This Zoo belongs to the category of Zoo.
We've been yearly members for 5 years. Our kids love it. The zoo is the perfect size and parking is free. There are various events throughout the year, including an amazing light display at Christmas. You can also sign up to feed giraffes and bison. There is also a beer garden!!!
Very clean, beautiful scenic views and not too far from home. Had a great visit with our 2 year old and even got to feed the giraffes.
Very beautiful zoo .kept clean .small but kids enjoyed
Scouting day trips for our future Grandbabies. This is a must do!
Always a fun time with my young son. Great exhibits. Great price. Cool animals.
Great little zoo. Parking makes it seem packed, but it hasn't felt packed when walking around. Great for my younger kids and the zoo brew beer concession is awesome. Few paid activities once you're inside, so prepare to drop more than just admission.
Maybe I am out of touch, I haven't been to a zoo in years. But, when we went the animals looked depressed and lifeless. That's only if you looked hard enough, there Re barely any high ticket animals at this zoo. Everything was closed, yet one had to pay full price. It's annoying to wait half an hour to get a bottle of water from the one vendor smart enough to open and make money. The vending machines stole the money from the guy in front of me (at knife point). The playground there was nice. But, I will just take my kids to the playground and the pet shop next time. I'll save a lot of money, see more animals and be able to drink water without waiting in a bread line.
Great zoo! Very family friendly and it’s a perfect size. Lots to see and lots for kids to do!
The woman in charge of letting us feed the giraffes wouldn't let me in to take a picture. I don't see what harm it would do to take pictures feeding the giraffes. It really put a bad taste in our mouths right at the start of our day. While we walked around we found out everything is extra! It's nice they sell beer and food, but expect to pay out the nose for everything after you get in. Later in the day we had a good time, when they fed the cougar and it actually came out from hiding. Also the jaguar and trail was nice. The bats and birds gave a little excitement too. Feeding the birds was $3 for 3 tiny pieces of apple.
This is a lovely smaller zoo. It is nestled in a nice wooded area and has a good number of species on display. It is particularly great for young children as it has a wonderful playground in the center area
Great zoo for children. Besides the animals they have interactive areas as well as a playground
It was so much fun, the kids loved feeding the giraffe. They had a nice selection of animals. Would highly recommend visiting.
Beutifull zoo... I loved
Very organized and I loved the giraffes. 1st time in my life that I hung out with one this close.
Great zoo for toddlers. Giraffe feeding was awesome experience.
Very nice Zoo. Bigger than you expect with a number of good exhibits. My toddler loves being able to be able to get close to the animals and never has a long wait to see them.
A compact zoo that can be covered within a couple of hours, hence great for families with small kids. They also offer animal feedings, a zipline tree top adventure, rides for kids and a playground. You can host your events too such as birthday parties, etc.
Great place for young kids. Petting zoo, playground and feed the giraffe. Picnic pavilion on grounds. Friendly staff, some exhibits being renovated.
Lots of beautiful and well-cared-for animals. There are eagles right as you come in, as well as giraffes and zebras, American Bison, jaguars and a host of other amazing species of animal (large and small). Great layout, with a huge and fun playground in the middle for kids to play on to get their energy out. Prices are quite reasonable ($10.50 for all ages at time of review), and there is somewhat high-priced ice cream, food trucks, and snacks all summer. Parking is free! Great place to bring young kids.
The zoo is very nice and clean. Ample free parking. It's ideal for young children. Alot of activities, play areas. Good variety of animals to see and feed.
Great place!! I surprised my wife to do zip lining for the 1st time and she loved it
Great zoo for kids. Lots of things to do that doesn't take all day.
Has some cool cats but it's a small zoo for the big price tag.
Did not visit or see much of the animals beside some zebras and giraffes. My visit was more on a personal level. My cousin had her baby shower here and the space was huge and air conditioned which made everything else fabulous.
Loved enjoying a small zoo while traveling! Feeding the giraffes was awesome! Was really wonderful to have a special needs friendly atmosphere and the quiet room when our little guy had some sensory overload. And even a little ride! We’ll definitely be back if we’re ever in the area again!
Great zoo for younger kids. Not too big. Plenty of animals to see and things to do.
