REVIEWS OF City Winery IN Tennessee

Came here for Easter Dinner and was very impressed! The space is beautiful, well-kept and the perfect setting for a relaxing evening. We couldn't decide which wines we wanted, so we ordered a few flights and were impressed by all the wines we had. They recently changed their menu but we loved the food we had ordered. Their menu is (obviously) wine-focused so everything we tasted matched really well with our wines. What really stood out to me however is the service. All of the employees seemed genuinely happy to be there and were eager to help with any recommendations or questions we had. It seems as though management has really created a great atmosphere for the employees and it certainly showed throughout our dinner. At the end, we spoke with Rayna who was absolutely lovely and as gracious as could be. Her demeanor and passion blew us all away. We will definitely be back soon because of her!

Did not get a chance to eat here but the drinks were fantastic. Even during a concert prices were fairly reasonable. The concert venue was great! Would love to attend another there.

Rhonda Laird

The food was delicious and the wine pairings were great. Service was fine and our server was very knowledgeable. The parking was a little weird but our rezzies were at the busiest time. Ambiance great. We will go back!

Doug Tullock

We went to a concert for the first time in the main venue space. Nice, intimate setting for a show, but cramped quarters for dining. Our wine was excellent but the "large" meals were pretty small portions and the food was average at best. If we go back, I learned two things. Drink and dessert only, and book a high table for two along the walls. Because it was a rainy evening, I guess everyone used valet parking, and after the show, only two attendants were working. The line and wait to get our car was very long. I finally just asked for my keys and found my car in the lot by activating the alarm. All that being said, the acoustics and sound were great and we enjoyed the concert.

Best place in earth. Even got to meet my favorite American Idol Kris Allen. I really love the food and the venue. I worked there and they treated me so well. I started with executive chef Donald Counts and we was so amazing and patient and training me. He advanced to corporate chef and I missed him. The new executive chef Jason Heim was there for me in all aspects and I grew to become great friends. He was excellent at his job and very understanding. Because of his spirit and dedication he too advanced in the company. Mentioning two more staff members Joe the manager was the best and most organized manager I’ve ever dealt with. He kept this company competitive and such a fun place to work. I personally worked with soups chef David Prigmore the most and he was patient and exceptional in all he did. He has such a bright future with this company. I really enjoyed working with him and he made each and every day exciting to come to work. I love all the staff from city winery. They are not only good at what they do but they provide the same compassion to each and every customer that walks through the door treating them with the most respect and family oriented environment. City winery gets a 10* star rating in all aspects

Megan Coleman

Always a great selection of wines. Love the atmosphere and energy here. I always have a fun time here.

G. GIBBS

Cool place. Decent food. Wine selection is massive, of course. Great music last night! Atmosphere was great. Decor was original and unique, very cool!

Skip Howe

Great venue for music but don't really care for their food.

Joslyn Stuart

1ST TIME THERE & IT WAS GREAT!!!

Mike Rosko

Nice venue. Food was good.

Larry Holleman

A warm and friendly welcome with fantastic customer service. Always great, tasty food served. They provide very timely service and I really like this place. This is definitely one of the must-visit places in the town. I always enjoy being at this place.

lynn moore

The food and the wine are excellent! We had the eggplant flat bread which was very good. We shared the raviolio which was delicious as well as the Brussels sprouts, the truffle mac and cheese and the spaghetti squash. All were delicious. The space is beautiful.

Randy Burdette

Classy venue with great sound and ambience. Huge selection of beer, wine and food but a bit on the pricey side. Review the schedule at their website to find your favorite artist and the dates they will appear.

Steve Tietjen

Loved the house wine. Great prices on an Opius based wine. Just didn't like to pay for parking

kevin murray

Very nice place. Excellent staff

Braxton Shoop

My (now) wife and I had our pre-wedding rehearsal dinner here for about 30-40 people (though the space can easily accommodate more) in the private, second floor event space on Friday, Sept. 27th. Simply put everything was perfect! The food was excellent both in terms of taste and portion size, the audio/video setup was great for a picture slideshow we displayed and toasts delivered using microphones and speakers, the wait-staff was wonderfully attendant, and the bar staff were quick and superbly accommodating. The private restrooms for the event space were quite handy and the event space patios had great views of the Nashville skyline. I would absolutely use this space again and don't hesitate to recommend it.

