REVIEWS OF Toledo Zoo IN Georgia

Rachel Knicker

Did the Know your Dirt horticulture class then explored the zoo as well. Very knowledgeable staff and such a fun day overall. It was pretty slow day. The grounds were clean and the only thing I wish is for the signs to be a bit more clear and to be offered a map when I arrived as I could not find one when I was walking around.

Davis Keena

One of the better zoos I've been to. Negatives were mostly logistics. They had a closed sign on the front gate even though it was open. Supposedly it was to make it less busy for a specific group of people they were having there, but it's a weird solution and didn't work anyway because... It was super busy. Any time an animal was doing something, there would be a big crowd of people around and it was hard to see. Bathrooms were always packed, with lines going out the doors. Positives where what really matters: the animals. There was a big variety of animals here, I got to see a few different animals that I had never seen before in person. The exhibit design was also really intuitive, with plenty of viewing angles for almost every exhibit. Beat part: Maybe I was lucky, but this zoo also had the most active animals I have ever seen. The Polar bears had an 8 month cub playing with a piece of plastic in the water. The elephants has a great indoor area that we could see, and it has a mother and baby elephant playing with a tire. Active animals are just so much more fun to a spectator.

Nick Lyden

We had a really nice visit this past weekend. We went early in the morning when they opened and that seemed to be the perfect time because all the animals were out playing and enjoying the day as well. They didn't have the shirt I wanted in my size so I gave only 4 stars :(

Tom Macaulay

My wife took our two grandchildren (ages 3.5 and 2) to the Zoo and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! They particularly enjoyed the carousel and train rides as well as watching the penguin feeding, the aquarium (sharks were a particular hit!) and the river otters. It almost seemed that the otters were "showing off" for them... much to our wee Angels delight! Staff was visible and helpful. The ONE thing that was tough on this grandpa was that on the train ride, so much information was shared that the person responsible for sharing spoke faster than my ears could totally "catch". Nevertheless, we'll be back. Oh... and the servings of ice cream were Very generous for the price! What's not to like?!

Jacob McFadden

This is a great zoo where all the animals have racially sensitive views - fun for the whole family!

Erica Jackson

Such a fun place to take the kids! We always have a great time seeing the animals and enjoying the zoo!

arun kumar

Great place to visit! It's clean and very accessible! Had so much fun with my daughter. The aquarium is very well maintained and had a great variety of displays.

Katrina VanHorn

The exhibits are nice and well laid out. The food is decently priced compared to other zoos. I love that there is a lot of history with the buildings.

Bryan Colbert

Great zoo. Alot of the animals are out and active. Went for the polar bears and they were playful and looked in good health. All of the animals look well taken care of and the grounds generally look clean and well maintained.

Dazel Rules

Toledo's gem. Zoo was hopping exhibits were fantastic weather was perfect. Wish they stayed open later especially on weekends.

Jeffrey Hendrickson

Zoo was pretty clean. Staff was very friendly. The exhibits were nice. Good variety of animals. Drinks were priced a bit high but was expected at somewhere like a zoo. Very nice experience over all.

Holly Sines

Had a great time at the Toledo Zoo. It has been over 10 years since our last visit. So much to see and it is setup well to accommodate crowds. I recommend taking the time to revisit or go for the first time it is worth it.

George Brown

So much more than expected. What a wonderful surprise this was So much to do. Never even got to aquarium, natural history museum or botanical garden. Zoo has a lot of animals not seen in other zoos Admission was very slow. They need to streamline the process

Andy Latimer

First time going to this zoo. Was not disappointed at all. It's nice that the the enclosures are close together so you don't have to do alot if walking.

patt church

The Toledo Zoo is easy to visit. A membership is a good way to visit on multiple days, enjoying a difference area on each visit. Children will enjoy the aviary where they can feed free flying birds in one exhibit. The Safari train travels a route through areas where animals roam free. The zoo is actively engaged in all types of conservation; animal, plant, waste, and educational activities.

Great for kids of all ages. Always lots to do. Definitely recommend having a membership.

Katherine Ingraham

Just a really great zoo. Love the historical buildings and the aquarium

We had an awesome time at the Toledo zoo. The exhibits were great, especially the penguins and the aquarium. We drove all the way from Kalamazoo to see the elephants and they did not disappoint. Our one serious problem was the food. We bought lunch from the Deli and while we were in line, there was an entire box of moldy sub buns sitting on the counter. They weren’t just a little moldy either. This is very bad for someone like me because I am allergic to mold. We let the staff know and ordered our food anyway, trusting them to fix the issue. When we received our sandwiches, there was no mold, but every bun and slice of bread (including the kids PB&J) was dried out, stale, and hard. Honestly, it was pretty gross. I tried to get in contact with someone from the Zoo, but no one returned my call. I guess the lesson here is bring your own food and you will have a great time. For $60 worth of lunch, you might not find the food acceptable. We didn’t.

Sivadasan Madhavan

The zoo is great but the hours are not. Can't take a child to the zoo after school. It's already closed. Only Sat and Sunday. I'm a member, still the number of times I could go are probably three or four. The food courts are not my favorites. The toys at the store are very pricy, but we put up with that because of the animals.

Paul Krotine

I liked it. The scenery was great. Prices weren't too bad. Food was gross. Animals were neat. The museum was fantastic.

Moneek Jones

My kids going to the zoo before they go back to school they had lots of fun they played in the water then went to the park and went to see the reptiles the gorillas and monkeys they wrote on the train carousel they did so much they said the zebras I mean giraffes we didn't get to see the zebras so we only got to see it when we were at the train cuz they wasn't out they love the guinea pigs that animals take a touch that went to the new aquarium which state allows that touching the fishes that were in the aquarium they like it that well they have fun thank you and you should go and other people should go a fun family event

Stephanie LeMunyon

Beautiful zoo!! Food and extras were a little pricey but over all we had an amazing time. Very clean and we were able to see all of the animals!

