REVIEWS OF Breaux Vineyards IN West Virginia

Breaux Vineyards have 104 acres of grapes on a 400+ acre site with a fantastic tasting room. We tasted 2 whites, a rosé, and three red wines. They had a “Wild Ferment Meritage” that used the natural yeast to ferment the wine. This is a really rare feat from local wineries, and they pulled off a fantastic job! I expect that they will run out quickly of this wine, so get some while you can.

This place is beyond awesome. The staff remembers you, they are friendly and very helpful for first time or experienced wine goers. The wine club is a must do if you like wine you get the most for your money and the wine is the best in the area. The prices here range between $16 and 70 per bottle and the tastings will give you a great idea of what you want. I would suggest the bottle below but all the wines I've had here are out of this world. I became a member a month ago and have come every weekend since. The area is beautiful, and the food is great too. The gumbo reminds me of New Orleans and the grilled cheese is not just for kids. Feel free to bring the pup or a picnic to eat while here too.

Lorrie Rich

We had a wonderful time at the cab vertical!. The food, as always, was amazing. My birthday was last week, and we opened the 2001 Cab that we have had for so many years. The bouquet was amazing, and the wine did not disappoint.

Tasty yet unremarkable. Meritage delicious, but not worth the price... Especially with other delicious VA wine for less.

hands down one of the best and largest vineyards in the region...

My wife and I both found that the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon to be the best wine we tasted that day and quite frankly the best wine in the area. When will that be available for members and the public. We are thinking of joining the Breaux Club!

Dog friendly always wins in my book! The Chere Marie is my favorite wine.

Beautiful location with a great vibe. Paid $60 for an oyster wine pairing. Total rip off. Maybe 1/2 glass of wine and 6 oysters. Pretty much everyone at the table of 30 seemed pissed which made staff short... borderline rude. Not going back.

There was one individual tending the tasting table. I just wanted to get once glass of wine to have on the terrace and relax. He said one minute and then ignored me as I walked around for 5 minutes and ignored the whole time. Never going back, just because I'm young it doesn't mean I don't have money to spend on wine or enjoy my wine. Very disappointed..

Very beautiful grounds and views. The had a great wine selection with knowledgeable staff. I would have liked a better selection of eats. This would have kept us there longer.

Daniel Fellows

Had a fanstastic time! Went in with 10 other people and they served us well. The tour while slightly unorganized and kind of unrehearsed was well done and the lady giving the tour did a great job answering all of our questions and fit right in to our group. The tasting was great I really liked most of the wines... I'm picky so I expect to not like some if not most of them. The only problem I would say is that as far as reservations go it would be wise to call rather than emailing them. Side note here... To the person who said it's "ok wine" and you feel that "ok wine" a tasting for $10 is too much, I'd assume that this is a business. Businesses make money (strange right!?). There was no shortage of visitors on the day we were there and everyone was friendly and happy to help. If $10 is all I need to spend an afternoon here than it's fine by me. If you can't spare $10 for a tasting then you probably shouldn't be out on a tasting anyway.

Garrett Honea

All of the wine is good, and many (esp the reds) are delicious. The service is quick and friendly on release days for members, but otherwise the service is dismissive and not interested in much except getting through the day. The prices are reasonable, and there are frequently special events. It's just so crowded with groups that the service is very mass market. Overall, I buy the wine and drink elsewhere.

Anita Elaina

Hosted an event here, would never do it again. Extremely mismanaged and incompetent staff, ruined our event from head to toe and tried to overcharge at the end. Don’t waste your time, mediocre and not worth the money spent.