City Winery always has the best events, tonight was the West Sonoma Coast Vintners...we did the VIP ticket which allowed us an hour early entrance to taste wine and the charcuterie board which was amazing, pictures will be attached!!! Some of my favorite wineries were Dumol, Ernest Vineyards and Peay Vineyards. Keep a look out for their events, top knot!!!

Madeline Wood

Went to see a great concert and loved the venue, only problem I had was with the valet parking. They parked my brand new car which is a manual. When it came time to return it I waited a good while and a young worker approached me and asked if I could walk to get my car. He explained he didn’t drive a stick. I would have gotten over that but when I got into my car my parking break was pulled so far up I could barely get it back down. It really upset me.

Sylas Cooley

I cannot begin to explain to you how bad the food here is. If I listed the amount of things wrong with our experience today, which happens to be our 10 year anniversary, it would take up two pages. Old cold food, young cold wait staff. I dont think anyone cares about what goes on here. Food is a total mess, service is non existant, and after reading bad review, after bad review, the one consistent thing was management asking people to "give us another try". No thank you sir, in fact I advise all to avoid trying City Winery ever. Bad news.

Darrin Gibbon

The event we went to was great and the venue was wonderful but all the food we had was delicious but the calamari was cold and rubbery like chewing rubber bands, the breading was light and seasoned well and sauce was good, so if you go to The City Winery in Nashville, TN stay away from calamari like some one said to me do you see an ocean..lol everything else about this place is

Lizzie Loggins

I came out to see my dear friend Justin Nozuka perform at City Winery. I’ve never been to this venue so I was excited to come but unfortunately when in the “listening room” I was disappointed. Downstairs I ordered multiple drinks and pizzas and came up to the actually venue and again ordered drinks and food. Management came by shushing us and I was confused cause I thought I was at a concert. After speaking to management they said “I needed to respect the other customers” yet I’m also a customer spending money but whatever. I just would not come to this venue if you want to actually enjoy the music.

Amber Duco

Looking at the menu, we were looking forward to eating here, but the service was subpar at best and the food was just okay for how pricy it is. Wine was good, place is trendy, but wouldn’t recommend.

Mike Nimmo

I have never had a server as amazing as Kimberly! Absolutely fantastic wine and absolutely fantastic server. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Daniel Pullen

While the music was great and that was what we were there for the service sucked. We ordered our meal and after a hour and half after never receiving anything discovered our order had never been submitted or entered or whatever. We told them to forget it. I have been to several shows here but this has me rethinking getting a vinofile membership again.

Amy Dawson

I visited the City Winery for the first time Tuesday night (8/7/2018) to see Us The Duo. First off, the show was terrific and it was the only positive experience. City Winery is a nice place, don't get me wrong, but for a first time visitor like myself, I felt out of place. In my opinion, the City Winery is more of a "Supper Club" than a concert/music venue. For someone like myself, who goes to the shows alone, I felt uncomfortable that night. The chairs were nice but the tables were small and not quite large enough to order a meal comfortably...not even for a small salad (I sat almost at the edge of the table with room enough just to have a glass of iced tea). The staff was friendly but the atmosphere felt "snobbish". If I drank wine or any alcohol, that wouldn't be a problem. But I don't drink alcohol due to medications I currently take. The waitress who served at my table was nice but she looked surprised when I ordered iced tea. The menu showed mostly the wine listings and alcoholic drinks but I didn't see any options for those who don't drink alcohol, I had to ask her instead. I self parked instead of Valet and the lot was safe and well lit as I was walking over to my car after the show. Overall, the show was great. But as for the City Winery, I wish the performance area was more than a music venue than a "supper club" and a bit friendlier for those who are there for the first time, who don't drink wine and/or alcohol, or socially uncomfortable/shy around people. As of right now, I'm not really sure if I want to come back for another show or just have a quiet meal unless there improvements or changes.