Jessica Underwood

Absolutely impressed with Toledo Zoo, especially after visiting the Detroit Zoo. Toledo Zoo has a much better layout. Signs on buildings and near animals are easier to see and read. It's laid out in a big cluster instead of a loooong strip of endless walking like the Detroit Zoo. Toledo Zoo seemed like you're more up close to the animals. It was clean. Very happy with our visit and can't wait to go back!

John Conklin

As far as I'm concerned, The Toledo Zoo is one of the area's top 3 attractions. Always well kept, clea and updated. The new aquarium and natural history museum are both great. Plus the lights before Christmas are a marvel.

Sue Tuten

Lots of animals, kinda crowded for the animals there but over all a really nice place. People take to long crowding exhibits so you cant see some of the stuff cause they wont move on and give other people turns

Sherrie Gilhuly

Love, love, love the Toledo zoo. Compact zoo but loaded with great exhibits. It's definitely worth a visit if your in the area or even if you have to travel.

Kevin Perry

Perhaps the one best memories was hearing of family connections in Toledo and then visiting later. Dad/ GPA were busy in the resturant business with some clients/ patrons being nurses. Quick drop in there but put a scenic view to life seeing what you only heard of before. I bring this up because the same happened on my previous Asian study adventure discovering first hand what only was in print or vaguely discussed. Many details left out or unknown at the time.

Erika Harrison

Fantastic, interactive experience. My kids, 11 & 13 were very entertained!!! Much more to do than walk around and stare at animals! Zoo was clean! People were friendly. Animals were active. Such a great first-timer visit!!

Nick Lyden

We had a really nice visit this past weekend. We went early in the morning when they opened and that seemed to be the perfect time because all the animals were out playing and enjoying the day as well. They didn't have the shirt I wanted in my size so I gave only 4 stars :(

Cassie Riley

I love the Toledo zoo. It's such a great experience. I got to see the new museum today. It's Amazing. My 17 month old granddaughter got to feed the giraffes for the first time today and she loved it. Thank you for giving my family such enjoyment.

Rhonda Churchill

Great zoo! Lots to see and do.. especially for young children. My grandson had so much fun!!

Saee Gunjal

One of the best zoos. Animals and birds are taken care of really well. Clean and healthy conditions are maintained.

Nicole Loboschefski

Such an amazing family experience! Great displays and the new Natural History museum is another wonderful addition to the zoo offerings!

Monica Fowler

The Toledo zoo is an amazing experience for all ages. You can interact with the animals in a number of different ways. They have a goat exhibit to pet the goats. they have two different aquatic exhibits to pet the aquatic animals. You can feed the giraffes by hand.

Doni Bogedain

As always, the zoo doesn't disappoint. It was a little crowded, but it was a Saturday, so we expected that. The art fair was going on which was a pleasant change of pace! I enjoyed looking at all te different booths on display. My girls really liked how playful the polar bear cub was today.

Jessica Rutz

We just had the opportunity with our Cub Scout pack to do an overnight Safari trip. It was amazing. The zoo tour guides (Madison, Mitchell and Jess) were absolutely wonderful! You could tell they really enjoy their jobs and love the animals and kids. The zoo not only gave us a private tour of several exhibits after hours and brought out several animals for the kids to learn about and even pet. But they also fed us pizza and gave us other snacks. We did a bonfire, had a wonderful breakfast the next day and toured a few more exhibits. The tour guides had the kids games at times where we would need to wait so the kids never knew that they were waiting. They were simply having fun. We found the Zoo to be very well kept up, amazingly clean everywhere we went. The food they provided was more than enough for our group. I would highly highly recommend this the zoo as an overnight adventure to any group. Peggy was also wonderful to work with, great with answering all my questions and always getting back to me in a timely manner. Overall this was a phenomenal experience!

Shawn

Really great zoo. A little spread out more than I think it should be. Should be mist machines to keep people cool. Lots of animals unseen as it was too hot out. Need to come up with a better system for that! Food is barely edible at the large cafe. Otherwise great day!

Rachael C.

We love the Toledo Zoo! Every year we go and we are never disappointed. The animals are active and the attendants are kind. There is so much to do so it's really a perfect day trip.

Patricia Pepitone

Always enjoy visiting Toledo Zoo since a child. The gorillas are my favorite, but all the exhibits are interesting and educational. Went to a light show that was fabulous. Toledo has a reason to be proud of their zoo.

Hanna Welch

My kids absolutely love the zoo. They love the splash zone for the kids and the little river with the house and playground. Everyone of every age has a good time!

David Maynard

The Zoo was fun! They did have Jeep Fest going on yesterday, which made everyone that was trying to enter the Zoo wait for all of the jeeps to leave the parking lot. This should have been posted on the website, so patrons of the Zoo knew ahead of time.

Jacob Z

My wife and I enjoyed visiting this zoo. We love the size of it- not too big and not too small and contains all of the wildlife anyone would like to see.

Tiffany Harris

It's all right. The animals are good, Except the one animal who followed: CHEETAHS.

Rachel Zelnick

This was my first time at the Toledo Zoo, and WOW it didn’t disappoint. Hippos are my favorite animal, so to have a hippoquarium was amazing

Paulette Pettry

We sure did enjoy the zoo today!. Looking forward to going again. The only thing I would change is to make the penguin exhibit a little bit bigger for the Penguins make it a little bit more exciting for them and have more room for people to see the Penguins it's really tight. Good job staff at the Toledo Zoo keep up the great work.!!

