We've got all the feddbacks of people who used the products of William Chris Vineyards (Winery) in Texas.
To this day this business gets a rating of 4.5 stars over 5 and that score has been based on 164 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is virtually the top, and it's founded on a very high number of opinions, so we may conclude that the rating is quite accurate. If people have bothered to leave their feddback when they are satisfied with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to give evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Winery corresponds to the category of Winery.
Superb!! Go online and register for a wine tasting. Nice 45 or and hour tour for 5 or so select wines from vineyard for our party of 6. Ask for Mary, she's very knowledgeable and friendly. Showed us a great time. We stayed after grabbed some bottles of red/white and enjoyed a beautiful spring sunset!
Beautiful grounds and our hostess was very nice, but I was disappointed by the wines and the pours in the tastings were tiny.
I was disappointed by the tasting experience. Staff was not incredibly knowledgeable and the wine was unimpressive. The grounds were Beatiful, and the Tannato was surprising and flavorful.
The tasting was quite informative and they had some really high-quality mixes. Our server was also kind enough to give us a descriptive tour of the property.Since this was a valentine weekend it was comparatively busy although off season. They as well had some live music on the patio that you could enjoy with your glass of wine.
World class wine, in the beautiful hill country. All grapes are Texas sourced as well.
The experience at this winery was unbelievably bad. We went with a group of girls, had called ahead, and were greeted with annoyance and rudeness upon arrival. The wine was ok while we were tasting there, we purchased multiple bottles to bring home, and all of the 6 bottles we purchased seemed to be turned. They seem to pride themselves on “Texas” wine, however, I’ve had plenty of TX wine that tastes better!
Our favorite 100% Texas-based winery. Their wine is phenomenal and can't say enough positive things about the William Chris family!
We love those Texas wines!
Exceptionally great wines, port and Mediera. We love them all!
This spot made for a great family gathering coming from Lake Travis. It was a good experience. They have a variation of wines something for everybody,Whites, reds, sweet, dry and even a port. The grounds are beautiful, good spots for family photos.
Visited a few wineries for a "Girls Weekend" and William Chris was the crowd favorite! We had a wonderful time, the staff was extremely knowledgable and the wine was delicious. I took home a bottle of their Texas Rosé and a wine glass (they have one so large you can fit an entire bottle of wine in it!) Beautiful outdoors as well, with plenty of photo-ops.
Architecture is out of this world ... literally!
One of the best in the hill country.
Best place to get a wine membership.
Great place good wine and friendly people.
Always such an enjoyable experience! ❤
This is one of my favorite hill country wineries. The staff is great and the wines are fantastic. Be sure to try their cheese plate!
William Chris is a absolute must see when down in the Hill Country. Not only is their Vineyard beautiful the wine is the best around as well. I proposed to my soon to be wife there and the staff went above and beyond to make it a very special day. We are so grateful of this Vineyard and it will always be our first stop when down in that area. Thank you again for all your help.
This was my first time at a vineyard and I have to say my experience was wonderful! Michelle was so knowledgeable and attentive. The staff all together were so welcoming.
We have stopped at this winery every time we were in the area. We liked everything we tried. Once you join there wine club, there is an old house with four tasting areas set up for members. Very quaint setting with friendly staff. Visit during the week if you can.
One of my favorite vineyards at Fredericksburg. The quality of wine is on par with some California wineries.
Fabulous
Tiny pours
Wonderful!
Best Texas wine, awesome friends and the weather... thanks William Chris for a great day!!
What a lovely place to visit and taste wine. The staff are super friendly nice and helpful. The wines (had a rose and the mary Ruth) were great. Tons of outdoor seating under shade. Some indoor seating too. You can only do a tasting indoors. And bottles outside. Dogs on leashes can only be outside. Beautiful location. They have memberships too. Great Texas wine.
We popped in for a tasting on a Tuesday so it was surprisingly quiet. (Get a reservation for busy times) The staff was super friendly, the wine delicious and we even got extra pours not on the tasting list. The farmhouse has been incredibly restored/refurbished. Definitely will come back!
