Good beer selection to include Belgium Triples, sangria, oysters & brick oven pizza. Live music on weekends. Swipe your card once and you can use it at every station for your visit. Enjoy it. Cheers!

Carolina L

Absolutely love this winery! A great place to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and the wine tastings are very reasonably priced. It's fantastic that it's dog-friendly as well!

Jerry Sheehan

Very enjoyable, great wine, food and music.

Noah

One of our favorite wineries with fantastic views and pizza.

Pete Christensen

Great wine, great ambiance, super super brew to :-)

Mark Dunbar

Love Barrel Oak! Family and dog friendly! Enjoy the picnic area.

Donna Bisges

Very child and dog friendly. Great house wines and has nice beers for the non-wine drinker. Highly recommend.

Eric M

Ver nice to visit for a day. Between thw brewery and winery there was a ton of drino choices. Brick fired pizza which was excellent, and then shaved ice for dessert. All with a beautiful view of vineyards.

Kevin Moore

Had a blast here today. Got here shortly after opening and stayed until closing. Beer and wine make it a great place to hang out at.

Jeremy Nettnin

Great atmosphere, wine, and beer. Brought the dog, inside and out. Live music. Expensive, but worth it if you watch your budget.

Andrew Bostjancic

I'm not hyperbolic when I say this is my favorite winery in Northern VA. It has the best red wines and a great atmosphere focusing on dogs. If you're in Northern VA you will love this place.

Bob Stanley

Beautiful day to sit and drink good wine ☺️

Jana Waterworth

I will start off that the wine was good. But the place is large and feels too commercial. Not intimate or cozy. Is a great place for dogs - they are allowed inside if you do a wine tasting or have food.

Jordan Wanamaker Javier

Dog friendly, open later than most vineyards and serve beer and wine. Can’t argue with convenience and the friendly staff make this place worth the visit.

Mary Foss

I had a great time here. Food is also very tasty and loved the red wine. Everything was wonderful.

Robert Tafaro

Great atmosphere. Beautiful inside n a great outdoor area as well.

Dean Hickerson

We frequently visit barrel oak for not only their great wine but the incredibly fun atmosphere. We love to bring our dog and enjoy a sunset outside at their huge outdoor patio while the pooch gets to sniff and soak up some sun. They have expanded so much over the last few years and each new addition makes it that much more enjoyable. Recently they have added brick oven pizzas to their offerings and it's phenomenal. It's incredible how many people will be there every weekend. Clearly this winery is doing something right and other wineries in the area may want to take note. It's a very family oriented place that appeals well to young couples.

Raneé Sager Bartley

This was our first winery on our trip to Northern Va. We have passed it numerous times, but finally found time to stop. The staff were excellent, very inviting and their wines were good too. Beautiful property and will return again when we have a little more time to explore the area.

Dori Domerese

Management is not welcoming which affirms what other's have said. We will not be returning.

Eric Hansen

BOW is fun for adults, families, and dogs.

Brenda W

Great place for beer and wine lovers who want to bring their K-9 companions!

Katy Evans

Nice place for family and friends both 2 legged and 4

Cheryl Phillips

Great wine, beer, good and dog friendly. It was an awesome day with our dog!

Tonya Trivett

Made our wedding plans at barrel oak today! Love this place!

Sarah Mysinger

Well. They did have wine and dogs were allowed and there were kids, so they're kid friendly. That's really where they earned all their stars. I sampled their reserve list. The two whites had little aroma. All the wines were poorly balanced and very acidic. Richard was more interested in flirting with the young girls next to me, rather than pouring wine. He failed to finish our 6 wine tasting, passing it off on Taylor who took pity and gave us a sample of a mediocre sweet white wine. If you don't like wine and enjoy pizza, this is your winery.

S P

Great pizza, good wine.

Johnny Araya

Barrel Oak is part of Fauquier Wine Trail in Delaplane, VA which includes plenty of boutique wineries near I-66 with beautiful country side views. Very popular winery with awesome views of the hills and the vineyards. Very welcoming grounds with plenty of space. Kid and dog friendly. 10/14/2016

Second time we have been here. We love this place for the atmosphere and hospitality. The vies outside are gorgeous and the inside is nice as well. Another thing that makes this place unique is they have their own beer as well. Another plus is they allow limos.

