and drinking it as we walk through the zoo.
Kinda pricey for what it is overall pretty good though
They've really done a lot the past few years with improving exhibits and getting more animals (including babies!). Staff is friendly, splash park is always a plus, and the food has also been revamped. Love having a membership!
Small for a zoo, but clean. The exhibits were adorable. Favorite is baby elephant and the mere cats.
Was great. Wished everything would have been open, but I know they have to fix everything at times and make better improvements for the animals!
What an amazing little zoo! I grew up going to the St. Louis Zoo so it's hard for another zoo to impress me. I was definitely impressed! The zoo wasnt huge but I loved the layout. There was a couple of no shows and it was extremely hot but overall, I am so glad we chose to go here. My daughter and I ate at the African Outpost. The decor made me feel like I was transported to an African Safari! The food was amazing! My daughter had pepperoni pizza and I had the burger and fries. I hope to go back before we move to Nevada!
My family always visits a zoo when on vacation. We took a trip to kentucky and had to come to the zoo. The workers there take amazing care of their animals. My home states zoo is not even comparable to this zoo.
The baby elephant is ADORABLE! And we love the interactive trainings with the animals. Perfect day date or outing with the kids!
Great family fun place. Plenty of benches and shade through out the zoo. Rest rooms and fountains with vending machines everywhere. Nice water play area for the tots and playground. Very friendly fun experience indeed :)
The new monkey and snow leopard exhibits are very nice. I think the zoo is always an enjoyable way to pass a few hours. My son can run around and burn off energy while learning about animals.
Lots of exhibits to look at, and a wide variety of animals to see. Parking was $6 for the day. There is quite a bit of walking to do. Drinks are $3.49 and up from what I could see. There are a couple locations in the zoo to buy food from. We bought sandwiches and fries and spent between 25 and $30 at the eatery in the Africa location. Food was pretty good. There is a zoo cup you can purchase for $5.99 and refill for about 1.50 or so. We didn't get to do the splash pad because I didn't know about it ahead of time so bring clothes for your kids! The carousel is solar powered and costs 3.50 for one time around or a daily pass for 4.50 We had a good day there.
The Louisville zoo is always fun. A great family place. Their water park is fun on those super hot days.
This was our first trip to this zoo. Everything was clean, the animals seemed healthy and well maintained. Many indoor and outdoor exhibits. Our grandkids enjoyed it and we did too.
Great when all the animals are on exhibited but seems past few times we went, alot of animals were not able to be seen. Not hot, not cold. So not sure the issue.
The Louisville Zoo offers many exotic animals, and the park staff are super friendly and helpful. The weather was extremely warm for my family's visit but the park offers a Splash Park which is both refreshing and super fun for the kids! Several concessions are available throughout the park at very modest prices not to break the bank. No one can leave without getting their picture taken as a memento of your visit and the photo shop prices are surprisingly affordable. My only criticism was that the Train was not in operation during my visit of the park. Several of the outdoor animals also could not be seen but this is due in part to the safety of the animals because of the heat advisory. All in all a great trip for a family looking to build many memories.
The animals are nice , but the food is way too expensive. 11$ for a kids meal. Also sometimes the animals are asleep or you can't even see them since they are hiding. I would give 5 stars if the food prices went down.
The family membership is well worth it and our kids LOVE the Boo at the Zoo event every year!
Great place, very clean, fun times for the family. Just don't forget your little ones swimsuit for the splash pad
Loved the zoo, was super excited to see everything. The snow leopards were my favorite. Enjoyed feeding the birds too. Not too bad of a walk, my step counter said I walked around the zoo in 15,000 steps. The train wasn't running and the butterfly garden was closed during the times it said it was open and I wish I was able to go to both. Maybe next time!
I've been going to the Louisville Zoo since it opened. It's better than some of the zoos of larger cities. It's definitely a friendlier place than some of them. It's about a three or four hour walk to see everything - depending on how fast you walk and how long you take at each exhibit. I will say I don't really care for the elephant exhibit. It's too small, and all the posts and cables block the views, and look kinda industrial.
