We had a great day at the zoo. Changes since I was last there. Seeing the zoo with my 2 1/2 great niece was so much fun. She loved all the animals, the goats were her favorite. She's brushed every goat at least twice. Loved feeding them. She didn't want to leave, but the adults were tired after 3 1/2 hours. Food & drinks were expensive. $15 for 4 bottles of water.

This Zoo is one of my favorites to visit. We do not have kids but still enjoy walking around and seeing all the animals. For the full Zoo experience buy the tokens and feed the giraffe, ride the Sky Safari, ride the train and take the Crocodile Log Ride. There is plenty to see and do that will fill a whole day.

One of my favourite zoo's. Atmosphere is excellent and the animals all seem happy. Plus there are a few animals that can free roam. I got yelled at by a peacock last time I went, it was great.

It's been over six years since we've visited the zoo, and they've made several expansions and improvements, the most notable being the Australian area. It has been completely re-engineered with all new attractions. This was needed, because the Australian exhibit was notoriously dated and was becoming run-down. They've really made great improvements to all the major areas of the zoo.

Love this place. They keep improving exhibits every year. Do miss the snow leopards , cheetahs belt ride and all the huge aviaries. Really really miss the aviaries. Also miss the gazebos over the water in the main part and African exhibits. Was a nice place to eat a picnic lunch. But the new stuff is pretty awesome too. My kids love it.

Really enjoyed the zoo. It wasn't packed like I thought it was going to be. We didn't have to fight for a spot to see the animals. They have a train, a log ride, and a sky lift. Each area the zoo has it's own places to get food and drinks. Parking is free and admission is a good price!

Sooo much to do and see here. I would recommend getting the year pass if you have younger kids becaus it's hard to see everything in one day. If you are into little rides and activities be sure to bring to extra cash to purchase the tokens the you need to use them. It's best to get there early because the parking can be a total nightmare sometimes. This zoo is always clean and staff is friendly. We keep going back year after year.

A top notch zoo. My kids enjoy going every year and we always buy the annual pass. Always trying to improve here, which is what I like. Halloween event is great for a cheap price. Kids loved it. I highly recommend anyone check it out.

We went end of may on a Friday and the line to get in was crazy. We were there at 10 and there were 4 lines I think. It was hard to tell since there was no organization at all. There is no bathroom outside of gate which is a bad idea since its a children's zoo and the line to get in is so poorly ran. Fix that and you get 5 stars. Its a very walkable zoo with trees for shade. Rides are nice exhibits are nice. Food service could be ran better too that's not very well organized either. Hopefully these are just first of summer glitches that will be resolved.

From San Diego and the Ft. Wayne Children's Zoo is on par with the World Famous San Diego Zoo. Not nearly as crowded which is a definite bonus.

I purchased the season pass for my family of 4 which as long as you go to the zoo more than 4 times for the season pays for itself, as with any entertainment venues the onsite food and drinks are overpriced but still an acceptable quality. Exhibits are a decent walk from one to the other but the zoo has made improvements over the years staff is very friendly.

I enjoy the zoo every time I get to go there. Just wished the food courts didnt use peanut oil, or sunflower oil and sea salt for people that are allergic to it. There is other oils, more people are allergic to peanuts then veg oils and regular salt. So our family cant eat there. So we pack a lunch. But heard people also saying the prices are too high. But for the rest of the zoo loved it.

The train ride was exciting for the kids. They loved the animals, especially the giraffe. The horses are another matter. The man helping kids get into and out of the saddle didn't know what he was doing. Mounted and dismounted on wrong side and in a manner that could have caused harm to either the rider or the horse. We watched for almost an hour, and not one horse was offered water or much of a rest. I grew up on a farm and was in 4H. We raised horses and competed in local and State Western and Pleasure horse shoes. Someone needs to govern the treatment of the animals more closely, if the mistreated horses are any indication. However, the kids enjoyed the zoo.

This is one of my all-time favorite zoos. It is smaller but it is very well put together and ran. My kids love the fact that they can see the grapih without having to pay money to feed them. They have great exhibits some indoors some outdoors. My kids love the bird exhibit and the kangaroo as they can get very close to them.