Rachel Bennett

Great wine, beer, food and ambiance. Very dog friendly.

I would give this winery a 5, but they allow children. Luckily, they are not allowed inside. I was horrified to see herds of children roaming out on the lawn, throwing rocks, when my friend and I pulled up. Dogs are allowed, too, but the ones we saw were better behaved than the kids. The interior is like an upscale barn and is nicely decorated. They also had a cute little loft. The food was great and the wine was pretty good, too. They also had epic views of the valley.

Robert Thomas

Good beer good people what's not to like. Pizza is very good on weekend

shalin jani

Nice place. Dog and kid friendly. Plenty of parking and great views.

Austin C

This place used to be pretty good and I gave it a 4 star review a long time ago. Came back a couple years later and it’s terrible. The wine is not good and the staff seems to not care that much. This place cares more about the atmosphere than the quality of service and wine. Dogs are everywhere and pet hair was not cleaned. If you walk in you can see pet hair floating around, it’s terrible. I noticed a big building that looked like a mansion near Barrel and turns out it was a winery called Blue Valley, I went there instead and it was way better. If you care more about the atmosphere or you need your pet with you go to this place. If you want quality wine and good service with a better view. I recommend the place next door

Felicia Smith

Overall, a nice winery with decent options for wine and food on the weekends. I love how dog friendly the facility is. My only complaint (and it isn't enough to take off a star) is the service could use a little improvement. It didn't seem like the individuals inside the tasting room were enthusiastic about helping. Other than that I did enjoy myself and will come back.

Timothy Adkins

Had a great time with friends. Definitely a nice weekend outing for folks near the city.

Sonali Shetty

We visited this place on our 6 month anniversary. Amazing vibes and very friendly staff! Wine tasting cost $15 and it is a great experience. Outdoor seating is greatly managed with a great view. We tried the wood pizza which was tasty! Will definitely recommend this place to visit on a nice sunny day! Waiting for their Sept stomp and chomp festival!

Christina L

My husband and I really enjoyed our day here. They are extremely dog friendly. The wine, view and music was so relaxing :) The staff was very friendly and welcoming too. We will be coming back!

M Sams

Well organized and plenty to offer for everyone. The white wines are my favorite. They also brew beers, if that is your preference. We arrived on a crowded Saturday wondering if we will get served. As a testament to their organization, we waited less than 5 minutes for a tasting and for a flight of beers. Combine all this with oysters, pizza, live music and pleasant rolling hills of Virginia and conveniently located just off I-66, Barrel Oak is a must try, in summer or winter!

nathan baxter

Good wines, really good beers on tap. Super dog friendly. Staff was awesome.

David Cranfield

Great experience, kid and dog friendly. Friendly and courteous staff. Will definitely be back. 5 Stars

Jacquelyn Olejniczak

I am an avid fan of Barrel Oak and have been for the last 5+ years after relocating to Virginia for work. I have brought countless friends to the winery and a good time was had by all. I recommend Barrel Oak to everyone I talk to who is interested in going to wineries off 66West. The wine is very good, atmosphere is amazing, and the service is usually top notch. The staff is very educational about what they are pouring into your glass, and being in the industry myself, that goes a long way. Tonight, however there was an exception in the service. I brought my date with me on a Friday evening for some good wine and a chill atmosphere. Before officially deciding to drive 1.15 hours to come to the winery, there is a section on their website that says “$4 off all wine on Fridays after 4:30pm”. My date and I had 3 glasses of wine each and split the last one. Our bill came out to $76 and I reacted surprised considering it was supposed to $4 off each glass and not full price. I was informed as I was handed my receipt that the $4 off was for Bottle Purchases Only after I asked about the discount. The bartender apologized and I walked back to my table to get my phone to show proof of my statement. I showed the bartender and his words were “oh...yeah that doesn’t really say there is a difference for glass or bottle”. He showed it to a manager (? - an older man who was standing on the same side of the counter as I was) and he came over and said “hi, the $4 off is for bottles only. I don’t know how we got away with that for so long but it’s always been $4 off each bottle”. I didn’t want to start a scene, being in the business I know how that goes. It would have been one thing if the “manager” tried to accommodate my concerns but that wasn’t the case. I received a cold answer, twice, and wasn’t left with any sort of remedy other than to pay full price. As a customer and also a professional in the business, I am highly unsatisfied with the way I was treated for something that I was not at fault for. Perhaps the website should be updated with correct information and their customers would not be swayed to believe they were getting a deal when really they were not. Needless to say, I’m very disappointed.