I visited Breaux Vineyards with the BF and puppy last weekend for some much needed R&R. It was a gorgeous day, so the place was packed. Luckily, they have many tables out on their patio so we were able to snag one. There's also plenty of open space to enjoy a picnic, which they require for large groups over 8 people. The winery is a 400+ acre estate with over 100 acres of vineyard plantings. It overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Short Hill Mountain, making it an incredibly picturesque place to take in the rolling hills of vines and mountain vistas. We found out about Breaux because they won two gold medals at the 2017 Virginia Governor's Cup, one for their 2012 Meritage and one for their 2014 Meritage. We bought a bottle of the 2012 Meritage along with some cured meats and cheese. The Meritage was wonderful, a medium-bodied red with notes of dark cherry, raspberry, and lavender. I highly recommend it. Only an hour away from D.C., Breaux is perfect for a day's getaway from the city to enjoy some award-wining wine and scenic Virginia views. I think it'd be a great venue for a wedding or formal event. Winery tours are offered on the weekends only and are $5 per guest. Tastings are $10/person in the tasting room.

I don't like crowds and they are always FULL on weekends but met owner's daughter at another local winery and she said to come in near opening time on my day off. Well I did and Elizabeth did my tasting. Sweet young lady and very patient. Wines are excellent and nice deck to sit and enjoy scenery, cheese and meat with my chosen glass of wine after the tasting. Will go back on my day off so I can enjoy without being overwhelmed, may even try again on weekend with friends now that I know where to go. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful winery. Just need more variety to share with the dry drinker and the sweeter drinker. It would bring more visitors, or rather would bring more return visitors.

Sabrina Leckemby

A friend and I attended a cheese tasting event and also did a wine tasting followed by a few extra glasses of the wines we liked, along with a bottle I purchased to take home (white malbec) 2016 'Vin Gris" and was very excited to enjoy this at a later time. A few short weeks later when I was ready to enjoy a glass, the first taste was extremely sour. I paid a pretty penny for this bottle and was disappointed at how quickly it went bad. Perhaps there were "care" instructions that could have been provided at purchase to prevent this, but since that was not the case, the wine was undrinkable. I left it on my bar, out of sunlight in room temperate for 3 weeks. While at the winery for the event, we did enjoy plenty of seating in the tasting room and a friendly staff who explained each wine and how it was fermented, materials and ingredients involved.

One of our favorite wineries. Great wine, nice events for wine club members (very much worth it) and a fun place to bring a picnic. PLenty of room for the kids to run around, and there are lots of kids and dogs on the weekends. Fun live music from time to time, as well.

This place is very unprofessional. Tracy the manager saw our group walk off the wine tour bus and immediately try and kick us out of the winery. We were only trying to order wine and for some reason the manager Tracy felt we were being inappropriate. We tried to describe the situation and she would not hear any of it. I understand if customers are too intoxicated they should not be served and that’s the responsibility of management, however, that does not mean management should treat customers disrespectfully. Very disappointed.

Beautiful place to spend your weekend. Good wine, nice settings, good french bread. The sandwiches are not their specialty.

We were married at Breaux Vineyards in 2013 and couldn’t be more satisfied with the way things turned out. The choice was easy for us. The site was beautiful and the wines are our favorite in Virginia. We appreciate that Breaux Vineyards produces the wines from their vines on the winery site, unlike some of their competitors. The vineyard views from the Acadia really added a lot to our wedding night. We tell all of our friends about Breaux Vineyards are so happy to also be in their Cellar Club. I can recommend Breaux Vineyards for the wines, events and beauty as well as the hospitality of the Breaux family and staff. We are very pleased with their wine club as well

I wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time at the Barrel tasting last Saturday. My friends, whom we have known since 1977, had never been to a wine event, and they loved it. The food was perfectly paired with the wines, and the wines were the best barrel selections ever.

