Great bike trail through Cape Henlopen State Park. Elevated area across salt marsh afford great views. Areas to stop and sit are provided. Remember that you need to apply bug spray before you walk or ride the trail.

Gordon's pond trail is an absolute treasure. Great for a run or bike ride. A small Boardwalk cuts through the trail so you can see the beauty of this park. Enter cape henelopen state park and follow the signs for Herring Point. Park on the right side (left side is the beach) and connect to the trail. Be mindful of cyclists. It's a small trail and you will hear "on your left" quite frequently. Not a good place to let small children run around.

Beautiful walk. Perfect weather. Saw several deer, cormorants, egrets, herons and an oystercatcher. Followed the trail walk with a beach walk. Great company , too... Lori and Stanley

The walking trail is what keeps us coming back to Gordons Pond. The trail loops from the ocean shore around the pond and back to the ocean. A one way trip is about 3 miles, however normally a round trip is required to get back to your vehicle. The trail is flat, with beautiful views of the pond and the sand dunes around the beach. Also, there are many species of birds visible during different times of the year. On one trip, we experienced thousands of migrating snow geese, it something to see.

They are continually upgrading the trails at Cape Henlopen. There are lot lot of great events throughout the year. Love the nature center with string ray petting pool. Clean park. Friendly staff

Sucks no one can fish here they jump out of the water but be careful for deer some like to scare you away from their homes by charging also watch out for deer tics of every kind but also a great place for bird watching and natural landscaping photography

Our favorite beach in the area to go. It's almost never crowded and I can bring my dog year round.

Along the Atlantic Coast of Delaware stand cylindrical concrete towers, the remaining vestiges of lookout towers from the WW-II era, these simple statuesque buildings range in size from 50-feet to 64-feet high. The towers were used in pairs to triangulate large defense guns at Cape Henlopen as the Soldiers would take readings on offshore targets. Those readings would then be radioed back to a gunnery room at Fort Miles on the Cape Henlopen Peninsula

Lovely re-purposed old military base. Camping, beaches. Absolutely wonderful cycling trails that include some really cool catwalk bridges. Best bet is visit EARLY in the morning to catch sunrise and see wildlife. Town of Lewes to the north and Rehoboth Beach to the south.

Great place for a hike with the kids. Beautiful coastal wetlands scenery. The main path winds its way across the cape. It includes a bird seeing lookout and a few hundred yards of new board walk. I enjoy this in the late fall. In the summer it may be closed due to excessive ticks. Either way do a tick check in the summer- one time we ignored the closed sign and quickly turned back after picking up dozens of ticks.