Doc King

Nice Zoo. Go early so you can spend all day! Take your own sandwiches and drinks tho.

Bart K

The Toledo Zoo is a fantastic zoo. Most of their animals have large enclosures and are part of protecting the species. Not big on keeping wild animals in cages but they help to breed certain species back from possible extinction. The variety of animals and the quality of the exhibits are fantastic.

Rochelle Peters

Toledo Zoo is the Best! There are so many things to see and do, Museum, Aquarium, African Adventure, Carousel, Train ride, Splash Pad, Nature'sThe Neighborhood and much more. The Animal Spotlight could up it's game a bit. But all in all, We love our Zoo!!!

Gina Sharpe

Can bring food, wagons... Very family friendly. Bring a swimsuit or change of clothes for the splash pad! Lots of restrooms. Clean.

Nevertheless, we'll be back. Oh... and the servings of ice cream were Very generous for the price! What's not to like?!

Kerri Mazzone

Spent 7 hrs here...could have easily spent double that. Had up close experience with gorillas, hippos and orangutans that was totally worth the price of admission! My boys ran around the hall of venomous snakes shrieking with joy because they were able to see so many species they had only read about. The polar bears, saltwater crocodiles and nature's neighborhood were also greatly enjoyed. We have already discussed making this a yearly roadtip!

Keith Niles

Much larger than expected with aquarium inside. 2 parking/entrance areas. Large variety of animals. Zoo's make me sad to see them in pens but I understand why. If you don't have kids then visit during off season times or days or get there the moment they open. Volume of human noise increases dramatically as children arrive.

Mark Milligan

It is a really family friendly zoo. It is very clean and the staff was helpful. I will go back next time I am in the Toledo area.

Mike Dewulf

Always a good day at the Toledo zoo. Been to many and always have a great day here

Timothy Sullivan

Not crowded at all today but it's the middle of September. The flow of the exhibits seem to be all over the place and their map is hard to follow. Still a nice place to go with the kids.

Victoria S

My all time favourite zoo! The new natural history museum and aquarium are amazing!

Shannon Wells

I've been to this Zoo with my Family several times. It's well kept, bathrooms are clean, & staff is friendly with information to give. You can feed & interact with the some of the animals or take a train ride through a portion of the park instead. The Area I Love to see is the Cat Family (Tigers). I wish the Zoo would give the Only one I saw a Friend to Play with & a bigger area to Roam.. But other then that there is lots to see & do..

Libby Fauver

We love our zoo! Best zoo I've ever been to and we have been to one in all the states we ever traveled to as a military family. Animals appear to be safe, happy, healthy, clean, and well kept, as is the entire zoo grounds. The new aquarium is absolutely spectacular! The touch tank is our fave. The exhibits are spaced apart within easy walking distance with no long gaps or difficult terrain like some zoos. Very child, stroller, wheel chair friendly. Fun interactive exhibits! We love this zoo!

Christopher Ford

Liked it so much became yearly members. More than just a zoo. Check out the aquarium and natural history museum too! All for one price.

Mohd Ismail

It's the best zoo I have ever seen. We visit it at least once a month so I get a family membership. Absolutely it's a great deal. It's worth the price.

Hazys Day

My family and I have a membership here at the Toledo Zoo and the Detroit Zoo ! We visit both places all the time , but I must day the Toledo Zoo is my favorite of the two . They have some beautiful rare animals and some of the exhibits they allow you to get so close , and you get the opportunity to get some really great photos and the kids love it !! They have a small water fountain park for the kid's so they can come in a bathing suit and cool off in the fountains . The icecream cones are next level excellent ! If your looking for a great day with your family, this is it ! For additional cost after entry you can feed the giraffe's and they have a huge monkey type bridge and zip line ! I never went on them but sure looks like fun !

Harold Bruce

The diversity of exhibits is over the top. Aquarium a+, safari, kids loved it, the flower gardens are the best kept secret in northwest ohio, and the new museum is a show stopper worthy of a day all to itself, the aviary, is so pleasant, and the new splash pad adds a new dimension to the visit! Great job toledo zoo.

Mikayla Szuter

The Toledo Zoo is family friendly, gorgeous, lively, and offers so many fun activities. Memberships are quite reasonable and pay for themselves in 3 visits. Animals are well taken care of and the zookeeper talks are great!!

Anastasia Krueck-Frahn

AMAZING ZOO - nice lay out and doable in a couple of hours- FAMILY friendly and GREAT activities for children- guest centered for learning

Josh Morof

An older zoo, but provides opportunities for incredible views and interactions with the animals. Kids will love it! The aquarium is an added touch which was unexpected and much appreciated.

Kevin Carboni

Very clean, nice layout. There are definitely some very cool things to see here that you don't get to see at every zoo. I would have given 5 *s but I wasn't "thrilled" about a few things. Other than those few things... SPECTACULAR experience! The reptile house here is AWESOME! It's good to visit a zoo that obviously cares about its presentation AND their inhabitants. Thank you for an unforgettable day!

Ashleigh Harwood

I loved this zoo! Me and my boyfriend went and even us being older we still had a great time! I would definitely go back anytime!

Pink Flamingo

Nice place to visit if you can afford it. Membership rate for 2 people is $90, family is $110 no matter how many people you put on it. How does that make sense. I just don't go anymore. Had a membership last year & was not even able to get into see The Lights! Paid for something I didn't get. Contacted the zoo and they can't be bothered to respond. They also have signs in the far side of the parking lot talking about shuttle service. There has NEVER been a shuttle when I have parked back there in the dog days of summer when it's 100 out. If I pay for a membership I should be able to get in. They got my money and that was all they cared about. We pay a ton of taxes/levies for the zoo and it's still $19 to get in plus $8 to park!! Too much. This is one of the smaller zoos I been to & have never paid that much for the larger zoos.