What a fun day! I went with my husband and we seriously had such a blast! It was a very big zoo with so much ground for us to cover. Definitely worth the $15 a person! I definitely suggest bringing your own food because the food there is kind of expensive. The staff was very helpful and informative about all of the animals. I like this zoo because you get to get closer to all of the animals and there aren't so many cages.

This is an amazing zoo. Single visit prices have increased recently. It you live in Fort Wayne or surrounding areas I would strongly recommend a zoo membership, so you can visit numerous times in a calendar year for a low price. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They usually have volunteers stationed around the zoo with fun facts about the animals.

One of the neatest little zoo's we have ever been to. Great value for the price of admission, but the food is obviously expensive (but good). There were a ton of knowledgeable keepers around and everyone was eager to share info about the animals and were extremely friendly. Kind of reminded me of a mini Animal Kingdom (obviously without the Disney rides).

This is one amazing place! But expensive if you eat or drink there. Regular 20 oz. soda $4.95, they have several snack stops throughout but be prepared to pay a lot of money. My advice would be to pack your own lunch and drinks, because if you see everything, you'll be there awhile. But it is definitely something to experience! One of the best in my opinion

Always a great place to go with the family. We get a yearly pass so that we can go whenever we want spend a few hours and enjoy it. It's honestly the best deal if you have a family. Because you can visit it once and almost spend the price you would pay for a family membership. There has been some new changes at the zoo and we love them. It's really becoming a modern zoo with excellent experiences.

Great time for our 3 y/o. Loss of star was due to purchasing tokens (only had a $20) then it started raining. There was no buyback of the tokens, so we ended up buying stuff we didn't need at the gift shop with them.

Good for a small zoo. Did the whole zoo in half a day. If you had kids might be a full day. Friendly staff clean park. Just small when compared to other zoos. But my wife and I go to zoos all over.

This has been our second time going to this zoo and we are so happy with our visit! Not expensive and we spent 5 hours there! The animals were a bit sleepy so I suggest going in the evening when it's feeding time.

A great Zoo that's we can see in a few hours. My Grand kids love this zoo! Lots of great exhibits and a few rides too. They love riding the log ride, carousel, train, and sky ride! We took a few snacks in the zoo, then for lunch we ate at a shaded picnic table out by our car. We always have a great time here!

We arrived a little before 11. The bathrooms were HORRIBLE! No tissue in several stalls and it didn't seem like they had been cleaned in months. They smelled bad too. I know it was a hot day, but for such a "proclaimed" children's place, I would have thought they would have had a much cleaner restroom area.

This is a great way to spend the day with your family. The kids will have a great time looking at all the animals, going on the train and going to the petting zoo. The aquarium is really neat. You can pet the sting rays.

This is a top notch zoo! The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. We were at the log ride & it started to downpour, one of the zoo employees came by with an umbrella & shuttled us to the nearest shelter to wait out the rain. We spent 4 hours walking around, looking at the animals & learning way more than we anticipated! We are exhausted but it was worth every minute. We'll definitely be back again this summer.

Loved this zoo! It was our first time here with two 4 year olds. It was an extremely hot day but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We really liked how “natural” the enclosures looked and weren’t just an animal in a cage. The sea lion show was really cool and appreciated small details like when sprinklers turned on before the show to wash off the dirt and dust off the viewing windows. First time I’ve seen something like that at any zoo. My kids loved feeding the giraffes. My only minor complaint that some of the walking paths are really narrow which creates a traffic jam. Would love to come back!

Wonderful place! We took the granddaughters and they were pleasantly occupied by everything around them. They behaved themselves very well and that's how I knew this was a great place for kids. Of course the food vendors and drink vendors are very high-priced , but knowing now what we didn't know then, we will definitely bring a picnic next time and there will be a next time!