William Chris is the BEST winery in Texas. The people who work there are kind and professional and the property is lovely. If you're going on the weekend, try to make a reservation as the winery is quite popular.
Great selection of wines and a knowledgeable tasting consultant. We purchased three of the wines we tasted.
Hill Country Heaven.. Nothing artificial here!
One of the best on the 290 Wine Trail...
Awesome owners, care about their employees and support the local community.
This winery is now my favorite. Very friendly staff.
Great wine, wonderful atmosphere. Little bit of a tricky driveway from the highway, but all around a great experience
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here! The setting was breathtaking and we enjoyed hearing the history of the different types of wines. Luke and Mary were great! Their home made hummus was to die for!
Wine!
Great setting and great wine!
We visited on a Saturday and we didn't have reservations which were needed (call ahead of you plan to visit). We did buy some wine and sit on the patio. Both the wine and view were excellent. The atmosphere is laid back, they had live music and it was a very pleasant experience. We did peek into the tasting room which looked excellent.
I was a bit put out by the greeter (grouch) but it was the tasting servers that made up for the experience! The outdoor atmosphere was highlighted by a local guitarist. The wine was good.
Simply put... "6"stars !
Felt racism in this day and age. We are Indians and felt like were not treated right by the bar tender who was an old lady. Definitely not coming back. Our name was not even put on reservation even when we had called and spelled it out.
Very personable staff! Enjoyed my time here!
I have been a Hye member for over a year & have had good experiences; but today we had a staff member named Kyo, she did our wine tasting & she was so incredibly awesome. She knowledgeable, hilarious & very up beat. Thank you Kyo for a great time this morning!
Great place
My wife and I stopped in for a tasting while on our anniversary trip to Fredericksburg. Several of the nearby wineries are so commercialized in their presentation that I felt like I was visiting a theme park with out of place buildings scattered along 290. Willam Chris' location is beautiful and it was refreshing to visit a vineyard that maintains a true Texas look and feel. All their wines we tasted were excellent and so my wife and I were excited to become members. We were recommended the Mourvedre Timmons chilled (I may be wrong on the region) and it was incredible. Hunter provided us the most enjoyable tasting of our vacation so please give him our gratitude.
Always excellent service. I'm a chauffeur and I don't drink alcohol so I don't have an opinion of the wine but I hear consistently that it's great.
I love William and Chris vineyards. Their wine is absolutely amazing and top notch. It's the only Texas wine I drink. I always love taking a visit there to have a relaxing weekend getaway.
We loved it. Their wines are some of the best in the area. We didn't realize that the tastings were by appointment only, but they let us go tough and we were glad they did. The tasting room was nice and the sitting are outside under shade tress was great.
William Chris Vineyards is smaller and they didn't have tours the day I went. There tasting room is a large open area with two tasting bars. It got kind of crowded so it was hard to hear what wine she was pouring for us to taste. We order there cheese boards and they were very good. I order one of there vineyard-only bottles of Malbec to drink while we were socializing and I was a bit surprised by the prize. Yes, the wine was good but I understand they are kind of a local-boutique vineyard (if that makes sense)...
Barrel tasting was great
We tried it on a whim. We are glad we did. The wine is excellent. We didn't have a reservation, but it happened to be slow. I would recommend reservations to be 100% sure they can accommodate you. They really showcase what Texas wine is all about. We left as members.
Fun atmosphere and nice people!
We were just passing by and saw the winery. We were there before they opened and had no reservations. We were just going to take some photos and leave. An employee asked if we needed help and were asked if we'd like a tasting. My wife is the wine drinker, I never cared for it. We did the tasting, it was a house wine and I loved it. Left with several bottles and an education on the winery. Very, very nice nice people and really good wine.
