This is our favorite winery. The reviews don't do this place justice. A few years ago a bunch of "trolls" left poor/bad reviews which makes the Google ratings (3.6) much less valid.

We have eaten here twice and found the food to be wonderful. Love the outside porch seating. The staff was never rude. They give a nice winemaking tour too. I have a feeling some irrate group is purposely flooding the reviews with negative comments , that is why the 2.2 rating.

We had a wonderful time at the vineyards. The staff was super friendly and catered to our every need with a smile. The best part: shipped my wine order home and received it just a day after returning home. The grounds with well manicured lawns and shrubs was a peaceful sight. The owners are friendly and always visiting with the customers, the staff is knowledgeable and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect for the customeers. The activities are always fun and varied so that there is something for everyone. I love Shelton Vineyards and visit as often as possible.

We went for a ride with some friends. We pointed the bikes north and set out with no particular place to go. We found the Shelton Vineyard right about the time we were ready to take a break. We walked in and were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Service was on the slow side but no terrible. The food, well it was amazing. We were truly surprised at how wonderful everything tasted. The presentation was beautiful but the deserts were even better! After dinner my buddy and found a nice place to sit and enjoyed a cigar while our wives went in and did the tasting. It's a beautiful place, very relaxing and had great food and good wine. The only knock is the slow service. But the way every thing else went it made up for it and we weren't in any particular hurry!!

Have you ever wanted to experience "A piece of heaven"? Well, here's your chance. Shelton Vineyards is located in a very beautiful area of the foothills of North Carolina in Dobson, NC right off of I-85 not far from Charlotte. The vineyards are nestled in the quiet and relaxing foothills with its own hotel associated with the Hampton Inn Properties nearby. All the rooms have a panoramic view of the mountains and the vineyards down the road. While at the vineyards you and your family/guests could partake in a tour of the vineyard grounds, the wine and cheese tasting area/gift shop and even have a lovely meal in the on premises restaurant. During the summer, there are numerous forms of activities, to include and not limited to, individual and group musical performances, dinners on the grounds of the vineyards, care shows and much, much more. Shelton Vineyards was my first stop in the Yadkin Valley wine trail several years ago. Everything about it was first class. The wines exhibit a wonderful Yadkin Valley terroir, and are delicious. I just recently had a surprise engagement at Shelton Vineyards and it was an amazing experience. My original engagement venue fell through and I called and spoke with Danielle Davis and she was able to accommodate us the next day! She went above and beyond to make sure we had a perfect experience. Linda was also a great host and tour guide. The entire Shelton Vineyards staff made this an unforgettable engagement. We will definitely be back, and I would highly recommend this establishment for an engagement, tour and tasting or event.

Harvest Grill is the name of the restaurant at Shelton's, and has always been the best part of Shelton's for me. The wine is very good, and that is incontestable. As is the staff, and the beauty of the property. I am pretty sure I have been coming to Harvest Grill about 11 years, before they were open full hours. I even coordinated back then a Christmas party where we rented out the tasting room and the entire restaurant. Chef Paul was awesome then, and through the years. Every brunch, lunch, and dinner have been a great experience for us. It is the go to for any special occasion. Harvest Grill rivals most major city chef restaurants, and is tops in the western NC foothills/Piedmont.

Although I have never been to the actual Shelton Vineyards, I can tell you there is only one Riesling that I drink and it comes from them. I live in Murphy, NC and locally I can get this in downtown Murphy. I was ecstatic the day I learned this. As this is the type of wine I prefer, I have not sampled the others. But, if they are as wonderful as their Riesling, then I know they are winners as well. Hoping to get a trip over to the vineyards and meet the staff behind this wonderful wine.

