This Zoo belongs to the category of Zoo.
This zoo had it all! They presently have an exposition on Australia. My grandsons saw a hopping kangaroo as well as many other wonderful animal of different species. When we were finished seeing the animals, my 3 year rode a small train while the 5 year old played on the nearby playground. After that we enjoyed watching them play at the city sponsored water park just a bit away on the same grounds. It was a wonderful day for all of us!
Quiet, peaceful.... Can either barbecue, visit the zoo, or feed ducks Bike ride, and place for you to take children
Visited to see night lights decoration during Xmas.. it was great experience.. but should've visited other day than Xmas
Loved it! Have not been since I was a child and I brought my 9 year old nephew and 11 month old son. Highly reccomend getting a tour. The tour guide called the animals and they came over to us so we could get a closer look. So many interesting facts and a lot of fun for the kids!
Saturday 70° outside nd the Zoo closes at 4pm..... Got here for 3, had lunch wit my kid, then went to zoo nd it was closed by 3:45.
Love the zoo!
It's a small zoo with many small animals. I think younger children love this.Very clean.
This is more for kids. Doesn't have lion or Rhino.
The zoo is very nice and has a wide variety of animals for its size. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. In the morning it is common to hear lots of wild noises like monkeys howling and donkeys braying. It's charming when lots of the animals seem to be talking to each other across the zoo. There are lots of babies, especially goats. My favorite animals are the wolves.
Really nice park in the middle of Springfield.
Hi I moved to Springfield ma a year ago from NYC and to me Forest park zoo is a good to to visit with family and friends the only reason why I gave it 3 stars is because it's a small zoo compared to what I'm use seeing from the Bronx zoo , it only takes just about 15 to 25mins to walk through all the animal sections of the forest park zoo if your not the lingering type and stay watching each animal for 5mins each but if you aren't then your done , just wish it was bigger
I lived in mass 6 yrs and finally I went, it was ok they should free those animals.
It's small but nice easy for little kids. They also have a park picnic areas etc. There is a parking fee but it's $5.00 if you want to go there it's definitely worth it.
Nice place to take the kids or a date .....big park to enjoy the outdoors ..picnic area ..grills ..active people would enjoy this spot...
I have been going to FOREST PARK for over 40yrs .... Such a BEAUTIFUL Park with so much space to relax and unwind ....to see a concert in the ampitheater ...ride a bike , fish and wildlife ..... SO MUCH TO SEE ..... baseball games ...
Excellent education center that clearly prioritizes the well being of the animals. Have been visiting since I was a kiddo and now visit with my friends and their kiddos. Certainly a park that deserves support.
Small for a zoo, but staff are friendly and they have some beautiful animals (leopard my favorite) but I wish their enclosures were bigger, especially for some of the birds.

Great little zoo. Very well kept. Animals are there for reasons that prevent them from being released. For that reason I am ok with this zoo. Normally I do not support zoos for profit. Would def recommend
Animals were different and place was clean. Would have loved to stay longer!
A place you can feel and receive a happy smile laugh and love .sweet heart of animals who are saved there.
We loved the zoo! Our pet snake "ELVIS" is now a new resident. We look forward to visiting him real soon
Sad. Is not that before... Abandoned. It was so beautiful before.
Now to the Zoo. Your first impression may be a little depressing, as you drive up to park you see what looks like a very small area. Don't be fooled, it is larger than it looks and they pack in the exhibits with very little wasted space. Good for both getting through the Zoo with little ones and always feeling like you are surrounded by animals.
My son had his birthday party here. The staff were amazing and the kids had a great time!
Great little zoo. Easy walking thru, not too big. Animals are friendly.
They have upped the entrance fee to $10 per person. It's not exactly a great zoo. Small cages, many empty cages.
Need more cleaning around more animals but still a great place to pass the date with the family
Nice small zoo. Many if not most animals are rescues. Not big of a place so it is great for families with little ones.
Had a great time! Family friendly no drama. Safe courteous Police. Can't say the same of HUMBOLDT PARK . Everyone barbecuing. Invited to eat by total strangers.
Great assortment of animals. Family friendly
Beautiful zoo
Awesome time with my grandson.
We were there last Saturday. It was terrible!! And trash and leaves all over like nobody worked there. Where are the grounds crew keeping the place clean. Most exhibits were not available to see. It was a sunny 70 degree Saturday. If the Zoo is Open then the exhibits should be open.