Came for a wedding and the layout is dope! Definitely a cool event spot with a chill vibe. Also, the carousel was way more fun than it should've been.
Great small zoo. Enjoyed it with the family. Staff was polite and knowledgeable
Absolutely amazing, great zoo in Pennsylvania a great abundance of animals with lots of variety. The exhibits were spaced out well and very accommodating. One thing that I would change about this zoo is change the hours so the zoo is open longer
Way better that the Philadelphia Zoo. Smaller friendlier. They always have other things going on Saturday mornings
I liked that they had bats. My nieces and nephew enjoyed it and had fun.
We've been yearly members for 5 years. Our kids love it. The zoo is the perfect size and parking is free. There are various events throughout the year, including an amazing light display at Christmas. You can also sign up to feed giraffes and bison. There is also a beer garden!!!
Nice little zoo. Easy to walk and enjoy!
True to the star value - it's ok. Lots of exhibits weren't open for one reason or another, which was disappointing. You also pay to get in and then pay for many other things inside - the carousel, which is all of a minute, is $4/pp. Feeding the giraffes is $4/pp for two pieces of lettuce, and your in and out - there's so many people in line, they are cycling you through. Feeding the birds is $3/pp. The bird thing was actually kinda cool - slower, calmer and better than the other two things mentioned. I trust zoo's are not inexpensive to keep up but when you pay $18/pp to get in and then pay for this and that for practically everything else, it makes one scratch their head or feel a little perplexed, especially when you have kids and they want to ride the carousel like 100x or want to enjoy feeding the animals. After all, two pieces of lettuce are gone in an instant and we all know lettuce is not that expensive. Anyhow, most people will think I'm a terrible person for my thoughts but I guess everyone should be able to speak their mind. Oh! I almost forgot - we almost got lunch but while in line, I could see the flattop which was gross
The treetop tour at night was quite a rush. Lots of fun in the dark!!!
This is a wonderful little treat. It is small but still offers a wide variety of things to look at for the size. It has a nice playground for the kids to play on and is very well kept. I think the price especially for a membership is really good. If you are coming from far away or out of town it is probably not the best choice as it is small. You can loop the whole zoo in about a hour and a half at a moderate pace. If you live local like us though it is a perfect little treat for a nice visit out. We typically go and spend about 2-3 hours between seeing the animals and letting the kids play. Parking can get a little crazy so just be prepared.
Very nice zoo for smaller kids and families. My grandson is 3 and he loves it.
Great zoo with tons of interesting animals. Had lots of fun here!
Kids loved the zoo. Lots to do for little ones.
Fantastic exhibits, clean, friendly staff and a wonderful playground!
Quaint local Zoo in the Burbs. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great for all ages.
Fairly small zoo. It didn't take us long at all to walk through the whole thing. We arrived an hour after they opened and the parking lot was completely full. We parked 2 blocks away and and walked over. At least parking is free.
Lovely little zoo grandchildren loved it and not too far from where we were staying
I had never been to this zoo before, lots of great activities! I loved feeding the giraffe. Want to try their zipline some time.
Small convenient zoo perfect for families of all ages. Zip line course & zoo brew for adults. Carousel, mini zip, train, and large playground for children. Great exhibits with a variety of animals. Giraffe, Bison, and Bird feedings are also a lot of fun. I throughly enjoy working here, and visiting with family and friends on days off.
Loved it! My husband and I took our 4, 2 and 1 year olds and they loved it. It is a smaller Zoo, we walked through the whole thing in under an hour and a half. The kids loved seeing all the animals both that were outside and inside. They are adding a few more animals and have recently added new ones. There is a carousel, you do have to pay extra but it's a nice size and a good length of time on it. There is also a large play ground there that my kids loved. Overall a great experience!
Perfect place for kids to experience up close encounters with animals like Giraffe, Bison, Birds face to face. They have a musical playground which is very soothing and entertaining for kids to explore various sounds. They also have a kids playground which is completely child safe. Overall a good place to spend a quality time. Free parking. They also provide an inspector badge to the kids who stamps 5 badges from different spots in the zoo. The book for stamping is provided right next to giraffe exit or giraffe bone display .
