REVIEWS OF Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary IN Indiana

Mendy Schoffler

My 15 year old daughter and I had a great time. I recommend the guided tour. You are not rushed through and you will spend plenty of time at each enclosure learning about the species, circumstances that brought some of the animals to Critchlow, and an opportunity to feed them which I think is a great way to play a small part in helping a great cause. Plan on lots of laughs the staff does an amazing job making this experience fun. We spent 3 hours here and made a great memory. Thank you Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary!

Becky Atkins

We just went today for our 4-H field trip. We are 2 hours away from here and let me tell you, it was worth it!! Our tour guide was funny, he joke alot with our group and our kids, he was very positive and outgoing. The best part was all of the facts he knew about Alligators, even though that is his job. Also the details of each Alligators past was amazing. You can tell they love them and have a passion to share all they can about each Alligator, where they came from, the environment/situation they saved them from, how they had to change their diets, environment, etc to fit each Alligators needs to make sure it had a happy home. These are the types of places I love to see!! This was a well worth it trip, it is a hidden spot in Michigan that would melt your heart when you hear each Alligators story and how they have a better home. Great job you guys, very awesome visit. I will personally tell everyone i know about your place. The Harry Potters mom review.

This place is awesome! We took the kids here last weekend and we all had a blast. We were entertained by the owner, who the kids thought was hilarious, until our tour guide came around. Tour guide was very knowledgable and courteous, and even let us participate as much as we safely could. We all learned a lot and left with keychains displaying our favorite alligators. Thank you:)

Maurine Burke

The tour guide was amazing and it was super cool to see the alligators I would go again as it was a good experience!

Alisha Champagne

It seems a little odd when you first walk in but the tour guide was very knowlegable answering any and all questions we had. The price was super reasonable. It cost us $50 for 3 adults 2 kids including food to feed the alligators. They also had a cute gift shop and an opportunity to hold a baby alligator. Fun for all.

Nathan Alvarez

A summer must see, staff are out going and very helpful. There are gators of all sizes to strike your kids interests. The tour and tour guide are knowable and have a fun way to draw you in to this uncommon Michigan animal. Lots of fun and at the end of tour your kids can hold a gator and snake. Love it..

Laura Hill

We visited the sanctuary on Friday august 23rd. We brought my mother-in-law and granddaughter with us. We all loved it! It was fun and informative. We could ask as many questions as we wanted. He kept us all entertained and engaged. I would recommend this to everybody. We even took some extra business cards to hand out. Thanks again to the friendly staff and owners for all they do for these animals.

Kevin OHare

The alligators where really something else. They would come when called and the tour was very entertaining and educational. I give them a big thumbs up!

Kelly Miller

I gained so much insight and a new respect for the alligator. We received a fantastic tour, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed every minute of our experience and I'm not into reptiles, but THIS..... Was AMAZING! Well worth it!

Brody Rotman

My guide was perfect and I got to hold an alligator. Awesome

Pete Lahr

They sure knew everything about alligators and had a great tour. Answered every question and you could go at your pace.

Bryan

Wow where do I begin? Well first s big thank you to hood rats smoking too much and getting pet gators then trying to flush them down toilets. Next big thanks to hillbilly’s for picking up the mess and making something of it. I have no clue what a normal gator sanctuary is supposed to be or look like but it was wild. There aren’t really any rules, hardly any fences, and a lot of poor overall planning. You do get to see soccer mom’s chihuahuas devoured like a cheap Spanish tapas plate and watch kids cry running around frantically. I don’t recommend this for anyone which is why it’s so highly rated. Nothing says America quite like this place or a six flags.

Chàrlene Mihalus

I haven't been inside, but my family has. It's very nice. But I do not like the pics of Dave Critchlow getting up close to the alligators. Tooo dangerous

Amol Nayak

Amazing place.. they have like 400 baby alligators.. and a bit 20 footer "Godzilla"

That Dude

Mr. C is an awesome guy. We had a blast on our tour with the kids. He is very engaging and funny. But also full of knowledge about both alligators and crocodiles

Maya C

Womderful experience! You can get very close the alligators! All the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, upbeat and approachable!

