This Winery corresponds to the category of Vineyard.
Nice tasting. Pet friendly place. Nice shady tables for a great picnic.
Very good wines, very good tasting experience with exceptional spaces such as decks, lawns, chairs to enjoy their wines with some cheese.
It is conveniently located close to 64 and nicely landscaped. The tasting room is a little small but the folks know their wine. Very friendly service and killer wines. The meritage collection is amazing but the bottle of a meritage hours around fifty bucks. I would definitely come back for more
Very pretty surroundings, prompt, knowledgeable service. Only dry wines, no sweet options
Quality grapes
Great place.
My daughter and I went here after visiting Monticello. I was the designated driver she tasted every wine they had at a cost of ten dollars and kept the glass. I bought several bottles of what she said were good wines. There are several wine tasting vineyards local including the Trump winery.
Beautiful setting, great value, very knowledgeable, Riedel glass to take home. Would go back for sure.
Michael Was amazing, this was one of the best wine tastings I have been on. Very informative and made feel at home.. first class all the way....highly recommended.
Very relaxing. Look for the sign that says the tastings are $12 each. Maybe I missed it but I left me in shock especially after buying a bottle of wine.
Wonderful wines to taste in a peaceful atmosphere
Amazing little find. Can't say I've been overly impressed with most the Virginia wineries I've tried, however this place was fantastic. Highly recommended and if you are going to Monticello this is less than five minutes away and a definite stop.
The last time we visited this vineyard it was packed, and took us quite a while to get a tasting. On this weekday visit it was much less crowded. They have two decks under the trees, and more chairs near flower gardens to hangout with a glass or bottle after your tasting. Dani really liked the Chardonnay and I had a glass of Cab Franc with Amish Smoked Cheddar Cheese and Crackers.
Sadly, the customer experience does not come first here. Certain staff members were just flat out rude. Will not be returning.
Very nice staff. Still gave us a tasting even though it was close to closing time. Wine was a little pricey though.
Jefferson Vineyards wines range in quality. I love their petite verdot, and their Meritage and rose are likely to be a crowd-pleaser. The space is lovely, and the staff is friendly and engaging.
Excellent wine tasting for a great price. Not only that, it's a phenomenal place to relax and hang out with a glass sitting outside here!
You pay for wine tasting which was fine with me but didn't find a wine that had that wow factor
Usually I have never wrote a review, good or bad, about a place before but this will my first. The first time my boyfriend and I went to Jefferson we were blown away by how great the wine and service was there. The second time we went we had the same lady, and talked more about Jefferson wine and other area wine. She is very educated in local wines. The third time we waited for about twenty minutes just to have her again. Now she know our names and we know hers, Deb. She is a great asset to Jefferson and can match their wines with your taste perfectly. We have taken our families there and we have yet to hear of a complaint. Great job Jefferson, and thank you Deb!
We had a wonderful time and learned a lot more about Jefferson wines. Very enjoyable and improvements to property are awesome! thanks
$10 tastings and take home the glass. Solid wine selection, great outdoor areas to enjoy the weather and scenery.
Excellent Winery! It was the first stop on our wine tour of Virginia, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The wines were tasty, and the service was fantastic! The woman who helped us took the time to learn what our taste were, to talk us through the wines, even giving us a walk-through smell by smell and sip by sip of one of her favorite wines, and gave us excellent recommendations for the surrounding area. I highly recommend if you are in the area, stunning scenery, delicious wines, and a great way to start your trip!
Staff wasn't pleasant, not alot happening. Beautiful outside seating.
Fails under pressure!! Apparently the March wind storm pushed the staff over the edge. Power was out, instead of making the best of a bad situation, they barked at guests entering the door about how they could only sell bottles and "their power had been out for 25hrs" you could see how frustrated they were. Beautiful candles in tasting room could have made the best out of a bad situation by being more welcoming and laugh it off, welcome people in and make a party out of this situation a beautiful sunny day in Charlottesville...but NOPE. I was holding my little dog and some guy "barked" at me about how "THAT DOG can't come in here with out blah blah certification..." who talks to someone like that? There wasn't a single person in there. I had NO intensions of bringing him in and I barely crossed the threshold of their door, we were merely inquiring about their power (they had a sign outside) but the manor of tone was so rude!! A limo left right before us I wonder if they were treated the same way. I mean make the most of it. Being in the hospitality business myself as management it was all I could do but give them a piece of my mind...but we merely smiled and headed down the road. Again, sadly it's one of our favorite wines, would have liked to grab a bottle but not after that unwelcome greeting. It was actually very embarrassing to be spoken to in that manner. So We went to the Trump winery, they had a generator and some lovely smiling faces and great customer service in spite of the weather. Had some lovely wine and truffles. We were all uncomfortable many of us lost power and food etc. but it could have been nice if we could have received some much needed relief from a miserable powerless Saturday. To quote Forest Gump "that's all I got to say about that". #oneunhappycustomer #Mommabeargoingtotakeawhiletocooloff
I'm a huge fan of Jefferson Vineyards. I love the place because of the location, scenery, and overall atmosphere. I have spent most of my time out on their lawn with friends. Having a picnic there is a great Cville activity to do with friends - tons of space, dog friendly, etc. My wife is always pleased with the wine selections during our visits as well.