The guy at the ticket counter was very helpful. The gentleman that took our tickets to get in was quite rude. It seemed quite a few animals were taken off of exhibit. It was our first time at this zoo. The waterpark area was closed. They had multiple playgrounds that were very nice. My family enjoyed the multiple indoor exhibits. Plentiful well placed bathrooms and water fountains. Quite a few of the snack/food stands were also closed. Tad pricey for entry and beverages. Would come back if ever this way again though as the kids enjoyed it. Plus with our local zoo membership we got half priced entry.
Love the Louisville Zoo. I've been going since I was little, and now my kids enjoy it as well. Love that they are constantly finding ways to improve the experience. And I love that they are conservation minded!
2 great playgrounds. Butterfly house and birdhouse wonderful. Most exhibits you can see animals easily. Some exhibits spaced far apart so wear good walking shoes and strollers for younger kids
It can be pricey to go but the yearly pass is the way to go. The park is big and fun to walk. It does get old after a few times. The kid loves it and that is the reason to go. It’s fun for the kids and great for getting exercise.
So many things to see and do. Great food. Great fun.
This zoo has changed so much! The exhibits really seem to better suit the animals. It's a very fun zoo with very interactive exhibits and great places for kids too. There was summer camp throughout with such nice and polite campers who seemed to be having fun. It was a very warm day, but the trees and the breeze made it quite enjoyable.
We have a season pass this year, we do like going but wish they would have more animals out when u go. Most the time there are a tone of the animals not on exhibit and that is frustrating cause people pay good money to come see the animals. That is what they are there for. And the food price is crazy
Pretty cool...camel ride was the highlight! Children loved it. Also enjoyed the goat feeding/petting area. We really enjoyed
Had a great time, much bigger experience than I remember from years ago! Major downside was the fact that apparently a bunch of staff called out, so we had to wait about 45 minutes in line to get our admission tickets. I understand that things happen, but it was frustrating nonetheless. Aside from that (which I'm sure was a one-off scenario), highly recommend!
What a lovely place to spend sometime with people that you love. I had an afternoon to spend with my adult son and the exhibits, the scenic walkways and of course the animals create a nice space to talk and share.
Zoo clean, staff helpful, most exhibits open. This is an awesome zoo! Lots to see, and designed to get up close to the animals.
The Zoo was everything we hoped it would be. The exhibits closed were minimal. All the ones our group wanted to see were out and willing to be photographed. All in all an awesome experience!
Fantastic zoo. Visited Louisville, and I was extremely impressed with the zoo here. The staff are friendly, they have a wide variety of animals that are well cared for. I would highly recommend this as a stop to anyone passing through the area. the food and drink prices here are also a good deal and aren't crazy high like you see at some zoos or amusement parks.
Fantastic zoo with several newly built/renovated exhibits. Clean and cared for. The splash pad for the kids is amazing. If its a nice day go early, it gets crowded quick.
This is a great zoo to bring your kids. They will love to see the animals up cose and personal. Throughout the day the zoo has activites. The zoo keepers give introductions, do tricks with the seals and so on. Every exhibit I have seen is wheelchair friendly and there are restrooms throughout the zoo. Great place to go and explore.
We went for Boo at the Zoo and had a blast! Safe atmosphere and fun was had by all!!
Gorgeous day for the zoo! Almost all of the animals were out, the exhibits were easily viewed (other than the gorillas due to being one of the more popular exhibits), and it wasn't crowded. Can't wait to go back to see the new baby elephant.
Great place to take the kids. Load them up and have a great time. They have a train ride, splash pad, and so much more. We go all the time.
Nice place even in the rain, be prepared to walk as this place is very spread out. Great family outing, but those electronic devices away and enjoy a day at the zoo!