Very cute little zoo. Lots of fun interactive things for families to do to learn more about the animal species and how to help save them from extinction.
Very well maintained with food and drink options. And it's worth experiencing tree climbing
Great time with my Grandson. Thos place is very child friendly Very clean
This is a great little zoo, and they’ve added so much to it since I was a child. They have something for everyone, and people of all ages. I’m proud to take my child to the Elmwood Park Zoo. It’s one of the highlights of Montgomery County.
Perfectly sized zoo and one of the few places around philadelphia where you can feed a giraffe and a bison.
This is a lovely little zoo that we have been going to for years! Perfect for younger kids since there isn't a ton of ground to cover and the variety of exhibits keeps them interested. We've done giraffe feeding and bird feeding for a small fee which was fun! There is a large playground, merry-go-round ($), train ride ($), music area, and a Brew at the Zoo stand selling adult beverages.
Attended Beast of a Feast event. Absolutely fantastic! They sold the right amount of tickets so while there were a lot of people, it didn't feel crowded. Food and drinks were OUTSTANDING! Music was fun. Save your money on the raffle (they had no idea what they were doing there). The zoo itself is small but legit.
Awesome little zoo! Plenty of things to see in an hour or two, and not too huge that its a burden to get through it all. Great for the really little ones!!
What an awesome day we has. Just outside the city lies this little piece of heaven. Free parking inexpensive food and souvenirs. And a bunch of the most beautiful animals you'll see. An experience I would recommend to all . .
First time ever at Elmwood; most definitely plan on visiting during normal zoo hours. We attended the Valentines Day adults only dinner and had an incredible evening! Dinner was delicious, drinks on point and staff was friendly. The whole evening was entertaining with tons of knowledge and humor. The animals were great and really seemed well cared for. This small zoo has personality and great staff who care about what they are doing.
Great little zoo. Perfect for my toddler without wearing out the whole family.
Tons of fun. Never crowded to an uncomfortable level like the bigger zoos
Very nice zoo. Very clean. Workers very knowledgeable about the animals.
Fun place! The staff are nice and you can tell the animals are treated well! There are lots of things to look at even without paying extra.
What a great zoo for everyone. There are a variety of animals including giraffes, zebras and bison. There is a lot of open space for sitting g and watching the animals or having lunch. Also there is a carousel and an area with larger than life musical instruments. It was exciting to feed a giraffe and get within a foot of a Bald Eagle. Plus the zoo is extremely accessible!
This a fun zoo. There are many different animals to see. My favorite part was feeding the giraffes. There is a fun climbing course here too. Great day trip in the nice weather for kids.
Great place especially for younger children. Not real big or over whelming. Great day trip and you can bring your own food.
It's great to have somewhere that kids can learn hands on about nature. I'm not sure how I feel about exotic animals caged up even when they are obviously well cared for. It is a good experience overall!
Great place for the family , never to crowded and always expanding with something new
Great zoo. Sells has a Zoo Brew for adults. Which means you can drink in the park but 16oz beer cost you $9. Otherwise great and friendly staff.
Love going there. Still fun with our older kids too.
My brother had his wedding here and it was all incredible. Love the staff, love the space, and love the animals (of course).
Love the zoo. I have been coming here for years. They are always doing upgrades and new exhibits.
Very family friendly, knowledgeable staff. Went for a class trip for daughter's first grade class. Will be going again with the while family in the future!
Nice family place to visit. Plenty of fun things to do for all ages. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the price.
Clean, the giraffe feedings and bird feedings were additional costs but so worth it and the price wasn't bad! Despite the 5 buses that were there for a school trip, it STILL wasnt crowded. $4 giraffe feeding, $3 burd feeding.. military was free to get in with valid ID. Happy they support the troops. I will be back!
Very small, cute zoo. Perfect for younger children who may not be able to handle a huge one like the Philly zoo. Easy to see everything in an hour. They also have fun events like breakfast with the red pandas
Zoos are very depressing to me. Animals here looked depressed with not much to do. Haven't been here in 25 years because I could see a small animal circling and circling in its cage, walking over and over again in its wellworn path.
Great Experience! You can pet bison and giraffe's! They have a lot going on during the weekend. The people were very friendly and informative. It is great for kids with the playground.