I was a member of Breaux since before they built their new buildings and they were fantastic. Over the last 2 years though I've been left with a sour taste in my mouth with their lack of customer service. Last March before one of their vertical wine dinners I was emailed saying their computer system messed up and I owed an additional amount. I didn't think this was fair since it was their computer system that made the mistake but I paid what they were asking for. I have been to their wine tastings between then and now and their price has increased for the tasting which is fine, but when other winery memberships offer free tastings on their full tasting menu it's not a plus to be apart of their membership. On another instance, I called to cancel my membership and when I questioned if in fact I had called the winery, I was met with "Did you not hear me when I picked up the phone?" Sorry to bother you. So I did end up emailing to cancel my membership and again was met with customer service that could be improved upon. My first email went unanswered for about 48 hours. I emailed again asking for a status on my cancellation request. I got a response this time with some additional information that their cellar club manager only works certain days of the week. Ok. No problem. But a few weeks after, I got an email saying that my credit card would be charged for the cellar club. So again I had to email and ask if in fact my cellar club was canceled. I got an email back saying that due to snow and ice storms that it got messed up and I was not canceled. I hope going forward that Breaux learns how to treat their customers with better customer service and a more welcoming experience.

Breaux vineyards is a beautiful place. We love to go there, especially on a beautiful day, and first do a wine tasting, then go out onto the grass and enjoy a bottle of wine with some crackers and cheese. There is a special area for people with dogs. If you decide to go out in this area you need to pay attention not just your food but your wine. One little rascal came over and was drinking my wine out of my glass. I wasn't expecting that. Thought he would be after the food, but he wanted the wine. Fun day all around. I think he took a sip out of everyone's glass. Maybe time for a doggy intervention? LOL.

Lovely views, upscale tasting room filled with energy... Only had the Sauv Blanc which was serviceable, albeit a bit overpriced on the QPR ratio, still the setting makes this a worthy stop.

We went to breaux yesterday for my daughter's 30th birthday celebration. We had a group of 15, for which I made a reservation for a wine tasting. The wines were absolutely delicious. We all loved Ken, who was patiently pouring our wines with such a great attitude. I pre-ordered the Mediterranean platter.....again delicious. The grounds are gorgeous and we sat at a table with a beautiful view. I will definitely be visiting again with friends. Thank you for making our day!

Never, ever again. I have gone to Breaux many times. There is a dingbat there lately, and no other word for her. Seems to wear a beanie on her fake blonde hair and is clearly somehow related to the owners of Breaux. This dingbat, if I owned Breaux would be band from the place. you can tell she has never worked to earn anything in her life and feels as though she owns the place. She is a dingbat. She reserves six tables for her motley crue. so while people are trying to find a place to sit there are none because dingbat and her motley crue are taking up a couch, 3 chairs, and and another table table somewhere else until they decide it is time for motley crue to go to their reserved tables. I am sitting there at a table minding my own business by myself enjoying wine, listening to music and watching a basketball game on my tiny phone screen. Not bothering anyone. I was watching this game for almost 2 hours. No one at the motley crue table knew or cared. Out of no where blonde dingbat with the beanie on her head who thinks she owns the place and has never earned a dollar in her life comes over to me and tells me to turn down the volume on my phone where I am watching the game. Now the only reason dingbat knew I was watching the game was because she was sitting at the end of her motley crue table behind me and could see the basketball game. 8 or 10 of her motley crue friends sat closer to me than she did. Not one of them was disturbed by me watching a basketball game on my phone. In fact, most didn't even know. They couldn't hear the volume because I couldn't hear the volume, because there was live music playing. Nothing and no one were bothering anything. This fake blonde dingbat with the beanie on her head proceeds to tell me that everyone at her motley crue table was saying something to her about where the noise from the game was coming from. I sat right next to every one of these motley crue people. Closer to them than she did. Not one of them paid any attention to me or even knew or heard that I was watching a basketball game on my TV. This dingbat feels so privileged, so entitled, at this winery it is disgusting. And this dingbat clearly has no clue what customer service is or who paying customers are. This fake blonde, beanie wearing, dingbat had nothing better to do than to tell me to turn down my volume on my little phone that absolutely no one could hear simply because she has been led to believe somehow or someway she matters. It was disgusting. What was mot disgusting about it was my little phone that, God strike me dead, no one heard was a problem. Yet this fake blonde beanie wearing dingbat reserved like 6 tables, 12 chairs, but then proceeded to have her motley crue gather at a completely different location, taking up an entire coach, 2 chairs, and two other tables. People, paying customers, could not find a place to sit because of this dingbat. Yet there sat 6 tables, 12 chairs empty with reserved signs. It is disgusting that the owners let this fake blonde, beanie wearing dingbat show up every 4th Friday and act as she does. It is crystal clear the owners have no appreciation for customer service and paying customers. First and foremost priority is fake blonde, beanie wearing, rude, dingbat, drinking for free, is enjoying herself. There are many wineries in the area. Wineries that have some clue how to treat paying customers. I would encourage everyone to avoid Breaux Winery until someone bans know nothing, do nothing, fake blonde, beanie wearing dingbat from the winery. Been a lot of places in a lot of cities, states, countries. If I owned Breaux, fake blonde, beanie wearing, rude, clueless, dingbat would never be allowed on the property again. What an embarrassment.

