This Zoo is classified in the category of Zoo.
Fun little place. A couple animals to see. The reptile house is my kids'favorite. Close playground, but it's little dated and in need of repair. Sunken garden is also a nice small thing. Couple of military memorials. my kids always have fun. Close to home and free; perfect combination. I haven't done then yet, but look forward to the holiday lights they put tip.
I mean, it's a free zoo, so you can't go in expecting much. 1/3 of the cages were empty when my wife and I went and another 1/3 have animals that I can see in my back yard. Half expected to see an exhibit of sparrows and robins, to be honest.
Just ok maybe 1 star. In and out under a 1/2 hour.
It is small, but nice. Probably the best collection of birds of prey I've seen in any zoo. It is usually difficult to see the otter, cougar, and wolves, but the other animals are easy to see.
It was closed in April till May , and so were the out door bathrooms
This is a cute little zoo to visit with small kids and it is free! We've also gone for birthday parties with a zoo keeper guiding us through. There is a small splash pad and a giant park as well!
Such a cute zoo with a surprisingly wide variety of animals & gorgeous, lush grounds. The reptile house is so fun- they've got a crocodile & alligator, plus an adorable turtle tank & imposing boa constrictor. The cougar was impressive, and the barn owls were such showoffs! A really fun place to visit- a hidden gem!
The animals here are suffering. Terrible zoo. The city of Aurora can do better but they won't.
Great place for children to learn about the animals and to connect with the babies the newborns
Could do with putting some money into upkeep. Sad looking! It looked a lot better in 2018.
Super park. You have zoo, picking area, a lot for children stuff. Huge park.
Very nice zoo. It is free and perfect place for an afternoon away. Had many reptiles and birds, even a puma! Definitely fun place
My family loves this zoo! It is small enough for my little ones to walk through. The small splash pad and beautiful sunken garden are an added bonus.
Fun for everyone, bring the kids, grandma, tha dog and some snacks! You stay in your car cozy and warm as you drive through a wonderful winter wonderland of lights. You may leave a monetary donation if you like, or not.
Good place for walk and kids play area. Parking is not great. Well maintained. I saw some people doing birthday party there. Super like to this place
Best place ever I always have a great experience here
Very good option to have a good time in family there are a good number of animals and is not too large you can cover all areas by a 30 minutes walking
Good park with a small zoo thats interesting. also free. You start by driving thru a few blocks with beds of flowers. Very nice scene. Then you arrive to a waterfall. plenty of parking throughput the park. They have a small lake, tables throughout , kids play area, volleyball area with sand. And my favorite part, the SUNKEN GARDEN. very beautiful area full of flowers. They change them up a little bit each year. A must when visiting Aurora. As a resident, i go here at least once every few months....
"Great small zoo the nearby playground and picnic area is great as well."
Difficult to see the animals through the double chain link fences they have around each habitat. Nice activity for a Saturday afternoon.
Nice little zoo. Easy quick afternoon activity if you wanna get out and about. A couple of the animals weren't in their enclosures.
Zoo staff is amazing! Very knowledgeable, friendly, and you can tell they are true animal lovers.
I like the place they tried to have good place for visitors,.
Small Park but has a lot of different things to do, Family friendly!
This is fun and knowledgeable place to visit and bring kids. Couple hours and kids really enjoy it. Good variety of animals also I have a pretty good size. Then outside of the zoo they also have a playground and a flower garden. On a nice day you can bring the kids and have a picnic. I think there is sometimes a little shuttle/train that drives around starting at the building.
Nice small free zoo. The animals seem well cared for.
Beautiful park. Love walking around and taking in the scenery. I enjoy their zoo and my kids really enjoy their playgrounds
This zoo is completely free, and was very well set up! I was surprised af the amount of exhibits they had and the variety of animals. It was clean, small enough to walk around in an hour or so and a great place fo bring children!
A great place to have family reunion and a children birthday party. Nice playground and zoo.
The best zoo to visit...small with close up view of animals.
They have the Christmas lights all over through the park come and see it it's really beautiful
The animals are all rescues that cannot go back into the wild due to various issues. We went on feeding day
Bald eagles, turtles, lizards, parrots and many many more animals. Plus a huge sunken garden as well as a visitors center. Ive been coming here since i was a kid and i love it!