Finally bought a season pass for the zoo! Too bad the penguins are missing though. Got a souvenir cup that i get refilled and save money and the environment! Food was good though service not so much! I had a double cheeseburger and parmesan and truffle fries! Sad the Brew at the Zoo was sold out and i didn't know it was going on until i got there.
I went with my son on a school field trip. It was fun, but the prices were outrageous in the gift shop. I understand that's the norm anymore, but still. All in all, I would recommend. The kids love it.
Great day. Although it was a scorcher of a day, and many of the animals were smarter than us and stayed out of the direct sun. But the show's and exhibits were amazing. The polar bear and sea lion exhibits were especially entertaining. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Our visit today was through a company picnic. We all had a good time watching and learning about the animals through the training shows, the kids did the camel ride, the climbing course, they rode the carousel several times. We got to see the baby elephant. It was definitely one our best days at the zoo we've had.
Had a great time at the zoo! The line was insane but it did go by fast!
Nice place generally. Not too big, which is great actually as the big zoos can be overwhelming. Would have given 5 stars except that it seemed like a lot of exhibits were closed and, though the snack shops were open the restaurants were not. There is a great Denny's very near by though; )
I'm sorry they need to do better Kentucky is not a poor state and there's a looks shameful they have zebras on gravel they didn't need to be on grass they have 1 leopard 1 tiger 1 cougar one polar bear the only good thing is they have a water park for the kids to cool off all their exhibits need to be improved and bigger sized
Had so much fun. Took my friends kids, 4 and 3, first time ever and they had a blast. They didn't want to leave. It was great and so enjoyable.
They price to visit was very nice. But they charge $6 for parking and dont give you a parking pass. They don't even know what kind of car you came in. I asked why did they make me pay for parking and don't know which car is mine. She said they don't care they're trying to pay for a gate to park so they charge people. I said what if I said I didn't drive. She said we wouldn't know. But you have to have a parking receipt to get in the zoo. It all cost under $44 for 2 adults. Nice weekend get away.
This is a nice zoo. It seems a little smaller than it actually is and some of the animal enclosures also seemed small. The polar bear exhibit in particular had a circus feel to it. I'm sure the animals are fine, but it really seemed like some of them are in cages.
If you ever wanted to feel superior over the wildlife of the world.fo a low low low low low price this dream can be yours. You want giraffes? They got them.. elephants you say... They got them. Eagles...unfortunately the eagles were out of commission but they'll come back and when they do... They got them.!
Had a great time with family. I just wish a burger, fries and a coke didn't cost almost $20. However, packing a lunch is allowed.
I heard a lion roar in real life today, it was amazing. I wish they didn't let people ride the camels but I love seeing the animals.
I love the Zoo, and really enjoy the updates they are making to the animal enclosures. As always, food and drink are super expensive, but staff is friendly and helpful.
We always have a great time at the Zoo. We got a family membership this summer and it's already paid for itself. Discounts throughout the zoo for members make it worth it too. The splash Park area is great for the little ones to cool down. Also, everyone should try Dip-N-Dots ice cream!
Didn't get to see the baby elephant or the polar bears. A few of the exebits were closed for remodeling. Makes me sad that a lot of the animals are by themselves. They should have more than one. These animals are not meant to be by theirself. One of the snow leopards was shut in a tunnel with no access to water.
Not a lot of animals were out because it was so hot. Wanted to see the polar bears but they weren't out. Had a great time with my family though. Prices are way too high for drinks and food.
Was great. Some of the animals weren't there but. It was a wonderful day. Cool and windy. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Definitely will be back
This is a great place to bring your kids. There is the splash park and a playground. And of course, all of the animals. Bring some comfy shoes and enjoy.
A good location with many options but many of the exhibits were closed when we visited. Make sure you bring a water bottle. There are many refillable stations. The food pricing is mediocre. The entrance fee is slightly high but you can leverage Groupon for a pretty good discount.
We live by and frequent one of the top rated zoos in the nation. The Louisville zoo is a nice zoo.
Love going to the zoo. Enjoyed seeing all the animals, active and the training sessions are very informative.