Great place! We enjoyed our visit. Reasonable prices and very walkable. Animals well kept.
Artfully laid out, it seems much larger than it is. While the collection of creatures is not as numerous or varied as you'd find at the Philadelphia (or other large city) Zoo, for a small town menagerie it is impressive. The staff is approachable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic, and the overall look and feel of the grounds, especially the music garden, is fantastic, with an almost Wonderland aesthetic that stayed in my thoughts for some time after my visit, like the cravings that follow an especially good dessert.
I liked it very much. Even though it wasn't fully open at the time we went. Still had a lot to see. And it is a quater of the price then the Philadelphia zoo.
Never been there before and was pleasantly surprised by all that is offered. Lots of hills so if you have a wheelchair bound person be advised. Love the cold water spray spots to cool off. Can see spending 3 or so hours there.
My family loves it. Just enough animals and things to keep everyone entertained without the hassle of the Philadelphia zoo
Great place for a family trip! Improvements over the last 6-8 years have been nothing short of AMAZING!
Great small zoo! Perfect for young kids! We loved the giraffes, zebras, jaguars and buffalo the best! Very clean and well maintained. Looks like they'll be getting a few more animals in the future by the looks of it! They also have a great playground!
Very cute, family friendly zoo! Lots of North American animals, and several more exotic ones as well. I especially enjoyed the bird house, were you can feed parrots and other rain forest birds. It is also nice that you can buy beer here as well as other beverages and food.
Good time with the family overall. Zoo is adding animals. Found more than 1 exhibit empty or coming soon. Did not take long to see all enclosures. Treetop climbing adventure & zip line was fun for the kids. Food was carnival $$$ (ckn fingers and funnel cake) better off packing lunch.
I am lucky to have this place close to home. I have an annual membership so essentially I can walk in anytime. Sometimes I have a little time to spare and this is a good place to just walk around and enjoy the animals. Very kid/family friendly. They are constantly expanding/improving. Lots of special events even for non-members. Food options and restrooms throughout the zoo. Staff/volunteers are friendly. Parking can be tight.
This has to be the best zoo on the east coast. I love how it is small but still offers so much with lots of animals, rides and a playground. I highly recommend this place to all families with young kids.
What a treat! This place is fantastic. We were always members to Phyllis Zoo. Now that place is a history. This is very small zoo but it has so many things to offer. Barn house with petting zoo, great play area, ok exhibits, birds house, few rides and many other things. But the highlight is a zip line! Even 4 years old can go! My kids had so much fun! We will definitely come back. Glad we’ve got the membership
Not sure how a family with children can afford this place. While it is a nice zoo with friendly staff, I was taken aback at the cost. And I could have understood the price of admission if everything was included. But everything from the merry-go-round to the butterfly train to feeding the giraffes cost extra. For our family of 4 to go up to feed the giraffes cost $16.00. We each got 2 pieces of lettuce to feed them (cost $2 per leaf?!). Yes, it was fun to feed the giraffes but outrageous, in my opinion, to charge that after the costly admission fee.
Very cute, family friendly zoo! Lots of North American animals, and several more exotic ones as well. I especially enjoyed the bird house, were you can feed parrots and other rain forest birds. It is also nice that you can buy beer here as well as other beverages and food.
Remarkable time! Going again soon!
I have to start off by saying that this was my first time going here and that I had no idea what to expect. I think my expectations for a zoo were a bit higher but it probably only has like 10 animals and some birds and rodents. Red panda, zebra, giraffe, jaguar, alligator, Prarie dogs, couple of reptiles, bison and some little rodent animals. That's about it for the zoo. We could get pretty close to everything so that was cool. However there is also a TON of stuff you can do with kids. There is a playground, a little "roller coaster" that they can ride, a merry go round, a huge climbing/zipline/tree house place, and an ice cream shop. So pretty much a recipe for a good time with young children. We got in for free so not sure on prices but you could spend several hours here with young kids and they would be entertained. In addition to all the activities you can eat food, get ice cream, feed the giraffes or the bison and a few other things. So it's a definitely appropriately named as Elmwood Park zoo. It's literally a park and a zoo in one! Great place for young kids and families or a date place for young couples.