Mike Centala

Always great to go to Toledo Zoo!! Have a membership and we try and go at least once a month. With the membership we can take our time and not try to cram everything in every visit too. Lots of great animals. Just a real relaxing and fun time!

Steve Betts

Fantastic zoo! Very compact which cuts down on all the walking. Great interaction spots with different animals...we loved feeding the giraffes. Very well priced. We will surely become members!

Suyaraj M

Not much animals visible.. only Aquarium is good when compared to Detroit. But Columbus Zoo is very big than Toledo Zoo.. Overall the Zoo was built in small area so you don't have to walk much like Detroit zoo or Columbus zoo. If you really wanted to see more animals and big Aquarium together then go to Columbus Zoo. Its worth visiting Columbus Zoo.

Beth

Love the zoo and the programs they offer for the community. I would suggest not eating outside at the cafe until it is summer. The squirrels are not normal or healthy and they get disturbingly close to people.

Devon Scott

We love this zoo. It is well maintained and the staff is friendly. We’ve considered a membership for years and finally got one this year. It’s already paid for its self and there are a ton of events that you get to benefit from by being a member. Our boys love the animals, the splash pad and playground!

Gabe Killion

Such a wonderful time at the zoo. Animals seemed happy and cared for. We all got a laugh at the orangutan that had a button to shower visitors.

Michael C

Nice staff, clean environment, and a nice variety of animals. Exhibits were all nicely set up, and animals seemed content in their environments. Somewhat affordable for families, still a little pricey to go observe animals not do a damn thing.

Hope Theaker

Love this zoo..everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable of the animials. Always clean and has a nice flow to it.

Gregor Samsa

Great place for kids. It also sports one of the area's better zoological learning centers. They also host concerts and excellent holiday events like the Lights Before Christmas.

Shannon Wells

I've been to this Zoo with my Family several times. It's well kept, bathrooms are clean, & staff is friendly with information to give. Keylie Siler

Such a great family place , I buy a yearly membership. They have so many different activities to do with the kids and adults! The lights before Christmas are always fantastic! Most definitely worth the yearly buy!!!

Alicia LaDuke

Would highly recommend to all to visit the Toledo Zoo! My family had a wonderful experience and we comfortably got to see the entire zoo in less than the entire time they were open. Loved the giraffe, gorilla, and wolf exhibit and the aquarium was wonderful too. Pack bathing suits for the kids so that they can have some fun at the splash pad.

Libby Fauver

We love this zoo!

david nielsen

Most of the exhibits were closed and there was very few employees around. Would be nice to have gotten a discount with so many attractions not open. Weather was in the high 70's sunny and a very nice day. Selection of animals was nice though.

Kelsey Managhan

Mondays will always be my favorite day to visit. Not too crowded and not a huge wait to see the animals or participate in the interactive exhibits. The new aquarium is gorgeous. Feeding the giraffes was a great addition to the Safari area. Curious to know where the cheetahs were moved to though.

Shreyasi Ganguly

It's just great... They have a wide variety of animals and they're all well maintained. The museum inside is rich in useful informations about various animals there.

Kellie C

Great zoo. Lots of things for kids to do and see, very interactive. We really loved feeding the parakeets and the splash pad is a lot of fun on hot days. It was neat to see the elephants being fed, being able to feed the giraffes ourselves and to get up close to the penguins. In comparison to some other zoos, the animals seemed to be more active and out and about doing/playing with things. Great to see.

Colie Richard

Perfect size zoo with lots of animals and fun things to do. Been going there for so long, loved that the tunnel was opened back up. Got to yell in it again like I was a kid! ECHOOO!

Marilyn Mullins

Every Tuesday in September and October anyone 60 or better gets free admission and free parking. Coffee and muffin too

Mitchell McNeill

A nice zoo, especially considering there aren't many in the area. Beautiful old buildings with intricate design features. However, I'm not a fan of their splash pad in the heart of the zoo. The ground is concrete and kids naturally just want to run through the water. Three children had to have first aid while we were there due to slips and falls. The prices are kind of steep on food and drink, so it is highly recommended to pack your own picnic. Also it is very odd that the highway runs through the middle of it dividing the zoo into two parts. I almost missed some of the attractions at the entryway because I was unaware they were even there. It took looking over the map several times to fully understand what was where. But don't deny your kids the experience of exotic animals on one review alone. The tickets are worth the memories and educational value it presents. Just make it a day trip and be mindful of the drawbacks, especially the splash pad.

Katie K

Food is very overpriced like most zoos... but the amount of food you get is very skimpy. Tickets are also pricey seeing as we have to pay for a train ride to see some of the animals. Other than that, I like the exhibits. Wish I could see the other safari animals closer... if you want to see them closer you have to go on the train. The aquarium is cute and I like their new natural history building. Staff is friendly and the zoo is overall pretty clean. We will continue to come back as we love zoos. I hope they get lions back soon!

babcock3613

In my opinion the best Zoo in the United States. If you are here or plan to be in Toledo treat yourself or your family to the Toledo Zoo.

N-arias

Terrific experience. A place amongst your children's WILDEST dreams!

Alexander Atkinson

I would advise never going on Saturday or Sunday because there will be crowds of screaming kids and parents yelling. That being said it’s a very nice zoo with a nice reptile and insect section.

jamie collins

Always a delight. Two awesome playgrounds for the kids.. Giraffe feeding exhibit is surreal. The water exhibits could use some work. Hippos & seals we're hard to see

Taylor Wolfe

Fun place for the family and little ones. My daughter loves the aquariums touch tank and I love the big tank in the middle! Fun for all ages! Timeless event for the family

Joyce Allen

Great small zoo for families, singles and seniors. The wolves were a highlight. Accessible for wheelchairs, walkers, carriages, and walking is easy.