Christina Cameron

Always a fantastic experience! Something for every age. Love the renovations and additional exhibits. Knowledgeable and caring staff. My 3 year old and I frequent every Sri g and summer

Yvonne Sampson

Critchllow is an amazing place! Tons of alligators and a few other animals too. You start with a tour guide (we were lucky to have Alexis - she was amazing!) but can go back and go through it again. I really think if you just walk through alone you miss out. We learned tons of facts about them, plus learned some of their backstories and how they came to be at the rescue. You can pay extra to feed them, or hold them (small gator or snake for $5, larger gator for $12, I think). We had a group of 5 (2 kids - 11 and 17, and 3 adults) and we all want to go back already. While it's a good size place, it's not so huge it takes all day. This is a great after noon trip.

Corbin Angus

Cool Sanctuary right in Calhoun County!! Knowledgeable staff that love to share stories of their rescues!

Lori Hileski

Absolutely love visiting Critchlow! The staff is the best! We tell everyone about how much fun it is to visit. We pay for the extra food, and buy from the gift shop. We love supporting them!

Blake Brackett

We make it a habit to go every other year as the owner that does the guided tours is very informative of every alligator and reptile they have it is a treat to watch as he he has some of the alligators train to come by name

Tim Fountain

Great place to take your kids and family very happy I made the trip there with mine

Kevin Schmidt

Went here on a class field trip. Our guide's name was Pete he was really knowledgeable and was really good with the kids

Mason Boals

Amazing people and awesome place.

Laszlo Szenes

A really awesome place! I first noticed it on the map years ago and thought that it was really odd to keep alligators in Michigan. Then I ended up working just a mile from it. So I decided to check it out. I really enjoyed it. Then we when they had the fall round up if the alligators I came back with my stepdaughter and two other friends. They liked it a lot too. The tours are very informational. It's well worth the few bucks for the entrance which, by the way, supports rescuing and studying alligators.

Rikki Hammond

I brought my 3 year old daughter here because she had this idea that she wanted to pet an alligator. We went on the tour and I was amazed at the knowledge of the staff and how quick they were to answer questions. We will be back again. Thank you for an amazing day.

Jessica Ashby

Loada to see and great information on the alligators

Beautiful allegators!

Family Top 5

I love this place. It's affordable, the staff is nice and they're knowledgeable. And the gators are just full of love! They want to eat us so badly! Or at least the treats we can buy to feed them.

M R

This is truly one of the most amazing places I have ever visited. The staff are so knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. We learned so much and had a wonderful experience. It is well worth the trip. You can definitely see how much they care and how dedicated they are. We will definitely go back and I really appreciate how hard they work to make you feel comfortable and at ease during your animal encounter. They go above and beyond. Thanks for a great day!

BRANDI DICK

This was an amazing place for adults and kids! You can tell that the people really love what they do and the animals

Steve Cain

Fantastic education. Will take my grandson there in summer.

Elizabeth Walker

They are very friendly and knowledgeable. This was my second time visiting and they made big improvements.

Charles Rose

Carmen Critchlow personally came out to assist Tina Rose my 104 year old mother from our car to the Sanctuary. The experience was wonderful, the many reptiles were healthy, and the grounds were well managed. I'd highly recommend taking the family and feed an Alligator or two.

Denise Baran

My daughter and I went to visit our pet red-eared slider that we brought to a sanctuary 2-3 years ago. We couldn't see which turtle was him because he has a misshapen tail and most of the turtles were in the pond. But I highly recommend checking this place out. They rescue alligators and other reptiles from all over the country, and everyone there is awesome and knowledgeable. If you take the actual tour, you'll learn all kinds of fascinating facts about gators. Also, the owner, David Critchlow, is a laugh-a-minute!

Steve Johnson

Great place to take the family. The staff is very friendly and it's a great thing they are doing to help these animals. Please support them.

Raymond Merfeld

Great people!! They are doing good things here!! Animals are well taken care of and healthy! We talked to the owners for some time. Very friendly!!

Quinn Davis

One of the coolest places in Michigan! Not crowded at all and all of the staff was extremely knowledgeable about the animals! Thank you guys for the experience! Keep up the great work!

lisa wood

Very educated and exciting to see. Fun for the whole family with a great staff. Also the fact they rescue animals to give them a chance at a great life!!❤❤❤

Jeffery Wilson

This place is great. The staff is super cool, patient with kids and their questions. It's super informative. Changed they way I look at these creatures for the better. It's awesome that you get to feed the animals and you can even hold one of the Gators for an additional fee. Great place to create a memory with the kids or an unconventional date idea.

Heather Bunch

Awesome fun. Great tour, fun activities, very informational. Animals are all treated very well. Loved our visit and cannot wait to go back.

