This Zoo corresponds to the category of Zoo.
Magical. A lovely leisurely spot for true animal lovers (also fun to go to with your lover). If zoos make you uncomfortable, this is a chilled out place to see animals within their comfort zone. Adult & kid friendly. I almost want to keep it a secret so I can rest assured it stays so quaint and humble.
So sad how this place has gone downhill throughout my life. There are only a few animals now and you can't pet any of them. I remember as a child, there were a ton of animals to pet and feed. I wanted to share that childhood joy with kids in my family, but it really isn't the same anymore
A great place to see animals or to hangout. Considering it's size it has a large variety of animals. The peacocks run free and you can chase them ;)
A wonderful place. 1. Visit the pig. 2. Visit the goats. 3. Visit the peacock. 4. Enjoy the beauty. 5. Visit the ducks. 6. Visit the turkeys. 7. Spend time to meditate. 8. Visit as many animals that you can.
Free petting zoo. The kids really enjoyed it.
This place is great! We have an 18 month old and it was perfect. Very casual, not too crazy busy like the zoo can be. Good chance for him to see many of the animals he's been learning - cows, goats, deer, chickens, etc. Signs say not to feed, but if you catch the workers during feeding time, they are happy to give you carrots, celery, etc. to give to the animals. All the reviews that say it smells bad are ridiculous. It's a petting zoo. It's not going to smell like roses... We will definitely be back. It's free too, but of course you should leave a donation. Great place!
I wish there was as many anomals as there were when I was a kid. But ill always love this place
Had a great time seeing all of the animals and meeting new people. My nephew loved the goats!
A little hard to find. It shouldn't take long to see it all.
I use to love bringing my kids here to pet and feed the animals but the inspector made them stop. They had to remove some animals and put a gate up so people cant touch them or feed them anymore! Its mostly just farm animals now. Its sad they made them do that because that was the whole fun of bringing the kids to pet all the animals and it was free! Its still free but they do have a donation box if you want to help out. Id still recommend this place for little kids because little kids are impressed with any animal and they do have a gigantic
Never will i go back again. My grandfatherd and Mother use to take me when i was little to feed animals and i loved it then, but i take my son now, and its terrible looking, and you cant even feed the animals anymore.
My son loved this place, for the adults it's great to let them burn off energy and pet the animals there. I really enjoyed seeing the animals up and close. A lot of variety of animals. My son and I went back multiple times cause he had a blast. It's a little difficult to find I passed it once or twice.
Great place
Awesome place! We love going there and taking food for the animals - just remember NO BREAD OR CRACKERS OR CEREAL. The animals love carrots and leafy greens, and it is a fun way to get up close and personal with them.
There were about 10 animals not what I expected it to be
We took our kids today, and I was very disappointed. It has been a couple of years since we last went. They do not allow feeding of the animals anymore. The animal selection was scarce. Also, the animals did not look healthy. I was not impressed!
Grew up here special special place
Nice place
Poor animals need some TLC
I love this place
In need of a major update. This place is free and runs on donations. It would've been nice to have someone kind of guide be there to give us some insight and direction. I'm just thinking of newbies and tourist who maybe aren't as familiar. This place is small and quaint but I noticed there were fewer animals this time and certain areas were blocked off. Itvlooks as though there was a newer wooden fence built around it so we couldn't get as close tonthe animals. My kids and I were also really looking forward to the zebra but he wasn't there. There were also signs for pigs and bison which were not present. I found that to be a little dissappointing. You can no longer feed the animals, which is fine, don't want them getting sick and I respect that. Caution, go potty before you visit, there is NO, i repeat, NO restroom. The positive part is that if you're looking for a small quiet place to be with family and nature, its perfect. In spite of everything, I still thorough enjoyed the chickens, swans, beeeautiful peacocks and walking along tge gravel road with my kiddos. P.S. Wear sneakers.
This place was muddy the animals didn't look well and it's listed online as a petting zoo but you can't pet any of the animals.
I love this place!
Interesting place. Family owned and family oriented establishment that is free. There is a box on the premise where visitors can leave donations. I took my grandson there on 7-18-2019. They have an interesting number of animals there.... Even a bison. The experience is based on whether or not the animals are close enough to the enclosures for you to see. Petting and feeding isn't currently allowed. There were two wonderful girls there that were very friendly. One gave me a peacock feather....suggest you wear comfortable and aged shoes. There is animal poop, so, I highly recommend to not bring any snacks to eat and eat should you be hungry after leaving the place. Parking is on grass or dirt. I didn't see any bathrooms. There was ample shade.
