Very pleasant experience to visit with lovely grounds and views. The wines are good. I think there is a general vibe of pretentiousness here (staff and visitors) that exceeds the quality of the wines, but they have the gold cup. Their port did not resemble and port or sherry or fortified wine I have had and needs to be re-thought. Their wines are solid but none stood out to me. At their price point they may not compare well at a general tasting a total wine against French counterparts. But if you go here, you should be thinking about the experience of having one of their wines, perhaps some food, while enjoying the scenery and the company of others.

After visiting Afton Vineyards, the wife and I made our way to Veritas. Very large and beautiful venue area. The tasting was in a large lodge style setting with friendly and knowledgeable employees. The room had a wonderful aroma of smoke from the fireplace. Great place to get off the freeway and unwind.

Overrated and disappointing. The wines are mediocre at best yet the staff acts as if they’re the only game in town. When I asked the guy doing our tasting how one particular wine of theirs compared with another local winery (and one of the oldest and most respected in the state), he replied: “I’m not familiar with their wine”. The views are beautiful but save your time and visit Pollak or King Family where the staff is much more accommodating, knowledgeable and not full of themselves.

Very relaxing and exceptional quality of wines and food service. The ambiance is exceptional and relaxing. Starry Nights is exceptional and relaxed. The bands compliment the wine and the stars. The smell of the grape vines in bloom are an exceptional treat. I have never been disappointed in any way. It is a nice close by retreat where one can come enjoy the views of the mountains and have a wedding or just come together and have a nice bottle of wine. This vineyard offers from casual to exquisite events.

Definitely one of the most beautiful vineyards in VA The wines are really good and staff is very friendly and courteous. The views are breathtaking. Wine tasting was good and is average in price. Did not get a chance to taste the food but looked really good. Plenty of space for kids and dogs. you can bring your own food and there are plenty of grass and tables to set up camp. It is located in one of the most beautiful areas in VA. Now, if you drive to Pauli's Pig out BBQ 5 minutes away from Veritas you will not regret it either.

If I could give 6 stars, I would. Truly fantastic place, beautifully set in the surroundings. I had no expectations for the wines which turned out to be quite nice. The owners and staff made us feel right at home, and our room was truly beautiful and in top shape, and the dinner in the evening out on the patio was fantastic. I will definitely try to come back, and would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet, romantic retreat.

Very much appreciate the high quality food that they offer too--the cheese, olive, and charcuterie plates are top of the line and such a wonderful complement to the wines. This continues to be one of my favorite vineyards in the Cville area. The grounds are beautiful and the wine is excellent. We moved to NC years ago and are members of the wine club just so we can enjoy Veritas wine throughout the year. It can get very crowded on the weekends, so if you are going to go, be sure to get there early. We try to make Veritas our first stop of the day right as they open so that we do not have to wait in line and weave through the multiple bachelorette parties and buses that visit the winery.

YES! I hope everyone has the same wonderful experience I had with Veritas. From their staff to the venue, everything was so much better that I could have hoped for. Their event staff will work closely with you to make your wedding dreams come true. And the simplistic elegance of the whole property matched my style perfectly. I'm still hearing about how beautiful our venue was, and all credit goes to Veritas. The catering is out of this world good - like really good! Definitely not your average, just so-so wedding food. No, it was AMAZING! Our accommodates for the day were picture perfect, and I could not be happier. Taylor (event manager) is fantastic - she really delivered on all accounts! We loved our wedding day for many reasons, but Veritas is certainly one of the top reasons! I would recommend everyone get married there!

FOREIGNERS NOT WELCOMED HERE I had visitors from abroad and wanted them to taste Virginia wine. Veritas policy does not accept identification that is not US issued. In other words, foreigners not welcomed here. We went about our day and visited other vineyards without any complications. Funny to put it in perspective: my friends' passports could get them around the world but it could not get them to taste wine at this vineyard. Veritas should think about the message they are sending with this policy.

Ridiculously busy on Saturdays. I would suggest going on Friday or Monday, Sunday if you have to. Even if you HAVE to go on a Saturday, a wine tasting at Veritas is WELL worth the wait. Eat before you go, because they don't allow outside food and what they do offer is very expensive - save your money for the wine. We left before we got to taste on a Saturday because of the crowd, and almost didn't come back Monday - I can't believe what a fantastic and delicious experience we would have missed out on! Not 110% pet-friendly inside (probably because of the gorgeous hardwood floor, expensive furniture, and large crowds), but they let my support dog in with me without any issues, so props on very respectful staff. Veritas has so many wines that the only general statements I can make are that all of their selections are well-crafted and they have something for everyone. Our sommelier was extremely knowledgeable about the property, the grapes, the process, and the wines - not only of Veritas, but of Virginia's wine country in its entirety. If I had written down everything she said, I would probably be well on my way to a degree in viticulture. Don't leave without asking about what's written on your glass.

Awesome looking tasting room with really comfortable seating both inside and outside. It was a hot day, but there's a great crossbreeze that makes you forget about the heat. It has a lot of different outdoor seating areas with some nice views. Of course the wine tasted great too!