Such a fun park to visit with my grandkids and their Mothers. Even in the rain we had a fun time. The buffalo poop exhibit is always a hit!
Many of the animals were not out Feeding if the giraffes was closed. Suggest to look on website before going to visit
It is such a hidden gem and beautiful park and zoo. So much fun. Affordable and close, parking and traffic are not an issue.
Small but good zoo. Bring extra cash to pay for feeding animals. Zipline & climbing experience is really cool! Kids need to be 4 y/o, at least 36 inches AND have CLOSED TOE SHOES!
This has to be the best zoo on the east coast. I love how it is small but still offers so much with lots of animals, rides and a playground. I highly recommend this place to all families with young kids.
Great hidden gem. We never knew it was here. It's a great little zoo. The kids loved it.
The saddest zoo I have ever seen. The animals looked sad, hot n on the verge of death. It hurt my heart to see gods creatures suffering.
Highly reccomend. My daughter (26 months) loves just wondering around looking at the animals.
It's a small quaint zoo. You dont have to do a lot of walking around. I love the up and close feeding of the giraffes.
What an awesome zoo experience for kids! Even with many school trips there today we had no problems seeing the exhibits. Much better zoo for little kids than the Philadelphia Zoo that packs in so many visitors it's hard to see the animals. Thank you Elmwood!
Great time always. Nice to have this place when you don't feel like tracking down to the Philadelphia zoo. Kids always enjoy it.
This was the first time for my Daughter and I; and we enjoyed ourselves. I was interested in visiting the zoo because they offered feeding bison and giraffes (whoaaa) and too the treetop adventures for all age groups. A very different experience from the Philadelphia zoo. Not too large but, has a different twist. Plus free parking!!! We will definitely visit again and I advice you visit them as well!!!
It's been quite a while between visiting here, and it looks like they've made some nice improvements. There were newer exhibits and also some under construction, but was able to see all animals with minimal crowding. The parking lot was the worst encounter of the day, with nearly nowhere to park. Aside from that, it was a great experience.
The perfect size zoo for my 4 year old. The playground is by far the best around! Highly reccomend
Great place for kids. 10x better than the Philadelphia Zoo. They have a little park for the kids to play in in addition to the all the animals and rides. They have a zip line course and you can hand feed giraffes. A+
Fantastic for a wee zoo. Great for the kids and the people working there are knowledgeable and friendly. KUDOS
This is such a fantastic zoo. It's perfect for any age and can easily be completed in a couple hours. They have some great rides for the younger kids and a huge playground in the center of the zoo. I highly recommend their membership pass, it easily pays for itself in just a few visits. Parking is a little rough on busier days, but usually find something close.
Nice little zoo. Animals looked good. Wasn't crowded but I did go on a Monday afternoon. Everyone seemed friendly. Casual day Only took an hour. A beer was $9.00 but expected it to be expensive it a zoo lol
It's quite a small zoo but there are plenty of activities for kids including a large playground. Some of them require extra payments though (not the play ground). Good to spend 1-2 hours to wear the little ones out.
Love it here! Great for families of all ages. Very manageable. Beer garden, playground, and spots for nursing moms make it my favorite.
This was a fun zoo for young kids and families. It features a good amount of animals who are well taken care of. They have a rope course that looked fun as well.
Best zoo for grandparents to take grandchildren. Size just right! Parking can be limited on popular holidays. Best to go early
It was a great experience! Giraffe feeding is really fun! Would have liked to have fed them all. Loved the variety of animals. Pricing was reasonable. Food is always a bit spendy so we brought our food to have a picnic. Lots of seating available. Definitely a children friendly zoo. It would be nice to see an updated enclosure areas for the river otters, porcupines, bobcat, capybaras and alligator eventually. Would love to come back and maybe even work there although we are out of state visitors.
It's a wonderful zoo. Small and manageable. Kids are able to get up close to the animals. There is a beer garden for adults and a walled off area for kids to play while adults enjoy a drink. They also have a zip line. Catering to various ages, its a place for a perfect evening packed in one.
Excellent zoo! Perfect size if you're visiting with little ones. Highly recommend!