My wife and I have been a part of many vineyards in the hill country. At one point holding 5 different memberships. We decided to cut down and chose to keep JUST William Chris. Their wine is amazing, their venue is beautiful, their release parties are exclusive but not stuck up!! AND most of all they are extremely kid friendly and not just because they have huge field to play in and hand out bubbles. There are two amazing experiences we have had recently. The first was a few weeks back the new members tasting room was not open yet. We went there thinking it was and were worried we would be told kids were not allowed in there (This had happened at a different vineyard we were members at before). Upon arriving the tasting room manager, Luke, approached us and told us the new room is not open but they were giving “sneak peaks and tastings” anyway! I asked if our kids were allowed in and his exact phrasing was “You helped pay for this place, its your home”. What an amazing response. The second was this past weekend, the actual grand opening of their new tasting room. The whole drive we were worried that their wouldn’t be many kids there because of the type of event. We were also worries about having our kids inside with us with so many people mingling around. We asked our kiddos to play outside and they did happily. NEXT thing we know one of the ladies working approached our kids and some others and took them to their main tasting room and got all of the kids their own soda and bubble. She brought the back near the new members tasting room and sat out there with the kids playing with them. Thank you William Chris for making our experiences memorable each and every time we come out. It’s totally worth the 2.5 hour round trip to come out and enjoy good friends, good wine, good fun and a good company that values its customers!
Excellent wine club. We have been members for years. They really care about making quality wines and elevating the whole Texas wine scene. We send all our friends here when they ask where to visit because we know they will be well taken care of by the wonderful staff.
Wonderful wine in gorgeous setting. Loved Bill who conducted our tasting. Must see place! Best Rose'
We called ahead about coming by for a glass of wine at 4:45pm. We were told tastings end at 5pm but that we could come in until 6pm for a glass of wine. When we arrived at 4:55pm, we were told that there was no chance for us to have a glass of wine. As we drive off, we saw several other cars pull up and walk inside. I called the tasting room as we were leaving to ask why we were turned away. They said that they were indeed open for glasses of wine until 6pm. When I spoke to the “office” they did not seem to care at all that we were sent away. Don’t waste your time. Go to Hye Meadow that is welcoming and has a cute dog!
Amazing wine, ambience, and servers.
Trading is $15 per person and does not include glass. Waived of you purchase 3 bottles. Dry reds, only 1 white. Narrow selection. Snobby
Talk About snootyville!!!! If I coukd give them lower than 1 star, I would!!! I have purchased wine from them before and it is good but not worth the attitude of the snotty hostesses. I went on a Saturday to buy a case of wine on my birthday and was not allowed. How ridiculous! I did not want to taste, I had done that before, but I was not even allowed to just purchase and was told they are trying to control the flow. Seriously? They lost a huge sake from me and now, I will not go back!
Suggested to us by the people at Grape Creek, it wasn't nearly as fun. The space isn't as comfortable. We didn't feel as welcome (are reservations really necessary for a tasting?). You don't get to keep the glass even though the cost of the tasting is in the same ballpark as other vineyards we visited. One nice difference is that they noted how much of each wine was produced. The wines are OK, but we had better and the price seemed higher than other vineyards.
Great tasting room, nice atmosphere and great views over the vineyards. Staff was very nice. Reservations required for tastings.
Excellent Texas wine!
Stopped in Tuesday to sample wine. 2 other customers in there at the time. We did not have reservations to "sample there wine" We could not sample. We left and bought a case of wine next door. We come here from Iowa every spring and will not return there. This was the only winery in the Fredericksburg area that refused to serve us without a reservation
Come home to Texas wine. Great wines. Great people.
Just not up to the standards of visiting a California winery. And the tasting was way overpriced.
Very disappointing. Walked in to an empty tasting room on a rainy day and our party of four was made to feel very unwelcome. Wandered around for a bit and left without tasting anything. On down the road are dozens of other wineries which will welcome our company.
Great Texas wine with beautiful grounds.
Exceptional wines and beautiful countryside to spend the day with your friends. My wife and I have toured the Texas Wine Country and have finally found a vineyard that we are willing to return to frequently, so much so we joined the wine club. If you love dry reds I highly recommend the Mourvedre, you won't be disappointed.
Excellent selection! The wine was amazing and the staff was so helpful and educated!