We LOVE the zoo. There is so much for the kids to do and it is easy to bring your own lunch and snacks. The staff has always been informative and attentive and their special events are always great. Our favorites are the baby elephant and the polar bear. We are thrilled to support the zoo as much as possible.
Not bad I went to see the new baby elephant he's adorable.
This is great. lots of animals(see in the site photos). Really nice to bring kids here. You can bring your own food. Parking fee of $6 per car. Also nice place to do birthday party.
Been a few years since I've last been. A lot of new things. Pretty nice zoo.
Great staff and big. Could have more animals though. Missed the otters.
Always fun. Like most places food and drink prices are high 6 dollars for a souvenir cup. I suggest bringing bottled waters and snacks for kids that will cut costs on what is spent at the zoo if your on a budget.
This is the best zoo i ever been to it is so fun and cool. It's a good time for friends and family. It is really big and has so much to do. The food was good and everybody was nice.
Tim in the rides department is the best! He helped my wife and I out big time at Brew @ The Zoo. Thanks Tim!
Probably a one off occasion, but there was a power outage as we made it about 1/4 of the way through the park. Staff members said it was a temporary issue. We continued on, and at 90° F, most of the exhibits did not have functioning air conditioning due to the power failure, 90% of the restrooms were locked or inoperable. Instead of notifying customers of the issues, they basically left everyone to fend for themselves. The cost for our family was over $50. Including $6 for parking. The parking lot had zero traffic control devices and appeared to be a qualification track for NASCAR. Definitely will not be returning or advising friends or family to attend.
Great exhibits. Love the walkabout areas for the up close and personal experience with the animals. One concern tho...where the kid friendly bathrooms?! There really needs to be sinks and toilets for kiddos!
What a lovely zoo!! Animals have a lot of space and things to do (which makes you feel better for them!) Huge range of animals to see and lots of fun walks between them.
My family and I love the zoo. The trick or treating is wonderful. Friendly staff. Highly recommend getting the season pass. It is well worth it!!
I love zoos!! . My only zoo visit really, at 53 years old, has been in the big city of my hometown Jacksonville Florida. Comparatively speaking..Jax is much better...but there is also much more in the South. I still think the Louisville Zoo is great! I love the tigers, seals, and Gorillas. Definitely go whether you go alone or with others!! I was thankful for the presence of deputies since so many places aren't allowing concealed carry. Unfortunately , this is the world we live in now ...one that we have to watch our backs, because we never know what crazy person is lurking. But, we can't let it stop us from living and enjoying life. So get out and enjoy!! Again, thank you Louisville Zoo for having deputies there today....Union Day. It was very appreciated!!!
There are new baby animals born almost every year. They just finished renovating parts of the zoo and it was worth the wait. They have so much to do every season whether it's the Butterfly bash at the end of summer, the Boo at the zoo in October, their spring break and summer camps. Two playgrounds and a splash pad. Plus the carousel! They also do a great job of educating on conservation. My kids love this zoo.
This place is awesome I highly recommended we come here every year and will definitely be coming back again next year and probably a couple more times this year the food and drinks are overpriced but it is so much fun my son loves the pony ride in the petting zoo I get this place a huge thumbs up you guys go beyond the call of duty for these animals I highly recommend that we will definitely be coming back
One of the best zoos we have ever visited.. we went 3 times this past summer driving over 3 hrs to get there... my kids love this place
The animals are fun to go look at and is a good place to take the family.
Best zoo I have ever been to. The tickets are cheap and it's amazing. They have so much to offer.
Amazing zoo. Went early, at 10am, and the animals were all out entertaining. Seal show at 2pm is tremendous. Splash pad is a great way too cool of after seeing all the animals. Would definitely return.
I had a good time, the animals were really hot and sad the day I went. The staff was primarily friendly. I liked the bear exhibit the most, there were quite a few animals.
My family has a membership so we visit several times per year! The exhibits are well designed and the price for extras are reasonable! We love to go at Park open and we often see the animals active on cooler mornings! Out favorite spots are the giraffes, gorillas and the new snow leopard exhibit!