Jackie Richards

I went for an event and had a wonderful evening. The main building is very warm and inviting. Clean, friendly staff.

Sarah Curtin

Winery/vineyard and brewery combined! Fantastic indoor/outdoor atmosphere, families and dogs welcome. Separate upstairs area for adults of drinking age only. Beautiful countryside.

Zachary Andrus

Great space, but there's better wine nearby.

Rotem Akin

Great place! Very good wine, beer and food. Good vibe

Christopher Saunders

The whites were great but the reds all tasted heavily of salt.

A Google User

Great atmosphere, wine was average...not to my liking.

Nelson Cortes

We love coming here. It has an awesome outdoor space where you can enjoy an amazing view while sipping wine. Further the staff is super friendly. While the wines are just Ok, the overall environment and attention to detail makes it a perfect place to spend a few hours with some friends.

Jacob Van Bortel Buckley

Lovely location very pet and kid friendly. Great selection of food and drink almost to much I was overwhelmed when I first arrived!

Philip Shea

Beautiful place, well trained staff, a great selection of both wine and beer! Is this a great country or what!

Danielle Kuka

Came here with my parents and it was amazing! Claire helped us with our tasting and we joined the wine club. The view was spectacular and hanging out with all of the dogs was a blast!

Willem Koenders

We visited with family. We did the $11 dollar full wine tasting which includes 10 tastings. The wines were great (we ended up ordering a bottle to take home). The bar man was exceedingly nice: he gave us the wine glasses to take home for free. When we ordered the cheese and meat platter ($15 and it's a really big platter), he gave us 2 Cokes and 2 bottles of waters for free. The outside area is amazing - if you want, they will light a fire for your table, and there are games like corn hole to play. Totally amazing!

Sharon Lambert

Very nice place. Brewery and winery, beautiful scenery, a little live music and dogs welcome. A little pricey but good atmosphere and very good beer. Did not try the wine this time and will definitely return.

Nan Fortune

A great night for our GPR event. The venue is beautiful and the wine was great. Thank you BOW.

Judy Gavis

My family husband and grown daughters, and Angus my chihuahua brought a picnic basket, the gal behind the bar was so sweet and accommodating . Our 2nd visit. Love this winery. Friendly, courteous, and delicious wine.

Jonathan Logan

Great wine, dog friendly, good place to visit.

Cindy L

Very friendly, unpretentious staff, and a dog friendly and kid friendly place, not to mention their wine. A wonderful outing for the whole family. Worth the drive. Bring your own picnic, and enjoy the scenery. Oputhebarfarw

CJ Mysore

Great Wine, they do have good draft beer for beer lovers like me. Kids friendly and great fire oven Pizzas.

Debbie Smoot

Good wine and beer. The tasting room associate, Natalia was very knowledgeable and detail attentive.

MICHAEL MAZZARINO

Comfortable, hospitable, great customer care, and good group of people. Too cold to go outside but looks like it would be great when the weather warms up. Wine isn't inexpensive though.