Amy Gehl

David was so amazing! I needed to find sanctuary for Frida the turtle who out grew the home I could provide for her. David at Critchlow welcomed her and me warmly! I can not wait to bring the whole family back to visit her and all the incredible creatures the sanctuary has!

Carla Belyea

Fun presentation-lots of alligators, turtles, tortoises, and a caimon. Shade to look at animals. Paid $12 extra for a bucket of food to feed the alligators.

Cheryl Barber

What an awesome experience! The people giving the tours are very interesting. Cannot believe they call the alligators by name and they come. This is a great place for kids. The owners take great care of the alligators. Would go back again.

Don Jesse

Alligators in Michigan? Yes there are over 140 of them. The kids in our tour group had fun feeding the gators! Our guide, Bayley was fantastic and enthusiastic! Great to visit and support! Not some gimmick side show joint, but a true sanctuary giving these animals a safe place to survive and grow old. Better than a zoo exhibit.

Marion Hill

Great place. Educational and fun. It is amazing to see all the gators up close.

pam waterman

Jonah and I had a great time, he loved holding an alligator! We love it there!

ROB WOODS

It's a must see, fun thing to do in Michigan. Take the family, fun and educational for kids and adults. I took my Grand Niece there a couple of years ago when she was visiting from Arizona. Now when she comes to Michigan that's one of the first places she wants to go.

Ss Mclean

Very knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed the visit immensely and highly recommend everyone of all ages to visit this establishment.

Jessica Smith

This place was fun! I found coupons on Groupon and took the family. The kids even got to hold some alligators. They loved it!

Amanda Nosie

Very cool place that provides sanctuary to unwanted pet alligators. Have not had a chance to do feeding or night tours but it looks fun! Also has other reptiles. Looking forward to more trips!

Sam Christensen

Very cool tour. Funny and informative guide Mr. C

Al Pashby

Awesome scout troop 552 Millington Mi. Loved it. Highly Recommend it. Very Informative.

Nicki Klama

Critchlow is always amazing. This was our 3rd time coming and our 2nd time at the Spring release. Pete and his family are always so incredibly accommodating. My son was able to carry out the 2nd gator released Saturday. He helped take measurements, etc. It was so great!

Timothy Domeier

This place is pretty amazing for the whole family.I do recommend bringing some extra cash so you can feed the alligators buy as much food as you can it's really fun and the kids love it. They have recently updated some of their facilities and looks pretty cool. I'm just hoping sooner or later they'll get some pretty amazing bumper stickers cuz I need about a dozen of them I'll be returning next summer when it's warm.

Ryan Moody

Not what you would expect in MI, an alligator sanctuary. Was very interesting and entertaining. Plus we don't have to drive 24 hours to FL just to see alligators.

Tami Smith

Awesome place great staff

Linda Yoder

This place is awesome!! Mr. Critchlow was so informative and engaging and funny!! We learned a lot about alligators, crocodiles, and caiman. My favorite part was listening to the sounds they make. Really cool place and awesome people working there. We had a great great time !

Mark Beaujean

My wife and I had a great experience at the Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary. Lina who gave the guided tour was very informative. During the tour it became clear that this Sanctuary is just that. A place where the alligators are rescued and cared for. Unlike other alligator farms that we have visited in the past. The alligators are not used for entertainment or exploited. This is an engaging and informative experience that will have a unexpected effect as you learn about there mission of rescue and care. I highly recommended a visit to and support of the Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary.

Evan Ballard

Had a great time, learned lots of information and generally enjoyed each little thing they had to offer

Kayla Rae

Had so much fun seeing and feeding gators of all sizes. Staff was knowledgable and friendly. Can do a guided tour or wander on your own. Stayed for over an hour and got to hold a baby gator!

April Rosa

The staff was friendly, however there was kids being extremely loud and rude during the tour and we couldn't hear the tour guide, and nobody asked these kids to quiet down. We didn't get the best experience out of our visit especially considering that we drove 3 hours to get here!

Chelsey Elizabeth

So happy we decided to visit this awesome sanctuary! It's the only one of it's kind within 900 miles! We were lucky enough to get the owner (Mr. C) as our tour guide and he did not disappoint. It was so educational and you get much closer to the reptiles versus a zoo. Admission is very affordable ($10) I believe but bring extra money for gator food, opportunities to hold a snake/alligator and souvenirs :) My son and I went on a Tuesday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. Picnic area available and small play area for the little kids.

