The best thing about Allen's is that you are able to return what is not opened, so we were able to order without the fear of running out... and you NEVER want to run out at a wedding! My husband and I worked with Allen’s Wine & Spirits for our wedding this June, and we could not have been more happy with how completely professional and accommodating Allen’s Wines was for our needs, especially the contact we worked with, Alex. There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to planning a wedding, but I never had to worry about our alcohol needs for the bar. Alex took care of everything for us from start to finish, making sure that the delivery logistics to and from the venue were taken care of, to providing great recommendations on what type of beer/wine and liquor to purchase, and how much of everything, to ensure we wouldn’t run out based on our guest-count. You NEED to choose Allen's Wine & Spirits for your next event! We used them for our rehearsal dinner and wedding, and Alex made the process so easy, fun, and stress-free (and the prices are great too!). Alex was able to get us all of our favorite wines, and helped us choose liquor and beer when we got stuck. He knows exactly what he's doing, which made our lives so much easier during the chaos of wedding planning! His quantity estimates were spot on, and Allen's even allows you to return unused bottles after the event which was a huge bonus. Delivery was perfect and on-time, and the customer service was exceptional - we even stopped into the store after the wedding to buy some wine as a gift, and Alex steered us towards some great choices. They really know their wines at Allen's.. and I love wine! The store itself has an incredible selection and many items I haven't seen anywhere else - it was hard not to buy everything in there! Allen's Wine & Spirits catered my wedding at the Glen Manor in Portsmouth. Without having any experience planning an event of this size (around 100 people) it was hard to guess at the amount of alcohol we would need. Luckily, I head about Allen's Wine and Spirits from the venue, and they came highly recommended. I reached out to them and Alex immediately put me at ease. Not only did he work with me to figure out what the right amount of alcohol would be, he also gave me good suggestions, and flagged any special deals or savings that he could offer on a particular brand vs another. The best part, is they offer to buy back any unopened bottles from you, so that you can have a few extras and not worry about running out of booze (imagine that)! We were coming out of state, so another big boon to us was how professionally Allen's handled all of the day-of coordination. They coordinated the drop off and pick up directly with the venue (Glen Manor) and the caterer (Russel Morin). All in all, we had a perfect experience and if you are looking to have someone cater your event, look no further!

He handled the delivery, clean-up and final reconciliation with the ultimate professionalism and kindness. We were surprised at how easy Allen's people made what seemed like a complex process, and we recommend them most highly.

Used Allen's wine to supply the liquor for our wedding at the recommendation of our venue manager. Easy to work with from beginning to end--did the delivery and pickup from the venue and charged us after the event for the wine and liquor used or kept. Also sought out kosher wines at our request, which was clearly outside his usual clientele request. Only Hiccups were the following: 1. We wanted kosher wines, and the list of wines he originally presented were different than the ones available by the distributer he identified when we were ready to confirm our order--no doubt this was a distributer issue, but speaks to lack of relationship with the a distributer who can handle such requests; given the issue, the situation was handled well by Allen. 2. We were told that if there were unopened bottles of wines or liquors normally stocked in the store, we wouldn't be charged. Also, for the wines not normally stocked, we could have a similar arrangement if an entire case was not opened. At the end of the event we paid for and went home with 3 cases of wine that we were told were different varietals/vineyards that didn't make up a single complete case. When opened once we got home (several states away), we realized that the bottles were mixed between the boxes but that when sorted, we did have more than enough bottles of a given wine to have completed a case. While we would have much preferred to have returned it to the distributor and not had to incur the expense of an extra case of wine we didn't need, at least we were able to keep the product at the end of the day. There was another issue at the event itself with the sparkling wine we had on hand, which we did not find out about until after our wedding, but it appears to have been handled with grace and professionalism between the caterers, wine merchant and distributer, which we were very appreciative not to have needed to get involved. Thank you, Allen. Overall a pleasure to work with. (if you need kosher wines and are particular about your options, you may want to look locally in your home territory instead of presuming you can find a huge selection in the Rhode Island area)

I used Allen's Wine and Spirits for my daughter's wedding this weekend after getting suggestions from my caterer and was extremely happy with their service. They have an extensive wine selection and provided me with excellent choices for both red and whites for us to chose from after listening to our taste preferences. I was also pleasantly surprised by the majority of the wines suggested being well below my price point. If you are concerned with ordering too much they have a unique arrangement to take back all unopened undamaged bottles, though their estimates of consumption were very accurate. Great people to work with.

If you have the option of doing your open bar by consignment, DO IT. We used Allen's Wine and Spirits to purchase the alcohol for our wedding in Portsmouth, RI on 7/15/16. I worked with Alexander Allen and it was probably the best vendor experience we had. We saved a ton of money versus paying a per person cost for an open bar. We got to choose exactly what brands we had and Alex's guidance and expertise allowed us to rest assured that we would have an adequate supply. We only needed a credit card on file, so it was nice to have one less vendor to pay before or on the day of the wedding. The final total was much less than expected as Allen's does not charge you for any unopened bottles. What is open is yours to keep. Allen's worked directly with the caterer to handle all the details. I cannot recommend Allen's and their consignment model to supply an open bar enough.

Allen's Wine & Spirits provided our caterers liquor for our wedding and also delivered additional bottle of wine and champagne to the venue as backup at our request (we provided the wine from California). They were exceptionally professional and flexible, and even took back all the unused bottles and refunded us. They were great!