A good amount of animals and u can feed them as well
Gorgeous park.
A nice place to see and feed some animals.
My girl and I saw the lights the night before my birthday. It was awesome.
Nice local zoo, great for kids.
Nice park lots of space for walking and adventures.
Very large variety of animals, all of whom look healthy to my layman's eye. Zookeeper's and staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the zoo is spacious enough you always have room to navigate or get a better angle on the critters. Just the nicest donkeys and goats I've ever met who love the 25-50 cent snacks. The enclosures aren't the most spacious or fancy, but every animal has friends, toys, climbing/hiding spots, and bigger animals do have some run-around room. Also there is one peacock who constantly escapes and he's beautiful.
This is one of the best place to go to. They treat animals good and even let some roam around. There are all kinds of animals too! My family loved it.
A cute zoo even if it is a bit small. It has a really nice homey feel to it, its literally a zoo in the woods!!!
This is a GREAT zoo. I love the animals here, and they are very well taken care of.
Walked in there. Haven't been there in over 40 years.
Great place to have a picnic with the Family and very pictures for those that take picture
As someone who owns an wildlife sanctuary and education center; this place is doing so much wrong. There is everything wrong with misrepresentation of domestic dogs as wolves/wolfdogs. It can cause visitors to believe that their domestic dog is a wolfdog and when they start making claims that they are then the dogs will be euthanized. This is a dangerous game and an educational facility should know better than to misrepresent their animals!
Nice park
Perfect sized zoo. Nice cool place. There is a children's play area as well. The perfect setup in a forest.
For the size of it, this should be a free zoo. Save ur money & enjoy the free wildlife that roams the rest of the open areas.
Great place for family pick nick and walk. Family loved it.
This place was so cool! We had no idea there was a zoo in Springfield. The animals seemed happy and responsive. The zoo is in the middle of a really cool park. We came on a rainy day so we were the only people there. Don't miss Cassie the Cotoye.
Great little zoo. Not too pricey and just large enough that the kids don't get bored and over tired.
Friendly staff, clean park
They are misrepresenting dog mixes for wolves.. it's sad and horrible..they may have a couple super low contents with ZERO phenotyped traits. They are blocking and deleting people who are experts on wolfdogs who comment otherwise. Also they use the term wolf "hyrbid" which is an incorrect term all together. These so called experts are clueless
Way better this Year
Small zoo, always clean, friendly staff, animals seem well taken care of, very reasonable admission.
Kenny was wonderful in explaining about the various animals to the children in my Kindergarten class. The zoo was clean, well kept, and the animals looked to be quite content.
Very small zoo. I was pretty happy with the zoo until I got to the wolf enclosure. I'm pretty sure the timber wolves were a hybrid with a domestic dog based on the stature and head structure. The "arctic wolves" were very clearly huskies. A quick google search for size and appearance confirmed our suspicions. I can not give a good rating to an institution built to educate that is clearly lying to its guests.
Small, but extremely well maintained zoo. All the animals were healthy and active. Staff was friendly and answered my kids questions. Definitely worth a visit!
If I could give you 0 stars I would but that’s not an option. Stop mislabeling! It’s not cool and you do not have an Arctic Wolf or Wolfdog what so ever. The fact that an Education Center is mislabeling a DOG is disgusting.
I visited the park around. The zoo is small but nice. All the park is beautiful and have playgrounds for the kids.
It's a nice park, and the zoo is nice. I like that you can get close to the animals. The price for the size of the zoo is good, but not great.
Under construction not....just no animals

Currently under construction. Probably nice during xmas time. Decent place to go for a walk or play on the playground (if groups of older kids aren't hanging around being obnoxious.) This place could use some security.
It was a very nice day. Pretty low cost on admission.
It's all right good for the kids
I hadn't visited the zoo for 50 years. Not many animals left, which is how it should be! The park was as beautiful as ever!
Great for the kids
Not bad but needs news cages
This is a zoo of convenience. It's easy to get to and inexpensive to enter, but I always feel terrible for the animals kept there. They're in small enclosures with little or nothing to entertain them, and always look so sad. Although the zoo does have a few impressive animals (a few types of monkeys, a pair of Arctic wolves, a bald eagle, a lynx, a spotted leopard) the rest of the animals are decidedly UNimpressive (goats, donkey, chickens, turtles, raccoons, etc.) It's a small zoo with sad animals, but I guess if you needed something to do to get the kids out of the house for a couple hours, it's a decent place to take them.