Rachel Nash

Visitor friendly, great exhibits. Huge variety but not so large you can't see everything. Really great staff too

Sharon

So many new things to see and do. Much effort has been made to make the Zoo even better. Train and carousel reasonable to ride , personnel so pleasant and helpful.Amazing...! But one thing , please bring food drink and ice cream prices down,,ex: ..$6.50 for a cup of ice cream , is very expensive for average family.

Mike Chermonitz

One of the best zoos in the United States..very clean and the food is good and not over priced! We went late October and some of the attractions were closed but for the most part you can get very up-close-and-personal with the animals! It's totally worth the money...kids had a blast!

Queen Karla

Best wedding reception ever! Sites were beautiful. The band Nightline was amazing

Jody Newman

We have been to 3 different zoo's so far this summer. This, to me was the best one. Kids loved feeding the giraffes and seeing all the different animals. We all had a great time

Danielle Cook

The new promedica museum was awesome. The kids LOVED it and the adults did too. Two stories of fun and interesting exhibits! Great addition!

Mummymango

Nice variety of animals. Habitats are nice and clean. Membership price isn't bad.

Marsha Baker

We love the Toledo zoo..but you must wear comfortable shoes because there's lots of walking. They have more than animal exhibits. You can spend the day there. We enjoy taking the grandkids every year. And we were pleasantly surprised when my hubby..a military veteran..got in free!!!

K S

It does so many fun and cute events, my favorite being the light events held in Nov/Dec. I LOVE the fact that every time I go I see more animals and the renovations seem less in the way. LOVE the aviary and how you get to be surrounded by the birds. Absolute favorite animals are the red pandas and the penguin walkthrough where you get to see The Midge (1st penguin born at the zoo ). It is a great zoo and I always have fun.

Martin Weaver

This is a fantastic zoo to visit! It is clear that the Toledo zoo values visitors desire to be close to animals and the importance of conservation. I would highly recommend spending at least 3 or 4 hours to roam around and see all the sights. The aviary is especially impressive. People who may not love zoos as much may still appreciate the impressive architecture of the buildings within.

Angeline Frye

We had a great time visiting the see and taking part in the Pumpkin path today.

Tracy Marlene

My family loves the Toledo zoo we go every summer. We always have a good time. This year we went really early and all the animals were out and about.

lee carolus

Many of the exhibits were closed for various reasons (updates/renovations, relocation of animals/etc). Worse yet after paying to get in there were fees to get even remotely close to the animals. Want to see the cool savanna? yeah-there's a train fee for that. Want to see the giraffes at all? yeah there's a fee to feed them, which also happens to be about the only place they are and well past where non-payers can go. Want to see the cheetahs? Yup- there's a fee for that too...unless you consider one small area that you might* be able to see them that isn't behind a train station. I enjoyed many aspects of the zoo today but all those micro-transactions really add up when I already paid to get in.....

Jennifer knauss

Fun zoo. Probably wouldn't travel 2 hours to go there again but was a nice zoo with nice staff. Best part was feeding the giraffes

Vincent the Magnificent

One of the best places to go. They help the animals thrive, & their conservation efforts are quite impressive. I'm glad this is a part of my community. (^.^)/*

Sarah B.

Highly impressed with the zoo. Even on a busy day everything kept moving and was still very enjoyable. Nice aquarium exhibit. Kids enjoy it every year.

Lucinda Redmann

Amazing Zoo!! Boris the baby polar bear is so active and Fun to watch. He loves the waterfall tickling his belly. He is not tiny but about a third the size of his mom. Be sure to go out and feed the giraffes. Paid experience in part due to the number of staff required....well worth a few extra dollars. Good size zoo....easy to get around.

david nielsen

Most of the exhibits were closed and there was very few employees around. Would be nice to have gotten a discount with so many attractions not open. Weather was in the high 70's sunny and a very nice day. Selection of animals was nice though.

Daniel Seibert

Nice place to spend the day. Bring swim trunks and a towel for the kids to play in the splash zone. Nice aquarium!

Eric Goldenbogen

My first time visiting was a memorable one and was worth it. This zoo was bigger than I was expecting, and was hard to see it all in one day. There was a lot to do and see and was well worth with the money to get in. Once inside the snack area seemed reasonably priced. And my only Negative comment about this place was the Carnivore Cafe and the speed of Service. I waited about 30 mins in line just to order and the line wasn't even that long. This wasn't a deal breaker, but if I could take a half star away I would. Everything else was great and very well marked and easy to find. I will definitely be going back and having another adventure with my family.

Justin Federspiel

This place is great. It isn't the smallest zoo, so plan on spending an entire day here. Not the cheapest zoo to visit, but completely worth every penny. They have gone way far above and beyond any expectations one could have about what a zoo could be like. They have many hands on portions where one can touch different animals along with hides, shells, bones, among other things. They have an adventure course if you're into that kind of thing with a zip line and having to make your way through their high up obstacle course. They have a play ground and splash pad for when the little ones get restless. The train ride is a decently long one which takes you all around. And a merry-go-round. There is the skybridge or tunnel to get to one side or the other. The carnivore cafe is a bit pricey, but the food is good. The newly remodeled museum is a sight all in itself. You can easily spend an entire day just inside the museum. If you're looking for a decently priced day away, I would totally suggest the Toledo Zoo.

Ben Steed

A lot more hands on then any zoo I've been to. My autistic nephew had a blast. Just wish it was closer.