We were going to go on the tram, we waited 30 minutes and it finally arrived we waited just to be told that we can’t go on because we need tickets. They cancelled everybody’s ride. So unfair plus we were the first people there. Waiting the lady said that they tried putting everything on the sign. Which they failed at. I wish I could rate this place 0 stars. Really disappointed and would never recommend going their or coming back.
Unfortunately the weather was rainy when we went to the Philip's Park Zoo, however, what we were able to see was very nice. My brother was more persistent and was able to get some pictures of animals staying warm and dry! The reptile house was open and their staff were very friendly and informative. We viewed the gardens from a distance as a wedding party was there and taking pictures! They were all very beautiful.
Love this place, my son loves going to the sprinkler and watching the animals..make sure you donate my son loves putting money in the box
The park itself is small and doesn't have very exotic animals, mostly farm type animals and some rescued birds, but it's a very nice facility. The grounds are kept very well and there's a beautiful garden area, splash pad area & playgrounds for kids, golf course and nice picnic areas. Very clean and lots of parking lots. Admission to the zoo is completely free and you can take a free tram ride around the grounds. Overall, I would describe this as a diamond in the rough.
I love this place. Local, dedicated staff, always improving, they recently added a skating park. With free outdoor movies in the summer, quickly becoming the go-to place for family activities. Please support with a donation when you visit.
What a surprisingly beautiful little area hidden in Aurora! I took the family here and they all loved it. From the neat little zoo area with things like Bald Eagles, Peacock’s, and a Mountain Lion to the surrounding area that is beautifully laid out around the Zoo. The front entrance of the Zoo has a beautiful flower garden to walk around in and even a free water park type area for kids to run around and play in during the summer. This is a great location for anyone but especially for a family looking to take the kids out but on a budget as this whole experience is FREE!
We were able to see more animals during our recent visit. Wish they had volunteer keepers to bring excitement and educational opportunities for all the little kids that walk through. Play park behind the zoo and new Mastadon park just down the path we're fun new additions to Philips Park this year. Looks like a splash pad was added at front of zoo entrance. For a free zoo it's worth a visit but don't expect to be impressed by the exhibits.
What few animals are at this zoo were amazing. They were really awesome. But I was hoping for more animals. Thank God for the small park inside the zoo or else the trip would've been really short.
Our Daugther had a blast with her father
Very small zoo..just an hour turn around time..
Nice little free zoo. Raptors, reptiles, wolves and a cougar. Set in huge, beautiful park with splash park, playgrounds, picnic area and trails around lake. Great for a family day!
This was free and had several animals for the kids to view. Visitor center was closed for the season, but we still got to view everything else. The boys loved it and it was connected to a park with a HUGE playground. I was pleasantly surprised that the porta potties were clean and well stocked. Would definitely recommend this to families. Also had a beautiful sunken garden which was covered in flowers and would be great for nice photos.
Great place for a family outing on a sunny day.
Small zoo . Has good scenic views , garden and park nearby. Good place to spend time with toddlers.
I started bringing my 10 year old there when he was and he loved it. It was the first zoo he went to and today we will be bringing his 8 month old baby brother for his first zoo visit before we make our way to Brookfield zoo. I personally love the reptile house with all the snakes and what's nice is the parks right behind it.
Nice family outing, if weather permits. Nice free activity for family
Great place to take the kids!! Love the flower park!!
Nice place to spend an afternoon with the kiddos. Not a huge zoo, but there's a couple of great parks close by so you can enjoy a picnic after your zoo trip. Parking is always a breeze.
Wonderful family zoo that is close to home. Not to mention.. FREE!!
This is a hidden gem of a park. Small free zoo for the kids and a great playground
Great park with a variety of activities to do, see, explore, and just appreciate nature and learn about the history of the area, land, geography, and how historical the city and the area has been in USA history. Decent sized zoo for being free. Something for everyone.
Fun place to take your kids and see the animals from turkeys to otters to big ol gators. Nice park next door so that you can make it a nice picnic day too!
Love this park. So many things to do while your there.
Beautiful display of lights! Well worth the trip and great for families with little ones because you drive through the display, you are not out in the elements.
Nice small town zoo. Nice variety of animals and not too big for little kids
This place is a great place to spend with family. Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful garden with fountain. The alligators we're awesome to watch and very active.