Nicesonicspeed

I came here on the 24th of September to see a band called carbon leaf, but the experience was made beyond amazing by the exceptional service, friendly staff, and excellent room layout, I’d like to specifically thank nick, our server tonight, for his amazing and quick service.

John Hendershot

What a great venue. Saw a group called The Doo Wop Project. Wow! Fantastic show. City Winery is clean, good food, great service. Very organized.

aware111068

Very nice set up and atmosphere. Food and performances...jazz, poetry, country, blues etc. I've been twice!

Elijah Shelnutt

We really enjoyed our event evening here. Our waiter was present often and helped us with any questions or extra orders we had, great service even with a full room of a good few hundred people. The food was delicious! I would absolutely recommend the Black Hawk Farm Burger, it was absolutely wonderful and cooked perfectly to what I requested. The building itself is quite beautiful and the event dining area was very nice. My only complaint is that the tables were pretty small for us but the wait staff was good about clearing dishes very quickly.

C George

the food and service level is not very good but the music venue is great!

Robert Mahorney

This a very nice place. Great discounts with there club memberships. We came for a wine tasting and had a blast lots of variety s from all over the world sweets bitters ciders a taste to soot everybody. And many of there locally made wines are amazing. A must try for tourists with some early drinking in mind

Angela L

Beautiful outdoor patio area with comfortable loungers! Enjoyed the wine & food! Looks like they have fun events as well.

Hector Benitez

Slow service and Rude wait staff. If you are looking for good service and fine dining, this is not the place to visit. Do not order the Pizza, it will arrive cold to your table and you will be told that is how the Winery serves it. They must order it from little Caesars and by the time it arrives to the restaurant, it's cold. If you want any water to drink, bring your own gallon jug of H2O. If you want to know who your server is, take a picture, since that may be one of the few times you will see them again. Did I mention the poor, rude service and food? Is there a way of giving an establishment, NEGATIVE Stars?

Dave Ferriter

Really enjoyed our dinner and show. Venue is beautiful. Food and drink were high standard. Delighted to catch Jeffrey Foucault as we passed through Nashville

Elliot Fisher

Great venue to catch a show, the music room and sound quality is excellent, and the staff are super lovely. Great wines too of course!

Barbara Hollins

Enjoyed my visit. Drinks, food and especially the entertainment. I recommend all to try, and experience a great evening.

Kailey Schaneberg

Beautiful large venue for a unique music room experience. If you enjoy truly listening to music this is a great place. Food and drinks are on the pricier side, but delicious. Duck tacos are a must. Wine portions were a little lacking, especially for the price. Views from around the room are great, but if you like moving around or getting into the music, it can feel a little tight with the strangers you're sitting next to. Introduce yourself, make new friends!

Ambrea Effertz

I've never been served worse food anywhere in the world. Literally. This restaurant is an overpriced nightmare. Poor food preparation in EVERY way and poor service. Please, do not eat here, it will ruin your day/night. They should be absolutely embarrassed. A complete mess.

Jerrilynn Gomez

My work had our Christmas party there, the drinks were amazing, the food delicious. There was a live band giving a fun atmosphere with great songs.

Paul Hill

Great place, beautiful venue. Just saw the Nelson's Christmas Show and it was, and they were Great! Would've gave the City Winery 5 stars but 2 things need to be addressed. Chairs may be great for a place that is trying rotate people in and out to keep the money flowing but when someone plays $48 per person for a 2 hour show, please provide a little more comfort, not hard wooden chairs. Also for a venue not sold out, you had plenty of space and shouldn't have made the venue so squeezed in to where everyone sat elbow to elbow in discomfort. Neither of my comments should be construed as negative towards the Nelson's, just poor planning on the winery's behalf. Also ladies rooms needed a 30 minute attention rotation(wife's input). No paper towels and wet areas making for hazardous messy situations on and around sinks. A little more planning, and you will be a 5 star place!

Kristin Mahoney

Beautiful area for events and wonderful staff!