It was very small, but my kids really enjoyed feeding the giraffes (extra charge)
Perfect for families with young children. Montgomery County libraries have passes you can check out for free admission. Pay the extra to feed the giraffe. That was awesome.
Small enough to keep the kids remain interested. Plenty of shades. Great playground for extra running and climbing
This is a great smaller zoo, with quite a few animals that you don't see many other places. The jaguar, porcupines, and red panda were favorites. My daughter loves anything feline so the bobcat, cougar, and ocelot were wonderful as well. The playground is well done, with lots of structures, shade, and fenced. Great for parents with small kids. My sister had crutches today and it was a bit difficult to maneuver around some of the hilly areas, but we managed alright. They are clearly spending time and money to upgrade exhibits. The zebras and giraffes are in a new enclosure and soon the red fox, Bobcats, and otters will be too. Construction is still pending. The Trail of the Jaguars was our favorite spot. The Jaguars were front and center and absolutely adorable, playing ball and enjoying a post-Halloween pumpkin. I recommend getting a map from the Store, but I wish the map was a bit more helpful. All in all, a good zoo to visit if you want one on the smaller side, particularly with kids under 10.
Great value for the money. Not busy at all. We fed the giraffes which was awesome but none of the drink stands were open and a few of the vending machines were selling warm waters and sodas. The one vending machine took our money and we received no bottle of water
Was nice and clean, Not much staff around. Nice trees And animals, the bird place is something worth checking out, you can also feed Giraffe's for a minimal cost, not included in the general admission. Watch feeding the Bison and others. Small and nice place not so crowded. Oh, there's also a long Zip line with multiple connectors, seems like a nice ride, unfortunately it was closed way before park is supposed to. There's also Kiddie Rids, and small park. 4 star because the Zip line was closed Way earlier then expected.
We love this zoo! Treetop Adventure is so cool! And Frank, who was our guide, was awesome!!
Great for the kids always get the membership it’s worth the price.
Great day trip to entertain young kids. Visiting the birds of paradise and feeding the giraffe a were our highlights. Several food concessions available if you don't want to bring your own food and snacks.
The giraffe feeding was excellent and my toddlers was so happy seeing all the animals at the zoo.
Took the kiddies here and they had a blast. Their favorite thing to do was feed the animals. We fed the giraffe and the bison. Small zoo but very fun.
A fun day trip. They have giraffe feeding and an animal show. They also have a playground. Some of the popular animals are giraffes, buffalo, prairie dogs and a few large cats.
We’ve been to many zoos all around America, both big and small. This zoo is extremely small, there are very few animals in the zoo. Of the few animals they do have most of them were sleeping in their shelters or not moving around. The admission is not priced properly for the size of the zoo. Additionally, the zoo has figured out many ways to charge you extra money. They have many attractions which are not included in admission. There is a carousel, train, animal feedings etc. which all cost extra per person. They have centered the zoo around these attractions. There is also a disproportionate amount of concession stands in the zoo. It felt more like a board walk than a zoo. I recommend paying the extra few dollars and traveling to The Philadelphia Zoo. This zoo is not worth the money.
Really nice zoo!! Great size.. not too big or too small. Amazing kid's area & zip lining, plus a full bar
Great for families with young kids! Not an overwhelmingly big zoo and still there are so many activities. Loved feeding the giraffes and being able to sip on a craft beer.
I’m so impressed with how far this zoo has come over the years! It’s now a great mid-sized zoo that can be enjoyed by all ages.
My daughter, who now works for the zoo, took me again yesterday. We had a wonderful time
This is a smaller zoo and perfect for a few hours of fun. The animals are appear well cared for. They host many events, school trips, and educational fun. The playground is amazing. We go a few times a year. There is a little petting zoo, carousel and train ride. (Train, carousel and ropes course are an additional fee.) The gift shop is cool and oddly affordable. Secret tip: YOU CAN GET FREE PASSES AND CERTAIN LIBRARIES!!! A season pass for 2 adults and a guest is $100. Adults are $18 and kids are about $10-12. Under 3 is free, stroller friendly and you can buy beer!!! It's a wonderful place for learning, family time and picnic while watching the kids at the playground. I highly recommend coming here long before the Philly Zoo. It's kinda tucked away but MapQuest will get you there. It's very interactive and can even vote to name animals are select which animals they may host in the future. Overall it's a great family day. I strongly recommend a visit. It's a large loop but again it's not huge. If you have a napper, go at 10am and you'll be able to get the loop done by 1ish and all tired for nap! That playground is my favorite!