Trick or treating at the zoo was wonderful. A little crowded but the kids had a great time.
I loved this zoo! My son and I had a blast. I loved all the animals and how active they were. There are so many species it’s amazing! The food is a bit pricey but you’d expect that anywhere. My son has autism and he enjoyed watching the elephant show and riding a camel. The camel crew were amazing with him. At first he scared to ride but one of the girls (Mikayla) was so kind and patient with him. After a few moments of her talking to him about camels, he rode! Now he hasn’t stopped talking about it. We definitely plan on going back soon!
Pretty nice. They have a good cross section of animals. They were working on a new, and quite large, polar bear exhibit both times I was there last summer and the bears were not available. They could use a grizzly bear. They had an Australian exhibit but no kangaroos. There are a nice bunch of turtles and snakes. A good gorilla exhibit. A very nice and well displayed selection of large African animals.
Had a blast with my nephew and family. Loved the animals. Was not to happy about the train i really wanted to ride it.
Elephants not out to see. Penguins not out because of leaking tank. No food stands open there. High prices on everything. Not as good as we thought. One start to many.
The Louisville Zoo has done a great job in developing and expanding. My biggest complaint, and the reason it receives 3 stars, is that there are still too many dead ends in the zoo. They have done a better job of connecting everything, but there is still a lot of work to do to keep from having a lot of backtracking.
Nice time out. The park is clean and plenty of shade for the hot days. The polar bear exhibit is great
Had an amzing experience up until we got to the polar bear enclosure, and saw the poor bear sitting in the blazing heat panting really hard, it looked absolutely miserable. We weren't the only ones that thought that, plenty of others were saying the same thing. After seeing that it pretty much ruined the experience. I feel that something should be done about that. Sometimes we need to stop thinking about us and think about these animals.
Very hot and a lot of the animals were not out which was disappointing. The splash park was fun.
My family and I love the zoo. The trick or treating is wonderful. Friendly staff. Highly recommend getting the season pass. It is well worth it!!
Spent a day at the Zoo. Great family atmosphere. Most animals were out in the sun interacting with everyone which made for a fun experience.
My family and I had an absolutely wonderful time. My daughter's and I got to even feed the giraffes! The Louisville Zoo made planning our day of fun and our first day of vacation easy and very enjoyable. The habitats were clean, for animal habitats. They do what all animals do, kick up dust and make a mess. Despite the hot weather, none of the animals seemed badly off. The snow leopards were an especially attractive display as they roamed their training grounds through the tubes above pedestrians on the walking path. We had a blast watching The polar bear play in the water, while watching the seal and sea lion training really gave the children a splash! The whole family took delight at the large sized pretzels and the very generous amounts of nacho cheese to accompany them! The website definitely helped make the day easier with little to no disappointments. Our only problem was we couldn't stay longer!
We usually love going to the zoo,and the Louisville Zoo,is one of my favorites, since I was a child! But today was kind of a let down. It was over 90 degrees, and they was without electricity for hrs. No electricity,no splash pad,no ice cream,or cold drinks,no train, and most of the animals were too hot to even move. Witch seems kinda wierd, being most are from Africa and/or tropical rain forest! But the exhibits we're still very nice!!
Water play area too small. Not enough water areas to fill up water bottles. The exhibits were big and it's nice to see the animals have plently of space. First time here, probably won't be back. It's a good zoo for a one time visit but that's all.
Really nice zoo but several of the animals were not out in there habitat's for the guest to see. The food at the on site resturant was good and there were plenty of misting, water, and shaded areas throughout. The water park for the kids look nice but since it was crowded we did not go in. Wagons were easy to get but I highly recommend getting your admission tickets in advance and not at the gate.
Had a great time! We went back two days in a row because we didnt see it all the first day.
Fantastic visit. Love what they've done with the habitats.