Mont Jaqu

Very cool, and cute place! I suggest you come here twice as it's almost impossible to see all in a single day. They have free entrance and parking for seniors during Tuesdays.

Sandi Randolph

A beautiful zoo. The animals look so well taken care of. A nice way to spend a day.

John Scott

All exhibits really fantastic except one section. The African Safari, it was overrun with some jungle gym thing and had to pay extra for everything especially if you wanted to see the giraffes. Our zoo the Fort Wayne children’s zoo you can literally walk up to people feeding them. Only had to pay $1 to feed the giraffe. Overall Toledo is really nice and worth it except for the African Safari area. Avoid that section and enjoy rest of zoo.

T R

Great zoo! Really like the aquarium. We went on a chilly day when there wasn't a lot of people. Many of the animals were out and active.

Lisa Bourgeois

Love this zoo. The animals weren't very active, but it's ok. We get a year pass so there will be other opportunities to see them. The baby Polar Bear was adorable . Loved the penguins.

Kelsey Managhan

Mondays will always be my favorite day to visit. Not too crowded and not a huge wait to see the animals or participate in the interactive exhibits. The new aquarium is gorgeous. Feeding the giraffes was a great addition to the Safari area. Curious to know where the cheetahs were moved to though.

ernest dalton

Love all the Ohio zoos! Toledo's was larger the Akron, but like the others, had great attractions and some animals you do not see in others ( Hippos and a Casseoary bird)! Love the atmosphere also!

Marianne Newman

One of the county's best zoos! Well laid out and lots of variety of animals.

Tonda DaRe

Terrible Experience Started at the ticket counter! Took 7 minutes to purchase 2 adult tickets.... we were the only ones in line! The aquarium enclosure made no sense, with far too many large fish in small spaces with large spaces half filled with medium to small fish. The park was packed but most all of the food and drink stations were closed. We finally found one open and stood (with no line) at a window for someone to take our order and when the lady walked up to the register without saying a word she flipped the sign to closed and walked away!! Its a Saturday and the zoo closes at 5pm, about 345 it started to sprinkle and the employees immediately pulled all the animals in, closed up ALL food and drink stations and exhibits and started leaving!! So with no other option we headed to the exit and just before we got to the exit my daughter took a hit off of her electronic cigarette (we hadn't noticed any no smoking signs and since there was no one near us she took one drag) and as she was putting it back in her pocket an employee that was walking way behind us screamed at her that there was absolutely no smoking anywhere in the park. We can completely understand and respect that but a simple "I'm sorry there's no smoking in the park" would be far more appropriate, not to scream at a guest like a maniac! So by the time we get to our vehicle, 410 - 415, the rain had completely stopped but by that point the park was empty including employees. I never realized wild animals couldn't survive a light 20 minute summer shower!!! For those who say this was the best zoo they've been to breaks my heart because they obviously have never got to experience a wonderful zoo

Sally Shipp

Zoo was nice but would definitely recommend more quick pop up places to get drinks ect. Had to wait 25 minutes for a water because everyone was ordering food.

Larry Snyder

One of the best zoo's I have ever visited. Better than Colombia, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Baltimore, Washington D. C., Indianapolis, & Detroit. Very clean, animals treated right and good food for us humans.

Laura Maxwell

I love the zoo and seeing all the different exhibits. It would be nice if the animals liked to move around more when it is 85+. The polar bears laid up against the glass was super cool to see them so close.

Jason War

Great zoo. We traveled 4hrs to visit. Was a great family weekend.

Jane zhao

We went there few years ago and we plan to go again! It’s beautiful and well maintained zoo. The place you want to go again!

Alli Smith

Visited for my first time in nearly 20 years. This time, I took my 5 year old daughter. Spent the entire day and had to bypass a couple of things. Still my favorite zoo. Now if only the new age penguinarium like the Detroit Zoo has, could become standard that would be awesome. Seriously that's my only "complaint", if you want to call it that.

Lee Yen-ju

We loved this place. Toledo zoo got almost everything kids like. Giraffes, elephants, aquarium, and train and carousal. We got there after 2 pm because there was a free admission (we still got to pay $8 for parking). It was worthy!!!! Thinking about to get an annual membership soon!!!

Russell Lewis

Nice zoo! Some parts were being updated last time we were there. Overall good zoo

Asa Waterstraut

This is the best zoo in driving distance. Probably top 5 in the country. Creative animal exhibits, decent pricing and a lot of biomes make it awesome.

Satonya Gantt

Earth Wind and Fire concert was amazing and congrats to Earth Wind and Fire on being the first R & B group to receive a Kennedy Center Honor award. I took my husband to see his favorite group and he really enjoyed the show I did as well.

tammy mercer

Amazing as always. Pricey but the membership is worth it. One day is not enough. New museum could take a couple of hours alone. Staff are very informative.

Panz Eric

Best zoo I've ever attended. Loved the displays and space for the animals. So many types there to see. Great aquarium, great African Savannah, awesome polar bear and seal area. Spent an hour and a half alone in the newly renovated natural history building. You wont be sorry if you visit

Gebo's Garage

If you haven't been, or if it's been awhile, you have to come check this place out. (Parking Fee & Admission fees apply) We went to check out the new Toledo Museum of Science. Wow, what a huge beautiful building with all modern enclosures and cool exhibits. They did a great job on this project. Also, it was my first time using the tunnel (subway) instead of the Crossover bridge to get to the otherside. It has an elevator for strollers, wheelchair or handicapped folks. Also, a set of stairs much shorter and easier to climb then the Crossover bridge. If you haven't been to the zoo in a couple years, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the updates. Go check it out!