My husband and I visited Shelton Vineyards 3 yes ago. Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, we just heard about it and made the lovely side trip. We enjoyed it so much we planned this year's driving vacation from Florida to Shelton. We were not disappointed. I just love so many of their wines. We loved our dinner at the café, it was delightfully fresh. I purchased a membership and look forward to my next shipment. Ken and I enjoyed sitting in the rockers on your front porch, taking in the beauty you have created. We shared with friends who were so surprised to learn about the NC wine history. For a great relaxing weekend you can't beat Shelton Vineyards! Especially when it's concert season. We always pick our favorite band and spend the weekend. We have a great lunch at Harvest Grill, enjoy sitting on the patio with our favorite bottle of wine. You can't beat it. A shuttle is provided between the vineyards and Hampton Inn so no need to worry about drinking and driving.

We have been coming here for several years now, have eaten several times at The Harvest Grill and even stayed at the Hotel 2 or 3 times and we have received nothing but good service and friendly staff. It's a favorite of ours and my fiance even joined the wine club recently, its definitely a good idea to join if you come here often. We were there with a group of 14 wine tasters I have never felt so rushed! We arrived at 4:45 and they don’t close until 6. We didn’t get to select our wines and the lady didn’t give us much information and we were tons what wines we were tasting. I’m not sure any if us purchased wines after being made to feel very unimportant . Very disappointed in their lack of customer service . By the way we were finished before 5:30

This owner rather have truckdrivers fatique than nap on a ramp. His wine sucks..service was horrible..rude employees. Very very disrespectful. Has no morals and it shows. His issues with truck drivers is a shame. He pays ppl in authority to do for him..no matter what the cost to others well being. Selfish is he. I don't recommend this place at all..

The ONLY reason Shelton Vineyards receives 2 stars is because the restaurant was great. The vineyard tasting room experience was horrible. The man that serviced us collected our $20 up front gave us lists and told us to keep them ‘upside down’ because he works better that way. He poured wines we selected and walked off. When he came back to pour the next selections I asked, “are you going to tell us about the wines?” He said, “I guess if you’d like.” No idea who that man was but he should not be servicing customers directly. No excuse for rudeness. Shelton Vineyards should take a lesson from the kindness Laurel Gray vineyards extends to its visitors.

Eating at the Harvest Grill is a wonderful experience. I am never let down when I want that something different, unique, and delicious. The best part is that I can walk it off afterwards by visiting the store at the Vineyards. It is time for one of our many trips to the area and we are looking forward to it because we know that this is high on our list of places to visit. Plus we need to restock and resupply.

It is a shame to see a few upset truckers (which not all truckers are bad or terrible people) try to make this place sound unpleasant. I hope we will get to visit soon and form our own opinions! We just moved to the Charlotte area and this was our first time in Yadkin Valley. I did not have this winery on our list due to their overall low rating, however Every winery we went to recommended we visit Shelton also. When employees and customers at other wineries recommend somewhere, we figured it was worth trying out. Wow! It was definitely worth it! The vineyard is beautiful...similar to a Napa vineyard (we go to Napa every year). We are red, dry, full bodied wine lovers and we loved every one of their reds. We then decided to do their tour and tasting of their reserve wine. The tour was nice, and the reserve wines were wonderful! We ended up leaving with 2 cases and a membership to their wine club. Don’t miss this winery!!! And note, the overall low rating of this vineyard was due to a group 2 years ago that got upset and all posted horrible reviews (it even seems like they got others to post that didn’t even visit the winery).

I'm totally confused by the negative reviews. I've been to Shelton several times and it is my favorite vineyard in Yadkin Valley. The wine is wonderful, and the service and tour is always fun. I've also had dinner and lunch at the Harvest Grill and I've enjoyed both. Highly recommend this vineyard!

In the area visiting some places of interest from Baltimore . Searched Google Maps for several Wineries in the area and found this place that looked pretty nice . I was happy to find it looked as nice in person as it did on the website , with a cool country pond to walk around . Sampled several of the wines and found them to be excellent quality ( have visited over 60 wineries ) . We then decided to eat at their restaurant that was said to have very fresh and great food , we were very pleased with the fresh food and ingredients used and the wine we chose was a great fit - good job Shelton. The hotel up the street facing I-77 , also obviously owned by them was also nice with Shelton wines to help relax at the wine bar .

Our family visited Shelton Vineyards for a birthday celebration. The restaurant had excellent food and service. After lunch we walked around the beautifully manicured landscape and took pictures. The tasting room had a pleasant and warm atmosphere. There was also a gift shop with unique items. We will visit again.