The animals were so hot they weren't doing much. And it only took 10-15 min to get through. They only had two buffalo, turkeys, ducks, peacocks, a hog, and goats.
It was great, I love it!
I love this place, great animals and friendly people
Nice place, donation for entry. Not as big as expected since we made a 2 hr trip to get there. If you are in the area anyway I would stop by. FYI no bathrooms or port a john
I used to come here when I was a kid all the time. It's super fun and kids do love it. There are some great photo opportunities as well
We were so disappointed when we got there. I read the Facebook page and what information was on Google (which wasn't much) and there wasn't alot of different things there. Also, you couldn't pet anything. The place was really run down and we had to walk through mud and water puddles as well.
It wasn't what what was advertised. There were no longer any exotic type animals (zebras or camels etc.) There also was not longer a petting zoo, just viewing the animals. There wasn't really anyone manning the exhibit, though we did run into a farm hand at the end. This would still be cool for younger kids who are into animals. I think older kids (8+) would find it boring because there isn't anything to do and most of the animals are common farm animals.
Best non profit animal farm ever
Used to love it and going to revisit today. Was going downhill last time I visited so I’m not sure what to expect.
It looks like a farm in disrepair, but with some cool animals. It is free and a good way to kill some time with your kids, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
I'm always impressed by this place. They ask for donations to help run the place, and they have a surprising number of animals. I take my 2 year old there often and we always have a fun time and see something interesting. I actually prefer it to the Louisville zoo, which has more, and more exotic animals, but for a young child, everything is new and magical.
Henry's Ark. I wanted you to be SO awesome. We'd heard of this awesomeness from a number of people and finally found time to visit. We had heard about some exotic animals, including ostriches, buffalo, zebras, camels, and even a giraffe. First thing's first: If you don't know where you're going, it's very easy to miss. Not because you can't see it while you're driving by, but because the driveway sneaks up on you. There is a lack of signage until you're right up on it, so the driveway takes you completely by surprise. In fact, I passed it and had to back up about 50 feet in order to pull in. Once inside the gate and after driving over the cattle guard, you're in the middle of the parking area. There is no structured parking, just a large area. It's a short walk to the animals, and as soon as you enter you see signs about not feeding the animals, and signs asking for donations... and to be generous with your donations. One almost immediately gets the feeling that you're not visiting Henry's Ark at the top of its game. As if it is but a shell of what it used to be. There were plenty animals. Bison, goats, ostriches, a couple of beautiful peacocks, chickens and geese, llamas, alpacas, rabbits, and many others. A good selection, to be sure, but no sign of the kinds of things you really want to see, like zebras, camels, and a giraffe. A quick conversation with the person who was feeding some of the animals revealed that they had gotten rid of them, but no specifics were offered. We were admittedly disappointed that none of the exotics we had come to see where no longer there, but you can see that, in its heyday, this was a wonderful attraction. There are a large number of signs soliciting donations, both monetary and material. Being a private attraction, this makes complete sense. I get the feeling that the Ark has fallen on hard times, as many attractions of this nature have in the last few years, and now must rely on the generosity of the public to stay afloat. We were very generous with our donation, and I hope that others are as well. You can tell that Henry's Ark was once something really awesome. I'd love for the tide to turn so that this could be awesome again.
I have fond memories of taking each one of my boys there. Its a treat for young children.Actually I have to admit I have found myself driving near there and stopping in by myself.
Very nice place! Relaxing and not crowded at all! It was very peaceful. I loved seeing all the animals. The ostriches were my favorite. I can't wait to bring my family back.
Ok so granted it was cool outside and we're coming out of winter, but for the most part on this excursion, there were not many animals besides Canadian Geese, a smattering of ducks, water buffaloes, pigs, and an Emu. This place does rely on donations and I totally get that, but this place needs a serious face lift, and more foot traffic to reclaim its former glory.
My 4 year old and almost 2 year old loved seeing the farm animals up close. The animals seem to be well taken care of.
My grandson loved this place. Help support Henry's Ark by taking YOUR grandchildren, they'll love it.
Good place to take your kids..
Fun for kids
Beautiful every visit.
The place need repairs desperately. The animals are not many and the few animals there need imminent care. Leave a " tip" for the animals care. ( hopefully they use it for the care of the animals)
The place needs work, not as good as it used to be. Really had to look for the animals. Not STROLLER Friendly. My son had more fun jumping in the huge puddles.