Had a great time with them! Service was awesome! They were quick to explain the wines and were so knowledgeable. Cant wait to go back!
Excellent winery. Enjoyed being able to walk right up for the tasting. Being able to enjoy a glass of wine and cheese on patio was an excellent touch.
great wine tasting, staff is super knowledgable and the wines were awesome; went home with a case :)
Love Jefferson Vineyard! Best Rose’ in the county. The staff is very pleasant and personable. Gorgeous venue & so close to town
My husband and I returned to Jefferson Vineyards in July 2019 after taking a few years off of the VA winery scene due to our move to NC and having children . Jefferson Vineyards used to be one of my favorite vineyards in the Cville area. I was so excited to go back. The view is still amazing, but the wine was not as good as I remember it being. It used to be a quieter place, not so crowded, and more peaceful. One of the best Cab Francs I have ever had was from there. To be fair, we did go on a weekend. It was very crowded, the space could not handle the number of people. The wine was ok. We bought two bottles. However, we joined wine clubs and bought whole cases at other places we visited.
Good location, mediocre wines
Got 2 bottles of white and sat on the deck in the sun- beautiful weather and beautiful scenery! Great wine too
Classy, did the $15 sampling
A+
First off the atmosphere was very welcoming and hospitable from e cashier through the entire experience. The gentleman who led us on our wine tasting trip was very knowledgeable and well versed in what we would experience during our tasting. We ended up buying a glass and bottle to have on the deck (cheese and crackers too). At the end of the experience we enjoyed 7 out of the 10 wines we tasted. And purchased 3 for our ride home. We will be joining their wine club.
Excellent wines
Great service
Some of Virginia's finest.
We visited late in the afternoon on a Saturday; although the tasting room was packed, we were lucky enough to have a very personable and engaging sommelier (correct word?). She was not only knowledgeable, passionate and enthusiastic about the wines, but she also shared her own travel /relocating history. So we weren't dealing with just another proud Virginian (like me :))...she really knew her stuff! In spite of the crowds, once we were able to get to the bar for our tasting, we weren't rushed and we had a great time. Prior to Jefferson, we'd been to three other vineyards, two of which were real tourist traps - complete with bus loads of people. Got the brochure-talk and all on autopilot. We weren't the only ones enjoying Jefferson Vineyards - we were delighted to see a ton of butterflies covering the gardens, so we stopped for quite a while to snap some wonderful photos. We will definitely be back to Jefferson! With this being our last winery stop, it was the crown jewel on a fantastic day.
The setting is beautiful but the tasting was disappointing. I've been to other tastings that give a lot of information about the grapes, history of the place and pairings which this did not provide. Scant pours and the gentleman rushed the tasting. $12.00 for 10 minutes time was not a good value. We visited on a Thursday,it was not busy in fact there was one person standing behind the counter looking at the floor.
I actually don't drink wine, but my mom loves it here and it's a beautiful place to go and visit. The grounds are nice and so is the view. My mom really liked the wine glasses and goes back to get them whenever she visits. The only problem is there isn't much parking, and when I tried to bring my grandparents here we decided to leave because there was nowhere to park.
Great local wines.
Great wines, service and outdoor seating for relaxing with friends and a glass of wine!
Good-to-great wines with friendly sommeliers at the tastings make up for one of the less spectacular views amongst Charlottesville's many wineries—although it's still quite pretty, especially if you like cattle.
Nice private tasting room
Another favorite of Monticello Appellation Wine Tour guests - Jefferson Vineyards! Congratulations for winning three gold medals and more in the state-wide Governor's Cup wine competition. Jefferson Vineyards is the first in history to win two golds in the Governor's Case of the same varietal of Viognier! Our tour guests love tasting at Jefferson Vineyards and enjoying a glass outside in their magnificent gardens.
Jefferson Vineyards is a great place to visit. The wine tasting experience is fantastic and the people working there know a lot about the wines. There is also an outside patio and great lawn area where you can relax when it is warm. I usually buy at least one bottle when I visit. They also sell this amazing olive oil.
Very good wine and a beautiful property. Wish there were a bit more chairs outside, at the shadow. We didn't do the full testing but rather bought a few wines by the glass - staff was very attentive!
This winery is very beautiful. Staff is very pleasant. I absolutely loved the Viognier. It is one of my favorites I have tasted thus far. I would most definitely come back here.
Refused service because of asumptiom of number of party that was “cut off” from previous winery... which was a wrong assumption...
Great wine and the employees were friendly and knowledgable!
Great wine. Great value during the tasting!