I absolutely love Shelton Vineyards Riesling. I have tried Rieslings from different Winery's but haven't found one that has the flavors as good as this one. It is light & refreshing & fruity. The flavors consists of Honey Dew, Pear & Melon.

Bad service. Slow response. Not knowledgeable about wine. Asked for payment first, very rude when they did not ask anyone else. The place is a beautiful walk, the wine tastes more like vinegar and grape juice. I really can’t recommend this place. If you absolutely have to visit every vineyard in the area, visit this one first so you forget it sooner.

In the past their wine has been pretty good, but nothing special. This time we went it was just excellent. The food here has always been amazing, and now the wine matches. The staff has been incredibly friendly and welcoming and we'll definitely be buying their wine in stores. The port is to die for. If you're on the fence you should definitely go.

We were there for a wine tour and the service was very rude. Several comments that were made that we were too drunk and they could tell it was our last vineyard... Those same comments were directed to my pregnant friend who wasn't even drinking. They also didn't even serve us wine in a glass but in Plastic cup.. it felt like a very unclassy place with staff that didn't want to work. I don't plan on going there again or recommending any of my friends to go there either.

Wonderful Time! Mr Shelton warmly greeted us at the door. He seemed to be a happy pleasant man. The wines were very good and we left with several bottles. Noticed there was a style for every taste and the prices were very reasonable. After enjoying some wine in the tasting room then we ventured outside. OMG! This place has seating and several picnic tables located under trees and beside a stream. There is a pond where you can walk out over a bridge and feed catfish with food they provide. The environment is family friendly but there are places where couples without children can enjoy the quiet. We plan to pack a picnic and go back. This instantly became one of my favorite vineyards and I can't wait to take friends with me. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place and tasty wine with us.

Our favorite little get away is to travel from Cleveland for a night at the Hampton Inn Suites at Shelton. After our travels we enjoy a glass of wine on the out door patio followed by a most delicious dinner at The Harvest Grill. The grounds are so beautiful that a lazy walk along their meandering sidewalk is a must after dinner.

Shelton Vineyards is a fantastic destination. My wife and I went there on our 39th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. We started off at their restaurant, Harvest Grill, and had an incredible lunch. The food was outstanding and the people there very friendly. Our waitress asked us what brought us to the vineyard and I said it is our anniversary. She congratulated us and asked what our favorite wine is. We said Merlot and she left and brought back a bottle of their Merlot and said it was a custom to give couples celebrating their anniversary a free bottle of wine. We were pleasantly surprised. We went to the wine tasting next and the ladies were pleasant and very knowledgeable. We discovered that almost 100% of the wines we liked but left with 5 bottles of our favorite. The grounds are impeccable. We have been to a number of wineries and this is one of the best!

We enjoyed a very nice tour and tasting at the Shelton Vineyards, so we recommend the venue. We are sorry to read about the immature truckers who troll the review sites to trash the vineyard merely because the vineyard owners asked the authorities to enforce the law on vehicle parking along the highways. Maybe those drivers wished to ignore the intimidating effect that their rigs imposed on potential vineyard tourists. Perhaps the angry trolls should lobby their legislators, as responsible citizens do when they disagree with the statutes. Laws should work for the common good, rather than insulating commercial drivers from the lodging costs that we regular citizens incur during travel. And kudos to the many courteous commercial drivers who contribute to our economy and responsibly observe the statutes!

We always made it a point to stop at the SHELTON Vineyards for a relaxing and wonderful meal. My husband and I love visiting and shopping at Shelton Vineyards. The owners are very friendly people who stop and chat with visitors. The vineyard has a wide variety of wines from whites to blush to reds. Our favorites are the Riesling and blush. We like the vineyard so much that we joined their wine club. The club has great benefits like discounts on wines and merchandise as well as special events especially for wine club members. Luckily we live within 2 hours from the vineyard so we can visit often. We highly recommend Shelton Vineyards is you're looking for a great wines in a friendly atmosphere.