May not be as large as Cincinnati Zoo but hands down was a better experience. Felt like I was able to get closer to the animals. The park is played out well, I would recommend getting there early so you can see everything.
I like my local zoo and my grandchildren love it. The prices are high, but it takes a lot of money to feed all the creatures. I can't think of any criticism.
One of the best local attractions for families in Louisville. The Louisvile zoo never disappoints. This time was giraffe mating season. The walk around the zoo is enjoyable and the animals seem happy and well taken care of. This visit we listened to the elephant caretakers talking for over half an hour about training their 2 females. Very interesting. But tickets online to save a few bucks.
The Louisville Zoo has been my favorite place to go since 1995! Excited for all the new renovations keep up the good work!
Enjoyed every bit of the zoo. Loved watching my grandbabies' faces
Great place for young kids to learn, half the animals were put up due to the coming thunderstorms. What animals we did see were great. Maybe next time we visit the animals will be out as well as the train running
Fairly small zoo. A very good variety of animals that you don't find everywhere. A ton of great areas for small children. Overall a solid zoo with room for improvement.
I really enjoyed this zoo! You can see the animals in their natural habitat up close. My favorite thing was hand feeding the giraffes. I would highly recommend going to this zoo, if you're in Louisville!
My kids always have a blast when we go.
The staff in costumes and handing out candy were great! Very kid friendly, mostly Disney & Superhero themed.
An excellent zoo. Love the polar bear!
The Halloween event was great. kids had a good time.
I could have watched that baby elephant for hours. So sweet!
Love the louisville zoo. I get a little annoyed by the exhibits that cost extra once youve paid to get in. But i support the zoo and see it as a donation to a good thing rather than a money grab.
A wonderful zoo and friendly staff. Always nice to visit when we go near the area.
We had so much fun! Most of the animals were out and active even with it being SO HOT. We plan on getting a membership, the kids loved it! The splash pad was a HUGE plus.
Excellent zoo with a variety of animals. I was told that it was a small zoo that would only take an hour to explore. It actually took us about 3 hours to fully explore. Decent size. Unfortunately, we sometimes felt like playing "hide and seek" with the animals.
We love the Louisville zoo. It’s large enough to spend all day but easy to traverse if your looking to kill a couple of hours. I recommend the season pass.
The Louisville Zoo was great I hadn't been in a few years even though I I still buy my pass every year it was good to know that they had a riding scooter for you to rent because I can't make that walk around the zoo anymore but I really enjoyed the day out and watching the animals and seeing the baby elephant
Almost all the animals were out when we went. I love the little sprinklers that they have placed along the walking trails to help keep everyone cool. Also the little water park that is free was an awesome idea. The only complaint I have was the food. My mother and I both got salads and they were different sizes for the same thing!
Enjoyed my visit with the whole family. Loved the idea of water bottle fill ups through out the zoo. Didn't get to see all I wanted to, although it was my fault. My sugar went low and then I was ready to leave.
We love going to the Louisville Zoo! My son loves all the animals and we learn so much from staff when we go! Thank you for being a wonderful learning experience.
Great exhibits. A lot of walking tho. Would have liked for the train to have been working. Awesome otherwise tho.
Very nice zoo with many different excellent exhibits. It is a nice size zoo plan on coming wearing comfortable shoes and spending the day.Well kept nice and clean.Very friendly employees. My daughter loves this place. And we like to go for long walks. We come here almost every week. It is not like other big famous zoos, but that makes this zoo so nice to have a family out day.
The Louisville Zoo is a fun and educational place for families. It is good to familiarize yourself with the map to know where the water filling stations are and the tram stops--to stay hydrated and to rest little legs. Buyiing a membership is the way to go for a family. The web site is excellent for detailing the benefits. My family plans to enjoy many days this summer at the zoo!
My family loves this Zoo! for a city the size of Louisville, this zoo has a lot to offer. They have a lot of events for families as well as adults. On top of being a great time, it's also very affordable. Concessions, food, and tickets aren't budget breakers like a lot of similar places. Highly recommend!