J-me Scott

Attended the Gala for Free for Life event and it was amazing... Service, Food and Atmosphere

Andrea Wilson

Jamey Johnson and band were great. City Winery....meh. Staff was abrasive and arrogant. Wait 25 minutes in line for 5 oz pour of wine (the supervisor literally scoffed and said their pour is 5oz) in a plastic wine glass for $11?!? Then they allowed anyone/everyone in the doors after about 8:40pm - nobody working door, checking for purchased passes (no tickets - gave name at door). So the floor swelled with walk ins, crowding the venue. We got there right at doors open so we were able to position at stage - a place to lean and set down drink (oh - we were told not to put drinks on stage but everyone did). There were zero seats available. The website said limited seating first come, not that there would only be enough allocated for the “VIP” preshow. If you didn’t purchase the $150 tickets, it was only standing, which was made unbearable by allowing people to enter without checking if they’d bought passes. People were pressing in on us. This was not a mosh pit crowd - Jamey Johnson for Pete’s sake! It actually seemed that the venue was dangerously filling above capacity. Poorly managed.

Adrian White

Enjoyed the bar scene.

Mark Lipford

My favorite venue here in Nashville. Great food/drinks and ambiance. Valet parking makes getting in and out a breeze. Check it out.

rose potter

Emmy Lou and company was fantastic Great music Great icons Decent food Wonderful venue

Nick Petosa

Food was surprisingly good, and the venue is very comfy. The roast beef stack was juicy and well seasoned. The balsamic mushrooms are another hidden gem. It can get pretty crowded, and the food is a bit pricey, but a great afternoon is to be had here.

Molly Schieber

Sat down for 40 minutes before we ran someone down to get service. It was a group of 7, so hard to miss. The wine staff stood behind the bar talking. I've never witnessed such a mismanaged staff. The one server working was kind but one person for am event night is outrageous. The wine server was rude and messed up our order multiple times.

D. L. Webster

The venue is nice, fairly intimate and the sound impeccable. But this is one of those kind of places where you're not supposed to care how much you're spending. I was charged more than expected in a few ways before I even got in the door, and the food and drinks seemed overpriced. So while the atmosphere was nice, my experience was soured by CW and parking not being clear on what would be charged ahead of time (like a credit card fee). It seems like these places "nickel and dime" you so that you end up spending twice what you planned.

Traci Caudill

I love this place, first time here, but whenever in Nashville I will catch a show, great venue. Food good, service good. Very pleased.

Mark Capistrant

If you haven't been there before, you owe it to yourself to make the Winery a special piece in your Nashville experience. Whatever you see or hear there will not be something you will forget. Just make sure to relax and enjoy yourself. Like their great wine pairings, let the experience lead your emotions. Enjoy. Love, Nashville.

T Willis

Just saw three remarkable singers and had a wonderful meal! Great place

Jo Davis

The bands are great but the waitresses can sometimes suck. Had a totally worthless one tonight. That’s why she got a mere two dollar tip which she didn’t deserve that. Had to wait an hour for her to refill my drink.

Pamela Dickerson

In town from Houston. Great atmosphere and great music. Will definitely be back.

William Hedges

Ok, so this review could get better, but doubt it. Got seated, never saw a server till we asked for one. Been here 45 minutes and no drinks other than water yet. This place is not even crowded..... Just looks they we have slow service. We are here for a show and dinner, so this is unsatisfactory.

Mel Newman

I dined here for the first time a couple weeks ago and I will be back! Kimberly was awesome. You can really tell she enjoys her job. She went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. Thank you for a great experience!

Christine

Worst dining experience. We had a party of 7 for brunch, with a reservation. We ordered drinks immediately and food about 10 minutes later. There were about two other tables in the entire restaurant at the time. We waited two hours for our food. That is not an exaggeration. We arrived at 11:20 and we got our meals at 1:30. All food came out at different times and in addition to that, half of the food was cold. We asked for bread while we waited and that never came out. They did end up comping our bill but honestly I would have rather just left and been able to spend time in Nashville instead of wasting so much time here.