I liked it because it was cool getting to see animals you most likely won't see in other zoos like Camels is cool bit the fact that they make noise is one star deducted from the rate.
Took my 3 yr old nephew it was the perfect place for the little guy. We enjoyed the gardens afterward.
This is one of the best place to go to. They treat animals good and even let some roam around. There are all kinds of animals too! My family loved it.
We love going to Forest Park for bright lights every year. You can visit Santa Mama there are three little kitty rides that you can go on as well as a snack area and the lights are fantastic! I've been to many other displays and this one is by far superior! The advertisements are to a minimum and they add more and more every year I absolutely love it here and the boys do too!
Had a good day
There were many empty cages. I hope this was due to being early in the season. Mostly no exotic animals such as the majestic: donkey, skunk, raccoon, goat, and bobcat. Good zoo for young children.
Yesterday I drove from Connecticut to visit your zoo with two small grandchildren. Animals are all they talk about. I did my research on your hours open to the public and it clearly stated you opened at 11 am on Thursdays. We arrived to see many school children there, but were told that the zoo was closed. I understand that there are exceptions for schools and outings this time of the year, but my frustration is that you need to update the website to reflect hours open to the public. I had two very disappointed children. Your zoo attendant at the gate told me that the website was wrong and in fact there were two different sites. That google does not show the right information. Maybe you should check into this , especially for people driving from a distance. My saving grace yesterday was we found Lupa Zoo, 20 mins away.
An asset to this region. Grew up going here and still enjoy every visit. Highly recommend!
Great park beautiful scenery well worth the trip
A fun day out as a family.
Nice little zoo. Great for small children or people who don't want to do the large zoo because of the walking.
I'm wondering why this zoo isn't up to standards and why the animals have such small cages . Please consider a fundraiser !!!!
Fun time with kids
Great little zoo. Nice selection of animals.
Excellent family zoo inside beautiful Forest Park! Just the right amount of exhibits to keep the childrens attention. Very clean; and happy inhabitants!
Beautiful place to visit
Animals weren't very well maintained the pens were very dirty and the animals didnt look very happy in their enclosures
It was fantastic. Huge crowd enjoying a beautiful day with our amazing animals, and of course tasting the many brews. Hats off to all who made this perfect day, perfect! Just love our Forest Park Zoo and Education Center! Happy animals and wonderful guests today.
We, in Western Mass, are so lucky to have this Zoo right in our back yard. The zoo is always clean and well maintained. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and hard working. They go above and beyond to share their expertise with zoo goers and students who are lucky enough to see the “Zoo On The Go” program and close encounters. As someone who has worked in the animal care field for many years, it is obvious to me that the comfort, health, and welfare of all the animals is number one to all who spend their days at this zoo. This includes everyone from the administrators and social media guru, to the animal care staff, interns, volunteers, educators, maintenance, photographer, the camp kids and everyone in between. I am confident that all these lovable critters who can no longer live in the wild, have found their best forever homes. Thank you all for the care and time that you put into this wonderful zoo every single day.
This place is amazing, perfect place to have a birthday. Me and my family had a great time, and the zoo was amazing, all different types of animals from turtles to camels, wolf's, and Coyote's armadillos kangaroos lemurs little tiny monkeys horses goats chicken snakes lizards, and they have a few big cats lol. It's a beautiful park with plenty of things to do. And just to remind people the front main entrance on. Sumner Ave is closed for construction.
It was fantastic. Huge crowd enjoying a beautiful day with our amazing animals, and of course tasting the many brews. Hats off to all who made this perfect day, perfect! Just love our Forest Park Zoo and Education Center! Happy animals and wonderful guests today.
Wonderful local zoo! Lots of different animals and can feed many of them
Bright Nights was again a hit for my kids & I.
The zoo is a gem. It's just the right size to get up close and personal with the animals. Easy to get to and family friendly.
The animals look so dirty, old and unhappy. The price is a little expensive for what you seeing. I feel bad for the animals there they dont look like they are getting the best care. They should close the "zoo" all together. The animals looked half alive at best. Very sad.
Small but very fun. Went out from Connecticut and the kids had a blast. They loved the donkeys most of all.
Great place! A little crowded for a whole school to visit, but otherwise, awesome time.