Life

The children loved it, the staff is awesome!!

Debbie Quinn

This was my kids's second time here but grandma's first. What a great afternoon with knowledgeable staff took the time can answer all our questions and make out you were a pleasant experience. The only thing I would have done different is buying more food to feed the animals.

Karen Kinney

Second time for my daughter and myself to attend. Came with family including our exchange daughter from Germany. Thanks for the good work you do with the alligators.

angel cady

Cool place. Had construction going on but will be sweet when finished

Colette Miller

Amazing place with wonderful people. Very educational yet entertaining.

Travis Hodos

This is a very enjoyable experience for the entire family, and a great cause. Our tour guide was informative, and the entire sanctuary was clean. Most importantly, it looked as if the animals were getting the best possible "retirement". As a side note, brought our 1 year old who wasnt as interested in the gators, but there was a big play area for little kids.

Katie Fletcher

My 6year old daughter chose this to be where we had her birthday party. It was awesome. The tour was great. Adults and children loved it just the same. They had a nice little spot for us to set up as well so we could eat and do presents. Perfect place and day for a birthday party!

Toy Green

Me and my family had a great time here. Mr. C is an awesome tour guide. Tells stories and gives such great backfill on how each reptile came to the facility. He is funny and engaged great with children and adults! Mainly alligators here but there are also turtles, snakes, lizards and a crocodile on the premises. Will go again! $51 for 2 adults, 2 children and 1 container each of small and large alligator food.

GARY BEARD

Awesome place. Staff is super friendly. We got the tour with the owner. He did a great job keeping the young children interested & involved. Will definitely come back & recommend this place for all ages.

Trey Mitchell

Great experience for the kiddos. I'd recommend a self guided tour. The tour guide during our visit was not enjoyable and sense of humor and mannerisms were not welcomed for a family just wanting to see and feed the animals.

Nickolas Heystek

They've made a few great updates since we visited last fall, to include a kids play area with a sandbox. A great stop for the family for young and old. I'd recommend to do a tour on your first trip and pay to feed the animals at least once. We bought the year family pass and glad we did.

First Last

A winter visit is a very intimate way to introduce your children to alligators, snakes, other exotic reptiles. The staff make things very educational and fun. We will be returning in the summer to see all of the alligators outside.

Carrie Wale

All the Gators are well taken care of. For an extra fee, you are able to hold one!

Jeffrey Shepherd

Very interesting place

John Popo

What a cool place!! Alligators in Michigan!! I felt like I was in Florida!! The staff are all very knowledgeable and caring. I love that they are in the business of saving these awesome creatures!!

Bruce Lack

This place is AWESOME. And always growing. They take in alligators from several states, and they're always growing. Highly recommend coming, go on the tour and watch the show with the big gators at the end! Buy some food, support the rescue effort.

Corrine Hasbrouck

Lots of fun for the whole family! Detailed tours, feed the animals, pet them and hold them. Play area, gift shop. We absolutely loved it!

James Brocious

Went to the alligator sanctuary today. We decided to get a guide-we got Samantha. She showed us the whole place and answered many questions about the alligators. They treat the alligators very well and they seem to be thriving. Would recommend the place and will return again-we had an enjoyable time!

Josh Null

Great place for family fun. Friendly staff and lots of gators!

Karen Goebel

It’s so worth the trip. The Critchlow family has an incredible experience for you. We went for the full hands on encounter. We learned so much! This is not a zoo. These gators are loved and cared for. Every gator was at one time, someone’s pet. The habitats, the caring staff, the attention to each animal’s individual needs - all of it- extraordinary!

Paige Ramsey

The staff is absolutely amazing! The owner is so out going and silly with the kids. It was great to learn about the animals and some of their backstory since most are rescues. Use your biscuits wisely because there are a lot of alligators to feed!

Kristine Malabed

So fun! Great for the whole family. Make sure to bring bug spray (mosquitos were biting on our morning tour) and sunscreen! If you have a little one - be sure to pay the $5 to hold the baby alligator and/or snake at the end of the tour. Tour and time there- expect to spend time there about 2 hrs. We’ll be back to see Charlie, Tom and Godzilla!

J Meiser

This is a great place to take your kids it's fun and educational and just an interesting place to be. This is a awesome place for people on vacation.

Nancy Deal

Beautiful place to learn about alligators! Staff genuinely cares for the animals and are great teachers.