Beware of souvenir cups! We were sold on a cup and brought it back with us to find out they would not honor the .99 refills. The cups are now good for only one year. Their customer service stinks. They would not fill my cup, but instead wanted to charge me another 7.99 for a new cup. It’s not the money, but the principal. The fact that would not at least give me a new cup and a refill really turns me off of this zoo. They are willing to lose a customer over a .99 refill.

We visited last week, the weather was kinda crummy but zoo staff were very nice and helpful. Lots of animals were snoozing, I liked seeing them all cozy and chill. The lions 'posing' for cameras and that was fun to see. The pea fowl were all over the place, making noise and showing off their feathers. Super cool!

Super fun place. I used to go there soooooooo often. Lots of activities and rides. There are peacocks roaming everywhere and there is a lake with ducks and swans. There is also a zoo camp where you can send your kids and let them see "behind the scenes". Like the tiger, sharks and jellyfish. They can also ride ponies for free. Really fun you NEED TO GO if you ever visit.

I haven't been there in years. Tool my wife and son today and it was the best I've ever seen the zoo. The facilities were clean. The animals were in beautiful habitats. A great place to go spend time with the family. The Indonesian area is definitely our favorite place to go when we go here. They have a large snake, a large orangutan exhibit, and you get to walk through a "rain forest" like area as well. There is a train ride and a small boat ride though a channel that is pretty cool too. The yearly pass is an absolute steal. Buy it and go there a few times a month for an hour at a time. The kids will love it.

Loved the zoo. I recommend the manta rays and giraffes up close. Skip the cable chair ride. The $2 aerial ride travels over grass and fields of black eyed susan flowers with little opportunity to see animals. That was very disappointing. We also did the train ride. The train offers little opportunity for animal sighting other than seeing the local birds gathered around the pond. The fountain soda was over $4 for a medium sized cup. Ouch! It appears you can take in your own refreshments.

The park is great but it's a bit narrow in some places, especially the African Savannah portion. Be mindful of you have children as it may be a bit snug on weekends with a stroller plus little ones.

A very nice zoo. Lots of space for animals to roam, lots of walking to be had, and a good variety of things to see. Not overly expensive either, so it is a good value. My only actual complaint about this zoo vs some others is that there appears to be absolutely nowhere to sit inside and eat. So if you go on a cold day like I did, you are out in the damp trying to eat.

The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is always a family favorite because of the easily accessable exhibits for my small children. The expense for membership is slowly approaching unaffordable due to the yearly rate increases and the price increases for amenities inside like food and drink. It was much more fairly priced when the zoo operated the amenities, but it is still incredibly enjoyable for my family and myself.

This is a family favorite zoo!! We are from Indianapolis but we make the drive to Ft. Wayne just for the zoo sometimes! It has great wheelchair and stroller accessibility. The exhibits are immersive and fun for all ages. They have a lot of different animals and activities that we don't have at the Indy zoo. The walk through kangaroo area is a family favorite as well as the peacocks that freely walk around the zoo all day!

Love going to the zoo with my family. My three boys always look forward to having a lot of fun at the zoo. My son’s favorite parts of the zoo are the giraffes and the stingrays. That’s the one thing he always looks forward to as soon as we set foot into the zoo. My wife and I were pleasantly pleased to see a kangaroo carrying its little one in its belly. It was quite an adorable sight to see. I do wish they had some dolphins and other exotic animals that’d be fun to see though. Someday I hope they add on some more animals to see. Overall, I think it’s still a great zoo.

I love this zoo! It's definitely worth the membership if you live in the area. We go 20+ times a year. It is only open April through October, but it's open late Memorial Day through Labor Day. The evenings are the best times as the animals are more active and it's cooler and less busy. The great thing about the Fort Wayne Zoo is that most exhibits are stroller height so you don't have to keep getting your kids out to see, like the Indy zoo. Love, love, love my zoo!

Our whole family loves going to the zoo! It is so amazing to see the animals up close! It is a must if you have kiddos and are going to Fort Wayne! Great zoo for young children.Most cities the size of Fort Wayne have nothing like this to offer.They offer a fun night for kid during the Halloween season for kids to dress up and see the animals. We have been doing this for many years. it is always a real treat. Never hesitate to recommend this to any family with children.