Ray Otstott

I visited Nashville recently and attended the Stanley Clarke Band's concert at City Winery. I found the venue to be an attractive, comfortable place to see a show and have a bite to eat and a glass of wine. Table service was attentive and prompt. As one would expect, Stanley Clarke and his band were great. They played a mix of recent and vintage songs and were entertaining and musically adept. Definitely an enjoyable musical evening. A couple of gripes: My reserved seats were not assigned as they were pictured on the seating chart when I purchased them online. Also, the angle to stage was considerably greater than depicted on the chart. A curtain partially obscured my view, even though I was up front. Minor quibbles, but they could have been better executed.

Alysha Hinton

Gorgeous decor and country classy atmosphere.

Matthew Rogers

Always a great place to see a show or attend an event. The acoustics are incredible and the staff works their butt off. The food is above average / pretty good and the wine selection is top notch.

Patti Lenahan

The food is great, and the entertainment is always superb!

Mary Petersen

Great evening, concert was awesome, good food, great service. Would definitely recommend.

Jennifer Berns

Scheduled a wine tour for my sister's bachelorette party and Caleb was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and had great customer service. We had dinner following the wine tour and Caleb allowed for us to stay in the private wine tasting room for dinner and continued to be our waiter for dinner as well. He went above and beyond to make sure my sister was able to get a wine selection that she enjoyed and he even played along with some of the bridal games we had planned. He was so accommodating and patient with handling a bachelorette party of 12 girls! We were very impressed with the staff as a whole and the space of the event.

Nestle' Strains-Harris

First time there. Great Kenny Latimore Christmas concert.

kyle bullock

Great atmosphere and wine selection. Enjoyed a show here and the room has great sound and is super comfortable

Summer Leniger

I was very disappointed in my experience at the city winery. Wine was over priced and my cheese plate was under welcoming. The $125 bill seemed steep for the quality of our wine and cheese. You hope for more when visiting a winery, wine is what you do.

Shelly Capistrant

Beautiful, relaxed setting for amazing shows!

Anthony Flemons

Great venue! House wines are in store brands made on location. So basically captive audience paying triple for base local juice. Not Great. But the charcuterie, brussel sprouts, spaghetti squash, decent martini.

Keron Bolling

Always enjoy the entertainment and intimate atmosphere. The lamb sandwich is to die for!

dougtowers

Good experience, nice people, nice place, interesting story, great taste!!!

Margo Morris

What a great place. Serving so well organized and servers delivered food and drinks promptly and with a great attitude all while trying to be discreet with the show in progress. All thanks for such a great place, and for booking great talent for our enjoyment. Thank you!

Drew Trachy

We go here a few times per year for various shows, and as a music venue it's one of our favorites. The acoustics are great and it's very intimate. That said, the food is mediocre for the price. Not horrible, but not a reason to visit, either. It feels like the quality has dropped off some since they arrived in town a few years ago.

Debra Beasley

We reserved the back room for a company dinner. It was nice enough for those who wanted to get dressed up but comfortable enough for everyone. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and the perfect mix of good service without being obtrusive. Fabulous selection of wines (the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is fantastic) and great food to pair it with. Don't recommend the olive oil cake though. A couple of people in our group absolutely loved it but the rest of us . . . .well, we didn't love it. Chocolate mousse is a MUST!

Charlotte Smith

Not a Critic just a customer! Fri. Sep. 7th. A last minute/ first time at the City Winery to see one of my favorite groups, Average White Band, they were awesome! Venue very nice, easy to find, cant comment much on food, only had pizza and fries, very nice atmosphere, service was a bit off not sure why but could've been better, but I will be going back based on venue hopefully it'll be up to par next time, thumbs Up!

jim chenoweth

Very nice venue. The food menu needs a much better direction. The items did not intrest my wife or myself. The service was slow.

Spencer Goldade

Fantastic, funny, and charming service. Brilliant, on point, clear as a freaking bell acoustics. Try that new dang chocolate caramel something something salted yum yum with a port. This place blew away expectations, if you're coming from out of town like we did. The show really does start at the time listed, and that's when most people arrived. Great banter with the server until then.

Larry Zielinski

Terrific meal and service. We loved our very friendly and attentive waitress, Kimberly.