Phillip Thomas

This review is about the general experience and the lighter wines taste testing option. Positives: Pet friendly place to have a picnic and drink their wine. Negatives: 1. Bougie as hell extension of Clarendon. If you are looking for D.C. service and a pretentious crowd, this is your place. 2. We waited at least 20 minutes before a server even asked us what we were there for. It took just as long to be served a glass of wine. 3. The wine is gross. Only the Bow House white was decent. The rest have a very cheap, watery, and at times rotten taste (think a bad Zinfandel). If Zinfandel is your thing, that's cool, just save yourself the time and money and buy one at Giant. 4. Good luck figuring out where to go, how it works if it is your first time. Understaffed and apparently over-worked. 5. Parking was a challenge, but not really their fault. This doesn't factor into my 2-star rating, but just FYI.

Cynthia Soliman

Great wines. Wonderful atmosphere Family and dog friendly. A must visit

Dave Eccleston

Very friendly helpful staff. I love that they are both a brewery and a winery (the wife loves wine, I love beer). Beautiful scenery, and live music when we visited.

LuvUrPetCare !

Great wine, beer, brick oven pizza and very dog friendly! They are very supportive of a local pet rescue organization and have the rescue facility on their beautiful and scenic property. Awesome owners and staff!

Julia A. Melzer

Barrel Oak Winery's chocolate lab wine is the best ever. Once a year one of my besties and I go there and just get lost for the day at this place. The atmosphere is great, the food is great, and the wine is beyond great. If you are looking for a day trip to escape the city then go to Barrel Oak Winery. You'll surly enjoy yourself. Plus they are dog friendly!!!

ALEXIS DOUGLAS

The woman on the phone was extremely rude and dismissive. She turned a really special day into a sour one. If you don’t like your job then find a new one.

Uppasna Chand

I planned a bridal shower outing at Barrel Oak Winery a few weeks ago. The lady who corresponded with me via email was very sweet and attentive to our needs. Unfortunately, the day we arrived we were a little late due to traffic and weather conditions. When we arrived (we were a group of about 10 girls), I asked the man at the door, George, if our reserved area was still available. With a severe attitude, he stated "No. You don't.". When I told him I had been corresponding with a lady via email and that I'd like to talk to her, he said, "Maybe you had a reservation at 3 pm, but not now". We were shocked! I understand that we were late and our table was given to someone else. I'm not upset about that. I'm just shocked that he spoke to us girls so rudely. In fact, we all were. Each one of us just decided to make the best out of the situation and enjoy our time at the winery. I have to say that all other staff members were very nice to us. Unfortunately, that one guy really put a bad taste in our mouth. No pun intended. :)

Amy Owsenek

The event room needs some sound absorption. Too loud. Otherwise a wonderful place.

Cynthia Foreso

Great place.....dog and kid friendly plus close to DC. My favorite place!

Eric Domes

Great place lots of outdoor seating, firepits, fresh pizza oven and awesome wines and craft beer. Awesome people and the best part, SUPER dog friendly.

Brianna Graves

Love this Winery!!!! We did a tasting with Natalie. I knew the place was swamped; however, Natalie made sure we were taken care of. She made our experience that much better! KUDOS to Natalie!

Anthony DiPalma

Love coming here proposed to me wife here and now we come with our children

Sarah Mossburg

Fun but crowded. Great atmosphere, okay wine. Enjoyed the taproom a lot though. Nice chance of pace from wine tastings. Very dog friendly, family friendly vibe here.

Melanie Kennedy

Giving 2 stars only for the gorgeous scenery, I can speak to the quality of the beer or wine since I couldn’t get a staff member’s attention to do a tasting or even get a glass. They had maybe 3 people on bar but they were all focused on the wine side, with no one on the beer side at all. I couldn’t even get acknowledgment from anyone to ask about trying some beers and they really were not horribly busy. I walked out after 10 minutes without even having been spoken to. I took my money elsewhere this time, I may give them another shot just because I do love how dog friendly they are and it was very pretty but I definitely did not get a warm or welcoming vibe at all.

Gregory DeRosa

Great time at Barrel Oak Winery with Zach! We loved all of the wines and best service ever. Enjoyed the Dog Fest Day for support to Canine Dogs for Independence!!! Can’t wait for our next visit! Awesome staff, customers and canines!!