Great little municipal zoo! We haven't been here in quite a while, but it's always a quick, fun trip. Parking is free and readily accessible. Admission is free. While they certainly don't have as many animals as larger zoos like Brookfield or Lincoln Park, the ones they have are interesting and active (wolves, eagles, otters, alligators, etc.). Don't skip the indoor "reptile house," which has huge snakes, alligators and turtles. While inside, don't forget to look at the ceiling where they hang shedded snake skins along the length of the building. They also have a beautiful sunken garden and a small splash pad in the front of the zoo and a large play park in the back of the zoo, which is nicely shaded. There are mastodon fossils and historic excavation information in the main field house and cannons to climb on in the back by the park. Overall, it makes for an enjoyable experience and depending on how much you want to see, and whether you pack a lunch, you can make a day of it.
Enjoy the Day there.
Really nice and well kept place. Lots of cool animals to see and the staff is very nice and friendly
Nice place to get away, great for children to play!
Great Park! Very clean! The Zoo is free, great place to take the kids!
Treasure in City of Aurora! Beautiful grounds, with many live, well cared for animals. Knowledgeable staff answered our questions. Special thanks to Patient Ms Liz, while feeding the Rapters, educated us.
Nice place for kids
Small, but a good experience. No cost at all, friendly enviroment
Good for family outing. Zoo is not so big .we can complet visiting the zoo in less than half an hour as it is very small. Can't expect much as it does not have any entry ticket. Outside park is good, they have the volleyball courts near gate2.
It's ok for free..
We didn't see the mountain lion and coyotes. Are they still alive?
Nice hike! Beautiful garden for pictures. Nice variety of snakes, turtles, birds and so on! Kids love it.
Small but cool, entertaining for little kids who dont want to spend all day at a huge zoo like Brookfield.
Great spot to take kids. The otter is the best part. Stop and say high to him! Philips Park is well designed. The zoo, splash pad, and Mastadon exhibit are all close together. It's close, FREE entertainment for the smalls.
Was fun to stop by on way home with daughter and do a quick visit.
Kids have always loved this park & zoo... We have been going for OVER 20 years... Miss the otters! Haven't seen them for a while they're my favorite! The place is clean & well maintained.... I hope it has many years to of giving enjoyment and diversion for the community! I
Great place to spend a day with family, lots of things to see and do. Your Children will love this place. It has Pony rides, train rides and much more. Great attraction :)
A beautiful area in Aurora that has a small zoo with some animals like Peacocks, Wolves, Bald Eagles and a cougar. More than just the animals it's the whole surrounding area around the zoo that makes this place so nice to visit and to top it all off it is all 100% FREE which is a great option for families with kids that are looking for something to do fun during the weekend even if you are short on money. This is a new discovery for me and my family but one that we will be back many times to visit.
Kids love this place!
The place is perfect for family with kids or even without kids there's a big playground, beautiful big trees picnic table and then they have also Museum, a splash pad foe kids to get wet and adults get wet too. A beautiful garden landscape and then on the way out you can check out the zoo it's all free no fee and it's beautiful big park.
Great little zoo with free admission.
Beautiful..i like d view..play area s really very nice my kids had nice fun..
When you go to the train you need a ticket and reserve it like It was better just to wait is fair I was going with my family I’m Mexican so we have rights to like y’all sum oof for that I preferred the old way
This is an excellent little park where someone has taken the time to take an flood retention overflow area and do some serious beautification by painstakingly planing beautiful, butterfly drawing, flowers and bushes and putting up a central fountain and some statues, some topiary bushes and also to display a small group of exotic animals and a handful of dinosaur bones. Regardless how simple it may seem, it is worth spending a couple of hours to truly go through this park and enjoy it for what it is and the work that someone has put into it and enjoy the beauty of it all. Check it out!
Very limited in variety of animals but a great location. Playground, picnic site, gardens. Has a wolf and a cougar if you can glimpse them. Cute Reptile House with some cool specimens including 2 alligators you can see close up. Eagles, peacocks, owls, falcon or hawks. Free. We had a nice time but not all you want in a zoo experience.
Awesome zoo and the zoo staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and nice people
Enjoyed seeing the native animals. The alligator moved while we were there so the kids loved that.