Had a good time. Nice Zoo

Me and my boyfriend were not sure how many animals were there or how large it would be but there were plenty of animals and exhibits! It should be even better in warmer weather.
This is a hidden gem. Very inexpensive and a great day out with my boy.
We have been to this zoo about 30 or 40 times this year! With a family pass, I can take my grandchildren and even a friend or 2 any day I want. We love the animals, and know many by name. The zoo staff is always friendly and willing to answer questions. I can't say enough about this zoo. We live close by and I am always so grateful that we have this wonderful resource nearby!
This zoo was much bigger than I thought. The cost is $ 10.00 for adults and $ 5.00 for kids 12 and under. Please note that they have closed off some of the entrances to Forest Park and I only saw 2 open entrances and you now have to pay $ 5.00 to get into the park as well. I did not see this listed on the Forest Park website so I dont know how recent the change is because I havent been down this way in a few years. I'm undecided as to how I feel about zoo's in general because on one hand nothing deserves to be caged but on the other you get too see animals that you otherwise may never get to see such as the kangaroos that they have here or the endangered Timber Wolves. They also have goats, chickens, turkeys, turtles, emus and many more animals.
Rated 3 stars because the zoo is small and many of the animals can be found at farms (such as goats and pigs).
A wonderful place to escape for a couple of hours and learn about nature. Clean and well kept.
Love spending the day with family here
It id Overrated and very expensive, doesn't have animals and some of the zoo workers are Extremely Stupid!
Wish it had more for the price but it was fun for my 2 year old.
I got recognition from the parks peacock. We communicated and re-remembered our connection. We were always connected.
Was a good time for a small zoo wish they had more animals
Great place for some animal education. Staff is amazing.
My new found treasure. We had so much fun as a family
If you're looking for an enexpensive, fun, educational way to spend the afternoon on a sunny day, the Forest Park Zoo is a diamond in the rough (sort of a rough cut diamond, but still). If you're local like we are, spend the $85 for a season pass.
Great little zoo, somewhat small but perfect for the price and the park itself is a bonus. No lions tigers or bears, but there is plenty to see and it's never packed. You do have to pay an entrance fee for the park that is separate from your zoo entrance fee.
Great little zoo!
The zoo is very clean and the staff are k knowledgeable. The animals were active and there was a nice variety to see.
Nice little suburban zoo.
I enjoy the zoo here. I heard a lot of people complaining about the price. It's not cheap but it's also not expensive. This was my second time here. It's not an amazing zoo so do expect a huge place but its definitely worth the trip.
Love it been going for 45 years
Small local attempt at a Zoo. Maybe in the past it had some glory, but now it's sad. Mostly farm animals you can see at Grand-Val Ice Cream, in Granville Ma for free. There are a few big cats, a couple camels, a few ringtail lemurs, and a few small monkeys. Should not be $10 plus park admittance.
Nothing to do except look at animals in cages. Small petting zoo. 30 minutes from start to finish.
The parking was confusing we drove through a few times trying to park near our grandsons 1st Birthday party We wound up parking and walking to find the entrance to the zoo which could have been better maintained. The birthday party was celebrated under a nice large tent. We were lucky and the weather was great. It was fun to walk through the zoo wondering what kind of an animal we would see next we enjoyed feeding the animals. But some of the animals didn't seem to be happy. There also were some empty cages. They snack bar and gift shop.
It's a small zoo but the people that is working there is kind and the animals are beautiful. Very clean too. There are some cute spots for walk around the zoo, a park, a pool and a lake.
We did Bright Night. it was hell we were in line for 3 hrs in our car but the kids enjoyed it. Other than that it was great.
Had a wonderful time with one of my best friends and her boys. They already want to go back. You don't have to have childern to enjoy it. I especially like the big cats.
Nice smaller zoo if you don't like to walk much
Very nice place for the entire family
Great local zoo. Nice variety of animals
Small zoo but it makes for a decent afternoon.
We attended a birthday party at the zoo in Forest Park. It was great! The zoo keeper brought out a ferret and a snake to show the kids. We saw many animals from around the world and got to feed the barnyard animals.
This place is amazing, perfect place to have a birthday. Nice but small
Always love it there
Little expensive...