Chris Walley

If you're in the area this is a must to visit. The building exudes rustic charm and the combination winery/brewery has something for everyone. Weekends are packed but also offer the chance for some wood fired pizza!

CJ Gilbert-silva

I love the warm and friendly atmosphere of BOW. Even on crazy busy weekends, there is a sense of nature due to the massive wood beams. December is particularly beautiful with all the sparkle and decorations. The wine is devine and the beer amazing! Check out Sunday mornings for Bubbles 'n Bagels.

Jim Bias

Good beer and wine. Pet friendly place with a great staff. Definitely worth a stop.

Craig Johnson

Had a very enjoyable wine tasting, they also have beer. I'm waiting for warmer weather so we can really enjoy the view and they are pet friendly,.

Angel Ricard

Horrible staff, very rude.

Elizabeth Nathaniel

If you like sweeter wines, the selection will be more up your alley. The reds are okay, but what really stands out here is the atmosphere and the space. They allow dogs inside, which is great when the weather is bad or it's cold. And when it's nice out, they have tons of picnic tables and outdoor fire pits. It's great for gatherings or just for a relaxing day in wine country!

David Flores

Cool place

Deborah Thomas

Nice winery, good food and music. Stop on the way to the beach for an afternoon.. Def would come back here

deborah brennan

Very nice. Family/kid/dog friendly.

Ienura Whitener

Very cozy and warm place to enjoy with the entire family! I highly recommend!!! We frequent here often!!!

Sheryl Dobbins

Great place. Friendly staff, dogs everywhere And food....

Ashley Rosenbaum

Amazing Staff, Great Atmosphere!

Spencer Cofield

Barrel Oak is nestled on a hill overlooking a large portion of Delaplane, VA. You can't go wrong with the views, but what ruins the experience as a whole are the crowds of people with their children and dogs. Get there early to grab a seat and listen to live music on the hillside. They do have cheese plates available to include a pizza oven to order a pie from. Their beers are purely mediocre and I'd give their wines a 7/10. It's never been a bad experience but I feel it's popularity has also hurt their reputation a bit for those that enjoy quieter environments.

Tracie Spurrell

Just leaving the winery, our 1st visit here absolutely will not be our last. Outstanding in all areas, service, environment, entertainment and topping it all off PET FRIENDLY.

Quinn Cartheuser

Beautiful place with a beautiful view. We did a wine tasting, and despite me knowing nothing about wine, I’d readily drink any of the ones I tried. The outdoor patio is great and I love the overhanging lights at night. This place also serves delicious beer!

Mike Brown

Love coming out here. In the summer, have great outdoor tables and encourage picnics and bringing kids and dogs alike. In colder weather, have great indoor events as well as camp fires at the picnic tables outside. Great place to bring friends or hold an event. Great VA wine too.

Mark W

Great wine. Great atmosphere. Extremely popular with locals.

Tim F

Fire pits, dog friendly and the cab-franc is the best.

Daniel Ard

Good winery but .....we had our dog leashed. The parking police geazer freaked when I walked to our car with a case of wine and I let go of the leash. We were screamed at. Other than that....our dog was leashed the entire time. Great place minus the anti dog nazi in the parking lot

Tiffany Jade

Pretty winery and lots of dogs. I liked that they had food. I didn't like the wine though. It wasn't flavorful and it was about $40 a bottle which was a little much for not that great of wine.

Karen Brown

The wine is terrific, people so friendly, and a great venue to just meet up with friends and enjoy the afternoon and views. I highly recommend it for your next get together. Always something fun going on out there. And don't forget to bring your dog. Karen Brown

Mike Ambroso

Winery and brewery in one. The red blend was excellent as was their beer flight. Surprisingly original IPA.

Michael Peck

Always a great place to enjoy a variety of wines and enjoy the scenery. Beautiful views, and plenty of space.

Yash Mathur

Fun experience to have fun with family. Great beers and wine

Mario Desimoni

Great place to enjoy craft beer and wines!!

Alex Deac

Good wines and beers and also pizza is excellent!

Sue Wyatt

Lovely afternoon. Gracious and helpful staff.