Maureen Mc

I loved the Toledo Zoo ! It was clean and very well kept. It is the perfect size too, the animals all seemed very content and looked healthy. They have a large variety of animals too. My favorite were the giraffes which I was able to get up close with while I fed them romaine lettuce. They have a cool polar bear enclosure and an nice aquarium. I highly recommend the Toledo Zoo !

Melissa Sydenstricker

I love the Toledo Zoo because it's compact enough to see every exhibit on a good day. They also offer fun things like feeding the giraffes, train and carousel rides, and sting ray petting. They almost always have an online discount on the memberships.

Jamie Cannon

Such a great zoo. Could go everyday and the kids would still love it. It’s an easy decision to renew our membership every year.

Kriba 5

We love The Toledo Zoo! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and there are a ton of extra activities for the kids. Hands on stations, playground, splash pad. Great time!

Ethan Stykemain

Great zoo. The new Museum of Natural history is awesome. Membership is super reasonable and it’s always very clean. They seem to add something new all the time, which makes it very exciting!

Rowan McNally

It's always a great day when I visit the Toledo Zoo! They've done some wonderful remodeling that make the experience so much more amazing (and it was amazing before)! I highly recommend it.

Tanja Miller

Needs more water related areas for families to have fun on hot days. Need to bring back ice rink in winter. Needs to expand for better habitats & other rare creatures that they can't fit in the current small zoo. Would love a waterpark associated with the zoo, like the Columbus Zoo has.

Becky Arce

Wonderful Zoo experience! Close up to most of the animals. I will definitely go back.

Jessica Ferris

definitely not the same zoo from when i was a child..but never the less..its still my zoo from my hometown...

William Smith

I really enjoyed the zoo. It was a great family outing. Many of the animals were seeking shade and laying under trees and bushes often out of sight.

chinesewoowoo

Out of four total zoos I have been to, this one is the most beautiful and enjoyable. Now don't get me wrong, the other zoos are great, I really like them, but I LOVE this zoo. It is so well laid out, easy to navigate, and so many things to see! Also I have never been to a zoo where I have been so up close to the exhibits/animals, that I feel as though I am one with the exhibit and not struggling to get a far distance view. There are also so many zoo workers around ready to answer your questions about the animals. And to also have a zip line, awesome! This is totally my new favorite zoo and I would recommend it to everyone.

Deanna Gum Cotton Hairstylist

Awesome place.. We were there for a wedding at their venue. Very beautiful.

Melissa Sydenstricker

I love the Toledo Zoo because it's compact enough to see every exhibit on a good day. They also offer fun things like feeding the giraffes, train and carousel rides, and sting ray petting. They almost always have an online discount on the memberships.

Janae' Legacy

The zoo was great! My brother and I got to see their museum, which is one of the zoos newest features that came out in May. It's full of realistic 3D creatures and historical beautiful animals! We also visited the aquarium and got to pet sting rays, saw countless animals that were actually awake! And some that were sleep. We ate great food and had a blast!

Suzanne York

Great art show in August. Something for everyone from zoo to aquarium to museum! Staff are super friendly!

Jeff Pollack

Awesome zoo, went on a thursday and it was not very busy. Animal exhibits have great views were you and the animals are able to come right up to the glass. The giraffe feeding was also the best 5 dollars i have ever spent.

Mr. S

I have hearing about this zoo my entire life and I finally got around to getting down there from SE Michigan with my kids. I will start with the good which was the fact that they had an impressive variety of animals. Also, you could get quite up close and personal with them. The gorilla exhibit was especially cool since the only thing between you and them is some thick glass. Now with the bad. Getting food around lunch time was ridiculous. Went to multiple places that had 25+ people lines. Finally got to a place that was only 10 people and still waited 30 minutes only to get to window and be told we couldn't get what we wanted. Pizza. How do stop selling or run out of pizza at 130pm?Major disappointment and I still had hungry kids. The lack of food options was puzzling especially when you see the concourse area loaded with all sorts of ad type of tents for companies taking up all the space that could have been individual food items. I may return but no way I'm trusting them again for food in the future.

Dave Schiffour

I live in Michigan......approximately 25 minutes from the Detroit Zoo. Having said that, I will always drive an hour instead to go to the Toledo Zoo because it is far superior. Much better layout, better exhibits, better animals! Exceptionally clean as well. As with all places of this type, it's better to eat and drink at home. Food prices are a tad high, but definitely not a deal breaker if you're more well off than others. I passed by a Coke machine and I think they wanted 3.50 for a 20 ounce bottle!! I always eat before I go, because for me, it's more about seeing the wonderful animals. Overall..... always a great time at the Toledo Zoo!

Benjamin Morrow

Great zoo. A lot of stuff to do and see. One of the best zoos I have been to. Parking can be a little crowded. Go see the Christmas lights in December as it is well worth it.

Connor Coburn

Great exhibits! Lots of friendly and informative staff everywhere, and though it started raining halfway through the trip, our spirits couldn't be dampened due to the lovely layout and large number of animals that were visible in nearly every place! The open bird rooms were delightful for anyone, (unless you're someone afraid of birds lol), and the touch part of the aquarium was gripping, while the rest of the aquarium was a relaxing and mysterious place, very illuminative of the world apart the oceans are. Plus since it was raining we were one of about 13 people there (excluding the staff), so having the whole zoo to ourselves was pretty great.

Michael Scott

The aquarium is awesome! The highlight of my trip. It was a hot day and a lot of animals were hiding. The reptile building was lackluster. Reptiles are a favorite of mine.

Jenni Chapman

Lots to see. Lots to do. Make a day out of it. Just don't go on Mondays.....ITS. CRAZY. BUSY!

Todd Letienne

When you pull into the parking lot any day of the year you understand it's a favorite destination for a great number of families!