I would like to point out a very dissatisfying aspect of my experience here. We arrived at the vineyard tasting room at 5:30 and waited at the bar for at least five minutes before we were, rudely, told to pay for tasting first (which had not been the case at our other tour stops) and to get in line to pay. We did, behind about three customers, the last of who bought three cases of wine. Congrats to the winery, but after waiting for ten minutes in line we stepped to the counter and asked for two wine tastings. I was told that they stopped doing wine tastings at 5:45…it was 5:46. I explained that we had been waiting, patiently, for fifteen to pay and I was met with a blank stare and told we could do a free taste of three wines. However, I was mostly upset that there was no acknowledgement that we had been there for fifteen minutes, a good half hour before closing, and were met with a metaphorical door slam. Every other winery was so warm and inviting, I was very taken aback by Jefferson Winery’s actions. I recommend First Colony, WineWorks, and Blenheim if you are in that area of the wine tours.
With beautiful views and plenty of sitting. Jefferson vineyards is a perfect destination to have a glass of wine and strike up conversation. Highly recommend the Sauvignon franc.
Great wine! Friendly staff who will answer all of your questions about wine. And for $10 you can taste and keep the wine glass.
Loved it and the staff - had no idea the depth of history regarding wine in Virginia and that it started here.
Noticed i was receiving less wine than others. Beautiful place. Tad crowded. Needs more seating especially at the bar
Wines were just ok, prices are very razonable, and the outdoor seating is nice. We went in a very busy day, so it wasn’t really enjoyable since the staff was rushing.
I'm local and a Jefferson wine club member. We travel the different wine trails across Virginia, and consistently return to Jefferson for some of the best wines in the state. The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. Put this one on your bucket list.
European style wine. Great service! Some bottles are pricy. But everything was delicious!
Just okay. Not impressed by the staff or the wine but the location is pretty
Beautiful sights and great white wines, go for the 2011 Pinot Gris!
Not the best winery we have been to but the majority of the wines we tasted were decent. Friendly woman told us the history of the labels and explained the wine throughly.
Great wine! Don't leave without a few bottles!
Delicious wine and knowledgeable staff. Always enjoy visiting JV.
We enjoyed wine in a very beautiful scenery.
Good wine. Nice scenery. Very friendly sommelier.
Wine was great but when we asked our pourer about area wineries he decided to voice his political opinion instead of it being about the wine. Leave your politics at the door.
Historical place. Superb service & management. We bought half a dozen of their wine after the tasting. Viognier ✅✅ and Sam the Cat.
Wonderful wines and a wine tasting room experience worth stopping in for.
the wine is good.... the tasting cost is outrageous. 12/taste. most vineyards are $6....
Rude staff!!!
Watered down wine
Beautiful scenery!
Loved our server and loved the wine. He was sooo knowledgeable and open to letting us try other wines. But mostly I loved the price for what you got! It was 8 wines AND you got to keep the souvenir glass for $12!!!!
$12 wine tasting is okay--you get a wine glass. Very small pours for the tasting. Reserve chardonnay was $40 and tastes MUCH worse than $9 wine chardonnay. It is beautiful location.
Took the dogs, shared some wine in chairs on their lawn. Great wine tasting, knowledgeable staff. All and all very pleasant experience
beautiful place & wine that has been thought through well. we checked out several online and thought we’d try it out. so glad we did. loved the Chardonnay Reserve & hubby got the Petit Verdot
Great visit one of my favorites
Stopped there after my visit to Monticello and had a wine tasting and purchased a couple of bottles. There is outdoor seating to enjoy the outdoors while you're enjoying your wine.
Disappointed in the rude staff at the register who tried to turn away our group of 7 even though 2 weren't tasting.
Love their wines and pretty view! Dog friendly
Our favorite vineyard in the Charlottesville area. All of their wines were good.
Great venue. Beautiful scenery. Wine was just okay.
This is one of the best wineries I've been to. $10 for 10 tastings and the tastings are all great. The pours aren't too generous and the place isn't exactly attractive but the wine is phenomenal
Pleased with the wine selection and beautiful grounds
Beautiful setting, first off. And not to de-grade VA wines, but we were blown away at the tasting for what they had to offer (compared to other VA wines we've sampled and had). Staff was super friendly and hospitable the minute we walked in the door. Very knowledgeable on, not only their wines and methods of aging, but knew how they compared to other CA, Euro and South American wines. Had an excellent time and would highly recommend.
Love the view. Nice people and good wine.
Probably my favorite vineyard in the area. The wine tasting is $5 and is always great and very worthwhile, and my wife and I really enjoy the wines from Jefferson. There are other vineyards with better outdoor seating options and maybe a better view, but I come for the wine tasting and wines by the bottle, and Jefferson Vineyards is always great.
Great atmosphere and has separate areas for enjoying wine.
Delicious!!!!
Generous wine tasting and gorgeous views. All 9 wines are spectacular
We had a very pleasant experience wine tasting here. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the wines were good. We had a little picnic on the patio afterwards with glasses of their pinot grigio and vin rouge, both perfect on a summer day.
Excellent vineyard experience - perhaps the best in Cville. The staff are friendly. Scenery is lush and inviting with nice views of sweeping landscape. Plus there is nice green-grass to have a picnic or have the kids run around.
Beautiful place. $12 tasting.
Good atmosphere, knowledgeable, friendly staff and a generally good product.
Delish wine!