Chris Pugrud

Best winery in the area for families and dogs. Barrel Oak Winery is very dog and family friendly with lots of areas to relax and enjoy great wine and good food inside or out with many tables available, picnic areas, and many well stocked fire pits for those chilly evenings. On the weekends you can also enjoy a wood fired pizza cooked on premises. During the week you can have local pizza delivered if you want more than the wide variety of meats and cheeses available. The wines are consistently good and reasonably priced. There are also some exceptional wines available only by the bottle for indulging in the some magnificent Virginia wine.

Funkey Monkey

It was a nice place with nice views very helpful people.

travis huffman

Friendly staff, great wine and beer, and a terrific atmosphere. What else could you ask for!

Jonathan Torre

The wine was ok. The staff were friendly and they let you try the wines before you buy bottles. Ample seating and pretty good views.

Jason Fischer

Beer, wood fired pizza, and fire pits with a view! What a great place to spend the day. We will definitely be back the next time we are in NOVA.

Taryn Meeks

My favorite winery! Dogs, dogs, dogs. I love that they treat my four legged family like their own. Plus, the wine is fantastic and the grounds are beautiful!!

Mark Archer

Dog friendly, a great place for a family picnic.

Rita Siprak-Weill

Such a nice place. Wish we had brought food and munchies. Music started at 6, so beautiful.

Lowrie Ward

Best! Delicious wine and lots of fluffsters!

Veronica Licha

Beautiful winery with amazing views and friendly staff. Plenty of space under the shade of picnic umbrellas AND it's dog friendly!

Timothy Manning

Great place to spend playing with family or relaxing with friends. Tremendous views with ample seating on a late afternoon in late April. Bring a blanket and you'll have almost unlimited seating options. Plenty of beer and wine choices to satisfy all tastes. Limited food menu options sure to please most or bring your own food from home and you'll be sure to have a near perfect day of memories!

Elizabeth Smith

Beautiful winery! I came here once a few years ago as part of a wine tour. I enjoyed it so much then, that I chose to come back years later with my parents for Father's Day. We were able to get a wine tasting at a reasonable rate. It was busy so the wait for wine was a bit long. We also got a beer flight inside their bar that came directly from their own brewery. On site is hand crafted brick oven pizza that was very tasty. There were also so many seating options available. My family and I grabbed a great seat on the back patio with an umbrella. We all had a great day. You are able to bring your own food, but we didn't think to do so. There was also a ton of on site parking.

Linda Simoncic

Thank you Harvest Host for introducing us to Barrel Oak Winery. It was a welcome stop on our way to Pa. We enjoyed the tastings of both beer and wine and LOVED how dog friendly BOW is! Our mini goldendoodle, Izzy, loved the attention and the treats. The sunset over the vineyard was beautiful. Jeannine, we loved visiting with you and learning about BOW. Thank you for your hospitality! Hope that we can return to sample your wood fired pizzas with a glass of wine!

Chad Vieau

Been awhile, place is still charming, love the addition of a brewery!

Jessica Staley

Great place, wonderfully crafted, well layed out, great vibes. A good place for short or long stays, singles to groups .

Kerri Lane

Nice location, lots of space. If your a dog lover this is the place for you. If not....don't go. Lots of spilled dog water and drool on floor inside tasting rooms. Have to watch your step for leashes and dogs everywhere. The wine was okay, the first few whites were unimpressive, but the reds were much better. My favorite was the chocolate lab. Take a picnic and enjoy the grounds. Live music. Don't take your shoes off, we saw a wine glass dropped by a server and she left it in the grass. We went over and picked up the glass so no one was hurt, she finally returned to retrieve glass several minutes later. Overall decent spot. It does feel like they expanded in multiple directions to accodamate a growing business, but it left the feeling of disjointed space inside.