This place was perfect for us to celebrate our 1 year anniversary this past weekend. We were greeted by a friendly staff person immediately upon stepping into the building. We tasted a few wines and then purchased a bottle of our favorite. They had a beautiful ambiance and plenty of cozy seating. They even gave us free wine glasses. Eh..... the location is convenient and up to date tasting room, but no spectacular views. Tasting was ok. Some of their wines are weird (esp blended ones). There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what they grow or sell or blend. The classic Viognier was decent though.

Recently at Veritas for a wedding. Like previous reviewers, I had a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. They were available for any issues whether it be directions, assistance with trash removal, drinks, carrying items to the car. They went above & beyond and always with a smile. The facility is great. The location at the bottom of a mountain surrounded by vineyards. The facility is in great condition and the outside is well-maintained. Great experience. Highly recommend this for any occasion.

My husband and I decided to try the wineries in Afton and a highly rated one was Veritas. The winery was gorgeous inside and out! What I loved about this winery was there was a little cafe type window outside and you could order sandwiches and such and then sit on their expansive patio to enjoy the mountains. The tasting was $10, and it had about 5 wines to try on there. The wines were great but they didn't stand out considerably. The lady who served my husband and I was super nice and started off our tasting with some facts about our home state we never knew. This winery was gorgeous spot nestled in the mountains that's worth the stop.

I'm sure that weddings and other events at Veritas are beautiful since the venue looks so pretty just during normal holidays, but if you're just going for wine tasting... I wouldn't. The tasting room wasn't too crowded on a Sunday afternoon, but it still took 10-15 minutes for service. The wines weren't spectacular--I'm glad the pours weren't overly generous. The smaller vineyards around the area have much better flavor. The patio is a nice spot for a picnic, but the views are average for the beauty of the area.

It's a gorgeous venue, just plain beautiful. But I came for the wine, the wine was decent, pricier than neighboring wineries, but the experience I had there wasn't worth the higher price. Unlike other tasting rooms, the fee wasn't waived with purchases, or come with a glass.

This is the sort of place that will bring you back to Charlottesville time and time again. First off, the wines are very very good. A couple miss the mark which is true for any vineyard. I respect their attempt at making a Virginia Sauvignon Blanc - a rarity in this region. It works just as well as any CA Sauvignon Blanc I have tasted. But by far, the Othello is the king in this family. Ignore the price and buy a bottle. Sip it by the fireplace and I guarantee you will regret not buying a second bottle. The staff was very friendly, the winery itself was a surprise - incredible mix of modern/tavern interior with a gorgeous mirror over the long bar. The downside is the pricing policy for tastings. But since they offer so many wines, skip buying a glass and do both tastings - worth it.

Their food, ambiance, environment, and wine were all superb. To be fair, mother earth gave us a 72 degree day with a stellar sunset. Best wedding I've ever been to, no question. If i can give 10 stars i will do it. We are from Mendoza so we do know wine... some of them are to off the grape but does not mean that aren't any good. The port is outstanding also the Monticello... super laid back place we also walk around the property enjoying the views and the country ambiance. The owner( well may be his employees witch is under his eyes)keeps this place in inmaculated condition. Ifbyou are close to here you HAVE TO STOP here!!!. Cheers!

Overcrowded and pretentious. The setting is beautiful with a backdrop of the mountains and nice area to relax outside, however we had to wait a while to do a tasting and the vibe of the winery was not very friendly. I went to the sister property, flying fox winery, and even though the location wasn't as beautiful, the staff was more relaxed and youthful and the wine was creative ... I bought a bottle there.

Was excited to try this winery but incredibly disappointed in our experience. Upon entering on a Monday afternoon, the staff stopped us and told us we would have to wait for a tasting (despite there only being 6 people tasting at one time). After waiting 20 minutes, an opening came up, and we walked up only to be told someone was ahead of us (although no one had informed us of this). We were so turned off by the wait and the rudeness of the staff, we left.

Wonderful local vineyard 10 minutes off of I-64 in Afton. Wine tasting of both red and white. Tasting is free if you buy wine. the wines were pretty good and we bought a case to take home and share with friends. This is a family owned and run operation and you can tell it by the casual and fun atmosphere. They certainly know their product and were extremely helpful. Overall a really nice experience. Great stop and a wonderful vineyard.

Great Location, Mediocre Wine Tasting. Wonderful location, great for picnics and views. The wine tasting was a huge disappointment though. Having "run out" of red wines, only one table red wine was on the tasting list, and out of the 6 or so whites, just one Chardonnay hit the spot. At one point, our server was was pouring plain water from a white wine bottle, proclaiming it to be some wonderfully produced Viognier...it wasn't! Having asked about the red wine situation, the real forté of Veritas we understood, they said that might be tasting a new red in the coming weeks. We understand small batch production, but felt the trip to Veritas really not worth it for half the repertoire at expensive tasting prices. Might be worth waiting until later in the year.