Denise Sutherland

Wonderful little gem of a place! Great opportunity for all ages to learn about reptile animal husbandry. Teaches all of us to investigate and learn before taking on the care of an exotic. These folks are doing a wonderful job with these animals. Will visit again.

Todd Soper

An awesome family place to visit and a wonderful organization to donate to! Staff is great, knowledgable and includes the entire family into the experience. Highly recommend for a fun family outing!

KRIMMINOL

Kids and I had a great time, the tour guide is a great experience as they give great details about the aligators of different world regions and how they came to be at the sanctuary. The hands on experience is pretty awesome too! Kids and I took the trip 8/10/2019. Very friendly people and staff.

Jessica Hargett

Amazing staff very informational the kids really enjoyed the hands on

gladys crumsey

Had an excellent time. The tour guide made the tour funny and interesting!

Heather Baker

This is an awesome place for everyone to go. Wonderful knowledgeable and friendly staff ready to answer every question you have.

Ken Hunley

The staff and owners are a delight. They offer deals to feed the different sizes of alligators and turtles. Well worth the visit for all ages. Also did I mention you can hold an alligator too?

Cory Patterson

A really fun and interesting place. Took my 2 year old there, he would laugh every time he threw a food pellet to the alligators. We'll definitely go back again.

Lisa Mullins

Pretty cool place! Staff is wonderful and knowledgable.

Robbie June

I love this place! All different sizes and types of alligators! It was really awesome and the people who own it are very knowledgeable and give really good tours! It's such a big and beautiful place with lots of cool areas.

Daniella Stein

This place is so informative. And the people that worked there were so nice ! We got to hold alligators. Such a great thing for the kids!

Terra Depew

Great experience for kids!

Patrick Hann

Pretty cool place. I'd recommend just a self guided tour. But overall fun to go visit once.

Rachael H

My family and I had a great time, even in the rain. The tour was incredibly educational. It's also very clear that they love their alligators, and it shows by the way she would talk about them. The alligators also came to her when she called them by their names, which I was so surprised by. On top of all that we got to see Godzilla! This is a great place with kind staff, and they do a lot of good for the alligators they take in. Visit them, you won't be disappointed.

D.J. Beltz

A fascinating place, for "kids" of all ages! We took our 4 grandchildren there today, ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old, and they loved it. I'm not a fan of alligators, but even I found it very interesting. The tour guide/ host was super friendly, very knowledgeable and entertaining. He had a great sense.of humor and made everyone feel at ease. The family that owns and operates it is passionate about what they do. The grounds and buildings are well kept, well thought out, and safe. Prices are reasonable and parking is free. Easy to find. Well worth the trip!

Jennell Robinson

Fun place to take the kiddos. The staff was very friendly and my family and I learned a lot.

Heidi Helgren

Awesome experience! Thank you Mr and Mrs C. If you get a chance do the night time show. It's a whole different experience at night.

Jessica Bennett

I think if you are hesitant to visit you should go, it’s not what I expected. The staff that I interacted with was very friendly and knowledgable to answer questions. They were also really patient with my 3 year old who is always set on high alert stranger danger causing her to hide behind me and be really shy. I also think the pricing is reasonable for what you get.

Paula Crabtree

Went with my daughter & 2 grandsons & we had a blast

Jessica S

Very detailed tour through the sanctuary. Very educational and they answer all questions. Absolutely worth the visit!

Julie Patterson

We had a wonderful time with the Springport Kintergarten field trip. Our group had Andrew as our guide and he was beyond wonderful with the kids. Such a fun learning environment for the kids and the adults as well. We will definitely be back to see the gators some more!

Jennifer Young

I went with a friend and loved it. Very educational in a fun way. Mr. C was our guide and you can tell he really cares about his gators. You can walk around without a guide but you would miss out as he entertains as he teaches you. I had wished I had children with me as Mr. C interact and makes it fun for all ages. Definitely planning on making another trip there.

Michael Dunigan

Extremely passionate group of people. They were funny and really thorough on the tour. Definitely worth it and such a cool thing to randomly be in mid Michigan.

Melissa Whipple

Wish there was more hands on. Expensive to feed gator

Concrete Rose

It was a unique experience. Check out this community gem. There's more to see than alligators.

Lisa Campbell

We had a Great time

Sushi Josh

Loved everything about this place! So glad it's here in Michigan. Saw more gators and reptiles here then when we visted the Everglades Park in Florida!