We went with our 2 year old on a rainy day. Despite the off and on rain we were able to enjoy our time at the zoo. The highlight for me was watching my daughter feed the giraffes. The highlight for my daughter was seeing the colorful poison dart frogs. When we were there they had plenty of workers and volunteers around to help and answer questions. The fact that it is smaller (than Philadelphia Zoo) gave it a more personal feel. They have an app which is helpful. If you are planning to visit I would suggest donwloading the app and exploring the zoo before hand to decide what to prioritize.
My kids totally loved this zoo. Is just the right size to take a large family. I like that you can actually feed some animals. The staff is super friendly too. My favorite part about the zoo was the kids playground. After the grownups get tired take the kids to the playground while you relax on the bench
A fun zoo get away with the family. Lots of kids
It was a great zoo. There was such a variety of animals. From farm animals to wild. I really enjoyed it. You can feed giraffes and birds here which is really cool! Smaller than other zoos but still very cool.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, clean facilities and excellent service A+ Highly Recommended
It was a little difficult to figure out how to get in and where to park signage was not that great. However was very carefully laid out and beautiful and clean. Plenty of activities for the children to do plenty of animals to see. A little bit pricey though so if you're looking for a bargain this is probably not your stop.
This zoo is very clean and very cute. They offer lots of interactive stuff for people of all ages. The animals are healthy and efforts are taken to ensure that they are, like rotating jaguars to different areas to prevent boredom. Cool ropes course. Family friendly.
Small, but very nice, zoo with a big zoo feel. Having a good amount of shade is a huge plus on hot days too!
Nice neighborhood zoo. Definitely more animals than what I expected. Some of the building need to be updated. Otherwise cool place to take you kids!
It's really fun for kids. Together with animals, there are few musical instruments to play with. Treetop adventures are also very good. Place is not a lot big, so easy to cover with kids.
It's a small zoo but it has come a long way and it has been renovated and more animals have been added and will be coming soon. It's really enjoyable. Parking isn't so hot but it was worth it. We enjoyed it.
Love the giraffes. It is quiet there in the early afternoon during the week.
Lots of parking, price is about right especially if you get the season pass. Good amount of exhibits, and they seem to be working on new as well. Not as big as the Philadelphia zoo but great for the suburbs.
All the good animals didnt come out til the end of the zoo closing
Love this place! We fed the giraffes first and that was a dream come true! Unlike larger zoos this one is a bit more intimate. As of June 30, 2019, the day I went, there's a lot of exhibits still being worked on. Animals were moved temporarily. Sad there wasn't any flamingos anymore.
I love this zoo for chances to get up close and personal with animals. My 2 year old son was able to feed parrots and giraffes! It's small enough that you don't get too tired yet big enough to keep the kids entertained. Lots of zoo employees around to show and teach you about the animals. Great zoo!!
Great family place! A little pricey for the extras.
It was a nice zoo and I know it's Late September but they should provide a place for food and snacks. It was disappointing that there wasn't anyplace to eat!
A small but very cute zoo! Adults cost $17 children 2+ cost $15. there are different animals to see and some that you can feed like the zebras and lambs with a small fee. It has a playground, a music instrument play area, and a merry go round($4). For more fun there is a tree top Adventures that looks super fun for a fee. We spent about 2-3 hours there and I would recommend anyone to visit
I like the zoo and it seems like they are making an effort to make it better. But I have been trying to book my son's birthday party and they have not returned my calls or answered my email. My son really wants to celebrate his birthday there, i just want to see if the date is available.
Love elm wood zoo, we personally thinks this zoo is better than Philadelphia zoo. It's alot smaller, but with better experience. We love to go feed the giraffes and feed the birds.
An adorable little zoo with multiple feeding opportunities (we fed giraffe, buffalo and birds), and lots of meet and greet stations (ball python, tortoise, and red tail hawk). Not huge like Philly or DC, but very personal and educational.