Diana Berg

I have always enjoyed BOW. I have come here numerous times through the years. I have always appreciated the relaxed atmosphere. I have also loved that they are open Christmas Day. Brian has always made us feel so welcome. There is one reason I took the time to do this review...the prices of the wine. Why would your prices be so high? Plus, if you buy the wine and stay to drink it, it is $10.00 more per bottle then if you take the wine home. Do you want us to leave? We have been to so many wineries, including California's Napa, Sonoma, and Russian River. Most places wines were much less expensive. Even the Virginia wineries are typically much lower in cost. Your wines are nice, but $29.00 for your least expensive white blend and red blend bottled in 2015 is too high. I can't spend that even when I have the money to spend. I can't justify the cost.

Heather Urban

Wine ranged from forgettable to outright terrible. Was not a fan of the atmosphere more bar then winery. Positives were the view and pizza. Wouldnt bother going back though.

B King

Why does your water smell like EGGS? Everytime I wash my hands, it smells awful. Other than that, wine is great!

Shaman Athletic Training

I had a very negative experience here, sad to say. Its a battle for a place to sit and the manager is very unhelpful. I had two patrons speak to me in an extremely rude manner when I politely let them know/asked: "I was waiting for the rest of my 15 person party and could I please save these tables?" When the manager became involved he escalated the situation instead of making it better. Would not recommend this place. Side note: did not even get to try the wine but from the smell of the tap water, straight up sulfur, its probably gross. Bad crowd, bad management, bad policy.

Richard Boies

Great atmosphere with welcoming staff. Enjoyed the beer selection along with the wine. Would recommend.

Samantha Leck

We enjoyed the wine tasting as well as a flight of beer. Everything was superb! A great spread of wines, perfect for my group (half of which prefer dry reds and half of which prefer sweet whites). Our tasting was informative as well. There was a food truck outside and plenty of seating, despite it being rather busy.

guillaume clin

I would definitely recommend this place. We arrive there at sunset and enjoyed some wine and beer. There is outdoor seating with a lot of fire pit to keep warm. We was allow to bring our dog on the outdoor seating. At this season the tree are changing colour.

Hillbilly Speed N Customs

Great place! Busier than we expected but everyone staff and guests blended together very well. Some staff members seemed a bit overwhelmed. All in all we would visit again and definitely recommend it to others. The wine tasting was ok if you’re into that. However the beers and selection was awesome! Take your dog and your friends enjoy the day!

Kevin Wyatt

Outside area is pretty. Great hospitable, informative and knowledgeable staff. They have good wines but if I remember correctly they were a little sweeter. The atmosphere is relaxing and the interior space is well crafted with nice woodwork. Barrel oak has cool views of the valley and Blue Valley winery. Thanks!!

Jessica Higman

This place it great whether it's a spring or summer day. I had a wine tasting with "Chad" who made the experience a great one. Their brick oven-baked pizza is delicious as well. This is a great hidden gem that you must see.

Carmine Borrelli

Better red wines then most Virginia wineries

Daniel Sweeney

Very nice winery with plenty of outdoor seating, tables, and a nice tasting bar. The views are beautiful and the wine is pretty good. Very easy to get to and nice to walk around. The indoor room/ restaurant area is well decorated and nice even in bad weather.

Anomic Anomic

Dog friendliest vineyard you ever will find.

Paula Shawber

Amazing views! Amazing atmosphere! I always meet people every visit! Wine is good. Pet friendly! The music is always great. I have made several visits to this winery. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable!

Christine Sanchez

Amazing! Try everything, there's nothing here that's not good

Zac Vander Goot

Good wine, good customer service, lots of dogs to look at.

Lauren Vaughn

What a great time! Beautiful place and loved bringing the dog!

Ryan Kent

Id describe it as more of a "party winery", great for a good time but your not really their for the wine or food, just that they let you stay up late and bring your dog in. Staff wouldn't even look at me and it took 15mins to get someone to greet us at the "bar?", many didn't seem good at serving wine, or serving food. Food wasnt great, wine was pretty good. I appreciate the place being open to dogs... But it seems like sometimes it goes a bit far with all the dogs barking and fighting indoors. To each their own.