My wife and I stopped in today at William Chris and had the best time ever at a winery...and that includes multiple visits in Napa! As an avid hobby grape grower/winemaker, I was already familiar with W/C. In my opinion, they are one of the top two winemakers in Texas. But the quality of their wine is challenged by the quality of their hospitality and the really novel way that they transform a wine tasting into an immersive tour of their winery. Our host was the winery's CFO. I’m sorry I can’t remember his name but he was awesome! Chris, the namesake was also close by, and his exuberance was infectious. They truly loved their work and it was a blast to experience it.
Outstanding Texas wines.
William Chris Vineyards was such an amazing experience! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was relaxed and felt very homey! The live music, wine, and culture was such a great experience! I highly recommend stopping by William Chris Vineyard!
Hi. Ronny was totally knowledgeable and took great care guiding us through the wines here. Really enjoyed our time for my friends 50th birthday.
White and rose were good
Tara was knowledgeable and fun to talk to. The wines were some of the best we had from the region. The patio view was amazing. We will be returning for years to come.
The two stars are for the staff *inside* the tasting room, the wines, the amenities and the property in general. This is our third visit to this vineyard in 2 years and the WORST visit yet. So bad that I don't think we will be returning and will be warning our entire network of professional and personal contacts against an establishment that is setting themselves up for utter and complete failure in an industry that is supposed to be built on a foundation of customer service. I get it - you prefer people make reservations for your tasting room. Did you know there are ways to explain that to people without making them feel like they are criminals? For a second there, I forgot I was there to give you my money. The staff member you chose for guest check-in shouldn't even be working at Walmart greeting shoppers. She had the nastiest attitude and the worst communicator and had real trouble handling two sets of customers (us and the couple behind us). Train her or fire her. Keep her and you lose business, it's that simple. We won't be coming back.
Sampled a variety of interesting and delicious wines during Texas Wine Month. We will definitely be back.
We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, beautiful weather, nice live music on the patio, there were several groups at the different counters and not one employee greeted us. One woman walked past us a few times without even a glance and even after we walked up to a counter, we still were not spoken to. We left disappointed.
Amazing! It was morning and super chilly outside but the whole staff was very accommodating to keep us warm. From heaters to blankets we were all snuggled. Sterling was our number one server and he was absolutely wonderful. I wish we could have just took him with us for the trip. So fun!
Did a tasting here and really enjoyed the experience. Callista was amazing!
Loved it! Hunter was great, thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. The wines were delicious & it was a great way to end our day. Thank you, Hunter, Tara and Luke for an awesome experience.
Super dope vineyard in the Tx wine country. Their new tasting room is extremely impressive. Give them a try!
The wine is very good, and the place is very pretty, but the man who helped us during our tasting was not the friendliest. He was quite abrasive, even though he knew a ton about the wine, he soured us a little bit on the whole experience. Still liked the wine enough to take a bottle home, though.
We had such an amazing time at this vineyard. Mary was our tasting expert (pourer) and she was absolutely lovely. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She was a pleasure to talk with during our tasting. The wines were excellent as well. I for one, appreciate the fact that a reservation is required on the weekend for a tasting. It was not overcrowded or loud, which made our tasting private and enjoyable. At William Chris the bar is set very high, and the other vineyards we visited could not measure up. Thank you Mary for such a great experience and for making our visit such a joy. It was the highlight of our trip!
Cute vineyard that only takes reservations and the weekends fill up very quickly. The tasting takes about 30 minutes. The tasting room is very loud and it was hard to hear the sommelier. There are large tables outside with heaters. You can enjoy the scenery and sometimes live music. We were able to bring our own snacks (cheese, dips) and they even provided some toasted bread.
Great wine tasting experience!! Beautiful outdoor seating and great tasting wines. We had a party of 7 adults and 2 kids and had a good time.
Book a reservation and you will be treated as if you did! Eva was our hostess and she is very knowledgeable and sweet to boot. The Mourvedre is fantastic.
If you like wine....and beautiful scenery....and most of all, awesome people with a true passion for what they do, you can't miss this place! 100% Texas grapes, amazing red and white wines!
Best vineyards in this area. Reservations recommended. Very tasty cheese plate. Staff is helpful. Somewhat pricey but as in most things, you get what you pay for. One of the few true texas wines.
Beautiful setting and great wines! Go and get Dusty to tell you about them.