One of the cleanest zoos. Lots to do and see. I love all of the animals and wish the could be free but the humans took over everything and the lucky get put in a cage to live out there life some animals are all exchange programs which means they bounce a roo that's around Isuzu which is pretty healthy for that I'm all for new living arrangements every so often
It's an ok place to visit although 20$ for a 10 to 15 minute walk is a bit silly. Not many animals to see although the ones we did get a chance to view was nice. I must say that the employees overall were nice and helpful. Feeding the giraffes was also fun, in case you decide to go for that they give you lettuce to feed to the giraffes and you cant tear up the lettuce, from what the zookeepers tell us they were mostly just water to them and you cant touch or pet the giraffes while feeding take a quick picture and leave do mind there are a lot of people waiting behind so try to keep a fair pace. Overall not a bad experience but I feel there needs to be more attractions to keep adults and teens busy besides little kids ages 3-10. I would go again when they decide to add anymore exhibits or attractions.
Lot a huge zoo, limited but good attractions. Animals, rides, giraffe feeding, play area. 4 hour is ideal time to see all. Limited food choices in cafe. Perfect for toddlers.
Great for kids and adults... Their 2 zip line and obstacle courses (one adult and one child) were great fun for everyone who tried them. Great animal displays too.
Great family fun and very educational! Make sure to feed the giraffes!
My wife and I were there for the first time. It is 10× time different then the philadelphia zoo
A zoo for adults as much as it is for kids. Beer and wine at various food stands. Also feed the giraffes it's worth it.
The giraffe feeding is what I come for. Zoo is a little small but it's neat. Never super crowded. There are a few hands on exibits. And I always love a place that takes care of military and vets
My kids with ADHD and autism loved loved the zoo. My son with autism really enjoyed the sensory aspects and it wasn't too overwhelming for my daughter with ADHD
Good place to take your kids to show few wild animals. There are also some activities for kids. We spent around max 2 hours.
Nice to have a zoo so close to home.
such an amazing time at Elmwood! a great place to go with little kids and feeding the animals was the highlight of our summer!
Great! Family Fun. Zip lining to the Percussion Garden for kids & playground.
The zoo was fun, but the giraffe feeding dampered my mood. The workers were being rude to a special needs guy and they all looked bored! They didn't care to help with anything!
The Elmwood Zoo is a great place to take kids because it is not too large. There are areas for kids to play. The Bald Eagles are mesmerizing. Take the opportunity to feed a giraffe. It's a neat attraction. There are snacks and treats on the grounds. It really is a gem to discover.
We won free tickets to this zoo, which is the only reason we drove an hour and a half to visit it. On a normal day, we would not drive so far to visit this zoo and probably won't visit again. It was nice. Small. It would be good for small children. There are lots of play areas for kids. The people here are nice. Several of the attractions were closed. The zebras were MIA. The giraffes have been moved to make way for the reindeer attraction coming after Thanksgiving. Several of the animals were also missing from their exhibits. I'm not sure if it's because we came in the afternoon as it was feeding time, but they were just not there. Also, the several places they had to eat were closed, as was the merry-go-round. The Birds of Paradise exhibit was also closed. Besides missing some animals, it was still a zoo and it was still cute.
Great value for the money. Not busy at all. We fed the giraffes which was awesome but none of the drink stands were open and a few of the vending machines were selling warm waters and sodas. The one vending machine took our money and we received no bottle of water
I expected this zoo to be small- but was I disappointed!!!! the animals had maybe 1 or 2 of them in the exhibit so of course I felt bad for them being lonely. Also many of the exhibits didnt have grass!!! The animals were walking on just dirt! So heartbreaking! There was no mini donkey either! We walked the entire zoo in an hour! It is more kid oriented then anything else. Also the parking lot was being worked on which was fine- but it was beyond difficult to find somewhere to park- people parked on the grass or in the dirt wherever they were able to! Not worth the price!
Great zoo! The animals were pretty active which was awesome! A lot of stuff was closed as it's off season, but we still had a lot of fun. You can feed some of the animals too, which we will be doing next time!