My son and I absolutely love the zoo, we are frequent visitors. Only thing I would suggest is being a little stricter on smoking. I’ve noticed more and more through the walkways, there are cigarette butts, and even people just standing or sitting in the little areas off the path to smoke. I get it, smoking is the individual’s choice but in doing so In such a public place it’s forcing others around to inhale and or just smell it. If they could enforce their no smoking except for special areas rule a little more it would be perfect.

Nice family atmosphere. They section the zoo into a few different global locations and they keep animals from each location in that area. My favorite part was walking through the kangaroo area because the kangaroos are free to roam amongst the visitors. While we were there, they were just preparing to unveil a new section. However, we were too early in the season to see what they had been working on so we will have to go back at a later time.

Its amazing fun for kids and adults. I had so much fun. But the gift shop is kinda high. There is 4 rides pony,skylift,train,and water logs. Sky lifts was fun but is high and does not go over the park so. Also the park comes alive at 5! So have fun and beware of lions,tigers,bears,and oh my!

This zoo was OK, I guess. There wasn't a huge variety of creatures which was disappointing. Mostly it was just too expensive. I paid six dollars for my niece, my daughter and I to float around in a "log" looking at fake crocodiles for five minutes. Why didn't they take you through any exhibits? I thought that was the point? It is was just boring. I heard the lift ride didn't let you see anything, either. And the food was absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. Spent $3.50 on a cookie (one of the cheapest menu items) just to break a 20 dollar bill so I didn't have to exchange the entire thing for tokens. I guess I should have expected this. Also, ordered breadsticks with cheese and the middle one was cold in the center. $5.50 (give or take a couple quarters) for 3 (not completely cooked) breadsticks with melted cheese on top, and a bit of sauce. The best thing about this zoo was the layout. It was really intuitive. Loved the sting ray exhibit. Other than that, not worth the price.

Our group of ten people walked up and were immediately helped into the park in no time. We shared photos. This zoo is neatly organized. We just had to follow a path not to crowded , but others to interact with. Parking lot and pathways were clean and free of debris. Parking was great nicely located. The exit was easy.

This zoo is great. I feel it is probably the best in the region. They have so many different animals. Every time you visit they keep upgrading. They have a great variety of rides. They have a ride in each section that is great for the smaller kids to keep their interest level high. The ocean area is great. They have a shark aquarium along with a salt water aquarium where you can find Nemo. Along with all the animals they have great food options with several different places to eat

We loved this zoo! It’s not huge, but the size was very manageable for us with 4 and 2 year olds. We were there on a really hot day, and appreciated that there was plenty of shade on the walking paths. Some of the activities cost extra—my kids liked feeding the giraffes and riding the train, and want to try the toboggan ride next time! The staging is very well thought out...it reminded me of a Disney park in how detailed some of the exhibits were. We’ll definitely be back, and will consider getting an annual pass!

We have been there for memorial day weekend with one more family with a kid. Both the kids enjoyed a lot specially the pony ride. Even the adults had fun with sky safari. My little one enjoyed every bit of it. We really liked how they had restroom and Cafe in each section of the zoo. It wasn't too crowded and everyone enjoyed the trip. We all enjoyed the rides and the animals as well. We couldn't finish the whole place and wish to come back again to finish it.

I love this zoo! It's definitely worth the membership if you live in the area. We go 20+ times a year. It is only open April through October, but it's open late Memorial Day through Labor Day. The evenings are the best times as the animals are more active and it's cooler and less busy. The great thing about the Fort Wayne Zoo is that most exhibits are stroller height so you don't have to keep getting your kids out to see, like the Indy zoo. Love, love, love my zoo!

The zoo is beautiful, but the pathways were too narrow, and most exhibits made me feel claustrophobic. I'm not sure if there was a special event the day we went, but there were so many wheelchairs. I wouldn't have noticed or even cared if it were possible to squeeze by them on the paths. One walkway, through the rainforest was so narrow I can't even believe it was ADA accessible. My last complaint is that there were so few picnic benches! The only picnic area was roped off. We've visited >30 zoos, and this one was middle of the pack.