Went because website said there was a TRAIN RIDE around the park, but it obviously had been out of service for some time (track was rusty!). Butterfly Garden was nice, and the other exhibits we saw were OK ... but at 93 degrees, it was too hot to see everything on foot.
I grew up by the Cincinnati Zoo with huge expanses and a bigger variety of animals but the Louisville Zoo is incredibly family friendly. It's a great walking loop that kids can manage too. The carousel is a huge draw and sometimes we go just to ride it a few times. The enclosures are smaller but you can get five feet from elephants and giraffes which is a huge crowd pleaser for our family. Never disappoints!!
Made all mothers this mothers day feel very special! The lady who sold us our tickets at the entrance was so sweet and welcoming!! I took my son for the first time to the zoo and it was amazing. We all enjoyed seeing the animals and having a zoo day!
Loved seeing so many animals in such a clean, organized place. One of the best.
Had a great time with my family. The gorilla was too cool and super smart. Kind of a show off but the crowd including me loved it. Rare albino alligator was a sight to see and the new snow leopard exhibit was neat. Petting zoo was friendly and it was a great experience for the whole family. Anyone that's in Louisville should make it an event.
It has really changed since I last was there. Really cute how it is designed. I just wish the animals add more room.
Louisville zoo has developed a lot over the last couple of years with great events each season
Everything was so clean, and not packed. The splash pad was for all ages. Parking was 6$ per car and admission prices for weekend/holiday were reasonable. Water fountains and bottle fill stations placed all over the zoo. Can bring your own food in. Nothing too outrageously priced. Worth the 5 hr drive get there.
It was so nice. Zoo was clean. Animals all looked healthy and active. Best zoo trip I've had in years. Only 2 exhibits were down for remodeling and or cleaning.
I can't say enough good aboit the Louisville Zoo. On our most recent visit my mom had a medical episode. We called paramedics, but in the meantime, the zoo's medical staff was there within a minute or 2 of calling for help. Very attentive, very kind, and incredibly helpful. They made a very scary situation a little less such. Big thank you to the staff at the Louisville Zoo!
Truly a good time just a little too high for big families
It was great. The largest Halloween party at the zoo is wonderful for the kids and the adults.
The zoo is a pretty nice place to visit for the day. Staff is friendly and professional. The one thing that detracts from a nice visit is the $6 parking added to an already expensive admission. The charge for parking caught me by surprise and unfortunately makes the zoo cost prohibitive for my family and I. I don't visit enough to buy an annual membership.
A very enjoyable experience. It's a must see if you enjoy going to the zoo.
A lot of new attractions and improvements in the works. Crowds are typically not too bad on the weekdays. This is a nice place to walk, with lots of immersive and interactive exhibits and educational resources. It's clean and well kept and the staff is typically friendly and helpful.
Came to the zoo and brought the kids, for their 'Boo at the zoo' to walk around and trick or treat. A great time as always. The only bad, was the traffic getting into the zoo. But that's not their fault. Boom, 5 stars.
Such a nice zoo. The zoo is well spread out among one exhibit to another which is great! The walking path, whether you choose left or right from the entrance, takes you easily through the whole park without ever needing to look at a map. The animals seem quite happy and lively which tells a lot about the zoo. Our favorite part had to be the gorilla forest which was a nice, twisting path through tall, living bamboo plants. The wind sounds really cool when it blows through the bamboo. The card readers were down on the vending machines while we were there, but the bottles of water are $3.49 no matter if you buy from a machine or person. If you don't want to pay that much or drink out of plastic because, well, it's toxic by nature, there are water fountains spread throughout the zoo which also include the bottle fillers. So, definitely bring your bottles. You can buy zoo tickets from the downtown visitor's center at a discounted rate if you want. Overall, very nice zoo and a great day!
Louisville Zoo is a good place to spend the day. If you live in the area, the family membership is very reasonable. During the warm months, the splash park is perfect for small children as well. If you keep a steady pace, you can get through most of the Zoo in just a few hours, which is perfect. Its long enough, but not too long.
