"There's a minor in the room!" That's the alarm requiring Jay to pull a curtain across the tasting area, so the minor could not see people tasting. It is OK for them to be in the liquor sales area. Yea, Utah. It was cool because I got to take pictures of the curtain. It certainly shares the view of many that don't feel emboldened to say it out loud. The tasting of 5 items is $5. He'd like to be free, but State law requires the charge. It's worth every penny. Nobody is doing a better job with so many interesting products. While the Stinger Hard Cider is the bread and butter, Jay fulfills his technical desires making all sorts of fruit products ranging from dry Brandy and Eau de vie to fortified wine and fruit liqueurs. (Lickers with pictures of his dogs, and perhaps friends) There is always something interesting. Jay is a friendly great guy. If you get a tour from him, it's a treat.

Very friendly and helpful staff whether you know what you're doing or not. I love that they have $1 tastings so you can be sure you love it before you buy. They have very unique and lovely wines, meads and ciders as well as brandy, liquors and mixers. Helpful recipes too!

The owners were so so sooo nice!! I drove 40 minutes up to Layton to find out they didn't have what I came for. They let me know where I could go find it and the best part was it wasn't even their product. Extremely nice people!

A great local winery that specializes in fruity wines, meads, and hard apple ciders. I visited with my wife and four year old child. The staff was very friendly and polite. They set up a small table and gave my daughter some crayons and coloring pages.We tried a few free samples of their products and ended up purchasing a bottle of Apple Crumb wine and a bottle of Hard Cider. In addition to wine, mead, and hard cider, their tasting room also had several local honeys, salsas, and souvenirs for sale. All in all, a great experience. I definitely look forward to going back.

Incredible from day ONE! Even before. Quick note about Drew's review. Completely fair point...but one thing you may not know? The vintners were first geological engineers. Wow, right? The space they are in now was the space that they ran their previous business from, but refocused to pursue their hobby/passion for winemaking at the turn of the economic downfall in 2008...in the building they already had a lease on. Kind of a cool story, yeah? That industrial complex just got a little bit more cool

I have been wanting to travel up I-15 to Layton for a mead run. Due to conflicting work schedules between myself and wife, it has come to be an adventure in progress. At the State liquor store in Sandy, I was hoping The Hive mead was being sold. Much to my delight/ surprise I found it. I tried the Summer (semi-sweet) and was shocked that I made a mistake on buying just 1. I have tried numerous Meads not only from the US but also from Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany, and honestly say This is one of the best that I have tasted. Smooth, very flavorful and very aromatic. Knowledge and experience goes a long way into production. This is a combination of all. In baseball it is called a brand-new slam. Well worth the my search. The only problem I have with this is Why the Hell did I wait Sooo long? I have been stung.( My wife, who likes sweet French Roses, is now hooked also

Friendly staff. Stop in and do a taste test! Some say the atmosphere isn't great, but they do what they can within Utah's crazy laws. Love the Spring and the Pear mead. The stinger is pretty great too! I'd rather come into the store when I can to get their stuff rather than the liquor store.