Fort Wayne is crazy proud of its zoo for great reason! The facilities are second to none and the animals are diverse and well cared for in as close to nature as any zoo can offer. Not just the displays but the entire experience is top shelf and also a GREAT VALUE! You can spend extra money if you do the rides and eat but still not a rip off. Take your family or your date for a well spent 2-3 hours.

Some zoos kind of depress me, but whether it be from manipulation or truth, the animals all seemed very well kept and happy, for the price, the exhibits were quite expansive with some good information, a learning experience for all ages! LOL. Slightly pricey concessions but that’s to be expected! If I had children, I would bring them.

This is a nice zoo and it's affordable to get in. The staff was nice, the animals looked well cared for, and the zoo grounds look nice and well maintained. The biggest negative for me were the tiny walkways in the zoo. The day we went was the first nice day in awhile, therefore it was crowded. That can't be helped but the walkways and paths are very narrow. It's hard to fit a stroller and another person in many areas. It felt almost claustrophobic at times. I also think more signage could be helpful. We weren't offered a map at the entrance. I was having problems accessing one on my phone. The area by the giraffes was so crowded I couldn't see that the path continued and I didn't see a sign that says so. We also missed the aquarium and stingrays as I didn't see any signage indicating exhibits were over the tracks.

What a neat place! They have four areas to go to: The Indiana Farm, The Indonesian Rainforest, The Australian Outback, and the African Expedition. Plenty of animals to see! We easily spent four hours here! It is nice for both children and adults! ... And you get to pet stingrays!

me and my boyfriend went yesterday. be prepared to walk close to 3 miles if your wanting to do the entire zoo. they have a fog machine going when you walk into the African adventure and the fog was so thick you can't see and barely breathe. the african adventure is awful.. the hyenas we're sleeping the lion couldn't be seen. you walk all the way to the giraffes and you can't get close enough for a photo. it's $1 for a piece of lettuce to feed them and they won't let you break it up to feed them multiple times. an ostrich took a kids map and then pecked his leg. wasn't thrilled with the long walk we did to see nothing. we went to the Australian adventure and the log ride was great $4 for both of us to go on it only thing i didn't mind about it was there wasn't a lot to look at at this zoo.. they were cleaning cages when i was there so some animals i couldn't see and the ones you can see were either asleep or there just wasn't a lot of them. honestly maybe it's great for children but not if your gonna go here for an anniversary it's a lot of walking it's $4 for a bottle of water food and gift shops are expensive and it was $25 for us just to get into the zoo on top of $10 we spent on 2 rides and feed the giraffes

The Fort Wayne zoo is the nicest zoos I have been too. The most amazing thing I see is the environment and the habitats for all the animals. This animals feel like they are in their own habitats. I love the fact that they have plenty of room to roam around in acres of space. I have been to many zoos and feel like there is not enough room for their animals. I give this zoo a 10 rating. Brought my son here and we spent 4 hours visiting all the animals. It was kind of cold still so some animals were inside which I understand. My son enjoyed the pony ride and the carousel ride as well, there was a log ride through water and a train ride which we didn't do but they looked like fun! The zoo is great and a wonderful place to take the kids. The exhibits are nicely done and they have zoo staff near some exhibits that are knowledgeable for visitors' questions. On my last visit they had some added surprises in various areas that caused the animals to be more active. It's the first time I've seen the hyenas actually do something other than sleep. Beware that on busy days, the line at the front gate is long and very slow. All said, it's one of the better zoos in layout, variety and overall quality.

Why do I love this place!? Because it is one of the greatest places to visit on the planet earth!!! Decent caring, knowledgeable staff, an amazing variety of animals, reptiles, birds, the Lion and Lioness, the giraffes the nice girl staff member told me their ages, names, and some of the responsibilities in their caretaking, the Tiger Exhibit with Bugara the magnificent Tiger, and his awesome twin sister, the new and improved Monkey Island with all those little entertaining monkeys, Zebras in the African Veldt, go there; it's great!!!