Very excited to be a new member at the Louisville Zoo! The zoo is a great place to take the kiddos for part of or a whole day. Even our 13 month old enjoyed watching the animals.
Better than average zoo. Very nice setup, informative staff, great landscaping, and a large variety of animals. Food and drink pricing is about what you would expect from a zoo, but the gift shop items are a bit pricier than other zoos that I have been to though.
Love this place! Been taking all my kiddos for years. We used to always get a pass and go every chance we got. Now my kiddos are growing up! Time for the grandbabies!
Everyone should take their children Trick or Treating at the Zoo, we all had a great time!!
Took my granddaughter to Halloween Party 5pm Saturday 5th. Very organized and much fun.
The zoo continually makes enhancements and mak e the experience better each time. New animal births keep the exhibits fresh. Fun for all ages in a beautiful setting.
My wife and I had a blast we love the way the zoo was set up we will visit again
I took four of my gbabies and they really had fun wore themselves out looking at all the animals
Nice zoo! The bird show is my favorite. I've been there twice and both times the water splash park has been closed early because parents do not know how to follow direction with pull-ups and such. Its annoying. Not the zoo's fault though!
Excellent zoo with a variety of animals. I was told that it was a small zoo that would only take an hour to explore. It actually took us about 3 hours to fully explore. Decent size. Unfortunately, we sometimes felt like playing "hide and seek" with the animals.
Always fun. The after hours events are fun. But are kinda lightly themed after hours zoo time.
Thank God UofL bought this zoo. There was way more empty exhibits then there was exhibits with animals in them. Definitely feel like I got robbed going to this zoo. I know that UofL will drastically change it when they get their hands on it.
It would be better if they gave better directions. For one thing we were all the way to the back of zoo trying to make full circle. They closed off area and no announcements about it whatsoever. So we had to double back, and walk uphill. Never completed seeing all of zoo because of this.
For the cost of entry, either we lucked out on timing or they should charge less. No baby elephant viewing. In fact, entire elephant area empty. Posted signs stated it was for bonding. I get it. But it was the first of many exhibits seemingly without animals. Near the camel rides, no lions. 1 bear in polar bear exhibit - not a polar bear. 1 tiger. 1 spotted leopard. 1 rhino. No pumas. No bobcats. 1 spotted owl. 3 gorillas. 3 meerkats. No naked mole rats. That sign said closed today. I think the sign's been posted for months. Train not running. Etc. Etc. Not what I expected. The park is nice with many places to sit. There is a small waterpark-type area for kids. Overall disappointing from my perspective given lack of animals and empty/closed exhibits. It IS the reason people go to zoos. Maybe a positive is they'll open the renovated areas with more for their guests.
So awesome. I so enjoyed watching the animals being fed and listening to all the young lady had to say. The Baby Elephant was out and playing. The gorillas are very interesting to watch. It was also nice to see the zoo set up for Halloween.
Was a pretty nice zoo except there wasn't as much animals as I expected.
It was awesome to see all the animals in a clean environment. While it was hot, I was always able to get my family to shade or an a/c area. The best part was the splash park. So cool! If you ever plan to go, I would go early summer or fall. We were able to watch seal shows and were given information about them. PS, the snow leopard is in a new place and looks really happy.
Kids loved the Boo at the Zoo event once again this year. Crowd wasn't bad and the volunteers were alot friendlier than in years past.
Very nice zoo. The enclosures allow you to see the animals better than most.
Boo at Zoo was an awesome experience. The characters are the best and something my children look forward to every year.
Nice place to spend some time with the family or just enjoy a day to yourself. Animals look well taken care of, I really enjoyed the baby elephant, rare white alligator, and the swimming penquins. If you are in loisville you should stop by and support the zoo.
We have been to many zoo's and the walking trail was on of the best we have seen. The animals were really close compared to other places we have been. We can see going back as a big possibility.