Wines were great, space was beautiful, and Eva and her knowledge were a lovely surprise. We will be back!
We had such a wonderful time! Acoustic live music and awesome life size frame for pictures. Oh and the wine is delicious too!
Wine is good but wine club experience wasn't great. Have too much wine stocked up so I decided to cancel membership. Took over a week, after several phone calls and a couple of emails, they finally cancelled the membership. Afterwards they asked for feedback and I took the time to share my experience. They did not respond to my feedback to show they actually cared. I only post reviews such as this after I've shared my feedback directly. If they show no interest in working through the ossue with me directly then I share online. When my wine stocks are depleted I will find another winery to support.
This place is amazing i highly recommed the wine is amazing and Rachel was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Management is awful. They did not serve us because we showed up at 4:00 p.m.and they close at 5:00p.m. The manager was very rude to our whole group. She didn't want any of our business. My recommendation is that don't waste your time coming out here. It is not worth the hassle.
I wished I got the woman's name who helped my husband and I. She was the most knowledgeable and friendly tasting consultant we spoke with during our entire wine tour. She went through several different tastings to find our likes and dislikes. She was very nice to accommodate us close to closing without an appointment. We bought a bottle of Skelton Key but wish we would made it a case.
Our favorite place to sip a glass of wine and soak in the beautiful Pedernales River Valley. Best wine in the Hill Country. New members lounge is great
2015.11.17 It just keeps getting better. They're expanding but still a close knit family. We enjoyed one of the dinner events earlier this year, met new friends and had a wonderful dinner. first review: We love the wine, staff, owners and atmosphere so much, we got married here too.
Just one of the best wineries in TX
Love this place! Gorgeous tasting rooms and outdoor areas, large trees, views, super friendly staff and absolutely delicious wines. Pets are allowed in the outdoor areas and they have a lovely deck outside as well. Very highly recommend!
The expansion and redesign has really changed the feel of this winery. Staff is still pleasant but seems to be focused on the tours and tastings, looks kind of commercial now with a new member area under construction. Welcome area feels really rushed and a bit elitist. Will miss the oak Grove the way it was.
Awesome Customer Service and Atmosphere. Tasty Vino too.
Always have a good time, the owners are great guys and the wine....what can I say other than fantastique!
William Chris is the best winery in Texas. These guys have fun producing wines that are not simply rote. If you enjoy wine as an experience, there's no better place. If you want some corporate BS wines, please go elsewhere.
Been going here for years and had great experiences with great people. This last time, unfortunately, we had a very different and pretentious experience with the outside check in ladies at the new pavilion. Just know if you bring your own snacks that no matter how much you support the winery, they will make obvious judgemental comments of having some cheese-it’s on the patio
Absolutely wonderful experience!! Best vineyard we visited hands down. We showed up on a Saturday afternoon for some tastings and didn't realize we had to make a reservation in advance for this. Luckily it wasn't super busy and they let us do tastings anyways. The wine was definitely the best I had all day and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased a bottle of the Blanc du Bois and the Enchanté which are both very delicious! We sat outside under some shady trees and enjoyed a glass. Hopefully will return soon!
“Reservations reservations” Not for people who aren’t from here and want to visit a few different wineries. Women at check in were less than welcoming. Saying (most wineries require reservations) We have called 3 other wineries no one says they require reservations for groups less than 8 people. The bartenders were way more welcoming. You can thank them for the stars...
A very great history at this location. Friendly staff and great wine.
Great wine, great view, great atmosphere. There are several locations around the property to sit, relax and spend your day. There is an indoor tasting room, original old farm house a patio, the grounds themselves and soon a new tasting room for members. Barrel tasting, food trucks and other excitement during member parties. - Space to roam - Dog friendly - Great views - Plenty of shade - Gift shop with a number of options Pro Tip: Join the wine club, the wine release parties are the best.
Excellent wine
Awesome environment. Loved the wine.
I really enjoyed the wines. And no sulfites. Didn't really care for the cheese, but I'm not a connoisseur. :-)
Beautiful atmosphere, great service, and even better wine. Highly recommend!
Good wines, good people.
Not worth the stop