Breaux Vineyard is an award winning winery 1.5 hours outside of Washington, DC in the historic part of the Virginian country. It's on a hill in the country with beautiful views of more hills and winery fields. The manor itself is beautiful and very large. Inside, there are several tasting rooms, a store, and a very large outdoor patio. They have wine tastings throughout the day and the wine is good! They also host a lot of weddings making for a beautiful backdrop with the Virginia countryside. They do their own food for weddings and it is just okay. The meat was dry, but the mashed potatoes were out of this world.

The wine was good but the service left a lot to be desired. No one was overly friendly or welcoming, it also felt like we kept doing things wrong because multiple staff members would come up to our group telling us we “couldn’t do something”, including putting our cheese platter on the bar, going upstairs to see the event space (which another staff memeber already told us to go on up and check it out), and after one of our friends brought a bottle of non alcoholic wine because she is pregnant (which she got approved to drink while there from another staff member) two women who worked there came up to her and basically berated her for having outside wine and then demanded to know who told her she could drink that and what they were wearing?!! It just felt like they were watching our every move and constantly had something negative to say. This was all in the middle of the day on a quiet winter Sunday, and we were not loud or obnoxious ( it was a couple of friends with some family visiting from out of town with an infant!) needless to say with all of the wineries in loudoun country we won’t be returning due to their lack of customer service. Take your business elsewhere if you want a nice relaxed day of wine tasting!

It was a beautiful setting to have a wedding. We came a bit early for the wedding, so we did a wine tasting. Everyone's taste buds are different with wine. My thoughts .... for the tasting very expensive, plus if you buy a bottle they don't drop the charge for tasting. Been to hundreds of winery's, never around this area .. hope its not a trend. Music in the seating area Sunday 3/25/18 was excellent. Nice staff & the visitors.

Views are absolutely stunning. Seems a little more of a party type of vineyard where turning 21 year olds come to get hammered. Tasting room was very loud and difficult to talk to anyone you came with. Very knowledgeable staff. Wines were ok. Nothing that really jumps out at you. Beautiful building and facilities.

I was very disappointed when i walked in at 4:47 pm and was told that the wine tasting ended at 4:45 pm and that they would not serve me. Their websites states 11-6 pm and when I called the night before I drove one hour to the winery I was given the same times. If the tasting ends at 4:45 pm and not 6pm it is very inconsiderate to withhold that type of information from potential customers who drive out to visit. I will be sure to visit every winery in the area except this place.

Very scenic winery with a large vineyard. The driveway is pretty long, with a few lots that provide plenty of parking. The building has a large downstairs tasting bar with tables to sit at for eating, as well as an upstairs tasting room for private tastings. The patios outside are really nice and have a great view of the vineyards. The staff was very friendly and pretty knowledgeable about the wines. We enjoyed the 2015 Meritage and the 2016 Merlot. Beautiful views and good for groups.