What a truly enjoyable Discovery this was. I had been taken there as a child many years ago and ever recently been going there with my family and rediscovered this totally enjoyable facility which primarily houses rescue animals that would not survive their injuries in the wild. It is clean, the animals are well cared for, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. if you're in the Springfield area I highly recommend taking your kids to this location. You will be finished with it within 2 hours and will thoroughly enjoy the experience. I will highlight one disturbing thing though. there is a monkey in the center of the facility named Dewey who has become my arch nemesis. He is the most vulgar and disgusting monkey I've ever witnessed. Each of the last three times I have been to this location he has exhibited vulgar and profane gestures at my direction. I should say much to the enjoyment of my family.
The place is inside a park. So there is enough parking space. The place not much crowded and not much animals too. Only the monkeys were active (obviously). I wouldn't complain given the cost of ticket is so cheap. If you are an animal liver and need a "zoo" experience, this place won't satisfy you. But if you are a parent to a kid, this is a great place to introduce them to animals and see how they react. And no charge for kids under a year. Mine was so scared seeing the Raven. The place is clean and well maintained. It also has a decent sized play area for kids. Parents - recommended
What a great place to bring the family. It's easily accessible from the interstate and right in the heart of a beautiful park.
this place is so good, and they even have a summer school for kids
Beautiful park in theory. Zoo was hard to find as the main entrance and the entrance that GPS takes you to are closed. Street signs did not clearly guide one to the main entrance. If you stop at the entrance gate at the main entrance the guide will give you a small piece of paper with directions to the entrance they want you to use. Entrance into the park is $3.00 and then you are charged again to get into a small zoo. Animals are caged and some do not appear healthy. It was sad to see a bobcat pacing back and forth in it's cage. I saw a chicken acting ill on the outside of the enclosures. There were no attendants nearby to notify of the problem.
Very small but worth it with young kids as they have a variety of animals that you can actually observe very well

It is a small zoo that is geared to children and their adult carers. The playground outside the zoo is toddler friendly. My grandaughter had a wonderful time visiting the zoo and playing at the playground.
Great place to spend time with the family. Love all the animals that are available to see, experience or feed.
The zoo has lots of different animals and was very entertaining for my 4 year old. For a city park the zoo was excellent. Beat my expectations.
Good for kids
Great place to take your kids off you looking to kill an hour or two.
Love this zoo, the people who work there and of course the animals.
Clean, many animals, local and surrounded by a beautiful park to play and explore in.
Paid at the entrance for parking, then paid full price for the zoo where most of the animals where not available to see. Some animals enclosures where being remodeled or animals where as they posted"in vacation".

Was not let in. Arrived before closing time according to online. Emailed zoo but no response from zoo. Drove one hour for nothing!
After the looonnnnggggg wait to get in,it was MAGICAL. great place and santa was great with everyone, especially my grandson..i recomend this place to EVERYONE..
Nice little zoo
Interesting day for the kids
Amazing staff and educational resource! Great way to spend an afternoon!
Very nice, though it was really hot we still were able to see a majority of the animals. (They were out and active) There were a few animals that weren't there, but 98% were❤❤ It's bigger then I thought it was to be honest. $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12. You also have to pay to get in the park $3 for mass plates $5 for out of state. I posted mostly bird pictures because I didn't want to ruin the mystery of what there is for animals! Only thing I was really disappointed with, was there are no tigers!
4 stars cause I did not get to see all the animals some were hiding. Other wise pretty cool for the price
Very nice place to visit with family and friends. My wife and I went Forest Park today. We enjoyed the flowers with great walking. It was really hot and humid but we had good time.
It is good.
Good place..
Neat zoo just up the road from me. The family always enjoys visiting here.
If your an animal lover any zoo seems like torture. Some of the animals here seem loved and taken care of, but they're are a few in question. The "wolves" shouldn't be there. They should be released to a rescue. They are more dog then anything. Seeing as the workers take them out for walks to interact with the people. The fur is matted like they aren't well taken care of. Also, in none of the cages did I notice any access to clean drinking water. That is alarming.
Birthday Parties there are a lot of fun for children and adults. Second year of doing that and recommend it for anyone.
Great. With live animal demonstrations and it is very clean.
Sweet
Was awesome, seemed bigger this year and very crowded on weekends.
Nice place for kids.
Eh. A lot could be done to update the zoo. It would be nice if they got like a six figure donation-LOL. I'm not sure if some of the animals are rescues, but seeing the bald eagle in the pen it's in was really depressing.
Beautiful park. Enormous. Well kept and much to offer for all group ages. Great to visit for special pictures like a wedding, family reunion, graduation etc