Great family fun I went today it was great seeing all the animals, most of them come up and see you. I would totally recommend going with all the family even my teenager loved it. The reason you can’t feed the animals is because the public started feeding them potato chips and other things the animals are not allowed to eat making it unhealthy for the animals so the animal health inspectors had to shut the feeding down. But always feel free to bring the right foods (carrots, celery etc.) and give it to one of the friendly staff members and they will make sure it gets to the animals.
So sad. There aren't ever any petable animals, the care givers are always standing around smoking or talking. No animals to pet.
Place use to be pretty nice, but now is very run down. Very few animals in poor conditions.
This place was not as pictured but it was a fun day with the granddaughters
This is a great little gem of Louisville KY. It's a free zoo to walk through and see animals. It runs of donations. So anything that you can contribute helps keep things going at Henry's Arc. Bring your family they will love it.
A seemingly DIY animal rescue. Charming and rustic setting with a variety of animals.
They no longer have the came and zebra listed as being there. No public restroom. Kids liked it so they got four stars. Not enough to see for the drive, but free is free. Wish they had more info on specific animals.
Cool it looks like a nice place
It's a nice place to see all sorts of animals and it's free!
Wonderful place for children and adults. Love this animal sanctuary.
Not as great as it used to be.
Absolutely loved it
This place used to be wonderful and had various types of animals, walking around you, harassing you for food but adorable to pet. However over the years the variety and amount of animals have significantly decreased, the upkeep has declined and sadly it is becoming a shell of its past self. Henry's Ark survived off of donations and I know very few visitors would donate when visiting, I'm guilty as well. It's hard for me to blame the owners due to this. Now we cannot feed the animals due to careless visitors, nor are they roaming around because children were not supervised and in the past I see many parents allowing their kids to chase, throw things and yell at the animals. I've had to correct children on multiple occasions for doing such because the parents didn't. So it is sad to see this place that used to be a favorite place for my husband and I to visit at least 6-8 during the summer be what it is today. What used to allow for an hour or more visitation only allows 15 minutes simply because of the lack of animals and lack of engagement. I hate leaving this post because it has a special place in my heart, but I think it has ran its course.
I was very disappointed it's not the same Henry's Ark that I once known. It looks like it's not kept up very well very few animals half the exhibits you can't even get to anymore. I wish someone else would take it over. You don't even see the people that work there out and about like you used to all you see are the animals.
call before you go. Went and was closed even though online said it was open. Was very ran down. Used to love it when I was a kid and my mom took us. Was looking foward to taking my children.
My family loves it, been going for years. It's great.
very nice kinda small but they do alot for sick animals and its free, you can donate if you want
It was pretty run down and a lot of the animals that were on their website were not there. But, for a free zoo it was neat.
It was fun, our kids definitely had a great time looking at the different animals. Our kids are young so they're easy to please. Was a little run down, but it's free.
Gostei do local, o passeio é gratuito mas tem várias caixinhas para doação espontânea dos visitantes. Visitei no inverno e talvez por isso alguns animais não estavam abertos para visitação.
Nice place to take a young child
James Ray is the most knowledgeable and entertaining host. He made our time the ao much fun. The best part was being able to see the bunnies. And the Albion peacocks were awesome.
Very cool and FREE.
This place use to have alot of animals. You name it they had it...All of what I saw today was birds, goats, sheep, a buffalo and donkys. Now there is hardly anything.. I think they need more money to help them out. Also u use to be able to feed them now u can not. I wish I could give more to help. :(
I highly recommend Henry's Ark if you have young kids, especially if you're on a tight budget. My children love it here, and while I still need to keep an eye on them, it's not so big and crowded that I feel like I need a leash to keep them glued to my side! The first time I went after they stopped allowing visitors to feed the animals, I was disappointed since they wouldn't come up to the fence for us to pet, but I know it's probably better for the animals this way. There are a lot of signs requesting donations, but I can understand that since they won't be able to keep it free if they don't have other ways to make ends meet. I do wish the entrance was marked clearly; it's so easy to miss when a person goes for the first time.
Non profit with lot of animals to see
Was a very good day and my Grandson had a great time
Nice place to walk around. There doesn't seem to be as many animals as before. The cat was very friendly
A Good Zoo, many animals. Host does not want you feed them, but the gooses may not happy if you don't bring them foods... they will bite you! Like it.
For a free (though they ask for donation) place to view animals, it was great!
If I could give it no stars I would. We drove all the way out there and I think it's closed down . nobody was there so we walk around to check it out . Donkeys roam free in the parking lot. Just run down to the max. Sad