Visited during Cajun Festival 2019. I had two kids and they were very accommodating and took amazing care of us. Stand up winery run with candor, hospitality, and family-friendly attitude. Keep up the great work!

Breaux is truly a special place. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the views are simply breathtaking. We love reds all season and our favorites are The Equation Red and Meritage. The Barrell Select Rosé is also wonderful especially during a warm summers day. They have an amazing array of chocolates in which I always indulge in each visit. Jennifer and staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell that they take pride into being a great team and you will always learn something new through each pour. If your looking for a vineyard that has it all, this is definelty it! Cheers!

My husband and I had a most disturbing experience on the grounds of Breaux Vineyard on Sunday, May 20th. As he and I traveled down the road on which the vineyard is located, we noticed a sign announcing a Cajun Festival to take place on June 9th. This peeked our curiosity, so we decided to pull over to check their website for more details and confer with our social calendar. Shortly after exiting our vehicle, as we were taking in the breathtaking scenery, a vehicle approached us from what we assumed was the main property. It contained an African American woman and a white male. The vehicle stopped perpendicular to ours, and the woman, in a most pleasant and kind voice, asked if we were ok. When I told her we had just pulled off the road for a moment, she said they were just checking to see if we were in need of any assistance. We also asked if there was a restaurant on the property. She said there was, but that it was closed at this time. I thanked her for the information and expressed my appreciation for her offer to assist. They then pulled away, and on to the main road. My husband and I commented to each other about how that encounter reaffirmed our faith in our fellow man's sense of concern and willingness to offer assistance to strangers. Those blissful sentiments were quickly shattered when the next two vehicles shortly arrived. We heard a horn blow and saw a dark colored SUV pull a few yards from our vehicle, shortly followed by a white woman driving a small black vehicle pulling up and stopping behind our vehicle. In a stern, irate voice she exclaimed, "What are you doing here?! This is private property! I will get fired if I left you on the property! I tried to explain to her why we were there. She ignored my words, and instead responded, "I am going to back up my vehicle and you are going to get in your car and leave the property right now"! My husband and I returned to our vehicle and quickly exited on to the main road. As we traveled down the road away from the property, we noticed the woman in the black SUV was in front our vehicle and the woman in the small black car behind us. The woman behind us began to follow us at unusually close distance. We noticed that she was now on her telephone. With the number of incidents involving the overreaction of white people encountering African Americans and viewing us as threats, my husband decided to increase his speed slightly to place some distance between our vehicles. We became even more alarmed when the vehicle behind us increased her speed which placed her within a few feet of ours. What made the situation even more harrowing was when we decided to pull off the road to allow her vehicle to pass, she stopped her vehicle on the side of the road. We also noticed the dark SUV had pulled over as well. Shortly after, we reentered the road, the vehicles continued to closely tail us. We debated about whether to telephone the authorities, but quickly dismissed the thought out of concern for our own safety given the current climate. This was a very unfortunate and horrifying experience for us. My husband and I are profoundly saddened by how such a beautiful day could have ended with our being pursued as though we were hardened criminals. It was a terrifying ordeal. It seems that there are still those in our society who are ignorant, and bigoted. In the end, we emerged shaken, but still optimistic that things will improve, and we will one day live in a society where people are not judge by the color of their skin. We hope that someone at Breaux Vineyards will read this post and have a conversation with the two women who pursued us like we were fugitives. We also implore others to hold them and everyone else they encounter who chooses to engage in such divisive, reprehensible behavior, accountable by shining the light on them so powerful, they are forced out of the shadows. This is the dirty, ugly side of humankind and it needs to end before we destroy all the good that is left.

It's a beautiful location... but that's about all it's got going for it. The wine was OK and for okay wine a $10 tasting fee was a waste of money. The place was also very crowded and the staff was rude. If you want a more intimate experience and better wine, look elsewhere.