First time visiting and there were maybe 3 animals. Reptiles and a hawks cage. I wont be back.
The zoo itself is nice because there are multiple animals to see for no cost. The issue for us was several steep hills with unstable walkers and wheelchairs.
All very nice, kids loved
The zoo has about 9 animals. Some turtles, peacocks and 2 alligators. There are also a couple of Eagles. Not much fun at all. The park is old and run down. I took my 10 month old. He loves everything. I should have let him wrote the review. Slash Pad was awesome!!!
Terrific small free zoo!
Nice place go there with my granddaughter
Beautiful little zoo
Great place for a family outing on a sunny day. Zoo visit is free and there’s a good play area for the kids. A must visit during summers for a picnic.
Great lil park/zoo to have a relaxing walk and look at some animals. This is one of those special small town treats that are hard to come by now days
Very beautiful well maintained place .It's a small one though But also have play area n garden to sit n relax .
This small free zoo lets you get close up to see the animals being rehabilitated or unable to live in the wild; well explained signage. A nice walk, not exhausting. In the park, there are picnic spots, Mastodon Lake and a lovely sunken flower garden. The visitor center has touchable mastodon bones and a history of how they lived.
Small but nice place. Enjoyed the time spent. Not unclean.
Nice park but need improvement
they would let me take one of the animals home so ike i give three stars but then again you could just go to a restaurant for food so ik what u mean vro.
Great for families. Great staff. Walk around the lake, kids play at the playground. Stay longer and cookout.
This is a fantastic community treasure. Some pretty cool animals, most of them were injured in some way and are unable to return to the wild. Caring and dedicated staff. Clean and beautiful park. Cannot recommend enough.
Nice zoo. Free entry!
So nice. I love that it's animals that can't be released. Great zoo for being free.
Small but very nice and best of all FREE ADMISION & FREE PARKING
Was ok. Only a few animals but it's free. Took about 30min to see everything.
Great place to spend a couple hours with family. New mastadon lake park is very nice
Great zoo for the little ones!! Very accessible and easy to get in and out.
Very good... Free car park... Free zoo entry..picnic spot... What do u expect more in free of cost!!
A nice relaxing park/picnic area!
I love bringing my family to Phillips Park because it has lots to do and see. In the summer it has a tram station that gives you a little tour of the whole park. And the little zoo they have is also a nice place to visit. And everything is free.. (Except the aquatic Center) the staff here is also very helpful and they seem to like their job.
Small but free zoo, very nice maintained, has quite a few variety of animals, to name a few bald eagle, cougar, wolves, alligators etc
Very interesting local zoo. Check out the giant botanical sunken garden, A lot of work goes into maintaining it’s beautiful surroundings. There is also a small water splash pad. During the summer season there is a tram that takes you on a free tour.
Great gardens safe friendly place to visit.
My kids have a lot of fun in the zoo and in the playground.
They need to fix that farm lookimg building or do something. It is an essential area
Great zoo, with not much, but pretty cool animals.. their Bald eagles are the best. If you early, you can see the wolves normally running. The Burmese python and the alligators are something you just cant miss. Outside the zoo is the Mantosa fossils.. I had never been inside, until recently when I was completely blown away... They have good collection of Fossils and details regarding it. This is an awesome family spot, especially when it's free
Always a great visit to the zoo :)
Loooove Phillips Park! Been coming here my whole life.
My first time visiting the park and it's lovely! Will def go back again!
My husband, 3 year old son, and myself went here around 1 pm. Opens at 12. Free parking and free admission. Beautiful, clean, and Lots of flowers! They have a sprinkler water pad for kids to play with water. Also have a huge park with picnic areas. It was not too crowded on a Sunday. They had eagles, otters, peacocks, chickens, llamas, deer, owls, wolves, cougars, and a really cool reptile house with alligators, turtles, snakes, lizards, and fishes. Takes about 45 min to go through everything so it’s not like Brookfield zoo but it’s nice to make the time pass on Sunday afternoon. We will come back again!
The new additions to park are awesome..My 2 year old loved the peacock. The park is well maintained and has prefect play things for my 2 year old and 7 year old
This is a cute little Zoo. There are not too many animals. They have an adorable Otter. Beautiful Peacock. The flower garden is so pretty. The best part is that most of the park is handicap and wheelchair accessible. There is also tons of parking and lots of areas to have a picnic with a near by playground and a splash pad too!