April McCarthy

Love this zoo. I went there more this year than I ever have before. The Christmas lights are awesome they do a outstanding job. The luminaries were amazing it was definitely a experience. The upgrades they have made and keep making are great. I have been to many zoo's and this is my favorite. Even the gift shop is nice and the prices are reasonable. The animals seem well taken care of and there habitats are always clean. Great place for family fun.

Shawn Northrup

A FUN ZOO FOR KIDS. In summer they have a splash pad for kids so bring a change of clothes. Small playground Very nice aquarium.

Kimberly Allen

Nice zoo, lots of exhibits. It was hot so many of the animals were relaxing in the shade and could not be seen. What was disappointing was that the train was not running on a Friday, and you had to pay extra if you wanted to see the giraffes up close because they were being fed lettuce and world not leave that area. I have been to outer zoos where you could still get close without having to pay unless you wanted to feed them.

Brittany Huether

Been coming to the zoo since I was a little kid, love seeing them doing updates. They now have more activities for my son, and niece to do and a few quiet spots as well, as long as you know where to look that is

arcaneguyver

This zoo has some fantastic exhibits and interactive areas - the bird house and aquarium are always highlights, and the newish safari area with a giraffe feeding station is impressive. As per usual with zoos, your ezperience will vary based on how busy it is and how cooperative the animals are feeling! Downsides - the food is very pricey for what you get, and it isn't particularly fast. You are also somewhat forced to exit the zoo via the gift shop, so be prepared if you are taking kids! I recommend going middle of the week, preferably towards the beginning of the school year. Bring a cooler with food & drinks, as well as some cash for feeding exhibits.

Logan Maurer

If seeing animals in too small of enclosures takes away the joy you get from a day at the zoo, this place is perfect for you. The animal enclosures are at very least appropriately sized, whether it's the polar bears, or the snakes. All of the animals are treated with care and love, leaving a wonderful trip to the zoo without any of the guilt.

Gregory Pratt

I simply love this place! So much fun and an absolute must see. The animals are great the displays are easy and engaging. I did love watching a hippo sleep underwater

Aaron Whipkey

Not as grand as the detroit zoo (in my opinion) but lots of variety in animals, events, museums, and square coverage. Spent 6 hours there and filled the entire time taking pics and waking around seeing everything they had to offer.

Barbie Graves

Toledo zoo has added on so much. Now the underground tunnel is open, so it's so much easier with a stroller. I highly recommend you visit! We had a blast!

Brooks B

Great place with tons of cool animals! Eating lunch in the lion cases was great, without the Lions of course. The bridge/tunnel is very nice. Also check out the back entrance.

Lucas Besot

love brining the kids here in the summer. They love all the animals, and the staff has been great when we need help or had questions

Nicole Garza

First and wont be the last time visiting this zoo. Lots to see. And the enclosures and animals are all very visible. Great time for the whole family.

Donna Searls

The staff were very friendly and informative. The animals were out and very entertaining. Looking forward to going again, especially for the lights at Christmas!!

Michael Stachowiak

The Toledo Zoo is a great place to take the kids. They love the aquarium and splash pad. I wish they had better food options. This is the one area where they aren’t up to par with their Detroit counterpart.

Katherine Arnold

The baby animals are always a pleasure to watch. The polar bear, gorilla, and orangatan babies have so much energy.

Wm A.

Really cool zoo. We drove down and visited from Michigan to check out the elephants. I really enjoyed the surroundings of the park. I felt more like it was in a garden than a city, which is far different than the Detroit Zoo's flat concrete park. Overall I enjoyed it and the different animals to the detroit zoo made it worthwhile to go and visit.

Anna Belcher

So much fun, favorite part was you get to feed the giraffes in person.

F Kay Baumann

Too hot for most of the animals who wisely stayed in their dens. Lunch was wonderful and the help and guides incredibly generous.

Aiden Huynh

It's been awhile since I've last been to the Zoo. Our last visit rekindled the love I have for this place. Their new exhibit are very well crafted! Military Vets get in free!

Ashley Prowant

Me and my Family Got a season pass for Christmas and it was the best gift ever. We Loved seeing the baby polar bear and feeding the giraffes!! We went early and all the animals were out, so it was a great trip. Cant wait to go back again.

Housewives 4-Rent

This is a smaller zoo, easy to walk. Loved the hands on experience. We are card holders

E.Z.Z.Y

Beautiful family type zoo. There wasn't the maddening traffic, I'm not sure if that's because summer is nearly over or that's just the nature of patronage. The zoo has an African twist to it, a few of my friends who saw our footage thought we were in Africa! Even though they have Fastfood outlets, they also have a dining area for those who choose to bring their food. That's a great service that's denied visitors to other big parks in the country. Thumbs up, Toledo Zoo management!

Tiffany Moose

Best zoo ever! Toledo zoo has a wide variety of species from all over the globe. They have several successful breeding programs, allowing for expanding numbers of animals. Historic buildings house the aviary, reptiles and the upgraded aquarium. Beautiful grounds and gardens. I love my zoo!

Tina Christensen

Was a great place as far as price's we did a picnic lunch enough snacks and drinks for the day!! Only bought the ice cream balls real sweet but we shared the way to go is to pack your own

Yeah Man

The zoo boo was an awesome experience a must-do for Ohio people a Michigan people

c. Sharpe

Veteran discounts!!!!! Enough said...any place that honors vets is worth the trip...however the zoo was great. Clean and fun for the whole family. Remember to pack your own food, unless you want expensive carnival food.

Robert Nusbaum

Me and my daughter love going all the time. Got a membership and is definitely worth it

Blake Horn

My son and wife loved going here for the trick or treat day! Awesome