The pictures just don't do this beautiful place justice. It is an exceptional setting among the vineyards and hills/mountain. Even on a busy weekend day, there is plenty of indoor and outdoor space for all to enjoy. Great place to enjoy some delicious wine and relax. Even on a cold winter day, you can enjoy the great views from inside the nice (huge) tasting room. Well worth the visit.

I was on vacation on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and drinking your wine (Jennifer’s Jambalaya) by the pool. Some other people walked by and saw the label and let me know that they are Cellar Club members at Breaux Vineyards…. So am I! What a small world. We sipped your wine and ended up having dinner together and drinking a bottle of your Sauvignon Blanc. We actually both live In Ashburn, VA and didn’t even know it. We’ll be visiting you soon together and will share another bottle to commemorate our vacation in NC. We made great friends over great wine thanks to Breaux and I wanted to let you know.

Very Friendly Staff! They let us take our Bulldog "Angus" inside and have a tasting with him at our feet! Let's talk about the wines....They are very well made! Extremely good Value. Their reds are complex and well balanced. The whites are just as complex. We didn't taste a wine that we did not like!

This place is a hit or miss. This was my second visit. The first was in April for my birthday with my wife and siblings on a Saturday afternoon. Weekends are primetime for this place. We weren't attended to as closely being that is was pretty packed. The second trip was in July on a Wednesday afternoon. The place was almost empty. Pretty much had the place to ourselves. There are other vineyards in the area so we plan to try them as well. In regards to the other reviews that people have left about being mistreated, some are very believable. You have to remember that this in Northern Virginia right on the border with West Virginia. If you are an ethnicity that isn't white, you are considered an outsider. Just keep that in the back of your head when you visit and hope that your experience is a nice one.

Megan Farrell

We came here for the Key West Festival and had a great time. We are not from the area and happened to find it online and met some great people all because the venue put out a sandbox for kids (super thoughtful). While the wines were okay, I thought the festival was great. Awesome music, several food trucks, lots of available tables, and a great value for a $20 ticket. We favored their Jolie Blonde and Madeline’s Chardonnay over their other wines. Someone we ended up sitting with said it was one of the better wineries in the area which was good to know!

My sisters, mother, and I visited Breaux vineyards on a saturday and we had an awesome time! The manor is a beautiful, Tuscany-styled building overlooking the mountains and rows of vines. When we approached the tasting bar, we were immediately greeted by Ken, who was an excellent and knowledgeable host. He didn't rush us and was very attentive giving us an extra 3 sweet wine tastings! The atmosphere was very relaxed. Guests were lounging outside drinking wine while kids played and some people also had their dogs with them. They had corn hole set up outside. Breaux vineyards has a little bit of everything and I highly recommend it for a family outting!

If you must visit s Vineyard make sure you come here. The staff of this well-educated family-owned business is marvelous. The wines are very scrumptious. I must admit I was not in love with the Merlot however the sauvigoun blanc was right on point

My family has visited Breaux Vineyards for several years. We have seen them grow and we have remained huge fans and cellar members through it all. We are looking forward to the opening of new tasting room and cellar club areas.

Beautiful Vineyard with a festive atmosphere. The staff were all helpful and pleasant. I enjoyed my visit and my wife and I are already planning our next visit. For us it is a 2 hour drive but we'll worth it. We enjoyed all of the wines we tasted.

Great winery and wines my only complaint is the Orleans patio is supposed to be no one under 21 and no pets.....they don't follow their rules.

Breaux Vineyards creates and produces some of the most amazing events and festivals in the DC Metro area. We always enjoy participating and attending them every year!!

Just left the Key West festival@Breaux today and it was awesome. Their wines are fantastic, too! Sandy, our hostess for the wine tasting, was very friendly and knowledgable. She introduced us to the Cellar Club concept, which we joined, and we are looking forward to enjoying their special wines throughout the year! Will definitely be returning to visit soon!