Alex Ashton

Barrel Oak Winery is a wonderful place! Great location right off I-66, but far enough from the highway to highlight the rural setting without noise pollution. The scenery is amazing, surrounded by vineyard covered hills with mountains in the distance. There is ample space both inside and outside and plenty of friendly staff to handle the crowds, and the prices are reasonable. Bonus: if you get hungry, they have a pop up with amazing wood fired pizza! Goes great with their wine! Double bonus: the entire place is dog friendly!

J Brooks

Bring your dog! One of the best wineries around. Hands down the most dog friendly. Wine is pretty good, seating can be sparse on nice days. Pizza on site is good and nice to have there. Kid friendly.

Joleen S

We live in Iowa and were visiting friends/family in VA. We went to the Barrel Oak Winery. We started the day horseback riding, with Carol as our guide. What a great experience. (Thanks Carol!) Afterwards, we had a great time enjoying the wine, the beautiful view, listening to music and relaxing. Looking forward to going back to BOW someday!

This winery has a different ambience than most of the other local wineries. It is quite large, but also very busy. When I went, I had to wait more than 20 minutes for a tasting. The tastings were a fair price, although the samples seemed to be on the small side. The bottles of wine were also significantly more expensive than others in the area. The staff were polite, but not overly friendly, probably due to how busy it was. If you like going to a big, busy, expensive winery, this one is for you. If you don't, skip it in favor of one of the smaller and more hospitable wineries.

I love this place! So welcoming!

Terrific winery! Very dog friendly -- dogs are welcome both inside the building and outside at the picnic tables. The wine selections are very good, and on weekends they already have a pretty good range of food options. (This weekend, the menu includes oysters and pizza.)

Such an amazing atmosphere. Love stopping by here.

Tasty wine, tasty beer, a nice view, nice staff and some tasty food combine for a real nice winery visit. Plenty of outdoor sitting and a decent bit of indoor seating as well. Had a great visit here for an afternoon.

Marife Frances

A beautiful place, pet friendly, good food and the best scenario. Perfect to spend a pretty day with the family

Great winery, great atmosphere, a bit crowded but you can not hold that against them, lots of open space to go find personal space. Got a flight of thier craft beer. The craft beer was unremarkable. Throwing the word "craft" in front of beer doesn't necessarily make it "good beer" so this aspect fell short. The beers had that soapy "meh craft beer taste" and the non soapy tasting ones where just ok. Plenty of parking, a good meet up place on a weekend.

Great server, very knowledgeable. Enjoyed the tasting. Glad we could visit on a Friday when it wasn't so crowded.

This is one of my favorite wineries! There's wine, beer, and puppies! They have great food options but also allow outside food if you want to bring a picnic. Great views and bonfires as well.

Great wine! Very nice panorama views. Oh and a coconut, brown sugar, rimmed stout! Next level. It's a must have if the server can make it.

Had an excellent time here yesterday. Our dog (mini aussie) played happily with some of the other dogs, and the clientele were all very friendly and cheerful. We were more fans of the "BOW" side of the wine menu, with lighter and fruitier wines. We got their margherita pizza and I was shocked by how good it was. All four of us had a wonderful time and are planning to go back with more friends to try the Sangria bar. I suppose if you want solitude and quiet this winery may not be for you. But if you're willing to be a little patient when things are busy, and enjoy the company of canines, you'll probably really enjoy yourself here.

great to chill and relax... with great wine!

Wonderful. Mom and her daughter enjoyed wine tasting on Mother’s Day and I enjoyed craft beer. Seeing all the pups enjoy the day, totally comfortable in the environment was perfect. Speaking of the environment, what a super layout, what views, what fun. Looking forward to our next visit.

Extremely fun winery with some of the most unique and complex wines in Virginia. The syrah was wonderful! When you visit get some pizza from Wood fired foods located literally right out side. Trust me, you want that. Susan was amazing and I can't thank her enough for hosting our tasting.

Had a great time today with the doggo! Delicious wines, fantastically dog-friendly, cheerful and kind service, and a plethora of tables with broad beach umbrellas for comfortable relaxing with whatever snacks you brought.