Moe Den

Took the wife for the first time to see Glenn Jones in concert he was excellent. The City WInery for a concert is excellent as well. The seating was kind for confusing when ordering. In my opinion the premiere is the best close to the stage (thats where we were seated) The reserved next, then V.I.P. remember i said in my opinion. My wife ordered the hot chicken wraps ordered the CW burger that came with fries medium rare cheese and bacon extra and a calamari appetizer. Wife had wine and i had a stout beer. The server was wonderful and attentive. I would recommend going there just to have a nice dinner other than a concert. My wife and i are fans and will be back soon. Lovely establishment!!!!!

Kelli Christian

We came for Brunch. Was disappointed the only parking options were pay to park at $10/2hrs or valet. The restaurant was pretty empty at 11a for a Saturday and the service was slow.. BUT the waitress was so nice and the food was worth it! The gravy was amazing... You will not be disappointed. I was sad when my food was gone.

Jill Hubbard

Great place for Happy Hour right before seeing a show in the intimate venue. Duck Tacos and risotto balls delicious. Great selection of wines. Great and attentive service at bar and music Hall

Angela Sims Evans

Had a great time at the Avery Sunshine concert. This is one of Nashville's most intimate concert venues!! Not to mention they have the BEST Peach Bellini mimosa!!

Kelsey Wood

This is the most beautiful urban winery I've ever been to. Awesome music venue upstairs and a great balcony. One bartender was not near enough for the amount of people at this Grateful Dead cover band concert, but he was trying real hard to keep up. Will definitely visit again anytime I'm in Nashville.

Nicole Jolaoso

We had the Brussels sprouts, hummus, chicken, pork, raviolo & margherita pizza. All were delicious. We also saw Griffin House perform. It was a fun night.

Hollie Roberts

Food was great . Waiter was fantastic. The show wow .

Kevin The Fantastic!

Great time... Every time!

Lisa Elliott

Nick was a great waiter and the food and wine was excellent...enjoyed the margherita pizza, chicken soup, malbec and red flight

Philip Price

Excellent service for my company celebratory party. They took care of everything start to finish. Love this place!!

Lisa Arnold

We attended a show on 10-6-2018. The service was terrible. Patrick was our waiter it took forever for a drink! He came by for last call we ordered, he came back to the table said sorry you missed it! The person selling T- Shirts was so rude and annoying, he tried to pick a fight with a guy in our party!! He had serious anger problems.

Linda Bunyan

Fantastic venue! Don't miss whoever may be appearing here. The food is also incredible and if course the wine is a draw. Become a member of this fine wine family!

Chris Fuller

I have had a lot of mixed drinks in my life. This was the worst drink ever. Crown Royal and Sprite... The drink was clear as water. $10.00 for a glass of Sprite... Excuse me Seirra Mist!!!

K Murphy

I frequent this establishment throughout the year for different occasions. It's one of the pricier venues as far as food is concerned. But it is within the range of any comparable venue. The shows are always affordable and well-executed and it is such a beautiful space. Very romantic. Based on my experience, the service seems to struggle during events. My suggestion: happy hours always nice. I like to eat at the bar and then attend my event. Or have lunch/dinner before your event begins .

Vinny Foster

This place is rude. Uber can not come up front to pick you up. Bull sit.

Angie Long

Nice atmosphere. Enjoyed the private room for our Christmas party. Really wish they had more than one server taking care if our group of 18.

Josiah Mihok

Great design and lovely decor, with an amazingly friendly and knowledgeable staff! Sydney was very helpful and helped us find the best selection of wines to go with our choice of food items. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Nashville!

Eric Brewer

City Winery is a good music venue. Classy modern feeling listening room sit down dinner and a show format. A decent selection of wines on tap and by the bottle, two beers on tap, and a handful of beers in bottles as well. I don't particularly enjoy sitting down at shows, but I have enjoyed many shows here. I'll come back here for shows, but the food menu always seems a little sparse to me, and everything is a bit overpriced. It's a great spot, just not quite a 5 for me.

Donnie Malone

Great evening. Great food and great entertainment!

Anne Watson

Cool place! Great service! The Music of Cream was KICKIN!!