Fun place for kids and whole family!
great to spend time with the family, came here from texas and really enjoyed it. everything is free unless you want to buy some drinks or ice cream.
I absolutely love this zoo! Almost all (if not all) of the animals kept here are either injured and healing or injured and not able to survive in the wild. It is a small zoo with great information boards on the animals kept there. The staff is friendly and the animals seem very well taken care of.
Nice little zoo to take the kids without driving into Chicago. We love the reptile house. Also a large park just outside of the zoo.
Nice and clean zoo in a beautiful park, tow playground that kids can play
If you live in the Naperville, Aurora, Plainfield, Bolingbrook area, make sure to have this place on your Summer School Break list. The kids will love this place. You have ample parking space, volleyball courts, grills and plenty of shade and peaceful spots to relax and rewind. And all are free, no entry fees.
A great City Zoo for children 10 and under or a nice walk in the park for anyone. Don't forget the other amenities that the park has to offer. The free tram ride is very enjoyable.
Our great zoo is still the same great zoo since when I was a kid. Love the unique animals here. It really allows the animals to roam. Love the Reptile House.
Great place for kids and families
We are so blessed to have the Sunken Garden in our community. Every year it is planted differently and always so beautiful. Thanks to all the hard working folks and designer who grace us with this treasure of Aurora.
We love Phillips Park Zoo! Such a fun place to visit. We always enjoy learning new things and visiting the animals!
Fun time for free for the family
It's nice place to see. Specially kids enjoyed a lot. The zoo , splash water, play area were good. Its Nice place to spend some time with kids.
It's not a bad place But it could use a little update in the kids park area. To be free you honestly can't complain esp for the zoo experience, free trolly ride and visiting center.. Parking is limitless, has a trail around the main pond but it isn't a sight to see. Speaking of there was construction within the islands of that area of which they were building a new playground so that's a nice upgrade/addition for the childern.
It's small but my 3 yr old loved it so it's very ideal for small kids. They also have a splash pad during summer months and a shaded seating area for the patents. I liked It!
I was visiting , from Ohio, and my daughter and 18 month grandson visited Phillip's Park Zoo. We had a great experience. We had a picnic lunch, visited the Zoo and then played at the park. It was a great time for all of us.
Extremely small zoo, but very worth checking out! The animals are wonderful! Loved our experience and would definitely hang out there again!
Great seeing children playing in the water and having a wonderful time
Great place for the family! My little one loved it!
Wonderful day with the kiddos enjoying nature. The animals here were all injured and cannot be re-released into the wild...so glad they have a safe, beautiful home.
Small but nice
The zoo is very old and there is not much to look at. I dont thinl the animals are kept in a good space. Way too small for this to be fair.
My family had so much fun here. I just love the park being right next to the zoo. Definitely the place to go when you don't know what to do on a Sunday. Very small and personal zoo. At first I was a bit disappointed in how small it was. Not like the bigger zoos. But I was satisfied with my visit. We really enjoyed ourselves and the animals.
This is a great small city zoo. Have been here a couple of times. The animals look well cared for. There is usually a docent walking around and will answer questions. It is a great place to take children who want to see animals, but won't last at the bigger zoos.
Great place to take the kids and it’s free! Nicer splash pad just outside the zoo than most splash pads I’ve been to, and I’ve been to a lot. The animals seem happy too, which is the best part.
Such a great zoo. Plus it's free. So clean and staff are all very friendly.
Love wandering around the park, the floral displays are so pretty.
Had a great time perfect for my daughter who is 9 months old!
Free fun family time!
Great, free zoo! Could tell they weren't as funded as some other bigger zoos that cost money to attend, but made do with what they had and made sure visitors enjoyed their time and learned a lot. Quiet background music was also a plus.
Great FREE place to spend the day with the little ones!
Small zoo, free, has a sunk in garden that is pretty. Nice place for pictures and family. Has outside water feature for kids. The welcome Center has Mastadon bones. Has restrooms and a big park.
Beautiful flowers, not crowded and free!
A memorable visit to this park!! the staff is really nice and helpful, and loved the animals. Always an amazing day here!!!
Nice little park with picnic areas and an actual zoo.
